Oh gawd, it’s all unravelling!! I’ve resorted to asking my ChatGPT for advice on how to handle this!! This is the context I put it:
work in a small startup with 7 other people
I have been brought on for a three month contract to assess the current product and make recommendations for product strategy, product roadmap, improved engineering and product processes with a view to rebuilding the platform with a new product and migrating existing vendors and borrowers across
There is one engineer and no-one else in the company has any product or technical experience
The engineer has worked on his own for 6 years on the product with no other engineering or product person
He does all coding, testing, development, devops tasks
He also helps with customer support enquires
He was not involved in the process of bringing me onboard and felt blindsided by my arrival
I have requested access to Github, and his response was:
As you can imagine access to the source code is pretty sensitive. Are you looking for something specifically? And do you plan on downloading the source code or sharing with anyone else?
He then advised they only pay for a single seat
I have spoken with the Chief Operations Officer who I report to in the contract and advised my business risk concerns around single point of failure
I have still not been granted access to Github so brought it up again today with the COO, who said he had requested 2 weeks ago
The COO then requested on Asana that the engineer add myself and himself as Github users
I received the following from the engineer:
Hey can you please send me your use cases for your access to GitHub? How exactly are you going to use your access to the source code?
My response:
Hey! My request isn’t about making changes to the codebase myself but ensuring that Steward isn’t reliant on a single person for access.
Here are the key reasons I need GitHub access:
1 Business Continuity & Risk Management – If anything happens to you (whether you’re on holiday, sick, or god forbid, get hit by a bus!!), we need someone else with access to ensure the platform remains operational. Right now, Steward has a single point of failure, which is a pretty big risk.
2 Product Oversight & Documentation – As Head of Product, I need visibility into the codebase to understand technical limitations, dependencies, and opportunities at a broad level. This DOESN'T mean I’ll be writing code, but I need to see how things are structured to better inform product decisions and prioritization.
3 Facilitating Future Hiring – If we bring in additional engineers or external contractors, we need a structured process for managing access. It shouldn't be on just one person to approve or manage this.
Super happy to discuss any concerns you have, but this is ultimately a business-level decision to ensure Steward isn’t putting itself at risk.
His response was:
1&3 Bridget has user management access for those reasons
2. no one told me you were Head of Product already, which isn’t surprising. But congrats! So will you be sharing the source code with other engineers for benchmarking?
The software engineer is an introvert and while not rude is helpful without volunteering inflation
He is also the single access for AWS, Sentry, Persona (which does our KYC checks).
I already had a conversation with him as I felt something was amiss in the first week. This was when he identified that he had been "blindsided" by my arrival, felt his code and work was being audited. I explained that it had been a really long process to get the contract (18 months), also that I have a rare mix of skills (agtech, fintech, product) that is unusually suited to Steward. I was not here to tell him what to do but to work with him, my role to setup the strategy and where we need to go with the product and why, and then work with him to come up with the best solution and he will build it. I stressed I am not an engineer and do not code.
I have raised some concerns with the COO and he seems to share some of the misgivings, I sense some personality differences, there seems like there are some undercurrents that were there before I started.
I have since messaged him with a gentler more collaborative approach:
Hey, I’ve been thinking about GitHub access and wanted to float an idea, would it make sense for us to do a working session where you just walk me through the repo first? That way, I can get a sense of the structure without us having to rush any access changes or security decisions right away. Then, we can figure out what makes sense together. What do you think?
I’m keen to understand your perspective a bit more, can we chat about it tomorrow when you're back online? Is 4pm your time still good? I know you’ve got a lot on, so happy to be flexible.
I think I’ve fucked it up, I’m paranoid the COO is going to think I’m stirring up trouble and I’m going to miss out on this job. How to be firm yet engage with someone that potentially I’ll have to work closely with(he’s a prickly, hard to engage Frenchie, who’s lived in Aus and the US for years).

The Role of Test Automation in DevOps and Continuous Integration Pipelines
The DevOps Imperative: DevOps relies on continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), necessitating rapid code merging and releases. Manual testing falters at this pace. Test automation offers rapid feedback and early bug detection, turning testing from a bottleneck into a catalyst for faster validation.
Why Automation is DevOps’ Engine Lubricant
Incorporating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines yields significant benefits:
1. Instant Feedback Loop: Automated tests run upon code commits (unit, integration, API), providing immediate pass/fail signals, and preventing "it worked on my machine!" surprises.
2. Enabling Continuous Deployment: Reliable automation serves as a quality gate, allowing code to auto-deploy if tests pass—necessitating high test reliability, a focus of rigorous software testing courses in Hyderabad.
3. Early & Frequent Bug Detection (Shift-Left): Bugs caught minutes after introduction are easier and cheaper to fix than those found later. Automation facilitates consistent shift-left testing.
4. Risk Mitigation for Frequent Changes: Automated regression tests create a safety net, ensuring new features don’t disrupt existing functionality with each release.
5. Resource Optimization: Frees QA engineers from repetitive tasks, allowing them to concentrate on complex test design and quality advocacy.
Case Study: The E-Commerce Giant Running on Automation
Consider a real-world DevOps leader:
A major e-commerce platform faces:
Challenge: Thousands of daily code commits; must handle Black Friday traffic; zero tolerance for checkout disruptions.
 Automation in CI/CD:
   1. On Commit: Developer pushes code → CI server triggers smoke & unit tests → Immediate feedback.
   2. Nightly: Full regression suite runs, simulating holiday traffic.
   3. Gatekeeper: If all tests pass → Code auto-deploys to production.
 Outcome:
    Rapid, reliable releases (multiple deploys/day).
Critical bugs caught before user impact.
    Proven resilience during sales spikes.
Significant reduction in manual regression effort.
This illustrates how automation underpins high-speed, high-quality DevOps.
The Crucial Counterbalance: Why Manual Testing Isn't Dead
Automation is powerful but not foolproof. Over-reliance brings challenges:
Flaky Tests: Unreliable tests damage trust in the pipeline, leading to ignored failures. Maintenance is essential.
UX Blind Spot: Automation struggles with subjective assessments of UI intuitiveness and workflow satisfaction.
Complex Scenario Gaps: Automating intricate business logic or dynamic content can be overly complex or costly.
Exploration Deficit: Automated tests follow scripts and may miss unexpected bugs a human tester could discover through exploration.
The Winning Strategy: Hybrid Vigilance
Effective teams find balance:
1. Automate Relentlessly:
Repetitive Tasks: Logins, form fills, core workflows.
    High-Risk Areas: Checkout and payments.
Performance & Load: Essential for scalability.
    API Contracts: Reliable backend validation.
2. Empower Manual Testing:
Exploratory Testing: Human-driven investigations for UX and unexpected behavior.
Complex Business Logic: Scenarios requiring intricate rules or multiple dependencies.
Usability & Accessibility: Assessing design, flow, and compliance.
Verifying Bug Fixes: Ensuring fixes work and don't introduce new issues.
3. Leverage Automation for Manual Support: Use automation to prepare complex test scenarios, enhancing manual testing efficiency.
Understanding this balance is a key outcome of a comprehensive software testing course in Hyderabad.
Building a Robust Automation Pipeline: Key Considerations
Maximizing automation's impact requires strategy:
1. Toolchain Integration: Connect testing frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, etc.) with CI servers and deployment tools.
2. Fast & Reliable Tests: Prioritize speed. Slow tests disrupt the CI feedback loop. Ensure test reliability with thorough maintenance.
3. Test Pyramid Adherence:
Base: Widely employed, fast Unit Tests.
Middle: Limited Integration & API Tests.
Top: Few, carefully chosen UI End-to-End Tests.
(Avoid a heavy focus on slow, brittle UI tests!)
4. Shift-Left Culture: Developers and QA share responsibility for quality, integrating tests early.
5. Monitoring & Analytics: Track test performance metrics for visibility and improvement.
Mastering this framework is a core focus in a practical software testing course in Hyderabad.
Skills for the DevOps Automation Engineer
Success in this role requires a unique skill set:
Programming Proficiency: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C.
Test Automation Frameworks: Experience with Selenium, Cypress, REST Assured, etc.
CI/CD Mastery: Managing Jenkins, GitLab CI, to trigger tests effectively.
Version Control (Git): Essential for collaboration.
Cloud & Containerization Basics: Familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes.
 API Testing: Validating microservices communication.
Performance Testing Concepts: Using tools like JMeter or K6.
Test Design & Maintenance: Creating robust and maintainable automation.
Collaboration & Communication: Bridging between Dev, Ops, and QA teams.
Acquiring this skill set is crucial, and a leading software testing course in Hyderabad offers the structured learning needed.
Conclusion: Speed with Confidence
Test automation is vital for achieving DevOps velocity and CI/CD success. It provides the rapid feedback and safety net necessary for frequent, confident releases. However, teams must understand that automation excels in speed and repetition, whereas human testers are invaluable for judgment and exploration.
By strategically automating suitable tests, integrating them effectively into the pipeline, diligently maintaining them, and empowering manual testers to focus on high-value areas, organizations can achieve the ultimate DevOps goal: delivering high-quality software at market speed. For professionals, mastering this domain opens up immense career opportunities.  Ready to transform testing from a bottleneck to a turbocharger in your DevOps pipeline? How would you prioritize what to automate first in your current workflow? Equip yourself with essential skills—discover how a premier software testing course in Hyderabad can prepare you to design, build, and maintain the automated safety nets essential for modern software delivery!

AI-driven hiring practices are on the rise. Many companies now use applicant tracking systems (ATS) and automated video interview tools powered by natural language processing (NLP). These systems evaluate resumes, parse spoken answers, and even assess tone or micro-expressions. That means preparing for interviews is no longer just one-on-one with a human—it’s also one-on-one with an algorithm.
Resume-scanning ATS: Keywords, formatting, and consistency matter more than ever.
Automated video interviews: Clarity, pace, and phrasing impact how AI scores you.
Behavioral analytics: Systems detect confidence, sentiment, and professionalism.
Without the right preparation, even qualified candidates can be filtered out before hitting “submit.” But LockedinAI’s AI Interview Help ensures you’re always interview-ready—from resume to thank-you note.
How LockedinAI’s AI Interview Help Works
Resume Optimizer Our AI engine reads your resume like an ATS would. It highlights missing keywords, formatting issues, and inconsistencies that could unfairly lower your score. The result? A polished document that passes both human and machine review.
Mock Video Interviews Practice makes perfect. Our simulated video questions are based on current industry trends. You record responses and receive instant feedback on tone, clarity, pacing, and content quality. You’ll also receive AI-driven suggestions—like shortening answers or using stronger action verbs.

Resilient Testing Amidst Salesforce’s Continuous Releases
Tumblr media
Salesforce doesn’t slow down — and neither should your testing. With three major platform releases every year, staying on top of changes while keeping your tests intact is a challenge. But if you’re using Provar, the Salesforce automation testing tool built to thrive in this fast-paced ecosystem, you’ve already got a leg up. In this blog, we’ll break down how you can keep your Salesforce testing strategy resilient even as Salesforce evolves.
Why Salesforce Releases Matter for Testing?
Salesforce rolls out updates three times a year — Spring, Summer, and Winter. These aren’t minor tweaks; they often include UI changes, backend logic updates, new features, and even deprecated functionality. For testers, this means potential disruption to:
UI element locators that change without notice
Workflow logic that affects end-to-end journeys
Integration points with external systems
Performance due to new background processes
The Testing Struggle Is Real (But Manageable)
Without a strategy, each new release can break your automation. Manual testing is too slow to keep up, and many tools struggle with Salesforce’s dynamic environment.
That’s where Provar shines. By leveraging metadata-driven automation, Provar adapts to Salesforce’s internal structure. This means fewer broken tests and less manual rework — even during release season.
Key Features That Make Provar Resilient
Metadata Awareness: Provar reads the metadata directly from your Salesforce org, so it knows how elements are structured and named, even after updates.
Self-Healing Locators: Provar’s locator strategy adjusts to changes in the UI, so your tests don’t break every time a layout shifts.
Sandbox Support: You can run regression tests in Salesforce’s preview sandboxes before each major release — giving you a head start on finding issues.
Reusable Test Assets: Components built in Provar can be reused across test cases and adjusted centrally, reducing duplication and effort.
Salesforce Release Timeline (At a Glance)
Tumblr media
How to Build a Release-Ready Testing Strategy?
Whether you’re an admin, QA lead, or DevOps engineer, here’s how you can stay resilient: 1. Stay in Sync with Salesforce's Release Schedule: Bookmark Salesforce’s release calendar and proactively plan your testing sprints around preview environments. 2. Test Early in Sandbox: Run automated regression tests in the preview sandbox to catch breakages before they hit production. Provar’s stable test architecture makes this easy. 3. Use Change Impact Analysis: Leverage tools (like Provar’s Test Impact Assessment) to identify what tests are affected by release changes. This keeps your test scope efficient and focused. 4. Update & Reuse Test Components: When Salesforce changes, update a single test component in Provar and reuse it across other cases. No need to rewrite from scratch.
Why Metadata-Driven Testing Wins?
Unlike traditional UI-based testing tools, Provar’s metadata-driven approach means:
Your tests adapt to backend changes automatically
UI shifts don’t cause false failures
Maintenance effort is cut dramatically
This is the kind of resiliency you need in an environment that changes as often as Salesforce. Final Thoughts: Embrace Change with Provar
Salesforce releases are inevitable — and constant. But with the right strategy and tools, you can stay ahead without sacrificing quality or sanity. Provar is built from the ground up to thrive in the Salesforce ecosystem, making Salesforce testing faster, smarter, and more resilient. So the next time a Salesforce release is looming, don’t panic. With Provar in your toolkit, you’re already prepared.
