What Tape will Diffuse LED Light Strips?
If you’re looking to add a soft, ambient glow to your space, diffusing LED light strips is a fantastic way to achieve that dreamy, ethereal effect. But the question arises: What Tape will diffuse LED light strips effectively? This is not just about concealing the harshness of direct LED lights but also about enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your lighting setup. Whether you’re decking out your…

Hello hello! Out of curiousity, what do you think is a good way to go about making a cosplay of Loop from In Stars and Time (specifically the head since I imagine their body could done with a painted bodysuit)? I’ve been trying to work that out since I feel like cardboard/foam would keep the head shape but probably not work as well in a 3D space (unless you get really detailed with angles and such), and I can’t quite think of other directions to go for. (The light aspect is also complicated but could maybe work with LED strips or sequins maybe?) Thanks in advance, and happy to see that this blog is back!

Hello there!
Several ideas:
One is what you mentioned with translating it to 3D, that is, making it with angles that jut out into space all around your head. that doesn't sound like the direction you want to go in, though.
Another is to make it soft. Use a material like tulle or a chiffon tricot to create a fireball type look. This would also help a lot with the lighting, since it would diffuse any lights you put inside it. (Battery powered fairy lights would be great for that) Look at how people make flames or flame wigs and adapt to a different shape. Cotton or poly batting might also work for this.
Another option that seems a bit wild but I thought of it so now I have to say it is to use foil. Crumpled foil. It wouldn't be very durable and wouldn't diffuse lights well, but it would be reflective, so any light shone on it would be reflected back and it might look fun in photos, but probably more fun in photos and controlled lighting situations than irl.
I don't think fiber optic fabric is a good contender here but I have to mention it anyway. You might be able to have some fun with fiber optics, though, like those light up fiber optic toys. Bunches of fiber optic fiber that you frost the sides of (to diffuse the light and have it come out the sides a bit) basically styled into the spikes like a wig might just work.
Just put a really bright miner's light on your forehead to dazzle everyone
Even wilder method: remember those silicone lightbulbs from the late 90s?
It would be hard to build up enough silicone to create spikes that big, but this over some sort of base would work well, if heavy.
I wonder if you could do the 3D method with angled pieces but make it out of a translucent white or frosted plastic? Like the stuff used for corrugated signs or Sintra. It would diffuse the lights inside and create a fun look. Honestly, this is the method I would do.
For the lights, LED strips, fairy lights, or any other bright battery operated light. It would depend on the type of helmet you make for it, though, depending on what you can fit inside it. Typically, a bunch of smaller lights will end up with a more even look than one super bright light over a larger area, since the light needs to travel too far around your head to light the whole thing up, but that does create hot spots of light that you need to diffuse.
and yes, that can easily be a painted bodysuit.
I hope this helps! Good luck :]

Jukebox Sweetheart- Shiu Kong

Reader is a go-go dancer, swearing, violence, blood, no use of (Y/n), names include; sweetheart, doll, lady. mentions of alcohol and drugs. Reader is confident and bold. not proofread.
heart divider from @bernardsbendystraws cyber divider from @saradika-graphics
The piercing strobe lights did nothing to alleviate the oncoming headache Shiu felt. He sat in a circular booth, Toji and Sukuna by his side as they listened to the club manager's- Hudson- incessant monologue of excuses. The last few months had been prosperous ones for their chain of nightclubs which littered the city. All except one, which had brought an influx of police reports, violence, and drug related incidences, posing a threat to the exclusive status they sought to maintain.
The substances and business that came with this type of nightlife was no secret. It was unavoidable and truthfully the trio could not care less; there were only a few rules: don't get caught, don't create trouble, and pay what you owe.
Clearly there must have been some miscommunication along the way.
By looking around there were no obvious reasons for the lack of income. The club was full to the brim, constant movements of the crowd imitated rouge waves and LED panels that ran in strips from ceiling to floor eliminated any attempt at modesty. The room had merged into one neon blur and Shiu found himself counting down the seconds until he could leave.
Though, there was something that had caught his eye among the chaos. Someone.
You were stood on a heightened platform by the DJ wearing a skimpy excuse of an outfit that would no doubt get you arrested for public indecency anywhere else. Your hips moved in provocative rehearsed movements, matching the beat of whatever obscene song was playing and though the sparkling red tassels of your top and skirt made you the embodiment of an encrusted necklace in the catching light, Shius' eyes could not be moved from yours. He was enamored.
What was it? He didn't know and he didn't mind to find out. It was like you were his own private show as the crowd continued, too engrossed in their own ecstasy. How he reveled in it.
"Gentlemen, please understand-"
"We've heard enough of your bullshit, Hudson so don't give us another reason to get rid of you" Toji seethes, as his hand makes hard contact with the table, leaning in dangerously close.
This was the reason Shiu was here. The mediator. The voice of reason between the two hot-heads. But today he needed a break.
"I suggest you understand were the money for the last two months profit went before-"
"I'm getting more drinks" Shiu announces dismissively and Hudson perks up, seeing this as a chance to diffuse the tension. He silently thanks the stars before bursting out,
"No, please! Let one of my girls do that for you-"
"I'll be fine."
"I insist-"
"No."
And with that, he left, impartial to Hudson's badly disguised plea.
You had never felt so high- well, you had probably never been so high either considering the amount of swirling smoke that lingered in the air- but that was besides the point. Tonight you felt alive. You didn't need this job. With your father being a successful business man and overall coming from a stable background of money you never had to worry about keeping the lights on. You had the best nanny, were sent to the best nursery, primary school, college and now university where you weren't going to leave drowning in debt. Your life was one everyone else dreamed of, never experiencing the materialistic lows...never experiencing the familial highs- not going as far to say you have daddy issues, no, but you had never been particularly close with either of your parents and left school with only superficial relationships.
Maybe that was why you found yourself in these situations. Flirting but never dating, changing personalities depending on who you met, just doing enough to have someone take interest in you was all you ever needed to feel the adrenaline surge through your veins. The attention made you happy and now you were getting all of it.
Getting all of it from him.
Throughout your set you kept your eyes trained on him. A faceless silhouette of a man who seemed ever so intrigued. It wasn't the first time a client paid increased interest in you -that was how you bought the £2000 fur coat you came here in- but it was the first time you paid any interest back, his face becoming visible as he stood up, disappearing into the unidentifiable crowd. Which is why you made your way down from the platform without a second thought.
Hudson would probably scold you later for it but that didn't matter. Supposedly he was in a meeting for the majority of the night anyway, so if none of the other girls let it slip then he wouldn't have to know in the first place.
Waltzing through the room in character you frantically scoped for the man like a predator to its prey until you spotted him- sat on a stool at the bar.
Now what? From the watch on his right hand and his suit you could tell he had money, or at least was good at pretending he did but- who wore a suit to a nightclub? Maybe he was an unfortunate salary man down on his luck but with such a strict dress code, what were the chances of him being let in? Was he here to make a deal with Hudson? You prayed it wasn't the latter, if you messed this up there would be no amount of pleading that could stop you from being fired and as much as you didn't need this job, you loved it. There's no use turning back now. You've already left your post so you might as well have a good reason for it.
Walking up from behind him you dragged your hand across the back of his shoulders as you sat, allowing the tips of your pink patterned nails to press through his blazer into his skin.
"You've been watching me." You say, eyes fluttering in a sultry gaze.
Good God was he handsome. His dark hair was kept short, combed intentionally to the side. He looked up at you with fox-like eyes, you couldn't decided whether they were dark green or light brown but it didn't take much effort to be captivated by them and the charming smile he graced you with.
"I could say the same to you."
You feign a giggle, inching your hand to take the drink in his before continuing,
"You're quite the sight, not everyday a man in a suit comes into a place like this."
He chuckles.
"Sorry for not matching your attire sweetheart, but I'm here for business."
"Good to know."
You knew better than to ask what kind. You smile up at him, eyes staring into his as you take a swing of his drink- the once scorching burn now a mere tingle down your throat.
"Drinking on the job?" he raises an eyebrow at you
"I'm not, I'm entertaining a customer."
"By drinking the customers drink?"
"He didn't have anything to say when i took it, so yes. Unless my generous customer would like to buy me a drink instead?"
Shiu laughs at your boldness. You certainly matched your appearance and if it weren't for the fact he had been drinking, he worried the slight pink flush on his face would give away your salacious affect on him.
"And what will the lady have?" He asks showing the bartender his card.
"whatever this was, please" you say gesturing to the cup.
"How polite"
"I thought i was a lady"
"A lady who i don't yet know the name of"
"That's okay, I think i prefer the ones you've given me so far"
The night progressed with flirty exchanges, the two of you sharing basic information about yourselves until you knew where he grew up- Korea- and he knew about your university life. It was the first time in a while you felt someone had paid genuine interest in you, asking thoughtful questions about the topic and picking up on minor details. If you weren't careful you could easily tell him your life story as you began to unintentionally let your guard down, prior thoughts of rinsing him of his money slipping away from your mind in the midst of your newly found amity. He had remained respectful during your encounter, keeping a fair distance, eyes not wondering once.
It wasn't until the familiar entrance calling from the dj that signaled your next act blared through the speaker had you realised just how long you had spent together.
"Oh shit...Unfortunately I have to leave you, it's my turn back on the platform" you smile tepidly.
"That's a shame, Doll. I enjoyed your company", His deep voice begins as he stands up. So he was tall too? It all seemed too good to be true. "Am I still not allowed to know your name?"
"I don't know yours" you step forward.
"Shiu."
You take another step, reaching up to rest your hands on his shoulders and keep balance as you stood on your toes, pressing a soft, prolonged kiss on his defined cheek.
oh bold you were.
"Thank you for the drinks, Shiu"
You turned around, walking off without a second glance.
Shiu stood there, watching as you disappeared out of view with a face of disbelief. Should he of felt used? Maybe, but he couldn't help but want more. Now he had a taste of you he couldn't feel satisfied with just a view from a booth. He wanted to know more. He wanted to ask more. More...more...His head filled with inquisitive ruminations. He wondered if he should've asked for a number, though he could find that through records just like your name, he wanted it to be you who told him.
Wandering back to the booth he was greeted with empty seats, the first major warning sign. He let out a deep sigh, already knowing where the rest of the night was heading.
The music died down as he made it to the back of the building, soon being replaced with a series of grunts and the cracking of knuckles. He opened the door to find blood splattered on the concrete floor, acting as a red carpet to his arrival.
Sukuna sat ontop of Hudson landing blow after blow to his face while Toji sat on top of an empty shipping crate watching intently with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. His knuckles where red indicating he was simply taking a break before he decided to join Sukuna again in their little spontaneous activity.
"Where the hell have you been?!" The aforementioned man yells out passing the two men on the floor with a look that could kill.
"I got busy with something. Last time i remembered killing someone was not in our plans for tonight"
"Don't try and tell me about 'our plans for tonight' when you pissed off to fuck knows where, Shiu"
"All I'm saying is we are going to have to cover this up and find a replacement before tomorrow-"
"That's your problem to worry about now, don't you think?", Sukuna pauses his actions to speak, "Compensation for slacking off today. We were the ones who put in the hard work of finding out where the money went after all."
Shiu shakes his head in deep irritation before letting out a sound of agreement. He knew what would happen if he left them alone, this was the price to pay.
It looks like you're getting a new boss.

Light box/Drawing table!!

This is what Ive really been working on the last few days, and its done!! ^^ (technically it's still too cold for wood finishing, but all the functional parts are done, so I can begin using it)
the design was based on an ergonomics page I found on the animation guild website ( https://animationguild.org/ergonomics-for-animation-artists/ ). I layed out dimensions for the upper part based on the angles they recommended, then built a cardboard mock-up to test how the angle would feel, and see how tall the legs needed to be
the writing surface is about 31x19, and is made from a piece of clear acrylic. The lighting is 480 led per meter led strip, about 5 meters, and is really quite bright (the first and second picture are taken with the same room lighting but with phone auto-exposeure).
the body of the table is bade from scrap 1/2 ply (construction grade, its actually off-cuts from the walls of the garage lol) and 1" boards (mostly 1x4 but one 1x6 too).
It's assembled with leftover screws and hardware from other projects, plus lots of west system epoxy. This assembly method isnt really "high end" but it is very strong, and fast to put together.
the led's are mounted to a piece of hardboard, which I painted for better light bounce. (this is what the glitter paint was for, I though it might help diffuse the reflected light). the switch is in an old-work electrical box, and the little power brick is screwed to the inside of the table (it had mounting tabs built in).
the top was actually too clear, but it was all I could get locally in the right size and thickness, so I sanded the back to try and "frost" it. It's mounted all from the front with no glue in case it doesn't work, or gets stained and I need to replace it.
the hairpin legs are from amazon, because they were really cheep and easy. they arnt my favorite, but they are easily removable, so its not a problem to change them in the future.

MANAGERS OFFICE: (I want to hear your individual headcannons on this so plz anyone feel free to add on)
First off, girly has snacks EVERYWHERE, so many cabinets and drawers and secret spaces with snacks in it. Something tells me the manager likes gummy and sour candies so there's lots of those.
Pr packages from brands, at one point her office was overflowing with boxes
She has one of those type writer keyboards and the girls will just be in her office chilling and relaxing/falling asleep to the keyboard clacks
Manager has a keyboard collection on the wall with different keyboards and keycaps.
Diffuserssss everywhere, the moment you walk into her office you're just hit with a wave of calm.
Baby also has candles lit and things like plants and eucalyptus.
Fluffy blankets!!!!
Comfiest couch and bean bags.
Big TV facing her desk (the girls 100% hooked up their consoles to it)
Manager also has a wii so they'll play wii sports, wii sports resorts, mario kart, and any just dance game
(Of course they're getting competitive at the basketball game on wii sports resorts)
Extra clothes for both her and the team, sometimes she just doesn't feel like going home to change, or she has a late night.
Organized as HELL, nothing is out of place and if something is she's gonna lose it. She literally needs to be organized she's the manager, assistant coach, photographer, & the media manager. If she's not organized she's not gonna have a good time.
She's an artist so she has some of her paintings/drawings, clay figures, origami just everywhere around her office. She also has the art things that old students have made her as well.
PICTURE WALL, it gets more and more full by the day.
Bookshelf that she has both hers and books for the girls
Adding onto that, next to Paige, Ice, KK, & Nika. Azzi is in her office the most just relaxing or reading. Manager always gets new books for Azzi to read or books Azzi has been talking about. They just sit in comfortable silence.
Manager's office is placed where she can see the sunset and sunrise sooo
The SKY PICTURES
OH OMG and the GOLDEN HOUR PICTURES????? I'm gonna die
I can go on and on about her office pictures alone, girly can POSE!... PHOTOSHOOT! POSE POSE
The tiktoks tooo....... don't get me started
Speaking of the windowww
Rainy days in her office must be heavnly.
The rain hitting the window (the girls watching the raindrops race <3), the candles and diffuser doing their thing, tea brewing, lofi playing in the background.
She has a fluffy ass carpet that the girls lay on.
manager has appliances in her office backroom, tea kettle, air fryer, microwave, yeah-
Let's say manager takes her pet to school (it's either take your pet to work day or she has a service animal) baby is laying on that carpet and sunbathing
Fidget toys
Manager has that big ass Snorlax beanbag
The girls always getting her new candles and essential oils <3
She has a mini fridge that she fills with drinks.
The backroom has an even bigger fridge.
Manager collects minifigures from a series and puts them on a shelf
She has suncatchers everywhere
https://i.pinimg.com/564x/4e/8a/17/4e8a1738f067a8f4d18147cf08e45aae.jpg
^ like that :b
Led lights (either the strips or the lamps)
Bomb ass computer set up, I think she has multiple computers and a big ass desk
Perfume shelf with her favorite scents
She's always going to office supply stores cuz she's always running out
Manager journals and has a shit ton of stationary items for it like pens, stickers, washi tape, etc.
She keeps her space C L E A N, and WILL scold anyone who fucks it up
Something tells me she's one of those people that hate shoes in her office, like she has slippers she makes people put on or they take off their shoes, keep their socks on and put them next to the door before they enter.
All the pain medication, go to her for it, it's in her drawer.
All of the teams comfort snacks and items are in her office in case they're overstimulated/ need a break.
Makeup drawer with a little mirror incase she needs a touch up.
Her lunches are amaaazing, she kinda had to start bringing extra cuz the team
Manager has little art projects sometimes, like those DIY wisteria flowers you hand from the ceiling or that cloud LED light thing where you put cotton over the led light strips and it looks like electricity.
But they buy her fast food so she doesn't mind,,,,,too much
"KK get the FUCK OUTTA MY PASTA GIRL!"
Since manager sucks with her phone, especially when she's locked in. The girls got her a LoveNote box where the heart spins everytime she gets a message, and they're just reminders from the girls or other silly messages.
The most common one being "You better be home in 15 minutes or we're gonna drag you out."
To be honest, if I were the manager, I wouldn't want to leave my office either, working or not.
-🐹
this is. a damn masterpiece CAUSE YES
baby girl is soooo damn organized and the whole food thing is so real, they're eating her lunch and she's just like... "but my pasta..." and they're like WE NEED THE CARBS!!!!!!!!!
if i was manager i'd never wanna leave either CAUSE IT SOUNDS... AMAZING HOLY COW

Mistborn Shadow Box Complete!
For a prototype, I like the outcome. Very little I feel the need to change for the next ones.

Some difficulty getting the paper layers flat. Resin has a weird density so it's hard to gage what will sink or float and the paper was struggling to decide where it wanted to go.
I'm really glad I stuck with keeping every piece framed and cut to size, otherwise the elements would have almost certainly shifted places while the resin cured.

How it started

How it's going.
A lot of thoughts on this one. Mica powder misbehaving... mists a touch too aggressive muddling the background shapes... hard to keep track of that silhouette between the Mist and the backflip... but man I love how the Allomancy lines pop!
But back-lit...

That's what I'm talkin' about!
Even a gentler light behind it looks incredible

Shame it undercuts the bright blue lines. I'll have to puzzle that one out.
Now I just have to figure out how to display it. Do I put an LED strip around the sides and try to spread the layers a tad more? Do I add some diffuser material between it and a single LED behind it? Or just make a windowsill stand. Puzzling.
Anyway, I want to make one for Yumi and Painter using EL wire for the Hion lines but I need ideas... y'all got any?

'Ghost towns' of the universe: Ultra-faint, rare dwarf galaxies offer clues to the early cosmos
Three ultra-faint dwarf galaxies residing in an isolated region of space were found to contain only very old stars, supporting the theory that events in the early universe cut star formation short in the smallest galaxies.
A team of astronomers led by David Sand, a professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona Steward Observatory, has uncovered three faint and ultra-faint dwarf galaxies in the vicinity of NGC 300, a galaxy approximately 6.5 million light-years from Earth. These rare discoveries – named Sculptor A, B and C – offer an unprecedented opportunity to study the smallest galaxies in the universe and the cosmic forces that halted their star formation billions of years ago.
Sand presented the findings, which are published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, during a press briefing at the 245th Meeting of the American Astronomical Society in National Harbor, Maryland, on Wednesday.
Ultra-faint dwarf galaxies are the faintest type of galaxy in the universe. Typically containing just a few hundred to thousands of stars – compared to the hundreds of billions that make up the Milky Way – these small diffuse structures usually hide inconspicuously among the many brighter residents of the sky. For this reason, astronomers have previously had the most luck finding them nearby, in the vicinity of the Milky Way.
But this presents a problem for understanding them; the Milky Way's gravitational forces and hot gases in its outermost reaches strip away the dwarf galaxies' gas and interfere with their natural evolution. Additionally, further beyond the Milky Way, ultra-faint dwarf galaxies increasingly become too diffuse and unresolvable for astronomers and traditional computer algorithms to detect.
"Small galaxies like these are remnants from the early universe," Sand said. "They help us understand what conditions were like when the first stars and galaxies formed, and why some galaxies stopped creating new stars entirely."
A manual search by eye was needed to discover three faint and ultra-faint dwarf galaxies. Sand saw them when reviewing images taken for the DECam Legacy Survey, or DECaLS, one of three public surveys known as the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys, which jointly imaged about a third of the sky to provide targets for the ongoing Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, or DESI, Survey.
"It was during the pandemic," Sand recalled. "I was watching TV and scrolling through the DESI Legacy Survey viewer, focusing on areas of sky that I knew hadn't been searched before. It took a few hours of casual searching – and then boom! They just popped out."
The Sculptor galaxies are among the first ultra-faint dwarf galaxies found in a pristine, isolated environment free from the influence of the Milky Way or other large structures. To investigate these galaxies further, Sand and his team used the Gemini South telescope, one half of the International Gemini Observatory, partly funded by the NSF and operated by NSF NOIRLab..
Gemini South's Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph captured all three galaxies in exquisite detail. An analysis of the data showed that they appear to be empty of gas and contain only very old stars, suggesting that their star formation was stifled long ago. This bolsters existing theories that ultra-faint dwarf galaxies are stellar "ghost towns" where star formation was cut off in the early universe.
"This is exactly what we would expect for such tiny objects," Sand said. "Gas is the crucial raw material required to coalesce and ignite the fusion of a new star. But ultra-faint dwarf galaxies just have too little gravity to hold on to this all-important ingredient, and it is easily lost when they are affected by nearby, massive galaxies."
Because the Sculptor galaxies are far from any larger galaxies, their gas could not have been removed by giant neighbors. An alternative explanation is what astronomers call the Epoch of Reionization – a period not long after the Big Bang when high-energy ultraviolet photons filled the cosmos, potentially boiling away the gas in the smallest galaxies. Another possibility is that some of the earliest stars in the dwarf galaxies underwent energetic supernova explosions, emitting ejecta at up to 35 million kilometers (about 20 million miles) per hour and pushing the gas out of their own hosts from within.
Dwarf galaxies could open a window into studying the very early universe, according to the research team, because the Epoch of Reionization potentially connects the current-day structure of all galaxies with the earliest formation of structure on a cosmological scale.
"We don't know how strong or uniform this reionization effect was," Sand explained. "It could be that reionization is patchy, not occurring everywhere all at once."
To answer that question, astronomers need to find more objects like the Sculptor galaxies. By enlisting machine learning tools, Sand and his team hope to automate and accelerate discoveries, in hopes that astronomers can draw stronger conclusions.
IMAGE: The three ultra-faint dwarf galaxies reside in a region of space isolated from the environmental influence of larger objects. Containing only very old stars, they support the theory that star formation was cut short in the early universe. Credit DECaLS/DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys/LBNL/DOE & KPNO/CTIO/NOIRLab/NSF/AURA

Why do some race cars have tape over their headlights?
Race cars often have tape over their headlights for safety, regulatory compliance, and practical reasons, which vary depending on the racing series and vehicle type. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
1. Safety: Preventing Shattered Debris In high-speed collisions or routine bumping during races, exposed glass headlights can shatter into sharp fragments, posing serious hazards to drivers, track marshals, and other vehicles. To mitigate this:
Tape or stickers are applied over headlights to hold broken glass together if the light housing cracks.
In some cases, headlights are entirely replaced with fake stickers that mimic real lights but lack functional glass or bulbs, eliminating the risk of shattering.
2. Reducing Glare for Competitors In endurance races or nighttime events where headlights are necessary (e.g., the Suzuka 8 Hours), the tape serves a dual purpose:
Anti-glare function: Specialized tape (often opaque or patterned) diffuses light to prevent blinding other drivers, especially during close racing or cornering.
Compliance with regulations: Some racing series, like MotoGP, require headlights to be covered with non-transparent tape during daylight races to avoid distracting glare.
3. Regulatory Requirements Certain racing bodies enforce strict rules about headlight usage:
Fake headlights: Many race cars use stickers instead of real headlights to comply with homologation rules (e.g., WSBK mandates decals that resemble production models for branding consistency).
Weight reduction: Functional headlights add unnecessary weight, so they’re replaced with lightweight alternatives (e.g., stickers or minimal LED strips).
4. Endurance Racing Exceptions In endurance races spanning day and night (e.g., the 24 Hours of Le Mans), headlights are essential but designed with durability in mind:
Reinforced housings: Headlights are often smaller, lighter, and made from polycarbonate to withstand impacts.
Tape reinforcement: Even functional lights may have protective tape to guard against debris and vibrations.
5. Historical and Practical Evolution The practice has roots in both safety innovation and cost-saving measures:
Early racing: Glass headlights were prone to breaking, leading to makeshift tape solutions.
Modern materials: Advances in adhesives and plastics allow for durable, track-safe alternatives like honeycomb-patterned films.
Key Takeaways Reason Implementation Example Debris prevention Shatterproof tape/stickers NASCAR, Touring Car Championships Glare reduction Opaque or diffusing tape MotoGP rain races Regulatory compliance Fake headlight decals WSBK homologation rules Endurance racing needs Lightweight, reinforced housings + tape Suzuka 8 Hours
For drivers and teams, balancing visibility, safety, and regulation adherence is critical. While the tape may seem rudimentary, it’s a carefully engineered solution to meet the unique demands of motorsport.

LED tape strips are surprisingly strong and resilient. i've had two reels in my materials box for a very long time that i originally saved from the bin, they were part of a shop display from a former workplace of mine. these poor diodes had been torn up from their adhesive backing and were really in a sorry state; completely twisted, bunched and stuck together. took five minutes to straighten and testing them and found they were basically still perfect! if you're familiar with these cheap rgb LED strips at all they are basically a dream to work with too, you can easily cut them to length and wire them up in a variety of configurations. i'm using these ones to make a large light table/box for tracing. if anyone is interested at all let me know i can post some pics, not bothered otherwise lol. even though it is kind of an interesting project because i;m also repurposing the fresnel+diffuser layers from a large television...

Heya dear mootie!🐍
I saw that you want to cosplay at a convention next year, what do you want to cosplay?~
Have you cosplayed before and if so what was your favorite one? ✨️
HI SVENN sry this took a while to answer omg i got excited and have a lot to say ok
My DREAM cosplays are locked behind my measurements and top surgery low key bc they involve bodysuits LMAO but spiderman has been my biggest fixation for the last 15 or so years and while ive done a miles morales cosplay in the past i was p pleased with i always layer clothes on top. have dreams of specifically the 70s tv show suit, the amazing spiderman 2 suit (my favorite live action suit), and as visually accurate as possible atsv miles suit

The sleeper agent cosplay that lives forever in my soul is the 42 prowler suit from atsv. There’s SO MUCH technical work that i want to put into it that i get overwhelmed and put it on back burner but whenever i remember i get almost obesssive. I have so many ideas. Actually right before i started dealing with some health issues i began learning from youtube vids how to wire LED light strips and code arduino boards so that the lights can animate in fun colors and soldering properly so that i could animate lights in his bracer claw. Was also building his helmet!I hope to pick it back up sometime but i dont have any space in my room anymore to work on it unfortunately

All my good progress pics are on my old phone but here’s some kinda crappy photos of early in the process lol, idk if they’re really legible. The last shot is messing around w diffusers which was rlly fun too

All that being said, I think the actual cosplay I’m gonna work on for this upcoming con is red from bomb rush cyberfunk bc he’s a lot simpler lol. I also might be going as Len kagamine w my younger sister as Rin (but with a cowboys and aliens twist on the characters) bc shes rlly into Vloid rn and wants to come with me and I’d love to go all out to support her, and tbh theres like 12 different jjba cosplays i wanna do at some point

Other cosplays i have done are akira fudo from devilman, death the kid from soul eater (my fave so far!) gumball from amazing world of gumball which is another i did w my kid sibling as darwin, an obligatory howls moving castle cosplay, and probs a handful more in my middle school years i cant remember so well any more. I’m very much a casual and dont take pics of my finished works or post them anywhere but i just think its a lot of fun to make stuff and go to things dressed up and will take any excuse to do so
#Ty for the question!!! :D#I actually worked at conventions most summers so my proximity to cosplay in general is just super high i have an immense love for the craft#I might get paranoid later and edit this post to censor all the fandom names but since this post isnt about ykw i think its fine

Personal peeve of mine that doesn't matter to anyone else on the planet is when people call those signs made out of those side emitting led strips with the silicone diffuser on them "neon signs". It ain't got no neon in it!!!! (AND the operating requirements and characteristics could not be more different)
Not to mention actual neon doesn't even come close to searing your eyes out by accident in terms of brightness(I'm a bright lights hater)
#tetranynous.txt#actual neon signs are becoming a rarity nowadays; at least over here#one of the 2 places that instantly comes to mind of places that still have them is a local subway(sandwich) of all places#but ive seen at least 2 more smashed; offgas and die this year :(. theres nobody left that can repair them#the woes of the autism engineer wombo combo

Let’s jump in, shall we?
Why Modern Home Decor Makes Great Gifts
Modern home decor gifts are a hit for one simple reason: they fit anywhere. They tend to be sleek, practical, and not overly personal — meaning you’re less likely to get that awkward “thanks… I think” response.
Also, let’s face it: everyone wants their space to feel a little more Pinterest-worthy.

25 Best Modern Home Decoration Gifts
1. Smart LED Light Strips
These color-changing lights bring a whole vibe to any room. Whether it's behind a TV, under a bed, or around a mirror, they instantly modernize a space.
2. Minimalist Wall Clocks
Forget those clunky, outdated timepieces. Sleek wall clocks with clean lines and muted tones make a bold statement without saying much at all.
3. Floating Shelves
Perfect for displaying plants, books, or tiny treasures. They work in literally any room — from bathrooms to entryways.
4. Scented Soy Candles in Concrete Holders
Talk about blending form and function. These smell amazing and look like art on your coffee table.
5. Geometric Vases
Pair these with fresh blooms or leave them empty — they’re basically sculptures in disguise.
6. Abstract Wall Art Sets
They add personality without overpowering a room. Go for neutral tones if you’re unsure of their color palette.
7. Linen Throw Blankets
They’re not just cozy — when draped over a couch or bed, they instantly make a space feel “done.”
8. Ceramic Diffusers
Way more aesthetic than your average plug-in. Plus, they come in shapes and colors to match any decor style.
9. Modern Table Lamps
Think sculptural bases, matte finishes, and soft ambient lighting. A small touch that makes a big difference.
10. Personalized House Number Sign
Yes, even the outside can get a stylish upgrade. These make amazing housewarming gifts.
Midway Tip: Gift Cards Work Too!
Still unsure what to get? A modern home decor store gift card is always a safe bet. You can even check your balance or get one online using [giftcardmall/mygift balance] options. That way, they can pick exactly what they want — and you still look thoughtful.
11. Framed Line Art Prints
Super on-trend and usually come in affordable sets. These work especially well in bedrooms and offices.
12. Indoor Hanging Planters
Perfect for the plant parent in your life. They free up shelf space and add life to any room.
13. LED Mirror with Backlight
These are sleek, Insta-worthy, and totally functional — especially for makeup lovers.
14. Acrylic Trays
For the coffee table, vanity, or entryway catch-all. They keep things looking tidy and modern.
15. Textured Cushion Covers
Go for velvet, boucle, or even faux leather. Changing cushion covers is an easy way to upgrade any room.
16. Metallic Candle Holders
They scream luxury without the price tag. Try brass or matte black for that ultra-modern feel.
17. Neutral Wall Tapestries
No, not the college dorm ones. We're talking earthy tones and minimalist patterns that elevate a blank wall.
18. Designer Coasters
They’re small, but mighty. Look for marble, resin, or wood styles that match a modern vibe.
19. Books on Design
Coffee table books are decor and entertainment. Find one that fits their aesthetic (think modern architecture, minimalism, or plant care).
20. Rechargeable Handheld Lamps
They’re cordless, portable, and oddly satisfying. Great for late-night reading or as ambient light.
Another Handy Tip
21. Color-Changing Moon Lamp
This adds a soft glow and makes the perfect bedside table companion — like having your own mini planet.
22. Concrete Planters
They’re modern, minimal, and work with nearly any plant. Bonus if they come in a set.
23. Black and White Photo Frames
Classy, timeless, and ultra-versatile. You can even pre-fill them with fun snapshots.
24. Magnetic Key Holder Shelf
This little gadget looks like a decor piece but doubles as a super handy entryway organizer.
25. Spherical Glass Terrariums
Hang them or place them on a shelf. Add air plants or moss, and boom — tiny modern jungles.
Final Thoughts: The Art of Giving (Stylishly)
Gifting modern home decor isn’t just about pretty things — it’s about giving something that adds personality, comfort, and function to someone’s space. Whether you go with a statement piece or something subtle and sweet, these ideas are sure to impress.
Remember, you don’t have to overthink it. If all else fails, let them choose their own dream decor with a little help from a gift card or online balance check.
Here’s to giving gifts that feel like home — and look amazing while doing it.

Illuminating Elegance: Why Minimalist & Scandinavian Lighting Dominates Global Design
The global interior design landscape continues to embrace serenity and sustainability, propelling Minimalist and Scandinavian lighting trends to unprecedented prominence. These styles, celebrated for their clean lines, functional beauty, and inherent warmth, are no longer fleeting fads but enduring design philosophies shaping how we illuminate our homes and commercial spaces worldwide. For architects, interior designers, and discerning homeowners, understanding this trend is key to creating environments that resonate with contemporary sensibilities.
1.The Enduring Allure of Scandinavian Simplicity
Born from the Nordic need to maximize light during long winters, Scandinavian lighting design is a masterclass in functional elegance. Its core principles resonate powerfully today: ● Form Follows Function: Every curve, angle, and material choice serves a purpose. Designs prioritize optimal light distribution and user experience over unnecessary ornamentation. ● Natural Materials & Textures: Wood (oak, ash, beech), ceramic, linen, and powder-coated metals bring organic warmth and tactile appeal, softening the minimalist aesthetic and connecting interiors to nature. ● Soft, Diffused Light: Harsh glare is anathema. Fixtures are designed to create ambient, welcoming illumination – think fabric shades, opal glass globes, and indirect lighting techniques that mimic the gentle Nordic sky. ● Organic Shapes: While clean-lined, Scandinavian design often incorporates subtle curves and flowing forms inspired by nature, adding visual interest without clutter.
2. Minimalism: The Power of Less, Illuminated
Minimalism: The Power of Less, Illuminated ● Essential Forms: Geometric precision – spheres, cylinders, clean-edged cubes, and linear profiles – reigns supreme. Extraneous details are stripped away, leaving only the essential, beautiful form. ● Neutral Palette: Whites, blacks, grays, and natural metal finishes (brass, chrome, matte black) dominate, ensuring fixtures blend seamlessly or act as subtle sculptural statements. ● Focus on Craftsmanship: With fewer elements, the quality of materials and construction becomes paramount. The beauty lies in the precision and finish. ● Decluttered Ambiance: Minimalist lighting contributes to an overall sense of spaciousness and calm, reducing visual noise and allowing architectural features or key furnishings to shine.
3. Sustainability: A Core Luminary Principle
Both trends inherently align with the growing global demand for sustainable design. The emphasis on durability, timeless aesthetics (resisting fast-fashion cycles), natural materials, and energy efficiency (often utilizing long-lasting LED integration) makes Minimalist and Scandinavian lighting a responsible choice for the eco-conscious consumer and project specifier. What are some innovative ways to use Indoor LED lighting for interior design and decor?
Indoor LED lighting has evolved far beyond its original function of simply illuminating spaces. It now serves as a versatile tool in interior design and decor, offering creative ways to enhance the ambiance, mood, and overall aesthetic of any room. Whether you’re aiming to create a cozy atmosphere, highlight architectural features, or add a pop of color to your decor, LED lighting provides endless possibilities.
Accent Lighting for Architectural Features
One of the most innovative ways to use indoor LED lighting is to accentuate architectural elements in your space. Whether it’s a feature wall, a stunning ceiling design, or an elegant column, LED strips or spotlights can be strategically placed to highlight these features. The soft, focused glow of LED lights can create dramatic effects that make a room feel more sophisticated and inviting.
For example, use LED lighting to illuminate a textured wall or a beautiful piece of artwork, casting shadows and creating depth. The subtle yet striking light adds an element of drama without overpowering the space. This technique not only brings attention to key design elements but also enhances the visual appeal of your interior design.
Dynamic Mood Lighting
Gone are the days when lighting was a static feature in a room. With indoor LED lighting, you can now experiment with different colors and intensities to set the perfect mood for any occasion. Smart LED lights, which can change colors with a tap of your phone or a voice command, allow you to adjust the lighting to suit your needs.
For a romantic dinner, opt for a warm amber or soft pink hue. If you’re hosting a party, you can switch to vibrant colors that reflect energy and excitement. Moreover, LED lights are perfect for creating a calming environment in bedrooms or living rooms, offering cooler tones to help with relaxation and sleep. This flexibility makes LED lighting an indispensable tool for interior design.
Under-Cabinet and Under-Shelf Lighting
LED strip lights have become a favorite for under-cabinet and under-shelf lighting, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. These hidden lights offer a sleek, modern look that enhances the overall design without taking up any visible space. They’re perfect for task lighting, such as illuminating countertops in kitchens or providing additional light in bathrooms for grooming and makeup application.
In addition to their functional benefits, under-cabinet lighting can create an ambient glow, transforming the atmosphere of the room. This technique is particularly popular in minimalist designs, where clean lines and subtle details are key to the overall aesthetic. The soft, diffuse light makes spaces feel more open and spacious, contributing to an uncluttered and calm environment.
Illuminating Mirrors and Artwork
Another innovative use for indoor LED lighting is to illuminate mirrors and artwork. Whether in the bathroom, hallway, or living room, LED lights can be installed around mirrors to provide even, flattering lighting. This not only helps with tasks such as shaving or applying makeup but also adds a luxurious feel to the space.
For artwork, LED spotlights or track lighting can highlight the details of a painting, sculpture, or photo collection. The focused light draws attention to the art while creating a gallery-like atmosphere in your home. This technique elevates your interior design by showcasing your personal style and the pieces you value most.
LED Lighting as a Design Element
Incorporating LED lighting directly into your interior design can transform it from functional to visually striking. Consider integrating LED strips into the edges of furniture or along the baseboards of a room. This creates a floating effect that gives your furniture and decor a modern, futuristic look. You can also install LED lights inside shelves, creating a beautiful, illuminated display for books, decorative items, or plants.
This form of ambient lighting adds a sense of depth and interest to your interior design, enhancing the space with a glow that’s both subtle and captivating. It can be particularly impactful in creating contrast against dark-colored walls or furniture, making the lighting a key design feature.
Energy-Efficient and Eco-Friendly Lighting
One of the standout benefits of using indoor LED lighting in your interior design is its energy efficiency. LED lights consume less power than traditional bulbs, making them an eco-friendly choice for anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint. They also last much longer, which means less frequent replacements and reduced waste.
Incorporating LED lighting into your home not only saves you money on electricity bills but also supports a more sustainable lifestyle. As more people look to make their homes more energy-efficient, LED lights are becoming a popular choice for modern interiors, offering a green solution without compromising on style.
