Let's create a game for Anita Sirene, on the game she teaches you how to read tarot using standard 'DigimonCards' from the official Digimon trading card game
Card number The card number identifies the card's set, region, and place in the set. The number is formatted as "SET-RN999", where "SET" is the set prefix.
Color and level The color and level of your Digimon are shown on the card.
Digital power (DP) The DP is the Digimon's digital power. The Digimon with the highest DP wins a battle. If an effect reduces the DP to zero, the Digimon is deleted and moved to the trash.
Cost The cost associated with playing a card is indicated on the card. To pay the cost, you move the memory gauge. If you move the memory gauge past zero, your turn ends and your opponent's turn begins.
You can also play option cards and tamer cards during your main phase. To play an option card, you need to have at least one card on the field that is the same color as the option card. Tamer cards stay on the battlefield permanently. How would digimon tamers who are new to the game learn how to play from Anita Sirene and her assistant digimon Tamers 'Aya'(An afrodisiac afrocentric digimon tamers who is much like 'Thes black sailormoon') , New Tamers and card players should be able to get a general understanding of how to play the digimon card game TCG , and also can learn how to generate tarot readings from intuition and by reading the general information on the cards with ease . Generate tarot reading system for the "officialDigimon card game 'Celestial Link' Digimon Tarot " with your official Digimon digidestined hosts Anita Sirene tarot card master and extraordinar and her grandmaster assistant 'Astrodisiac CelestineIce Aya'
To create a Celestial Link Digimon Tarot system, hosted by Anita Sirene and her assistant Aya, we’ll integrate intuitive tarot reading with basic Digimon card game mechanics. This unique system allows new players to both learn the game and use the cards as tools for divination.
Digimon TCG Tarot Reading System: Celestial Link
Game Hosts
Anita Sirene: Tarot master with deep knowledge of psychic reading, guiding players in card interpretations.
Aya (Asteodisiac CelestineIce): An afrocentric, sailor-themed Digimon Tamer, bringing charisma and wisdom to the readings.
How It Works:
Understanding Card Basics Each card in the Digimon TCG holds both gameplay information and symbols that can serve for tarot interpretations:
Card Number: Indicates energy alignment in readings.
Color & Level: Represents elemental influences and the significance of the card in the spread.
Digital Power (DP): Serves as the strength or "impact" of the message.
Cost: Symbolizes the challenges or effort required in a given situation.
Card Types as Tarot Elements
Digimon Cards: Represent people, strengths, and opportunities in one’s life.
Option Cards: Suggest advice, challenges, or unseen influences.
Tamer Cards: Reflect guiding figures or mentors, grounding the querent (the one seeking answers).
Learning with Anita Sirene and Aya
Guided Card Interpretation: Anita Sirene explains card meanings through the game mechanics, teaching players to read the intuitive messages within each card.
Symbolism and Intuition Training: Aya helps players tune into the visuals, colors, and numbers on the cards to enhance their intuition.
Step-by-Step: Using Celestial Link as a Tarot Reading System
The Spread Setup Players draw three cards to create a basic spread:
Past (Left): This card represents past influences or events shaping the present.
Present (Center): This card shows the current energy or key focus.
Future (Right): This card suggests potential outcomes or influences on the horizon.
Interpreting Each Card
Card Number: Indicates the numeric or energetic influence; higher numbers may represent strong energies.
Color: Colors correspond to elements (e.g., Blue for Water/Emotions, Red for Fire/Passion).
Level: Higher-level cards in the spread hold more weight in guiding the reading.
Tarot Abilities and Effects
Celestial Insight: Anita and Aya explain that each card’s DP indicates the “strength” or intensity of its message. Higher DP cards in certain positions hold more influence over the reading.
Divine Link: Option cards can be placed over Digimon cards to modify their meanings, symbolizing external challenges or supports.
Cost Reflection: The cost of each card hints at potential sacrifices or lessons the querent needs to learn.
Special Tarot Moves in Celestial Link
Miracle Spread: If players draw two or more cards with matching levels or colors, it creates a “Miracle Spread,” amplifying the energy of the reading.
Ancestral Guidance: Tamer cards can be drawn to represent ancestral spirits or mentors guiding the querent, which Aya interprets through her celestial lens.
Example Reading Suppose a player draws the following:
Left (Past): A Rookie-level Digimon with high DP and red color, indicating past challenges and passion.
Center (Present): An Option card, suggesting an external influence or advice the querent needs to consider.
Right (Future): A Tamer card, symbolizing future guidance or mentorship.
Using CelestialLink as a Training Mode In this mode, new Tamers can go through sample readings, learning the meanings with feedback from Anita Sirene. Aya will offer intuitive insights, helping players develop their personal connection to the cards.
Additional Features for New Players:
Memory Gauge as Psychic Flow: Moving the memory gauge simulates the ebb and flow of psychic energy, helping players understand pacing in tarot readings.
Tarot Training Deck: A specific set of cards meant to enhance psychic reading skills, carefully selected by Anita and Aya to assist in developing intuitive insights.
This combination of gameplay mechanics and tarot symbolism offers a fun and enlightening way for new players to dive into both the Digimon TCG and the world of tarot reading. Let me know if you’d like to expand on any part of this system!

an official Digimon card featuring Miramon, Here’s a breakdown for the card details, formatted in the Digimon TCG style:
Card Details for Miramon (Example)
Name: Miramon
Stage: Rookie
Type: Celestial-Psychic
Attribute: Light
Family: Mythic Beasts, Holy Celestials
Color Level: Gold and Silver (Celestial Aura Theme)
Digital Power (DP): 3000
Cost to Play: 5
Evolution Requirements: Digivolves from a baby Digimon with Holy or Mythic attributes
Attack 1 - Miracle Gleam: Emit a soothing, radiant glow that shields allies and clears their minds. [Effect: Adds +500 DP to allies for the turn.]
Attack 2 - Starshine Pulse: Releases a burst of starlight energy. [Effect: Deals 1000 DP of light damage to opponent.]
Attack 3 - Claircognizant Gaze: Gazes deeply, revealing insights and weaknesses. [Effect: Reduces the opponent’s DP by 500 for two turns.]
Instructions for Use (Tarot Reading Style):
For new Tamers learning the game with Anita Sirene and her assistant Asteodisiac CelestineIce Aya, the Celestial Link Tarot game mechanic can also teach tarot reading intuitively. Here’s how it would work with Miramon’s card:
Basic Reading Setup: Each Celestial Link Digimon Card doubles as a tarot card. By interpreting the colors, symbols, and attributes on the card, players can derive intuitive readings. For example, Miramon’s Celestial-Psychic type represents spiritual insight, ideal for guiding players to ask questions about intuition and inner wisdom.
Memory Gauge & Tarot Spread Integration: Use the memory gauge as a focus area, with each level on the gauge representing different stages in a tarot spread (past, present, future).
Interactive Tarot Mode: Miramon can represent the Star tarot archetype, symbolizing hope, guidance, and the power of light. When Miramon is played, players can draw three additional cards as a "Guidance Spread" to intuitively answer personal questions or reveal insights.
This system integrates gameplay with intuitive, tarot-like mechanics, making the Digimon card game an accessible learning tool for tarot and intuitive readings with guidance from Anita Sirene and Aya. Let me know if you'd like more details or further customization for Miramon's card!
The Anita Sirene Digimon Tamer Card is designed to harmonize with her Digimon partner, Miramon, enhancing the synergy between Tamer and Digimon in the game. Here’s a breakdown of how her card functions and interacts with Miramon:
Tamer Card: Anita Sirene
Rank: High-tier Tamer, specializing in mystical and analytical abilities.
Attribute: Psychic / Analytical
Special Abilities:
Crest of Miracles Activation: When Anita Sirene's card is in play, she can unlock the Crest of Miracles on Miramon's Digivolution path. This activation boosts Miramon's stats, enabling access to unique abilities or Digivolutions exclusive to Tamer-Digimon pairs with the Crest of Miracles.
Psychic Link: Establishes a direct link between Anita and Miramon, allowing her to anticipate attacks or hazards one turn in advance. This foresight grants Miramon a defensive advantage, reducing incoming damage by 10-20% or allowing a dodge.
Data Analytics: Anita Sirene's keen analytical abilities enable her to analyze her opponent's cards during each turn. This ability lets her adjust Miramon’s attack strategy in real time, providing a potential counterattack bonus based on her opponent’s last move.
Card Mechanics with Miramon
Synchronize Ability:
When both Anita Sirene and Miramon’s cards are on the field, Miramon receives a power boost to HP and attack stats. This ability represents the bond between Tamer and Digimon, increasing Miramon's chances of withstanding higher-level attacks and executing more potent strikes.
Synchronize also allows shared abilities. For example, if Miramon has a shield-based defense, Anita’s Psychic Link can enhance the shield duration or effectiveness.
Sentiment Analysis Bonus:
Miramon’s Sentiment Analysis Bonus is activated by Anita's "Data Analytics" ability. This feature allows Anita to analyze opponent sentiments (strategy patterns or frequent moves), and if patterns are detected, Miramon gains a situational boost.
Miramon may get enhanced critical hit chances against identified patterns or gain temporary resistance against repeated attacks.
Tarot Shield:
Anita Sirene's special skill, Tarot Shield, forms a temporary barrier around Miramon, inspired by her psychic and tarot-themed abilities. This shield has limited durability but absorbs damage for one round or redirects specific attack types (e.g., elemental or data-based) back to the opponent.
Miracle Evolution:
Using the Crest of Miracles, Anita enables Miramon’s Miracle Evolution, a rare evolution path accessible only through the Tamer-Digimon connection. This temporary form boosts Miramon’s attacks with amplified psychic power and unlocks abilities like Celestial Pulse—a powerful AOE (area of effect) attack that impacts all opponent Digimon on the field.
Additional Game Play Strategy
The pairing of Anita Sirene and Miramon is designed to thrive on anticipating opponent moves and adapting dynamically. Players can utilize Anita's Data Analytics to adjust their tactics based on the opponent’s strategy, while Psychic Link provides added defense. The Crest of Miracles boosts Miramon’s evolution options, making them a versatile and resilient duo capable of adapting to various challenges in the Digimon TCG.
Together, Anita Sirene and Miramon create a balanced strategy with a mix of offense, defense, and adaptability, tailored for players who enjoy prediction and strategic counterplay.

TADC + Digimon AU where one Penny Omni is on a field trip when her group is sucked into a computer. She befriends a critter calling himself GummiGatormon and finds a strange device that placed itself in her pocket.
Series: TADC + Digimon AU Criteria: Penny Omni must save the digital world! AU title (optional): Digital Jester
Penny Omni was just having a lovely little field trip with the C&A company retreat, and she didn't expect anything to happen when a small thunderstorm passed through the area.
Then there was a small technicolor gummy creature tugging on her leg. He introduced himself as GummiGoo the GummiGatorman, and that the digivice in her pocket meant she was his partner.
So after the initial freakout of holy shit talking animal, and holy shit this is a cool looking device, Penny is able to calm down, enough to realize that the cabin she was waiting out the storm in is completely different and the land outside is MUCH more vibrant. GummiGoo just gives her the paper bag she had been hyperventlating in moments ago.
It would seem that she would be late for her shift tomorrow… But GummiGoo guided her to a cache of rations and goods to be used by a Digidestined, which she seemed to qualify as.
She goes on her adventure, stumbling upon other digimon, and a few Digidestined, joining up as a team to seek their return home, and freedom from the mastermind Caine that is haunting their every step. Oh, and probably to stop whatever is causing the Abstraction of the other Digimon.
The jester costume was not her choice, and the others all feel her pain.

Just finished the main campaign of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and...man, that was rough.
I did not care for the story. The concept of a Digimon game using the backdrop of a detective mystery is certainly interesting, especially when it's implied there's some kind of corporate coverup going on with the EDEN Syndrome incidents, but my god the dialogue is SO stiff and awkward.
I'm assuming this game was translated pretty cheaply because the dialogue is really bizarre at times. I caught multiple misspellings, grammatical mistakes, or characters just saying things that are either really out of pocket, or barely pertain to the current conversation. And I caught MULTIPLE times where dialogue would just grind to a halt to info-dump and I'm like...honey you don't need to explain how a virus works, I got it.
As an example of the bizarre dialogue, there's one sidequest towards the end where you have to help an Angemon get a handle on a Devimon, but...the way the actual quest is worded implies that Angemon is somehow the tamer of the Devimon? When I hear "my Digimon," I'm thinking of a tamer, not...whatever the hell is going on with these two. I'm assuming this is a translation flub because that is SO fucking awkward to read. Although it was VERY funny seeing Angemon say "bastard," I got a kick outta that.
Tumblr media
The bizarre dialogue really took me out of the story and it was extremely difficult to take anything seriously, especially when the Royal Knights use lingo that doesn't feel like it fits them at all.
I completey checked out by the time I got to chapter 7. Especially when the Royal Knights of all things got involved. Like...really? What's Crusadermon doing in a story about a detective agency? Why is there a discount KISS rockstar running around? What the hell happened to that interesting story about Kamishiro Enterprises potentially being the ones behind EDEN Syndrome? That could've been cool!
But no, it's just...Eaters. I mean, the designs of the Eaters are cool, but it was really weird seeing these things as the final boss of the game.
The battle system is fun, though. As is filling out the Digimon Field Guide. In fact, I had more fun just dicking around with digivolution than I did engaging with the story.

[…Call Accepted.]
“Whoever this is.” The cyber sleuth began, her inflection arctic after being awoken from her very rare moments of non-forced sleep. “I don’t know how or why you have my number… But, unless someone is dying I will make you reg—“
“P-Pen?” Blades’ more timid than usual sounding stammered over the call/comm.
She cursed her own luck and the misfortune of putting in the effort to have very intimidating ‘I can kill you’ voice. “Sorry, Blades.” Pen expressed as apologetically as she could given her mood was still a bit sour. “How can I help?”
“You—uh—did you happen to, I don’t know… Raise one of your digimon from an egg?” He asked sounding unsure of himself.
Though it was unseen to the cybertronian, she raised an eyebrow at the sudden non-plas involving digimon. “Yes? I raised Knell from a Digi-Egg. Did you happen to find one or…?” Pen let her question peter off hoping to give him a chance to resteady himself. This sounded different than Blades’ usual anxiety or curiosity.
“More like one found me. Pretty much!” He confirmed, before shifting over on his end of the communication. “It hatched into a Pururumon if that means anything to you—Ransom thinks it was once Hippogriffomon?”
“I’m more familiar with Kuramon, Pabumon, and Pururomon to be perfectly honest.” The cyber sleuth admitted, pulling up the field guide to look up the baby digimon. “…Yeah. The species definitely can become Hippogriffomon in a few branches.” Pen clarified though she had a feeling he wanted to know more. “Given it hatched around you, I imagine it’s yours. Do you want advice or is this just a casual call?”
“Yes, please!” The cybertronian begged, unsureness in his next few words. “I have no idea what I’m doing… One moment we were just coming back from a full team rescue and the next I have a baby digimon in my cabin. I don’t even know the first thing about taking care of a baby human or newspark, let alone a digimon! And it can’t tell me what it needs. I constantly have to keep an eye on it and feel kinda bad calling it by its species name—“
“Blades! Slow down.”
“…Sorry.”
The cyber sleuth took a deep breath in and released it as Blades’ babbling had woken up her digimon. She waved off their concern before lounging back in her bedroom’s bed on the Digi Farm. “Okay. In list of priorities—baby digimon are easy to care for. Most of them drink room temperature milk and can eat soft things like mashed up fruit. Pay attention to if Pururumon won’t eat certain things, Digimon have liked and dislikes like everyone else.”
She heard the sound of something being written.
“Got it! What about other things?”
“Don’t baby talk to the digimon.” She warned, trying not to startle him. “You may think that helps like with other babies. it really doesn’t. Baby digimon are very aware of what’s said to them and what goes in around them. They may not understand yet… But, they learn fast.” Pen elaborated remembering how a few other Sleuths had ended up with digimon who had lisps and talked like toddlers because of that. “You can simply things to explain. Don’t resort to baby talk. You got that?”
“Yup. Have to ask Cody what ‘baby talk’ is later.”
“Other than that? Their care is pretty much what you would expect for a baby. Play time, time outside supervised, cleaning up after them—unfortunately Digimon do relieve themselves like most organics so…” She smothered a laugh at the disgusted sound that Blades made. “As long as you treat them right, you will have a very healthy digimon growing.”
“…What if you treat them wrong, by accident?”
“You will most likely end with a Numemon. Otherwise, I very much doubt you will reach the point of terrible care. You do have your entire team, family, and even Ransom there to help you.” Pen assured knowing the worry of whether someone was doing everything right or not. She worried a lot when Knell didn’t talk at first, in conjunction with them taking so long to digivolve past their first stage. It was stressful.
“Thanks, Penumbra.”
“You’re welcome, Blades. Now if you’ll excuse me—I have some sleep to catch up on.”
[Call has been ended by User Penumbra.]
I don't blame Pen for being untrustworthy when it comes to unknown calls. At least it was from Blades who seriously needed advice. This is overall pretty sweet.

I have finished Digimon Hacker's Memory now as well. Full thoughts below, but the short is I liked this one better than Cyber Sleuth.
I won't spend much time on mechanics because nothing's changed. I still feel like the game is largely too heavy on back and forth fetch-quest style events, and its intended path is not always clear. This game is at least a lot better about notifying you when it's open-ended who to talk to about it, but I don't love the constant running around over nothing. There's a specific Mirei quest where she has you gather various random ingredients around the real world and I thought I was going to lose my shit. This is compounded by a lot of optional quests that are...frustrating and pointless? I think my biggest issue really is the pacing of it. The gameplay can be fun, but exploration segments are short and broken up by a ton of scenes as each side-quest ends, and so many wind up being relatively unimportant. Even main quests can sometimes overstay their welcome, sharing way too much background information that isn't necessary. I think the game could've been parsed down on its overall dialogue, expanded for direct gameplay through the major sections, and come out better for it. And no, the Domination Battles addition is not expanding the gameplay. That grid system is wholly pointless, there's never an instance where you don't want to use maximum range and just attack things to claim their spots, it's overcomplicating a simple affair.
I'm mostly complaining, but I did say I liked this game better. Part of that is my own fault. I spent a lot of time in Cyber Sleuth filling out the field guide, and yes, I did 100% the Digimon roster across these two games. I was also able to optimize more efficiently, having a better understanding of the systems and what's good to use, and was able to run Lillymon and Lilamon this time to great effect. Lilamon in particular has earned my respect for a huge bulk of the game. Turns out poison does work sometimes, and the times it does work are divine. That said, the process of acquiring more optimized skills is...frustrating, to put it mildly. It still takes way too long to get the back and forth effects of building ABI and getting to needed levels for evolution and getting to needed levels for skills. Even with significantly simplified chains, it still took me like 8 hours to get my full team in order.
That is, however, a me problem. My wife does not do any of this and beat these games just fine, getting stuck only once. It's the Hosaka fight at the end of Chapter 9, which is an absurd fight. She got stuck badly enough I had to show her the Tactician USB trick on the farm, and after some level grinding and upgrading to Hououmon, she was able to clear it without too much fuss. So I am definitely overshooting the mark on what's sane. In fact, to really emphasize that point: I went out of my way to get Acceleration Boost on Lillithmon, and all it did was result in one-shotting the final boss in each of its forms. It is. Wildly more than necessary.
I do think Hacker's Memory is a harder game, though. It seems to use a lot more status effects, has generally bulkier enemies that like to buff their whole team's stats, and most damning of all, cast Aura. This game loves giving you fights where one of the components is a healer for the enemy team, and will heal for something like all the damage you dealt. Honestly, this was the problem with the Hosaka fight for my wife. She didn't get stuck on anything like his damage output or getting blasted by buffs. She got stuck because she couldn't out-DPS the healing of his LadyDevimon, who was spamming that shit like every turn. It's a frustrating way to go about things, especially knowing that you, the player, could not do the same. It's just the occasional moment where you can get completely progress blocked because you're not high level enough to seriously bypass the amount of healing being thrown around. Also I did actually try to work with elevated speed, and outside of UlforceVeedramon, who one time took two actions in a row, nothing ever seriously doubled up, and bosses still too multiple turns in our rotation.
But the bigger reason I liked this game better is, remarkably, story and character related.
At the outset, watching my wife play...I geared up to not like this one. They removed the ability to play as a female protagonist, and your main crew is three guys with one girl, and the one girl is sick and dying. Which is. Not an appealing setup. But credit where it's due, the game does a lot of good stuff with the dynamic. My wife could probably talk at length about themes of masculinity and what it means to be a man, but I am of course focused on Erika.
Erika, our sick and dying girl, is actually pretty great. She's snappy and violent and exceptionally talented, and functions as the heart of the group. Not as strictly an emotional center, she's as constipated as the others in that regard, but as a central focus. Ryuji, her brother, acts entirely to her whims, because he is fixated on being a good brother and trying to avoid losing her too after the death of their parents and the dissolution of his previous hacker team. Chitose is Ryuji's brofriend, and acts as levity within the group. Your protagonist is there. I mean he helps I guess, but it's whatever, I do not think he's fleshed out enough to be important, but there are bits I think are more interesting given the mandated male thing.
Things like Yu. The protagonist's best friend, Yu, has an interesting little arc. He's constantly trying to inject himself into events, and to get Keisuke (protagonist boy) to attend to him or rely on him, but it fails basically every time and you continue to press on with the Hudie group. This culminates in the realization that Yu is the one who stole your account, kicking off the events that led to you joining the current hacker group. Yu wanted to get you to rely on him, so he manufactured a problem he'd help you solve, but when Keisuke continues to rely more on Hudie, Yu's goals shift into becoming Keisuke as he wants him to be, and in his own words, ensuring that they would always be together. Now because my wife also pinged it, I am comfortable saying that Yu's feelings on this matter are extremely romantic in nature, which is why the conclusion is so frustrating. See, the mask he wears takes on the persona of a Digimon that has been manipulating Yu for whatever reason, and keeps talking about how "I have become me" in a Persona-esque focus on personal identity. But when defeated, and when you try to comfort Yu, they give you the option to say "I love you." This is then followed up with a beat before "Just kidding." You No Homo'd that boy.
Anyway, I bring up Yu partially because I think it's an interesting segment that ends really stupid, I'm kinda pissed at the game over it. But I also bring it up because that sense of personal identity is also a big theme for Erika. As mentioned, she's sick. She was in a car accident, because it is always cars that kill, and her parents died. She apparently lost control of her brain or something, don't ask about specifics, but the treatment is uploading memories and some thought process to a server in Eden, to minimize the strain on her flesh brain. As a result, there's some push and pull of the "real you," and whether the flesh and blood person is real, or if the memories aggregated in cyberspace is more real. This is complete with other instances of characters commenting on the cyber world feeling more real, because they feel like they can be their true selves there. And it's here where things started to connect narratively for me, both for this game and for Cyber Sleuth.
There's a mission in Hacker's Memory where you are tasked with solving a theft case from an aquarium. Bear with me, I promise this all connects. The event itself involves someone stealing exhibits, but then they're returned with no changes and no harm done. The revelation is that there is a woman who adored this aquarium, had some of her best memories here, but the aquarium is about to undergo renovations, complete with a huge change in tone from a quiet place of observation to something more bombastic with live performances and such. She hates this. She hates that this place that meant so much is changing, and decided the solution was to preserve it within the digital world exactly as she remembers, so she can always see it as it should be. Ryuji still turns her in to the police for the theft, in part because she still did a crime even if its victimless and Ryuji (and the cast at large) are a little bit bootlicker, but he also kinda gets on this woman's case, arguing that memories aren't something to preserve outside of yourself, they're things you carry in your heart all your life. Which...raises some interesting questions about Ryuji's stance on pictures, but that's not important.
In Cyber Sleuth, your main group were all involved in a traumatic event as children, as Yuugo was the first victim of the Eaters. Everyone was traumatized and had trouble moving past, so Suedou, in an act of compassion, deletes those memories from you. He also does so for his partner in the research, who was devastated over what happened. A later event involves this partner starting to vaguely recall that something happened, and it eats at him until he can recall that Suedou removed those memories. He asks you to unlock them, to bring them back to his conscious awareness, and this is how you learn about the first victim of Eden Syndrome. As a resolution, the man comments that "Even if my mind forgets, the body remembers." It's an interesting presentation as part of that sense of your true self. Yes, your memories and the thoughts within you make up who you are. But some memories, those traumas, are imprinted deeper. The body recalls what the mind may not, and there are still involuntary mechanisms that make up "you."
The final resolution of this quest is that the man asks you to re-seal those memories. They were a burden, and without them, he's been able to improve his life significantly. You comply, but Yuuko asks you if you think what you did was truly the right thing, and your options are largely non-commital and unsure. The way the rest of the game resolves, however, implies it was not. Suedou's goals are to erase all sadness by remaking the world, Cyrus PokemonGen4 style but sincere this time, and in the specific seems to be about removing the sense of trauma. Nothing will make people sad, no one will have to recall anything sad, and they can live happy lives this way. Ultimately your conflict with him and decision to try and tear him out from the Eaters is a statement of facing that reality directly, with your connections with friends being what helps to overcome a shared grief.
In both games, reliance on others plays a big role. Arata's final takeaway is that all of this likely could've been fine if he'd trusted and relied on his friends from the outset. Ryuji falls into a nihilistic rage when Rie's true motives are revealed and tries to handle everything himself to the end. There's a constant pressure on the need to be a little selfish, and to ask others for what you need. This is the entire resolution of Erika's arc, getting her to own up to her true desires and what she really wants. She's initially portrayed as bratty and spoiled enough to refuse a basic apology until Ryuji buys her a new computer, but what she really wants to ask is something she feels she can't, because of how much he gives for her sake due to her illness. In particular, there are several moments where characters comment that Erika doesn't have any real childhood memories playing with others, or things you would expect, and the optimistic takeaway is that she can start building those now with you and the rest of Hudie. Building those memories form the basis of who you are, and who you become.
*sigh* Which is, again, why the final scene is so frustrating. The end of the game, Erika fuses with Wormmon to become a new entity, Hudiemon, and decides to follow her desire to go to the Digital World. Which is about to be sealed off from the human world. Meaning she will never see you or the others again. It's a sad, but fairly poignant scene. We've established that following your needs and desires is important, and there's an earlier bit where Erika talks about how she wants to go off somewhere new and see things but return to where she feels comfortable afterwards, but knows this comes from a place of internal inertia; and unwillingness to meet change. This final decision makes sense and follows everything about her, even as it's sad. It lands well.
But they sneak in an extra scene after the credits. In it, we learn that the world has stabilized after everything with the eaters, and you still work with Hudie, alongside Chitose and Ryuji. But also Yu is here. And also Ryuji's parents are alive. And also Ryuji is referred to as an only child, and no one remembers Erika at all. Except for you, protagonist-kun. You remember her and are very sad. Not her brother, though. He forgor.
This? Drives me insane. Ryuji goes off on the aquarium quest about how memories stick with you and that it's important to hold on to them internally above all else, and the game hammers in this point so viciously that the resolution of that quest? It turns out she planted fucking bombs under the exhibits and planned to blow that place to hell, with Ryuji catching it on a hunch, because anyone that obsessed with preserving their memory of something externally that way obviously just wanted it all to themselves. Which is an insane takeaway to have. Especially consider, at the resolution of this, he just fucking forgets his sister.
It reads similarly to Cyber Sleuth's ending. In spite of all the focus on working through trauma rather than pretending it didn't happen, and the recognition that there's some mark on you as a person even if the specifics aren't consciously recalled, the ending...resolves everything neatly. Everyone just kinda forgets and moves on and Yuuko's dad is alive and I guess Rie is in love with him so she's not evil now and it's all packaged perfectly and we can just forget any of that happened. This feels similar, but more sinister. Because it kinda implies that Ryuji's temper tantrum was right. He is happier without his sick sister. Just fucking forget her, bro, you're better off. Who wants to live a life filled with bittersweet memories of a loved one taken too soon? Just fucking forget them entirely and do whatever, it's great!
We're two for two on the resolution of these games feeling wildly discordant with their thematic purpose. And moreover, feeling slightly out of touch with their own ethics. I feel like the game doesn't handle that particular aspect well. There's another case, around chapter 8 or something, where you're given two options: preserve the Digimon Market, or destroy it. It's framed as "Digimon are mistreated" vs "Hackers rely on Digimon and this is a means of ensuring they have access to those tools." It's backed by a deeper debate over "Are Digimon living things, or just programs?" Which is a neat idea to play with, since not everyone would know or agree with. However:
This comes way too late. We are introduced to this market by getting our starter from it, while it's shaking terrified in a cage. We're given a quest to find an Airdramon that escaped, and can verbally tell you the cages are small and painful to be stuck in all the time (that quest resolves with it going back to slavery because it's about to be sold and won't be in the cage much longer, by the way). Erika has Wormmon who talks about the world they all came from, your protagonist has now at multiple points taken the ethical stance on treating Digimon with care, and I'm pretty sure we had met Nokia by then. So this ethical dilemma is easily solved. You destroy the market. I'm sorry, but "some hackers rely on it" is not a justification for slavery.
But at the end, Erika will wax philosophical about how neither side was truly right, because Digimon are just programs. And it's like...girl, you have Wormmon. How are you still on this? It's wildly disconnected from the reality we've experienced to this point, and wants to try so hard to make an interesting dilemma at a point it cannot possibly work.
I think these games have good ideas, and on a dramatic level, most of the major scenes work. I think it's a bit bloated with unnecessary cases and padding (seriously, what is the point of the Mr Navit quests?), but on the whole, the games miss some marks. Particularly endings. Which is always a bit of a rough one to miss.

Alrighty, let’s catch up on GG, episodes 61-65, let's gooo
I'm super behind on GG, mainly because I have been actually rewatching it from the begining for the episode guide, and it's taken me this long to catch up- thank goodness for the hiatus for letting me catch up in peace though
Anyway, 61 - Resurrection!
Well this episode is off to grim start
TSUMEMON?? WE'RE GETTING TSUMEMON THIS EPISODE??
HEY WHAT WAS THAT SHADOW ON THE ROOF
Man the vibes this episode are immaculate, the atmosphere is so good
OH EVILMON IN THE WINDOWS?? WE GETTNG A PLETHORA OF DIGIMON THIS WEEK?? (Wait is this the Milleniummon episode??)
OH THIS IS THE MILLE EPISODE, IT'S MILLE TIME BOYS
Sorry I didn't have much to say, good episode, maybe a little anticlimactic but also this is definitely more about the thematics than spectacle and that's wonderful
62 - The Strange Floor
So we have an absolute plethora of stuff happning here, eh
Tumblr media
OH YOU'RE ONE OF THE NEW-ISH BABIES!! I CAN'T REMEMBER YOUR NAME BUT YOU'RE CUTE!!
Oh we got others too- Otamamon, Kunemon, other folks! :oc
Tumblr media
BABY BASTARD SPOTTED
Tumblr media
OH THE HEEBIE JEEBIES
Tumblr media
owo Who's this handsome mon
Oh Espimon is in the Cyber Sleuth data space too lmao
OH THAT KEY, THAT FUCKING KEY, IT'S CLAVIS ANGEMON'S KEY
ARE WE GETTING CLAVIS ANGEMON THIS EPISODE?? I MEAN I SAW TWITTER SPOILERS BUT I FORGOT HALF THE DIGIMON THAT'RE SHOWING UP
Tumblr media
YESSSSS IT'S CLAVIS YESSSSSSSSSSS
Is it bad if I get excited about certain Digimon showing out of no other reason than OCs? It's true rn lmao
And Espimon evolved! Congrats, you have found Hiro!
(Or has he? What if Hiro isn't Hiro? IDK the Fake Hiro thing was starting to make me wonder lmao)
Alright, they finally beat some sense into him
And Aoi actually gets to know that Digimon do infact exist- how fun
Nice episode! V fun
63 - Gluttony
Dude is hungy and his arm is stretchy... Clearly, someone needs to get this man some meat
"One was strangely crunchy" HHHHHHHH DON'T LIKE THAT
(God this episode almost has some "the diroctor's barely disguised fetish" energy hhhhhhhhh)
Okay for real though Hiro and co should've noticed something Is Very Very Wrong with Ruri long before they even left the buffet, it is not humanly possible for a human, let alone a skinny child, to eat this much, guys, please, rub your braincells together
RURI NO DON'T VORE GAMMAMON NOOOOOOOO
Perhaps, instead of trying to feed her more, take her to fucking Mummymon, for the love of god
FINALLY, TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH
oh OH OH OHOH IT'S QUARTZMON, I FUCKING FORGOT, IT'S FUCKING QUARTZMON, HOLY SHIT HUNTERS RIGHS
Tumblr media
BABIES?????????????????
Well I already did the vore joke, might as well go for the mpreg joke while I'm at it too--- congrats to Quartzmon, you're a father
Actually I really like this twist though, that Quartzmon, despite being a horrific looking Digimon who you could hardly imagine being ever presented in a positive light, turns out to be a decent person, just wanting to take care of some babies. That's great, that's a great twist
There really are just... more and more Digimon, everywhere. This is definitely leading to everyone getting separated by the finale again, isn't it
Yeah this was a good episode!
64 - Call
It's Dagomon time baybeeeee
Tumblr media
Oh the visual reference to the Dark Ocean episode is really cute
Also holy shit Dagomon is A Big Boyo
Tumblr media

Wait is that the same guy on the ship as the guy from the bird episode from early on (oh god damn don't tell me I need to label that episode as Plot Relevant in the filler guy because that guy comes back...)
OH THE FIELD DIDN'T COME UP RIGHT, IT'S JUST A PROTECTIVE BUBBLE, OH GOD DAGOMON IS STRONK
Tumblr media
Oh that's fucking creepy
Tumblr media
Oh that shot gets an absolute 10/10, that's so fucking good
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh this is so fucking cool
Oh he turned into a mass of tentacles, that's great
He's... contained... wha

There's no opening narration
Tumblr media
I'm not ready for this man
So is that gonna be the lore explanation to Black Variants... (I can't remember if there was a lore bit like this or not, maybe there was actually, not that I care that much)
Oh Hiro is just chillin' with MoonMille, that's great
"I can't live in an analog world without anime or games" Kiyo, bitch, you don't need the Internet for either, go watch some anime on VHS and play some FFIX on a PS1 you COWARD!! Kids these days, smh
KUZUHAMON??? SHE'S JUST THERE??? A GIANT WOMAN???
Lmao Hokuto got cut off and couldn't go with the others
Hokuto, what the fuck are you planning on doing to Nomura and the others. I do not trust this irresponsible man whatsoever
Ah, the forest... all black+magenta... Just like a certain edgyboi...
Man, shit is happening so fast I can't even make out which Digimon are fighting-- Kuwagaamon and Tuskmon?? Fuck I can't tell
(Ah it's a Brakimon)
I think this is a Rafflesimon episode and oh wowie the bodyhorror is fun ahahahahhhahhhaaa
Tumblr media
Look I was happy to get to see Rafflesimon in GENERAL, but this black version??? Oh she looks so cool???????
Ah, so the black peeling on Gammamon's back... I didn't comment on it but I was assuming that somehow Gammamon's time was "running out" and he was going to become Gulus again, like his inner Gulus was gonna get released-- but Gulus is a separate entity from Gammamon? Or a second personality? Sealed away? That's interesting
Anyway Gulus wants to come out to play, eh
RIP, Rafflesimon
And Saberdramon is back, nice
Oh there's an island in the cloud..?? Big Laputa Energy (but like, more dead)
OH IT'S- IT'S WHATSHISFACE, FUCKING FLOWER KNIGHT GUY
AND HE'S VOICED BY SHANKS??????
YOU CAN'T END THE EPISODE THERE
AAAAAAAAAAAA
You guys. I am not ready for Ghost Game to end. I'm not ready for the last two episodes. We're gonna get fucking WRECKED
Do I even wanna watch the episode preview... It's just gonna be torture since the next episode airs on March 19th, like two more weeks.
Oh let's just fucking watch it man, god knows GG has been good at keeping it secrets so far, they're not gonna spoil shit at this point
Tumblr media
Oh she's so pretty ;w;
Episode preview
Yeah we get a fun fight against flower knight boy and then Gulus goes berserk based on the episode title
Oh boy
Rewatching GG has made me appreciate it so much more (the Episode Guide is almost done*, I just need to edit it because it's a bit messy), and knowing there won't be another Digimon anime for a good while again (aside from the Zero Two movie but I'm not watching it)... It's bitter sweet. We finally get plot, but at the cost of the series ending. It's been a fun, unique ride though, and I'm grateful for it
*I mean it won't be 100% completed until the final episode airs but I'll post it early so if anybody wants to rewatch some highlights, it'll be easier for them to find the right episodes

OmegaShoutmon: *achieved Level V in at most a few weeks thanks to Taiki and Omegamon* This is so cool!
Tactimon: *took centuries to attain his current, Level VI form* Am I a fucking joke to you?!
Inspired by a conversation on WiththeWill as while Xros Wars didn’t use Levels to represent growth/age, the Field Guide/Reference Book update that gave XW Digimon species Levels resulted in the scene where Tactimon reacts to OmegaShoutmon having some rather interesting implications regarding the growth rate of wild Digimon vs partner Digimon.

Digimon 101
A while back I wrote a post explaining the basics of the Legend of Zelda, so I thought why not do one on Digimon since it's not widely popular but is sure a staple of my blog!
Let's start by clearing some air - Pokemon vs Digimon : For some reason a lot of people seem to think that it has to be one or the other, but in my experience most people who like Digimon also really enjoy Pokemon - as I explain Digimon I will at times compare it to Pokemon to show off some of the differences of the two. Both franchises are actually very distinct in their mechanics and I enjoy both of them for different reasons :)
Okay, that said, let's start getting into the basics of Digimon under the cut!
I lied, one more boring tid bit as I talk about the canons/seasons. Almost every season of Digimon is a standalone series with it's own take on the mechanics of the digital world. For the sake of keeping this (relatively) concise and to the point I will be speaking about Digimon in broad strokes that can apply to most of the canons as I understand them. This guide is largely to help with understanding my au's and such on my blog, so if there's something I tend to use often from a specific canon I will make note of that.
The Digital World - unlike Pokemon, the human characters in the digimon series come from 'our' world. Digimon are NOT integrated into society like in Pokemon, instead Digimon is more of an isekai story, or a story where the main characters fall from the real world into a fantasy one. The Digital world is one that was either created or discovered by humans through the creation of technology and the internet and such. In many iterations to the internet itself is a place between the digital world and earth.
The Digital World often is like a bent version of the real world. The explanation varies from canon to canon but relatively speaking much of the make up of the digital world is like a half remembered real world with things like an entire field full of non functioning vending machines or a line of telephone booths on a beach. Much of the digital world is like a dream.
In some telling you can spend a year in the digital world while only an hour has passed in the real world, and in some the time between the two is the same. It really depends on what you prefer. Likewise, sometimes Digimon can and sometimes they can't be in the human world, or can only be in the human world for a little while.
Digimon : While Pokemon are animals, Digimon are fully autonomous beings. They are the 'people' of their world. A simple example for this is simply speech - while (most) Pokemon don't actually speak, all Digimon speak complete sentences all of the time. When people go to the digital world they find entire villages of Digimon and cities and such.
Digimon can evolve like Pokemon, however it'd called digivolution and works differently. While a Pokemon can only go up on the evolution ladder, Digmon can go up AND down. The higher on the ladder they are, the more work it is to maintain that form and the farther down on the ladder they fall when they release the form. For instance - during a big battle a Digimon may become an Ultimate level, but then after the battle they will transform into their in training form.
The ladder of digimon forms:
Mega
Ultimate
Champion
Rookie
In Training
Baby
Tbh I have a really hard time keeping them all straight and I think in some instances specific Digimon can go above Mega? They also don't always evolve along the same routes, things such as emotion, specific items, or just circumstances can make Digimon take different forms as they evolve which lets you play around a lot with them in concept, such as...
Dark Digivolution - A noteworthy digivolution as it's produced under very negative circumstances (different than just Digimon who are virus' by nature which I'll talk about in a bit). For instance if a Digimon isn't capable of digivolving but their partner is pushing or forcing them to they may dark digivolve and become an uncontrollable monster often without much of a consciousness, just pure anger.
I will briefly talk about the 'types' of Digimon, but I won't go super into it cuz it's kind of deep lore and not super relevant to what I do. A Digimon is data, and data has certain properties. They can be either just data, vaccine, virus, free, or variable. Mostly I just know that evil looking digimon are usually Virus' and angelic or 'good' looking digimon are usually vaccine. This sometimes factors into their default nature, but I find that concept boring so I ignore it lol. It mostly explains why some Digimon end up looking like a literal devil.
Special Digimon: In the digital world there are certain important Digimon. The one's I know the most about are the Core three (used as a major plot point in Frontier) which are Cherubimon, Seraphimon, and Ophanimon. They're all angelic like Digimon who try to keep the peace and usually I use them to represent a Digimon that is very powerful, or someone who tries to use this fact for clout. There's also the Knights (specific digimon who are part of a squad or whatever) I don't know much about them so I won't go into them but they're there too and I believe serve a similar purpose although more morally grey and with more in fighting.
But East, what about the humans????
glad you asked.
So in the digital world it is very hard to digivolve on your own - it takes a lot of work and time. Unless you have.... a partner!
Partners/Tamers/Digidestined - called many names these are the people that are bonded to a specific digimon. They often have what's called a digivice to help connect with their digimon and depending on the strength of the bond between the partner and the digimon the digimon can attain greater and higher evolutions. This is the aspect that is the most interesting as Digimon and their partners can either be alive or very different and how they deal with one another as well as the world and situations around them determine how they need to grow. Not just the partner either! In the best telling of Digimon the digimon themselves also have narrative arcs they have to go through. A digimon au is in many ways like a Daemon au - a version of yourself refracted through glass.
Okay we're almost done, I will end with talking about crests
Crests are only in the first and second iteration of the series. Each Digidestined have a specific crest, which is an attribute that is where their power comes from and has the most potential within them. Sometimes it's something a character always has, but often times it's something that they need to work on, and their relationship with their crest, while seemingly easy as first, is often much more complex than it may seem and they may have to re-analyze their relationship with the attribute in order to grow. For instance - a character with reliability may need to learn that sometimes they have to let certain people down to prioritize circumstances, in a way being unreliable to someone. The opposite of the crests is also considered their weakness and something they must resist - such as someone who's crest is friendship purposefully pushing away their friends.
Losing touch with their crests can prevent digivolutions or cause dark digivolutions.
(There's also armor which can create special digivolutions, the ability to merge digimon, the ability for the partner and digimon to fuse into an evolution - there are a lot of possibilities in the digimon series! That's why it's so fun to play with!)
Sorry this is so long! If you got this far thanks of reading and let me know if you have any questions!!!

Suraimon Digivolution Line
Tumblr media
My first art commission! It's finally finished! This was commissioned by Digi-Knight on Deviantart! They wanted me to make a completely original Digimon line, but with some rules: No mecha/robots, and it must be medieval themed. I figured there were too many dragons and knights as is, so I went a different route and chose unicorns and wizards instead!
The colors in Suraimon's body and the hair on Pastelmon, HeavenUnimon, and UniWizardmon were all done with the spraypaint tool to give it that "celestial" or "rainbow" vibe. CosmoWizardmon's cosmic cape interior is an image I found on google search ;^^
Tumblr media
Suraimon
Level: Fresh
These small Digimon are usually harmless and stay away from any other Digimon, but will become vicious when the situation calls. Though, they're usually seen as a slight nuisance rather than something capable of damage.
Tumblr media
Fillymon
Level: Baby
A small digimon that minds its own business, prances around, and eats sweets. Fillymon are usually timid and stay away from anything bigger than them. They usually gather around when a rainbow is near.
Tumblr media
Pastelmon
Level: Rookie
When a Fillymon absorbs data from colorful art, it becomes a curious and innocent unicorn-like Digimon that roams flowery fields looking for friends. It's not much interested in fighting others, and would rather join parties or special events. Pastelmon has an extreme sweet tooth, and will eat anything that's sweet.
Tumblr media
HeavenUnimon
Level: Champion
Like its namesake, HeavenUnimon fly through the sky and live on heavenly clouds. Their role is similiar to that of a guardian angel, where they look on top of the clouds, and scout for any trouble while protecting the innocent. If a HeavenUnimon sees something as a threat, this digimon will viciously attack it, along with the aid of other HeavenUnimon.
Tumblr media
UniWizardmon
Level: Ultimate
A HeavenUnimon who is beginning to learn the magical arts, UniWizardmon protects its brethren by attacking first and asking questions later. Since it's magic is rusty, UniWizardmon sends out its Suraimon familiar out to attack, much similarly to a gaurd dog. If it's Suraimon gets injured or hurt, UniWizardmon will become enraged to the point of unleashing a destructive power
Tumblr media
CosmoWizardmon
Level: Mega
A powerful and wise digital wizard that has existed in the digital world since its "medieval era". It guides and aids lost digimon or children. CosmoWizardmon stores anything within the interior of its cosmic cape, storing a whole galaxy inside. It totes around a treat bag to feed for its Suraimon familiar, perched on top of CosmoWizardmon's mighty staff.
It is said that this Digimon's attacks are so powerful, that it can kill gods. Thankfully, CosmoWizardmon does not use its destructive powers unless the situation is dire.

[ Memory Prompts ] - Closed
(( This memory is EXTREMELY long. ))
The flow and ebb of the unending dark and negative energy pulsed and hummed idly in the air, a reminder of that hellish space they called home. The soft click of open heels on obsidian tiles echoed through the dead space, occasionally broken by the sidesteps of lesser devils and dregs of the Dark Area. The hold that cradled and supported the Rookie was gentle and tender, and the smell was reminiscent of floral perfumes and candles. Attached to the beautiful, albeit veiled visage of the woman carrying her, it was comforting as she escorted her like an infant down the halls and through the grand double doors into the meeting chambers.
In the room's center along the outer edges of a lengthy table with a map overlaid, stoic and imposing figures all discussed tactics and plans for battle with a particular Lord at the head of it all, bearing a soft, yet commanding tone that immediately silenced and demanded respect of those in attendance.
"That will not be necessary, Guardian of Greed. Merely continue as necessary in the West until the situation changes. At this crucial stage of the effort, I will not have it all fall apart because someone moves out of line, that includes you, and that Prideful child."
A wizened old man with a golden mask bowed his head, albeit with a scoff, followed by a low, defiant growl of a figure in dark leathers, three crimson eyes staring to the apparent head of this meeting as clawed fingers tapped the table's edge.
"All this meandering and aimless skirmishing feels pointless, Olson. And you know how much I don't care for unfair slaughter of weaklings. How much longer does this need to continue before we can get to the point of all this?"
The Lord of Wrath glanced out from behind his dark helm and sighed, arms behind his back. "Be patient, warrior. You'll have your point. But for us to reach it, a grand cataclysm of sorts must needs be brought about. Thus, we--..."
His words stopped suddenly at the slight clearing of the woman's throat who'd stood patiently near the entryway, the bat Rookie in her arms half-awake following a deal of activity. The room went silent, all eyes falling upon the Lady. Olson locked gazes with his mistress for a lengthy period before waving a dismissive hand to all in attendance. "...You have your orders. Follow them for now. It will all pay off in due time. Go."
With little in the way of complaints, one-by-one, the various Lords departed in puffs of black mist, leaving the three alone in the empty chamber. Silence again filled the air before the woman, without much thought paced around the table with a huff. "You seemed almost too eager to call an end to that meeting...~"
There was another moment of nothing from the imposing, crimson-armored male, then a quiet hum, his heavy footfalls carrying him to the other end of the room to the balcony overlooking his territory beyond the fortress. To see over the fields violet crystal spires that dotted the landscape, or the glass-like sphere that rounded the domain as a whole, the woman falling in a bit behind him with the child in-tow.
"...I'm prepared to bear the burdens of the childish whims and impulses of the other of the Seven and whatever else may come to see our dreams be realized. But this war organizing and politics grows...tiring..." With an amused, sultry chuckle, the womon ran gold-tipped claws over his bicep, presenting the DemiVyremon to him.
"Speaking of, don't you think you spending some time with your actual child is overdue? She's had a long day, I'm sure she'd like to have her father spend at least the last few hours of it with her before bed..."
His obscured gaze peered down at the Rookie, and their large, crimson eyes peeked up at him in turn with a sleepy blink, their little claws rubbing at their tired eyes with a soft yawn. Hesitantly, a large, clawed gauntlet extended a finger to weakly scritch along their fuzzy cheek.
"...Surely your...softer nature and touch is better suited, no? Despite the airs I put on here...all I know how to do is break and damage what I touch. Besides, I've...no time. If left totally unattended, then the others..." He mumbled out, finger ceasing motion as the Rookie's wings lifted in a stretch, then folded their membrane arms around his massive hand, not even coming close to covering it. With a series of chittering squeaks, DemiVyremon's cheek pressed into his palm warmly in a slow rub, and the Demon Lord halted all words to stare. The woman's lips decorated in black lipstick curled into a pleased, soft smile.
"Well, seems she's made up her mind..." Her free hand reached to cup the side of his head, hidden as it was beneath the layer of Digizoid Chrome. The look she gave behind that silver-trimmed black veil was sympathetic and sweet, something uncharacteristic of one bearing her titles. "This war's gone on for decades. You can miss a few hours of it. You should take every moment with her you are able while she's still young."
Olson shook his head slowly, already trying to protest. "But then, who will--"
Once more she halted him with a soft series of shushing sounds, lowering her fingers to his other arm, guiding it to take the bat Digimon from her. "Shhhh-shh-shhhhhh. I can contend with the naughty children and old fools. Spend time with your daughter. She needs you more~." Sliding her claws from him and ensuring the task of holding the Rookie was securely transferred over, she stepped back and pressed back into the marble railing of the balcony, then dispersing in a cloud of bats that flittered and flew into the endless night, leaving them alone.
Silence overtook them once more as now there were two. He found himself staring out into the distance where his partner vanished, only to hear the soft whine of the little one in his arms demand his attention with a gentle pout. "Daddy...helmet scary..."
"My helmet...I see..." He replied softly, letting that statement linger for a short while before at last, with a weary sigh, using his left hand to lift and remove the menacing visage of the crimson helm, resting it on the balcony rail. His softer, albeit dark, shadowed features took time to manifest and adjust to being exposed, piercing, ghostly white eyes without pupils staring down at her. What might be described as 'hair' was but wispy strands of black dust that formed a general, mid-length shape suggesting such. "Is this more suitable then?"
For as conventionally unnatural and unsettling as his features were, this seemed to calm the little one. Enough for her to nod and scramble up his body, climbing her way to settle on his shoulder. "Can you...read for me again...? We never finished our story last time..." This request was almost pleading in tone, emphasized with a few spritely bounces on his pauldron. With little more than a brief blink, he carried them through the room, leading them to the edge where with a snap of his fingers, dark velvet recliner manifested itself in a brief flash. He turned and settled his bulky frame into the cushioned seat, pulling her into his lap while in his off-hand a small, red tome appeared.
"...We left off at...?" He began, his child with an impatient tapping of her talons at his arms excitedly replying, "The princess was sitting in the field with the monster!"
"Ah, yes, how could I forget. Let's see..."
-----------
As his low, nearly-whisper level voice read the tale of a maiden discovering the heart that laid within what seemed to be an angry, lonely beast, minutes passed, and minutes became hours. By the time he'd finished, he'd only just noticed that she'd long since dozed off, curled into a ball against his stomach with the slow rise and fall of her tiny breaths between gentle squeaks. Sighing, he closed the book softly to set it aside, delicately dragging his finger along her cheek in a slow, idle caress.
"Sound asleep...like you don't have a care in the world at all. Right, little one?" His tone, albeit just as calm and soft as ever sounded...somber, even...guilty. He allowed his full palm to rub tenderly over her sleeping head, resulting in her unconscious form smiling softly, nuzzling into his armored form. Something in his dead, cold form...ached at that moment. Made him briefly tense and shudder. Something of a realization came...or rather, he was reminded.
"...That's right. That's why I must succeed. For a world where you will never have to worry...my little Vyre..."
