sat, dec 16 2023 ♡
yesterday was my final day of the first semester of ibdp year 1! it feels kind of crazy to think about the fact that i'm already a quarter of the way through with the diploma programme lol. I didn't have any finals, so it was a very anticlimactic last day, but I have a winter break assignment for english lang/lit, and im planning on doing some studying for psych and bio, as well as starting to write my psych ia introduction.
i got my score back for the sat today and did pretty good (1460), just not as good as I was hoping for. I definitely don't need to retake it, but sat prep is a mandatory class for my program (not the ib, something else) in my school so i will likely be taking it again in the spring anyway as a part of that. my ebrw was 790, but my math was fairly lower than I hoped it would be, so that's what i'll be focusing on bringing up over the next few months.
xo

October 4th
These past few weeks hae been really busy, and I have not had the time to post, but here is an update how school is going.
I've had my first few tests now, and so far they have gone well. We also had the G4 project last week in collaboration with another school. For those who don't know, it is a science subject project, so biology, physics, chemistry and this years theme wa climate. We were divided into groups and each group went to a company and then we made posters that had something to do with climate and what we were told at the company. It was very interesting, but it did take away two days of learning.
My main causes of stres are now math IA and my EE, because I have to turn in my EE final draft by 23rd of october and my math IA first draft by 20th october. I know I will manage, but it is still stressful. In mot subjects I am doing fine, but in physics I am having some problems understanding the material, I don't know why.
In other news my computer broke down so I have to use my mothers until I can buy myelf a new one. That is all for now, I will try to make more frequent posts in the future, but I don't promise anything.

Exploring the Core Components of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
TheIB Diploma Program (IBDP) is a globally recognized qualification designed for students aged 16 to 19. It offers a unique approach to education, emphasizing academic rigour, critical thinking, and holistic development. The program not only prepares students for university but also encourages them to grow as individuals and contribute meaningfully to their communities. One of the key strengths of the IB Diploma Program is its well-rounded structure, which includes both academic coursework and co-curricular elements.
Let’s take a closer look at the core components that make the IBDP a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.
1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK): Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a distinctive element of theIB Diploma Program. This course challenges students to explore fundamental questions about knowledge, such as "What is knowledge?" and "How do we know what we know?" TOK encourages students to think critically and reflect on knowledge acquired through academic disciplines or personal experiences. This course is designed to integrate with the other subjects of the IBDP, helping students make connections between different areas of study. By doing so, TOK builds intellectual curiosity and deepens students' understanding of the world around them.
2. Extended Essay (EE): The Extended Essay is an independent research project that allows students to explore a topic of their choice in-depth. It is a 4,000-word essay that requires students to develop strong research, writing, and analytical skills. The EE allows students to investigate a subject they are passionate about and gain valuable experience in academic research. Completing the Extended Essay also helps students prepare for university-level academic writing, as they must work independently, manage their time effectively, and present their findings in a structured manner.
3. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) is another vital component of the IB Diploma Program. The CAS requirement encourages students to engage in extracurricular activities that contribute to their personal development and the well-being of their communities. Students are required to complete a set number of hours in activities related to creativity (e.g., art, music, or performance), physical activity (e.g., sports, exercise), and community service (e.g., volunteering). Through CAS, students learn the importance of a balanced lifestyle, gain new skills, and develop a sense of responsibility toward society.
4. The Six Subject Groups: The academic foundation of the IB Diploma Program is built on six subject groups, which ensure a well-rounded education. These groups include:
Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature
Group 2: Language Acquisition
Group 3: Individuals and Societies
Group 4: Sciences
Group 5: Mathematics
Group 6: The Arts
Students must choose one subject from each of the first five groups, with the sixth group being an elective, often related to the arts or another subject of interest. Within these groups, students can choose courses at Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL), depending on their interests and strengths.
Conclusion
The IB Diploma Program is more than just a set of academic courses; it is a comprehensive educational framework that encourages intellectual growth, critical thinking, and personal development. So, By participating in the IBDP, students develop not only the academic skills needed for university but also the life skills required to become responsible, thoughtful, and engaged global citizens.
