there is some logic to this madness but lol. still mad abt it but doing my best to get something out of these medical bills. also looking at flights if i book it now ish they really aren’t super expensive (still enough to stress me out 😭) but i don’t want to/shouldn’t book the flight without first. a) graduating and b) confirming housing. because i need housing for a visa… anyways. they’ll be more expensive once i have to book the flight…
#also i’m dependent on my grad school getting back to me quickly once i submit my diploma to them#because i’m on conditional acceptance until i submit my diploma#then i’m officially enrolled. they were very cooperative on that. because i needed the acceptance for scholarship reasons (which i failed at#obtaining but hey i’m still accepted to grad school anyways….? fun?)#but yeah 👍 dreading the formal visa application process

Me: Well, first you gotta give your diploma back and rewrite all those papers.
#no but for real like#writing papers is part of the learning process#learning how to articulate your thoughts into a compelling argument#how to take information and communicate it to someone else in different ways#you're supposed to go to college to LEARN#the diploma the degree it's supposed to mean that you LEARNED#but you literally chose not to learn#and yes the things you learn writing academic papers are also necessary skills for writing fiction

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I'm really really curious for an answer. I saw an excellent post from a woman on here talking about her discomfort with male OBGYNs, and how she's going into practicing gynecology to be another woman in the field. It made me so inspired to think that I could potentially do work that could benefit women's rights and health... though I'm not med school material. So what other jobs/careers would let me help women tangibly? Other than I guess nonprofit jobs, which was my field previously* and could be an option but I have my reservations.
Tl;dr - what jobs or lines of work are ones that exist to better the lives, health, rights, etc. of women?
#*my situation = worked in youth nonprofit (& various random min wage things) until i became physically disabled#i'm now in the process of trying to get benefits but i *want* one day to be able to work again... and now with DOGE who knows if i will even#have an option#my city recently implemented a program that pays for adults to attend community college if they have only a ged or hs diploma#if i could work in a job like this; i could even potentially get an associates degree toward one if i needed#i feel so hopeful rn.#also probably worth mentioning that there's a very prominent worldwide women's org that i've worked with and have both myself and ppl i#worked with AND ppl i met outside of work who worked there#experience some evil shit not just to employees but within programs that impacted women. so the **** is out. if anyone is even reading this

I understand the sentiment behind a post I saw recently about having a tidy and cleansed space before invoking a deity, I genuinely do, but also it triggered something deep within and now trying to tidy up feels more like a threat on my life than it already did and I am deeply afraid of trying to clean up because it won't ever be enough and I should be deeply ashamed of myself for clutter existing in my lived in space.
#screaming into the void#shout out to my dad for threatening to throw me out of the house because i wasnt cleaning to his standards#scolding me for trying to get rid of things (because i 'made a bigger mess' in the process) after telling me to get rid of things#shaming me for how i cleaned and telling me i should know better when he never once taught me how to clean#whose idea of clean seemed to be 'nothing should be visible ever and even if it brings you joy'#because having things visible that brought joy was cluttered and childish#clean could only mean empty surfaces and minimally deocrated shelves with almost nothing on the walls#who had the audacity after all that to be shocked and confused at why i didnt want my hs diploma on the wall#really appreciate feeling like im being hunted for sport whenever i try tidying up or doing my laundry

My sister is doing so well at the spa where she works as an LMT at 😭…
#she gets like over $100 in tips every time she works too I’m so happy#especially since she’d been struggling for a while because of her license taking forever to process and the other places that she’d been#working at had not been as reliable#she’d already passed her test back in like November or so and it shouldn’t have taken this long for her license to process they kept on#giving#her the run around#she was supposed to have gotten it by march bro#she’s just now getting it#the place that she’s at now had already hired her back then so it’s nice that she didn’t have to reapply because of so many months passing#by#maybe I should become an lmt they make bank 😭#I told her that I didn’t want to be a copy cat tho lol#maybe in the future#I still want to get my esthetician license first#and then get certified in both laser hair and tattoo removal since that is where the money is at#rambling#I’m so happy that trades are a thing because you really don’t need to go to college to become successful or make a decent living you could#just pick up a couple of trades or so#take the courses that’ll usually last from between 6-12 months and wala#it’s mostly ideal for to at least get your HS diploma though (PLEASE) or else you’ll be pretty much stuck in a rut unless you get lucky some#how#it’ll just cause you a lot of problems down the line tbh#and the GED process is also a hassle especially as you grow older since you tend to forget lots of things#now she can finally pay me back some money that she owes me because my ass is broke rn and I need a job lol#all of my funds (had quite a bit saved) are almost gone so I can’t really afford to sit around anymore since I have a phone bill to pay#and I want to get back to paying the rent and helping with groceries again/ my moms life insurance#my phone bill went down to like $133 tho so oh??? it was $146… smh

My brain when I read two books and wants to quit my job: what if you could go back to university, it was fun right? 🤗

#this is Satan himself talking to me#i don't even understand why I sometimes have these thoughts crossing my mind#university was hell#had no money#major depression and anxiety#barely survived the whole process and got my diploma#the licence diploma that I've never ever retrieved#and same for the book publishing diploma#because I was hit by the hard fact that i decided to take the less job giving direction#nobody give a fuck about literature and humanities#and for the publishing sector#it's very much closed#and i was hit by the fact that i would never get there#because there's a major money glass ceiling#like i could not just go move to Paris like the out of touch with reality teachers said#and have opportunities#so now I'm stuck with a shitty job#and even if i went back to uni what for???#like yes if I'd go to master level i would be able to specialise in what i like#which is sff#and i actually have many idea of thesis djdjdbsbsnz#but if nobody give a shit about literature in the job marketplace#let me tell you that french academia is the most snobbish elitist academia to ever exist when it comes to literature#like i can't even begin to explain#for most of them authors like Tolkien Dick Asimov or Herbert are like nothing#doesn't matter that they are literal fathers of whole genres#and idk there's now queer studies#and queer x science fiction is really an angle that could be very interesting to work on#but that doesn't change the fact that even if my fantasies i had a master or a doctorate#it would be useless because this doesn't give you a job and i don't want to be a teacher

#i dont dislike the application process for gc jobs on principle BUT#it does not mesh well w/ my difficulties re: starting & finishing tasks#but like i understand why u cant just send in a resume n hit done#NOT that there are many IT listings up atm...... and ill apply 4 clerical/admin stuff too#but an IT-1 STARTS a good $10k a year higher than a CR-5 soooooo :///#which is whatever its fine money isnt everything!! ill gladly make less if it means not hating my job!!!#but i also wanna. u know. LIVE. move out of my parents house. buy brand name snacks occasionally. maybe -gasp- go on a vacation#(not 2 say i dont make an attempt at travel now but thats with very finite savings that are def only going down not up)#also extremely frustrating 2 me the emphasis put on having a degree that completely locks me out of certain job categories#like. yes. there are for sure some where having the bg knowledge is important eg. an AU (auditor/accountant) or MA (methodologist)#and there are certain skills a degree (in theory) provides eg critical thinking research etc.#but not all of us have $40k+ to get tge fancy piece of paper saying we have those things. and u can have those skills w/o a degree#and smth like an EC which needs a degree in economics sociology or statistics is so arbitrary#and maybe not necessarily actually based in the majority of work done by the majority of positions in that category#ANYWAYS not me being bitter abt education standards YET AGAIN lol#idek if i could go to uni even if i could afford it. even tho i have 2 college diplomas id probably have 2 redo my grade 12 english 😶🌫️#also if money were no object id probably go for like. film studies or smth lol not sociology#tho. ngl. if i had the willpower and determination 4 smth so rigorous (i 100% dont) accounting does seem. interesting asdffhkkfdghh#ANYWAYS pt. 2 all this 2 say this is why i instead spent $10k+ on the only possible 2 yr diploma#that can still get u in2 the higher paying public service jobs. even tho ive discovered i Dont Particularly Care for programming. :(#thats an understatement actually i was actively in hell for like 80% of that program and the remaining 20% mostly wasnt coding

this uni is fucking me around so bad im about to become the joker
#um.txt#i call and say hey my certificate is going to be coming late is this a problem and they say no its fine just send your diploma supplement#so i say ok. then they say well thats fine for a transcript but where's your certificate and i say. well it's delayed.#and they say ok can u get this letter from ur uni. and i say that's nearly impossible bc they dont do those but ok.#then i send the letter and they say no we dont accept those. where's your certificate.#and i say its delayed. you told me to send this. so they say ok. can you get your diploma supplement stamped and signed.#so i say ok. and i do that. then i upload it to the site. and three days of waiting for them to process it later they say thanks#for uploading your transcript! where is your certificate?#LIKE THE DEADLINE IS IN 2 WEEKS IM GOING TO KILL SOMEONE FOR REAL.#call them up. 11:30. hi our phones are closed now youre calling out of hours. they're open 10am - 12pm.#ive already possibly missed getting guaranteed accommodation because of this and if it keeps going i wont get in#AND i probably wont get my fucking deposit back.

#i've been doing active writing for like +7 hours a day for over a week now i think#the only 'day off' this week i had was friday bc a migraine prevented me from writing#and even then i squeezed a few hours of work before the migraine properly started lmao#i'm definitely enjoying the process#but jfc i don't think my brain has ever felt this tired#i still need to write for a couple hours today#and then tomorrow is still a full writing dat#*day#but i think i should be able to finally take tuesday and wednesday off#i'm so not gonna leave my bed on those days asjdkflfklf#posting#just a couple more weeks and then all that i have left of uni is graduating 👀#...not that we have any graduation ceremonies#i think they email us our diplomas lmao#but still
