Vatican's official website for Papal Magisterium gets new look

The Dicastery for Communication announced on Thursday, May 29, that the institutional website Vatican.va boasts a new graphic design.

The portal seeks to bring the Papal Magisterium and the heart of the Catholic Church closer to the whole world.

A new homepage — designed to offer a clearer and more accessible browsing experience — now welcomes visitors, who will be able to navigate more easily among the documentation of the Magisterium, both that of Pope Leo XIV and his predecessors.

The homepage update is part of an extensive editorial and development effort, structured in several stages with the goal of transferring the site's immense historical heritage — online since December 1995 — into a renewed portal.

To make these pages accessible, teams with diverse skills have worked and continue to work together: the Documentation Group, which ensured all content is accessible, and the Informatics Team of the Dicastery, which developed the structure.

It brings to life the project of Peruvian graphic designer Juan Carlos Yto (TMB.Lab), an alumnus of the first group of the Faith Communication in the Digital World program run by the Dicastery for Communication (our parent organization).

In a statement on the Dicastery’s website, Mr. Yto explained the portal design and his goal behind the new look:

"It must represent the embrace of the Church in the digital world. It was the first thing that came to mind when I heard about the intention to renew the official website of the Holy See.

Following the spirit and the elliptical shape of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s St. Peter’s Square: a Church with open arms, universally accessible and updated for modern times.

A clearer, more approachable, and contemporary Church.

The colors are inspired by the Roman sky blue, which contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of travertine. Sky and earth. Stone and depth.

Golden accents of divinity, light grays, and white to illuminate.

Larger and more prominent photographs on the homepage, to show a living and constantly moving Church.”

something very amusing to think about is sydcarmys violent and emotionally stunted but weirdly intimate and sexual soulmate connection from the perspective of the waitstaff because servers are an integral section of every restaurant and i know these poor minimum wage employees are clocking out every night wishing they could light the place and then themselves on fire but are also holding out for the sole reason of finding out whether their executive chef and cdc are fucking, plotting each others deaths or a secret third thing that no one wants to say out loud

It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.

People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.

And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.

If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

JOSEPH "JOE" RAMIREZ

Born October 5th, 1921, in Nebraska

Died April 8th, 1988 (age 66), in Martinez, California

Joe Ramirez enlisted in September 1942 (age 20) in San Francisco, CA, and he trained with Easy Company at Toccoa. Holding the rank of Private, he served in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne. He was hospitalized in January 1945, and discharged in July 1945. After the war, he was married for many years, and had children and grandchildren. When he passed away he was buried with his wife, who had passed away 11 years earlier. Further information about him is scarce, but the brief character profile in the Band of Brothers series bible describes him as Mexican-American, and his personality as "sensitive and nervous."

India and mclennon myth or reality?

People who claim mclennon as a real thing cite India as the main evidence. But, with the exception of Geoff Emerick(correct me if I’m wrong) that talked about how john and paul relationship changed after coming back has there been any other primary sources that cooperate this assumption??

or did other authors use his account as the primary source 🙃 because geoff is not the most reliable source, in the late 70s he said he didn’t remember alot of his time with Beatles yet suddenly decades later he writes a book and people took his account seriously 😐?!!

Beatles writers/authors are truly the worst (with the exception of few) they never check the information they just repeat it😒😒🙃🔪

random note about king on that animation, i got really lucky with how simple his animation was and how clean my sketches were to begin with that i was able to do very minimal cleanup on what i had sketched (and add back. his horn. it's supposed to take place just after echoes of the past, Oops) and call it done that way instead of having to redraw the entire thing like i had to on his dad

first sketch > line cleanup > nearly final animation (i'd added slight eye movements last-second but otherwise that's the final)
