Genuine question: what do we think will happen to Bob at the end of Doomsday? He’s the only New Avenger not listed on the cast list for Secret Wars on the MCU wiki which doesn’t make me too optimistic

The Skrull Bucky theory also has the potential to fix whatever bs they pull in Doomsday.
The movie doesn’t address Bucky betraying Sam at all or only spends a short moment covering it, only to go back to the regular SamBucky dynamic - that’s the real Bucky swapping back in!
Bucky acts like we see him in the post credits scene and he and Sam hardly interact - that’s the Skrull!
Bucky dies? - that’s the Skrull (RIP)!

This post is the first one I read in my notification dashboard this morning, and I'm not happy, but....
I'm writing my useless two cents about it then I'll post it, and immediately forget it even exists, because I had just started squashing Secret-Wars-adjacent panic attacks and now they anticipate the damage to Doomsday??
Anyway. Mackie here does one thing, actually two: he's citing Infinity Wars, not Endgame, and he's excited. ALSO, he's been very excited about Doomsday/Secret Wars and the "old days Marvel flavor" (which for us might not be THAT reassuring but hey, he's excited about it, not irked).
Sure, in IW they "killed" Sam. And Bucky. And a bunch of other heroes. Was it lame? Yes. Was it for the shock of it? Yes. Was it permanent? NO. He's talking about a cliffhanger, so a cheap way to shock audiences and force them to go watching also SW if they want to discover the fate of their beloved ones.
Am I saying they'll kill Cap in DD only to bring him back in SW? Honestly (hopefully) I don't see it likely. One, they have already killed Sam and Bucky. Let someone else, someone less expected, to be the one sacrificing themselves/being sacrificed. Plus, it was Cap saving everyone and bringing them back last time. I'd expect the same burden to fall on Cap's shoulders again.
Has Marvel been absolutely abysmal, lowkey passive-aggressive racist in its double standard for Steve VS Sam as Captain America? Hell yeah. Did they do Sam dirty with BNW promotion and generally as his role as Cap, god forbid young white cishet Boyz are shocked by the revelation of a Black Cap? Fuck them, sure. Will they get rid of him to bring Steve back? Hm. Suicide move. Maybe another-version-of-Steve alongside Sam, yes, but straight out deleting Sam after so little time as Cap, it's a dangerous move. More dangerous than whatever fuckup they did to Steve in EG.
Also, Mackie has always been pretty enthusiastic about the new saga, and while I don't remember if he'll be in SW too (I think both he amd Seb are? I may have read some titles?), this means they won't be mangling his role that bad. He's been pretty straightforward and curt and unmistakable about Sam’s role as Cap, and what Cap stands for, especially as a Black man. I understand not revealing everything or even a tiny bit of plot, but the feelings are HIS, and are honest. He believes in Sam’s Captain America, even more than us.
Let's trust Mackie, on this. I need to hope in good things. Dreams are not made to be stomped upon. And about the article itself, fuck journalists. I hate when interviewers throw in lines about permanent deaths without knowing shit, only to be shocking. Vultures, preying on corpses.
"Asked about his reaction to reading the script, Mackie was surprisingly open about things, including the fact that we might be getting another ending in the style of Infinity War. “You know what? I was really excited, man,” he said. “It’s one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting.”
"Mackie also teased what sets this entry apart from other Avengers outings:“You see these characters, and you see how they’re introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable.”
Satan really does have his favorites

Been giving some thought on Doomsday post BNW, Thunderbolts and random spoilers that have been hinted at.
I think we might see the Thunderbolts go (on the government's/Valentina's orders) and try and fight Doom for some reason, but they are who they are and obviously are toast because they are woefully unprepared for that type of fight. Within that fight one or more die (RIP, Alexei - should have watched your mouth when you were talking on Sam Wilson) and Bob and Bucky are captured (there's concept art of Bucky chained up i believe)
Meanwhile Sam and the real competent avengers are in madripoor on a different mission (x men/mutant related) and that's where Yelena and Ava find them and have to break the news to Sam, who is going to have to finish his own mission and then try and break his dumbass husband and his team out of a supervillain's lair. Eventually the Thunderbolts will realise that heroing is more than photoshoots and PR missions and ask to join Sam's team, punting Valentina into jail where her human experimenting ass deserves to be.

Thinking about that moment Ep 202 when Brad and Mobius were sitting at McDonalds and Brad was all like "what is happening right now it's like they're discussing every detail of their entire relationship!" and laughing because that's absolutely NOT what they were doing but should have been.

Okay but what if in Doomsday Dr. Doom somehow absorbs Bob’s Sentry/Void powers and then breaks Bob’s neck and plunges everyone into their shame rooms while he builds BattleWorld?
Russo Bros don’t you dare pull with Bob what you did with Vision I swear to god

Long day at work, but I'm caught up on the MCU news now. I'd been wondering about the references to chairs lol! 😆 But that was a fun way to do it.
My thoughts:
• I am so burned by Infinity War and Endgame that I'm excited, but cautiously so.
• But its nice to be kinda looking forward to an MCU movie for a change. I still haven't seen a few of the more recent ones.
• I'm excited to see Tom listed as being in Doomsday. I'd like to hope that this list of names indicates characters who will play a significant part in the story, not a cameo, or a short intro to the next film. But again I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I would hate for it to be something where Loki is just occasionally referenced as holding the timelines but doesn't actually interact with the main cast. I'm sick of him being in his own little bubble (first the Thor universe, and now the TV series universe). If you're using him in the films let him actually be a character not just a plot point.
• I wonder what flavour of Loki this will be? If the TVA Loki then I wonder if he'll be like season 1, season 2, Ragnarok, or broadly like the rest of the films. My preference is of course for him to be more like in the films.
• I hope they give him a wig this time and his hair is longer again. Especially if he's only in a small part of the show.
• I'd like to see a new costume, but something closer to the Asgardian outfit, but I can imagine that if he sees any sort of action he'll quickly change out of the comfy lounge clothes.
• Because I didn't like the series as much as rhe films I'm a little less invested this time, and that might be a good thing in regards to disappointment lol. 😅
• But oh God they better deliver on that sunshine!!!!! And that hug. *screams*
• Will there be multiple Loki variants? Perhaps the TVA variant will pluck a sacred timeline Loki out just before he's killed and plonk him into original Thor's timeline.
• I know lots of people don't want any of Loki's sacrifices to be undone because they will lose their weight, but I kinda think that it's been years now for their impact to be felt, so I think I'd have less problem with some comic book-y resurrections now. And yes, fuck you specifically, Thanos.
• And X-Men! I knew they were coming, but I did NOT expect any of the original actors to be part of this on any substantial way! I thought they'd settled that with the Xavier cameo in MoM. So I'm intrigued.
• Will they be their actual ages, or cgi'd to look younger? Will they be from a universe we've seen already, or something new and quite different? Will they have the same backstory? Particularly Magneto.
• I feel like at some point they have to develop new X-Men cast and stories for the MCU, so I half expect this will be the only movie with the original X-Men in it. We see this one universe where they're brought in to help, and then any future X-Men are from an entirely different universe where they happen to look a little different too.
• Part of me does wish there were chairs for McAvoy and Fassbender too, but this is already more than I'd hoped for.
• Loki and Xavier and Magneto in the same place?! I hope they get to meet. Actually I hope Loki gets to meet anyone new tbh... see earlier point. *sigh*
Oh, and does anyone have a list of what the musical themes were that were played for each actor? I recognised Loki's and Xavier's, but not Magneto's or any of the other X-Men and I'm curious.
Okay Marvel, you've got me interested.
Now it's time to deliver.

Speaking of Thunderbolts*, I think I have some theories for Doomsday.
I went back and watched the announcement trailer for Doomsday...and based on the Post-Credit scene for Thunderbolts*? I think it's very likely that, based on the dialogue and the cast list that, not only has Sam assembled his Avengers team? But that we know who they are!
Sam Wilson/Captain America (Anthony Mackie)
Joaquim Torress/Falcon (Danny Ramirez)
Shuri/Black Panther (Letita Wright)
Scott Lang/Antman (Paul Rudd)
Thor (Chris Hemsworth)
Shang-Chi (Simu Liu)
And honestly? If I'm right? That's a pretty good Avengers line-up imo.
As for the Fox X-Men characters? Well, if I had to guess, I think it's either part of their universe will get folded into Battle World, which will result in Doom trying to make them his allies against the FF and both Avengers teams. Remember, mutants are under Doom's protection in the comics, so I can actually see him trying to help them. But, given that this is Doomsy, I have no doubt believing he won't be above using them as both canon fodder, and as a way to distract the heroes form his actual endgoal; pitting them against each other so they don't realize he's played them all before it's too late.
Again, this is all just speculation on my part. It most likely won't pan out that way, especially with the announcement both films have been pushed back to Christmas of 2026 and 2027, respectively. Though really? I don't mind. Speculating can be fun, but sometimes it takes the fun out of actually watching the movie or show. So you're better off just going in blind.

#consider: jason spends the entire comic hating cops only for it to be dramatically revealed that he acts exactly like them#i'm emotionally very uninvested in this one tbh#: we know very very little about this solo and what it'll entail. all of this is speculation. via @spiritsglade
titans: beast world tour: gotham presents a jason todd who recognizes his own choice to kill as one that is fundamentally from a place of hurt & anger, lashing out because "i didn't get a fair shake, so why should anyone else?" it's a comic that specifically identifies that jason's claims about helping gotham are him lying to himself, a shield over his true selfish motivation.
there's a general critique here about how street-level vigilantes target the "thieves, drug dealers, gun-runners" instead of politicians and cops, the systemic injustices that push people into poverty, desperation, and crime in the first place. but it's a story about red hood, so while there is the implicit claim that vigilantes are approaching the problem wrong - treating the symptoms but not the disease - the explicit shots of jason filling hallways and rooms with corpses means this translates to a critique of his actions and his decision to kill.
the red hood story in titans: beast world tour: gotham is written by gretchen felker-martin. she's the writer on this new red hood solo, where we know for a fact that he will be killing a lot of people.
it means, if i had to guess, that his depiction in the solo will highlight similar flaws: demonstrate that his motivation for killing is hypocritical, selfishly motivated, and ultimately not contributing to any greater cause.
which would be fresh and different characterization. it's pretty much guaranteed to be different, given that jason hasn't properly been "killing a lot" since the olden days of post-crisis. it would be new. i don't think it's going to be new in a way that i like, but hey, who knows. i could love what comes out of this. i could hate it. at least it promises to be interesting.
#interesting speculation at least#i think robin and batman was so bad that everyone's doomsday prepping as a result#but i mean we got the fun concept of the all blades from rhato and that comic is infamously mediocre#given what we know i think this comic will be mid at best but i'm willing to give it a chance because hey maybe there'll be something good#but yeah beastworld was dogshit#pun intended

So I’ve been thinking about the rumored leaks to FF (the ones where Sue delivers Franklin Richards on board their ship as it flies into a black hole) and a thought occurred to me:
What if the Fantastic Four fail to save their earth from Galactus?
We know that Dr. Doom won’t appear in FF, and there could be two watsonian reasons why a VERY important FF comics character wouldn’t appear in an FF film—either he dies with the rest of the world or HE NEVER EXISTED IN THEIR WORLD AT ALL.

Bob/Bobby/Robert
I think it’s Robert not Bobby that Bob doesn’t want to be referred to as. It is consistently what Val calls him when trying to control him.
My speculation for Doomsday is that a third party convinces/forces Bob to turn into Sentry and in order to fight “the bad guy”. And the Thunderbolts get the idea to summon the void in order to neutralise him. With Yelena the one who can call Bob back from the Void it is up to John to summon the void out of Sentry.
And he does this by calling him Robert.
Also by saying a bunch of terrible things he doesn’t mean. Sentry can beat his ass but the plan works. Much later John has to hobble out his sick bed to apologise to Bob.
They can do that “I’m sorry I hurt you” ,“no, I’m sorry I hurt you”
#thunderbolts#Thunderbolts*#john walker#bob reynolds#sentry#void#Can be read as#sentryagent#voidwalker#I also like the idea of Bob not quite able to shake the void#But having it enough under control that he’s just a little black ink stain wrapped in a blanket#For movie night#Or at breakfast
