A kind reminder to respect nonhumans (mostly fictionkins/fictives) who are uncomfortable with doubles and don't interact with them.

Everyone's experience is different. I personally have nothing against doubles interacting with my blog, but I understand that some are not.

I stumbled upon a discord server for folks who identify as creepypasta characters. While reading the rules, I saw, that the creator of this server is uncomfortable with other people identifying as Jeff the Killer.

So I immediately left.

It's not offensive if someone does not want to interact because you're a double.

It's not offensive if someone is not comfortable with fictionkins/introjects from a certain source.

This "someone" doesn't hate you, they just have specific boundaries.

It IS offensive and mean if you don't respect those boundaries on purpose.

Be kind. Be respectful.

This is probably gonna make a shit ton of people mad but I'm going to get 100% real with yall out of a place of genuine concern.

I think a lot of yall are taking this yumeship thing to an extremely unhealthy level. I have struggled with maladaptive daydreaming my entire life, even now. I am seeing many similarities between my experience and some extreme behaviors exhibited by a good portion of yall. The part where I think that it differs is the mass encouragement of these unhealthy and dangerous behaviors by online communities.

I am not saying the entire community is bad, I think it can be very fun and silly! But it does get to a point... if you are having negative emotional reactions, distress, panick attacks over seeing another person enjoying the same character as you, that is not healthy. I know its a form of escapism and coping, but that absolutely does not mean it is healthy, and it especially should not be encouraged and fed into by others.

I know this really does suck to hear, but it is absolutely not normal to have adverse reactions over an anime character or object show character, whatever you're into.

Encouraging people to partake in and feeding into these unhealthy behaviors is dangerous. This is not safe. I truly feel a lot of you should take a step back, and maybe think about this from a non-fandom / online community perspective.

If you are struggling this way, please get offline for awhile. If you can, please talk about this with a professional who will help guide you through these issues. Do not take in everything about these behaviors from people online.

And for those of you encouraging this, step back and reevaluate your behavior and how your actions can have negative consequences on yourself and the people around you/ within your community.

An alternative term for 'doubles', used in the alterhuman or introject sense.

Plural: Idsames

I quite frankly have never liked the term 'doubles', as it feels pretty dehumanizing. Not wanting those who are kin of/are an introject of the same thing that you are is an okay boundary to have, but I'm against the use of the term 'doubles'. So, I coined an alternate term!

Etymology:

'Id' as in identity, including kins, introjects, and IRLs.

'Same' as in the same thing.

Here’s some positivity for systems who have doubles!

Doubles, or introjects who share the same source individual, are a common occurrence in the plural community, and may be common within a single system! Most introjects are unable to choose their source, and there is nothing wrong with having multiple introjects of the same person, character, object, being, or concept in your own system. This post goes out to all the systems with doubles out there!
