Hello all!
We're a new exchange, All But Romance Fanwork Exchange, a low pressure multifandom gift exchange run on AO3 focused on all kinds of platonic relationships - familial, friendships, colleagues etc.
We're focusing on fanworks with no romantic or sexual content, so for the purpose of this exchange, we decided not to accept relationships indicated by a / (slash).
We're also excited to announce that in the upcoming days, the nominations for the exchange will commence! If you're interested, we welcome you to check out the rules on our Dreamwidth :-)

You know, the reason why I'm sceptical over communities on Tumblr is because I think the issue is not how it was lacking in a community feature but how there seems to be a lack of a community mindframe for a lot of the userbase. There's only so much you can do when a lot of people have devolved into only ever using likes rather than actually getting in touch with others -- and there's only so much conversation you can withstand when every new addition equates to reblogging a post in full and potentially annoying your followers with "walls of text" (since, let's be real, this isn't a text-forward website)...
#i'm not counting replies because they're so very limited. i use them quite a lot myself but yeah they're way too restricted#idk i was Having Thoughts. every now and again the crazy dream of starting a wn comm on dreamwidth knocks at my door#but then i think that the fandom is pretty... dead tbh and people don't seem interested in the sort of discussions a comm might house#(not to mention how very few wn fans are on dw -- much to my disappointment!)#or the sort of overall events we could have too. this time of the year is great for gift giving for instance#have you ever looked at fandomtrees? and yet it's just silence here. we go on the wn tag here and we advertise our new fic chapter#or we post art that gets likes but very few verbal reactions all in all so there's no way of knowing what the like actually means#(i know i have serial likers among my followers but tbh we've traded a few words sometimes. i know you guys are real and not bots lol)#(and i appreciate you! i do! though it's a lot more fun when we do get to talk every now and again via dm or elsewhere :) )#and so we watch this nice thing we had just shrivel away and people go on to the next new shiny fandom i guess. eh.#(i was rereading a few of the posts i have on my#meta fandom talk i guess#tag and it inspired this melancholy post LOL i'm fine i'm fine)#not-shenunigans

Fandomtrees!
🎄Fandomtrees🎄
I’m participating in fandomtrees on Dreamwidth again.
This is a low-stakes gift-giving event where people can make fandom wishes and others can then fulfill those wishes. It’s even possible to ask for non-fandom stuff like recipes, picspams of animals, rec lists etc.
It was a lot of fun last year! 🎇
Here is my tree if you want to take a look!
Or perhaps you want to put up a tree of your own? Sign-up runs until Dec. 5th, so there’s still some time left for you to join! You don't need a Dreamwidth account.

admittedly this is "old man yells at clouds" energy, but I think it sucks that modern fandom often only conceives of community in the form of discord servers
#logically I understand why it's become preferred: scalability#ease of use and the network effect#but it severely advantages certain styles and dispositions where if you can't manage or perform you're gonna probably have a bad time#like yes those issues kinda always existed but the structure and speed of the platform exacerbates it in extreme ways#every time I see that a creators event requires joining a discord server I die a little inside#lol but not like I have answers because most people are not going back to dreamwidth for lj-styled communities#just out here mourning the loss of threaded async conversations#it is what it is#🧂🧂🧂

This is a flash exchange. As such, participants are not guaranteed gifts. Works will reveal on the final date even if there are outstanding fics. Late treats are welcome!

A Few Small Events Happening on Dreamwidth
Posted by: kalloway A few small events and whatnot, many inspired by 3weeks4dreamwidth: Multi-Fandom Writing Prompt Comms & Whatnot 2024 Edition - what it says on the tin, additions quite welcome! (List pruned and posted yearly, additions welcome any time.) There's a friending meme happening over on anime_manga, for anyone looking for more friends into anime, manga, and adjacent fandoms. Group-read (as in, a group all reading, sometimes on a theme, sometimes not) community readingtogether is holding a Minithon until the 15th of May. There's no theme, other than reading and chatting for 3W4DW. Multifandom spring-inspired fanwork community spring_renewal just finished its annual round, and all prompts will be retired at the beginning of the next round. Come check out the prompt list, post for amnesty, and let it be spring all year long. There's a Cygames Prompt Fest happening over here, arguably for 3W4DW but it'll remain open indefinitely. Prompts for any game or anime Cygames is involved are welcome. (Granblue Fantasy, Dragalia Lost, Rage of Bahamut, Bravern, Zombie Land Saga, Priconne, World Flipper, Little Noah, etc.) There's also a new Rec-A-Game Meme, for anyone who'd like video game recommendations. It's been more than a decade since the last one, so it's time. It'll also remain open indefinitely. And lastly, small_fandoms is running its annual Small Fandoms Promofest, which runs from today until May 15th. Come share a bit about your favorite small fandoms or maybe find a new one of your own! comments via The Fandom Calendar https://ift.tt/9dACugj

This is not my first "oh, god, Tumblr is imploding" rodeo and I'll probably keep using this site until it goes down for good, BUT if you're curious about where else to find me:
atamascolily on A03 - fic and longer, more polished meta
atamascolily on Dreamwidth - book reviews, writing meta and reflections, long-form rambling
atamascolily on YouTube - fanvids/AMVs
I do have a Pillowfort account under the same name, but I rarely use it at the moment (could change if that's where people end up going)
I also have a Discord account, but I use it primarily for chatting with people I already know, so it's best to make contact through another platform first.
I've always thought of Tumblr as a sandbox--fun but ephemeral--rather than a permanent platform, but I appreciate being able to reach a wider audience, meet more people, jot down shitposts, and easily post images, all of which are harder to do on other sites. That said, I'd like to give a huge shout-out to Dreamwidth, which is stable, fandom-friendly, and a recreation of the Livejournal experience, which is where I first got started in fandom. I don't know if Dreamwidth will ever have the reach and width of Livejournal, but I personally love it and encourage people to try it out if they can!
Given that FFN has been running on a shoestring for years if not decades, and is still up, I'd imagine that Tumblr can keep going for a long time. Whether or not it'll still be a fun hangout if it's not regularly maintained is another question entirely.

Finding friends and things to do on Dreamwidth
I made a different post about this at an earlier time, but honestly, I think I can do better now.
Anyway! One of the things that sucks about moving social media and/or blogging platforms is not knowing if there will be enough activity for you at the new place. Be it from old friends, new friends, or interactive communities, there's a lot of ways you could find activity at a new place, but finding at least two of those categories can be tricky in itself.
Luckily, Dreamwidth has a few shortcuts for you already!
Adding new people to your reading page and finding new friends:
addme: Straight up a place to find new "mutuals" on Dreamwidth, with no particular focus; a good place to start!
addme_fandom: Same as above, but with a specific fandom focus! Interested in a particular fandom right now and want more people to talk about it with? Here's a good place to find fellow fans!
fandomcalendar: This is a community dedicated to announcing fandom events, which can include fandom-specific friending memes. (I'll be linking this one again later, as well.)
Getting started on Dreamwidth:
newcomers: A community dedicated specifically to helping Dreamwdth newcomers find their way around on a new site! I believe it was launched around the time Cohost was being shut down, so a lot of the people there now are Cohost "refugees", but it's still a good place to start.
dw_news: The official Dreamwidth news community. I highly recommend following this one and the next one, which will help you keep up with what's going on around Dreamwidth. DW News typically only posts a few times a year, but maybe that'll change if a bunch of new users come by...
dw_maintenance: Keep up with the mechanical goings-on at Dreamwidth! If there's a planned site outage or if DW is updating code, you can find out more here; if there's something funky going on at Dreamwidth but the site is generally still usable, it's also a good place to check.
Things to do on Dreamwidth:
dw_community_promo: The official Dreamwidth community for promoting Dreamwidth communities! People will promote new communities here, as well as events going on in established communities. A good place to find out about new things in general.
followfriday: A place to share links to check out once a week. Did you find a cool community that you want more people to know about? Link it in the comments here!
justcreate: A place where you can talk about things you're working on. There's a weekly check-in/reporting post, but sometimes people also organize body doubling sessions and other productivity-boosting things.
queerly_beloved: An anti-exclusionist queer space to get together and talk about all things queer, including intersectional matters. Hosts a weekly recommendations thread, but more and other content is very welcome!
Fandom things to do on Dreamwidth:
fandomcalendar: I linked this above, and I'm linking it again: Want to know about fandom events that are going on at Dreamwidth? This is a good place to do it! It'll also fill up your reading page in a hurry; you might be surprised at how many events are going on at Dreamwidth, or are at least connected there!
fictional_fans: A community for all fans and fandoms. If you've got a post you want to make about fandom in general, or a specific fandom that doesn't have its own community, this might be a good place to check out.
fandom_on_dw: Pretty much the same as above, honestly, but it's good that there's more than one place that hosts this kind of thing!
Anything else?
Search Interests: Individuals and communities can have lists of things they're "interested in". If more than one person has that thing listed, it may turn into a hyperlink that you can click to find other accounts with! You can also use the Search Interests function pretty much the same way. Simply type "cats" into the search bar, hit enter, and a bunch of accounts that have "cats" listed as an interest will pop up!
The Latest Things Page: Literally the latest things posted publicly anywhere on Dreamwidth. There's a list of commonly used tags at the top, if you want to narrow things down at all, but in the mean time, it can be pretty neat to see what J. Random Dreamwidth User just posted about!
The Explore Tab: Useful links for Dreamwidth in general. In addition to linking to the Latest Things Page, it can take you to a random account, the FAQ page, and more! Worth checking out if you're feeling lost.
And that's all I can think of at the moment! This should help you get started at least, and help fill out your reading page a bit.
If you still have questions or want to do more, you can check out my Dreamwidth 101 tag; I'm also happy to at least try to answer any questions myself. I'm pretty sure I've got a few "Dreamwidth for Tumblrites" guides linked in my Dreamwidth 101 section, if nothing else...

Introducing Springcest Fest!
Springcest Fest is a shipcest (fictional incest) bingo event with a special challenge: to include all 3 squares of your bingo in one work.
You can choose from any of three of the 3x3 bingo cards below (they are also on BlueSky).
The pink card was designed by @cassetteinability, the yellow card by @goldenbi, and the white card by @litcest, with help from @rotting-clowns.
The goal is the same as any other bingo: to make a row, column, or diagonal by using each of the prompts, except this time you have to include them all in one work… or if you’re feeling particularly inspired: a full blackout card where you fill every prompt in one work.
This event will run from April 20th to June 20th.
Works do not need to be posted specifically on AO3, they can be posted anywhere. Any type of creation is accepted for this event except those generated by AI. Examples of what you could create: fic, digital art, a painting, a moodboard, a rec post of a book that fits the prompts, a playlist, origami, a sweater, a pie… If you can make it fit the prompt then go for it!
Link to the AO3 Collection: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/SpringCest
Macrocest is on Tumblr, Bluesky, and Dreamwidth. Microcest is on Tumblr, Bluesky, and Dreamwidth.
Q: Will it count if I make canonically non-related characters be related in this event? A: Absolutely, you can do that! They do NOT need to be related in canon for it to count in this event. You can make them related in any way that you please (including siblings, parent/child, long lost uncle/aunt, or even pseudocest like step-siblings, godparent/godchild, whatever!) You could even make it incest-roleplay (aka fauxcest) between non-related characters.
Q: Can I use each prompt in a different chapter? A: Yes, as long as they are all in one single work.
Q: I have two different AO3 accounts, could I do two bingo cards? A: Yes, you can do multiple bingo cards!
Q: Could I do two bingo cards? A: Yes, you can do multiple bingo cards!
Q: Can I post the bingo card on social media? A: Absolutely! And if you want you can tag us too!
Q: Can we write NSFW for a prompt? A: Absolutely!
Q: Could I make art? A: YES!!!! PLEASE DO!!!
Q: Is faux-cest allowed? As in people not blood related partaking in roleplay? A: Yes! Faux-cest, pseudo-incest, step-siblings, incest play, implied incest, etc. are allowed.
Q: If I post a link to my work on Tumblr/BlueSky will you reblog my post? A: Yes, we will reblog every work that tags our Tumblr/BlueSky account. Give us 72 hours to have it reblogged before reaching out to us about it. If we still have not reposted it in that time, then please feel free to DM or send us an ask about it.
Q: How should I incorporate the prompts into my work? A: Feel free to use the exact word/phrase in your work, or just use the prompt as a general idea. (Example: if the prompt is ‘not in the swimming pool!’ then you can use that as a quote from one of the characters, or simply write about a scene where something ensues that maybe shouldn’t be done in a swimming pool.)
Q: I don't think I understand this prompt... A: Do not be afraid you will get the prompt “wrong,” they are all up to your interpretation. However, if you really need a clarification or there is a confusing typo, please email us.
Q: What is the word count requirement? A: There are no word count requirements! You can go as short or as long as you would like.
Q: Can I change the spelling in my prompt? A: Yes! You can change the spelling since they are all Americanized, and you may do the in-universe equivalent of the object (e.g. “Family Portrait” instead of “Family Photo”).
Q: One of the prompts says "mom" but my pairing is not with the mom. What should I do? A: Some of the prompts have suggested family members. These are simply suggestions. You can switch these if they do not fit your fandom, but also remember the mentioned family member does not need to be part of the pairing to be a part of the story/prompt. (e.g. "Mom's favorite" could be a brocest main pairing where one brother is jealous of the other being mom's favorite.)
Q: It's past June 2025. Can I still post a fic/art in this collection? A: Yes, you can still submit a work after June 2025.
Q: Can we combine a prompt here with another event? A: Yes! As long as it follows the rules of both/all of the events!
Q: Can I submit the work on AO3 anonymously? A: You can absolutely submit your work anonymously.
Q: When are these works due? A: The due date is June 20th, 2025, however the collection will remain open for works indefinitely. If it’s past that date and you want to post, please do!
Q: Can I mix 2 of the bingo cards? A: Yes, you can mix the prompts into one story and cross off both prompts! However you still need bingo on at least one card to get an official bingo.
Q: Can I write a whole fic with each chapter being about one prompt? A: Yes, you can definitely write one fic where each chapter is a different prompt! It does not need to be a oneshot.
Q: Do reader-insert fics count? A: Yes! We accept reader insert fics!
Q: Do you allow RPF (real person fiction)? A: Yes! We accept RPF works!
Q: I liked a prompt so much I used it for another pairing that's not incest. What should I do? A: If it is pseudocest or fauxcest or has incest themes then it can still be used in this collection. But, if you use a prompt for a non-incest pairing with no incest themes, just add it to our Oops Not Incest collection instead!
Q: I have another question that wasn’t answered here. Is there somewhere else I can ask? A: Any other questions can be asked by sending us an ask on Tumblr, emailing us at [email protected], or tagging us on Bluesky.
Rules:
1. All works/creations need to include (fictional) incest, but every fandom is welcome! 2. Relationships can include more than just the incest pairing, but the incest pairing must feature. 3. NSFW, kinky, Dead Dove and dark content is welcome, but please tag them accordingly. 4. No AI or LLM (Large Language Model/Generative Artificial Intelligence) works allowed.

[ID: Text in the center says Polyam Shipping Day, 14th of every month, June 2025 - Domesticity. Below Polyam Shipping, and to the left of Day, is a red infinity sign that finishes in a heart on top. Surrounding the text are rows of stylized hearts in the colors of both versions of the polyam pride flag (black, red, bright blue, light green, dark green, light blue, navy). Either side of the prompt are emojis, house with garden on the left and guide dog on the right. /end ID]
June 14th 2025 is our 48th Polyam Shipping Day. The optional theme for it is: 🏡Domesticity🦮
There are many angles you could choose for this prompt. This could be about kitchen table polyamory and how partners get along in the domestic space. This can be about the transition period after moving in together or when there's new relationships within the polycule. Maybe this is time to dust off that curtain fic you started working on some time ago but thought no one would read. Perhaps you will try your hand at future slice of life where your polycule has been a family for a while. This can also be about revelations had in domestic settings. Maybe your characters are adopting a pet and adjusting to this new reality.
…
We’ll be tracking #PolyamShippingDay, and keeping an eye out for any @polyamships mentions too. We will reblog any polyam-positive fanworks featuring polyamorous ships of any configuration/type from any fandom. All ratings are welcome but anything nsfw/triggery should be warned for and behind a read more, as should very long tumblr fic.
You can also submit works directly to the blog or send us asks to let us know to check your blog for a post. If you’re posting on AO3, our collection name is ‘PolyamShippingDay‘ and you can post to the collection here. Only fanworks submitted/@ us on tumblr or in the official AO3 collection, or fanworks posted to our Dreamwidth community, are guaranteed to be included in our roundup. Please also let us know what prompt you created for, if any - people are always welcome to create for past prompts instead.
We have a Discord - invite here - if you want a place to chat about your ships or what you’re creating for them.
We look forward to seeing what people create for it. If you’re enthused about the day, we’d be especially appreciative of any reblogs to help spread the word about the event.

PSA: Blanket Statements
What is a blanket statement?
A blanket statement is information on your preferences for other creators to interacting with your works. It is helpful for others to know if you welcome podfics, fanart, recursive fiction, translations, remixes, etc of your works!
How can I make a Blanket Statement?
You can use Fanworks Permission Statement Builder to build a version tailored to you!
Or if you want your Blanket Statement to be a Blanket Permission for all fanworks you can use/modify the sentence below:
I welcome transformative works based off of my fan works! This includes podfic, fanart, translations, remixes, recursive fiction and any other fanwork inspired by my works.
Once you have your BS add it to your Ao3 profile. You can also add it to a pinned post in your Tumblr profile or on any other sites you use (Dreamwidth, bluesky, etc).

Reblog with links to your Blanket Statements to let your followers know where to find it!
More info on Blanket Statements in below:
Do I have to allow all types of derivative/transformative works in my statement?
No, the statement is only an information on your stance on fanworks based on your works. You can allow all fanworks - amazing! You can say you'd rather be asked first before anything is published- great, it makes you more approachable! You can say you don't want any derivative works - thank you, now I know just to admire your works and not bother you with requests ^^
You can even have a mix for example: "Blanket permission for podfics and fanart. For translations or continuing my fics - please ask me first"
What are other information are useful to have with your BS?
How to contact you (comment/tumblr/other social media)
How would you like to be creddited? Is inspired by option on ao3 enough?
Are there any platforms you'd rather derivatives of your works be not shared on? (Note that ao3 doesn't have native hosting for audio and images, so any works in that medium will need to be hosted elsewhere, for example on Internet Archive, Gdrive, Tumblr, Youtube)
I'm worried about AI using my works.
That's understandable. You can add a note saying you do not allow your works to be used by AI in any way - for example to train in or to be used in AI prompts.
I don't have any/much works published. Is it still helpful for me to add a blanket statement?
Yes, in case you create something in the future you'll have it ready to go! And even if you don't it still normalizes having a BS and raises awareness about them!
Why don't people just ask for permission directly?
It can be hard for people to reach out with permission requests for a variety of reasons. They might be participating in time-limited event, where waiting for a response is not viable. They might be in the mood to create *right now*. Asking for permission sometimes feels like a commitment too, so it's easier for many creators to just surprise author with their creation after it's done. Sometimes people ask for permission, but never hear back, or get rejected.
Having an ask-first statement helps you be more approachable too! It shows that you might be open/welcoming to the request.
I've added a Blanket Permission to my profile! Is there a way for me to make it even easier to find for other creators?
Yes! If you have a Blanket Permission available publicly you can add a link to it and username to fanwork permission statement list. You can use this sheet to submit your own permission. There is a browser extension that highlights all usernames with BP in the fps database on ao3.
