E. Jason Gibbs ~ fish point
fish point is a gorgeous meditation on place and time, one that bemoans what has been lost and celebrates what still exists.  Recorded in Portland, Maine, the set teems with the sounds of water and wildlife, but also reflects the proliferation of industrial sounds and the slow dissolution of everything that made Fish Point so appealing in the first place. After reading the liner notes, one might…

On the decks
Superpang is one of the more interesting labels that appeared on Bandcamp during the pandemic. It quickly became a favorite and something to look forward to with each new release.
This week, let's listen to a couple recent favorites:
Beautiful and captivating droney material made by this heretofore unknown to me percussionist and composer Sébastien Forrester. Noted as:
A reverie on Aveyron, an homage to the bourrée of the elders
Sébastien Forrester - Occitanian tambour, metal percussion, tambourine, FM pipes, synthesizer Gabriel Delfour - additional hurdy-gurdy Gaston Vialard - additional cabrette bagpipe
A delightful new recording by Greg Davis and someone unknown to me previously, E. Jason Gibbs. This one is a delicate interplay between the two sound artists/musicians, defining their own language through minimalist sounds.

DARKWING IN: Freddy vs Jason
youtube
youtube
youtube
these teens were have a party that was next door to the mallards.
"Marry, f*ck, or k*ll? Your choices are-- your choices are the Three Stooges. Go, Kia"
"Oh, God...Which one had the super-bad toupee hair?"
"Harry, Mar-- No!"
"No, no, no. It was Moe"
"Either one, I'd k*ll him"
"OK, who'd you f*ck, then?"
"This is stupid, y'all"
"Come on. Come on"
"Oh, God. Whatever, look. I'd f*ck the bald guy, and I'd marry Larry. Jesus. Is this what we're doing all night?
'Cause, y'all, this is really stank"
"Hey! Gibb, what are you doing? I thought you were gonna quit"
"I only smoke when I drink now"
"But you're always drinking"
"Yeah, well, I'll work on that next Hey, OK. I got another one. Fred, Scooby, or Shaggy?"
"Oh!"
"I'm not answering that and neither is she. Do you guys think I should get a nose job?"
"Oh, my God"
"Oh, please, Kia, what you need is a lobotomy"
Then suddenly as it was raining outside the lights started flickering.
"I think I'm gonna get some candles"
"I'm gonna get some beer. Do you guys want anything?" As the girl threw her cigarette out, it hit the hockey mask of legendary killer: jason voorhees, an otter with a machete.
"Are you sure you should be driving?"
"I'm so under the limit, Lori." As she opens the door her boyfriend came out.
"Surprise" and behind him a friend.
"Oh, Trey. You answered my prayers. Thank you"
"Whoa, babe! What'd I tell you about kissing me... after you've smoked, huh?"
"Lighten up. They're menthols"
"Yeah. I brought Blake. Where's Linda?"
"It's Lori. This is her house, so don't be a total cocksmith"
"Whatever"
"Where are the ladies?"
"Relax, they'll be here"
"I'm relaxed, man"
"I'm just wet"
"Did you know they were coming over?"
"Listen, you gotta be quiet. Hey, we knew you were be here all alone this weekend. Blake's cute"
"He's not my type"
"Oh! Who is? No one's ever gonna live up... to the fuzzy memory of your first love, Lori. You were f*cking fourteen, so get over it"
"Yeah, I know we were young... but what Will and l had was real"
"Well, correct me if I'm wrong... but didn't Mr. Real just drop-kick your ass... without so much as a good-bye handshake? He ever even call or maybe even write to you after he moved? Send you an e-mail?"
"No"
"You see my point? It's time to leave the convent, Lori.
You need to meet a guy"
The lights went out and two of the teens started making out making Lori to bring in the candles.
"Hey, Lori...I like the... flow of your place. Got good feng shui"
"Yeah"
"You know about feng shui?"
"Oh, oh! Oh, you should see her bedroom! Hmm?
Great flow in there. Lori, why don't you go upstairs and show Blake your feng shui?"
"Shut up!"
"I got a kink in my neck. Come on. You can massage it out for me"
"I think I need a few more drinks... before there'll be any massaging"
"What do you see in him?"
"I don't know, but he has a cute ass"
"Babe, don't make me ask you twice, OK?"
"So, Lori... am I gonna get that grand tour or what?"
"Yeah. You know, why don't you start in the kitchen... and get us some beers?"
"Cool"
"Oh, my God, Kia, he is a total idiot. Get him out of here"
"Oh, Lori, come on, give him a chance"
"I don't like him"
"You know what? You don't like anybody. I mean, Lori, you've barely gone out since--"
"Since what? Since my mom died? Yeah, well, you know what? My dad needs me. So I can't just go out with guys all the time... and if I did, it would not be with somebody like Blake"
But then the back door was open and someone was creaking upstairs.
"Your back door was open. I closed it"
"Mmm"
"Babe, you know I don't like to be touched after, OK?"
"Fine. I'll go have a shower then"
"Good. Your hair smells like menthols, anyway"
"assh*le"
As the guy lay in bed, he turns to see Jason there, who starts stabbing him in bed multiple times and once tray has enough, Jason closes the bed crushing him.
"Trey!" The girl steps out of shower, "What the hell are you doing?" She steps on a puddle of blood.
And when she saw his deceased body, she screams but Then it turns out to be gosalyn screaming, she wakes up from a nightmare.
After she wakes up, drake comes in to comfort her after he hears her screams.
"Gosayln? What's wrong?" He sits by her bed cupping her shoulders.
"It's nothing dad just a nightmare"
"Well you're safe now" he says.
But the nightmare just begun when next door they see the neighbors screaming and panicking running out of the house, the two look through the window to see the police arrived.
"What do you think's happening" gosayln asked.
"I don't know but I better go check it out" he changes to Darkwing.
"We need to lock this down now. Keep it contained, you hear me?" A agent named grizoff says.
"k*lled in bed. Jesus. It's even the same damn house.
It's gotta be him, right? It's gotta be Freddy Krueger"
"Hey! Don't even say... that son of a bitch's name out loud. Let's just keep it together. We've been through too much to let this thing spread now Take all the kids down to the station. Keep them separate.Do it now"
"What's going on?" Darkwing asked.
"It's nothing important, just a little accident"
"From what I heard it didn't sound like a accident"
Gosayln ends up waiting at the police station while Darkwing investigates.
"Anything?" Grizoff says.
She doesn't know anything.
"They don't know anything. None of them do. Pretty sure we're good"
"Ugh, very well, Good work there tonight, Darkwing.
Right place, right time. But we'll take it from here, all right?"
"Alright I guess I'll get going now"
Darkwing approaches gosayln, "Do they know who did this?" She asked.
"No, not yet sweetheart but we're working on it"
"But I thought I heard... one of the officers mention a name"
"You know, to tell you the truth, sweetheart...this is my first murder case but if they have a suspect, I'd be the first to know"
"But why did they asked me all these really weird questions...Like about my dreams--"
"Look it's been a long night for both of us why don't you wait here I'm gonna get dressed and we'll leave" Darkwing heads to a private room with no cameras.
"What was the name? What was the name?" Then gosayln remembered, "Freddy"
Then she finds the entire station empty, "Hello? Darkwing? Dad? Anyone here?"
She looks around and on the wall were posters of missing kids and blood started falling on the ground it came from nowhere.
She walks passed the wall when the kids looked at her.
Tumblr media
Then she sees a little girl, "hey little gurl, Are you OK? Are you lost?"
She turns the little girl around only to find her eyeballs have been cut out.
"AH!"
"His name is Freddy Krueger... and he loves children, especially little girls. Freddy's coming back. Soon he'll be strong enough. It's OK to be afraid. We were all afraid. Warn your friends. Warn everyone"
Terrified the wall turns to her house, she backs up into the door all scared.
Then blood poured down, she looks around to see little girls singing his rhythm.
"One, two, Freddy's coming for you Three, four, better lock the door Five, six, grab a crucifix Seven, eight, try to stay up late Nine, ten, never sleep again One, two, Freddy's coming for you..."
"Who's Freddy? Dad? Anyone?" Then out of nowhere a A disfigured and burned badger with bladed claws jumped at her.
"AH!" She screams then Drake shook her.
"Gosayln wake up" she awoke to find it was only another nightmare.
"What" she stammered and was confused.
"It's ok, it was just a nightmare" she holds on tight to him as he carried her home.
"Let's go home"
Meanwhile another teen was gonna get a visit from Freddy.

Please never vote for any of these people again
Sorry, St Bluebell isn’t here today.  Besides how much I hate Hobby Lobby, the one potentially rage inducing issue I bring up on this site is voting.  After I have encouraged all of you to register and cast your votes, these people voted to nullify the election results in states where their candidate didn’t win.  They did so *after* the assault on the Capitol Building, after they had seen the consequences of their attempt to undermine the peaceful transfer of power in this country.
Every year our government becomes more powerful, gains more power over the daily lives of its citizens.  Its knows where you live, it knows who you talk to on the phone, it knows what library books you checked out, it knows what you had for breakfast.  The most important issue facing us today is whether we, the people, will ensure that we have a government we can trust before we lose all control of it.  Every single one of these people should be primaried by their own party and never allowed to hold any public office again.

Michael Moore posted on Facebook:
Immediately Remove The Republicans Who Voted In Favor of the Terrorists’ Demands
It’s not just Trump who has to go. The Constitution is clear. Any member of Congress who participates in an “insurrection or rebellion” is in violation of the oath they took to defend and uphold the Constitution — and thus they may no longer serve in Congress. Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, written initially to exclude Confederate Civil War traitors, says that "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress … who … having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same[.]"
There are 147 Republican members of the Senate and the House who late last Wednesday night (and into the early hours of Thursday morning) — just hours after a domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol which they and Trump helped to incite — voted to overturn (throw out) the legal and already-certified votes of millions of Americans in the states of Pennsylvania and Arizona. It was an act of sedition and a flagrant violation of their oath of office. Legal experts and other members of Congress have called it an act of treason. THIS MUST BE DEALT WITH. They must be, as the Constitution requires, removed from Congress.
Here are their names. And to be clear: The cop-killing terrorist mob who attacked, trashed, took over and shut down our United States Congress for seven hours — the first time in history this has ever happened — their terrorist demands and their stated intention was to prevent the counting of the votes of millions of Americans and illegally give the election to Trump. So what did these 147 Republican lawmakers do just hours after these domestic terrorists stormed the Capitol in the hopes of killing, harming or kidnapping some of their fellow representatives, including their Republican Vice-President!? They voted to give in to the terrorists’ demands! And do EXACTLY what the cop-killing mob had demanded they do: Throw out the votes of the American people! Imagine if on the night of 9/11, 147 Republican members of Congress voted to give in to the demands of Al Qaeda. We never would have stood for that and we would have had them all arrested. But of course there’s a difference: Bin Laden wanted to take down buildings in the financial and military capitols of America and kill 3,000 people in the process. These 147 Republicans just wanted to take down American Democracy.
ALL 147 OF THEM MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY PER SECTION 3 OF THE 14th AMENDMENT OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION:

Various Artists — Solstice: A Tribute to Steffen Basho-Junghans (Obsolete Recordings)
Tumblr media
Steffen Basho-Junghans
Solstice: A Tribute to Steffen Basho-Junghans by Various Artists
Steffen Basho-Junghans was a master of the steel string guitar, born in East Germany but finding a spiritual home in the geographically indeterminant blend of folk, blues and raga of the Takoma School.  Like Robbie Basho, whose name he appended to his, Basho-Junghans could play in a spare, contemplative style or conjure eddies and cascades of orchestra complexity. His work was always crystal clear and precise, but it evoked something beyond the notes themselves, a mystery and transcendence.
Basho-Junghans died last December, and so Buck Curran, who is also a devotee and practitioner of the Takoma style, brought together an international group of guitarists to pay tribute. His Solstice follows the same format as homages to Jack Rose (Ten Years Gone: A Tribute to Jack Rose) and Robbie Basho (We are All One, In the Sun: A tribute to Robbie Basho and Basket Full of Dragons: A Tribute to Robbie Basho Vol II). These are not covers, but rather free-flowing meditations on Junghans-Basho’s art and influence, with different artists emphasizing different elements of his work.
Curran himself opens and closes the disc with two mournful, contemplative versions of “Winter Solstice.” He plays both cuts on a 12-string guitar that once belonged to Robbie Basho, and that, indeed, featured on all of his records from 1965 to 1986. The guitar, however, needs some serious repair. Curran’s slow, considering approach, where each bent note gets the space to hang and decay, may be partly down to the instrument. In an email, he confided, “[It’s] only possible to play the first few frets, open notes/open harmonics and play slide with it (as I did on my recordings).” The two cuts are, nonetheless, very beautiful, both excellent examples of the rewards of working within limitations.
Many of the other artists on this 22-track collection will be familiar to fans of this Fahey-influenced style of playing. Joseph Allred lets the mountain air (and a few birdcalls) into his exploration of Basho-Junghans’ raga blues in “An Upper Cumberland Raga,” while Isasa, from Spain, lets the space between notes speak in the lovely “Paseo por el Alto Tajo.” In “Every Blue,” Nick Jonah Davis finds tranquility in limpid slides, while Boston’s Robert Noyes rambles and jangles against a bowed note drone in “Surmises.”
The most revealing tracks, though, are the ones that depart furthest from what you expect. Henry Kaiser’s “Requiem for Steffen Basho-Junghans” jars a full set of strings into discord. It sounds like a piano after it’s dropped a couple of feet, ringing with disgruntled dissonance. E. Jason Gibbs plays guitar like a percussion instrument, letting abrupt squeaks and squawks mark out unsettling intervals of time. And Bhajan Bhoy’s “I Can See the Lights of Heaven” interpolates 78-record crackle, bell-like guitar cadences and actual bells, into a chiming, luminous soundscape that opens to the numinous just as Basho-Junghans’ work often did.
Altogether, it’s a lovely tribute, but also absolutely its own thing. It may help to know Basho-Junghans’ music, or to be familiar with the participating artists, but it’s not necessary. So, use Solstice to honor Basho-Junghans if you already admire him. Or put it on to explore how forward-thinking guitar players are extending his vision around the world. It’s also a way to help out since some of the proceeds from Solstice will go to Basho-Junghans family. All good reasons to check in. What are you waiting for?
