considering the post mentioned uprooted by the antlers ill just throw in lyrics that make me think of them to start in no particular order and without any explanation because its 3am and im eepy

ive always thought of them as having a dynamic where hollowpaw has a crush at first sight and ivypaw is just kind of there until she gets to know him more and they become friends. i feel like she would have started sneaking out to see him and they would maybe visit the horseplace for fun at night when they weren't training or they would explore beyond the woods to practice their new fighting moves. he's very bad at hiding his crush but also ivypaw is so obscenely oblivious to it that it's painful. she's just focused on the fact that she finally has made a friend and since she's never really had one before she has no idea what a Social Cue is

they probably would eventually get caught sneaking out (ivypaw by dovepaw of course, how could she not hear her sister leaving for long periods of time?) and eventually it has to come to an end especially as they get closer to the battle. before the battle happens they meet one more time, go on one more little adventure, and hollowflight tells her how he feels, they're in love, blahblahblah. they go to battle, hollowflight is killed when ivypool isn't there to help him, and she is devastated and feels guilty about the whole thing

i personally try to pretend fernsong doesn't exist in canon because his entire relationship with ivy makes my head hurt (sorry fernsong, i just don't love characters dating their close relatives) but if i had to fit him into this narrative it would be as a poor rebound on ivypool's part. (and also in this universe they are not related, by magic or whatever.) she is haunted by her old friend in her dreams here and there, mainly nightmares where they are back in the dark forest and he is killed by hawkfrost in front of her (because it wouldn't be ivypool if it wasn't ptsd)

but i think the appeal for him with her was that (in this narrative) he was the only one who was unconditionally kind to her and understood what she was going through. we know literally nothing about his family so i like to imagine he's got some weird dramatic backstory or family drama like she has, and they bond over it while training.

i also feel like this idea also adds a layer to ivypool being so pissed that dovewing got to leave thunderclan to be with her mate in shadowclan. she wanted that to be her and hollowflight and it's just another thing that she feels like dovewing holds above her (spoiler: dovewing still did nothing wrong in this story ivy is just deeply mentally ill (affectionate))

i suppose to talk about some of the lyrics, i think that ivypool became a drypaw after hollowflight's death. as it is with crossclan riverclan relationships, i think he taught her how to swim (on top of what she learned in the dark forest) and maybe catch fish, and now she can't stand the thought of swimming, both for the reminder of that gross sludgy dark forest water and of her old friend.

i'm gonna start with slugcats! my old guide from 2023 is here.

Note: "slugcat" refers to multiple species (slugcats are in a species complex). It can be hard to differentiate slugcat species, since some are very similar and hybridization between them is common where their ranges overlap. The species that Monk and Survivor are members of is called the "common slugcat."

Slugcats are weird sorta-feline creatures that walk bipedally and have little hands. Their average height is 3'3" or about 1 meter tall.

Their basic body shape is a round head on top of a trapezoidal body. Their legs are digitigrade, they have human-like arms (that are often skinny lol), and their tails are thick and tapering. Slugcats also have retractable arms ig??? I have no idea how that would work

In terms of head shape, it's similar to a cat's, but with a somewhat taller forehead (bigger brain! more room for being Smart!). Slugcats usually have short muzzles, big eyes, and long ears.

Note: slugcat arms usually rest in front of the body (think meerkats) rather than to the sides like a human.

Uhhh I like giving slugcats dewlaps (rabbit dewlaps are a good reference)!

And for fat slugcats, fat is usually stored in the tail (and dewlap) first. So naturally my gourmand has a big tail and a big dewlap :]

And!! I like to think that some slugcats have fur, and some don't. Hairless slugcats are slimy; furred slugcats have oily, waterproof coats. Some shorthaired slugcats have smooth fur like otters and seals do.

TEEFS!!! Except technically, slugcats don't have teeth. Rather, they have sharp, jagged beaks (think cephalopods). Their beaks continually grow and they are self-sharpening. Because their beaks are really sharp, slugcat bites are always serious injuries.

The length of their "fangs" varies by species. Some carnivorous species have long fangs, for example.

And! They have bristly tongues like cats (and kinda like the radula of a gastropod).

For their paws, slugcats have 3-fingered hands and feet. Their claws vary; some individuals have blunt claws, some have sharp claws, others have retractable claws, etc.

The inner toe of a slugcat's foot is opposable, making it easy for them to grab onto poles with their feet. (Compare to scavengers, who mostly use their arms to climb.)

Slugpups have different proportions than adults! Including having a bigger head, chubbier body, etc. Fluffy slugpups can also be a bit scraggly like longhaired kittens are.

My slugcats are basically egg-laying marsupials. They lay eggs, store them in their pouch, and then the eggs hatch into itty bitty babies. The babies stay in the pouch, feeding on milk until they're big enough to venture outside.

When pups are too big for the pouch, they ride on their parent's head or back. They also begin the process of weaning around this time, since by then they've started growing a sharp beak (i guess before that, their beak is dull and too small to self-sharpen?).

Note: some slugcat species are unisex and others are trioecious (having male, female, and unisex individuals).

For expressions, ears are important!!

Neutral: ears relaxed. The relaxed position varies by individual; some slugcats have their ears rest slightly tilted back, for example.

Alert/interested: ears perked up.

Angry: ears pinned back. Very angry slugcats have their ears positioned so they're almost in line with the top of the head.

Afraid: ears pinned down (sometimes slightly to the sides, too).

Sad: ears droop to the sides.

Slugcats mostly use their tails for balance, but they're used for some emotes too.

Upwards-curled tail is an excited or enthusiastic hello! Kinda like how some cats raise their tail when they see their human.

When upset, annoyed, or grumpy, slugcats may thump their tail against the ground (kinda like how rabbits stomp).

Some slugcats wag their tails when playing or excited. This isn't a universal thing, though.

Slugcats with fur may puff up their tail when startled or scared. They may also puff their tail when excited or playing, too.

…Do y’all think Dusknoir is naturally nocturnal?

Idk if it’s ever been mentioned in the Pokédex/series if ghost-types tend to be strictly nocturnal or are simply more active at night, but we’re going to hypothesize about the former real quick.

(Preemptively tagging @fujii-draws and @sincerely-sofie bc I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this!😊)

Concepts to consider:

Dusknoir being eepy in the daytime, therefore he zones out or dozes off if he’s not actively doing anything. I bet he still floats like horses fall asleep standing up. His eye just shuts and maybe he sags a little in place but other than that he looks like he’s just chilling. If he’s not careful he’ll nod off mid-conversation or mid-task if it’s rhythmic and/or muscle memory (thinking knitting or whittling or smth like that, although I’m not sure if he’d do either of those things specifically) since he would likely find such chores soothing in their monotony and tedium after All That™️.

It’s easier for him to stay awake when he’s in direct sunlight, but if he goes underground or catches a nice patch of shade he’s out like a light if he slows down long enough and is alone or with someone he trusts if they’re not busy. I can easily see him taking naps under trees leaned up against their trunks like this. (May or may not have a sketch of this very idea too…🤫)

Overall just imagining this big old ghost just kind of acting lethargic and even a little lazy if he gets to the place where he allows himself to be; floating around like a balloon in a gentle wind, conducting chores or running errands around town or w/e. Obviously he’d be more alert while exploring, but when he’s in rest mode he’ll probably try to take it easy to conserve energy.

Now for the flip side: night comes around and suddenly he’s Awake™️. He visibly perks up and gets more energetic, his movements quicker and more precise and his eye bright and attentive. He gets Ghost Zoomies and I’m sure the others would think it’s strange at first. It might take them a while to get used to it.

Mayhaps his instinctive nature would come out to play and he might even be a bit mischievous. Maybe he likes to Shadow Sneak around and spook his friends—an innocent, (mostly) harmless little game he honestly cannot recall the last time he played. Maybe they eventually start playing tag with him to see who can catch him in his more agile state. (I think Grovyle might enjoy this most once they both get past the trauma of Dusknoir being incorporeal and thus immune to attack chasing Grovyle. He’s so quick on his feet that I think they’d be fairly even matched, and I can see them totally being competitive and keeping score. Celebi would even add more fun to the mix being able to fly.)

Overall he’s just in a better mood. He’s concealed in the darkness and explores without as much worry about running into someone unsavory.

(Perhaps this is why he was so powerful in the future—perpetual darkness acts as a poor imitation of the darkest, longest night, after all. Maybe he has to readjust in the healed timeline since he’s never had to deal with daylight for extended periods of time. Maybe he gets a little weaker but he considers it a fair trade for his new and gentler lease on life.)

Im back in my Total Drama era guys, which means more TDTWOTI stuff 🤯

For those who are new to my blog, TDTWOTI is my Total Drama werewolf AU, short for Total Drama: The Wolves of the Island. I've been developing this AU with the help of my friend @pocket-pal since 2021! Im working on it every time I get back into Total Drama, and decided to make some doodles tonight!

Initially the story is about Mike finding out Heather is a werewolf by mistake, but she just wants revenge on the werewolf that infected her. They find out Alejandro did it, and realize there's a whole werewolf CHAIN on the island. It's up to them and a few others to find out who the other werewolves (and werebeasts in general) are.

Heather and Alejandro are the *main* main werewolves of the AU, but adding more into the mix is always fun. Julia will probably be an antagonist in the series and a werewolf too bc werewolf yuri?? Yes please. (I hate her werewolf design rn Im gonna make it better in the future but it's like two in the morning for me rn)

I love drawing Zee's werewolf design even though I didn't even make it for TDTWOTI. I made it for something completely different lmao. But now Im considering adding him in

Top right: Mimire Nitely, Sylph of Mind, age 4 sweeps. Just an eepy lil fella. Their lusus is a giant koala that they tend to cling to while napping. If their lusus is unavailable they'll cling to their neighbour, Mianya, instead. Mianya doesn't really mind seeing as she was half raised by the same lusus and feels that she owes them a debt.

Bottom left: Skippy Barnes, Prince of Life, age 6.5 sweeps. Possibly my oldest troll oc. He thinks its stupid that only purple bloods can be subjugglators and chose to act like one himself. Luckily for him the purple bloods hes met so far have found him entertaining and have allowed him to keep playing along.

Bottom right: Reinir Langon, Rogue of Time, age 8 sweeps. She has the ability to mess with people's short term memory if she can make direct eye contact with them. She often ends up using her ability to get her partner out of trouble, though thats not to say she never ends up in trouble herself. She tends to enjoy the soft and cozy things in life, even if she has to use unorthodox means to acquire them.
