#Idukki district is a densely forested, mountainous region in the #southIndian state of #Kerala. In the north, #Anamudi mountain towers over #Eravikulam National Park, where the rare, #blueNeelakurinji flower blooms every 12 years. Nearby, #Munnar is a hill station known for its sprawling tea plantations and Tea Museum. South Africa - Post #5 Garden Route
Day 4
Addo Elephant Park:
They say that the early bird gets the worm, right? So, after waking up at 04 am to go to this famous park, our expectations were quite high, which is usually not a good thing when you’re going to see wild animals, as mother nature is unpredictable.
You can either drive yourself inside the park using the main roads or hire one of those adapted cars - ours was a Hilux - with a Ranger. The advantage of doing the second one is, besides getting comments from a park guide, is that you can get much closer to the animals as they can drive in between the bushes.
We actually did both things and I'm so glad: It was an awesome experience and the bird indeed got the worm =)! Even though it was raining and super cold (yes, you can feel cold in Africa!) We still enjoyed it a lot, as for the animals, let the pictures speak for themselves.
Funny thing I’ve learned there: Carnivores sleep a lot to save energy for the hunting, so look how sleepy the poor lions were. Now, with the Herbivorous is where it gets interesting, they have to eat all day long, in average an Elephant eats around 250 kgs a day!!! That´s why in our pictures the lions are usually just lying there, if not sleeping at all, and the hungry big guys are always chewing their way around.

Afterwards, we drove a lot to get to Jeffrey's bay - a big surfing point - and then to our hostel in Mossel bay - where the Portuguese first set foot in South Africa in 1488.
