Eito’s disorder is really interesting to talk about. A lot of it is dependent on what people personally get out of it, and that personal spin makes it honestly kinda hard to talk about without getting feelings involved.
Like, my own struggles with chronic pain lead me to a more “Id eradicate it if I could” mentality that I see reflected in Eito that I vibe with. But I see others that find that kind of thinking bad because they view it more along the lines of something to accept and accommodate rather than seek to get rid of. Think of the broad ways we talk about mental illness vs neurodivergence. And because those avenues of thinking are based in lived experience usually, it’s hard to “argue” with an interpretation without it seeming personal.
In reality, there usually isn’t a straight up cure and so the accommodation route is more realistic in that sense. But idk, I don’t necessarily think it’s ableist or internalized ableism on Eito’s part that he wants his disorder gone either. It’s a very close to home feeling. It’s the age old “normalcy is a construct designed around productivity and the status quo but also id still have chronic pain in an ‘ideal utopia’ that I’d still probably want gone.” predicament. But that’s still a reading of his disorder very much influenced by my own life.
So I don’t begrudge or even disagree with other readings that are different. As I said, I just find it all very interesting.
#100 line#the hundred line#100 line spoilers#eito aotsuki#there’s a lot of disclaimers I could make but I think I’m gonna post as-is and hope people read this in good faith#if it’s not obvious I struggle with both mental and physical disabilities (+neurdivergence) so. if you need credentials or whatever#but as always the breadth of human experience is vast and unique and beautiful so people are going to have conflicting wants and needs

The fact people pit science against "experience" is a logical failure because experience is based on selective memory and personal bias. Pinning science as "largely flawed studies" and your personal anecdotes as facts is a laughably stupid take.
#Like don't get me wrong there are people like veterinarians who lack experience and don't know certain things#But them being wrong doesn't mean the science is wrong#It means they don't understand the science#You'd be surprised how many vets spout this very attitude#There's a difference between someone disregarding experience over credentials by default or vice versa and someone being blatantly incorrec#It's important to have some amount of both experience and education from an academic source#That's not to say it has to be higher education rather just an understanding of up to date research#That's why doctors do residencies#Those two things are supposed to be harmonious not mortal enemies#If you think they need to be pitted against eachother maybe it's time to consider why you think that way

I do get it for elementary education, where we explicitly aim to develop some baseline knowledge and skills in everyone. but it seems blatantly obvious to me that the function of getting a university degree is not, for all but a tiny bunch of weirdos, some high-minded pursuit of self-edification: it is, very basically, a thing you do to get a job. so it's like. "we were kind of hoping to sneak some learning in through the employment siloing program, but it seems we can no longer make the kids write essays about shakespeare using the threat of poverty. tragic." like maybe it is a personal and societal loss if people don't develop those skills, but that was a pretty silly route to begin with.
#half baked#education#at least the people concerned about the quality of assessment in relation to hiring are honest#the people concerned about someone wasting their opportunity to learn or depriving their soul or whatever are in denial#if people were so invested in learning there are SO many resources available to a person today#hell most of the content of any degree is probably available in some free mooc#if that's what people were there for you'd see very different uptake ratios.#they're there for the credential simple as this has been true for a long time#you might as well talk about wasting the opportunity to experience the depths of formalwear#when someone is buying a suit for their job interview

i feel bad for obnoxious tlou game fans that won't bother with the tv show because i do think it is a decent adaptation. of course i have some things to pick out from but the start of s2 has me excited..? dina being part of a construction crew and having a friendly relationship with joel is so wholesome. we don't get to know her like that in game actually we don't see her and joel interact at all and it is so well done to see more to her character. to the point that joel says she is the only one that treats him like a human, where he feels like she is his daughter but she's not, implying he sees that ellie is (which is shut down by the therapist like girl f*ck you!)
joel being in therapy might be the craziest? most interesting? part in his newly written character development. he wants to understand his emotions and how he can better things with ellie. there's a lot to unpack with that whole scene at gail's home and i'm kinda scared to see what else will be revealed (eugene...)
#my credentials: fan of tlou since the first game released#tlou#the last of us#i love dina!!!!#in my experience i only rly got to appreciate her when she joins ellie in the hunt#text

wip wed (xiyao sci-fi AU)
I was reminded of an angsty Landroid (™️@esmeblaze) drabble that I wanted to write a while ago... It got significantly longer than a drabble overnight, so I guess it’s a wip.
>_
“What happened in Gusu?”
Lan Xichen regards him calmly, his glass eyes opaque in the shade. “I was ordered to leave the battlefield to save myself and the information I carry.” He purses his lips in a most realistic manner. Meng Yao could almost think him a lost young man of flesh and blood if he didn't look too closely. “Leaving… was logical, but it did not seem like the soundest choice at the time. I am still trying to process it.”
Go figure these Lan droids have a moral engine so advanced that they get wrapped up in guilt much like humans do. “I could work out the knots manually,” Meng Yao suggests, daringly. “If you’ll let me… access your code. I understand if that seems–”
“You may.”
“Really? It's just that… you just said you were carrying very important information.”
“If you wanted to copy my data banks you could have already done so when I was offline,” Lan Xichen says simply, “so I see no harm in giving you access now.”
Without waiting for a response, he folds himself into a kneel in front of his bunk bed, his back to Meng Yao; he tilts his head backwards so his synthetic hair drapes on Meng Yao’s lap like the fabled silk of old, and proffers the port behind his ear to plug into.
“I cannot guarantee I can do a perfect job,” Meng Yao murmurs, grabbing his gloves and visor. “I am no alliance engineer.”
“You are all I have,” Lan Xichen says, then adds, after a moment: “And I do not mean that in a disparaging manner. I appreciate anything you can do to get me back into fighting shape.”
#wip wednesday#shiome wip#<-For muting purposes#Xiyao#Lan xichen#Meng yao#jin Guangyao#mdzs wip#this was supposed to be 500 words but it is now 4000. smh#digging out my robotfucking credentials#(14 years of experience)

My totally professional opinion of the new Linkin Park album:
A lot better than I was worried!
With the first single I was like, yes this is good, she's got the range for their old songs and some of the same vocal character as Bennington, but she's clearly not trying to be him.
Second single I was kinda,.hm, this is nice but not super strong maybe it works better in the album and it really really does
Still so so on the third single, for me
The album isn't all winners but with LP they've never been all winners but all exploring something and I think that's been maintained. Definitely gonna listen to it a few hundred more times just to check
#from zero#my professional credentials are i drive for a living so listen to so much music all the time#definitely like it#the individual tracks are probably gonna grow on me as I experience emotions and situations that are appropriate to them

trying to stay fed with only the money i get from art commissions is actually so fucking rough like all the business i was getting instantly died once my June sale ended. i have 8 cents left and am surviving on crackers and poptarts.
#weed screams#i literally got nearly $400 last month. $300 of it was spent on groceries. groceries for ME ALONE.#tbh I'd probably be fine rn if i hadn't bought tickets to see Kikuo....#but I've never been to a concert before and he's literally my favorite artist. i want to experience something for ONCE.#wait i forgot i have to factor in money i spend on stuff for my cat.#so yeah it costs me like around $300 a month to keep me and Ham taken care of.#last month i met that goal bc of my big sale. i don't usually make even HALF of what i got then.#comms outside of sales come very rarely for me :( it makes it really hard to um. survive.#im glad food and cat stuff are my only usual expenses though. if i had to worry about rent I'd be DOOMED.#sometimes i wonder like ''why don't i just get an actual job?'' and then i remember im a disabled high school dropout 🙃#these days even ppl with GREAT credentials are struggling with unemployment so what are my fucking chances???? slim to none.#the economy is in shambles

do i have some kind of fascinatingly unusual temperament or is one of the world's little asymmetric tragedies that everyone in the audience of an information session wants to immediately get to the novel, actionable information, and yet everyone speaking at an information session believes the audience requires a series of personal anecdotes about why each person involved in this issue got involved and cares about it before they will be willing to recieve the information that they came to the talk to receive
#me‚ bitchily: why isn't everything an information-dense lecture#you could save so much time if you gave me a purely factual summary of your credentials#instead of explaining that you have a deeply personal connection to the issue of severe pharmaceutical price hikes.#box opener#ok now they're giving us specific examples and information and i look like a dick who hates when people tell us about their sons and/or#personal organizing experience. oh well.

thinking about the super calm scary ed in s2e2, and how in line his behaviour is with the common change in behaviour of suicidal people - when someone struggles with depression and then you notice a sudden shift in their mood, sudden calmness as if all their problems have been solved or erased, it can mean they've made their decision. and what comes right before ed's calmness is a) izzy's attempt at intervention and ed's subsequent loss of his first mate (however you interpret it) and b) the rough night where we see him drop the little figurines representing stede and him to the sea.
just thinking about it.
#ofmd#our flag means death#not a psychology expert but i do have some experience in depression if you want credentials lmao👌👌🤡
