☆ WIP WEDNESDAY ☆
Tagged by the lovely @theoneandonlysemla to share a WIP! Thank you!
Tagging... @vervayyn @umbracirrus @sheirukitriesfandom @juniperberries-canisroot @pocket-vvardvark and @labskeever! If you have WIPs to share whether it's art, writing, crafts, or any other creative work.
This week I decided to share a bit of the next chapter of Ascent from the Ashes. Context for those who haven't read or caught up, Wren was recently injured, badly, and is currently unable to move around much and is stuck in her house, and she's going nuts. Thankfully, she has someone to help take care of her and make things a little more exciting :) I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort, especially when it comes to Wren and Teldryn.
Also, Nerevarine!Teldryn gifting her a book that touches on the Nerevarine prophecy?! He hasn't come clean about who he is at this point yet, so whyyyy is he doing that? HMMMMM? Don't mind me, just building the suspense 😈
“There you are,” Wren greeted as [Teldryn] stepped inside. She didn’t sound terribly pleased, nor did she look it, slouched groggily among the furs in her bed like a bear who’d just been roused from hibernation. “Who the fuck was at the door?”
“Nice to see you’re awake,” he fired back, skirting her question. “Did you sleep well?”
“I was, ‘til some jackass decided to start pounding. Who was it?”
“Courier.”
Her expression softened a bit, and her gaze fell upon his hands. “A courier? Something for me?”
“Yep.” He approached her and handed the scroll over, where she took it and eyed it with vague interest before setting it aside on her bedside table, unopened. “And this, too,” he added, setting the bag from the market next to her. “The letter was from the courier, but this is from yours truly.”
Wren looked at the bag, and then up at him, her brows knitted in mild confusion. “You got me something? What is it? Why?”
“Well, I've seen how unhappy you are, being hurt and stuck in your house and all, so I thought I’d bring you a few gifts to lighten things up. And as for what it is, why don’t you open it and find out?”
Hesitantly, she began to untie the bag, but once she caught a glimpse of what was inside, her eyes lit up and she smiled before dumping its contents into her lap—a couple of small bottles, two books, and an odd-shaped item wrapped in parchment and tied with string. She held the wrapped item to her face and gave it a sniff, her smile growing even wider. Judging from the hungry look in her eyes, he figured she knew exactly what it was.
“Is this…?” She loosened the parcel’s string and unwrapped it to reveal a honey nut treat, freshly baked from Bersi's shop. Without hesitation, she plucked one of the sticky bits from its skewer and popped it into her mouth, chewed happily, then sat the treat aside. Next, she inspected one of the bottles. Healing potions, their corks stamped with a unique symbol from the town apothecary. He had requested they be made special, with a pleasant taste rather than the usual bitterness, yet still strong enough to do its job of mending her body and dulling any pains.
After uncorking one of the bottles and downing its contents (which he noted did not cause her to flinch or gag, so that was a success), Wren moved on to the books. She held one in each hand, studying their covers with sharp eyes.
“Huh. The Song of Pelinal.” She waggled the tome at him with a scowl. “You got me a book about the man who was hellbent on killing every Elf on Nirn? You… you realize that’s us, right?”
Teldryn held back a chuckle. “There weren’t many books to choose from, it was either that one or Alduin Is Real, and I gave that one a quick flip through. Looked like it was written by a five-year-old. Believe me, you wouldn’t like it.”
She looked at the other book, a fine piece bound in dyed green leather with embossed golden lettering on its cover. “Nerevar Moon-and-Star. Can’t say I’ve read this one before.”
“It’s quite a read,” he noted. “I hope you enjoy it.”

"I thought I told you to quit following me!" Despite the bite in words, the wanderer does not hasten his pace through the market, nor make an attempt to slip away, rather he pulls the brim of his hat downwards and continues on at the set pace. Perhaps in part some of his caution is due to the parcel tucked under his arm, a delicately wrapped book that he is not yet ready to dive into but could not resist the urge to purchase, but mostly perhaps, it is because he has become accustom to the way the other dogs his footsteps, and is perhaps, begrudgingly, content to allow him in his space.
It has been a long time since the one once known as Scaramouche, now merely Hat Guy, has felt comfortable with another wanting to be closer. But there's a small urge here to be brave once more, no matter how many betrayals have scarred his soul.
"Haven't you got a temple to be running? What are you even doing in the city?" he huffs, despite continuing to initiate conversation as they weave through the streets. He's become accustom to them, knowing where to push through and where to dodge the crowds, where its vital to wait and where speed is your best friend. It's almost like belonging.
"Don't tell me you finally got pulled into that infernal card game craze that you were criticising the General Mahamatra for? Did his sad expression convince you to give it a try or was it for a brief reprieve from the awful jokes?"
Ah, now that’s a tone he’s quite familiar with ! That was just how it was with hat-guy, derision may lace his tone turning it acrid but if one looked close enough they might see the invitation that lay beneath. Now, it might be a little presumptuous for Sethos to believe that he had some inexplicable insight into the enigma that paced just a few strides ahead of him but, when it came down to it, most people were expeditiously fended off the moment he deigned to speak to them. Unfortunately for him, Sethos wasn’t the sort of person who was so conveniently dissuaded. As the crowd surges around them, people with destinations on their mind and trajectory etched into their steps, Sethos remains bathed in his shadow, arms stretched and bowed behind his head; an image of insouciance.
Sethos wasn’t the only one who was a little too perceptive, after all, the moment he was penetrated by those hostile eyes all of his secrets were laid bare. Well, they weren’t really secrets, more like intentions, when someone could cast a perfunctory glance and discern that much it really made them a formidable opponent; someone to keep your eyes on. If asked he would say it’s intrigue, a compelling argument, after all, many who rose through the ranks in the akademiya did so to satiate that very impulse. However, there were quiet moments when he felt like he had gleaned something new from his disgruntled companion, something that urged his eyes to linger a little longer, soon to behold something that would be worth all of that forbearance. “ Ah, you caught me slacking off.” It’s an effortless response, rolls pleasantly off the tongue, accompanied by a similarly easy grin. “ You won’t tell the others will you ? They might not be too happy catching me hanging out with you when I should be tending to really important temple stuff.” A hand rose, surrender, willingly given too, after all how could he go about denying the General Mahamatra when it came to things like that. Earnest wasn’t exactly the word he would have chosen, try ━ intimidating. There were only so many times one could be pinned beneath his fervid gaze before they too found themselves eager to capitulate. “ Now, I wouldn’t go callin’ it pulled into, more like, I was convinced, it wasn’t an effortless feat either, really, you should be commending him for his efforts.” With that his eyes inevitably flit down to the parcel the hat-guy has furtively tucked beneath his arm, something he didn’t want others seeing ? or something he didn’t want Sethos in particular seeing ? Now that was a source of intrigue that even those in the most exalted positions would have to take a scholarly interest in; such a meticulous display of caution. “ Found something that caught your eye, huh ?” Now he was at his side, matching his strides pace for pace, gaze again flitting down to the delicately wrapped, vaguely booked shaped parcel, and back to his eyes, expectant. “ Are you gonna wait for me to ask about it ?” another grin, utterly effervescent.
#the way wanderer asks him a bunch of stuff and he breezily circumvents answering by saying SOME stuff in return#he doesn't want to admit that the joke thing was slowly making his lungs turn inside out from laughing too hard#that would be embarrassing !#﹙ ᶦⁿ ᶜʰᵃʳᵃᶜᵗᵉʳ ﹚ ✕ 𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐒.#resolutepath

Ensemble - Rayla Heide
The plump belly of the Rising Howl looms before me, churning with its endless gears and elaborate ironwork. Some say the Howl is named for the wrought iron wolf that cries atop the apex of the hexdraulic descender; others swear the ghost of a black-veiled gentle-servant haunts the cabin, and when the Howl lifts him away from his lost love in Zaun, the sounds of his moans reverberate and shake its metal core. Many Piltovans, convinced as they are in their own sound judgment, are sure the name refers to nothing more than the cold wind whistling between the crevasses below their city.
But to me the Howl is not a single lone cry. It is an orchestra of noise, a melodic blend of a thousand unique sounds. It is why I am drawn to the machine.
The multi-tiered elevator, supported by three vertical structural beams which span the height of the city, descends to the Promenade level and slows to a lurching halt.
“Disembark for the Promenade!” the conductor announces, her voice magnified by a bell-shaped sonophone. She adjusts her thick goggles as she speaks. “Boundary Markets, College of Techmaturgy, Horticultural Center.”
Passengers pour from the descender. Dozens of others board and spread throughout its floors: merchants traveling to Zaun to trade in the night bazaars, workers returning home to sleep, wealthy Zaunites visiting night blooms in glass-domed cultivairs. Then there are the unseen riders who have made the Howl their home. I spy them scurrying in the shadows: plague rats, shadowhares, and viridian beetles.
Sometimes I climb down the crevasses to descend to the Sump, but tonight I long for the harmony of noise I know the descender will create.
Instead of entering through the doorway, I swing around the outside and lock my grip on the bottommost bar where ridged steel brackets frame the glass windows. My metal plates clank as I clamber onto the Howl, drawing stares from the passengers and what looks like a grimace from the conductor. My knowledge of facial expressions grows each day.
Most passengers ride within the compartment, away from the cold and soot, but outside, in the open air, I can hear the satisfying click-clack of mechanical parts snapping into place and the soft hiss of steam releasing as we sink into Zaun. And besides, I don’t easily fit through most doors.
A small boy clings to his sump-scrapper father’s hand and gapes at me through the window. I wink at him and his mouth opens in what I estimate is surprise. He ducks behind his father.
“Going down!” says the conductor. She rings a large bell and adjusts the dials on a bright red box. I can almost feel the commands buzz as they surge through wires into the descender’s engine.
Below us, the iron pinnacles of Zaun’s towers and green glass cultivairs glitter like candles in the dimming light. The Howl whirs and creaks as its cranks spiral down against the three towering beams, weighted down with iron, steel, and glass. A blast of steam whistles from the topmost pipe.
Inside the cabin, the sump-scrapper and his child look on as a musician tunes his four-stringed chittarone and begins a sonorous melody. His tune synchronizes with the clacking gears and whirring machinery of the Howl. The father taps his foot to the rhythm. A beetle snaps her pincers as she scrambles away from the man’s heavy boot. A gang of chem-punks lean against the wall in soft repose, a pause so unlike their usual frenzied jaunts through the city.
The Howl whirs in its perfect fusion of sounds during our descent. I marvel at the symphony around me and find myself humming along to the deep buzzing tones. The rhythm thrums through me and I wonder if those around me feel it.
“Entresol!” the conductor calls out as the descender slows. A pair of couriers carrying parcels wrapped in twine disembark, along with a crew of chemtech researchers and a crowd of chem-merchants. A merry crowd of Zaunites from the theater district steps aboard.
“Down we go!” she says, ringing her bell, and the Howl responds with a whir. The descender sinks and the windows mist as vapor pours from pipes above. Beads of water spread across my metallic chest as the harmony of clanking machinery and whooshing steam begins anew.
A discordant murmur interrupts the pattern of sounds. The vibration is subtle, but I can tell something is off. The descender continues as if all was normal, until a jarring clunk breaks its perfect rhythm.
Though I have never dreamed, I know a break in the pattern this abrupt is a machine’s most frightening nightmare.
The spiralling gearway is jammed, and the cabin’s iron brackets grate against it with a horrible screech. Many lives are at stake and I feel the machine’s pain as it braces desperately against the support beams. The entire weight of the Howl heaves against its bending columns and the cabin tilts at a lurching angle. Rivets burst from their seams as metal is pulled away from itself.
We wobble for a moment, then drop.
Inside the cabin, passengers scream and grasp at the nearest railing as they plunge. This is a different kind of howl.
I tighten my hold on the cabin’s bottommost platform. I extend my other arm, launching it toward one of the three vertical structural beams. The iron column is slippery in the mist and my grip misses it by inches. I retract my arm and steam blasts from my back as I try again, whizzing it toward a second beam. Another miss.
Time slows. Inside the cabin, the chem-punks cling to a ledge while the viridian beetle flies out an open window. The sump-scrapper and his child brace themselves against the glass, which fractures under their weight. The boy tumbles out, scrabbling at the frame with his fingers before he slips and falls.
I reach up and catch the boy in mid-flight, then retract my arm.
“Hold on,” I say.
The child clings to the plates on my back.
I fire my arm up toward the support beam once more, and this time my hand meets solid metal with a resounding clang as I secure my hold. My other arm is forced to extend as it’s wrenched down by the plunging cabin, so much that I feel my joints might fracture. Suspended in midair, I try to steady my grip.
With a great jolt, my arm jerks as the descender halts its freefall. It shakes from the sudden stop, now supported only by my arm. The boy shudders as he tightens his grip on my back.
The Howl is still fifty feet above the ground, hovering over the Sump-level buildings. My overlapping metal plates groan as they strain against the weight and I concentrate all my efforts on holding myself together. If I fall, the Howl falls with me, along with all its passengers.
While locking my arm onto the support beam, I slide my arm down the pillar. We drop ten feet and the cabin sways precariously before stabilizing again.
“Sorry about that!” I shout. Statements of empathy can be reassuring to humans in moments of crisis.
I must try again. I must be strong.
I release my grip on the support column ever so slightly, and with a piercing screech we gently slide down the remaining forty feet to the ground. My valves sigh as they contract.
Passengers echo my sighs as they stumble through the doors and broken windows into the Sump level, leaning on each other for support.
The boy on my back breathes rapidly as he holds my neck. My arms whir as I retract them and lower myself to the floor, crouching down so the child can touch the ground. He scrambles back to his father, who embraces him.
The conductor emerges from the descender and looks at me.
“You saved us. All of us,” she says, her voice shaking from what I think is shock. “Thank you.”
“I am simply fulfilling my purpose,” I say. “I am glad you are not hurt. Have a good day.”
She smiles, then turns to direct the crowd of Zaunites who have gathered to offer their assistance to the passengers and begin repairs. One of the chem-punk girls carries the musician’s chittarone for him as he crawls from the descender. Several of the theater-folk comfort an elderly man.
Two Hex-mechanics stumble toward me and I direct them to a medical officer who is setting up a tented repair station. The murmurs of the passengers and the hissing groans of the wounded descender blend with the whirrs and churning of the Sump. The steam-engine within my chest murmurs along, and I am moved to whistle a tune.
The boy turns and waves shyly at me.
I wave back.
He runs to catch up with his father, his heavy boots tapping a rhythm on the cobblestones. Shifting wheels sing and gears click-clack within the belly of the Rising Howl. The viridian beetle snaps her pincers in time with the beat as she zooms away into the Sump.

The dating market as seen through the eyes of a complete psychopath
Well folks, I've been seeing a lot of talk in right-wing media about a "dating crisis" sweeping America recently. Naturally they have the citations to back this up, those citations being random videos that they found on TikTok. So I figured we'd take a look at one of the guys talking about this epidemic and see what's going on here, lets get into it.
02:10, Matt Walsh: "In what has become something of a monthly tradition on social media, two videos have gone viral featuring young women distraught over their inability to find a man who they consider worthy of their time. A week ago it was this woman expressing her deep frustrations over this video, listen."
I figured who would be a better fit to educate us on this pressing issue than Matt Walsh? He's famous for being a guy who lets trans people live rent free in his head and works at a platform that restores your virginity the minute you open their website, surely he can tell us all we need to know about the dating scene.
Jokes aside, Matt Walsh citing some random woman's TikTok video as proof that the dating market has been ruined by women having professional lives is peak Daily Wire journalism.
Matt plays the TikTok and then tells on himself a little bit.
04:16, Matt Walsh: "Even though I may be, infamously, a Grinch whose heart is three times too small. Even I will say that I truly feel bad for this young lady and the loneliness she's experiencing. You'd have to be a sociopath to not feel bad for her and despite popular misconceptions I am not a sociopath."
Golly, I wonder what gave people that idea about you Matt. Guess that will just have to remain a mystery for the time being.
04:39, Matt Walsh: "She says that she's worked on herself, she's done everything she can to make herself desirable. Part of the problem of course is that some of the things she highlights will have no effect either way on making her more desirable to men. For instance, no man cares whether a woman is successful or independent. Like, there has never been a man in the history of the world who has left a first date and said 'Wow, she's great. She's so successful and independent'. Those are just not characteristics that a man is looking for, they certainly won't be at the top of his list."
Ok, Matt Walsh dating tip number one is "If you are a female be submissive to your male partner at any cost. They're not looking for success and independence after all". Nothing messed up there. If you think this is a distortion of Matt's words, I would like to point you towards a blog post he made in 2014 entitled "Your husband doesn’t have to earn your respect". Quote;
"This doesn’t mean that a man has a license to be lazy, or abusive, or uncaring. He is challenged to live up to the respect his wife affords him. If his wife parcels out her respect on some sort of reward system basis, the husband has nothing for which to strive. As the respect diminishes, so too does his motivation to behave respectably. Respect is wielded like a ransom against him, and he grows more isolated and distant all the while."
Basically, if you are a female and your husband is abusing you it's actually your fault because you weren't respecting him enough. A lot of his comments recently, including the one I just quoted above, show that Matt Walsh's views haven't changed that much since then. Matt plays another TikTok of a woman lamenting her relational struggles, recaps the TikTok for some reason and then decides to present more "evidence".
08:14, Matt Walsh: "Now, it's not just women having these problems obviously. In fact, one guy replied to this last video with his own story."
Matt Walsh should never be allowed to comment on things like the minimum wage again after this episode. The reason I say this is because it's becoming glaringly clear to me that Matt's job is just watching TikTok, reading the comments under those TikTok's and attempting to turn those videos and comments into a coherent argument.
09:10, Matt Walsh: "Now, by now we're all familiar with the statistics which we've talked about on the show many times. Fewer young adults are in relationships, few are getting married, few are having kids, more of them are remaining single than ever before while people of all ages report record levels of loneliness."
It is true that we are experiencing a loneliness epidemic but the causes for this are a lot more complicated than what Matt Walsh thinks they are. According to an article written by psychology professor Susan Dugan for the University Of Denver, a lot of it is caused by people unable to manage their work-life balance and increased reliance on social media. Due to the increased reliance on social media, especially because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people have became overly reliant on things like texting as opposed to seeing people in person.
Dugan also writes that one of the biggest things causing the loneliness epidemic is an overly-work oriented culture and people using their spare time to get more work done as opposed to spending time forming meaningful relationships. Now, I wonder what Matt Walsh, a guy who thinks that social security should be abolished and that the best solution to a low minimum wage is to "just stop being on the minimum wage", would have to say about dismantling a workplace culture focused around toxic productivity.
09:26, Matt Walsh: "A Pew analysis published in 2021 found that nearly 40% of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 are quote on quote unpartnered. And by that they mean these are people that are living without a spouse or a live in boyfriend or girlfriend."
If Matt actually did some research into what he's talking about instead of just skimming hed's and dek's he'd find the percentage of single Americans looking for a relationship or casual dates has decreased massively since 2019 with 58% reporting that they aren't interested in a relationship or even casual dating. Also, 40% is a scary number that Matt can use to freak out his audience but it's still the minority but I guess that's something that Matt's just going to ignore because his main solution is "just get married" (despite marrying young statistically leading to divorce but we'll get to that).
10:05, Matt Walsh: "So, what's going on? Um, there are several major factors, some of them I've discussed before but lets lay them out again in one list."
I can help Matt Walsh by compiling some of the things he's discussed in the past into a helpful list.
Factor #1: We don't just force people to marry each other
Factor #2: We don't force sixteen year old girls to get married because that's when they're "technically most fertile"
10:15, Matt Walsh: "First of course, many people are just waiting too long to get serious about getting married. The lie that my generation was sold and that the next generation after mine was also sold is that your 20's, the first decade of adulthood, is a time to be aimless and lazy and selfish and focused primarily on recreation and pleasure."
What universe is Matt Walsh even living in? Most people in their 20's are either in college or are looking for work, often due to them having to pay off large amounts of student debt from said college. If Matt wants more people to get married and have kids at a young age than he should support things like student debt relief that help make that lifestyle more affordable for young people.
According to a 2023 survey, 73% of Gen Z and millennial couples say that getting married is simply too expensive in todays economy.
Ok, so Matt Walsh factor #1 is pretty stupid if you do even the most basic research like "actually meeting somebody in their 20's". Matt's second point is that there are too many choices, fair enough, that's probably the most respectably true thing he's said this entire episode and society would be better off if Matt would just quit while he's ahead and end the video here. His third point though is just "why don't we just put traditional gender roles from the 50's back?!"
12:33, Matt Walsh: "And third, at a much deeper level, people are very confused and we've lost the basic understanding of what dating is for in the first place. Worse, we've lost any understanding of what men and women are for and what our roles are supposed to be. If we even talk about roles as it relates to men and women it's considered outrageous and offensive somehow."
So, a very verbose way of saying "get back in the kitchen", got it. Should I be taking notes for this?
13:08, Matt Walsh: "Think again about that woman in the first video highlighting her professional achievements. If she understood what men wanted she would instead highlight herself as a kind and affectionate woman who knows how to cook and take care of her man."
You thought I was exaggerating in that last bit of text didn't you?
14:09, Matt Walsh: "Four, this may be the biggest factor but the institutions that once facilitated matchmaking have completely broken down. Have been mostly abandoned or have simply stopped performing those functions."
Citation needed there Matt, no you can't cite your feelings.
14:21, Matt Walsh: "How were people matched up in the past? Well, for most of history families would arrange the matches. That's no longer the case, at least not in the west."
So, Matt still wants arranged marriages to be a thing in America, cool. In a strange stroke of coincidence, arranged marriages would strip women of their autonomy and right to choose which is what Matt was oh so subtly hinting at wanting in factor #3 and has historically espoused wanting even more blatantly in the past. Probably a coincidence.
14:30, Matt Walsh: "And so if the families not doing it, well churches used to play a major role in connecting young people with each other but most young people don't even go to church regularly so that no longer happens."
Yes Matt, that's why cultures that don't practice Christianity are sterile cultures where nobody marries ever. Seriously, we went from kind of stupid to misogynistic to extremely stupid (and still misogynistic) in the span of five minutes.
By the way, Matt Walsh met his wife on eHarmony so his stupid ass argument doesn't even apply to his own lived experience. But yeah, everyone else can only meet women through the church and arranged marriages.
14:38, Matt Walsh: "And if you don't have the family or the church, you've cut out the two institutions that used to be primarily in charge of this kind of thing, you've thrown them out then who's helping single people find each other? The workplace was sort of the third option and never the best place to facilitate romantic relationships but now it's even worse. HR regulations make it a risky proposition for a man to try to initiate any kind of romantic relationship with a co-worker and with more and more people working from home your co-workers may be thousands of miles away in any case."
So, the only alternative to church and arranged marriages is for men to sexually harass women in the workplace. Too bad those pesky HR regulations get in the way of that.
Ok, I’ve had enough “learning” from Matt Walsh for one lifetime.
Conclusion:
Well, that's was the stupidest take on the dating market that I've ever heard. I'm starting to realize that "What is a Woman?" might have actually been a genuine question because Matt Walsh clearly has no idea what women want outside of "they should be my personal slave".
I guess the takeaways here are that women don't understand their "roles" well enough and that the only possible places to meet a partner are the church and arranged marriages.
Cheers and I'll see you in the next one.

Linear cross-belt sorting machine helps accelerate sorting in logistics system
The linear cross belt sorting system is an efficient and intelligent sorting equipment, mainly used in logistics sorting in multiple fields such as express delivery and e-commerce. The system realizes efficient and accurate sorting of express parcels on the sorting track through software and hardware design. It is also the most mainstream sorting equipment on the market, compatible with a variety of parcel sizes.
Equipment features
Small footprint
The linear layout is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized logistics and express delivery industries, which can effectively solve the problem of limited storage area.
High sorting efficiency
The theoretical sorting efficiency of the equipment can reach 15,000 pieces/hour, with an accuracy rate of up to 99.99%.
Easy operation and high degree of automation
The loading operation is simple, and it can be manually loaded or automatically supplied.
Flexible configuration and wide range of use
The equipment can be customized according to the project situation, including the number of trolleys, the size and number of grids, etc. In addition, different types of parcels can be sorted.
Strong scalability
The Linear cross-belt sorting machine can be expanded according to customer needs to meet logistics needs of different scales.

Sorting process
The linear cross belt sorter manufacturing is an efficient and intelligent logistics sorting equipment with high sorting efficiency and low error rate. The sorting process includes the following steps: 1. Package loading The packages to be sorted are loaded automatically or manually. 2 Scanning code recognition Enter the scanning area, and the scanning system quickly and accurately reads the barcode information on the goods.
3.Package sorting After scanning the code, the package is transported to the designated sorting grid accurately through the operation of the continuous cart. 4.Real-time monitoring and adjustment During the entire sorting process, the system will monitor the operating status of each link in real time to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the sorting operation. At the same time, the system can also be adjusted and optimized according to the actual situation to adapt to different sorting needs and scenarios.
In recent years, whether it is the regulation of the healthy development of the express delivery industry by relevant departments’ policies or the need of express delivery companies to improve their competitiveness, they are guiding outlets at all levels to upgrade their structures, from curbing express price wars and improving the treatment of couriers to promoting automation transformation and promoting the automation rate of the entire network... This is the tacit understanding between national policies and express delivery companies in the era of tens of billions of parcels. With the implementation of the national "Express Delivery to Villages" project, more and more linear cross-belt sorting machines are used in the construction of county, township and village three-level logistics systems. gosunm has linear cross-belt sorting systems running in small and medium-sized logistics companies. There are currently about 50,000 to 60,000 express delivery terminal outlets across the country, but the ownership rate of automated equipment is not high. For most small and medium-sized outlets, circular cross-belt equipment obviously exceeds their own sorting needs. Therefore, linear equipment will become more and more popular.
The high efficiency, high accuracy and high flexibility of the linear cross-belt sorter enable it to provide economical and reliable intelligent logistics solutions for the express delivery industry. It is believed that with the popularization of the full-category cross-belt sorter, the sorting problems of sorting centers of major express delivery and e-commerce companies can be solved, and the operational efficiency will be greatly improved, accelerating the realization of intelligent transformation and upgrading. The linear cross-belt sorter has a small space and high efficiency, helping to accelerate the sorting of the logistics system!

E-commerce Shipping to Thailand: A Guide for Small Business Owners in Australia
Expanding your e-commerce business beyond borders is a bold and exciting move, especially when eyeing Southeast Asia. Among these markets, Thailand stands out with its growing digital economy, increasing online shoppers, and rising demand for international products. For small business owners in Australia, shipping to Thailand presents both an opportunity and a challenge. This guide will walk you through the essentials of e-commerce shipping to Thailand—from choosing the right courier to cutting down costs—ensuring smooth, efficient deliveries every time.
Why Thailand Is a Lucrative Market for Australian E-commerce
Thailand's e-commerce market has seen exponential growth over the last few years. With a digitally savvy population, increasing smartphone penetration, and an appetite for international goods, Thai consumers are looking globally for products. Australian businesses can meet this demand thanks to high-quality offerings, trusted brand perception, and geographical proximity.
Whether you're selling fashion, beauty products, electronics, or artisanal goods, the key lies in mastering logistics and understanding how to provide reliable and affordable shipping options.
Understanding the Basics of Shipping to Thailand from Australia
Before diving into the logistics, let’s cover what you need to know when shipping to Thailand from Australia:
1. Delivery Times
Depending on the shipping service you choose, parcels typically take:
3–5 business days with express services.
7–14 business days with economy or standard shipping.
It’s important to set accurate delivery expectations with your customers to avoid disputes and improve customer satisfaction.
2. Customs and Duties
Thailand has strict import regulations. Parcels valued over 1,500 THB (~AUD 60) may incur import duties or VAT. You must clearly state the value of goods on commercial invoices and ensure the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes are used.
Your courier service can help you with customs clearance, but as the sender, you’re responsible for providing accurate documentation.
Choosing the Right Courier Partner
For small business owners, selecting the right courier is crucial. You need a provider that offers reliability, affordability, and transparency.
Key factors to consider:
Real-time tracking: Essential for customer trust.
Insurance options: Especially if you’re shipping high-value items.
Experience in Thailand logistics: Helps avoid delays at customs.
Customer support: Responsive service can solve issues faster.
Recommended Courier Services:
DTDC Australia: Known for its reliability, DTDC offers tailored international shipping services and handles both express and economy deliveries. It is a top choice for cheap shipping from Australia to Thailand without compromising on service quality.
Australia Post International: A trusted name, though often more expensive.
DHL Express: Fast and professional, but premium-priced.
Tips for Cheap Shipping from Australia to Thailand
Finding the balance between cost and quality is essential for small businesses. Here are smart strategies to reduce your international shipping expenses:
1. Use a Courier Aggregator or Shipping Platform
Services like DTDC or third-party logistics platforms often offer discounted bulk shipping rates that you wouldn't get directly from major couriers.
2. Opt for Economy Services for Lightweight Parcels
Unless your product is time-sensitive, standard or economy shipping is a great way to keep costs down while maintaining reliability.
3. Consolidate Orders
If you’re sending multiple orders to the same region or customer, consolidate them into a single parcel to save on per-package charges.
4. Negotiate Shipping Rates
If you ship frequently, negotiate with your courier for discounted rates or consider volume-based pricing.
5. Use Correct Packaging Sizes
Shipping charges are calculated based on volumetric weight. Using right-sized packaging helps avoid unnecessary weight charges.
Product Categories That Ship Well to Thailand
Some categories are easier to ship and have higher demand among Thai buyers:
Fashion and apparel
Skincare and cosmetics
Natural health supplements
Eco-friendly household items
Australian gourmet foods (check for restrictions)
Before sending, check the latest Thailand import restrictions to ensure your product complies with local laws.
Preparing Your Parcel for International Shipping
Here are the best practices for preparing parcels to Thailand:
Include a Commercial Invoice: Required for customs clearance. Mention product descriptions, HS codes, and declared values accurately.
Use Protective Packaging: Protect your products from potential damage during transit.
Add Tracking Labels Clearly: Ensure labels are visible and weatherproof.
Insure Valuable Items: Consider insurance for high-ticket products.
Handling Returns and Customer Support
International returns can be costly. Clearly communicate your return policy on your website and consider these options:
Local Returns Partner: Tie up with a logistics partner in Thailand for managing returns locally.
Refund without Return: For low-cost items, it might be more cost-effective to refund without requiring the item to be shipped back.
Having a responsive customer support team to handle shipping issues or delivery concerns can go a long way in building trust with Thai customers.
Conclusion
Shipping to Thailand from Australia is no longer a complex, expensive task. With the right courier partner, careful planning, and a focus on customer satisfaction, small business owners can tap into Thailand’s growing e-commerce demand successfully.
Whether you’re looking for cheap shipping from Australia to Thailand or a premium, faster option, make sure your logistics are streamlined, and your product presentation is top-notch. With these steps in place, your e-commerce brand will be ready to go global—starting with Thailand.

The Role of Technology in Modern Courier Services
In the last two decades, courier services have undergone a massive transformation. What was once a manually driven industry relying heavily on paperwork, phone calls, and physical tracking has now become a technology-intensive sector. From automated tracking systems to real-time delivery updates, technology is reshaping how parcels move across cities, countries, and continents. This evolution is particularly visible in courier services in India, where a booming e-commerce sector and increasing global connectivity have spurred innovation like never before.
The Digital Shift in Courier Operations
The courier industry today is built on a foundation of digital infrastructure. One of the biggest changes has been the implementation of real-time tracking. No longer do customers have to wonder where their package is. Whether it's a local delivery or international shipping through Overseas Express Tracking, customers can now check the status of their parcels on-demand through apps, websites, or SMS alerts.
For example, OCS (Overseas Courier Service), a well-established name in international logistics, offers detailed tracking updates that show each checkpoint a parcel passes through — from the moment it is picked up to its final delivery. This transparency builds trust and reduces the anxiety often associated with international shipping.
Automation and Efficiency
Modern courier hubs now utilize automation to sort, scan, and dispatch parcels. Machines can handle thousands of packages per hour with minimal error. This not only speeds up delivery but also improves accuracy. Many popular courier services in India like DTDC, Blue Dart, and OCS have adopted automated warehousing solutions, barcode scanning, and GPS-based fleet management systems.
Fleet tracking technology has improved the efficiency of delivery routes. Drivers are guided in real-time to avoid traffic, roadblocks, or weather-related disruptions. This means faster deliveries and reduced operational costs — benefits that are ultimately passed on to the customer.
Seamless Integration with E-commerce
The rise of online shopping has had a profound impact on courier services all over India. Platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra rely heavily on logistics providers to deliver goods across the country — from metropolitan areas to rural villages. To meet these demands, courier companies have developed API integrations that connect directly with e-commerce platforms, allowing for seamless label generation, order tracking, and delivery updates.
This integration also allows for features like cash-on-delivery (COD) tracking and reverse logistics (easy returns), which are crucial in the Indian market. Technology makes it possible to manage high volumes without sacrificing quality or delivery timelines.
Customer Experience and Personalization
Another area where technology has made a significant difference is in enhancing the customer experience. Delivery preferences, time slots, and rerouting options are now standard in many courier platforms. Users can customize their delivery experience based on convenience — a huge step up from the rigid delivery systems of the past.
Chatbots, AI-powered support, and feedback systems further improve engagement. Popular courier services in India are increasingly using machine learning algorithms to predict delays, suggest better delivery times, and even anticipate customer needs based on past behavior.
Global Reach, Local Roots
International shipping is no longer a daunting task, thanks to advanced tracking and documentation tools. Services like Overseas Express Tracking have made cross-border logistics more accessible to individuals and small businesses. A seller in Jaipur can now ship a product to New York or Tokyo and track it in real time using platforms like OCS.
Despite this global reach, many courier companies maintain strong local networks. Courier services all over India continue to grow, ensuring that even remote areas have access to timely and secure delivery services. This balance of local accessibility and global connectivity is largely driven by digital infrastructure and strategic partnerships.
Challenges and the Road Ahead
While technology has brought numerous benefits, it also brings challenges. Cybersecurity, data privacy, and system downtime are real concerns in a digitally connected logistics environment. Moreover, smaller courier companies may struggle to afford high-end technological tools, leading to a digital divide within the sector.
That said, the future is promising. With the rise of AI, drones, and autonomous delivery vehicles, courier services are on the brink of another revolution. Companies that invest in scalable, adaptable tech solutions will likely lead the market in both domestic and international logistics.
Conclusion
Technology is not just supporting but actively driving the transformation of the courier industry. From courier services in India to Overseas Express Tracking, digital tools are enhancing speed, reliability, and customer satisfaction. As popular courier services in India like OCS continue to evolve, customers can expect more transparency, better control, and improved delivery experiences. In an age where time is money, technology ensures that every parcel — whether local or international — reaches its destination faster, safer, and smarter.

How to Reduce Delivery Costs Without Compromising Speed
Fast delivery is the lifeblood of Indian eCommerce. Consumers want their products to reach them almost immediately with the advent of q-commerce.
But when you provide this facility, you are also increasing your operational costs because of these expedited deliveries.
That means your main strategy should be reducing the costs without bringing down your delivery speeds. How can you do that? Well, that’s what we are here to explore. Let’s see the best strategies and how Ecom Express logistics can help with them. Let’s get into them without further ado.
Smarter Packaging and Shipment Consolidation
Packaging really affects a lot of your shipping costs and many businesses end up ignoring it.
How does it affect pricing? Take oversized boxes, for instance. They not only need more material but also increase dimensional weight charges. This is an unnecessary expense that you can skip out on by simply switching to the right-sized packaging materials.
Another cost-saving move is shipment consolidation. Instead of sending out multiple small parcels to the same region, combining shipments optimizes vehicle space and minimizes transportation expenses. This works particularly well for businesses with recurring orders in metro cities or high-demand locations.
Route Optimization and Warehousing Strategies
Route optimization software can significantly cut your expenses while still helping you maintain high-speed deliveries. This is done using AI-powered logistics tools that map out the most efficient ecommerce courier routes. This significantly reduces fuel consumption and time spent on the road.
One of the prime examples of these comes in the form of Ecom Express’ bulls.ai software that finds the best routes for last-mile delivery services without fail.
Another major contributor to cost-cutting is regional warehousing. When you store your necessary inventory closer to their major markets, it shortens the shipping distance a lot. This makes next-day and same-day delivery courier not just feasible but also more affordable.
Leveraging the Right Logistics Partnerships
Partnering with logistics providers that specialize in e-commerce shipping can make a huge difference in both speed and cost. A provider like Ecom Express helps businesses scale by offering flexible shipping solutions tailored to different needs. Their Next Day Delivery (NDD) and optimized last-mile services allow companies to meet customer expectations without stretching their logistics budgets.
Negotiating bulk shipping rates with multiple carriers is another effective strategy. By diversifying delivery partners, businesses can compare costs and choose the best rates for different regions. Prepaid shipping also offers discounts and streamlines the fulfillment process, making dispatches faster.
Finding the Right Balance With Ecom Express
Not all orders need express shipping. Encouraging customers to opt for cost-effective delivery options through incentives—such as discounts for standard shipping—can help businesses manage expenses without disappointing buyers. Transparent communication about delivery timelines builds trust and ensures that customers choose options that suit their urgency and budget.
Reducing delivery costs while maintaining speed isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about making smarter decisions. By improving packaging, optimizing routes, using regional warehouses, and working with expert logistics providers like Ecom Express, businesses can achieve a balance that keeps both their bottom line and their customers happy.

Industry trend|UPS Express emphasizes the importance of RFID in its quarterly report: reducing about 12 million manual scans per day and attracting high-end customers
Recently, UPS (United Parcel Service) released its fourth quarter report for 2024. The report shows that in 2024, UPS rode the wave of digital transformation. Through the successful implementation of the Digital Access Program (DAP), the widespread application of RFID technology, and the reconfiguration of the service network, UPS not only improved its operational efficiency, but also further consolidated its leading position in the logistics industry.
The Digital Access Program (DAP) is undoubtedly a highlight of UPS in 2024. This innovative initiative greatly simplifies the company's transportation process and provides unprecedented convenience for small and medium-sized enterprises. By providing discounted freight, seamless integration with e-commerce platforms, and flexible transportation options, DAP enables small and medium-sized enterprises to easily access UPS's advanced logistics solutions. According to statistics, in the fourth quarter of 2024, DAP generated global revenue of up to US$3.3 billion, with a year-on-year growth rate of up to 17%, injecting strong momentum into UPS's overall growth.
RFID also played an important role
At the same time, UPS has also made significant progress in the deployment of RFID technology. By equipping 60,000 US parcel trucks with RFID readers and writers, UPS has successfully achieved the transition from traditional scanning networks to advanced sensor networks. This technological innovation not only significantly reduces the need for manual scanning (reducing about 12 million manual scans per day), but also significantly improves the visibility and tracking accuracy of packages.
The application of RFID technology has brought significant efficiency improvements to UPS. On the one hand, by real-time monitoring and tracking of packages, UPS can more accurately predict the arrival time and transportation route of packages, thereby optimizing the transportation process and reducing transportation time and costs. On the other hand, RFID technology also improves the visibility and tracking accuracy of packages, allowing customers to keep abreast of the latest developments of packages, greatly improving customer satisfaction.
UPS's RFID service has significant advantages in the logistics market. By integrating RFID technology, retailers can better understand the movement of packages and better control inventory levels. This integration is particularly beneficial to retailers who rely on precise delivery windows to replenish inventory, allowing them to better respond to changes in market demand. At the same time, RFID technology has also brought more business opportunities to UPS and attracted more customers seeking efficient logistics solutions.
Strive to reduce costs and increase efficiency
In addition to technological innovation, UPS has also taken solid steps in service restructuring. Among them, the adjustment of SurePost services is particularly eye-catching. By fully controlling the part that was previously handled by the US Postal Service, UPS has further optimized its operating processes, reduced costs, and increased revenue per package. This move is an important part of UPS's "efficiency reengineering" plan and is expected to save the company up to $1 billion in costs each year.
In addition, UPS has also actively responded to market changes and adjusted its customer strategy. Although Amazon remains one of UPS's key customers, UPS is strategically reducing the number of packages it handles for the e-commerce giant. This decision reflects UPS's strategic orientation to focus on more profitable market segments. By optimizing resource allocation, UPS aims to provide customers with better quality and more efficient logistics services while achieving sustainable development of the company.
In terms of financial performance, UPS also performed well. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company's revenue increased by 1.5% to US$25.3 billion; full-year revenue also increased slightly to US$91.1 billion. Revenue in the domestic sector increased by 2.2%, thanks to increased revenue per piece and growth in air cargo; revenue in the international sector increased by 6.9%, showing UPS's strong competitiveness in the global market.
