The Vodou Files
Diddy & his entitlement an blatant disrespect of Lwa Ezili Dantor/Black Madonna

For all intent and purposes, the following information is alleged and for entertainment only.
In year of 2024, it’s no secret that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a polarizing figure. After his recent arrest and federal indictment this September on charges of s*x trafficking and more, and with multiple lawsuits alleging a multitude of abuses against men and women, this cannot be denied.
Let’s get into the possible spiritual implications of his recent arrest. In 2017 Diddy tattooed the Black Madonna aka Ezili Dantor on his back, for protection. The Black Madonna syncretism is often been used in Vodou to represent the Lwa Dantor.
Here’s a rending of the photo of Ezili that he seems to have taken inspiration from for his tattoo.
Ezili Dantor is the patroness and holy mother of Haiti. She is known as a protector of women and children, and was one of the petro or war spirits who were instrumental in the Haitian Revolution of 1804, allowing the Haitians to lead the first successful slave uprising. She assisted with giving them the strength in battle to defeat their colonizers and inspired others to resistance in the Diaspora. France went bankrupt during the Haitian revolution and had to sell off their land to pay off the massive debt this caused, spurring the Louisiana purchase and leading to creation of America as we know it, today. These acres of land make up the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, North & South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming and Montana. There would be no American Independence, if it hadn’t been for the Haiti.
While Ezili does not own my head, I know her children. They are usually women who are family matriarchs and mothers, who are incredibly kind, patient and strong and actively involved in their communities. They tend to be well respected within their communities and usually involved in community activism to varying degrees. They generally have a pleasant disposition but can be dangerous fighters when challenged spiritually and physically. They make great leaders and can be very wise. It is common for children of certain Lwa to take on similar traits of said Lwa & I believe this aspect can especially be seen in her children, who she claims. While I do not have her in my court, I do carry her sister aspect the darker, merciless and vengeful Le Rouge.
The Ezili are a powerful class of spirits within the Vodou pantheon. Ezili Dantor is an example of a very powerful spirit who can shift fate and reality. She is the peaceful mother but can exhibit extremely controlled violence when necessary, a triumphant warrior queen personified. She does not take disrespect or injustice lightly.
Diddy invoking her essence and protection, with this tattoo while assaulting and harming people continuously would draw her ire, wrath and ultimate disrespect. Some think someone recommended he do this to hasten his downfall or he did this out of pure stupidity.
Others of the Catholic faith, see it as the Holy Mother, the Blessed Black Madonna looking out for her children and protecting them.
Either way it’s clear the drums of justice have begun to beat for Diddy and it’s time for him to account for what he has done.

your next quantum leap
Message: hey, first “big” reading in a long time, I hope that you guys haven’t been feeling like I’ve neglected doing readings I’ve been undergoing a lot of changes and working a lot behind the scenes as of lately! Thank you so much for waiting and being patient with me! I love you and I hope that everything is going well and if it isn’t that it shall pass and you’ll receive peace very soon.
***
i.
pile one, your next quantum leap brings the gift of love and relationships or comes under the cover of love and relationships. You are receiving your ten of cups finally, divine love, true love, fulfillment, etc. or are in the process of preparing for it’s arrival. I see flowers as a representation of growth and transformation. Many of you are feminine energies. The flower of a plant is the seed bearing part of a plant, you’ve been planting seeds or are in the process of releasing them in order for them to be dropped down into the soil to grow. Many living organisms also help in the process of spreading the seeds of a plant by helping to disperse them. Someone you will love and someone who loves you is coming into your life (or for some of you is already present) and they will help you plant your seeds, and help you grow as well. The imagery in the picture for pile one is a woman standing in the center of a garden, she’s topless/nude and I feel like that represents vulnerability and receptivity. There is nothing but growth around her.
This upcoming season, throughout these next few weeks and months, you may need to learn to outgrow the habit of selling yourself short, minimizing your value or minimizing the possibility of miracles or things working out in your favor. There are gifts for you, there are blessings for you, there are manifestations for you to receive, the seeds that you’re planting will have grown and be ready to harvest but it’s up to you whether you’ll be collecting what you’ve grown and reaping the benefits of your hard work and cultivation. You’ve planted something, you should harvest it and put it towards your abundance and prosperity and let it bring you good things.
During this season, you may feel confused or disconnected from your intuition in a way, there’s a message here about not knowing what to do with what you’ll be receiving, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling as though you’re having to relearn everything you’ve ever known because your life has shifted so drastically. You asked for change, you asked for what you deserved and the universe gifted you exactly that. But because you’ve done things one way for a long time or have only received one thing for a long time, the gifts you receive may feel foreign to you, you’re about to shift into a new version of yourself. You’re finally shifting into your higher self. Transformation and rebirth are significant. You may feel passionate about children lately or motherhood. Or recieving lots of imagery or seeing lots of posts on social media about children, parenting and motherhood.
There’s a possibility you’ve gotten in arguments lately about what people deserve, what children deserve or what’s best for people or what’s best for someone in particular. There’s a diety who thinking of, I’m not super familiar with her, a Haitian deity named Ezili Dantor who protects women and children fiercely. This season you’ll be in the process of fully and wholly shifting into your feminine energy after a long time of having to switch back in forth from your masculine and feminine or having to step out of the energy of recieving and relaxation to push things into fruition or make things go in a way that you felt was right for you. Some of this behavior may have shown up frequently these past couple years in trying to force relationships to work or push people into being in alignment with you or giving you what you’ve deserved all along and/or even having to stand up and remove yourself from situations that weren’t serving you in order to open yourself up to recieving these gifts or open yourself up to moving into a period of ultimate rest and relaxation forever.
You’ll be working hard this season on building a foundation for yourself or continuing to work towards cultivating a life of prosperity, peace and abundance. You may be shifting your energy into your career, into your education or your finances. Whilst love is here, and you’re building your connections and are in flow and in tune with whomever this person may be, your external energy is focused on your material and physical world and preparing things for yourself. While your feminine energy is at ease, is being loved, is being fed on a soul level, your masculine energy is out creating a world for you, building a foundation, making a name. You’ve created balance. 👥. The wheel is turning in your favor, complete transformation, all blessings are coming in, the dam separating you from your manifestations and from everything you’ve earned all this time has began crumbling.
Oracle:
29 • Let Go • “The Blood Moon” • Full Moon • Mother : “the full blood moon is a time to let go. Here I painted the mother, breaking away from her past self, as represented in the shadow of herself, fading behind her. This mother is letting go of the past, and everything that haunts her soul, so she can move forward with the child that is inside her. it is time to let go of the past that has haunted you to this point. That is the person you used to be and even though that old self has allowed you to be the person you are today you are no longer that individual this card also represents that now is a perfect opportunity to release the negative factor in your life. This could be a person or a habit that harms your happiness or sense of self. Think about what you need to set free.”
39 • Personal Alchemy • “The Cold Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone: “ the waning, cold moon is a time for you to process the deep, embodied, yet personal inquiry of yourself as the crone is illustrated on this card she is reaching deep inside herself finding her soul represented in the glowing orb she holds within her chest. This indicates the time to start identifying the areas in your life where you want to make changes gather the resources to make those shifts plot out of plan, and then take steps to implement the new ideas, we engage with this process of change by breaking it up into small easily, implemented new habits. where in your life can you apply personal alchemy and start changing those patterns?”
7 • Explore • “The Crow Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden : “ the waxing crow moon is about exploring through your inner self to find what you may be missing within as this maiden is depicted walking through the forest, guided by her lamp glow, and her crow companion. She’s looking deep into the darkness she’s trying to find her true path and the courage within herself to move forward now is the time to explore yourself your surroundings, and even current connections you have with other people what new routes can you take to solve a current predicament you may be in? examine what is around maybe there’s a different path you can make such as a new job or a new class? this other avenue may guide you in the direction where you would like to be in life perhaps a connection with an acquaintance, or friend, may lead you to a unique opportunity.”
17 • Decisions • “The Mead Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full mead moon, is a time for decisions about how you harnessed the earths restless, energy and where you are going to apply it here the mother of the mead moon is depicted standing before two paths. She is looking upon these paths, deciding where she should refocus her life which will fulfill her soul. Time is up now is the time to choose one with conviction this card is a reliable indication that time is up, move forward and make that decision that has been bouncing around the back of your mind that decision that you’ve been hesitating to make act now to take steps toward a resolution to the problem, you have been mowing over, move forward in the direction that feels right in your soul.”
***
ii.
Pile two, your next quantum leap brings up the question of understanding your inner feelings, listening to your needs and desires and following and listening to your heart. There’s a message here about serving yourself Justice and exercising self love by allowing yourself to have what you’ve been asking/wishing for, or coming to terms with what you want and what you should do in order for you to be happy, prosperous, and fulfilled. This season you’ll be having some sort of breakthrough, coming to a conclusion, or coming up on a new idea. Whatever this new idea or decision might be for you may lead to communication between you and others or you and someone and particular. Emphasis on new communication. You may say something you may have not usually have said or you may say something or express something or communicate something you had not intended to say or share for a long while or until way later.
There could also be new news you’ll be sharing with your friends and family and loved ones regarding something incredibly significant. While one side of you on an internal scale will be focused on serving yourself Justice, focused on self love and the cultivating of a space space on for yourself and others and preparing you for the overcoming of a new obstacle or the receiving of a new opportunity. The other side of you, on an external scale will be focused on gaining financial independence, saving and investing money, or bringing more stability to your financial life. You could be saving up for something special, budgeting, or preparing to make a large financial investment or move soon. Some of you are masculine energies, and are shifting into the energy of a provider. You may be about to offer someone your cup or offer someone stability or commitment.
You could’ve been unsure about something or in the process of coming to conclusion(s). Throughout this season whatever this is will be heavily on your mind, and you’ll come to some sort of resolution or realization. Mental breakthroughs on whatever this is are in store for you within the next couple of months. You may be working through any deep seated fears, healing karma (detaching from karmic behaviors, habits, people, etc.) on an independent and personal level. You’re preparing yourself for a transformation or a shift in your reality. A lot of this could have to do with love and relationships and the decision to move into the energy of love or the energy of recieving love and preparing yourself to be in a long term commitment. Financially, mentally, and emotionally.
The world card upright signifying completion of cycles, integration, and accomplishments. You may also find yourself traveling or planning to travel very soon.
Oracle:
21 • Dreamwork • “The Buck Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone : “ the waning buck moon is a wonderful time to undertake dream work for this card. Here is the crone with a swirling universe in the front of her like luminescent Stardust. butterflies float around her in a dreamy landscape. The crone gazes at you as if she can see your inner self by doing so she tries to get your soul to manifest the imagining in your mind, this card encourages you to look back at your recent dreams and consider what you may have conjured in your sleep. Dream work is the process by which the unconscious mind alters the manifest content of thoughts to decode their real meaning for the dreamer, your higher self, or your dream self has been waiting for you to start paying attention. What were you dreaming about? What could be the meaning behind such images and emotions? were you afraid in your dream angry, or forlorn? try to think back to your vision and reflect on what your inner self is telling you.”
20 • Prepare • “The Buck Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full buck moon is the time to prepare. It is time to make something ready for use in your current situation. The mother is illustrated on this card, perched upon a pillar, as she has been given a place to concentrate on the strategy that she is preparing for her current undertaking, this is a strong signal that it is time for you to develop a plan. is there a business idea you would like to launch or maybe you are looking to remodel your home? sit down and write out the necessary steps you need to get this project in motion maybe it is time for you to start packing for a trip or organizing your home for a new baby. consider where in your life you may need to make some preparations and plans.”
37 • Reach Out • “The Cold Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “ the waxing cold moon, represents a time to reach out to another as the maiden is illustrated here strong in both carrying an owl upon her shoulder she stretches a hand out to help those in need now is the time to make an effort to do something for other people. This indicates that it is essential to lend a compassionate hand to those in need. Maybe there’s a classmate who may need help on a paper where you excel reach out and offer your support. Perhaps there’s a person who is struggling with addiction who needs encouragement? Where in your life can you do something good for another?”
35 • Take Root • “The Snow Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ a full snow, moon is a time to become established in your life to take hold of a new idea, or a way you wish to live. The mother is illustrated on this card firmly rooted to the earth. Timing is ideal to take an idea or belief and make it become established or accepted. If you believe that, you would be happier, living a vegan lifestyle. This could be the time to embrace and commit to it maybe you moved to a new city, and you have been feeling alone, consider volunteering or spending more time in your community. where in your life do you need to be accepted to have a permanent solid base to turn to? time to take root and do what is necessary to be a part of that World.”
***
iii.
Pile three, your next quantum leap has everything to do with you coming to terms with and finally feeling some deeply rooted emotions regarding where you stand in life, what you’re doing, what you’re accepting and some of the decisions you’ve made. This will ultimately lead you to walking away from something or making better choices but first comes the storm before all things can be watered after months without proper rain, before the dirt that hides the truth is washed away, and before we can step into peace and alignment with what is necessary for us to be fulfilled and happy. There’s a catalyst under way or you are in a position where you are experiencing one. You could’ve caused someone or others a great deal of trauma or pain, and in the process caused yourself a great deal of trauma and pain. This is your karma for some of the decisions you’ve made. But, with karma comes resolutions for everyone. You’ll get to see what happens when you make choices that aren’t in alignment with you and when you make choices at the expense of others.
You may be dealing with issues regarding co-dependency, may have karmic issues and cycles to heal regarding your parents, your childhood, addiction, certain people you choose to love and be around, etc. you’ll be dealing with a heart chakra opening and an awakening regarding how you feel and how you’ve made others feel. I hear ambulances out side of my window. There might be a great tower moment in store for you this season. A rude awakening or a long time moment of depersonalization that has caused you to step outside of yourself and reality in order to look at everything from a distance or different perspective.
You may also have a spiritual awakening for some of you. Whilst as a whole, your status quo, belief systems, and regular way of behaving and thinking will be challenged and broken down. Your old way of doing something or doing things may not be working out for you or in your favor any longer. You may struggle with accountability, struggle with confronting your feelings and accepting feelings of loss. There may be elements of your past that threaten to come up and break your heart as you’ve been done nothing to aid in or heal your past heart break. I’m getting a message about a phantom itch or phantom pain, something or someone who’s no longer there anymore is resurfacing for you on an internal level and bringing you pain and revelation. You’ll have to be strong, you’ll have to be willing to fight through this in order to get to a better place and find true peace.
You may find that things you want may not all be available to you any longer due to your choices and your decisions, but don’t be discouraged, there will be more for you to receive when the time comes to be rewarded for hardship. But you must do the inner work. Your past and your negligence is confronting you and you’ll have to face the consequences of your actions. Once in for all. You feared your shadow, you feared what the consequences would be for all that you ran from, all that you didn’t take accountability for, and all the damage you may have done with the intention to protect yourself or shield yourself for more wounding but it’s here for you. All you can do is learn from it. This energy is heavy and there’s a lot of heart break and defensiveness coming through here. You’ll make it through, I’m sure of it. But it won’t be easy. Surrender. If you run anymore, you’ll be sorry.
Oracle:
33 • Prophecy • “The Blue Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone: “ the waning, blue moon is a time for prediction and foresight as the crone is shown upon this card there is a skull referring to the past, and how she can use that for insight going forward. future selves are pictured as ghostly figures around the wise woman, and the raven represents divination and awareness. Now is the time to use past experiences to predict the outcome of a current state of affairs. It is also time to seek knowledge of the future, or the unknown by supernatural means. reflect on what has happened in the past, and how that can likely happen again. how did you react previously to a specific situation? Do you want to act that way again or is it time to change paths, maybe a loved one treated you poorly before and may do so again with current circumstances think about possible outcomes to the events that are about to unfold.”
14 • Propagating Energy • “The Hare Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full hair moon is a time to cultivate, or tap into the tulleric current, which is the energy that derives from the heart of the Earth. Here the mother of the hare moon is pictured holding the earth in her hands as the current of energy swirls from the center. She is cradling this earth energy in her palms, ready to use it within herself to make her strong and intuitive. This card represents the need to gather your personal energy. you need to take inventory of all your unused or more importantly your misused power and store it for an essential purpose. Have you ever been in the situation that drained you of your vitality? Is there a specific person you deal with who depletes you? Reflect on what parts of your life are diminishing your energy, and how to pull that energy back to you and redirect it towards a better purpose.”
31 • Honoring The Past • “The Blue Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “The Waxing Blue Moon represents a time to honor your past. Here the Maiden is pictured cradling a skull in her hands, honoring the dead or those who have gone before. The raven represents prophecy and insight into that past, where she can grasp the full meaning of how those experiences impacted her life. It is time to recognize what has passed in your life. Understand that without those bygone days, you would not be the person you are today. It may be that you honor the past you, the unenlightened you, the you who did not know back then. Maybe it is time to praise the integrity of someone in your past, like a parent or friend. This person's advice may have led you to the right path. Think about the lessons learned, and let those ethics and morals guide you in the future.”
4 • Purification • “The Ice Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “The Waxing Blue Moon represents a time to honor your past. Here the Maiden is pictured cradling a skull in her hands, honoring the dead or those who have gone before. The raven represents prophecy and insight into that past, where she can grasp the full meaning of how those experiences impacted her life. The Waxing Crow Moon is about exploring through your inner self to find what you may be missing within. As this Maiden is depicted walking through the forest, guided by her lamp glow and her crow companion, she is looking deep into the darkness. She is trying to find her true path and the courage within herself to move forward.”

It wouldn't be quite the usual biographical format because she is a spirit in Vodou rather than a historical person, but you could consider doing an episode on Ezili Dantor (there are various spellings of her name). She had a key part in the Haitian Revolution, and is also known as a protector of lesbians. I've also read that Vodou is often really important to queer Haitians today. I've only read a little about her, but from what I've seen I think there's some interesting scholarship on her https://lithub.com/the-literature-of-ezili-vodou-spirit-force-of-queer-black-womanhood/ https://www.advocate.com/current-issue/2016/10/31/why-queer-haitians-are-turning-vodou
Thank you for these suggestions! We're actually planning an episode quite soon looking at Romaine-la-Prophétesse, a figure from the Haitian Revolution, so this is very timely, thank you!

Hector Hyppolite - Catholic Imagery
Hector Hyppolite practiced a form of Haitian Vodou that intermingled with Roman Catholicism. This is most obvious in the painting below, The Congo Queen. Immediately, the iconography of the painting looks like Christian depictions of the Madonna and Child, but this central figure is actually Erzulie Dantor. She is one of the primary goddesses in Haitian Vudu and is the goddess of love, motherhood, and femininity. She has many different representations---like the mermaid that we will see in a later post---but is also commonly depicted as the Madonna. Some scholars believe that followers of Vudu began depicting her in a Christian way to avoid being detected by their Christian colonizers.

Erzulie

Venerated in Haitian Vodou, Louisiana Voodoo, Folk Catholicism
Attributes Pale bejeweled woman, pink dresses, three wedding rings, heart-shaped medals, heart pierced by sword
Patronage Love, health, beauty, homosexuals, passion, prosperity, perfumes, jewelry, flowers
Erzulie Fréda Dahomey, the Rada aspect of Erzulie, is the Haitian African spirit of love, beauty, jewelry, dancing, luxury, and flowers. She wears three wedding rings, one for each husband - Damballa, Agwe and Ogoun. Her symbol is a heart, her colours are pink, blue, white and gold, and her favourite sacrifices include jewellery, perfume, sweet cakes and liqueurs. Coquettish and very fond of beauty and finery, Erzulie Freda is femininity and compassion embodied, yet she also has a darker side; she is seen as jealous and spoiled and within some Vodoun circles is considered to be lazy. During ritual possession, she may enter the body of either a man or a woman. She enjoys the game of flirtation and seduces people without distinguishing between sexes.
A common syncretic depiction of Erzulie Dantor is St Jeanne d'Arc, who is displayed carrying or supporting a sword. She is replicated in the likeness of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, characterized by her dark skin and the presence of two scars on her face. The colors associated with her are red, gold, and navy blue. Her emblematic symbols include a pierced heart and either knives or swords. Her favourite sacrifices include black pigs, griot (seasoned fried pork), and rum.
Erzulie Freda (Lady Erzulie) - The vain and flirty goddess of love. Her "horses" tend to cry tears of longing and regret. She is syncretized with Our Lady of Sorrows (the Virgin Mary as suffering mother).
Erzulie Mansur (Erzulie the Blessed) - Represents maternal love and protects children from harm.
Granne Erzulie (Grandma Erzulie) - Represents the wisdom granted by experience and maturity and grandmotherly kindness and love. She is syncretized with St. Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary.
Erzulie D'en Tort or Erzulie Dantor (Erzulie of the Wrongs) Protects women and children and deals revenge against those who wrong them.
Erzulie Balianne (Erzulie the Gagged) - "Silences" (heals or calms) hearts. Keeps secrets or ensures that secrets will not be revealed. Helps people to forget past loves and overcome passionate emotions. Her "horses" tend to speak as if they have a gag in their mouth. She is syncretized with The Immaculate Heart.
Erzulie Mapiangue (Erzulie the Suckler) Deals with the pain of childbirth and the protection of unborn and newborn babies. Her "horses" tend to get in a fetal position or birthing position and cry tears of pain. Common syncretization is as the Virgin and Infant of Prague, which wear matching red velvet robes and gold crowns.
Erzulie Yeux Rouge or Erzulie Ge-Rouge (Red-Eyed Erzulie) Takes revenge on unfaithful lovers. Her "horses" cry tears of bitter sadness.
Erzulie Toho Aids the jealous or slighted in love. Her "horses" cry tears of anger.
Others
Erzulie La Flambeau (Erzulie of the Torch)
Erzulie Wangol (Erzulie of the Sacred Banner)

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕶𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖉𝖔𝖒 𝖔𝖋 𝖅𝖆𝖑𝖆𝖍𝖒𝖊́
(“Zalahmé” meaning “Land of Flame and Song” in an old, spirit-born tongue.) Ruled by the Royal House of du Bélisaire, descendants of the first witch-queen. A sovereign, closed empire stretched across one of the largest continents in the known world, Zalahmé is a land of fire-wrought destiny, blood-memory, and ancestral song. Isolated by towering mountains and the endless golden dunes of the Sundagara, it stands untouched and unequaled—veiled in silence, feared for its power. The people of Zalahmé were not born of this world. They were summoned into it.
Origin: Blood, Fire, and Mourning
Long ago, in Bellenau, Louisiana, there lived a woman known as Maman Eréda, the first witch-queen. She was enslaved, chained in body but never in spirit. Her son, her only child, was taken and killed by the masters for daring to sing the old songs—the ones that made the wind move and the sugarcane rise.
In her grief, Maman Eréda called upon the divine Mothers of Magic—Isis, mother of life; Oya, goddess of winds and storms; Ezili Dantor, warrior of blood and protector of women. She sang a dirge so deep and old that the sky split open. Her lament became fire. Her prayer became rupture. She sang down the walls of the old plantation house, turning its white stone to ash and bone.
That night, the sky opened. A door was made. And her people walked through it.
They crossed realms, guided by the spirits of their ancestors and the rage of their goddesses. They found themselves in a strange, untouched land—a place both savage and sacred. And they named it Zalahmé.
The du Bélisaire Bloodline
The royal family, House du Bélisaire, are the direct descendants of Maman Eréda. Her daughters bore her legacy, and her lineage became a dynasty of witch-queens and empress-mothers. Every child of du Bélisaire carries the mark of her magic: a fire under the tongue, a memory in the bones. They are chosen by the spirits, not just blood. The monarch rules alongside a council of high-mothers, diviners, and ancestral mediums. Their magic is not separate from governance—it is governance. Every law is sealed by ritual. Every war is a spiritual reckoning.
Culture: Song, Spirit, Sovereignty
Zalahmé’s people are deeply spiritual, and their society is built around ancestral reverence, matriarchal wisdom, and elemental connection. Their traditions are ancient, yet ever-changing, passed down in song, tattoo, and dream.
Languages are drawn from an amalgamation of old African dialects—melodic, percussive, powerful—Louisiana creole, haitian creole, and french. Even simple greetings can stir wind or earth. Clothing is ceremonial armor: layered fabrics dyed in deep reds, coppers, and obsidians, adorned with ivory, woven gold, and bones from sacred animals.
Rituals mark every stage of life—naming ceremonies, grief songs, seasonal offerings to the mothers of magic. Drums and chants are sacred. Music holds history. Certain rhythms are forbidden unless in battle, as they summon ancestral warriors. Zal'ahmé is a land where the living walk beside their dead, and the divine still answers when called. The Ancestors living in every corner of their empire and highly regarded.
Magic, Science & Isolation
Zalahmé is one of the most advanced civilizations in the known world, with magical, medical, and scientific systems far beyond other nations. Magic is an integrated force—used in architecture, weather control, healing, war, communication, agriculture, and technology.
Healing combines root science, blood spells, and spiritual rebalancing. A healer may chant while reshaping broken bones with her bare hands. Scholar-temples chart time through star-mapping and song-weaving; spirit-mirrors allow the living to speak to their ancestors in real-time.
Weapons are sung into being—forged not in fire, but in chorus, shaped from enchanted obsidian, sunmetal, or the glassy bones of sky-serpents. But they do not share.
Why They Remain Silent
Zalahmé is proudly isolationist. Not out of pride—out of pain.
Their first world was stolen from them. They still carry the memory of chains, of sons hanged for magic, of mothers whose screams summoned gods.
They built this world alone. No aid. No allies. The early kingdoms of this realm feared them—called them invaders, witches, devils.
Their knowledge is sacred. Passed by blood, dream, and spirit. To give it freely would be to cheapen the magic that cost them everything.
History is a shield. They know what the world does to Black brilliance, to unbroken power. Silence is a blade hidden in a smile. They have not forgotten Bellenau. They have not forgiven it. And so, Zalahmé remains veiled in mystery, her gates closed, her warriors ever-watchful, her empress descended from fire and mourning.

Diddy's two homes are being raided by the FBI as we speak. Ezili Dantor(the Haitian goddess that he has a back tattoo of, that protects women and children) is beating his entire ASS right about now. And it's the least of what he deserves for all the fuckery he did throughout his life. Get his ass, Ezili!
(The Cassie and Kid Cudi cases live in my mind rent free. This is why you can't give certain people money or power, because this mofo thinks he's Scarface.)
Money will ruin most people. Most people don’t have the mental fortitude they think they have. They are only good people cuz they broke. Give them a little money and watch how they throw they morals out the window.
Sex/greed go hand in hand.

Diddy's two homes are being raided by the FBI as we speak and he's on the run, more or less. Ezili Dantor(the Haitian spirit that he has a back tattoo of) is beating his entire ASS right about now. And it's the least of what he deserves for all the fuckery he did throughout his life. Get his ass, Ezili!
First, I cannot believe he was even allowed to get within 500 feet of a plane, he was so obviously a flight risk!
Second, and most importantly, Cassie is so, so brave.
I cannot imagine how much strength it took for her to file her lawsuit. She had everything to lose and nothing to gain, and she did it anyway. I don’t know if the other survivors were warring with their decisions to come forward, but it seems clear that her bravery gave them the final push to finish filing their own lawsuits.
I cannot imagine the narcissism of being a man who repeatedly harms women and choosing to get a Haitian goddess who is seen as the protector of women tattooed on your entire back. She’s not looking out for you! And she’s not going to protect you if you’re at fault! Whichever grandmother tricked him into doing that is a genius and I hope she is basking in peace and tranquility for all of her days! 💛
#I just know some wonderful grandmother told him it was the Black Madonna and that it would protect him lol#I don’t know why his mother didn’t tell him not to get spiritual symbols or deities tattooed on his body#that’s just you laser focusing their energy on you#and it takes time but eventually comeuppance will come#answered#.

I’m still mulling this over, but I might reverse the decision to remove Lady Rose from the lineup.
What’s sticking in my brain is the description of “Mama You”...Upon further investigation, it does seem that “Manman Ou” is used in reference to lwa in the Ezili famille - especially Ezili Danto (Manman Danto), but not so much Ezili Freda. You can find examples of this all over the internet. I guess what I said wasn’t entirely stupid!
“Mama You” is specified as “the mother of the child Jesus”, not just “the Virgin Mary”.
Ezili Freda and Ezili Danto are both represented by images of the Virgin Mary, but Freda is represented by Mater Dolorosa - Our Lady of Sorrows, without the child Jesus - while Danto is represented by the Black Madonna - a maternal figure with the child Jesus on her wrist.
El vodú en Cuba by Joel James Figarola, José Millet, and Alexis Alarcón captures how Vodou (Vodú) was practiced by the descendants of Haitians who emigrated to Cuba during first half of the 20th century*. Two different Ezili (Ercilí) were worshiped: one described as “Rada” and one described as “Petro”:
“Hemos podido registrar dos tipos de Ercilí en nuestras investigaciones de campo: una, de claro sello radá y otra, que bien puede equipararse con la Ercilí-Yeux-Rouges (Erzulie Ojos Rojos), de tipo petró (Courlander, 1985: 319).”
MACHINE TRANSLATION:
“We have been able to record two types of Ercilí in our field investigations: one, with a clear Radá seal and another, which can easily be compared to the Ercilí-Yeux-Rouges (Red-Eyed Erzulie), of the petró type (Courlander, 1985: 319).”
SOURCE: James Figarola, Joel, et al. El vodú en Cuba. Santiago de Cuba, Editorial Oriente, 2007. Originally published in 1998. p. 171
Likewise, “Petro” and “Rada” forms of Ezili (Esili) are observed in Dominican Vudú, though it is unclear whether they were considered separate beings or two sides of a single being. I am also unclear on the timeframe for this observation, as I was unable to obtain a copy of Martha Ellen Davis’ (1987) La otra ciencia: el vodu como religion y medicina populares. (In the present day, Metresili is distinct from Esili Dantor)
“En República Dominicana, esta divinidad recibe el nombre de Metré Silí y tiene gran renombre. Posee muchos de los trazos de la divinidad haitiana: es muy débil a los perfumes, a las prendas y a los trajes lujosos y caros. Odia la bebida y se deja arrastrar por la atracción masculina (Deive, 1975: 185). Esta misma divinidad, en punto petró, es “la única metresa que se presta para recoger corrientes malas [...] cuando utiliza flores amarillas o de sol [...]” (Davis, 1987, 242)”
MACHINE TRANSLATION:
“In the Dominican Republic, this deity is called Metré Silí and is very well-known. She has many of the traits of the Haitian deity: she is very weak to perfumes, clothes and luxurious and expensive suits. She hates drink and lets herself be carried away by male attraction (Deive, 1975: 185). This same deity, in petró point, is “the only metresa that lends itself to collecting bad currents [...] when she uses yellow or sun flowers [...]” (Davis, 1987, 242)”

*see: Anderson, Jeffrey E.. Voodoo: An African American Religion. United States, LSU Press, 2024. p. 64.
Ezili Danto is said to emerge in 1791, at Bwa Kayiman. Really going out on a limb here, but what if the symbol resembling Ezili Freda’s veve* is evidence that Ezili Freda was worshiped, while the reference to “Mama You” is evidence that Ezili Danto was worshiped as an independent divinity from Ezili Freda…?
*see page 31 of: Cole, Kendra, "The State and the Spirits: Voodoo and Religious Repression in Jim Crow New Orleans" (2019). Honors Theses. 658. https://aquila.usm.edu/honors_theses/658
Or, rather Danto specifically, one of the Petwo Ezili…? Alternatively, “Mama You” might be “Manman Wou”, who is listed as one of the lwa in the Ezili famille.
Of course, this is just a theory, and it doesn’t have strong evidence… This is literally just real-life fanfiction!
I would not go down this road if this was a story based in the real world, as the evidence here is so weak. But it seems no matter what decision is made, it inevitably becomes an exercise in interpretation and “guessing”, since the historical record is so sparse.
There is an advantage to making “Lady Rose” and “Lady Love” twins… Twins hold a spiritual significance in West African belief systems. In Dahomean Narrative, several of Legba’s older siblings are twins. In Haitian Vodou, a pair of divine twins features prominently: The Marassa. It is fitting for a couple of “The Seven” to be a pair of twins…
“Lady Rose” is Black like “Lady Love” because, from a visual standpoint, it gets too confusing if “The Seven” don’t have the same skintone. This is a deliberate departure from the real-life counterparts, and not a decision I would have made if the story was set in the real world.
In a sense, “Lady Rose” has a dagger in her heart, not over the loss of a child but the loss of her twin sister. Two sisters who were once inseparable, now bitter enemies…
(it’s basically the female version of Gravity Falls…)
Naturally, I plan to develop multiple, parallel concepts that could be swapped for each other, like so:
“Lady Rose” and “Lady Love” as twins
“Lady Rose” is removed; her image is what “Lady Love” used to look like
Same as 2, but elements of Ezili Danto / Black Madonna of Częstochowa are removed
Just a question of which one should occupy the no.1 spot, and which one should be listed as an alternative…
So I’m leaning towards reversing my decision, but I need to think about this a little harder… There are pros and cons to each option, which is why all should be developed further, in parallel…
#commentary#i have more to say about this but it will have to wait for another time...#lady love (hazbin hotel)#lady rose (hazbin hotel)#the loa (hazbin hotel)

This post is inspired by @night-raven-miscellany EHEEEHHHEHEEEHHEHEHHEHEHE
(Warning : this is LONG lmao)
🕯️ It’s show time! 💜 — Calypso Xaymaxa trivia
• Calypso is loosely inspired from POTC, specifically Tia Dalma and her goddess form, Calypso. (Her name is a tribute to her :3)
• Calypso’s full name — Calypso Ezili Xaymaxa — has references to a few world mythologies, which have a play on her character. (Meaning for each name below)
Calypso — Daughter of the Titan Atlas, Calypso was a goddess of renowned beauty. She controlled the seas along with Poseidon, and her temper was well-known to be as unpredictable as the waves. In Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, Odysseus landed on her island called Ogygia shortly after he lost all of his men.
Calypso is known for her small temper, since she does snap at the students viciously on occasion. It’s very unpredictable when she’ll snap at someone, and some students are always on edge. But, in the eyes of most of the students, she is actually very good looking. When she’s not angry, of course.
Ezili (Dantor) — Ezili Dantor (from Haitian Vodou) is widely regarded as the Mother of the Revolution. She is a fierce warrior goddess associated with motherhood, strength, and liberation. She is also known as the loa of love.
Calypso herself has even been told that she’s a bit fierce, like a warrior ready for battle. But, she also has a bit of a protective side for the younger students at NRC, kinda looking over some of them like that one cool rich auntie. She can also bench press 200 kg. So. Good luck.
Xaymaca — Xaymaca is an Arawak word that means "land of wood and water" or "land of springs". The indigenous Taíno people used the word to name the island of Jamaica, which is still its name today.
Her last name is a tribute to her heritage, since she has more than a few ancestors who have Arawak blood. And, also, because she’s from Jamaica.
• Calypso was less than happy when she was first admitted to live in Ramshackle, since everything was so run down and old. And the ghosts, too. But, surprisingly, she was able to clean the place up record time. Or, as much as she could. It’s fairly presentable, now, and doesn’t look nearly as bad as it did before.
• Calypso made her own uniform! She observed the other students’ and sketched out what theirs looked like, and modeled and made her own — with her own style to it. She learned how to stitch and sew at a young age, so it wasn’t that difficult for her. It just took a little while.
• Calypso actually enjoys hanging out with others! …If she gets to know you first. She can be just a bit abrasive with people she doesn’t want to chat with, but she’ll be sweet as apple pie if you’re considered lucky enough to be her friend.
• She loves loves LOVES hosting sleepovers, since it was something she did often back on her island. Since he has not other dorm mates (except Grim, technically), she hasn’t gotten the chance to host such an event. She hopes she can soon, though.
• She has had multiple near death experiences. She actually has died once! For roughly a minute and twenty nine seconds.
• Calypso is multilingual! She is fluent in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Hawaiian, French, Latin, and many more languages!
• She loves to sing. And she’s very good at it, too! She loves singing in different languages from different cultures, as it gives her an insight into what it would be like to live in that place.
• Calypso broke a glass singing once.
• Calypso loves to read and write, and even makes her own little short stories in her free time. She makes her own songs and poems, but she’s never showed anyone.
• She’s never seen someone having an overblot herself, but when she heard about it, she made sure she would stay the hell away if it were to happen again. (Little did she know 🌚)

I don't think she ever walked with him. I have Lwa but they aren't activated. I reckon he'll get the same "justice" that Epstein got

Besides being Ezili Danto's son and lover who may have a very fiery entrance and dance while wielding a stick and wearing a hat, what else can be said about Ti-Jean?
Hi,
Ti Jean is a big, big lwa.
While the Petwo faces of Ti Jean are heavily associated with Ezili Danto, he also is well known for other alliances. He is also the wife or very close confidant of Mayinèt as well as other Petwo Ezilis, like Je Wouj and Kè Nwa, and others. Relationships are very movable.
There are also a LOT of Ti Jean's...Ti Jean Petwo, Ti Jean Dantor, Jean Zandor, Jean Kanga, Jean Kita...and a ton more, that's what pops into my head immediately.
Ti Jean also has a presence in the Rada rite, particularly when spirits who come from the north are sung for. This is a Ti Jean that is sung for as St Jean Baptiste, Jean Fawo (though some folks place Jean Fawo in the Petwo rite specifically), and is accompanied by Pye Basiko or Pye Fawo and others.
This part of Ti Jean can be sung for with Rada rhythms but sometimes the drums will switch over to Petwo rhythms as well, just for him. He doesn't come cool here; his placement in the Rada rite is largely speaking to where he comes from. This Ti Jean is tied with white, yellow, and sometimes red, while Ti Jean in the Petwo rite is tied with red, and sometimes green or even black.
Jean is a master magician in any face that he comes in and an incredible healer. Like many lwa, he can bring necessary change when there is stagnation. I know Jean specifically as a lwa who induces possession as a means of healing and addressing blockages, but that's my stuff with Jean specifically and not unique to him only.
The Jean I know best comes down from the mountains and prefers to come during the Rada rite, though he will ask for Petwo rhythms and dance in fire. He carries many secrets of medicine, leaves, and magic in his makeup, and he loves a good party....I often describe him as being like the guy you meet at the bar who is super happy to drink beer and tell stories, but is never drunk.
In comparison, I know Ti Jean in the Petwo rite as a lwa who can push boundaries. He will throw himself into a bonfire and sit down among the flames, yet emerge with his chwal unharmed. He'll drink gasoline (when allowed) and yet his chwal will be unhurt. I know him as being willing to sacrifice himself for the good of those he is allied with.
Lots of folks talk about how Ti Jean is a womanizer, and my experience is that Ti Jean loves his people (of any gender) intensely. If he is for you, he is FOR YOU. He is a formidable ally to have regardless of what rite he walks in.
Hope this helps!

Erzulie: The Spirit of Love and Beauty in Voodoo
Erzulie, or Ezili, is one of the most revered Loa (spirits) in Haitian Vodou, symbolizing love, beauty, femininity, and sensuality. She represents a range of female archetypes through her different manifestations, each with distinct traits and purposes.
https://ahavacelestialorder.org/erzulie-the-spirit-of-love-and-beauty-in-voodoo/
Manifestations of Erzulie
Erzulie Freda: The Loa of romantic love, beauty, luxury, and femininity, often compared to the Virgin Mary in Vodou syncretism. She is associated with wealth, jewelry, and indulgence, representing the ideal of feminine grace and beauty. However, Erzulie Freda is also linked to the pain of unattainable love, sometimes weeping because no love in the mortal realm can ever fully satisfy her divine desires. Offerings to Erzulie Freda include perfume, flowers, sweet cakes, and luxurious items, all representing her need for refinement and beauty.
Erzulie Dantor: Fiercely protective and maternal, Erzulie Dantor represents the strength of motherhood, protection, and justice. She is often depicted as a scarred warrior mother, embodying the spirit of the Haitian revolution. Erzulie Dantor is seen as the protector of women and children, especially single mothers, and is often associated with the Black Madonna. Her followers offer dark rum, pork, and hot peppers, symbolizing her fiery and protective nature.
Erzulie La Flambeau: Known for her fiery, destructive side, Erzulie La Flambeau is a more aggressive manifestation of Erzulie’s power. She is called upon in situations that require intense emotional strength, often involving revenge or retribution.

Role in Haitian Vodou
Erzulie is invoked for matters of love, romance, beauty, and even justice. Her multifaceted nature makes her one of the most powerful and beloved Loa in the Vodou pantheon. While her different aspects embody everything from love and sensuality to maternal protection and fiery vengeance, Erzulie’s overarching symbolism is tied to the power of women and the complexities of love and human emotions.

This is why you shouldn’t play with unfamiliar spells and spirits especially if you don’t know the origin. The moment he puts that tattoo on in his supposedly “love era “ I knew he had hades to pay. Ezili dantor doesn’t protect those who harm women and children.
You don’t have to be believing in those spirits, and voodoo and magic to know that. I’m a Christian and I know that.
