In West Virginian folklore, the Mothman is a humanoid creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area from November 15, 1966, to December 15, 1967. The first newspaper report was published in the Point Pleasant Register, dated November 16, 1966, titled "Couples See Man-Sized Bird ... Creature ... Something". The national press soon picked up the reports and helped spread the story across the United States. The source of the legend is believed to have originated from sightings of out-of-migration sandhill cranes or herons.

The creature was introduced to a wider audience by Gray Barker in 1970, and was later popularized by John Keel in his 1975 book The Mothman Prophecies, claiming that there were paranormal events related to the sightings, and a connection to the collapse of the Silver Bridge. The book was later adapted into a 2002 film, starring Richard Gere.

An annual festival in Point Pleasant is devoted to the Mothman legend.

Stropharia aeruginosa

Commonly known as the blue-green stropharia or verdigris agaric.

Another very pretty blue mushroom!

Stropharia aeruginosa can be found growing on rotting wood in  Europe, Iran and parts of North America. It is typically found in woodland and on roadsides.

Part of the genus Stropharia (or roundheads). As the mushroom ages its cap broadens and becomes umboate, which means it gaines a little round bump in the centre of its cap! Example of a verdigris agaric with an umbo on the left:

Young mushrooms (right) are vivid green/blue and are very slimy. As they age their colour fades and becomes yellow, this is usally found around the centre of the cap. The mushroom eventually loses all of its original pigment, here are some examples:

Weather the mushroom is edible is debated many guidebooks state that it is poisonous while according to others it is edible and has a mildly spicy taste.

There is little known about the effects of the mushroom if it is poisonous, or what sorts of toxins it contains.

there were tiring days, days in which he just wanted to sit around and do nothing else.

but as the hero he never got this luxury, even after his duties were done, he never considered this option to exist.

he bit his lips, hands moving around slower than his usual pace, overly conscious of the pair of eyes hovering over him.

“first, there's really no need to push yourself so much.” at your words he frowned, but fortunately you couldn't see his face.

“it's not-” he started, yet heard your steps moving the dry leaves on the floor, looking back at you, only to see you standing right in front of him.

“it's not what? not the time for this? not how a hero should behave? not what, link?” your hands closed around his face so softly, as if afraid to break him, hurt expression painting your face, as if it was you who was overexerting yourself.

his eyes lowered, as if mimicking your expression, but you knew that it was just his perfect facade crumbling apart.

clear blue eyes engulfed you whole, before closing as he lowered his head until it touched your shoulder.

“i'm sorry.” his voice was barely a whisper.

“there's no need for it... i was in the wrong too.”

“... is that offer for a hug still up?”

“always,” you answered, closing you arms around him comfortingly. “let's just take it easy today, yeah?”

he barely nodded, arms closing around your back.

but somehow, it was just when you came around that he truly understood he was also a person, and worthy resting as much as everyone else.

The Memory Hunters

scifi/fantasy set in a postapoc future US

follows a hunter - a woman who uses a certain kind of mushroom allows her to dive into memories from blood, collecting them for the institute she works for, and her bodyguard / best friend, who needs the job to care for her family in the storm-torn south

when they come across a site with memories that uncover secrets about the past and the hunter’s religion that diverge from the official accounts of history, it tests their relationship and causes them to question everything

Shrub is here! :D

Also yes, i know Shelby's Shrub skin had shoes but i wanted to embrace the hobbit inspo even more for my design. So the way im handling gnomes is that they grow moss or some sort of fungi on their feet in a similar way to how hobbits have hairy feet, also yes the moss grows on their skin, Shubble mentioned once that gnomes are part plant so figured i might take advantage of that 😁
