Checking how much of an unpopular opinion that is... 👀

I don't like the Forth Doctor. Actually I do actively dislike him and I'm struggling to finish his run (I'm at Leela in Victorian London now) 🙈

Everyone seems to love him and he's "the best Doctor" and they enjoy his weirdness and relationship with companions... But I find him scary, rude, unkind and dismissive, even towards his companions 🙈

I once had a dream about him, and he was standing right next to me, and I had to really look up to see his face and there he was, towering over me, smiling with too many teeth and huge eyes and damn, that was scary 🫥

I'm really looking forward to Five, but I don't want to skip Four and the struggle is real 😭

That's probably only me, but... Would appreciate your opinions, I'm open to you guys changing my mind about him, I do want to enjoy his run 😭

What about...

Shadowvanilla Human AU, where PV is a small town doctor and owns a clinic, that's like a combined human and animal clinic

Then a film crew rolls into town 'cos they're shooting a movie/series about idealized countryside life and romance, Smilk is the male lead of course

And Smilk is having an awful time with the bad wi-fi and filth and bad smells and he twists his ankle 'cos he slipped on sheep poop or something and he's taken to PV's clinic

And you can imagine the rest

Could add in a side plot about the clinic being low on funds, or Smilk only doing this project to try and save his dying career or salvage his reputation after a scandal. Like, he's known for being a diva and a rude asshole so his manager is like "soften your image by doing this wholesome puff piece"

Could have side ships like Black Sapphire and Silverbell where Black Sapphire is the sound guy and Silverbell is the town's florist (or whatever you think would suit him best), or Eternal Sugar and Hollyberry where Eternal Sugar is the female lead (or maybe Smilk's manager) and Hollyberry runs the town forge and/or is a badass hunter

Well? Doesn't it sound awesome~? I dunno if I'll write it so if any writers or artists get inspired feel free to run with this

Excerpt from Benjamin Cook’s Star Beast Set Visit in Doctor Who Magazine 597:

Will David be playing the new, Fourteenth Doctor differently? “Part of the fun is that you’re a Doctor that the audience – and the Doctor himself – recognises,” he says. “Even when it came to the costume, we thought, how do we make it immediately recognisable, and yet not be the same thing? Which felt impossible, but it actually came together quite brilliantly. I like the idea that people who aren’t paying close attention will think it’s the same costume, but the more educated fan will be interested in all the differences.” He gestures at the suit. “It’s a little more distressed than before.” Is that true of his performance too? “Well. Ha. Hmm. Inevitably it will be different, because… he is a different man. He’s older, I’m older, so I am coming at it from a different place. You never stick your foot in the same river twice, as they say.” Do they say that? “They do, yeah. I don’t know who they are, but they’re very wise. Also, Russell’s writing is a little bit different. It has a slightly different energy to it, I think. But what I’m not doing is spending a lot of time self-consciously finding different notes. If anything, I’ve spent the time trying to recapture that sense of what it was before, which I would say is probably what Russell has done in the writing of it, too.”
