considering that in the mcu the avengers are akin to celebrities i fear there could have been so much funny stuff that could have come from how we treat celebrities irl. ESPECIALLY THE OG 6. I FEEL LIKE IN THE MCU KNOWING ALL SIX ORIGINAL AVENGERS IS LIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEST MATERIAL. but anyways im talking like specifically celebrity scandals but over the stupid things.

for example yall know how sometimes people freak out when they realize that their favorite celebrities do drugs and stuff. like imagine a daily news headline or the beginning of a tumblr/twitter thread that is just like “steve rogers spotted wiping his nose after supposedly doing a line of c0ke with a 100 dollar bill during the avengers annual fourth of july bash” like come on u cannot tell me based on the age of ultron scenes that these hoes weren’t MESSY

I just finished watching The Old Guard (banger movie by the way, absolutely recommend if anyone’s been debating it), so naturally my brain went the route of Old Guard DBDA au. I don’t know any details; all I can think of so far is that Charles and Edwin are a pair of immortals that have been at it for a while together, and the timeline of the story starts with the appearance of a new immortal: Crystal. As for what’s beyond that, idk—are there other people on Charles’s and Edwin’s immortal team? Or are they just a duo? Idk if the immortality loss thing happens to either of them, I’m leaning towards no if it’s just the two of them… but like. It would fit SO well.

I’m already kind of envisioning that it’s just been Edwin and Charles, doing good and helping people from the shadows for decades (or maybe even centuries if we stretch out the timeline a bit); not a direct role-for-role cast replacement of the Old Guard, but more of an insertion into the story structure/world. Like, Edwin as the older of the two, having become immortal a while before Charles and almost immediately getting trapped and spending a canon-adjacent length of time being tortured for his abilities—then escaping a short while before Charles appears and he starts having dreams about him. Their deaths could even be similar to canon: Edwin gets sacrificed (literal sacrifice rather than a prank this time) or maybe even put to death for suspected homosexuality and comes back; Charles dies of hypothermia and internal bleeding after his “friends” turn on him, but he doesn’t STAY dead. Edwin has dreams of cold, and pain—utter impenetrable cold—and of an attic, and a lake, and he sees Charles’s face—he decides he has to find him.

Then Crystal comes around, and maybe she has a similar background to canon—maybe even with the memory loss? Like, her toxic ex-boyfriend kills her and she comes back without a bunch of her memories—some kind of complication with the process—and she gets them back gradually over the course of the story (probably as multiple deaths clear things up/shift things back to normal). When Charles and Edwin find her, there’s a lot of complicated emotions, stemming from—well, both of them wondering why NOW, why another one after probable centuries of it just being them, but where Edwin is resistant and standoffish (he doesnt trust new people this close, why did it have to change, their life was FINE as it was), Charles is excited to have a new person around!! Someone they won’t lose!! Someone like them!! And meanwhile Crystal is just,, fucking REELING from this and also maybe being stalked by her crazy power-hungry toxic ex-boyfriend who was maaaaybe in the government the whole time and dating her because her parents had whopping political status. It’s a lot.

Shit, maybe Esther could even be another immortal—one Edwin and Charles don’t know about; one that’s removed from the dream-connection somehow, or one that they haven’t been able to pin down/get clear enough memories from to realize it’s a whole other person and not just, like, them having weird dreams and shit. And maybe Esther LOSING her immortality correlates with Crystal gaining hers, and Esther tries to figure out a way to steal the boys’ immortality somehow to get hers back… or maybe she’s NOT an immortal, but more of a Merrick-type character that finds out about the immortals and wants to take their power for herself? Idk.

Last thing I’ve been thinking about is, I want Niko to be an immortal too… but is she an immortal from the start? Probably not. Maybe she’s a normal mortal girl they meet while dealing with Esther and all get really attached to, who then breaks everyone’s hearts by dying when she tries to help Crystal get the boys back from Esther, providing Crystal’s first big lesson about the futility of relationships with normal human beings (while still being worth the pain for the value of the love while its there)… UNTIL she comes to in her grave in Japan weeks or months later, and the inside of a coffin shows up in all of their dreams. Or something.

you know, that's a tough question, because i think there are two things that are simultaneously true about eiffel:

"a nice day for eiffel" and "planning" are not concepts that coexist

he loves to be the Guy with the Plan. he doesn't like organizing, he doesn't like it when he has to do something, he especially doesn't like schedules, but he enjoys coming up with a Crazy Idea.

also keep in mind that (excluding the booze) the things he misses most about earth are: cigarettes, pizza, sex, blackjack, porn, monster trucks, video on demand.

if he planned a nice day just for himself, i think that would be a day without any obligations: he sleeps in as late as he wants to, already has leftover pizza in the fridge he can eat cold for breakfast, lounges around in his underwear watching tv until he gets bored, and then maybe goes out and drives around until he finds something to do. but it has to be spontaneous.

if his plans include other people, there are some situations where i feel he could get carried away: a surprise birthday party, or a big date/anniversary, or if he gets to see his daughter again, he'd pull out all the stops for that. and then, because he's eiffel, he'd run into a million complications he didn't expect. but, also because he's eiffel, he's really good at thinking on his feet, rolling with the punches, and making something out of it anyway. that's something i like about him.

About Masked Empire's ending and the way it connects to the franchise, i agree on the notion it wasn't fully planned, but i should bring up something too is that originally Solas wasn't supposed to be like That and they mentioned that it's changing the casting that changed Solas. Originally they wanted to go with Richard Madden (best known for his work as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones) and give him more of a comedic tone. Tbh i think he was probably closer to Felassan than we got. He was also supposed to straight up lie a lot more. It's changing the casting to GDL that apparently changed the direction taken with Solas, because GDL put a lot more of this wise and sad weight in his tone that inspired them to depart from the comedy and ruthlessness they had in mind to go more into a territory of "man who must do what he must, even if it breaks his heart" Weekes mentioned how this new direction kinda clashed with TME, because TME was written with Madden!Solas in mind, and back then they imagined Solas to be the type to kill for minor disagreement. Tbh it's why i find it frustrating that even in VG they never really went in depth trying to reconcile why the new Solas would kill Felassan, even if we can make up theories about why. Tbh i think the Veil was always meant to fall and Solas was always meant to tear it down -- there's stuff about archdemons making the Veil weak from DAO and onward. But Solas seems to have gone through major character change from TME to DAI that probably adds to it. granted it's been years since i last read TME, so i dont remember it enough. But, food for thoughts.

i guess there's also the hypothetical impact that the veil might have on the titans? like if tearing it down wakes up the titans violently, and they start doing backflips or something out of shock, that might explain why he's so convinced that it'll be a mass death event but still wants to do it. but they ended up abandoning the titans and the implications that solas was trying to wake up ancient elves, so it's just all so vague 😭
