#Fall of Gondolin

I may need to retract my statement of drawing all the lords of Gondolin loll That's a lot of eldritch designs to draw! ^^;; But I'll still keep it on my to-do list as a goal to aim for XD

In the meantime, here's Lord Egalmoth with Huor as the lord shows off his fancy towers and views to the young one! I had a really strong image in my head of Egalmoth, given that his heraldry involves the rainbow, so I knew he was going to have layers of colourful cloth. He also has the specific jewels of his heraldry shaped as orbs hanging from his layers XD I really like how it all turned out!

Also!! As an eldritch-related note, I've started posting my not-safe-for-eyeballs doodles on AO3! If you'd like to see some Tuor/Idril action, or even some Finrod/Beor stuff, feel free to check it out! And feel free to share if you'd like to see any particular pairings; I can't guarantee I'll do them all, but I'll definitely add them to my list XD

Just when I think I'm done with my Silmarillion crashouts...

I find myself watching the Hobbit. In tears. All because Thorin poo poo's Orcrist and Glamdring.

He doesn't know the elves who weilded those blades lived in Gondolin. That the elves in Goldolin shared his greatest pain. They watched their beloved city burn. They were forced to flee. But they were never able to return.

...Why does it hurt so much??? 🥺

Glorfindel, Lord of the House of the Golden Flower

I used the same general design I've used for him before. Lots of gold and floral motifs. I wanted a flowing sense in his clothing and I wanted to make him look like he was dancing as much as fighting.

Glorfindel felt like a nice choice for the New Year.

hi hello!! thanks so much for the request! i went w maeglin bc i love him and wanted to take the opportunity to draw him in something other than my usual black-and-gold for him. i was tempted to go white to match aredhel but it didn't look right so grey it was!

In which Idril tries to play hide and seek with a homesick Hurin! I don't know why, but I recently got the urge to draw the eldritch Gondolin crowd one-on-one with the boys ... We'll see if I can actually pull it off or not XD

Back to the painting, I imagine Hurin was hiding out in the king's gardens, feeling kinda depressed about the prospect of never returning home again, and then Idril snuck up on him! She's not actually that tall btw; either she's on a raised level or Hurin is going down some stone steps loll Nothing like a big eldritch princess to snap you out of your thoughts hahaa

man i've spent so much time on this, working on an art piece for more than 20 minutes is hard enough, THIS ONE TOOK MORE THAN A WEEK and it still feels as if there's a lot more to be done. For now I'll just leave it as it is. "...and bare of head climbed to the topmost pinnacle of that white tower that stood nigh his palace. First day of not having school!! Celebrated by drawing these two creatures in armor and battle hair😌😌

One of them likes ornaments a little more than practicality, the other likes sharp objects. Both die.

Raw sketch of Glorfindel. The helmet totally inspired by Alan Lee's illustration. The armor piece was inspired by flower petals, I think it looks ugly. But however this is just the beginning, I'm still trying to invent a more believable-looking armor. More updates soon

Then Eöl looked into the eyes of King Turgon, and he was not daunted, but stood long without word or movement while a still silence fell upon the hall; and Aredhel was afraid, knowing that he was perilous. Suddenly, swift as serpent, he seized a javelin that he held hid beneath his cloak and cast it at Maeglin, crying:

'The second choice I take and for my son also! You shall not hold what is mine!'

But Aredhel sprang before the dart, and it smote her in the shoulder; and Eöl was overborne by many and set in bonds, and led away, while others tended Aredhel. But Maeglin looking upon his father was silent.
