Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Tony Stark’s Daughter (Reader)

Summary: Your relationship with Bucky Barnes is the best thing that’s ever happened to you—but it seems not everyone approves of your bond.

From the moment you met Bucky, everything started to make sense. He was quiet, mysterious, but sweet in a subtle way. He listened to you like every word mattered. He was the kind of man who fit everything you ever dreamed of—strong, loyal, protective… and yet full of a tenderness he kept hidden beneath layers of invisible scars. There was no doubt that he loved you. He would do anything for you. And you, for him.

At the compound, everyone knew. And most were happy for you both. Everyone... except your father.

Tony Stark never approved of the relationship. He was never direct, but you noticed it. The way he clenched his jaw when Bucky entered a room. The cold stares. The passive-aggressive comments. As if your boyfriend was a ticking time bomb no one else could see. As if the Winter Soldier could awaken at any second.

And one afternoon, he finally exploded.

—“You’re dating him!?” he shouted in the lab, like it was a personal betrayal. —“Yes. I love him, Dad,” you said firmly, your heart pounding in your chest. “And you have to accept it. You can’t change what we feel. I’m sorry, but he’s my boyfriend. And he deserves respect. I won’t let you talk about him like that.”

You were angry. Not just at what he said, but what it implied. Tony was your father. Your hero. Your biggest inspiration. But sometimes, when he set his mind on something, he became impossible.

—“You don’t understand the danger of being with someone like him,” he growled, teeth clenched, as if trying to protect and hurt you at the same time. “He’s a monster. He doesn’t deserve you. Just let me make you understand...” He stepped closer, trying to reason with you. But you stepped back.

—“Maybe Bucky has a terrible past,” you said, your voice trembling but steady. “But that doesn’t define who he is. Especially not who he is with me. Dad, drop your prejudice and see the truth. He’s a good man. And I forbid you to talk about him like that again.”

Your words hung in the air—sharp and heavy. Tony said nothing else. He just looked at you, disappointed. And you walked away.

That night, you couldn’t sleep. You sat on your bed, still, silent, thoughts storming through your mind. It hurt that your father didn’t understand. But it hurt more thinking about how it might affect Bucky.

He already carried so much. So much guilt, so many dark memories. Every day he fought to escape what he had been. To be better—for you. And now, he had to carry the weight of your father's judgment too.

You didn’t know how long you'd been sitting there, lost in thought, until the door opened gently.

—“Doll...” Bucky’s deep, soft voice broke the silence. He saw you sitting there, staring blankly, unmoving. His brows furrowed in worry as he walked quietly to the bed.

—“Are you okay?” he whispered, placing his hand on your shoulder.

Your body reacted to his touch, like coming back to reality. You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.

—“Yeah… yeah, I’m okay,” you said automatically.

But he knew you weren’t. He saw it in your eyes. He knew you better than anyone. He sat beside you in silence, waiting for you to speak. His presence calmed you. And after a few seconds, you said it all.

—“I can’t stand the way he looks at you. How he talks about you like you’re nothing. It’s not fair, Bucky. You’ve done so much to change. You’ve fought so hard with yourself… and still, people won’t give you a chance. Not even my dad.”

Your eyes filled with tears, but you didn’t cry. You clenched your fists in quiet anger.

—“He doesn’t see how you hold me through nightmares. He doesn’t know how gentle you are, how you listen to me, how you try every day to be better. He only sees a monster. But I don’t. I see the man I love.”

Bucky swallowed hard, lowering his head, as if your words both shattered and healed him.

—“Sometimes I feel like I’ll never be enough,” he murmured. “That no matter what I do, they’ll always see the killer… the weapon.”

—“I don’t see that. And I never will. And I won’t let them break you, Bucky. Not while I’m here. You’ll never be alone, do you hear me? Never.”

He looked at you. His eyes glistened with emotion. He didn’t say a word, but you felt everything in the way he cupped your face in his hands—with the deepest tenderness in the world.

—“I don’t know how I got lucky enough to find you,” he whispered with a cracked smile. “But I swear, doll… every day with you makes me want to keep becoming someone better.”

And you hugged him. Tightly. As if your embrace could shield him from the world. Because he wasn’t the monster.

He was the survivor. And you… were his home.

🧦📚🖖✨ Happy 25th of May — Geek Pride Day, Towel Day, and a Celebration of Imagination!

Today we celebrate a little bit of everything. Star Wars, Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Geek Pride Day, Reader Pride Day… and what’s beautiful is that they don’t clash. They don’t compete. They accumulate.

Because that’s what happens when you create imaginary worlds: you end up building real communities.

📖 When we first fall in love with a story, when a character makes us feel more seen than any real person ever has, it usually happens in solitude. In a quiet room, in soft lighting, on a rainy afternoon or under an endless summer sky — that first connection is intimate. Private. Almost secret.

And then… you go looking for others. And you find them.

🎮👾 Over time, the worlds that once felt like personal sanctuaries become shared gathering spaces. It doesn’t matter if you started with Harry Potter, Marvel, One Piece, Star Trek, Terry Pratchett, Final Fantasy, Doctor Who or Dragon Age. What matters is that each one opened a portal. And on the other side, there weren’t just dragons or starships: there were people like you.

And that, for me, changed everything.

Because I wasn’t quite “weird enough” for any urban tribe, nor “normal enough” to blend in. My teenage years felt dull on the outside, eccentric on the inside. I never really fit in at school. But books, games, forums, fanfics, and films offered me an alternative home. An imaginary one. An immense one.

🌍✨ I imagined my place in the world — and in doing so, I found it.

And I’ve never really stopped. I keep writing, rereading, sharing, gaming, theorising, falling in love with impossible characters and recognising myself in real people. People who were also saved by a world that doesn’t exist. People who turn imagination into something shared.

💫 Today, I celebrate that. I celebrate the kind of community that forms when someone says: “You like this too?”

Because in that moment, it’s no longer just yours — it becomes ours.
