Need help Refining my IMM fur card system
long time no post! I've been tinkering off and on on a system that uses Zbrush's IMM brushes to place premade clusters of haircards with different UV cells in arrangements so that I can have my models be fluffy and customizable in texture without looking repetitive! the premade floofs I have made are looking great when rendered but when put together, despite having great coverage! it becomes splotchy and blegh... I have no idea how to fix/refine this into something usable and so I am reaching out to the internet for advice/help! for more details please see my Reddit post on the same subject here! https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dmodeling/duplicates/1amegk0/fur_cards/ if anyone would like to nab a copy of the IMM brush that I'm working on and try fiddling with/fixing it please don't hesitate to reach out!

I need to figure out how tf you install mods on BG3 (for after my main campaign) coz I just found a trans masc teif mod and I might try and make my butterfly bard Morpho for my second game 🥺🥺🥺
They're built for pathfinder but I imagine bringing them across to 5e would be way easy
I dont know how, but I could easily sculpt their hair in fibermesh in zbrush too and export that.... unfortunately I dont know the first thing about modding tho, just the "how to make things pretty" side lmao
Now to find a hoof mod lmao

Made a sculpt of my Tav, didn't want to fight with fibermesh in Zbrush for the hair, so I stuck with a bit of a janky solid sculpt for that. Anyway if you're curious about her, you can check out this write-up ~here~.

My latest sculpture for class, and I decided to do Levi. Inspired by my favourite painting of him. The whole thing is sculpted by hand and vertex paint done in ZBrush, it's a little fuzzy but that's just because didn't subdivide him to all hell before painting- my bad I guess! His hair is questionable (first time using fibermesh), though the render looks decent, I still decided to overpaint it a little. The actual material is flat and unlit, and all of the shading is painted, which was a last minute decision but one I am very happy with.
Here's a lil gif of the actual model:
And here's the original painting in comparison to the sculpture:

"Anatomy practice 2"
Having taken a day break and having a fresher mind, I restarted my head sculpt. However, this time I had some references of a face that I quite liked made by Jie Ming You.
Fig.1: Face references by Jie Ming You
I applied all the knowledge I learnt from the tutorials and tried to recreate a face similar to that of the reference. I would say I was much happier with this second attempt, with how the sculpt was turning out as it looked cleaner, more polished and realistic.
Fig.2: Second attempt at sculpting
I also tried out the noise feature in Zbrush in order to create the pores for the skin to make it look more realistic. Having done the main form, I kept on polishing and tweaking the parts to match it more closely to the features of the reference.
Fig.3: More polishing
Another feature I got to try out for the first time Zbrush was using Fibermesh to create the eyebrows and eyelashes. I feel that for eyebrows Fibermesh is good enough as it can creat bulks of hair follicles easily. However, eyelashes are more sparsed, longer and sharper, and Fibermesh was not really the best for that.Ideally, eyelashes would be done using hair cards. Nonetheless, I was satisfied with the results, and the bottom row of figure 3 were the sculpts I showed to Neil and the class

Mastering FiberMesh: Elevate Your ZBrush Creations with Realistic Hair and Fur
Creating realistic hair, fur, or grass in ZBrush can significantly enhance your models. FiberMesh is the perfect tool for this task. Here’s a simple guide to get you started.
What is FiberMesh?
FiberMesh is a tool in ZBrush that generates fibrous surfaces, like hair and fur, directly on your models.
How to Use FiberMesh
Activate FiberMesh:
Go to the Tool palette.
Select the subtool you want to add fibers to.
Click on FiberMesh and then Preview to see the initial fibers.
Adjust Fiber Settings:
Length: Control the length of the fibers.
Density: Adjust how many fibers are generated.
Coverage: Determine how much of the surface is covered with fibers.
Thickness: Set the thickness of the fibers.
Grooming and Styling:
Use grooming brushes like GroomHairLong, GroomTurbulence, and Move to style the fibers.
Experiment with different brushes to achieve natural looks.
Apply Materials:
Assign different materials to your fibers to achieve various effects, such as shiny hair or rough fur.
Convert to Geometry:
Once satisfied, convert the FiberMesh fibers to geometry for further sculpting or exporting.
Tips and Tricks
Use Polygroups: Work with polygroups to better control the areas where fibers are applied.
Layer Fibers: Create multiple FiberMesh subtools for different types of fibers and densities.
Keep It Light: Manage fiber count to keep your project efficient and manageable.
Applications
Character Hair and Fur: Add realistic hair or fur to characters.
Environmental Details: Use FiberMesh for grass, moss, or other fibrous environmental details.
Conclusion
FiberMesh is a powerful tool in ZBrush that allows you to add intricate fibrous details to your models. With a bit of practice, you can create stunning, realistic hair and fur that bring your characters and scenes to life.
Now, you’re ready to start experimenting with FiberMesh and take your ZBrush creations to the next level!

Modelling and animating the creatures mossy body I knew this would be difficult when i was designing, yet decided to go with the idea anyway
I'm going through a bunch on videos to see what method and process i should consider carrying out I could use the zbrush fibermesh, I'm not sure how that'll get simulated on blender, which i will have to test out, or make the entire mesh and simulation on blender with only half of the creature done in zbrush. The easiest method would be modelling or sculpting something that looks akin to moss, but more cartoony, and not have any simulation work on them and let them just be solid, I'll keep that as the final option tho.

Meanwhile continued sculpting details onto the rhino model. Wanted to add some hair to ears as per references. Started exploring new techniques and came across this technique called fibermesh. I was extremely fascinated with the results.

SHE'S SO FLUFFY!!!
YEE! I finally managed to craft some half decent wool during a 6 hour Zbrush session mucking about with fibermesh and hair cards! cept I forgot to show the bell in the Zbrush pics...FFS...oh well! least I got a good test render! (I made the haircard texture myself!)
Rather pleased with how she's turning out despite the fact I KNOW I'm gonna hate rigging her!
