Everyone is talking about trad wives and I am just silent because trad wives are not a trend here but still a part of the norm.
#i spoke against trad wives only once in reference to a former student who gave up on college and her career for a man#she git married moved to the country side and had a baby with a guy from prehistoric age#and i was very criticised by a friend who told me that i romanticise work and that women can be happy even when depending on men#ofc this came after she got fired and her ex offered to support her financial if they got back together and then told her to have his baby#so that he could support her for the rest of her life#do i have something against trad wives? no as long as they still have some independence left#but i do have something against alice's husband and adriana

what is it about my dads house that makes me want to end it all
#answer is so many things#the main thing thats pissing me off at the moment is that#over christmas he was on a rant about financial issues#he's always been stingy and weird about money but he was fully crying and telling me about debt and overdrafts etc#i dont want to remember the details#but obviously i believed him#it lined up with me suddenly getting given the max student loan after preciously getting the minimum#plus a bursary that you only get if your parents are under the low income bracket#so when he told me all that i sarted trying to figure out how much of my loan i could give to him whilst still managing at uni#and it confirmed my decision to drop out and only do the bachelors#because i thought he wouldn't be able to help me through another year of uni#and i'd have to work to stay with him (like i will with my mum)#anyway. i get back for easter holidays#everything is overshadowed by my cat dying ofc#but he has bought a motorbike JDBDJDJ#he's getting loads of work done on the house#he was fine to pay for the cat's cremation despite me offering a thousand times to cover it#he's still stingy but generally acting like he does have the money that his engineering job would provide#the motorbike was . a slap in the face#like Ok i dropped out of uni because i thought both my parents were financially incapable of supporting me if i didn't start working soon#my mum DEFINITELY is#when i tried to tell my dad that over christmas he shouted over me and tried to claim she's loaded#.... lmao. she is the one who's under the low income bracket#yet he just didn't believe me#:/#i shouldn't be ranting about this#publically hdndjdndj#haven't been venting in a while 😭😭😭😭#there are plenty of other things eating me up about him#but this is the one i can't stop thinking about at the moment

urgent rent assistance for a grad student <3
hi everyone, i am in a tough spot right now. and in need of $180 due to unexpected fees being added to my rent. it was added after i was told my fees would be waived. the apartment complex told me they "miscommunicated," and the fee remains. they will not budge on it.
i've been urgently looking for off campus housing, since i wasn't able to secure off-campus housing (which would've eliminated any issue im having right now).
however, money overall is tight. i have a graduate stipend that would allow me to afford most standard student apartments, but the issue is it doesn't disburse until after my first month of rent is due. so i've been trying to budget as best as i can. i have a part-time job as well, which is somewhat helpful but nowhere near sustainable on its own.
i was able to search for a lease takeover that was affordable enough. i found a lease to take over from someone who gave me a partial discount of $300 on the first month, thankfully. My rent is $990. I have asked for an emergency student loan with the financial aid office at my university to cover $500, and my stipend and scholarships can pay that back. so that would cover $800, and my part-time just can just cover the rest to meet $990. however, as i mentioned earlier, they added that $180 fee back to my balance.
i have tried various options including asking for leniency in paying rent since i have confirmed financial aid on the way (since it's a student apartment) but they won't allow it. the best they've offered is moving in after i receive the finances so my lease and room is secure but i won't receive keys until i have the money, but that would leave weeks without a place to stay. but that would honestly just end up costing more than paying the fees and completely paying the rent.
i have tried numerous other options, for example, the emergency student loan but it only covers so much. i have tried freelancing as a writer and web developer to help, but i've had no luck. i've also, of course, tried explaining the situation to this apartment (as well as about six other before this) and haven't been able to have anything resolved.
i would truly appreciate any help. i really need to pay this off or i will have nowhere to live in time for school which would lead to not even receiving my stipend altogether (my income for the year). it's an unfortunate domino affect.
my ko-fi is: https://ko-fi.com/cypresshasit
i am thankful for any help, and thank you for reading this post regardless. if you can't support, i would appreciate a reblog.
i've also attached the charge on my resident portal (with personal information obscured):

Question, is there a way I can file complaints against FAFSA because this is the dumbest bullshit in the world
#it's asking-- no REQUIRING my dad's financial information#and that information will determine how much money I receive to cover college#but i Do Not Live With My Dad. He Provides No Financial Support.#the only ways around this are 1) if I have a court recognized legal guardian (i don't. i am a legal adult.)#or 2) if my family situation is of ''unusual circumstance''#i COULD apply for that since my mom passed away a few years ago BUT! only if i couldn't get a hold of my dad! which i can!#i just don't live with him! i never had! my parents never married!#the kicker here is that the financial information is only required for students under 24#??????? yeah i don't fucking know why either- neither did the school counselor#despite me living with my grandparents I am marked on all of my legal documents as my own household because I Legally Am.#i'm gonna fucking eat concrete#xen.speaks

I think one of my biggest fantasies in life is being able to live somewhere/with someone that I can come and go as I please. Have my own car, not have to rely on other people or explain why I can’t be home of take care of people/the dog/etc. at all time. People think I’m greedy for wanting a well-paying job but having to take care of people you’re dependant on is really shitty and money would 100% solve this problem.
#such is life#I look forward to finally getting my drivers lisence#my mom only let me practice because I convinced her it benefits her#I have a grad student scholarship that's ending and no idea where more money is coming from#I mean I am ta-ing but I'm not earning enough to pay rent somewhere#and I have a dog to take care of#I love daisy but she's a lot of work#and my mom is pretty useless#so she needs me to do nearly 100% of the work#I'm 30 why is it so hard to leave#I have no external support#why can't one person in my actual life see that my home life is shitty and help me get independence rather than just make fun of me#I'm tired of being a caregiver to someone who should have raised me#I never got to be a teenager so I don't know how to have fun so I have to pretend or people don't like me#if I've learned anything it's that all love is conditional#if you think otherwise you just don't know what the conditions are#sorry for ranting I just don't have another place I can be honest about stuff#this is a roundabout argument for ubi I guess?#having the means for financial independence and a social safety net should be someone everyone has#I know a lot of people have it much worse too#I guess this is why I need to find a good partner and create a version of myself that is appealing to them#I would kill to be loved for who I am when I'm not making myself into things but I also gotta live#and these things don't go together

Ough yes time to share my most unwise purchase, my offering to the textiles inside my brain:

Ten piece wool. I am basically only qualified to do stocking stitch. I have had this for over two months.
I did get it for like. £15 in a closing sale though so. Worth it probably.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but
YOU DO NOT NEED TO START A NEW HOBBY!
STEP AWAY FROM THE TEXTILES!
YOU DON'T NEED MORE YARN!
THAT FABRIC IS NOT CALLING TO YOU! LEAVE IT ALONE!

How Study Abroad Consultants in Kolkata Help You Navigate the US Visa Process?

Studying abroad, especially in the United States, is a dream for many students. However, the journey to studying in the US doesn’t end with an acceptance letter. One of the most critical steps in this process is securing a student visa. This is where Study Abroad Consultants in Kolkata play a pivotal role. With their expertise and experience, they guide students through the complex US visa application process, ensuring that everything is in order for a smooth transition to their dream university.
Understanding the US Visa Requirements
The first step to obtaining a US student visa is understanding the requirements, which can often be overwhelming. Study Abroad Consultants in Kolkata provide students with the most up-to-date information on the visa application process. They ensure that students have all the necessary documents, including proof of financial support, university acceptance letters, and visa forms. The consultants help students understand the visa categories, such as the F-1 student visa, which is the most common for those pursuing studies in the US.
Document Preparation and Guidance
A significant part of the US visa application involves the submission of documents. Study Abroad Consultants in Kolkata assist students in preparing these documents in the correct format. This includes financial statements, passport-sized photographs, and a properly filled DS-160 form, among others. The consultants ensure that each document is correctly prepared, minimizing the risk of delays or rejection during the visa interview.
Visa Interview Coaching
One of the most important parts of the visa process is the visa interview at the US embassy. For many students, this can be intimidating. However, with the guidance of foreign education consultants in Kolkata, students are well-prepared for the interview. These consultants offer mock interview sessions, helping students practice answering common questions and providing tips on how to present themselves confidently. Their insights into what the consular officer is looking for are invaluable in making a positive impression during the interview.
Overcoming Common Visa Challenges
Many students face challenges during the visa application process, such as insufficient funds or lack of clarity regarding the university’s program. Top study abroad consultants in Kolkata help students address these concerns effectively. If there is a need to demonstrate stronger financial backing or clarify academic intentions, these consultants help students gather the right evidence and documentation to strengthen their visa application.
Timely Application Submission
The visa process involves strict deadlines, and missing one can result in significant delays or missed opportunities. Study Abroad Consultants in Kolkata are well-versed in the timelines and ensure that all documents are submitted on time. Their meticulous planning and prompt action ensure that students don’t miss important deadlines, which could otherwise jeopardize their chances of studying in the US.
Visa Approval Tracking
Once the visa application is submitted, the process doesn’t end there. Foreign education consultants in Kolkata also keep students informed about the progress of their visa application. They track the status of the application, ensuring that any additional documentation or interviews required by the embassy are promptly addressed. This ensures that students don’t experience unnecessary delays or confusion.
Conclusion

UCAS Application Fee Waivers: Who Qualifies in 2025?
Applying to universities in the UK is an exciting yet overwhelming process. For students facing financial challenges, the UCAS application fee 2025 might feel like an additional burden. However, there are ways to ease this expense. UCAS and other organizations provide fee waivers and financial support for eligible students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder academic aspirations.
Wondering how to make your application process affordable? Check out this comprehensive guide: UCAS application fee 2025.
Understanding the UCAS Application Fee for 2025
Before diving into fee waivers, here’s a quick recap of the standard UCAS application fees:
Single Choice Application: £27.50
Multiple Choice Application (up to 5 courses): £37.50
While these fees are relatively modest compared to other costs, such as visa applications or travel, they can still pose a challenge for some students. Thankfully, UCAS fee waivers exist to help!
Who Qualifies for a UCAS Application Fee Waiver in 2025?
Fee waivers are available to ensure equitable access to higher education for students from underprivileged backgrounds. Here are the eligibility criteria for UCAS fee waivers in 2025:
1. Students Receiving Financial Assistance
If you or your family already receive government financial support, you may qualify for a fee waiver. Examples include:
Universal Credit or Income Support
Free School Meals (FSM) eligibility
Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction
2. Students in Care or Care Leavers
UCAS often waives the application fee for students who are:
Currently in foster care
Care leavers under 25 years old
3. Low-Income Households
Students from households with a total income below a certain threshold (e.g., £25,000 annually) may also qualify. Be prepared to provide supporting documents such as tax returns or income statements.
4. International Students from Developing Countries
For students from developing or low-income countries, some UK universities may sponsor the application fee. You’ll need to reach out to specific institutions for details.
5. Disability or Special Needs Students
If you have a disability and face financial hardship, additional support may be available. UCAS or related organizations might extend waivers based on your circumstances.
How to Apply for a Fee Waiver
Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying for a UCAS fee waiver:
Contact Your School or College Most fee waivers are facilitated through your school or college. Speak to your school counselor or career advisor to verify your eligibility and initiate the process.
Reach Out to UCAS Directly If you’re applying independently, you can contact UCAS customer service to inquire about fee waivers. Be ready to provide relevant documentation supporting your financial situation.
Explore University-Specific Waivers Some universities offer to reimburse the UCAS fee for students who meet their specific eligibility requirements. Contact the admissions office of the universities you’re applying to and inquire about financial assistance.
Seek Help from Charitable Organizations Charities like the Sutton Trust and the Scholarship Hub often assist students with limited resources. They can guide you on obtaining fee waivers or other funding opportunities.
Financial Support Beyond Fee Waivers
In addition to waiving the UCAS application fee, students can access other forms of financial support:
Scholarships and Grants
Most UK universities offer scholarships for international and domestic students. These can significantly reduce your overall financial burden.
Student Loans
For domestic students, applying for government-funded student loans can help cover tuition fees and living expenses.
Crowdfunding Platforms
Many students successfully raise funds for their education through crowdfunding platforms. Sharing your story on platforms like GoFundMe can bring in additional support.
Tips for Students Applying for Fee Waivers
Start Early Fee waivers can take time to process. Begin your application process well before the UCAS deadline to avoid delays.
Keep Documents Ready Gather necessary documents, such as proof of financial hardship, to streamline your waiver application.
Be Proactive Reach out to your school, universities, or charitable organizations early to understand all your options.
Leverage Resources Utilize UCAS resources like their help center, forums, and guides to clarify your doubts about fee waivers and applications.
Conclusion: Don’t Let Finances Hold You Back
The UCAS application fee 2025 is a gateway to exciting opportunities, but it doesn’t have to be a barrier for students facing financial difficulties. Fee waivers, financial aid, and additional support systems are designed to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to pursue higher education in the UK.
If you’re eligible for a fee waiver, don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Start your journey today by learning more here: UCAS application fee 2025.
Remember, your potential isn’t defined by your financial situation. With the right guidance and support, you can achieve your academic dreams and unlock a brighter future.
