I'm still obsessed with Jekyll & Hyde and since I have no one irl to speak about it, I'm coming back to ramble way too much about it here.

(Warning: I wrote it at least a month ago, for several days and I literally wrote everything that went through my head because I thought it was funny. It may not be, idk, anyway you have been warned now.)

Let's talk about Lisa/Emma from the musical! (I call her Lisa for the rest of the post.)

Firstly, I find extremely funny that the musical's creators decided to make Jekyll marry the daughter of the only man Hyde killed in the book, and also their decision to make Hyde kill a whole lot of people, but not this one who is canonically killed, is hilarious.

In my other Jekyll & Hyde post, I said that Lisa is a queen, and I will die on that hill, even if at the time I hadn't exactly listened closely to her songs's lyrics. Now I have, so I hope what I say will be more accurate!

Let's get the obvious out the way: yes, Lisa's whole character has been created to be one of Jekyll's love interest. Yes, that restrain her possible evolution. Yes, it can make her character seem dull and flat, especially considering Lucy, another original character of the musical and also love interest of Jekyll, whose backstory is way more complex (at first glance at least).

But you guessed it, I really like Lisa, Carolee Carmello has the voice of an angel, and thus I won't let her be a dull and flat character.

To get started, I think Lisa Carrew is a really interesting figure of a woman from the upper class of the 19th century (although probably not an accurate one). She fit perfectly in the picture we have of the perfect woman: she's kind, patient and supportive of her husband-to-be's dream. At first, we could have expect her to not have any dream herself, which is proven wrong in her very first song the show : she says herself in Possessed "But I, too, have dreams! Maybe not as grand as yours or hard to understand as yours but nonetheless my dreams!". The problem here is that we don't know what these dreams are, and a way to fill the blank could be to say that she want to be married to Jekyll and to found a family with him. The foremost is clearly right, but the later we can't be sure of. Frankly we can make imagine everything: maybe she wants to travel the world, maybe she wants to be rich, maybe she wants a good reputation, maybe she wants to work with Jekyll, maye she wants to take care of a houshold, maybe she wants to become a lawyer or anything really. (Most of these possibilities are trash, I know, don't worry). What I mean is, we have almost no way to know more about Lisa's expectation in life when only listening to the Original Concept Recording (like me).

But there's one song that is enough to brought this almost bland character we know nothing about to a whole other level: and this song my friends, is Lisa Carew.

(Surprising that we learn the most about her in the song that bears her name, isn't it?)

In this song, Lisa is discussing with Simon Stride, who is obviously in love with Lisa (or at least want to have her for himself) and hates Jekyll with his whole heart. Not so surprinsingly, he tries to convince her that she is wasting her life and that she really shouldn't marry Jekyll, because 'he's not right for you, you can do so much better than that (me for example)' and yada yada.

Lisa's first answers as his little tantrum is to say that she is an adult woman who makes her own choice freely and thus he has no say to what she does. (To which I would say: Go for it girl! You tell him!) We also learn that she has lost her mother at a young age and that her father would rather keep her safe with him all his life. At which she says, 'nope! I'll go live my life, dad'. Also she tells Stride that he is certainly not her father and that she won't accept his patronizing, because she doesn't need him, thank you very much.

Let's talk about how she puts Stride in his place now! Man, the gut she's got for turning him off like that! She's very clear: no means no Sir. And the coldness with she address him! She couldn't have been more obvious when she pushes him away. At the end of the song, it's not even 'Simon' like in her first verse, it's only 'Sir', and frankly Simon, you're dense if you don't understand that she doesn't want you. And he is, of course he is. Or he just doesn't care. Which isn't better, let's admit it.

We have two important ideas here: Lisa wants to be free, she wants to do what she wants to do, and she doesn't depend on anyone to make her own choices. And that's where she is really interesting for an upper class woman of the 19th century: for a woman, being able to choose what life she will have and with who isn't a given. (That's probably where you see that Sire Carew is a good dad.)

Also in this song she says "In Henry's eyes, I see what I am meant to be", which is probably a forshadowing of the song In His Eyes, and we love foreshadowing here, so let me tell what I want even if it's completely unrelated with the topic. That's my post, no one will read it, I'm saying what I want. Na.

But this verse is also interesting, because she seems to find a meaning in life in Henry, which is probably something I have to dwell on.

I should really start to stop writing this in several days and write in one go instead because the more I think, the more I realise that I may be wrong on a lot of things about Lisa. Which is fine! She's still a character I love.

Because now, after literally three days of writing this post instead of writing something about my Gravity Falls AU, I have something to say about Lisa's love for Jekyll, rather than just "yes, Lisa really loves Jekyll, and that's really sweet but I have nothing to say about that." Which is sad considering I'm actively trying to write a whole ass essay about her character.

I have realised that she is just as obsessed as her dear Jekyll. Only, she isn't obsessed with a project, with a dream, she's obsessed with Jekyll. Which is obvious, probably.

I won't make a review of all her songs, because they are without a doubt all about her love for Henry Jekyll, and maybe that's enough to prove she's obsessed, but like I said before, her character has been created to be in love with Jekyll. What's interest me now is how it can be read as an obsession. So let's see the lyrics that tends to show this obsession:

‌In Possessed, she says "I live to see that dream come true, My world consists of it and you". So yes, in this song she tries to make Jekyll see that she has needs too (and that's something she's right to do and that he needs to hear), but she also says that her whole world turns around Jekyll.

‌In Lisa Carew of course, she says "In Henry's eyes, I see what I am meant to be!", so she finds a meaning of life in Jekyll, in Jekyll love for her and in her love for him.

‌Okay, there's less line like these one than I though. Maybe she isn't so obsessed. But still, in the song In his eyes, we learn that she is well aware that Jekyll can be dangerous, that he can lie to her, that she should probably turn away and find someone else. But she doesn't, because she loves him. "Everything worth living for Is there, in his eyes!" For me that sounds like someone who is aware of their obsession and who willingly chooses to ignore that it could very well not be pretty in the end.

She is less obsessed than Jekyll, that's for sure. She can still have an obsession for him. But that's also because her obsession is less powerful that she survives at the end, even if it's Jekyll who gives her a reason to live.

But that's also support my original idea, the very reason I wanted to write this post: Lisa may be in love with Jekyll because of the freedom he gives her.

Remember, in Lisa Carew, she somehow describes her father like an overprotective one, and Mr. Carew admit himself in Letting Go that letting her go is "the last thing in life [he]'ll ever want[s] to do". Getting married is a way for her to become free, and she can't stress enough to Stride that she's not a "weak young thing" nor "someone seventeen, obedient and sweet".  Jekyll in this aspect is the perfect opposite of Stride: he have absolutely no interest in controlling Lisa, honestly he just wants her to let him pursuing his experiments. And if Lisa wasn't so in love with him, she could see how much time and freedom he would let her have! I think he would give her the attention she seeks too (when he's not absorbed by his research), but he won't be breathing behind her back and spying on everything she does like Stride would probably have.

That's probably cruel of me to say that, but at the end of the show, she is married, so she isn't under her father's guardiandship, and since Jekyll just died, she isn't under his guardianship either. She is as free as a woman from the 19th century can be. Her dream to live with her loved one is now inacheavable, but she is finally free. And I headcanon that having this freedom is one of the dreams she's talking about in Possessed.

This could be the end of my little meaningless essay. But no! There's always more to say.

In term of symbolism, I think Lisa is the only character of the whole show who doesn't wear a façade.

And when you think ot it, it's probably what makes her character so interesting. In this society, appearance are everything, no one can show their true self without being immediatly eaten by other, people are divided into two side of the same coin, their true selves and the persona they have created for everyone else to see. It's the very theme of the show, the very thing that Jekyll is trying to destroy. And yet, even he wears a façade, even he doesn't say what he thinks of people like Stride when in public (as we can see in The Engagement Party).

Maybe Utterson doesn't wear a façade either, but we know too little about him to know for sure. At least, dealing with hypocrites doesn't seem to set him off. In The Engagement Party again, he seems like a fisch in water (or at least he's not the one who brings about a dramatic change in the music.)

Lisa on the other hand, is always very clear about what she wants and about what she thinks of people's actions. She says repeatedly that she wants to marry Jekyll, that she loves him and that she will defend him until the end. She says very clearly that she won't change her mind and that nobody, not even her father, can make her. She doesn't sugarcoat Stride when she pushes him away: she finds him boring, and she tells him. She finds her father unjust with Jekyll in Your work and nothing more and she calls him unkind. Not once in the whole show she appears like something she's not. Even in The Wedding Reception she doesn't hide her fears, and she stays true to her conviction that Jekyll is here and that he wouldn't hurt her, that he wouldn't kill her.

In the end of the day, Lisa is a strong woman who seeks freedom, love and belongong. She thought she had found it in the person of Jekyll, which explains her unwavering faith in him. And until the very end, she is the only one who stays true to her faith, and to herself in the process.

THE WISEWOMAN (roman reigns ff) <chapter 5>

Sophia's POV

After the show was over, a big part of the roster came to congratulate me. My friends Samantha, Tiffany and Bianca. Also the boss, Triple H seemed very impressed. Nobody has expected me to be this good and on my first ever televised live show.

As of now Austin Theory is standing in front of me pouring his heart out.

"You were amazing, Soph." he praised me. "How could have Paul dared to hide such a gem from us?" the man shook his head and I just chuckled.

"Better late than never." I shrugged. "And hey, hope you win the next time." I pointed my finger at him.

"If you become my Wise Woman, it will be possible." he winked at me.

Roman's POV:

Everyone was hugging and congratulating Sophia. She really made quite the impression. My colleagues looked very thrilled from what they saw. Myself included, of course.

Everything went so smoothly for her first performance. That's a huge deal. She may not be my wise woman for long but I can say that I definitely see a future for her here.

I also see a future of her being with me. It has to happen and I have to act fast because I don't like the way my male colleagues are looking at her. Especially the ones who are close to her age like Theory, Carmello and Waller.

They looked like hyenas staring at the prey. But one thing about hyenas, they get the stuff that's left from the lion. And I'm gonna make sure there is no stuff left for them.

I approached Sophia with the intention of taking her away from here.

"Soph, the jet is ready to take off." I didn't lie, though. After a show I take off immediately.

A 5-hour flight is upon us.

Sophia looked at me and nodded her head.

"Okay. I just have to grab my things." she said 'bye' to everyone and headed to the locker room.

The three men were giving me strange looks and I just crossed my arms, stared a hole through them and headed to the room.

I think I just made my statement in front of the colleagues.

I knocked on the door and I heard a "Come in" from Sophia.

The second I got in the room, she looked puzzled.

"Since when do you knock? This is your room." she said.

"I thought you might be dressing up." I scratched my neck and she chuckled.

"Weren't you offering me help with the dress up before the show? Why you act so nervous now?"

Touchè.

"You said it alone. I offered you some help, so you could dress up faster." I gave the most dumb explanation ever and she squinted her eyes.

"Do you think that it would be faster?" Sophia looked at me with a note of scepticism.

"No." I just gave up and looked down. "Not at all."

After a few seconds I glanced at her and she looked very proud, trying to surpress a laugh of victory.

"Is this funny to you?" I managed to ask in a chill tone.

I put my hair into a bun and then went to the couch to grab my backpack.

"Kinda, not gonna lie." she said as she put on her beige fur coat on and reached to grab her little suitcase but I stopped her and did it for her.

"Thanks" she said softly.

As we went to the plane and all four of us took our places, I saw Sophia loosing her bun and her beautiful long, blonde hair fell on her back like dominoes.

It looks so soft. Must be nice running your fingers through it.

She started fixing it a bit.

This view looks like those slow-mo movie scenes where there is a pretty woman doing the most normal thing and a guy who drools over her.

I am the guy.

I caught her suddenly looking at my side since she is at my left on the other part of the plane. This caused me to react quickly and turning my head at my front.

"What are you looking at?" she giggled.

"I think there is a spot on your window." I immediately lied and I know she knows I am.

Sophia took a look at the window next to her.

"I don't see anything." she said and then pulled a book from her little suitcase. "You should probably see a doctor."

"What are you implying, miss?" I furrowed my eyebrows from offence.

"That you might need glasses." she replied innocently. "They would look good on you, actually."

It's the way I was ready to drop a little scold session on her but the last sentence really got under my skin and I tried to surpress the down bad giggle that was about to come out.

"You think so?"

"Yeah." she replied certainly. "You are probably gonna look like a professor. Professor during the day and wrestler during the night." she said in a dramatic narrative tone and started laughing and I followed her too.

However, I started thinking.

Would she like me if I was her professor? Has she liked any of her professors? Or older men in general.

"I don't think a professor with my looks exists." I spoke confidently.

"I don't know but there was this one Media Law professor." she shook her head, closed her eyes and pressed her lips.

WHAT?!

"What about him?" I asked in a super cool tone meanwhile I could feel burning inside.

So she has crushed on older men before.

"Nothing." she just replied and then it hit her what impression she might have left and suddenly became uneasy. "Nothing happened cause I am all about business since day 1."

"But if you had the opportunity?" I raised my eyebrows and she stared at me in distress, her teeth on her lower lips wishing it was my teeth instead.

"I don't know. Forget it." she turned around and opened the book.

No, Sophia. I am not gonna forget it.

I need to know.

Sophia's POV:

I hope this will leave him wondering.

But yes, clearly I have crushed on some elder men before but never been in a relationship with one.

"What are you reading?" Roman continued asking me questions.

"'Goddesses in every woman'. It's from 1984." I stated.

"A year before I was born." my jaw dropped pretending to be surprised.

"So you are 1985?"

"Yup." he confirmed.

"I thought you were younger." I still acted slightly shocked.

I saw how Roman blushed from my comment. He can't really hide it.

"Stop." he waved his hand.

"It's true. Your skin is amazing and with a little beard dye you might look like my peer." I continued testing him and he looked as if he is gonna melt any second.

"I mean what can I say?" he bit his lip and shrugged. "A beard dye?" his expression changed suddenly as if he is still digesting what I said.

"That's just a suggestion." I shrugged and he started touching his beard.

"It's kinda long, too. I have to book an appointment for the barber." he concluded and I started giggling.

The girls are right. Maybe he likes me for real.

"How often do you go?" I asked.

"Every two weeks cause I also have to fix the hair and stuff." he pointed at his side hair that is kinda starting to grow already.

"Your hair is amazing." I complimented him yet again and I swear I saw a little blush on his cheeks.

"Not as yours though." he laughed and looked down. "Is this how you ask your uncle for money?"

"Never needed to ask him. He just gives it to me." I flipped my hair.

"Valid." he slightly tilted his head and started thinking something.

"Do you have nephews?" I crossed my legs.

"I have 4 siblings. Each of them has two kids. Do the math yourself." what I notice about him is he moves his hand a lot while talking and explaining things.

That hand looks big as hell, though. It would cover my face twice.

"That's so cute." I slightly pouted. "I would never be an aunt since I am an only child." this is like one of my weak subjects.

"Well, you can be if you marry a man with a lot of siblings...like me." he added the last part quickly and chuckled slightly.

I followed him and did the same.

"Guess I have to put that in my future husband requirements list." I shook my head.

"Have you ever met a man that completes all of these requirements?" I knew he would ask this. I iust knew.

What I'm hoping for is I don't get the 'What's your type' question cause we've all been there.

I showed him my hands.

"Do you see a ring on these fingers?" I asked rhetorically and he laughed softly.

For a man of his size, his laugh is very soft, comforting even.

"You are still so young, you have time." he reassured me. "As an elder, I would advise you to really choose wisely. I know you probably got this a lot, I know it's clichè but it's true."

I nodded my head.

"It's just I'm 26, soon to be 27. Most of my friends and acquaintances are married or engaged, some of them are expecting kids and here I am fresh after ended relationship." I said my life story in a nutshell.

It's really not funny. I still hang out with my friends from college and high school but it turns out I am the only one that's focused on her career at the moment.

I thought Robert was the one for me but the second we started living together, it just didn't work at all.

"I am freshly after ended marriage and look at me." Roman just shrugged as if it's nothing. "See my cousins, my siblings they all have kids except for me."

"You are divorced?" I acted shocked once again.

"Yup." he did one of these deep breathing outs men usually do and leaned back on his seat.

"And how you deal with it?" I managed to ask the question now that we are in the topic.

"Better than most people, honestly. The whole process was just scarily smooth. Maybe because it was a mutual feeling." Roman pressed his lips and slightly nodded his head.

"That's very important, yes." I stated. "But you probably wouldn't wanna marry again."

"Wrong. Why wouldn't I? The fact that I didn't make a right decision once doesn't mean I won't try again. I want to have kids, Sophia." he seemed pretty determined.

I like the way he thinks actually. Most people like him just give up but he seems certain he won't. I mean let's be real. There are millions of women dying to marry him, so he will really be okay.

"I wanna have kids, too one day." I sighed. "But I have to find the right father."

There was a loud snore coming from behind. It startled me and Roman causing us to turn back.

It was from Jimmy. Him and Solo have been in a deep sleep ever since we got on that plane.

"Quiet, big Jim." Roman playfully scolded him and then looked at me. "He won't hear me."

"They have earbuds." I mumbled as I looked at them.

"Usually after a show if we have a long flight with the jet or ride with the bus, we fall asleep immediately." he explained to me.

"Then why are you not sleeping now?" I called him out.

"Cause I wanna talk to you. Get to know you. You are my Wise Woman." he pulled out the defending tone. "We are a team now."

I smiled at him and looked away.

"Valid." I managed to say while trying to calm myself down and took my book but he suddenly got up to the little bar and opened the fridge that was underneath it.

"You want some glass of wine?" he pulled out a bottle of wine. Cabernet Sauvignon to be exact.

Of course he would buy the expensive stuff.

"You and your obsession with giving me drinks." I squinted my eyes at him.

He just laughed out loud and opened the bottle with the corkscrew pretty smoothly then pulled two wine glasses from the cupboard next to the fridge.

"It was your big night. I think we deserve a lil' celebration." he turned his back in order to sip the drinks.

"Okay, but just one glass." I said with my index finger up, pointing one.

"Alright. Whatever works for you." he took the glasses and came to me to give me one. Roman was towering over me and I was staring at him with doe eyes.

The way he makes me feel so small and soft and feminine. I know this is how you are supposed to feel around men but nowadays, it's rare to get this effect.

I was about to thank him but he beat me to it.

"As I see you don't trust yourself when you are drunk." he commented and my jaw almost went to the floor.

"Maybe I don't trust the people I am drinking with. Thank you so much." I said with aggressive tone while grabbing the glass.

Now Roman seemed like he was offended.

"Are you saying that I'm not a trustworthy man?" he is kinda cute when he gets offended because his whole face wrinkles and you can barely see his eyes.

He is so funny.

"I am not saying anything. Just that as a woman, I have to be careful always. Thinking two steps ahead of everybody. A lot of men have been trying to get me drunk and sleep with me but..." I shook my head.

"I understand but you should also understand that I am not like your peers. I know how to impress a woman without using alcohol." he spoke confidently and licked his lips while looking at me straight in the eyes.

Okay, Roman. Okay.

He knows how to talk too. I mean are we surprised? It's what Geminis do best.

I raised my eyebrows and pressed my lips, plotting my next repsonse.

"I'm sure you do." I said and he flashed his pearl smile at me.

"Cheers." he lowered his glass near mine so they could cling.

We made an intense eye contact as we drank from our beverages.

He is a charming man, indeed.

concept for a pepper ann amphibia au, i'm going to call it pepper ann-phibia

what the shows have in common are both dysfunctional trio of friends and a main character with a similar name, but thinking on how it would work is truly interesting. the characters all have different household lives, and considering their friend dynamic it is truly interesting.

it's based on the blink and you miss it pepper ann cameo from amphibia and the line from the guardian on people who misused the stones. the story also would take a lot of cues from early amphibia in order to fit the roles better. this also is sorta dark for pepper ann, but i really like the idea of this story. especially a "failed timeline" so here you go. not satire. pull up a chair. mostly a rough idea. OKAY a very rough idea. there is several timelines to this story as well.

ridiculous ted talk: crossover au addition. makes more sense when you've seen both series

the story: late 90s/mid 00s. in the summer of 8th grade, pepper ann pearson wins an all expense paid trip via sweepstakes to somewhere in california and is allowed to bring her friend's nicky little and milo kamalani.

lydia pearson (pa's mom) is allowed to chaperone them and comes on the trip being so far from hazelnut, but understands that this is for the kids special trip. so she spends a lot of time at the hotel taking advantage of the perks and gives them all cell phones, emergency contacts, meeting spaces etc

nicky's birthday is coming up on this trip, and she usually spends her birthday at home with family. not having any parties, though she's secretly always wanted a special birthday party, a surprise party especially. pepper ann and milo want to do something special for her or get her a special gift. knowing how obviously nicky wants to have a cool birthday- its written all over her face. unfortunately, nicky is really hard to shop for gift wise even with tips. after searching a long time on their trip the music box appears. given everything that happened in seventh grade with frog dissection it was a good inside joke, and hey! nicky likes music right? the motivation comes from a simple gesture of kindness from characters who can often be unintentionally selfish. nothing weird is happening, they are just celebrating nicky's birthday right?

when celebrating nicky's birthday, pepper ann gives her the gift and she while attempting showcasing all the uses it can have ends up transporting them all to amphibia.

the twist is, is that they all end up different places and take on different roles in amphibia. in fact, calamity powers end up being split between the characters and the role of sasha and marcy is split between nicky and milo. and each gets a piece of heart wit or strength. this causes an instability, which causes the three stone deity/guardian with the help of other dieties to "erase" this timeline, something the guardian had nevef had to do. in some timelines they are aware of the power split and try to fix it, but they were never meant to wield the gems to begin with.

pepper ann: you'd think pepper ann would end up in wartwood, but she actually starts the story in newtopia to contrast her hometown. she also has no access to the calamity box. however, no one in newtopia is kind to take her in at first and she struggles a lot. she ends up wandering around for a while and finds found family in "carmello", a young stern frog shopkeeper estranged from their own family who is the only one who takes her in. carmello's real name is... weed, like the amphibia pilot. cause its funny to me she tells him "i cant call you that!" i imagine lol. but i also like the idea of a frog trying to assimilate in newtopian culture so let's leave it at that. eventually, they leave newtopia in sight of wartwood. in hopes of finding the others and for better opprotunities. we also see the friends of carmello and an arc of carmello reconnecting with their old friends and new opprotunities. her lesson is to be less selfish but also to listen to others. she has mostly heart powers, but also strength. when she has to work on her powers, they all need to be evenly seperated to work because otherwise the powers are unstable. her journey is from newtopia to wartwood in act one, which speaks to her own desire to get out of his mess.

milo: takes the role of marcy as she was in pre production. he's a wanderer, lost in the lands of amphibia relying on whatever he has for survival and also meets up with other survivalists... who do it for fun... he has powers of wit, but does he really deserve it? after all there is no "creativity" calamity gem. he becomes a master of witchcraft in the rural woods of wartwood. he takes a bit of heart in his powers, sometimes acting up in unexpected ways. he makes creative breakthroughs with natural materials.

his journey leads to him to find nicky, who has been made into a soldier of the toad army. milo is tested when alone, but meets unexpected friends. he learns to listen and to slow down and be mindful, even if that doesn't come easy or naturally to him.

nicky:

nicky is the least adjusted to amphibia out of the three. she believes it to be a dream and tries to rationalize being there a lot. she is captured by the toad army and the calamity box is seized from her. when proven useful- let out of prison and recruited to the toad army were she is a capable but loyal soldier. but on her face, she is dazed and confused- almost in a dissociative trance like state. eventually nicky is able to desert the toad army and cross paths with milo and is able to eventually reunite with pepper ann. even though she is sasha here, grime is not her ally.

nicky goes through a lot throughout the journey, as the duel roles sasha and marcy. she has the desire to be controlling but wants the best for the friendship overall and wants to protect herself. but she has very little loyalty to the others she meets and struggles to trust others. she eventually is taken advantage of by the newtopians and andrias with the desire to get home overtaking everything else. she will eventually be assimilated to the core, but she certainly isn't as trusting as marcy. nicky, who in many ways has been sensitive- going emotionally numb would be a prominent part of the story.

you might be thinking nicky is so fitting for marcy so why give her the role of both marcy and sasha? especially since she's not really strong. nicky does have strength in many areas, she has a lot of arm strength but presumably doesn't have a lot of core/body strength. she's also an overachiever who uses a treadmill and exercises often. nicky was also raised with very high standards to the point of absurdity, her arc would focus on this a lot. her arc would focus on her advocating for her needs, trust, and self sacrifice, and her bonds with her friends. the "betrayal" from andrias would be cruel fate, but eventually nicky would be rescued from the core sooner than marcy was. overall it would be a very different true colors. very much so.

but honestly, even if she's smart- brilliant- she resists the core. nicky is not a fantastical character like marcy, she has a hard time imagining things for herself

overall i love the idea of a marcified sasha, which fits nicky a lot. its like if u put anne sasha and marcy in a blender. thats nicky little

the story would focus on these characters overcoming their own barriers in their relationships. for them to realize where things however there's one important part of this tragedy

in the last episode, everyone sacrificed their all to save amphibia. in every version of this timeline, even the good ones where they able to stop the invasion and- nobody was able to sacrifice themselves and stop the calamity to amphibia that happened in the ending. sacrifice, for these kids was wrong- and the gems themselves found the wrong host. the guardian realizes the error and diverges the timeline with the help of other cosmic deities. the original kids are alright and they are able to reset and get a normal gift for nicky but versions of them end up in sort of a cosmic liminal space and in some timelines there are "artifacts" of them, like ghosts that appear in some timestreams with slight difference. (thats what the cameo of pepper ann is)

there is no timeline "loop" and no one is affectively dead, but sometimes the timelines still leave their mark on the others. the kids who never went to amphibia might have dreams of there. needlessly depressed 7th graders meet the weirdest dream i ever had 8th graders.

here's some of the things i would like to explore in the story:

pepper ann is a very silly human world. so putting them in a "serious" version of the frog show is the obvious choice. surreal dark fantasy like what inspired the series of amphibia. still weird tho

nicky and milo's dynamic with them working together and milo and pepper ann coming together for a friend in need

do the characters fight? badly in the beginning. they do what they can, and eventually get training. and then when things get tense they do fight. many verbal arguments and intense moments

the relationship issues stemming from a lack of openeness and codepedency for social survivial, about how their percieved by others...

reunion with pepper ann and nicky...

milo and nicky switch weapons, nicky gets the crossbow and then milo gets the swords.

when they all return to newtopia, milo and nicky are able to enjoy themselves and have fun a little. pepper ann is happy for them, but sad because this place was incredibly isolating and hurt her friend.

yunan and olivia having a dynamic with the trio. both yunan and olivia being really annoyed with pepper ann even with character development but liking nicky and milo a lot

no sashannarcy cause this is freaking pepper ann and milo is soley platonic but like... nicky crushing on pepper ann like sasha does for anne.

no lief no plantars or they are reimagined. different origin for calamity box. possible fake calamity box in the main story timeline

what does pepper ann have on her when coming to amphibia. does she have her skates?

pepper ann, never keeping a journal before makes one for amphibia. nicky, never keeps a journal makes one too. milo in some ways never really had a journal but does write things down in places

calamity box used like a pawn by the older characters instead of the characters themselves just being the pawns. like people are attempting stealing it and stuff. the calamity box isnt just a metaphor for the relationship and way home but for their childhoods

we see the families worried, questions.... investigations... the community is really worried about everyone. 3 kids going missing on a prize vacation trip... not good. i just realized what conclusions could be drawn but i didnt want them to be in hazelnut sooo... hazelnut is a quieter, dreary, grey place. one thing to be old and die, another to be young and go missing

there's a timeline where lydia teams up with dr jan to try and go there save them all some how. but we don't see what happens. there is a "main timeline"

do the characters get punished for buying a gift for their friend? no, but in hazelnut sometimes you're punished for like... breathing. so like yeah. that's the catalyst for wanting to bring them to amphibia. after all, to know someone is different to understanding them. and bad things happen to good people sometimes...

1. Dragon Lee (I can def see them getting a tag title run later, I feel like they’re being built to be important to each others stories)

4. Rey Mysterio (i recently found out John Cena did a lot of reluctant team ups with people he was currently feuding with and even winning the tag titles with them, I would love for Rey and Dom to reluctantly work together and get one more title run that isn’t sacrificed to the bloodline)

5. Damian Priest (I will die on the hill they should’ve done trio v trio with damian and Dom going after finn/JD’s tag titles after the betrayal)

6. Rhea Ripley (they have both talked about wanting to get the tag titles themselves and I think if any intergender team should it’s them)

7. Kevin Owens (just for how fed up the two of them would be with each other)

8. Jey Uso (again reluctant partnership, just like once)

9. Carmello Hayes (I just feel they would work well together if they didn’t try to kill each other first)

10. Wes Lee (they had underrated chemistry)

Basically I want Dom to be a multi time tag champ along with a being multi time singles champ

After doing some research I feel confident in saying that this recording with Carolee Carmello as Trina is from 1992!

The first national tour of Falsettos began in December 1992 starring Carolee Carmello as Trina and Adrian Zmed as Marvin; Zmed was also a temporary replacement for Michael Rupert on Broadway. This recording clearly isn't from the tour, as Stephen Bogardus and Chip Zien are also starring, so it's from his time as a replacement. He sounds a little unfamiliar with the role here, which in combination with other evidence makes me think that this recording is pre-tour. It would have to have been after Carmello left her role as Cordelia as well, which was at the end of July 1992. My guess would be that once it was decided Zmed would play the tour with her she came back to Broadway to practice her new role alongside him for a few shows.

Additionally, I'm pretty sure Jason is played by Jonathan Kaplan, who left the show in late 1992!! It really looks like him, and that would fit with this timeline. (Exciting, bc I didn't realize any recordings of his performance existed!)

When did carmello fall in love with Tobias , you say Tobias has trouble being the best partner, but how did Carmelo’s start?

Carmelo fell in love with Tobias first, actually! It was something that just slowly crept into his mind during their friendship. He HATED himself for it, he was scared shitless. He tried his best to push away his feelings, but they just kept on resurfacing. Carmelo would put distance between him and Tobias, and it really hurt their friendship. He’d get defensive, lash out , and overall was just not the greatest. They were both bad friends/partners in the beginning , but they got so much better and grew so much from where they started.

r.e. carolee carmello - does stephanie j. block fall into the category of belters who screlt?

Unfortunately, she's slipping more into the screlting side of things these days. Look, I do like SJB both as a performer and as a person. She had a wonderful belt for most of her career, and still does today. But as her voice has changed with the natural aging of things, she's still trying to do what she did twenty years ago, but she's not as consistent in chest voicing up the octave with the same power. This leads to a strained sound you associate more with screlting, which can work for some roles but is not great in others. I thought she was fine as The Baker's Wife, for the most part, but I was begging her to stop belting "it justifies the beans" and just transition to head voice, or at least get better at mixing. In Kiss Me, Kate, it's much less bearable. But honestly? You can get away with it a lot more over there.

And I get it. It's hard to navigate the vocal changes that can happen as you get older, and it's not something most are comfortable talking about, so it can come as a shock. In her solo concerts, she still gives a great show overall and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan, but some of her repertoire no longer works in the original keys and with her usual riffs. Unfortunately, given her history as an Elphaba (and the first, technically), I do think it was always going to go this way. A lot of former Elphabas who had their big breaks around and after Wicked just have a different training and background compared to Glindas and belters who came of age before the big screlty craze that has plagued BA programs for the last few decades. SJB didn't get any formal training, at least in the college or conservatory sense, and I do think it shows.

So, I decided to combine the two into one 😂🖤

"No one moves" the queen's order was given in a hurried whisper that made everyone in the room obey more for the shock than for the order itself.

Asta was motionless, her eyes fixed on the MC who was a few feet away from her.

The baby seemed to be determined to do something - their hands gripping tightly at the bottom of the chair as their feet seemed to grope the floor as if experiencing how safe it would be to go ahead.

No one even breathed in the room.

Then, almost in slow motion, their hands came loose from the chair, they stretched out their arms as if they were counting on them to give them balance. Their body faltered for a moment and Brandr followed the movement, attentive - ready to act.

But there was no need to intervene, still faltering but eagerly, the baby put one foot in front of the other clumsily.

Asta and Brandr's faces were identical masks of anticipation and anxiety.

MC continued their progress without seeming to notice their audience.

One more step....

Asta knelt down slowly, opening her arms to greet them with a big smile.

"By the Goddess!" Carmello's voice resounded across the room suddenly and the MC turned to him immediately, the act causing them to lose their balance.

Carmello took them in his arms in the same second

"Oh, my precious MC" he said as he looked at his child in amazement. "How lucky I am to witness this moment"

"What are you doing here?" Asta asked, interrupting the stream of compliments Carmello was beginning to pour on the MC, "You should wait outside the gates. Who let you in?"

"One of your nice guards," his smile was too pleasant to mean anything good

"You are violating the terms of our agreement."

"Oh, really? What an indelicacy of mine" his smile widened even more and Asta pursed her lips in frustration.

"Carmello"

"Gan!" The exclamation sounded right in their ears, interrupting the beginning of an argument and coming from an unexpected source: the MC.

"What?!" The two turned to the hybrid who just smiled back.

"That was...."

"Oh, gods"

"Gan" the MC repeated once more, their eyes were glued to the door.

"That must mean father," Carmello decided, and Asta snorted in response. "What a wonderful day, my baby's first word and their first steps"

"You're delirious Carmello" Aedh entered the room and moved closer to the MC who was frantically extending their arms to him. "You're both out of the game."

Stunned, Carmello handed the MC to Aedh without a fight.

"Exactly, my little one, I'm Gan," he smiled at them and then looked coldly at Carmello. "We'll talk about that invasion of yours later."

And with the MC in his arms he withdrew from the room leaving Asta and Carmello looking paralyzed at him.

Chess at The Muny

(no read more breaks I’m too old for that nonsense)

So it’s not a secret that I love Chess. Florence Vassy is my all-time favorite musical theater female lead. Chess is my favorite musical. I’m so in love with the music, I love the doomed romance of Florence and Anatoly. And some of my favorite musical theater loves (Carolee Carmello, Helen Sjöholm) have played Florence.

I traveled to St. Louis on Friday to see the show Saturday night. I ended up getting a last minute ticket to see the show again Sunday night (because I have no chill and because I’m so in love).

The show was FUCKING AMAZING.

Apart from a few cut verses and altering song order, Chess at The Muny was very similar to the West End / 2008 Royal Albert Hall layout. It was a fully staged show, not a concert, and it was brilliant.

What I absolutely loved was the almost complete absence of a book. Chess has always struggled with a good, solid book, but I really don’t think it needs one. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus make some of the greatest music in the world - let that music come through. With Tim Rice’s lyrics (and Björn’s assistance - Tim did not write those lyrics on his own) the show is best performed in a rock opera style.

The Muny knew and understood this. Dialogue was brief - some spoken instead of where it had been sung in other versions, some dialogue inserted in just the right place to get the point across - but nothing that relied on a book to move the show forward. It doesn’t need it.

The venue is gorgeous for an outside amphitheater. The stage included a revolving checkered square with stairs and risers. There was a huge screen at the back and two thin screens on either side of the stage. Those were utilized so well - the thin screens showed the hand fidgeting and coughing, etc during Chess #1, while the main screen showed the actual match. There were minimal set pieces - wooden boxes on wheels to be used as chairs / airplane seats / furniture.

The cast was just amazing. Phillip Johnson Richardson plays The Arbiter, balancing the no-nonsense role with the dance moves and swagger that the part requires.

Tally Sessions plays a wicked Molokov, pulling strings and not pulling punches. Rodney Hicks is a perfect Walter de Courcey.

Jarrod Spector was Freddie, playing the petulant man-baby with some legit childhood trauma. His Pity the Child was wonderful - the right amount of self-loathing and pity and bitterness and anger, without being too sympathetic.

Taylor Louderman was Svetlana. I’ll admit that seeing her Saturday night was a little underwhelming for me - I didn’t think she shined as much as I wanted her to with Someone Else’s Story, but she got me with I Know Him So Well, and I thought her performance Sunday night overall was better than Saturday. The back and forth with I Know Him So Well brought things back for me.

John Riddle was Anatoly. I knew nothing of him going into the show. He absolutely blew me away. Where I Want to Be was powerful. Anthem was gut wrenching and gorgeous. And I’m very jealous of him for getting to kiss Jessica Vosk the way he did during the show.

And Jessica Vosk…Jessica Vosk. I knew little about her before the cast was announced, and then I had to go searching for her to vet my Florence. Because Florence is so precious to me, so important.

I knew Florence was in good hands with Jessica when I heard her recorded Nobody’s Side on her album Wild and Free. I was not disappointed this weekend. Jessica Vosk as Florence was EVERYTHING I wanted her to be, especially for my first time seeing Chess live.

Jessica’s Florence was jaded and professional and intrigued by Anatoly and touch-starved and bitter and angry and Nobody’s Side had just enough longing and punch in it.

They shortened the song - cut out the last verse after “never waste a hot afternoon” which meant they cut the long “don’t forget the best will go wrong” rift which is my favorite. But there’s a break earlier which gave JV an impressive vocal rift there - similar to what’s on her recorded Nobody’s Side.

I will always be partial to the Swedish staging of Nobody’s Side - because who doesn’t want angry/hurt Florence drinking and grinding with strangers in a nightclub - but it doesn’t fit in this production. And there’s something special about Helen Sjöholm being the only one to perform that staging - because HS is a dream and I am very gay.

The chemistry between Vosk and Riddle made me all smiling and tingly, and they had two almost-kisses and then a very long intense kiss and the romantic sap in me was very happy.

I also absolutely LOVED having a young Florence and her father in some flashbacks - in Budapest is Rising, in Florence Quits (I believe they were there - it’s getting a bit muddled in my mind). But multiple times where we see a young Florence run across the stage, or being carried by her father, or their separation. Oh it was so good.

The ending and You and I always gets me emotional. Again - Jessica Vosk portrays Florence with all the heartbreak and emotion I need. The repeated “losing my man and getting nothing in return” made me cry, and then I was sobbing during the Epilogue.

THIS is the version of Chess that should be revived on Broadway. It’s perfect as a rock opera. Keep it that way. Add in a little bit of dialogue if absolutely needed. We don’t need the self-defacing humor of the newest Danny Strong book. We don’t need the CIA, or fake Gregor, or sympathetic Molokov. This staging is perfect. This is what I want to see on Broadway.

I wish I could have seen the show 100 times. I’m extremely fortunate and grateful that I saw it twice. And that I got my program signed by Jessica Vosk - so now I’ve got signatures from three different actresses playing Florence.

There’s TikTok videos of pieces of the show floating around. I’d love to get my hands on a proper boot of the show. My phone battery is shit so it wasn’t gonna be me.

It was gorgeous and amazing and thrilling and everything I wanted and I hope to see more of it soon. With a good cast like this, worthy of taking on these roles.

There were two Naruto OCs. Had an OC for Soul Eater. That's all that comes to mind now.

The Forum OCs are retired and I probably won't ever write them again. Mako Jun, I'd probably have to brush up on every now and again when the mam of his husband Atlas pops in to chat. (Every few years kekw) We just chat about how we miss the DA RP group and how things are going. She still rp's on DA a lil bit but now RP as their kids! Other than that, if I retired a muse officially, I had reasons for it. The only one I'd write again would be Tarras if we finally got someone who would pick up translations again and we finally got his backstory.
