My girl Veeeeeth!!!

First impression: The first time I watched an animatic with Veth in it I was smitten. Her voice? Her chaotic vibes? Instant favourite.

Impression now: Veth is my number one favourite CR character of all time. I've talked about her a lot on my blog lol but I just absolutely adore the way Sam plays her. She's hilarious. She has so much depth. She's a mom, she's a best friend, she's barely twenty years old. She's married, she's horny, she doesn't know how to choose between the life of an adventurer and the life of a housewife. She's in love with her best friend. She's in love with her husband. She's a little goblin girl. She's a halfling woman. She makes explosives. She's a proud member of the Chaos Crew. She's an alcoholic. She's scared. She would die to protect the people she loves. She loves children. She killed a baby manticore to get its mother's attention. She invented the Fluffernutter. She's so smart. She thinks she's ugly and not brave. She's learning how to love herself. She's my everything.

Favorite moment: Truly how can I choose just one... An early moment that has always stuck with me is when they're in Zadash and Nott turns herself in a halfling to just go to a cafe alone and have lunch and "be a normal girl". With the context of her backstory... ouch. Also Edith where is my son. And Your people did this to my people. All of the Nott-backstory-reveal stuff hits sooooo hard.

Idea for a story: I have sooo many but I'd love to write something about Veth watching Luc grow up over the years... Also something about Veth and Yeza's relationship, maybe the arc from their early romance to their relationship post-campaign in little snapshots.

Unpopular opinion: This isn't technically an opinion, but I feel like a lot of people forget how young Veth is? Like yes she has a husband and a child but she's like... mid-twenties? One of the youngest members of the Nein, actually. When people call her the team mom I'm like... she's a baby!!

Favorite relationship: I mean, Caleb and Veth. Of course. Their dynamic is everything. Truly one of the most interesting relationships I've ever seen played out in a ttrpg. I'm obsessed. (Second place goes to Veth and Jester, absolutely love their friendship.)

Favorite headcanon: I guess this is technically a Yeza headcanon, but I like to think that Yeza collected like... rocks and chemicals and science-y things as a kid, and he thought it was really cool that Veth had all of her little collections, too, and that's something they bonded over when they were young. :) Being the weird kids together.

Hi! My name's Monet Nogilny, but you can call me Mo if you want.

My bio says it all (though ignore the image on my trainer card- they got the pictures mixed up with another sweater-vest-art-guy). I'm an artist (crappy), a school librarian (decent), and a Smeargle foster dad (World's Best).

I live with my starter (Fluffernutter the Cyndaquil, my Geriatric Baby) and three to five Smeargles at any given time. Two of them are mine- Degas and Waterhouse- and the rest are fosters.

I'm from Unova- born and raised in Virbank City- and I still live here today! (Though I work in a different city and I won't tell you which one.) I love my crappy hometown and will fight you for its honour. Don't Test Me.

I like movies a lot. Yes, I have been to PokeStar Studios, I have mixed feelings about it but overall I really like living close to ~where the magic happens~. Goomcharov is the best movie of all time. Fight me.

I want to travel, but so far, the only real ~adventures~ I've had were my Pokemon Journey when I was ten and a Study Abroad in Johto. I'd love to visit Paldea, Kalos, and Galar someday!

The first bike tour with my new Pedelec.

A night out with C. We went to a left-wing satire/stand-up show and, surprisingly, I found it to be quite entertaining. C. met an acquaintance, Nicole Gohlke. She's a member of the German Bundestag and is friends with Wolfgang M. Schmitt, Ole Nymoen (who invited her to the show) and Jean-Philippe Kindler. So we tagged along for drinks at the Adina hotel bar.

Planning a trip to Gran Canaria with Ludo, Marcus and Christian. I want to go diving and drive around the island before the dudes arrive! We're going to look at a few properties together. At first I was sceptical but the idea is growing on me.

Meeting my new hypnotherapist. We're vibing.

My Duolingo comeback. I'm kinda relieved to see that I do still speak Spanish.

Walking through Greyfriar's Kirkyard at dusk, taking a bus to the sea, finding the perfect shops for us in Leith: Portal (me) and a boardgame store (C.) A teary cinema visit. / Staying at a chic, modern hotel. A night out at a rock pub, an intense talk about C.'s suicide thoughts, going dancing. An afternoon at Kelvingrove Museum.

A lovely time with C. and L. We accompanied C. to the shooting club and I got to shoot a few rounds as well. We visited friends, had lunch at an eco restaurant in the countryside. I picked a wildflower bouquet. Then we went to a place with a good view, walked around the graveyard and L. asked to light a candle in the church up on the hill. Then we enjoyed a scoop of ice-cream in the evening sun. C. helped me with my ETFs and we cuddled a lot. And we talked about getting married! I feel loved.

Walking through the airport with my new (deep purple!) noise-cancelling BOSE headphones. Spherical instrumental music playing. This is SO helpful.

Buying stickers and tattoos for my inner child. Applying the tattoos to my notebook pages! They can actually be used for paper. Who knew.

Another arrival at Hridaya. A calm one this time. I knew what to expect. I felt patient, content. I loved how familiar everything was. A few Karma yogis I already knew. Bella the cat. Not much has changed around here (Have I?) And I'm so happy I splurged on a single room. I value my peace and quiet.

Returning to the hanging chair under the chestnut tree for lunch. I used to come here almost daily during the silent retreat. Such an idyllic spot.

Bella allowed me to pet her.

Broccoli cheese soup

This one was a bit hard to track down ingredients for (there was a whole vegetable broth debacle) and I figured I would have to boil a cheese rind to homogenise the taste, which if you're kosher and not in a very Jewish city can be an adventure in many respects. However: yeah I understand why people love this, it hits, unquestionably gevaldig. I baked the crucifers in advance because Ukrainian cooking generally fries or bakes things before combining them; I think this would actually be kind of bad without that step but you know what, it was good. It was. It was good.

Casserole, comma Lutheran binder

Cream soup-bound casserole. Effectively once upon a time a potato kugel and a zharkoye loved each other very much, but it was dairy. Honestly it was pretty good, very filling, lasted a while. Peak effort to output ratio, great for kids, I can see why this is a church food. If enough people from the deep Midwest ever convert as a community this will be their equivalent of kugel.

Deep fried Oreos

Dangerous to make and terrible for you to eat, effectively like if kolobki were full of slightly burnt cookies instead of being deep fried quark. Despite everything, would eat again.

Corn chowder

Honestly? 10/10 no notes I love a good milk soup. Would serve this at a holiday.

Banana bread

Excellent. Excellentissimo even. Tasty. Economical. Comforting. Where was this all my life?

Chicken bog

I've made this out of neglect by accident. Halfway between soup and pilaf. I'm sincerely thrilled they do it in South Carolina on purpose. Genuinely it overjoyed me to find out this is a thing.

Glorified rice

Honestly I understand the conceptual appeal of this, like I get why it should be good. But something about it was just bad. It's like a slightly medievalist blancmange from the Sitra Achra. I will slander glorified rice's name until the day I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Welcome to my Good Omens fandom blog! Saddle up, buckarinos! We're goin on an adventure!

My name is [insert whatever you want to call me here]! I'm a mid-30s queer nonbinary socialist polytheist Luciferian-Satanist kitchen witch and aspiring author who loves Good Omens and hates Brussel sprouts. I live in the southwestern US, currently work in the medical field, dream of starting a homestead, and my pronouns are they/them, tho he/him doesn't bother me, either. I have fairly debilitating ADHD, so if you wanna be ADHD Buddies lemme know.

I'm not new to the fandom in that I'm not a new fan of the book or series, or new to tumblr in that I've been here since the Golden Age of the early 2010s, but this is my first time slapping the two together like a fluffernutter sandwich.

I've been writing some fics, if you're interested, search for my 'olives works' tag, but between my full-time job and my attempts to work on my original fiction, updates are slow-coming.

I love to see theories and meta and I love to talk about interpretations of the material, so if you're interested in the bits and bobs I've written on that, you'll find them in my 'olivesoriginals' tag.

I also use this blog for aesthetic and inspo posts - random bits of space and plants a antique books and modern and vintage fashion, miscellaneous things that I want to hold on to do I can look back at them whenever I need visual references for something. Sorry if they clutter things up lol.

Lastly, I'll probably also be posting music recs here under the 'olives ineffable playlist' tag. I try to keep things relevant, but how much of it is a result of brainrot, I can't say.

I've tried searching through your blog and not found this answer, but Tumblr's search function is what it is, so. Apologies if this is a bit of a daft question. What do your temperament "categories" mean? What's a "curious" bird like, etc?

Here is the basic run down:

Rescue/retired

Any bird who should not be bred for what ever reason. May have any temperament

Popcorn is a perfect example. He was a crashed out rescue bird. We have no idea what's in his back ground, and he has recently developed hyperkeratosis on the bottoms of his feet.

He's a special needs bird with a painful condition that's likely to be heritable.

Loft Bird

Physically sound/breeding safe. Strongly prefers the company of other pigeons. Avoids humans.

Were he not a rescue, Toderoki would fall into this category. He's a structurally sound purebred who could easily benefit and be happy as part of a breeding program.

He just so vehemently dislikes human contact and strives so hard to avoid it that he would be miserable as a single house pet.

Companion class Curious:

Unsure what they think of people, but brave enough to investigate.

Sits nearby

May preen clothing.

May hop briefly up onto your knee

These very shy, reserved birds could potentially bond closer to their person away from the flock, or the flock could have been what made them feel safe enough to be brave.

Companion class Comfortable:

Wants to know what you are doing.

Will land on your head or shoulder, or loaf in your lap.

High energy individuals may frequently visit to hop up on your knee if they aren't birds who like to be still.

These out going birds like you and will come spend time with you, but they want to spend at least s much time doing their own bird thing.

They're on the friendly end of independent.

These are the birds that get up in your lap or onto your shoulder and play with your fingertips or try to play with your phone.

They often like to shove their beak between your fingers in the pigeon equivalent of suckling a pacifier.

They like and trust you enough to feel safe asking for the same comfort they would from their daddy after they leave the nest.

Steps up willingly on command.

These are the birds you can hold out a flat palm to and reliably expect them to step un onto it when you ask.

It takes a lot of trust for a little prey bird to let a big predator manipulate and stroke them.

Very few come to the conclusion of their own free will that this is safe at or prior to nine weeks of age.

It's very common for Imprints to end up like this, but there are a LOT of mental health issues involved in imprinting baby birds.

A parent raised bird that's human social may not be as intensely clingy, but they are worlds more psychologically sound.

Cotta is an excellent example.

He's attuned enough to my base line to worry and be clingy when I'm off, but if everything is normal, he alternates as he will between long, sedate, cuddle sessions and doing his own bird thing.

@homeofhousechickens can show you the difference between Loki (Imprinted feral) and Fluffernutter (Parent raised, human socialized) for reference.

Travel buddy

Velcro bird that likes adventures on a harness, but needs the carrier to be covered

It's a LOT to ask of a little prey bird whose best defense is "escape VERY fast!!!" to go out into the world tethered to the limb of a giant predator.

Especially surrounded by other giant predators! And their largely predatory pets!

This bird has to implicitly trust that you yourself will not hurt them, or take them some where or put them in a situation where they will be hurt.

A bird that is comfortable on the harness before they leave at 9 weeks old is a special little jewel of a bird with an exquisite temperament.

This is, thus, one of the rarest classes we produce.

None with this temperament have hatched this year.

Therapy prospect:

Travel buddy that can ride in an uncovered carrier and respond reliably to verbal cues in public.

Many pigeons can enjoy going out on a harness, but for most, the scenery passing on a car ride is overwhelming degrees of overstimulating.

These birds have to be focused on their handler above all distractions, obey verbal commands or hand signals, AND alert theor handler of their own volition when something reads off to the bird.

This is not a pet that passed the avian equivalent of obedience training and knows a bunch of tricks.

This is a bird bred, raised, and trained to do a job that relies on that bird's bond with their care taker being deep and close enough for the bird to try to bridge the communication gap of their own free will to let their care taker know that something is not right.

Not for a treat, but because the bird likes their handler so much that they are trying to prevent that human from suffering the negative consequences of the thing they are trying to communicate the warning for.

Ankhou, may he rest in peace, learned the warning signs for anxiety attacks that were debilitating for me.

And then to equate my blood sugar spikes with the borderline comatose crashes that followed.

Entirely on his own.

He liked me enough that me being ill or in pain was distressing for him.

He learned that he could prevent the scary thing from happening if he was able to warn me ahead of time.

He fucking hated the harness, but that allowed him to be near enough to warn me when I was away from home, and for that, he would put up with wearing it.

Reliably producing birds with that temperament is the end goal of this project, but we have only been working on it in earnest since 2018.

Some birds are six generations in, but only on one side.

It's going to be a very long time before we can hope to have Therapy Prospects reliably available.

So far, Fluffernutter is the closest we have produced to this ideal

I was wondering if you could do one last request for that mini series of requests, where Essek finally asks reader on a real date and it's going great (Knight could notice some figures following them *cough* M9+verin *cough*??) there's some flirting/teasing but sadly the date comes to an end and reader walks essek home, they say their goodbyes for the night but not before reader finally kisses Essek and whispers a goodnight!

Hi! Welcome back. Now of course this wouldn't be me if halfway through writing I realised this was turning way too long so it'll be a two-parter again to keep it readable. Hope you don't mind. Any way, here's the first part so I hope you enjoy! 😘

A long day of disasters with the Nein returning just in time to be thrust into more relentless hours of study with Essek wasn’t exactly how you envisioned to spend your day and luckily for you Essek is a merciful soul, when it comes to you that is. Seeing how battered and bruised you were, and mentally exhausted he refused to let you touch his precious tomes or even scribble a single note on paper. He had even gone as far as making said smaller items disappear into the nothingness. Damn wrist pocket spell. Essek was determined. You needed rest. He’d make sure you got it.

So instead of hours upon hours spent at Essek’s home he opted for staying with you retreating to the upstairs of the Xhorhaus and finding the both of you a comfy spot to spend your time in a more relaxed environment. Essek sits, back against the tree while you lay sprawled across the floor next to his outstretched legs eyes closed as the wizard reads to you. He may not have allowed you to read for yourself as to not overwork yourself but the compromise you convinced him to was agreeable. More than agreeable if you’re honest.

It’s no secret you like spending time together as you do so a lot. You may be a little more affectionate with each other than say for example with Caleb or Jester. It doesn’t go unnoticed Essek likes you, if anything the man’s made it pretty clear and vice versa. Neither of you have just ever acted on it. With everything going on in your lives, how could you? You’re a ragtag adventurer with no allegiance to kingdom or country. He’s the bloody spymaster of the Dynasty. It’s not exactly a conventional prospect of a future, nor is it likely to succeed with the kind of lives you live. Could you really afford that kind of struggle? Maybe, if you were willing to take the risk but lately things have been hectic and this moment of relaxation beneath the tree at the top of this tower is the first moment of peace either of you have known in a long time.

You swear, you’re paying attention. You might still have to reread the whole book again as you’re just entranced by the sound of Essek’s voice. The man could make anything sound interesting. Give him those pages from that Iva lady back at the Chastity’s Nook in Zadash and Essek could make even that sound like a master piece. Though in hindsight, maybe best not as you think he might not be able to get past the first few sentences himself. The cringe.

“Are you still listening?” Essek’s reading voice breaks in favour of the question as he watches you drift off with a smile on your face. He’s almost afraid to ask the question but is unsure if that’s because you’ve grown tired or the subject bores you too much.

“Hm?” You perk up turning your head to the side and looking at the wizard. The exhaustion is written over your face but doesn’t diminish the content smile you present.

“Perhaps that is enough for the day?” Essek suggests closing the book and sits up a little straighter. He places the book by his side as you sit up and go to reach for it. Essek’s quicker and places his hand firmly on top of it and prevents you from taking it. He’s very sure you’d have no trouble retrieving the book if you really wanted to and maybe he’d like you to try, just a little, but you’re tired and need rest. Not fill your mind with pages of knowledge attempting to cram in the words. You’re a good study but even the best of studies cannot combat the banes of exhaustion.

“It is getting late anyway.” Essek says as you roll back and find yourself, head leaning against his thigh, looking up at the drow with a pout as he insinuates he’ll have to leave soon. You catch him off guard but he’s not opposed to the sense of affection and comfort you radiate. Physical affection is rare between the two of you especially since he’s very new to it in such contexts. He’s still getting used to it and he’d be lying if he said it’s unwelcome.

“If you say so.” You stay like this for a few more minutes before the ruckus downstairs pulls you out of your moment and you’re reminded Essek needs to head back to his own home. He still has business to attend to, business he’s been procrastinating in favour of spending more time with you. You sit back up, swing your legs beneath yourself and rise to your feet offering Essek a hand to help him to his feet.

“Essek, do you have a moment.” Caleb calls over as he enters the living space. The drow looks at you as if to ask if you know what this might be about or more like your permission to allow himself to be whisked away by the wizard interrupting your goodbye. You shrug.

“I should probably try and prevent this kitchen fire waiting to happen. I take it Cad’s still out getting groceries?” Caleb nods and you sigh shudder preparing for the oncoming disaster rushing into the kitchen like a valiant hero, albeit a little more domestic than your usual adventures, valiant no less.

A conversation between two wizards in one room and a homemade fluffernutter dismantled in another you reunite with Essek. There he is floating in all his glory, cloak back around his shoulders you see him off. Essek seems a little… nervous? Is that the right word? So you give Caleb a look but he acts all innocent. You know better than to trust that. Nevermind, you’ll have an easier time getting it out of Essek than Caleb if you need to. Caleb sends the others off to their own business persuading them to clean up before Caduceus returns and finds his precious kitchen in disarray or any other state he didn’t leave it in before he left. The firbolg is quite protective of his pride and joy. You lead Essek over to the hall but interpose yourself between him and the door crossing your arms and tapping your foot expectedly.

“So is this where you tell me what you and Caleb talked about or am I going to have to work for it?” The look you give Essek makes him want to spill all the beans right then right there but he wants to do this the right way and not be a blabbering incoherent mess. He has to do this the right way. You deserve that much; if not for the way he feels then simply for every effort you’d put in your actions to do with him.

“It’s to do with you.” Oh? Now you’re curious. “I asked Caleb for some advise.” What in the worlds would he need to go to Caleb for to get advise on to do with you? Essek’s not one to admit lacking either skill or knowledge when it’s about people and even less so to confide in another in such a way because by all means, his little side bar with with the redhead was anything but an interrogation to get information about character, motives and possible leverage like he would have navigated a political encounter.

“And what, pray tell could Caleb be lecturing you on?” You grin with he gentle stroke at Essek’s ego. If you know one thing, sweet-talking will get you everywhere with this man. Not that you’d minded. Not that you were lying. You’d never lie about such things. But you’re also not against using your opinions to gently persuade the drow in revealing what he’s hiding.

“Matters of heart. It seems I am at a disadvantage when expressing them to the subject of my affections.” Essek admits and you watch the skin of his cheeks to become a darker shade of purple. Damn, this is not going the way he envisioned it. Like a rock being tossed into the elemental plane of water, sinking into that eternal ocean.

“Oh really, now? It seems to me you’re doing perfectly fine.” Essek laughs awkwardly and looks to the floor to gather his bearings but when he feels your hand rise to his cheek and lift his gaze to look you in the eye, when you step in a little closer to him. He knows you’re teasing, or at least partially teasing. He also knows best to rip the bandaid off quickly and hope you’ll be merciful in your answer.

“I was wondering if you’d join me on an outing, tomorrow if it suits you?” Essek feels the words leave his lips. He doesn’t blurt them out like some lovesick fool and is thankful for that at least.

“Of course, will we be going to the library again? Or another shopping trip? Need me to carry more of those heavy papers again? Please can we do this time without any assassins sent to kill you? I think we could both do with a break for once.” You laugh and it becomes quite clear to Essek his phrasing might have been a little off so he’ll have to correct himself. Great. Just what he needs. Make this more awkward and difficult for himself than it already is. Maybe he would have been better off blurting out the words like a lovesick fool.

“What I had in mind would be more like a planned outing, a break from our usual lives and away from the responsibilities we both carry.” Essek clarifies and the copper drops for you.

“Essek, are you asking me to go on a date with you?” Yes. Yes. For the love of the gods, the Luxon and all that is sacred thank you for speaking the words correctly instead of leaving him to go in circles until he can’t anymore and dies from embarrassment. Why does he always turn into a mess when it comes to you? Because he likes you, a lot, maybe even more than just like. Definitely more than just that.

“That is exactly what I have been attempting and failing to convey, yes.” He admits ashamed. Your laugh makes for a good consolation though, no matter your answer. Up until now the possibility of your answer whichever outcome, had never been a bother to him as he never really gave asking you a thought, for his own sake or this may just have gone much worse with his tendency to overthink. In suspense he awaits. Not even the powers of dunamis at his fingertips could make the passage of time before your answer feel like less when in reality you barely missed a beat.

“Of course. I’d love nothing more.” You caress his cheek. Your smile grows from amusement to joy and Essek couldn’t be happier. He felt himself slipping into a smile of his own. Essek let himself go in that joy and relief you accepted rather than the stress of the actual date tomorrow. He’ll worry about that one later.
