I absolutely HAD to draw something for @phoebepheebsphibs's DTIYS (based on this pose)! I decided to mix things up a bit by experimenting with a more limited color palette, which was a pretty fun challenge.

u may ask - why are you so excited for the fast food worker episode? the answer is that I want (read: NEED) to see how these people act in a semi-grounded scenario. lemme peel back their cartoony exteriors and get a glimpse of how they were in the real world. i want to see the contrast between the identities and habits they’ve slipped into as a part of TADC and the previous lives they lived leading up to that point.

where do their current and past identities overlap? where do they diverge? what new behaviors emerge as the cast tries to cope with being reminded of the real world? how do the character dynamics shift? AND what drives a person to pickup something like TADC (an immersive digital experience that provides an escape from the real world) in the first place? I want to know I want to know I want to know

#chatter.txt #tadc episode 4 #just skimming the promo material we’ve been given for ep 4 #we can see gangle has leadership experience and masking her emotions is her go-to coping method #zooble seems to retract inward and is apathetic toward the situation at hand (regardless of how badly it spirals)#we see ragatha slipping into substance dependency when her hope cope mechanism fails #jax is loudly displeased with the situation but seems quick to bend under authority #pomni. seems the most like herself. if that makes sense. since she hasn’t been in TADC long #she hasn’t folded herself into a particular identity or coping method yet #so she’s able to approach the situation more lucidly than the rest of the cast #(who all have an eyes wide shut approach to their lives currently)

#Brought to you by my stress that my mother is parenting my younger siblings poorly #She’s not keeping her emotions out of it in a healthy manner #And thus she’s attempting to rule teenagers via fear and guilt/shame #When they don’t respond immediately to reason #And I’m like. Ma’am.#If your 24 year old daughter won’t fold her laundry to this day #How do you think this method is going to work out for your 13 year old daughter when she grows up?#I observe that with lots of chores her method has merely instilled guilty avoidance on the part of my siblings #(And to a lesser extent myself as well)#Because guess what!#associating cleaning with guilt for not doing it #AND more guilt during the process #AND further guilting for not doing it sooner once it’s actually been done—#None of that has created a consistent cleaning ethic in any of her children!!#There is no love for tidiness #Only guilt and apathetic despair at its absence #With complete aversion for the work of tidying based on years of shaming #I’ve had to do so much relearning in how I think about and practice tidiness #And most of it’s come from advice on here actually #anyway #pray for my family please #Thanks

Every bookbinding tutorial i found online: "DO NOT TRY THE COPTIC STITCH AS A BEGINNER ITS TOO ADVANCED"

Me who has only bound one book before and used a completely different method: "ehh it can't be that hard"

2 hours later

.....I was right. Its not that hard.

#its technically slightly wrong cuz i dont have signatures #im just doing one folded piece of paper at a time #which does take longer #but i was expecting that #doing actual signatures would have a. been way too thick cuz im using watercolor paper and getting them to lay flat wouldve been annoying #and also i wouldve had to pay a lot more attention to how the pages were actually laid out #and this project was already kinda overwhelming without that added in #im also combining methods a bit cuz im also gonna glue the spine with wood glue for extra support #and i also dont want the stitching to be visible #every tutorial was also like ''coptic stitch is great for exposed stitching!!!'' like cool story. not why im using it. gonna cover that shit #also finding one that wasnt in video form AND actually showed everything i needed to know was completely impossible apparently #i needed to know how to attach a fresh string when i run out cuz i always struggle with that in any sewing project #and generally need a refresher each time #and all the written ones were just like ''just make sure your string is long enough before hand!!! but not so much that it becomes #tangled!!!'' bitch im making a much thicker book than you. i cannot just use ONE string. it b #absolutely WILL become tangled if i make it long enough to finish the binding in one go.#yall are WEAK #my book is 3 times thicker than yours #i need to know how to attach a fresh string #the video tutorials cover that but i had to fast forward through most of it #im running out of steam for tonight (hence why im here and not working on it) so ill be finishing this tomorrow #was hoping to get this part done over the weekend but i ended up not getting a lot of the writing done on friday as i intended #cuz i ended up having to play tech support for my friend so she could update her sims mods

so i've spent the weekend putting furniture together between work shifts bc i FINALLY got drawers for my kallax (which has been acting as my makeshift dresser for like three years). but initially i was worried bc the amount of space for clothes was a lot smaller and even tho i planned to get rid of some of my clothes it didn't seem like they'd fit. until!!! i remembered marie kondo folding methods and hunted them down and lo and behold the vertical method has worked amazingly well so far and everything looks so neat and tidy.

basically this is me saying yet again that marie kondo has never done anything wrong in her life ever and i'm still mad about the way people treated her methods. and like. also you should try vertical folding if you haven't already, it looks wonderful and it saves a ton of space.
