Uh homestuck review type thingy before i go to bed.

reading homestuck has definitely been a trip. having to deal with and figure out how to work with some signs of old internet age, despite using the collection. trying to download some kind of app only for it to work worse than the main one. having to go to the original site as some of the more special links didn't work on the unofficial collection. having to sync up music. all these and probably more I had to deal with to read homestuck. definitely got me more invested ill tell you that much! liked a decent chunk of the humor, disliked another decent chunk of it as well, am neutral on other jokes n' such. some of the stuff early on doesn't age well but it gets better the farther you get in. the 4th wall stuff and all the non main story stuff swung a pendulum (hekekkek) between very fun and enjoyable to grading and annoying. I liked most of the characters though a few I wish got more screentime and interactions and a few I wish were a bit less president in some parts. the "shipping" stuff was inherently confusing and at times annoying for me, nothing stable, often felt like some pairings, both friend and relation ship, could be in the forefront in one part but then completely dissipate over a timeskip. though i will admit i did get somewhat interested at around the end when things were starting to get more stable. (favorite pairings friendship or relationship go as follows: terezi and dave. some of my favorite characters with a great dynamic, really wish they got to interact more, even after the offscreen hook up and break up. > Rose and Kanaya. great solid pairing to the end! also could have used a bit more time for development, but overall better off than most. they work really well as a dynamic duo. > John and Vriska. eh I could take or leave the relationship but I did like their friendship and wish their interactions didn't end so abruptly as they did) Speaking of confusing things, time travel. I feel like that and the fact that this is a early to mid 2010s webcomic should clue you in to how confusing this aspect can be at times.

Overall thoughts: I liked quite a bit of it, though I also disliked a decent few chunks of it. unlike most things I cant quite say I'm neutral on homestuck. not actively positive, yet not actively negative. but I still have some feelings on the thing, I just cant really make them out as the line between "thing I like enough to start putting the characters in situations" and "thank goodness I'm finally done with this piece of crap". Would I recommend reading it, even if you get it working better than I can? no, not at all. Did I enjoy reading it? other than a few issues, Yes! it was fun to read and experience, a real bit of ancient internet history and time capsule from right around the time i was first exploring the internet as a wee unknowing child of roughly 7-13. despite not going around that area much at the time, it still felt a bit nostalgic reading an mspaint internet comic from that era. an enjoyable romp threw a time before the internet was as part of daily life as it is today, while not quite being from back from the dawn of the thing. Reading homestuck definitely had me in awe with hindsight at times with finding out how deep its roots were in the internet. I will never roam the internet the same way again. but i think I've rattled on about homestuck being stuck in that sweet spot of old internet for too long so ill try and give my summarizing words here without going off on side rambles for too long, its like 2:30 am and i should probably try and get my sleep schedule back after having it messed up for like a week. (thank you eternally obnoxious BRAIN. and to a lesser extent the new world of warcraft expansion and homestuck cliffhangers)

Summary of sorts: I wouldn't call homestuck "good" but I wouldn't call it "bad" either. It is confusing, annoying and doesn't work half the time but when it does it oozes with charm, humorous bits that can crack open the core of anyone who likes older memes and internet humor and great music that gets stuck in playlists but not in your head. (in a good way) I would not recommend reading it as it takes time, effort and patience for a variety of things as well as a high tolerance for a bunch of stuff I'm getting to tired to mention. but i am glad I experienced it and I doubt you would too if you did dropkick my and many others warnings into a ditch and read the accursed thing. heck your on tumblr, you probably already accustomed to humor like that in homestuck! I don't know how to finish this so here's a funny skeleton gif to tide yall over as I go spellcheck everything and go write the tags.

Reasons Discord's New Mobile Layout Update is Bad

The reply function is redundant, as most people are used to just holding down and tapping the reply option at the top. If they're going to change it, they shouldn't have gotten rid of the member list for this functionally bad option. It also doesnt line up with any other platform in terms of swipe direction.

The member list is gone from easy viewing

It doesnt auto open your last group chat/DM making multiple simultaneous conversations far more difficult and longer

It's already broken my app once (Locked all channels including other servers' to one channel. I could not access anything except that and my DMs.)

You can not see images that have been pinned in the pins tab.

The search function was fine before. Where did your before, during and after date search go??

All of Discord's individuality is disappearing.

Discord’s new layout is apparently permanent. Keep sending feedback and rating it one star on all appstores; if you get redirected to the advice article, double tap gove feedback.

If you, too, dislike the theme, head to settings (you can double tap your account picture) and go to Appearance, scroll to New Layout and Send Feedback.

Overall, what they've done is disorientate every single current user on discord, and you cannot avoid it unless you've not updated to the latest discord because this is not an update. It is a feature that has already been on the latest update and is being slowly rolled out, like Tumblr Polls.

Good Luck, and may we send as much feedback as possible and have them make it optional or at the least, revert it. I've already sent in at least seven complaints to discord, commented on their instagram post about the layout and I'm about one star review it on google play and app store.

To put the answer simply, Rire used to work for the prior King as a Collector (of souls) and he was that King's only Collector and so got the brunt of his ire for any related, perceived fault. hi, all. i've already made a lengthy post explaining the reasons we should not support this upcoming seventeen album, which you can read here. it is far too long to delve into in any substance here considering this post will already have some serious length to it, however, it discusses the already ongoing boycott and the reasons behind it, as well as the reasons to boycott this album, which include their overwork and mistreatment, and more significantly, their continued collaboation with zionists in the past and on this album, as well as the involvement with a producer promoted his company's work with self professed n/azi kanye west in a highly antisemitic song. i strongly suggest you give it a read.

however, i would like to drive the point home with this post, and that is because both the members and their company continue to be willfully uneducated and ignorant of these matters, and further... unsavory things about their upcoming activities are coming out. they recently announced a 10th anniversary celebration in collaboration with airbnb. airbnb is a pressure target on the official bds boycott list. a pressure boycott per the bds website includes boycotting when there are reasonable alternatives to the company or product. (i don't know about you, but i've never been in a position where i am absolutely forced to use airbnb.)

airbnb is complicit in israeli occupation. settlers list hundreds of homes, apartments and villas for tourists to stay in, allowing both airbnb and illegal settlers to profit off land stolen from palestinian people. they quite literally allow war crimes to be used as tourism. this now makes 2 zionist or zionist adjacent collaborations linked to seventeen's anniversary celebrations, as well as one n/azi adjacent collaboration. i am encouraging you all to boycott more than ever.

JAWS 大白鯊

Roy Scheider got slapped 17 times to get this shot. Bruce has gotten a lot of the glory over the years, so I wanted, for a change, to celebrate the incredible characters and their small town New England drama that make this movie what it is.

It’s the 50th Anniversary of JAWS. In 1975 JAWS was the highest grossing movie of all time, and was released overseas in dozens of countries. But you won’t typically find Taiwan on that list, because in 1975 Taiwan was no longer recognized internationally.

But it was released in theaters there in 1975, known in Taiwan as 大白鯊. My Mom personally watched it during its release, and even remembers billboards of it. But because of the complicated history of Taiwan, it’s not well documented.

I wanted to fix that and give Taiwan the flowers it deserves, so I made a retro Taiwanese JAWS poster. All text is in Traditional Chinese, which is distinct to Taiwan, HK, and Macau. My mom is always asking, ‘How come you make all these posters in Japanese? Can’t you do a Chinese one for once?’ So this one is for my Mom.

I want to give a big shout out to Rob Jones for art directing this. Thank you to my Mom for helping me translate and format everything Taiwan-accurate. And of course, thanks to CODA for having me in their official JAWS 50th Anniversary art show.⁠

The exhibit opens at Art Alliance of Monmouth County in Red Bank, NJ with a reception on June 28 and will be on view through July 13.

See that big red rock formation? Well, the owners decided to attach their home to it. This is The Rock House (how original) and it's a stucco home built into the side of this monolith (the listing's word). Built in 2000 in Larkspur, CO, the 2bd, 2ba, 2,432sqft home is for sale for an even $1m.

They attached the house to it, but it's also part of the interior.

As soon as you walk in, you see the rock. The house is simply built around it. The architecture is very interesting. Look at all the stairs and levels and boxes. There's also a beautiful floor.

Look at how the wall paint seamlessly matches the rock.

Whoever designed it was very creative. I like all of these shapes and planters.

Beautiful windows and door going out to a deck.

There's a small terrace that leads down to this larger deck.

Then here they put in a regular, but still architecturally interesting, living room.

You can still see the rock, and this open area includes the spacious kitchen.

Very earthy tones tying in the terra cotta with greens. Love the green cabinets.

Nice airy kitchen with great views. The way it's situated doesn't allow the rock to block the view.

The rock actually looks like it's meant to be part of the wall.

The primary bedroom is located in a large loft with a fireplace and room to sit.

It has a very stylish ensuite.

And, around here, the laundry room is conveniently hidden.

And, here's an office tucked in the corner.

Across the way, there's the lovely 2nd bedroom.

It also has a stylish ensuite.

As well as its own office. I actually like this office better.

Here's another deck between the house and the rock. The outdoor area has to center around the house, b/c while the land is beautiful, the terrain is rocky.

The rocky and uneven land would be costly to develop, but it would also ruin the natural beauty.

There's a path to a shed and a large hot tub.

The drone shot shows how the muti-level decks fit in.

The lot is .86acre.

ANYWAY here is my guide on how to watch missing Dr Who episodes:

WHERE TO FIND:

Animated reconstructions: TARDIS wiki has a list of episodes that have been animated here. They are all available on DVD and most are on iPlayer.

Audio reconstructions: these are the original soundtrack with linking narration. they should all be on Audible. often there's an audiobook of the novelisation and an audio reconstruction. You want to look out for the ones labelled 'original BBC television soundtrack'.

Audiovisual reconstructions: these are the audio soundtracks accompanied by any still images and surviving clips from the episode. essentially a lightly animated slideshow. There are a few official BBC ones available on DVD. Otherwise you can find these on Daily Motion or the Internet Archive. Look out for Loose Cannon's reconstructions as they are generally pretty good.

The Internet Archive also has at least some animated reconstructions and may have the audio reconstructions.

The soundtracks used for these are fanmade off air recordings of the original TV broadcasts and as such vary in quality.

BENEFITS OF EACH FORMAT:

Pros of animated reconstructions: easily the most accessible option both in terms of ease of acquisition and viewing experience. generally have superior audio quality.

Cons of animated reconstructions: animation quality is variable and a lot of people strongly dislike the visual style used. not every episode is available in animated format and there are not currently plans to animate everything. if there are any surviving clips you'll miss out onthem.

Pros of audio reconstructions: easy to acquire from Audible. if you like audio dramas and are willing to put up with rough sound quality you can just treat them as audio books.

Cons of audio reconstructions: can be difficult to follow due to the soundtrack not being designed to be experienced in this format - personally I often struggle to tell who's speaking. as above, if there are surviving excerpts you'll miss them.

Pros of audio visual reconstructions: you get all surviving clips and images. easier to follow than audio reconstructions.

Cons of audio visual reconstructions: audio quality mixed - I think a lot of the copies online are rips of VHS tapes made using off air audio recordings. some people find the slideshow format unwatchable.

HOW TO WATCH:

If you are intending to watch all of 60s Who in order: the first story with missing episodes is Marco Polo. This is a 7 part historical epic with no surviving footage. unless you are absolutely determined to watch in order, skip Marco Polo. if you decide you like reconstructions you can come back to it later.

The next stories with missing episodes are Reign of Terror and The Crusade which are both missing 2 episodes apiece. these are both good places to start with reconstructions as it's a lot easier to handle recons in small doses. you can use these to gage whether you want to persevere with the missing episodes and if so what format you find most accessible.

If you are watching out of order: as above I would recommend starting with some partial serials to see how you get on with reconstructions. The Underwater Menace and The Moonbase from s4 are some other serials that are missing 2 episodes apiece and both are a fun time.

If you want to jump into a fully missing serial I'd recommend Power of the Daleks which is Patrick Troughton's intro serial. Power of the Daleks and the missing episodes of Underwater Menace have all been animated so you have a variety of options to watch them.

& if you really want to test your abilities, look up The Daleks' Master Plan (1965-1966). 5 hours long 12 episodes 3 still in the BBC archive. godspeed.

Jedi Master Lene Kostana

I’ll admit, the format of Dooku: Jedi Lost was really hard for me to engage with. Because it reads like a script, it felt to me like all the characters were going 😐 at each other the whole time. I know I probably should have listened to it to get the full effect, but I have a really hard time locking in for audiobooks, even if it’s a whole production ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s one of my flaws. But anyway! Lene is so fascinating to me because she really is cut from the same disaster cloth as Yoda’s lineage. Almost every decision she made had me going “why would you do that” or “thats just going to make things worse” but we really do love to watch someone who’s technically not wrong about the fate of the galaxy continuously make questionable choices that harm the ones they care for and undermine their reputation with the Council. It’s an age-old tradition.

Here’s my headcanons for her -

- After getting to know Thame Cerulian through their shared interest in the Sith, she initially viewed him as an irritating, pseudo-intellectual bother. His belief that the Sith could return comes more from a place of (by her estimation) frivolous academic conjecture rather than actionable concern. However, when he’s offered a seat on the High Council, she realizes it could be advantageous to involve him in her research. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and as long as she puts up with him, he can intercept most of the prying questions from the Council. (To be clear, I don’t ship these two - Thame likes guys)

- She watches as Dooku, Sifo, and Jocasta all develop a big stupid crush on each other and goes out of her way to foster whatever that is. She does this largely because she thinks it’s cute, but also to confuse Thame and spite Yoda. Thame isn’t sure why these boys are always hanging out in his apartment, but he doesn’t really mind. Yoda knows exactly what’s going on, but is frankly relieved Dooku even has friends.

- While training Sifo, she quickly learns her words carry a lot of weight and anything she says could potentially end up being extremely impactful to her apprentice. This is advantageous most of the time - Sifo only needs to be told something once for the lesson to stick, and it warms her heart to see him basking in her praise, even over something small. The downside? Lene is horribly foul-mouthed, and Sifo is a sponge.

In terms of visual references, there’s obviously not much to go on. The book basically says she’s purple, she’s got a shaved head, and she has a curl of hair behind her right ear… The lil baby version of her in that one comic I haven’t read at least shows what the species looks like. @ junchan_nyan_art has a couple gorgeous drawings of younger Lene on insta, and @bolithesenate more or less captured how she looks in my mind! idk what the curl of hair behind her left ear is supposed to mean or look like. So I’m giving her a sick faux hawk. idc. I was pretty much happy with her design right off the bat, it just took a few drawings to really nail her features. What do we think, is this something?? I feel so late to the party. She’s been on my to draw list foreverrrrr but I just wasn’t getting around to reading the source material 💀 we’re really in serious blorbo territory now, this ain’t an entry level Star Wars blog anymore, if it ever was
