We start where many of us find ourselves these days—going through the motions. Alive, yes. Breathing, sure. But not really living. Yelena says it best in the film’s opening: she thinks she’s just bored. But it’s not boredom—it’s a void. A cold, quiet numbness that looks like normal life from the outside but eats you alive from the inside.

She’s not alone. Each of the Thunderbolts is broken in their own way—dragging trauma, regret, guilt, and silence like chains behind them. It's a team of ghosts pretending to be people. And when Bob faces down the entity called Void, it's not just a cosmic threat—it's the personification of that darkness we all carry. It tells him a brutal, familiar truth: “We will always be alone.”

And for a second, you believe it. Because you’ve heard that voice before. In your room, in your head, in those quiet moments when no one’s watching. It’s the same voice that whispers after heartbreak, failure, or loss. The one that tells you no one will ever really know you. That maybe it’s better to stay in the shadows. Numb. Quiet. Unseen.

But then something happens—something radical.

They pull him back. Bob’s teammates—scarred, jaded, tired—reach out. They choose to care. And one of them says: “You will never be alone.”

That’s not just a plot point. That’s a promise. A refusal to let someone drown in their own silence.

Y Tylwyth Teg (The Fair Folk):

Tales warn of the Tylwyth Teg taking humans to their underground realm, where time passes differently.

The Legend of Gelert:

The legend of Gelert is a poignant tale of loyalty and tragedy. It tells the story of Llywelyn the Great, a medieval Welsh prince, and his faithful hound Gelert. The dog is mistakenly killed by Llywelyn, who later discovers that Gelert had actually saved his son from a wolf.

Whither Canthon

It is unknown how the globe as we now know it came to be, but one myth that has gained popularity in recent years i will include here.

The people’s whom i have travelled among consider the world to be inhabited by various spirits of people and things which came before us, though i have yet to see any such evidence written in the bones of the earth. My own senses can be easily fooled by various herbs and smokes which i have imbibed in at various time.

In any case, this myth seems to be the closest related to the view of the world as it is from both ground level and from the air, looking out from the wings of airborne craft and animal transport.

The Emergence of Canthon:

An eon ago, the darkness existed as a form of its own. Things unseen and unseeable writhed and cavorted within.

One instant there was nothing, and the next an enormous thunderclap broke apart the morass, Revealed in the new space sat a lump of rock-clay. Something had been created, but it was without form, or function. The cataclysm broke the cloudy masses hold, the edges fleeing from the new form.

As it receded, those beings which had been passing nearby were revealed, and caught as a thought. emerging from pure thought, they began to form complex shapes as they were drawn towards the shapeless mass in the void.

They glowed from within, containing unknowably powerful energies, throwing light onto the surface of the moldable ball before them. They congregated around the surface, joined by more and more beings revealed by the retreating edge of roiling possibilites.

The first of them touched the surface, and dived deep within, shedding some of its energy into the material around. Once the dam was broken, others joined in, mixing their energies with the raw material, and with the energies of the other around them.

Cavorting like eels in the reef, they shaped the shapeless rock-clay into a lumpy ball with their antics. Eventually, ages passed, and those who were bored drifted away to find other places to discover and play with.

Those who remained began to ossify, their energies slowing as their patterns solidified into new materials. Rock and earth began to coat the outer surface of the world, the energies dimming until the beginnings of life began to emerge. 

First, the animals in the water, the simplest beings, harnessed the energies of the deepest seas, and brought life out of the cracks in the earth.

Then they emerged from the surface of the seas, where a nearby sun showed them there was more than the deep dark.

Land animals began to live near the edges of the water, eventually joined by larger and faster animals who lived only on land.

Then, the Wunbi began to arrive. Living among the animals and birds, our ancestors began to understand the ebb and flow of the seasons and with it the energies around them.

Reading the spiritual energies coming from the earth, and contained within the animals and plants, they learned of what could and couldn’t be eaten.

What could and couldn’t be grown and harvested.

Their shamans learnt to predict things from the movement of the wind and clouds, and looked for advice from the environment around them.

Our ancestors began to spread across the land, some staying behind, maintaining the ancestral sites, while others looked for new experiences.

Now, the Wunbi live in the forests, and the mountains, and the plains. Others have made their homes on the very seas themselves, travelling where wind and sea take them.

We make our lives from the plains, and the earth provides, as long as we listen to the portents and omens which have kept the world in bounty for so long.

So listen, young ones, to the earth, the animals and the plants.

Listen well, and you will never be lost or hungry.

Let the ancestors teach you the ways of Caanti, so that you may live and prosper here.

There is just one week left before the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShop close.

With Nintendo up to it's bad old tricks of shutting down its online shop services. Riven has been hard at work making a note of the best games to get on the service. In the case of the Wii U many of the games have been ported to Nintendo Switch with extra content or are available on other formats. There are still a few exclusive games worth picking up along with their download content. Titles like Affordable Space Adventures, Pokémon Rumble U, Chasing Aurora & Dr. Luigi.

However the more concerning issue is the 3DS and the amount of games that will be removed from the service and along with their respective download content. The first problem is this is poorly documented across the net, most DLC downloads aren't listed in the eShop instead can only be accessed in-game while other games have special download content that is free to all users.

Some download links look like they don't connect to the Nintendo server so may remain up for some time after the store closes, but we can't be 100% sure on this. Word of warning some games like, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past require you beat the game to access the DLC...

So Riven spent three days last years trying to draw a list of every Japan, European and North American game that features download content for the 3DS. It's not a perfect list so if there are any games we are missing let us know! Contact us via twitter, e.mail or leave a comment and Riven will add missing games asap. From our own research series like Level 5's Inazuma Eleven & Yo-Kai Watch are very poorly documented and all of them area to have some form of free download. Most of the Yo-Kai Watch games also have DLC that is only available to people who buy the game digitally.

We will have a video on the subject in the next two days. Do be aware that you will need to upgrade your 3DS and Wii U SD memory cards if you plan on downloading a lot of games. Both systems also have a hard limit of 300 system icons, the Switch has one of a 1000. At which point you will have to delete a download game to download another. That's not mentioning the fact Nintendo will block credit card use on a Switch for a month if you make too many purchases. You must have linked you 3DS and Wii U account to a modern Switch / Nintendo website account to still add funds.

Egyptian mythology is a rich and complex tapestry that weaves together a diverse pantheon of gods, goddesses, and mythical beings, providing insights into the beliefs and cosmology of ancient Egypt. The mythology of ancient Egypt spans thousands of years, evolving and adapting over different periods of the civilization's history. Here's a deep dive into key aspects of Egyptian mythology:

Creation Mythology:

1. Atum and the Ennead:

Atum, the primordial god, is often associated with the sunset and creation. According to some myths, Atum emerged from the chaotic waters of Nun and created himself.

Atum then produced the Ennead, a group of nine deities, including Shu (air) and Tefnut (moisture), who gave birth to Geb (earth) and Nut (sky).

2. Geb and Nut:

Geb and Nut, the children of Shu and Tefnut, were initially inseparable, but Shu raised Nut above him, creating space between them—representing the sky—and allowing life to flourish on Earth.

3. Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys:

Osiris, the god of the afterlife and rebirth, ruled Egypt with his sister-wife, Isis. Set, another sibling, grew jealous and murdered Osiris.

Isis, the devoted wife, gathered Osiris's body parts, resurrecting him for a brief period to conceive their son, Horus.

The conflict between Horus and Set symbolizes the struggle between order and chaos.

Pantheon:

1. Ra:

Ra, the sun god, was a central figure in Egyptian mythology. He traveled through the sky during the day and navigated the underworld at night.

Ra's journey through the underworld and rebirth at dawn mirrors the cycle of the sun.

2. Horus:

Horus, often depicted with a falcon head, was associated with kingship and protection. The Pharaohs were believed to be the earthly embodiment of Horus.

The Eye of Horus symbolizes protection, healing, and power.

3. Thoth:

Thoth, the ibis-headed god, was the scribe of the gods and the inventor of writing. He played a crucial role in the judgment of the deceased in the afterlife.

4. Anubis:

Anubis, the jackal-headed god, presided over mummification and guided souls through the afterlife. He weighed the hearts of the deceased against the feather of Ma'at during the judgment in the Hall of Ma'at.

Afterlife and the Duat:

1. Duat:

The Duat was the realm of the dead, a mysterious and perilous place that the deceased had to navigate to reach the afterlife.

2. Ma'at:

Ma'at, the goddess of truth, justice, and cosmic order, played a crucial role in the afterlife judgment. The heart of the deceased was weighed against the feather of Ma'at.

3. Osiris and the Afterlife:

Osiris became the ruler of the afterlife, offering the possibility of eternal life to the deceased who passed the judgment in the Hall of Ma'at.

Rituals and Beliefs:

1. Mummification:

The process of mummification was a vital ritual to preserve the body for the afterlife. Organs were removed, and the body was treated with natron before being wrapped in linen.

2. Book of the Dead:

The Book of the Dead was a collection of spells and rituals designed to guide the deceased through the afterlife successfully.

3. Temples and Cults:

“i’m serious, you looked so cute in your last interview!” a bright smile plastered upon his face, sangwoo couldn’t help the soft and airy chuckle that escaped past his lips; crescent eyes reinforcing his joy. he couldn’t be happier than he was in that moment, his best friend who rarely had time for anything but work was given the day off, and bless his soul, he chose to spend the day with sangwoo.

the two were settled in the latter’s house, eagerly catching up with another on their lives. they had been friends since high school, and honestly, it was a pretty unlikely friendship. sian was the quiet, well-behaved student, while sangwoo... well, his goodie-goodie status fell off after the eighth grade... not that he cared, but everyone else sure seemed to care way more.
