Considering how awful our ability to maintenance infrastructure, I'm kinda surprised it took this long for a major gas pipeline to fucking blow up in this country.
Sorry to all the people who lived near said exploded pipeline. Apparently the heatwave was so great everything plastic in the homes melted almost instantly. Also kinda shocked no one died.

R.M. PALMER FACTORY EXPLOSION - PUBLIC SAFETY, CORRUPTION AND NTSB INVESTIGATION
West Coast Midnight Run has produced three editorial and review segments following the devastating explosion of the chocolate factory in the borough of West Reading, Pennsylvania. The final segment explores issues tied to nationbal public safety, recalcitrance from borough officials and the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) from offering the most basic information on the R.M Palmer facility under the rationalization it would somehow compromise their investigation (which is ongoing since March 2023).
The review segment further examines evidence that knowledge of same gas piping system is already in the public domain and questions have surfaced about its safety since the turn of the Millennium with very explicit warnings as of 2011 involving criminal convictions for PG&E (California leading utility with national influence) sometimes in 2017 and 2019.
West Coast Midnight Run™ invites the public and internet surfers to read our review and editorial and take action, because the fuse is still active and it is connected to piles and piles of "dynamite" - Public safety nationwide is STILL AT RISK!

Moves & Countermoves (Part 23)
Summary: No one ever wins the games, even fourteen years later, Y/N is still playing.
Part 22
Tumblr media
Y/N is just about to sleep when she hears it.
“We have to move now! They’ve released the mutts!” Peeta warns, calling the rest of the squad to action.
Down the tunnel, damp at their feet. Creeping quietly as not to attract unwanted attention. The space before them is dark, gut wrenchingly so and the howls of muttations draw closer.
Gale fires one of the incendiary arrows into the walkway ahead, there’s nothing there.
Cashmere is behind Y/N, gripping her hand firmly. Don’t you dare let go.
The flashlights help, they keep moving, trudging through the water, through a crawl space and onward. Jackson is about to come through, she’s the last of them; the mutts get her instead. Fighting their way into the crawl space.
Katniss fires an explosive arrow, the force of it throwing her back into Castor.
“Pollux, get us out of here!” He yells over the chaos.
Y/N and Cashmere separate.
“Katniss,” Y/N says, hauling her to her feet.
“I’m ok,” a little shell shocked, but Katniss marches on.
“Peeta?”
“We’ve got him, come on,” Finnick replies.
They’re getting out of this, all of them, together. They’d suffered enough. They’ve earned it.
Down the pipeline farther, running faster-
“Ahhh!”
“Castor!”
The mutts got him too. Pulling him down into the water, sinking in their ragged teeth.
Pollux can’t even scream, for his brother, mouth open in a silent cry.
Cressida tugs him forward. They have to keep going.
Gunfire holds off the mutts for only a second, they just keep coming. Hundreds. Thousands. Their skin slick and reeking of roses.
A ladder is finally within view, one that leads up into the capitol.
They have to go, one at a time.
Y/N rains steady fire from her gun.
Pollux is up. Homes is up.
Cressida is next.
Gale.
Peeta.
Katniss.
Leaving only Finnick, Cashmere and Y/N. Fighting the creatures off as best they can.
“Finnick, go now.” Cashmere calls.
“No, you.” He fires back.
Y/N hesitates, starting up the ladder, hanging one arm off to fire at the mutts. “One of you come on!” She drops her empty magazine into the water, loading a fresh one with her arms looped through the rungs. She nearly loses her footing.
“Y/N!” Katniss calls, staring down at her, with worried eyes.
“I’m fine.”
Cashmere is behind her then, patting her bum playfully. “Giddy up.”
Y/N focuses, moving faster, making room behind Cashmere for Finnick. Still kicking off the occasional mutt attempting to scale the ladder.
They’re finally nearing the top when a Capitol creation latches onto Cashmere’s leg, sinking it’s teeth in deep.
Y/N reaches back for her, but it’s useless. She digs her heel into its skull.
Finnick, runs it through with his trident. Now coated in its blood and Cashmere’s.
“Keep moving.” They have to keep moving.
Once they’ve cleared the ladder, Katniss uses the hollow to blow it up.
Y/N removes her belt, knotting it tightly around the top of Cashmere’s thigh, above the wound, to slow the bleeding. “Can you walk?”
Cashmere presses her lips together, allowing Finnick to help her upright. “Yeah.”
————————————————————————
“Haymitch, it’s happening.” Madge makes her way to him, through the slew of bystanders, in front of the broadcast screen. “Snow called for all Capitol citizens to come to his mansion. This is it!”
Haymitch nods, numbly. Everest and Arista are still in school. Daisy is strapped against his chest, sleeping through the yelling and premature rejoicing of those around them.
“Have you heard from her?”
Her.
Y/N.
“No,” Haymitch admits. Not since two nights ago. She would call if she could. He doesn’t dwell on what might be keeping her.
“She’s coming home, Haymitch.” Madge says, with childlike glee. “She’s going to end this and then she’s coming home.”
————————————————————————-
Y/N gives Peeta her nightlock pill, just incase Snow sends peacekeepers to search houses. One of Cressida’s friends and former stylist for the games, Tigris, has taken them in.
It is decided that Y/N, Katniss and Gale are the ones going for Snow, while the others hang back.
“Thank you for everything.” Peeta captures his mentor in a long hug.
I would do more for you, if I could. “I love you, Peeta.” Y/N tells him, “and I am so proud.” She smooths a hand over his hair.
He buries his head in her shoulder, “I love you too.”
“I’ll see you soon, yeah?” Y/N pulls away slightly, so he can say his goodbyes to Katniss. Who is waiting anxiously behind Y/N.
Cressida is nearest the door, waving Y/N over. “They will have disarmed the pods to ensure the safety of Capitol citizens, just get yourselves into the crowd and you should be able to walk right in. You’re not all glammed up and you’ll be wearing hoods, chances are no one will recognize you.”
Y/N nods, not caring if she’s telling the truth. She has to see this through. For Katniss, for Peeta. For Haymitch and their children. For herself.
The three of them open the door, marching out into the streets, becoming one with the crowd.
Among the sea of bodies is a girl. A little girl, held in her mother’s arms, wide blue eyes staring back at them. Her blonde curls peeking out from the hood of her yellow coat. She couldn’t have been more than four.
Just a couple years younger than Arista.
Y/N has to get home to Arista.
The palace guards are checking civilians as they line up at the front gates. One of them will surely recognize them. They try to turn back, to regroup and make a better plan.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The world around them explodes.
“It’s the rebels!” One of the men cries out.
Bullets rain down. From above and below, all around.
“Mama!” The girl in the yellow jacket is crouched over her mother’s lifeless body. “Mama.” Her mother won’t wake up. There’s screaming, there’s so much noise and she’s all alone.
With one last nod to Katniss, Y/N takes off. Trying to reach her. Because she has to try, if it were one of her children, she hopes someone would try.
“Mama!”
Y/N sweeps the girl up into her arms, searching for Katniss and Gale. The child screams in protest. Y/N understands, she is not her Mama. “Shh, sweetheart. I know you want your Mama.”
“Mama!”
“My name is Y/N,” Y/N says, against her ear. “I’m going to be your friend for a little while, would that be ok?”
The girl keeps crying, but no longer screaming.
“What’s your name, hmm?” Y/N continues rushing them through the crowd.
From the corner of her eye she makes out Gale, being dragged away by peacekeepers.
Where is Katniss?
The girl mumbles out something through her sobs.
“Tell me one more time, honey.” Y/N says, rubbing circles into her back.
“Poppy.”
Y/N pulls back slightly, blinking at her. “That’s a pretty name.”
She nods.
“One of my daughters is named after a flower too. Her name is Daisy.”
When the crowd comes to a standstill in front of the mansion’s still sealed gates, Y/N manages to find Katniss. She’s just a few feet away.
One of the palace guards calls for the children to be brought forward, Y/N doesn’t hesitate to let the little girl go. She will be safe. Snow is smart, calculated and there is no reason for him to kill Capitol children.
“Be brave, Poppy. You’re going to be safe now.” Y/N gives the girl one last squeeze before handing her over to the outstretched arms in front of her. She then begins forging a path to Katniss.
A hovercraft flies overhead, dropping parachutes to the children, being moved towards the mansion.
“Gifts.” The Capitol citizens marvel and little hands reach up to catch them in wonder.
Boom!
Screaming. Running.
The parachutes exploded.
Not parachutes, bombs.
Everyone rushes in to help the wounded. Y/N looks for her, for Poppy. Medics from district thirteen have arrived.
“Prim. Prim Rose.” Katniss recognizes her sister among them.
Prim looks to her sister. Sees that she is alive.
Boom!
What happened to the little girl in the yellow coat?
What happened to Katniss?
Oh. Y/N realizes.
Oh.
More bombs, the fire. It took the little girl in the yellow coat.
It took the medics from thirteen, including Prim.
It took Katniss, blowing her back, setting the jade green cloak ablaze.
Death takes everything. Her Aunt, her father, her tributes, her district.
Everyone but her.
She always tries to save them.
She always tries.
————————————————————————
Y/N startles awake, jerking upright in the hospital bed.
“Hey, hey, gentle. You’re still healing.”
Haymitch.
She’s in thirteen, she made it back to thirteen. Her skin burns, across her chest, down her arms. She glances down at herself, finding the reddened inflamed skin.
“Lie back.” Haymitch soothes, fluffing her pillow before her head comes to rest on it. “You’re alright, no permanent damage.”
“What happened?” She can’t remember.
“Second round of bombs blew you back, knocked your head. Doc says it might be a little fuzzy for a while.”
“Katniss? Peeta?”
“Both safe.” Haymitch assures her. “Katniss has some burns, same as you, but she’ll pull through.”
“Cashmere? Finnick?”
“Cashmere’s leg is healing up nice and Finnick is fine. Back with Annie. The kids are good, they’ve been asking for you.”
“Can I see them?” Y/N’s eyes well with tears. “Please, Haymitch.”
“Of course,” he pats her cheek. “Madge will bring them down after school.
“How are you?” Y/N asks, reaching out for his hand.
“I’m still kicking.” He squeezes their entwined fingers.
“Will you lay with me for a while?” It’ll be cramped, but she needs him close.
“The doctors won’t approve.”
“Please?”
Haymitch sighs, as if he could ever say no to her. “Scoot over and be careful.”
His weight shifts the mattress as he sides in behind her. His arms wrap around her, so softly. As if she’ll break.
“We did it.” She forces her lungs to expand, willing away the pain.
“We did it.” Now they get to live. Now they’ve earned it.

Something that has been itching my brain after playing gears of war 3
And there is clearly not a lot of gears fanfiction either so I'm gonna try and make some.
Death hasn't claimed me yet
Notes; spoilers for gears 3, platonic delta squad, reader takes doms spot but in the end but survives
TW; standard Gears of War shenanigans
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be an easy thing getting fuel in the town of Mercy. But apparently some crazy old man had rigged the pipelines to blow with motion sensor explosives. It wasn't long till Delta squad had found out why. Lambent was infecting humans. It has jumped species.
It wasn't long till Delta squad had been over run with lambent stalks, lambent humans, and lambent locust. With regular locust fighting as well. It quickly dawned on you that something needed to happen and fast. This attrition battle on top of the gas station needed to end or it'll be all for nothing to get to that island and to get to Marcus' father.
Seeing the truck in middle, you left your position in the cover of the sandbags as you doged and weaved between bullet fire and lambent explosions of the corpses and jumped down towards the pinned truck. Grabbing a gun you blind fired into the enemies nearby as you climbed into the truck and sped off. "Y/N? What the hell are you doing?" Marcus yelled.
Turning the truck around after leaving the tunnel you replied. "You guys get the fuck off of that gas station and jump for your life. This is Y/N signing off." With that, and pedal to the metal you full on sended into the gas station with the hope that your squad makes it in the end.
The rest of delta jumps and gets into cover as the explosion hits. Anya rushed over to Marcus as he tried to attempt to save you, while Sam and Dom watch in sadness at there fallen squadmate. "Marcus, she's gone there's nothing you can do. We still got to get to your father." Looking over at the explosion point, Marcus says your name after a breath. "...Y/N.."
Delta squad continues on in completing the mission, in hopes of making your sacrifice not in vain. You where dead, no one could escape that. We'll, in some twist of fate. You didn't die. Sure your body hurt like hell, and had wounds all over your body. But somehow you are alive.
"Guess death didn't come for me yet." You chuckled meakly. Using your strength that you could, you pried open the charred door of the tanker and fell out onto the soot, and chared ground. There was still some smoldering ash on the ground. There where no guns around, or ammo. That was to be expected given a full on gas explosion. Those wounds will definitely leave some scars after they heal.
Bracing yourself for the journey ahead, and a painful one at that, you pushed forward in hopes of seeing your family again.
*time skip*
By some miracle and by miracle, you somehow manage to get into contact with Baird and Cole. "Y/N? That you? Thought youweree with Marcus?" You sighed before you replied. "Well, I was... before I did something stupid.. I'll explain if you'll pick me up in a KR?" Baird and Cole shared a look, before the blone replied. "Copy that, we'll see you soon."
*Another time skip*
During the time that it took Cole and Baird to fly out to you, Marcus and his team had manged to take down the fake hurricane systems and the anti-air. The Navy that Baird and Cole manged to find was making quick work in fighting the enemy forces as you three flew in on a King Raven closer to the ground. You had also filled them in on the stunt you pulled and Cole shit a look at Baird. "Looks like your crazy antics are inspiring others." Baird was not amused. "Look, just because I do one crazy thing with a box full of tickers, doesn't mean everyone should do crazy things. Y/N's lucky to have survived!" You chuckled at was Baird said and he was right. You should've died then. But here you where still standing.
"As much as I think I could fight, I don't think i should. Is there a medic area stationed around?" After the savior play at the gas station, adrenaline was running out and you felt yourself slipping into darkness. A quick patch job was done when they first got to you, but that's all they could do as they quickly went back on track to storming the island.
"Shit, stay with us Y/N..." Everything faded to black. The KR had settle down and Baird and Cole had carried your unconscious form towards a poor attempt at a medic station.
"She will be fine, she's a fighter, Baird. The Cole train isn't stopping here."
While passed out, Delta squad had saved Marcus' dad as he powered up his Lambent machine. The queen had showed up to stop them all, but was killed in the process. Unfortunately Marcus had lost his dad, this time for real and made it a point as he clenched the cog tags. Queen Myraah kept talking on about all his dad did was make weapons of war, and she stopped mid sentence as she was stabbed with your knife you gave him earlier at Mercy.
The day was won, but there were heavy losses. They finally had a tomorrow. Anya and Marcus where on the beach speaking about something as you finally showed up, much to the displeasure of the medics.
"Did I miss something?" You casually replied. As Sam and Dom looked in awe at you.
"You should be dead!" The aussie replied. You laughed it off, while wincing in pain. "Should be, but I'm not." You replied. "I think death doesn't want me, too strong for him." You replied making Dom and Sam augh as you flexed your muscles slowly.
Your gaze went over to Anya and Marcus, and you sighed. "Marcus took it the worse?" The two nodded. "Guess I gotta get over there. Totally gonna get chewed out." You chuckled softly.
Walking slowly towards the pair, you cleared your throat. "Hey guys.." The amount of whiplash that was in Marcus' and Anya's face was very apparent. "How are you here? You should be dead? I saw that explosion. Everyone did." Anya replied.
"By some miracle, that's how." You replied. Marcus had been silent for a while and without warning had stood up and engulfed you into a giant hug. Marucs wasn't one for sharing emotions, at all. He seldom showed them, always focusing on the battle ahead.
"If you ever do that shit again, I'll kill you myself. You hear me?" His rough voice was saying a warning but you knew he doesn't really mean it.
"I don't think that anyone one of us ever want to see me do that again." You chuckled and a faint smile was seen on Marcus' face.
"Death hasn't claimed my number yet. Still fighting with all you crazy bitches." You said while looking towards the sun.
There was finally a tomorrow.

Extensive damage to an undersea gas pipeline and communications cable connecting Finland and Estonia “could not have occurred by accident” and appears to be the result of a “deliberate … external act”, Finnish authorities have said.
“It is likely that the damage to both the gas pipeline and the communication cable is the result of external activity,” the Finnish president, Sauli Niinistö, said on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, adding that the cause of the damage was not yet clear.
Tumblr media
Local media cited unnamed government sources as saying Russian sabotage was suspected, while regional security experts said a Russian survey vessel had recently been observed making repeated visits to the vicinity of the Balticconnector pipeline.
Niinistö said the government was “in contact with our allies and partners” and that Finland was “prepared, and our readiness is good”, adding that the incident, uncovered early on Sunday morning, had “no effect on our energy supply security”.
Nato’s secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, said the transatlantic military alliance was “ready to share information about the destruction of Finnish and Estonian underwater infrastructure” and to “support its allies”.
Tumblr media
Markku Hassinen, of the Finnish border guard, said no seismic activity had been recorded in the Gulf of Finland before the discovery of the Balticconnector damage, but “vessels from several different countries” had been monitored in the area. But seismologists at Norsar, Norway’s national datacentre for the comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty (CTBT), confirmed late on Tuesday that they had registered a “probable explosion” at 1.20 am on Sunday.
Both countries’ gas network operators on Sunday reported an unusual drop in pressure in the bi-directional, 48-mile (77km) pipeline, which runs across the seabed of the Gulf of Finland from Inkoo in Finland to Paldiski in Estonia. The state-owned Finnish operator, Gasgrid, said the pipeline had been shut down immediately because of a suspected leak, adding that the country’s gas system was stable, with supply secured through a floating liquefied fossil gas terminal.

Excerpt from this story from Canary Media:
In Richmond, California, Zenaida Gomez is ready to say goodbye to the gas stove in the apartment she has rented for over a decade. She has a hunch that the pollution it emits is exacerbating her 10-year-old son’s asthma attacks, and she has heard from public health experts and doctors who’ve said it probably is.
“I’ve learned that not only do we have contaminated air when we are outside in Richmond, but there’s contamination and toxins within our homes,” Gomez said in a recent phone call.
She started attending City Council meetings and organizing with her neighbors as a member of the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) Action, because, she said, “I wanted something different. I wanted something better.”
But ACCE Action’s goal isn’t simply to get rid of gas stoves. In a city where about one in four people — nearly double the national average — suffer from asthma due in large part to pollution from heavy industry, the group wants to shut off or “prune” the lines that send natural gas into homes in some neighborhoods. The phenomenon is called “neighborhood-scale decarbonization,” and it’s just getting off the ground in California.
Pacific Gas & Electric, the utility in the area, is on board with the idea. It has expressed a willingness to spend a portion of the money it would otherwise use to maintain gas lines to help electrify the homes in the neighborhood that will no longer use the gas.
David Sharples, county director at ACCE Action, says the group is looking at different neighborhoods that PG&E has identified as likely candidates. Once the group chooses an area, it plans to run a pilot project with the goal of electrifying all the appliances and adding solar panels and batteries for up to 80 homes.
“We’re looking at the Coronado, Iron Triangle, and Santa Fe neighborhoods, which are working-class, Black and brown neighborhoods where ACCE has been organizing for years,” Sharples said. “They all have old gas lines that need to be replaced, so it represents an opportunity to electrify.”
To understand the appeal of neighborhood-scale decarbonization, which is also sometimes called “zonal decarbonization,” it helps to be able to envision the vast network of gas pipelines that exist under most cities in the Western U.S. That network holds a potentially explosive gas, and it requires constant, expensive upkeep.
California has pledged to install 6 million heat pumps by 2030 as part of its larger effort to reach net-zero by 2045. And while a rule will begin going into effect in the Bay Area in 2027 requiring that broken water heaters and furnaces be replaced by electric appliances, a similar rule was just rejected in Southern California

Germany’s once-envied efficient economy is in freefall, and the climate change cult and European Green Deal are directly to blame. State policies subsidizing EVs and other products, shutting down coal and nuclear plants, and mandating forced conversion to untested, unimplemented “renewables” resources for energy have decimated industrial efficiency. Industries and blue-collar jobs are fleeing Germany for polluting, profitable operations in China, India, and elsewhere abroad. Will the United States follow suit?
As natural gases skyrocket during a European cold snap, and Russian gas pipelines through Ukraine are shut down for the first time since 1991, Germany has transitioned from Europe’s economic darling to its leading economic anchor. Followed closely by France and the UK, similarly weighted by economically destructive climate fantasies that are crashing to Earth like ideological meteors, the latest blow to gas supplies compounds the crisis occasioned by the mysterious sabotage of Nord Stream 1 and 2.
The results of this disastrous state-controlled economic carbon dioxide experiment continue to be as evident as explosives in a controlled demolition. Germany terminated massive EV subsidies at the end of 2023; EV sales promptly fell 69%. Despite gushing economic promises of “high-paying jobs” in the renewables industry, Germany announces more layoffs almost daily. Chinese companies, unhindered by escalating energy and regulatory costs, are leading in EV and other manufacturing technologies while spewing more chemicals into the ecosystem than German manufacturing industries.

IBR Compliance in the Oil & Gas Industry: Role of Fittings and Flanges
In the oil and gas industry, where safety, reliability, and efficiency are critical, adherence to regulatory standards is non-negotiable. Among the many standards that govern industrial equipment and infrastructure, the Indian Boiler Regulation (IBR) stands out for its stringent requirements, particularly in high-pressure applications. Fittings and flanges that comply with IBR are essential components in pipelines, boilers, and pressure vessels. This blog explores the importance of IBR compliance in the oil and gas sector and the crucial role that IBR fittings and flanges play, while also highlighting the availability of IBR Fitting and Flanges Plates in Gujarat.
Tumblr media
Understanding IBR and Its Significance:
The Indian Boiler Regulation (IBR) was established to regulate the design, manufacture, and inspection of boilers and their components in India. It ensures that all boiler-related equipment can withstand high pressures and temperatures without failure, which is critical in the oil and gas industry where hazardous fluids and gases are frequently transported and processed.
Failure to comply with IBR standards can result in serious safety hazards, legal penalties, and operational setbacks. Therefore, companies operating in this industry must rely on certified components, including IBR-approved fittings, flanges, and plates, to ensure system integrity and safety.
The Role of Fittings and Flanges in Oil & Gas Operations:
Fittings and flanges are the building blocks of any piping system. They connect different sections of a pipeline, allow for redirection of flow, and provide access for maintenance or inspection. In oil and gas applications, these components must endure extreme conditions — from high pressure and temperature to corrosive substances.
Why IBR Certification is Crucial:
Safety Assurance:  IBR-certified fittings and flanges are rigorously tested for durability and pressure resistance, significantly reducing the risk of leaks or explosions.
Regulatory Compliance:  Using IBR-approved materials ensures compliance with Indian safety laws, which is mandatory for equipment used in steam generation and high-pressure systems.
Operational Efficiency:  Components that meet IBR standards contribute to smoother operations, fewer maintenance interruptions, and longer system lifespans.
Key IBR-Compliant Components Used in the Oil & Gas Industry:
1. IBR Fittings:
These include elbows, tees, reducers, and couplings. Their job is to change the direction of flow, reduce pipe sizes, or connect various pipelines.
2. IBR Flanges:
Used to join pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment, IBR flanges provide easy access for cleaning, inspection, or modification.
3. IBR Plates:
These are flat-rolled products used in the fabrication of pressure vessels and other structural applications. IBR Fitting and Flanges Plates in Gujarat are in high demand due to the growing industrial base and infrastructure projects in the region.
The Growing Demand in Gujarat:
Gujarat, known for its thriving oil and gas ecosystem, petrochemical industries, and industrial corridors, has become a hub for IBR-compliant products. As a result, many businesses rely on trusted sources to procure quality materials that meet regulatory and performance standards.
If you're looking for a reliable IBR Fitting and Flanges dealer in Gujarat, it's essential to partner with someone who understands the unique requirements of the industry. From selecting the right materials to ensuring on-time delivery, local dealers play a key role in maintaining project timelines and compliance.
Similarly, a reputable IBR Fitting and Flanges distributor in Gujarat offers access to a wide range of products, technical support, and customization options tailored to oil and gas operations.
Benefits of Choosing an IBR-Compliant Dealer or Distributor:
Certified Products:  IBR-certified dealers provide flanges, fittings, and plates that have passed rigorous quality control tests.
Expert Guidance:  Local experts understand the environmental and operational challenges in Gujarat and can recommend the most suitable components.
Inventory Readiness:  A dependable IBR Fitting and Flanges distributor in Gujarat maintains a ready stock of fittings, flanges, and plates to meet urgent project requirements.
Technical Documentation:  Compliance requires documentation. Professional dealers offer complete paperwork, including material test reports (MTRs), IBR certification, and welding procedure specifications.
Challenges in the Absence of IBR-Compliant Products:
Choosing non-compliant products may save costs initially, but can lead to:
Regulatory Penalties: Legal actions, fines, or shutdowns for violating IBR norms.
System Failures: Equipment not built to IBR specifications is more likely to fail under pressure.
Increased Maintenance: Frequent failures result in downtime and higher repair costs.
Loss of Reputation: Projects using substandard components can harm the credibility of EPC contractors and manufacturers.
How to Identify Genuine IBR Fittings and Flanges:
Before making a purchase, especially in bulk, confirm the following:
IBR Certificate: Ask for a certificate issued by a recognized inspection authority.
Material Test Report (MTR): This validates the chemical and mechanical properties of the product.
Manufacturer’s Credentials: Ensure the manufacturer is authorized to produce IBR components.
Visual and Dimensional Inspection: Conduct on-site inspections or request third-party checks for quality assurance.

oh btw I have an intimate perspective on this because I have family spread all over NorCal and all of us had wildfires in our communities but PG&E is one of the most evil companies in the western U.S. the documentary Fire Power Money covers this but this podcast is great. TW for hearing audio of victims of the camp fire’s 911 calls and graphic descriptions of human / animal death and testimony from burn victims as well as descriptions / testimony from the San Bruno pipeline explosion. It’s extremely graphic and hard to listen to but genuinely I hope to see pacific gas and electric be dissolved and absorbed by the state in my lifetime they are irreparably evil
