A lot of people have asked to send me things to read or requests for writing. I LOVE when people send me these things, but just a few boundaries:

Advice about sex (how-to, positions, etc)

Personal topics like my own intimate life, my own personal information (IRL name, names of family members, etc)

Topics that I am not educated on, or do not have a right to give my opinion on. While I am happy to talk and give advice about LGBTQIA+ issues, I am uncomfortable sharing my opinion on issues that I am still working to learn about, because I don't want to spread false information or be unintentionally hurtful. Also, since I hold a lot of privilege, there are certain topics that I would rather amplify the voices of others about, rather than taking up my own space.

Writing Tips:

Write a lot.

Don't worry about mistakes or editing. Just write a lot to get your ideas out. Practice makes better, and writing a lot will help you gain confidence. You don't have to post it anywhere of you don't want to!

2. Try microfics!

Microfics are a great way to practice writing certain ships, or just practice in general. They're also lovely for getting a feel of posting! They're low-pressure and low-commitment, which is lovely!

3. Find people to write with.

Whether it's people online or in person, find people to talk about writing and write with. It's very motivating and helps hold you accountable.

4. Be gentle with yourself!

This is supposed to be fun. Don't beat yourself up or be too hard on yourself.

5. Write down your ideas.

Ideas come at weird times. Write them down, because you'll forget them.

might be surprising coming from me, little mx “please for the love of god don’t make me do a pronoun circle,” but I think a Lot about pronouns as an arm of gender expression. like in your typical buzzfeed liberal genderbread man model, expression is something you put out into the world; it gets interpreted by others from there, but the initial presentation of it is the sole responsibility of the gender-performer. so what does it mean for the performer to ask the audience to use a certain pronoun, transferring to the audience the responsibility for the completion of the performer’s expression? certainly, the asking could be considered expression, since that’s the part the performer is responsible for, but that’s only half of it. the full cycle looks more like: gender performer requests that a certain pronoun be used -> audience complies with request and uses this pronoun when speaking of performer in the third person -> performer’s gender is conveyed to a wider audience that may not have even seen the performer. the person using a pronoun becomes an instrument of the performer’s gender expression, a prosthesis through which their gender extends.

basically: when you wear a bracelet, the site of your expression is Your wrist. when you grow/ cut your hair, the site of your expression is Your head. when you change your pronouns, the site of your expression is Someone Else’s mouth.

Does anyone have any suggestions for gender worksheets or tools to help someone explore their gender and the ways it presents or is experienced?

Like a quiz, the genderbread person, a wheel of traits, an encyclopedia of queer terms, a self help book, impactful quotes, etc. Just anything that could help a person on their journey

Omggg thanks for the ask!!! My favorite cookies... that's a hard question. Probably genderbread cookies since they never get old. Like, other cookies, you can get sick of. But those? How can you not want to eat a gingerbread cookie?! But I am a cookie fan so I could eat any cookies really.

John Deere has faced the wrath of conservatives who are hitting out at the company for supporting a Pride event and encouraging staff to be inclusive by using pronouns. The backlash follows agricultural retail company Tractor Supply facing boycott calls last month for, amongst other things, donating money to diversity and inclusion causes, which included projects that support LGBTQ+ youth. Right-wing activist Robby Starbuck, who directed the controversial, gender-critical, anti-LGBTQ+ documentary The War on Children, is working to “expose woke companies” and is encouraging supporters to email John May, the CEO of John Deere, in a bid to “end woke programs”.

Comments under Starbuck’s X post, which promotes the pre-written email, feature countless people reporting that they have hit out at the company through email.  One person wrote: “Thank you Robby. John Deere needs to know that customers like myself cannot support a company that priory woke policies.”

John Deere has embraced inclusivity by encouraging staff to use people’s chosen pronouns in its work to strengthen diversity in the company and ensure “inclusiveness so every employee can make the greatest impact as their true self”.  The company also introduced staff training which uses a “genderbread person” to explain gender identity, expression, biological sex and people’s preferences for sexual and romantic attractions. 

Right-wing anti-LGBTQ+ faux outrage farmer Robby Starbuck, fresh off his (sadly) successful campaign to force Tractor Supply to end its pro-inclusion policies, is trying to do the same to John Deere due to its support for LGBTQ+ causes.

13 - What were your least favorite books of the year? Friendo by Alex Paknadel and Martin Simmons was a really bad comic run :( i get so excited about some horrible looking comics and theyre even worse than i expect... also randomly grabbed The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Macker and it sure was not very good YA and also painfully heterosexual teen romace stuff at times. also see below.

16 - What is the most over-hyped book you read this year? Gender Queer ://// it was a little better on reread but not enough to justify rereading it yk? dont have much to say that hasnt already been said elsewhere but i will say for the blog that it is very genderbread mxn at the best of times. not for me!
