Advice for Keeping a Glock 19 Threaded Barrel’s Threads Clean
Tumblr media
Have a Glock 19 with a threaded barrel, but haven’t splurged on a suppressor or a compensator yet?
Make sure you keep that thread protector on there till you do.
Which brings up another interesting conundrum. You still want to keep the threads clean so they’ll be ready when you do add an attachment.
A word of explanation is needed here.
You Don’t Want It to Get Seized
First, Glock’s barrels are made with a DLC, and most Glock aftermarket barrels are treated with extremely corrosion resistant finishes with high permanent dry lubricity like black nitride or titanium nitride.
This does not (read that again) mean that these barrels and the threads they sport are completely immune to problems like corrosion, tar accumulation, and seizure.
If you let the threads get really dirty, and never do anything about it, and some oil or grease gets in there and combines with the fouling…you just might have a very hard time getting the thread protector off when you want to.
Is this likely to happen? Absolutely not. But it could, and moreover, when you fire a Glock 19 with a threaded barrel that has a thread protector installed, you will be blasting the threads with fouling, even if not as much gets in there as would be the case if you were running a suppressor.
It’s not as important as keeping your bore clean, to be fair. Even with a seized thread protector, your gun will shoot just fine. You just won’t be able to tack on any muzzle devices.
Just make sure you clean it every once in a while after you’ve had an extended trip to the range. Take off the thread protector and hit the threads with some solvent, then scrub them with a nylon brush (don’t use steel or brass), dry them, and give them a little bit of oil before reinstalling the thread protector.
If Applying Loctite…
Some shooters apply Loctite to the threads of their barrels before attaching muzzle devices like compensators or suppressors. The idea is to create a surer bond between them, and by preventing incidentally loosened suppressors, this can help prevent issues like a baffle strike.
Anyway, we’re not here to weigh in on whether or not adding Loctite is good or bad. All we can say is that if the threads aren’t completely clean, it will interfere with adhesion.
So, before applying any sort of thread locker, make sure you totally strip off any residue that’s on the threads, then do not apply oil. To dissolve the remaining residue before applying a thread locker, apply a little bit of rubbing alcohol to strip away anything that’s left.
Here for a New Glock 19 Threaded Barrel?
Don’t have a threaded barrel for your Glock yet? Don’t get it from Glock - they charge too much. Get it from NineX19 instead. They produce barrels for popular Glock handguns, including threaded barrels that are fluted and finished with advanced nitride coatings. Pistol Collection 2024 Top 5
Tumblr media
About every year I put together a list of my top 5 firearms in a couple of categories such as pistol and long gun. Why every year you might ask? Well both my collection might have a new addition or my favorites may have changed a bit due to use case etc… But regardless, it’s a nice conversation I can have to discuss firearms, so that’s always a good thing. This year has some new entries but also some old ones as well.
Tumblr media
First up is the very first factory Glock pistol I ever purchased and that’s my Glock 19X. The Glock 19X is a Glock 19 sized slide on top of a Glock 17 sized frame. These had some weird looks when first introduced by both Glock lovers and haters. But as time has gone on, you’ve seen other manufacturers follow suit with this style of pistol. Higher capacity with a short muzzle. These are available over at Brownells of course and are quite reasonably priced and come with that legendary Glock reliability.
Tumblr media
Second is the very first 1911 in my collection from the early 2000s and that’s my Kimber Stainless 2. Kimber gets a bad rap, but mine has been solid and even has sported some upgrades over the years. Between the .22 conversion kit and the Ed Brown threaded barrel I picked up from Brownells for suppressor use…it’s always a good day when shooting this classic.
Tumblr media
Third is my Beretta M9A4 that my wife got for me some time ago. I carried the original M9 in the Navy so I wanted an M9 variant and the more modernized M9A4 doesn’t disappoint! With it’s crisp Langdon Tactical trigger/hammer kit and the PA RS-10 red dot, it’s one proficient shooter. Truly shocked the U.S. military didn’t keep the M9 on board. It also is an excellent suppressor host.
Tumblr media
Fourth is my S&W Model 629 6.5” .44 Magnum revolver. When you want to play Dirty Harry and do it in style, this 629 Deluxe model has had some trigger polishing and an Apex spring/firing pin kit installed. With the upgraded Hogue rubber grips it handles both .44 magnum and Special with ease. This pistol is one of those that I had wanted for quite some time and finally picked it up early last year.
Tumblr media
Last up is a new pistol for this year, the Sig Sauer P365XL Spectre Comp. I picked this up from Brownells in January and quickly ran it through the paces of 1K plus rounds of various ammunition. Installed a Holosun 507K green dot ands have been carrying it most every day since. It’s been quite a surprising pistol and one that I highly recommend for anyone looking to step up their EDC game in a huge way.
Tumblr media
So this is it… my list of my favorite top 5 pistols in 2024. Not sure what I might add to the collection this year, but definitely stay tuned for next year’s list… you never know who will get added or bumped off the list.

Unveiling the Precision and Innovation Behind Glock Barrels: A Closer Look at the Heart of Every Glock Pistol
In the world of firearms, Glock has established itself as a symbol of reliability, durability, and performance. Central to the success of Glock pistols is their precision-engineered barrels, which play a crucial role in delivering unparalleled accuracy and consistency. With a reputation for excellence in design and manufacturing, Glock barrel exemplify the brand's commitment to innovation and excellence. Let's delve deeper into the technology and craftsmanship behind Glock barrels, exploring what sets them apart in the competitive landscape of firearms.
At the core of every Glock pistol lies its barrel – a component meticulously crafted to exacting standards to ensure optimal performance. Glock 26 barrel are renowned for their cold hammer-forged construction, a process that involves shaping the barrel by hammering a mandrel through a bore blank under high pressure. This method not only enhances the strength and durability of the barrel but also improves its internal geometry, resulting in smoother bore surfaces and tighter tolerances.
One of the defining features of Glock 19 LPK is their polygonal rifling. Unlike traditional rifling, which consists of grooves and lands cut into the barrel in a spiral pattern, polygonal rifling uses a series of smooth, rounded grooves to impart spin to the bullet. This unique rifling design offers several advantages, including increased muzzle velocity, reduced fouling, and improved accuracy. Additionally, polygonal rifling is known for its ability to enhance barrel life by minimizing bullet deformation and barrel wear.
Furthermore, Glock barrels are treated with advanced surface finishes to enhance their corrosion resistance and longevity. The Tenifer coating, a proprietary ferritic nitrocarburizing process, forms a durable, corrosion-resistant layer on the surface of the barrel, protecting it from the effects of moisture, rust, and wear. This coating not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of Glock barrels but also contributes to their exceptional durability and reliability in harsh environments.
Another hallmark of Glock barrels is their consistent performance across various ammunition types and shooting conditions. Whether firing standard ball ammunition or premium self-defense rounds, G 19/23 Complete Lower Parts Kit exhibit remarkable accuracy and reliability, ensuring consistent point-of-impact and minimal deviation shot after shot. This reliability is further bolstered by Glock's stringent quality control measures, which encompass rigorous testing and inspection protocols to guarantee the highest level of performance and safety.
In addition to their technical excellence, Glock barrels are designed with user convenience and versatility in mind. Many Glock models feature a drop-in barrel design, allowing for easy installation and interchangeability without the need for specialized tools or gunsmithing expertise. This modularity enables shooters to customize their Glock pistols to suit their preferences and shooting requirements, whether it's upgrading to a threaded barrel for suppressor use or switching to a different caliber for added versatility.
Moreover, Glock barrels are engineered to withstand the rigors of intensive use and adverse conditions without compromising performance. Whether employed by law enforcement agencies, military units, or civilian shooters, Glock pistols equipped with their precision barrels have earned a reputation for unfailing reliability and accuracy in the most demanding environments.
Glock barrels represent the epitome of precision engineering and innovation in the realm of firearms technology. From their cold hammer-forged construction and polygonal rifling to their advanced surface treatments and consistent performance, Glock barrels embody the brand's unwavering commitment to quality, reliability, and user satisfaction.

4 Ways a Vapor Glock Ported Barrel and Slide Will Boost Your Shooting Experience
Tumblr media
NineX19’s Vapor Glock ported barrel and slide combos can and will substantially change your shooting experience.
Made for Glock 17 and 19 platforms (Generations 3, 4, and 5) these ported barrel and slide combos are CNC-machined in the United States from stress-relieved, heat-treated 416R stainless steel (the barrels), available in wear and corrosion-resistant nitrided finishes, and offer a precision, OEM-like fit.
But these are just specifications. One of these combos will substantially change your shooting experience, and greatly for the better. Here’s how.
Recoil Reduction
The most important aspect of these Vapor Glock ported barrel and slide combos is the ported, matched design.
Both the barrel and slide feature matched porting, that, in lieu of a compensator, redirects the manner in which gasses are ported near the muzzle.
This, in turn, substantially reduces felt recoil, without any other alterations needed to the gun, or in terms of the ammo you shoot.
This built-in recoil-reducing feature helps keep muzzle flip to a minimum, which in turn keeps your sights trained more closely on target, enabling faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
A Clearer Sight Picture
Now let’s talk about one of the downsides to some conventional compensators that port the gasses directly upwards as opposed to obliquely, off to the side.
While this conventional, “direct-up” configuration does directly counteract muzzle flip, it also clouds your sight picture with a burst of hot gas.
There is a reason that the ports on the Vapor barrel/slide combos are set off at an angle; this configuration splits the gasses around your sights and sight picture, keeping the picture clear for faster realignment and more rapid follow up shots.
Add Optics, Effortlessly
NineX19’s Vapor barrel and slide combos are “combat cut,” making them optic-ready for red dots and other sights that have an RMR-pattern footprint.
This eliminates any custom work associated with upgrading the slide to accommodate such optics, and as an added bonus, these slides feature rear sight index dimpling, in case you wanted to add screw-in iron sights.
Legal in States with Threaded Barrel Restrictions
There are, unfortunately, some states, in which threaded barrels are restricted. Some of these are Illinois, Connecticut, and Washington, although this post is not to serve as legal advice and there may be others.
With that said, since these barrels are integrally ported and therefore not threaded, they are legal in jurisdictions in which threaded barrels are restricted.

Mastering Precision: The Art and Science Behind Glock Barrels
In the world of firearms, precision is paramount. Every component, down to the smallest detail, plays a crucial role in ensuring accuracy, reliability, and safety. Among these components, the Glock barrel stands out as a testament to the marriage of cutting-edge technology and meticulous craftsmanship. Behind its unassuming exterior lies a marvel of engineering, essential for enthusiasts, law enforcement, and military personnel alike.
The Heart of Accuracy:
The barrel is undeniably the heart of any firearm, determining the trajectory, velocity, and overall performance of a bullet. Glock, a renowned name in the firearm industry, has elevated barrel design to an art form. Glock barrels, especially those found in models like the Glock 17 barrel and Glock 19 barrel, are renowned for their exceptional accuracy and reliability. These barrels are crafted with precision, ensuring that each shot fired is as accurate as the last.
Innovative Materials and Construction:
Glock barrels are typically made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or cold hammer-forged steel. Stainless steel barrels offer excellent corrosion resistance and durability, making them ideal for prolonged use and adverse conditions. Cold hammer-forged steel barrels, on the other hand, undergo a specialized manufacturing process where the steel is precisely shaped using powerful hammers. This method enhances the steel's density and strength, resulting in a barrel that can withstand high-pressure rounds and prolonged use without compromising accuracy.
Polygonal Rifling:
One of the distinctive features of Glock barrels is their use of polygonal rifling. Unlike traditional rifling, which consists of straight grooves and lands, polygonal rifling employs a series of smooth, rounded grooves. This design not only improves the barrel's longevity by reducing wear and tear but also enhances the bullet's grip, imparting a more stable spin. The result is increased accuracy and higher muzzle velocity, both crucial factors in achieving precision shooting.
Match-Grade Barrels:
For shooting enthusiasts and professionals who demand unparalleled accuracy, Glock offers match-grade barrels. These barrels undergo additional quality control processes and precision machining, ensuring tighter tolerances and exceptional consistency. Match-grade barrels are meticulously crafted to deliver superior accuracy, making them popular choices among competitive shooters, law enforcement officers, and military personnel.
Customization and Aftermarket Options:
The popularity of Glock pistols has led to a thriving aftermarket industry, offering a wide array of customized barrels. Enthusiasts can choose from various options, including threaded barrels for attaching suppressors or muzzle devices, ported barrels for reduced recoil and muzzle rise, and fluted barrels for enhanced heat dissipation. These aftermarket barrels cater to different shooting preferences and styles, allowing users to fine-tune their Glock pistols for specific applications.
Maintaining Glock Barrels:
Proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and performance of Glock barrels. Regular cleaning and lubrication are necessary to remove fouling and prevent corrosion. Using high-quality cleaning kits specifically designed for firearms is crucial to avoid damaging the barrel's interior surface. Additionally, inspecting the barrel for signs of wear and tear, such as erosion or pitting, is essential for safety and accuracy. Timely replacement of worn-out barrels is a responsible practice that ensures the firearm's reliability.
Conclusion:
Glock barrels are a testament to the intersection of art and science in firearm engineering. Their innovative design, meticulous craftsmanship, and use of high-quality materials make them indispensable components for accurate and reliable shooting. Whether in the hands of competitive shooters, law enforcement officers, or military personnel, Glock barrels exemplify the pursuit of precision and excellence.
As technology continues to advance, the evolution of Glock barrels will undoubtedly follow suit, pushing the boundaries of accuracy and performance. For firearm enthusiasts and professionals who demand nothing but the best, Glock barrels remain a symbol of unwavering commitment to mastery, ensuring that every shot fired hits the mark with unparalleled precision.

4 Unsung Benefits of Upgrading Your P320 Barrel
Tumblr media
The Sig P320 is one of the most popular handguns in America. Available chambered in numerous popular cartridges and boasting excellent ergonomics and reliability, it’s hard to talk about P320 upgrades simply because the gun is engineered to a high level of exacting performance.
With that said, one of the most practical upgrades you can make to your P320 is a barrel, especially if your current P320 has one that’s not threaded.
For that, visit NineX19 and take a closer look at their Match V2 and Revolution threaded barrels. Here are some of the benefits that accompany this upgrade.
Enhanced Accuracy
NineX19’s P320 barrels are manufactured in the United States from stress-relieved, heat-treated 416R steel, with a 1:10 twist rate and a deep-cut target crown.
This fairly aggressive twist rate performs well with 9mm, and has been specifically chosen so as to offer the best (and most consistent) performance overall with the widest range of bullet weights.
As for the target crown, it’s been optimized for match-grade accuracy, whether you’re engaging targets at point-blank range or farther off.
Superior Heat Dissipation Properties
NineX19’s Sig P320 barrels are fluted - you can choose your choice of pentagonal flat fluting or spiral fluting, depending on the model.
If you’re not familiar, fluting is the process of removing steel from a gun’s barrel. Flutes are often straight or spiraled, but can also be geometric in nature or follow other patterns.
As you might expect, since fluting removes stock from the barrel, mass and therefore weight diminish. This makes the gun lighter, which though usually negligible in a handgun can make quite a difference in a rifle.
But the real draw here, with respect to the P320, is that fluting increases the surface area of the barrel, which gives it a superior ability to shed heat.
This keeps the barrel cooler during high-volume shooting sessions, which mitigates thermal stresses on the barrel and can also preserve accuracy, especially if you’re shooting at intermediate ranges.
Expandability
Sig does produce threaded barrels, but if you have one without a threaded barrel, there are aftermarket P320 barrels that are threaded (like those mentioned here).
A threaded barrel gives you the ability to expand with muzzle devices like suppressors and muzzle brakes which can cut back on muzzle pop and also reduce recoil and muzzle flip.
The Cost-Effective Route
Arguably the most important reason to upgrade to a P320 barrel from NineX19 is the cost factor. Sig’s own replacement barrels are very expensive; NineX19’s are remarkably competitive on price.
If you’re looking for a barrel that performs on par with the brand itself, or even outperforms it, this is one to look into.
Where You Can Learn More About These Sig P320 Barrels
Interested in learning more about these P320 barrel upgrades before you commit to one? You can learn more online at NineX19 (link above). Take a look through their catalog for product specifics and get in touch with them directly if you have any questions.

What Do You Need with a Glock Kit?
Thinking about building a Glock-style pistol at home with a Glock kit?
These are great handguns, with even better capacity, that can fill a wide range of uses. Glocks are suitable for official duty, home defense, competition, target shooting, and even hunting.
Tumblr media
But if you’re going to do it with a kit, what else do you need?
First, What Comes with a Glock Kit? To know what else you need, first, you need to know what comes with the kit.
Consider the following Glock kit, which can be used to build G17/19/22/26 style pistols. It comes with:
● A firing pin, spring, and cup
● Firing pin safety and spring
● Extractor, depressor plunger, and spring
● Channel liner
● Spacer sleeve
● Steel cover plate
● Guide rod and spring
● Mag release
● Mag catch and spring
● Slide lock and spring
● Slide stop lever and spring
● Connector
● Trigger housing and ejector
● Trigger with bar, spring, and pin
This Glock kit also comes with a barrel (416 steel, with a black nitrided finish, a polished feed ramp, available threaded or non-threaded) as well as an RMR-ready slide (416R steel). Screws are not included.
You’ll Need a Frame Blank The frames of handguns like Glock pistols, which lack receivers are the parts that the ATF requires to be serialized and regulated as firearms.
To complete the build, you’ll either need a finished Glock frame, which will require an FFL transfer, or get a frame blank, such as a Polymer80 frame.
A Jig Kit and Router/Drill and Bits Are Also Necessary If you get a frame blank, you will need to finish machining out the space for the components in the build kit.
Frame blanks are unfinished and in their existing state cannot be used to assemble functional firearms.
You will also need a jig kit, which serves as a template and makes it easier for you to drill out the necessary portions of the frame. For that, you will also need either a drill, a drill press, or a router with the appropriate bits.
If You’re Building, Now’s a Good Time to Get Upgrade Parts, Too Making your own Glock-style pistol is also a good time to invest in upgrades.
For instance, though most if not all kits will come with a barrel, guide rod, and trigger, now is a good time to invest in upgrades for these, like Timney triggers or tungsten guide rods, which you can install when assembling the finished platform.
Get Any Missing Parts You will note that the Glock kit mentioned did not have a magazine, so you will need to get one of those. Some also do not include necessary parts like hardware, so you’ll also need to get them as well.
Also, note that, while the kit mentioned here comes with a slide, not all of them do.
Where Can You Get a Glock Kit? Looking for a Glock kit like this one, along with other Glock parts that you can use to complete a build at home?
Visit MCS Gearup online at MCSGearup.com or contact them at 239-848-6757. They carry a wide range of parts and kits and would be happy to help you find what you need.
