Einzige Änderung scheint es bei der Größe des Displays zu geben, denn dieses löst nach wie vor mit 1.920 x 1.080 Pixel auf. Mit 5,1 Zoll ist es allerdings geringfügig kleiner als die 5,2 Zoll des Sony Xperia Z2. Selbst die Kamera mit 20,7 Megapixeln Auflösung und die Frontkamera mit immerhin 2 Megapixeln kamen bereits seit dem Sony Xperia Z1 zum Einsatz. Insofern kann man das Sony Xperia Z3 eher als eine Art Xperia Z2 Reloaded betrachtet denn als neues Modell.Die Veränderungen dürften sich daher im Allgemeinen auf das Design des Gerätes beschränken sowie punktuelle Verbesserungen in Sachen Display-Darstellung und Bildqualität der Kamera. Es sei denn Sony hat noch die eine oder andere Überraschung für die IFA 2014 parat, die kein Benchmark-Eintrag der Welt einfangen kann. Die Hoffnungen sind allerdings ziemlich gering.

Allerdings gibt der Eintrag in der Datenbank von GfxBench nicht allzu viel her, da der Test anscheinend mittendrin abgebrochen wurde, aus was für Gründen auch immer. Das Einzige was man dem Eintrag entnehmen kann ist eine Auflösung von 1.920 x 1.080 Pixel für das Display, dessen Diagonale unbekannt ist. Den letzten Gerüchten zufolge besitzt das Motorola Shamu ein Display mit 5,9 Zoll. Würde nicht zuletzt auch zum Namen Nexus 6 passen würde. Zum Prozessor gibt es nur Spekulationen, die sich um einen Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core drehen. Ob es sich dabei um die schnellere AC-Variante mit 2,5 GHz handelt ist nicht bekannt.Das Einzige was der Benchmark-Eintrag bestätigt ist die Existenz eines Shamu genannten Gerätes von Motorola. Ob es auch als Nexus 6 auf den Markt kommt ist nicht gänzlich gesichert, auch wenn es vom Namensschema her passen würde. Google verwendet für seine Nexus-Geräte immer ein Meerestier. Außerdem hat LG bereits abgestritten sich dieses Jahr erneut für das Nexus-Smartphone verantwortlich zu zeichnen.

Letztlich zeigt auch das mögliche Nexus 6 von Motorola, dass größere technologische Sprünge in der Oberklasse für Smartphones nicht zu erwarten sind in nächster Zukunft, was unter anderem Samsung, HTC, LG und auch Sony bisher zeigten oder noch zeigen werden. Gerade das Sony Xperia Z3 verdeutlicht das auf eher unschöne Weise, da es sich technisch quasi um ein Xperia Z2 handelt.Einzig das Betriebssystem Android L dürfte neue Akzente setzen mit seinen zahlreichen Verbesserungen und neuen Funktionen. Noch ist es aber zu früh das Nexus 6 bzw. Motorola Shamu als ideenlos zu bezeichnen. Zumindest nicht solange weitere Eckdaten zu dem Gerät bekannt sind.Wie zuständige USB 3.0 Promoter Group via Pressemitteilung bekannt gegeben hat, sind die Entwicklungen am neuen USB-Standard nun abgeschlossen. Damit einhergehend liegen auch die neuen Steckverbindungen für USB-Geräte vor, welche in Zukunft für USB-Kabel und andere USB-Geräte verwendet werden können. Neben einer enormen Leistungssteigerung im Bereich Datenübertragung und Energieversorgung ist es die Steckerform, die USB Type-C so besonders macht.

Zwar sind die Stecker mit 8,3 x 2,5 mm fast gleich groß zu aktuellen MicroUSB 2.0 Steckern, können aber von beiden Seiten in die Buchse gesteckt werden. Bei dem aktuell noch gültigen Standard ist nur eine Seite möglich. Damit orientiert sich die USB 3.0 Promoter Group am Lightning-Standard von Apple, wo diese Eigenart bereits seit dem iPhone 5 genutzt wird.Auf technischer Seite macht USb Type-C ebenfalls einen enormen Sprung nach vorne. So können in der finalen Ausbaustufe basierend auf USB 3.1 bis zu 10 Gigabit pro Sekunde an Daten übertragen werden. Zunächst werden jedoch lediglich 5 Gigabit pro Sekunde unterstützt, was noch immer deutlich mehr als die maximalen 480 Megabit pro Sekunde von USB 2.0 sind. Auch bei der Energieversorgung gibt ein paar Veränderungen. So sind bis zu 100 Watt bei 5 Ampere und 20 Volt möglich. Bisher waren es maximal 4,5 Watt bei 900 Milliampere und 5 Volt. Einschränkungen wird es nur bei den verwendeten Kabeln geben.

Das heißt auf längere Sicht auch, dass Netzteile und USB-Kabel gegen Neue ausgetauscht werden müssen. Das muss aber nicht sofort erfolgen, da mit Hilfe von Adaptern der neue Standard komplett abwärtskompatibel ist bis hin zu USB 2.0.Das fragliche Gerät wird in der Datenbank des Benchmarks GfxBench als Google Nexus Foo geführt, wobei Foo nicht der finale Name sein dürfte. Stattdessen handelt es sich um einen Platzhalter wie er für gewöhnlich in Programmiersprachen genutzt wird. Außerdem sind einige vermerkte Details zu dem Gerät von Google irreführend. Zum Beispiel soll das Display 10,3 Zoll groß sein und eine für Tablets ungewöhnliche Auflösung von 1.920 x 1.080 Pixel besitzen. Was ebenfalls merkwürdig ist: Es soll keinen Touchscreen besitzen.Ebenfalls irritierend ist das Fehlen der für Tablets üblichen Kameras auf der Vorder- und Rückseite der Geräte, sowie die Tatsache, dass lediglich Bluetooth und WLAN verbaut sind. Die sonst üblichen Sensoren wie Helligkeit, Beschleunigung, Bewegung und so weiter sind laut dem Eintrag nicht verbaut. Ein Tegra 4 von NVIDIA gepaart mit 2 GB Arbeitsspeicher und 16 GB internem Flash-Speicher deuten wiederum auf ein Tablet hin.

Der wohl größte irritierende Punkt ist jedoch das Betriebssystem. Angegeben wird Android KKWT und dabei handelt es sich um das speziell für SmartWatches entwickelte Android Wear. Auch die Angabe von OpenGL ES 2.0 ist ein Indiz für Android Wear, da ab Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OpenGL ES 3.0 für Smartphones und Tablets unterstützt wird.Um was für ein Gerät es sich bei dem Google Nexus Foo handelt ist somit aus aktueller Sicht vollkommen unklar. Es wird bereits vermutet, dass sich jemand lediglich einen größeren Scherz erlaubt hat, da man die für solche Benchmarks relevanten Daten mit ein wenig Aufwand fälschen kann. Andererseits könnt es sich auch um einen Prototypen für ein komplett neuartiges Gerät der Nexus-Reihe handeln, von dem wir noch gar nichts wissen. So wie damals das Nexus Q, ein Kugelförmiger Medienplayer, dem ein größerer Erfolg versagt blieb.

Das Update auf die Firmware mit der Buildnummer XNPH30O wird seit dieser Nacht über den OTA-Weg verteilt und basiert auf dem aktuellen Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Abgesehen von der neuen Basis für das Betriebssystem haben die Entwickler von CyanogenMod Inc. zahlreiche Fehler der bisherigen Firmware behoben. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Wischgeste zum Öffnen der Kamera aus dem Standby heraus, das Zuschneiden von Hintergrundbildern oder das Sprachkommando Okay Google in Google Now.Abseits der üblichen Fehlerkorrekturen dürfte eine Sache viele Besitzer freuen: Das Display des OnePlus One ist nun kälter eingestellt, womit die Darstellung des Display nicht mehr so gelbdominiert sein sollte. Weiterhin schaltet sich das OnePlus One nicht mehr aus Versehen in Taschen ein. Dazu nutzt der Hersteller den Helligkeitssensor, der genau solche Situationen verhindern soll.Wer das volle Potential des Gerätes ausnutzt und mit Custom ROMs experimentiert, der wird sich über eine Unterstützung der kapazitiven Tasten im Recovery-Menü freuen. Zumal die Helligkeit der kapazitiven Tasten nach dem Update selbst höher eingestellt ist und diese somit besser sichtbar.

Die Unterstützung für das RAW-Format scheint aber noch nicht implementiert zu sein.So teilt sich das Samsung Galaxy Note 4 etliche Design-Elemente mit seinen Vorgängern, wozu die physische Home-Taste gehört. Fans der OnScreen-Tasten von Android müssen also weiterhin darauf verzichten bei Samsung. Von seinem Vorgänger übernimmt das Phablet die Kunststoff-Rückseite mit einer Leder-ähnlichen Oberfläche. Insgesamt wirkt das Smartphone noch eckiger, was sich bereits mit dem Samsung Galaxy Alpha ankündigte.Frühere Gerüchte zum Samsung Galaxy Note 4 sprachen unter anderem von einem Rahmen aus echtem Metall anstatt eines chrom-lackierten Kunststoff-Rahmens. Die aufgetauchten Bilder bestätigen in gewisser Weise diese Behauptung, da an einigen Stellen der Rahmen von Kunststoff-Elementen durchsetzt ist, was so üblicherweise bei Geräten der Fall ist, wo der Metall-Rahmen als Teil der Antenne dient.

Information Leaks Reveal That Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Has Shelved Plans To Manufacture Pixel Phones

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google has abandoned its plans to release one of its upcoming Pixel phones; the Google Pixel XL 2 otherwise codenamed ‘muskie’. Information from three reliable sources has it that LG will take over the manufacturing process of Pixel XLs successor. The same has also been confirmed by Android Police’s sources thus, it ceases to be a rumor.

However, there are many speculations as to why the switch by the search giant. The delayed shipping of the original Pixel Smartphones has been picked up as one of the major issues. Nonetheless, 9To5Google has also outlined a possible investment by Google in LG for flexible OLED displays.

But the switch by Google may not be all bad news after all

The world of technology is evolving quite fast given that Google’s Pixel handsets debuted just last year. Initially, it was known that Google was working on two models; muskie and Taimen. The latter is reportedly much larger than the Pixel 2 XL and its size has been inclined to that of the 6-inch Nexus 6, codenamed Shamu. The question is, is it possible that Google was prototyping on different sizes perhaps to see which one would have been the best for the second-generation?

Apparently, the news of Google’s switch from manufacturing ‘muskie’, has been received with mixed reactions. To many, it is not bad news because they think the move will give the search giant time to work on Taimen, which is the third model of Google Pixel 2. If the latest rumor is anything to go by, then Google would be releasing Taimen in the place of Google Pixel 2 XL.

With all these mixed up information, there is a likelihood of ending up with two different designs of the said devices. On the other hand, it is worth noting that for some time now LG has been seeking to obtain a production contract for Google Pixel 3. Meanwhile, all the information remains a speculation because Google could change its position. In the meantime, Alphabets stock closed at $967.93 a fall of $2.57 or 0.26%.

Hier würde sich die IFA 2014 im September in Berlin anbieten.

So soll es sich bei dem Moto S um ein Smartphone handeln, dass ein 5,2 Zoll großes Display besitzt mit einer Auflösung von 2.560 x 1.440 Pixel. Der Arbeitsspeicher ist mit 3 GB auf dem Niveau eines Oberklasse-Smartphones und der verbaute Prozessor sowieso. Denn dabei soll es sich um einen Snapdragon 805 handeln, dessen vier Kerne mit bis zu 2,7 GHz zu Werke gehen und von einer Adreno 420 GPU unterstützt werden. Auch die Kamera wächst deutlich an, denn sie soll Fotos mit 13 Megapixel aufnehmen, während die Frontkamera mit ihren 2,1 Megapixel ebenfalls dem bekannten Standard entspricht.Als Betriebssystem ist Android L angegeben, was sich bis zum Marktstart irgendwann dieses oder nächstes Jahr wohl kaum noch ändern dürfte. Microsoft wollte Google in diesem Segment allerdings nicht gänzlich das Feld überlassen. Die HP Stream-Reihe ist dabei eine erste Alternativ-Serie zu den Chromebooks. Diese setzt dabei nicht auf Cloud-Lösungen von Google, sondern stattdessen auf Windows 8.1 und OneDrive von Microsoft. In einem Reparaturhandbuch von HP sind nun die Details zur günstigsten Version des HP Stream für 199 US-Dollar aufgetaucht.Das preiswerteste Modell setzt auf eine SoC-Lösung von AMD, nämlich den A4 Micro-6400T mit vier Kernen und einer Taktrate von 1,0 GHz. Die integrierte GPU Radeon R3 zieht lediglich 4,5 Watt und dürfte so nur sehr eingeschränkt an der Akkukapazität saugen. Das vorliegende Dokument bei MobileGeeks von HP deutet außerdem darauf hin, dass kein aktiver Lüfter zum Einsatz kommen wird. Dies sollte für eine deutlich angenehmere Betriebslautstärke im Alltag sorgen. Neben der Technik von AMD verbaut HP zwei GB an Arbeitsspeicher, die allerdings fest verlötet sind und nicht durch den Benutzer ausgetauscht oder erweitert werden können. Das kleinste HP Stream wird wahlweise mit 32 oder 64 GB Flashspeicher angeboten werden, hier gibt es also keine Überraschung und man bewegt sich in etwa auf einem Level mit den gängigen Chromebooks. Der Bildschirm des Notebooks weist eine Diagonale 14-Zoll auf und löst mit 1.366 x 768 Pixel auf. Wie man es von Chromebooks kennt, wird die günstigere Variante auch ohne Touchscreen angeboten, teurere Versionen sollten diesen allerdings mit sich bringen. Insgesamt dürfte die verbaute Hardware für einfache Aufgaben genügend Power bieten.

Wer unterwegs Fotos bearbeiten oder archivieren möchte, der kann den vorhanden SD-Kartenleser dazu nutzen. Ein externes Display lässt sich via HDMI mit dem HP Stream Notebook verbinden. Der Akku weist eine Kapazität von 2.960 mAh auf, mit rund 1,75 kg scheint das HP Stream allerdings kein absolutes Leichtgewicht zu werden. Da der interne Speicherplatz relativ begrenzt ist, können Käufer für zwei Jahre lang kostenlos Microsofts OneDrive-Clouddienst mit einer Kapazität von 100 GB nutzen.

Ein Termin und Preis für Europa steht noch nicht fest, man kann allerdings mit rund 200-250 Euro rechnen. Der Aufpreis für ein Modell mit Touchscreen dürfte in etwa 70-100 Euro betragen, wie man es von den entsprechenden Chromebooks her bereits kennt. Schlussendlich wäre die HP Stream-Reihe damit eine weitere preiswerte Alternative für Liebhaber preiswerter Notebooks mit Fokus auf Cloud-Lösungen.Wer nächste Woche seine Lebensmittel bei ALDI einkauft, der wird in den Regalen auch das Nokia Lumia 630 Smartphone finden. Es wird ab dem 28. August 2014 zu einem Preis von lediglich 109 Euro angeboten. Ein echtes Schnäppchen wie wir finden. Bei bekannten Online-Shops kostet das Handy mit Windows Phone 8.1 Betriebssystem knapp 20 Euro mehr. Somit heißt es wohl, schnell zuschlagen.

Google Pixel 2 is massive

Google likes big smartphones. Until the Nexus 6P, every Google smartphone was bigger than its predecessor but now that trend looks back on course as a potentially massive new Pixel 2 has been uncovered…

Building on news earlier this week that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are being developed under the codenames "muskie" and "walleye," Droid Life has confirmed “via multiple sources” that a third Pixel is also in development called “taimen”. And this tells us a lot.

In short: Google is famed for its (bizarre) obsession with fish-based smartphone codenames and the dimensions of each fish is always a factor:

So, for those not familiar with Google’s latest fish, muskies (circa 17kg / 38lbs) are significantly larger than walleyes (11kg / 24lbs) but taimen are truly massive and can weigh over 100kg / 220 lbs. This strongly hints that Google is going very big with its third Pixel smartphone. And with Samsung increasing its 2016 Galaxy S smartphones from 5.1-inches and 5.5-inches to 5.8-inches and 6.2-inches in 2017, the stage is set for Google to create a ‘Pixel XXL’ monster. Then again there is also the possibly (given the dramatic size difference of a taimen) that Google is looking to re-enter the tablet space, something it has ignored since 2014’s poorly received 8.9-inch Nexus 9. Or perhaps follow-up the 2015 10.2-inch Pixel C hybrid.

Either way, codename history suggests Google has big plans for the premium Pixel brand it has been carefully crafting since the first Pixel Chromebook in 2013. And in this case, ‘big’ really does suggest massive…
