Pressure
i got the brainworms bad and this wouldn't leave me alone until i got it written - featuring @merge-conflict's thieving lil shit, Valentine đź’• thank you for allowing me to bully your gremlin once again
No explicit ship, but these two are weird about each other Summary: Smasher left a job half done; one of Valentine's arms still fleshy. Victoria considers tying up the loose end. Warnings for intentional bodily harm, both past and present.
It was endearing how Valentine looked when she was caught unawares; not quite a deer in the headlights, but something close – a slacking to the jaw, brows lifted from their usual furrow, eyes wide enough that she could almost see the thoughts in a flurry behind them, as if her touch was the last thing expected. Utterly and heart-achingly endearing.
More so with how her heart fluttered in rapid beats, betrayed in her reach for neutrality by the rampant pulse caught between Victoria’s fingers. She’s held prisoners with slower heart rates, but never quite as gentle. Never touched those destined for death as tenderly as her fingers slide over the sharp point of knuckles. Still flesh, still human unlike its opposite.
A job Smasher left half done. Â
She hums at that thought, leaves it unspoken despite how Valentine’s expression turns more questioning as she ghosts along bony fingers, dipping under to brush smooth chrome against calloused skin. Likely from her time spent gallivanting about in the gutter, as hardened and cracked as the ground she hit running.
Her fingers curl, slow to grip at first until the vice tightens. The delicate bones beneath move with her strength, crushed inwards. It’s different on this end. She remembers the creaks and whine of bone in her eardrums, rising into a cacophony of a sickening crunch. She could hear it even over her own voice, the desperate begging she was above and yet sank to. All for nothing.
Smasher had been relentless in the face of it. Hardly regarded it at all as his hand trailed upwards, a mockery of a lover’s caress leaving not goosebumps but agony in his wake until it proved too much to remain awake against.
And yet—
All it takes is a sharp breath sucked in through teeth for her to stop. Not pause, but stop. Her grip easing, fingertips returning to their gentle ghosting against skin, massaging into aching knuckles. A simple miscalculation of strength if Valentine were to ask.
But she doesn’t, not as Victoria’s hand retreats across the table to take refuge in the hold of a near-empty coffee cup as she distracts herself with a needless glance over of the meeting room once more.
The surprised and questioning expressions are gone now, replaced by something entirely too knowing that she refuses to meet.Â
#cyberpunk 2077#corpo v#Valentine#Victoria Crane#my writing#fic tag#ship: nfwmb#im working on a longer piece with these two but god this idea wouldn't leave me alone either#idk what's going on between them and to be frank they don't either#its not romantic but it is mutually possessive#just a totally normal corpo rivalry#there is so much inflicting hand trauma in their circle its not even funny (it is)

Easy Tips to Keep Your Gutter Spouts Safe and Working!
Caring for your home is super important, especially regarding your gutter spouts. In Victoria, rainstorms can happen anytime, and if your gutters aren't working well, it can cause big problems. Did you know that more than 30% of home insurance claims are because of water damage from broken gutters? Let's make sure your gutter spouts stay safe and in top shape!
What Are Gutter Spouts?
Gutter spouts (or downspouts) are the pipes that carry water from your roof to the ground. They help keep rainwater away from your house so it doesn't flood or damage the foundation. But sometimes, things like leaves or dirt get stuck in them, which can cause problems.
Common Problems with Gutter Spouts
Clogs: Leaves, twigs, and debris can clog your spouts, stopping water from flowing. This can make water pool on your roof and cause leaks.
Rust: In Victoria, salty air and rain can cause metal spouts to rust. Rust can also cause holes, allowing water to spill onto walls and damaging homes.
Leaks: Sometimes, gutter spouts leak where they connect to your roof. Over time, this can cause mold, water stains, and even more damage.
Why Fixing Gutter Spouts Is Important
Victoria's weather can change quickly, with heavy rain and wind. If your gutter spouts are clogged or damaged, water can overflow, causing flooding around your home. Even worse, standing water can attract mosquitoes and lead to mold, which is terrible for your health.
How EverClean Can Help
EverClean is the best choice for fixing your gutter spouts in Victoria. They have experts who can clean, repair, or replace your gutter spouts. They also offer solutions like gutter guards that stop leaves from clogging your spouts. One happy customer said, "EverClean saved us from major water damage! Their team was quick and professional."
Easy Ways to Take Care of Your Gutter Spouts
Taking care of your gutter spouts is easy! Here's what you can do:
Clean them regularly: Clear out leaves and debris so they don't block the water.
Check for rust or leaks: If you see rust or water dripping, call EverClean to fix it before it worsens.
Keeping your gutter spouts in good condition will protect your home and keep it safe from water damage.

Our roads were paved with wood.
Sometimes known as Nicholson Paving, wooden blocks were used in St Petersburg in 1820 and Manchester in 1838.They were first suggested for Melbourne and Sydney streets in the early 1840s to overcome ongoing problems of sticky mud in winter and clouds of dust in summer.
But the honour of having Australia’s first wood paved streets goes to Echuca on the Murray River in 1867. Test sections were laid in Melbourne at Spencer Street in 1880, and by March 1881 the wood paved intersection of Collins and Swanston streets was opened to traffic.
Hailed as being easy on horses hooves, clean, noiseless, low maintenance and durable solution to problems of street surfacing, hardwood blocks were laid vertically and coated annually with tar, a byproduct of the numerous coal-gas plants around the city.
Western Australian hardwoods were the undisputed kings of wood pavers, with Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) and Karri (E. diversicolor) used extensively to pave the streets of London in 1893 and later in Freemantle in 1898.
Blue Gum (E. globulus), Gippsland Grey Box (E. bosistoana) and River Red Gum, then known as E. rostrata were the most common species used for paving in Victoria because of their inherent strength, durability and hardness as well as their ready availability from State forest and private land.
The Forbes Sawmill at Briagolong was one of many that cut red gum for street paving during the 1880s, while the forests along the Murray River also produced millions of blocks. The Goodwood Sawmill in the Mullungdung State forest near Yarram was a big supplier of durable Yellow Stringybark (E. muelleriana) to the Public Works Department. In 1897, A. C. Mountain published "Wood-paving in Australia", in which he recorded 112 acres of wood paving in Melbourne streets. That roughly equates to a staggering twenty million blocks.
By 1915 wood paving extended to most streets of central Melbourne, as well as many in the inner suburbs.Wood paving blocks were also used to build a new electric tram route across South Melbourne to St Kilda as late as 1925.
Bluestone blocks were more common in laneways and along gutters.
But by the 1930s wood paving was being replaced with concrete and the old tar-impregnated blocks became a popular substitute for firewood.
In 1954 the Melbourne City Council distributed 500 tons to pensioners for winter fuel.

One thing they all have in common is that they have experience with the process and they know their craft. That's why we are here. We are Victoria's best deck builders and we want to help your home thrive by creating great custom decks for you.

Deck builder is a perfect place to start your project to the design that suits you best and are not restrictive in any way. You can talk to the team, ask for your ideas, discuss requirements and ensure satisfaction before you proceed with building your deck.
What material should I choose for my deck?
deck builders Victoria bc are by far the most skilled, experienced and knowledgeable professional deck builders in all of Canada. With decades of experience under our belt, we build awesome decks that exceed all expectations! Our work speaks for itself as we have been recognized with many awards and testimonials from happy clients.
Choosing the proper material for your deck is important. You want to get the look and feel that you're going for without sacrificing durability.
How do I know how much it will cost me to build a deck?
We're glad you asked! The first step is to estimate the square footage of your deck. Start by measuring the length and width of your deck, then multiply them together to get the total square footage. Then, divide that number by .15 (the estimated coverage area per gallon of paint) to determine how many gallons your project will need.
If you are going to build a deck all on your own, the first thing you will have to do is install a ledger board. If your house does not have a ledger board installed or needs to be replaced, make sure you get this step done prior to starting any building.
What are the best practices for building a safe and strong home's structure?
The most important waterproofing method is ensuring that the foundation and walls are all sound. The building inspector will put pressure on you to ensure the foundation is dried in properly. If there is a quality roof over the structure, the house is less likely to leak. Quality gutters will ensure water runs off away from the house rather than pooling behind it. To ensure maximum waterproofing, be sure to cover seams with mastic sealant and caulk, and fill any cracks or holes with caulking compound before painting over them.
In order to build a safe and strong home, we need to address the most important part of a house's design: its foundation. A good foundation will support the home for years to come and help it withstand even the harshest weather conditions. As we learned in this post, strong foundations take time to build, but the effort is worth it because a well-built foundation can protect you from costly repairs later on down the line. Now that we understand what makes a good foundation, let's look at some common construction techniques used by builders to strengthen their work.
Conclusion: Building or renovating your dream home starts with us!
The passion we have for building custom decks is only matched by our attention to quality, and building you a premium deck that adds significant value to your home. We are Victoria's top deck builders, and we take great pride in the reputation we've built over the past decade. We thank you for the opportunity to be considered for this fantastic project in your home!

The Essentials of Window Cleaning Melbourne
Window Cleaning Melbourne is an essential part of your house chores. Every household cleans their windows, at different times every day and on alternate days. No matter how often you clean your windows, it is important to realize that the different kinds of windows in your house or your car need a different pattern of cleaning. So, if you are intending to clean glass windows, the solution will be different from that of a vinyl widow or tinted windows. Therefore, it is important that you know how to undertake the task properly and safely. Below is the step by step instruction of how to clean the various types of windows.
How to Clean Windows made of Glass
Glass windows are the most common type of windows that are used in both modern and traditional buildings as well as cars. But since they are made of glass, you have to be careful that rough cleaning and handling will give your windows scratches and unwanted marks which should be avoided. Therefore, to clean glass windows you can opt for one of the commercial cleaning agents marketed for this purpose. You can also choose to make your own window cleaner too. This will save your money spent on expensive materials. You will need vinegar, rubbing alcohol, dish soaps, ammonia and some warm water. You can also make another cleaning solution of corn starch, ammonia, water to clean your window. Choose the solution that is readily available to you and clean your glass windows with a soft sponge or soft cloth to ensure that there are no scratches.
How to Clean Vinyl Windows
If you live in one of those houses which have vinyl glass, you have got to be careful. Vinyl glass is extremely convenient for the modern house because of their replacement quality and their ability to be taken out completely for cleaning purposes. However, the cleaning of vinyl glass is a little more complicated than with glass windows. The reason for this is that these windows are less scratch resistant and therefore, difficult to deal with. However, you can make specialized window cleaner for vinyl windows as well. Get yourself some Murphy's oil soap, vinegar, some dish soap or detergent to do the window cleaning. The Murphy's oil soap is relevant here because it helps in getting rid of those water spots that often form on your windows. So, clean the vinyl windows using these ingredients and always use a soft cloth.
How to Clean Tinted Windows
Tinted windows in your car or office also need special care in their cleaning, especially to retain the tint of the glass. You have to be sure that you do not use ammonia or ammonia included soaps because they are too strong for your tinted windows and can even destroy the tint to a certain extent with prolonged use. So, use a mild soap to clean your tinted windows and get spectacular, clean windows.
All in all, choosing a professional window cleaning service to take care of your home is ultimately a cost-effective, practical, and safe solution that will provide stunning results you couldn't achieve on your own.

The Benefits of Carpet Cleaning Hoppers Crossing
Carpets are a highly popular flooring option for homes because they're warm and soft and make the whole family feel welcome and at home. Clean carpets are central to this feeling, and vacuuming, even as frequently as once a week, isn't enough to keep carpets truly clean through the wearing activities of the day. Regular home life demands a lot from carpets, and professional carpet cleaning is the best way to keep them in great condition. There are many benefits of carpet cleaning, not the least of which is that it contributes to the great feeling everyone gets from walking barefoot on freshly cleaned carpets. Call today for your personal, professional carpet cleaning consultation and let the experts show you how your home can seem new again through clean carpets.
There is a thought that professional carpet cleaning uses damaging chemicals, but this isn't the case. Modern carpet cleaning methods, specifically hot water extraction, uses water heated to more than 200 degrees Fahrenheit to remove dirt and particles and clean the carpets. The pressurized water loosens stains, dirt and other mites, which is all removed through the industrial vacuuming equipment. Hot water extraction is also entirely soap free, safe for all carpets and, most importantly, is safe for kids, pets and the environment. There is no residue left behind and your carpets will feel healthy and pure.
One of the main benefits of professional carpet cleaning is that it reduces the level of allergens in your home. Carpet attracts bits and pieces that come in from the windows, which fall from shoes or enter the home in any amount of ways. Carpet is almost like a filter because it keeps all those particles snug within its fibers. However, when kids and pets lay on the carpet they're getting close to those sometimes harmful particles, and vacuuming can even bring them close to the carpet surface without removing them, causing allergy flare ups and irritations.
The same particles that cause allergies in your family can also cause depreciation to your carpet fibers. Dirt, stains and microscopic materials can get wedged in your carpeting and wear the fibers down, especially in high traffic areas where particles are being stamped in more frequently. Eventually, those particles will cause visible wear in addition to a distinct roughness under bare feet, and in time the carpeting will need to be replaced. Stains have the same adverse effects and are highly visible, even after the application of store bought carpet cleaners.
Homeowners today are just as interested in the environmental consequences of their actions as they are about the effects of the products they use, and professional Carpet Cleaning Hoppers Crossing meets all expectations. The hot water extraction method accepted by professional carpet cleaners is eco friendly because it relies on extremely hot temperatures to loosen particles, remove stains and sanitize carpets. Even the conditioners, stain removers and protectors used in certain carpets are environmentally friendly, and wash away neatly. There is no residue left behind in your carpets and nothing polluting to the environment, so homeowners can relax knowing their clean carpets are not at the expense of the planet
One of the greatest benefits of modern professional carpet cleaning methods is that they practically eliminate the drying period for all types of carpets, reducing it down to just one hour. With hot water extraction cleaning, the water and all of the particles and dirt with it are entirely removed because of the industrial suctioning equipment, so there's nothing left behind. Not only does this give carpets the truest clean, it means carpets will be ready for furniture and regular life in no time. There's also no risk of mold or mildew build up because there's no dampness. Carpets are clean and fresh through and through, and will remain soft and fluffy for many months to come.
VicCleaning provides a wide range of professional cleaning services to domestic and commercial clients across Victoria. Friday/Monday 4-7 September
Friday
TGIF – although I have no idea why.  Every day is like every other day at present.  We had planned to take a long drive to Dargo today, but I think we were both still suffering a little from being thrown around on the rough roads on Wednesday so we decided to take another day to recuperate.
We went out for a 3+ km walk in the afternoon, just around the district nearby, but apart from that, we were in and around the van all day. Â We watched a DVD before our walk and I made a few phone calls and paid some bills including our unit levies. There is a different way of paying them from this quarter and it took me over an hour to set up and pay the 5 invoices for our apartment and each of its appurtenances. Â At least that was a one-off and it should make payment easier in the future.
Saturday
We took a really long drive today – just a shade under 600 km.  We wanted to check out some of the caravan parks further east from here in case there was an easing of the lockdown rules when Dan announces his proposed way out of the crisis tomorrow.
We needed to buy a few comestibles in the morning and ended up at both Coles and Woolworths without quite completing our shopping list at either. Â After examining the map, our main objective was Marlo. Â We were looking for a central location a fair bit further east in the hope that we could base ourselves at a place where the rest of Gippsland was within comfortable reach. Â Orbost looked to be about the most central, but Marlo looked to be a little more scenic.
We started out on the main highway but detoured through Bruthen after Sale and thence more-or-less straight through Orbost and on to Marlo. Â We sat by the mouth of the Snowy River and ate lunch and then checked out the local caravan parks. Â They were passable but really nothing special so we decided that the scenic aspect would not trump the extra 40-odd kilometres we would need to drive every time we went for an outing. Â We looked at the only caravan park in Orbost and it looked quite acceptable so when we are able to move, I think that will be out target. Â We went on to check out several more parks at Lake Tylers, Nowa Nowa, and Lakes Entrance but none of them really looked any better than the Orbost one. By then it was getting dark so we basically hit the highway and headed straight back to Warragul, stopping only at Traralgon to top up with more cheap fuel. Â We had planned to get fish and chips for dinner, but we knew that the shop closed at 8 pm and we may not have got back in time to purchase anything. Â In desperation, we had another superb meal of kofta that we had cooked a couple of days ago.
We never even put a DVD on after dinner. Â It was getting late (for us) so we just read until we fell asleep.
Sunday
What a beautiful day it was!  Warm and sunny all day with hardly a cloud to be seen.  It was Father’s Day.  Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there, including to a few of the female fathers who had to be mother and father at times.
We went for a long walk after breakfast.  It was a slightly truncated version of the 8 km walk along the Hazel Creek that we did a couple of weeks ago.  It is just along the track behind the caravan but then across the highway and up to the northern edge of town.  We didn’t go quite to the end but it was still some worthwhile exercise and an enjoyable walk.
We had a few little tasks to do around the van.  We defrosted and restocked the fridge, did some hand washing, cleaned a bit of mould off some normally unseen damp surfaces, repacked most of our liquid refreshments under the bed, and so on.  I also washed thousands of squashed bugs off the windscreen and lights on the car.  (That was the second time I have had to do that in two days – and they are really hard to remove for some reason.  Maybe a special breed of Gippsland insects whose corpses stick to glass like limpets.)
I had some lovely Father’s Day messages and phone calls from the kids and we spoke to almost all of them on the phone so it was a lovely family day and I felt quite special despite the limitations on contact.  The news from the Premier that we had all been pinning our hopes on was really discouraging and it is so hard for the family and everyone else in Melbourne.  At least those of us in regional Victoria have retained the same level of freedom we had, even if there was no relaxation of the rules and little prospect of (ever) meeting the somewhat absurd and unrealistic targets.
In the absence of any good news, we made our own! We had another serving of our wonderful home-made meatloaf for dinner!
Monday
It was another wonderful sunny day and we made the most of it. Â We had been deferring any exploration of Nayook because the Rainforest Walk there was classified as level 3 with very steep climbs and descents. Â But it was only about 2 km long so we decided to give it a go. Â Glen Nayook is about 10 km from Noojee on a road we have travelled quite a few times.
The walk was a little challenging, but a lovely place to wander.  There are some very steep parts and the track is nearly always narrow and single file.  It has lots of steps, but they are not well-maintained and potentially quite hazardous in numerous places.  There are very few handrails although some that were there had obviously fallen down the hill (hopefully not when walkers were holding on to them).  We were serenaded by a full orchestra of birds for much of the route, but they were very high in the trees and I only had fleeting glimpses of two birds during the whole walk – both much too far away to identify.  There were lots of tree ferns and most of the trees were mammoths, beautifully smooth and straight for what seemed to be 50 metres or so before the first branches appeared. Magnificent and obviously quite old.  There was a delightful creek gurgling through the undergrowth at the bottom of the descent.  The creek almost glowed in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy - but it was all uphill from there!
One interesting feature was the amount of biggish animal droppings on many of the steps. Â No idea of their origin though. Â They looked to me most like emu droppings, but there would certainly not be any emus in the area. Â Definitely not wallabies, wombats, koalas, etc., so it is intriguing what other animals might be there that were large enough (and plentiful enough) to leave the deposits.
We ate our lunch in Noojee and then drove up the Loch Valley road.  It was a very interesting drive through the forest with the road deteriorating as we drove north.  There were several signs warning of logging operations but we saw none – other than a few clear-felled areas and the obvious damage to the roads.  We branched off on a road (technically, a track!) that went through to Tanjil Bren that we had visited a few weeks ago.  It is as far as you are allowed to drive into the mountains without chains. It was a rather adventurous drive, requiring pretty focussed attention, along a very narrow, rocky track with lots of potholes, water hazards, a few patches of snow and fallen trees partially across the track.  We love this sort of place.  It feels very remote and isolated, although we did encounter a few cars, fortunately all in places where one of us could get far enough off the track to let the other pass.  One place where we encountered a small truck was just after I had run over a shiny black snake.  I saw it slithering across the road and braked to avoid it, but I think I may have driven over the end of its tail.  I stopped to look back at it and saw it slither into the gutter with the tip of its tail at an odd angle.  While i was watching it, a truck came the other way so I had to leave the snake and drive a 30-40 metres to a place where we could pass.  We told the chap about the snake and he said he would look for it, but obviously it was gone by then.  Interestingly, where we stopped, we saw several small birds – probably more birds that we had seen all day.
From Tanjil Bren, we just took the main road back to Warragul. Â We called in at Rokeby to suss out a longish walk we are considering and found that there is another shorter one there too. Â We will probably give that a try before doing the longer one.
Back in Warragul, we went to Bunnings to return a ceramic radiator we had purchased a couple of months ago.  We had tried it a couple of times but Heather can’t bear the smell of it so we returned it with the intention of getting a non-ceramic one.  Alas, radiators have been replaced with fans and cooling devices in Warragul so we will have to make do with our other forms of heating until Autumn.

City Centre Masterplan
City Centre Masterplan -
In 2010 Fort Lane underwent a facelift. Restaurant exhausts were redirected, and the patchwork of asphalt was replaced with homogenous paving. This was apart of the City Centre Master plan that intends to create a Laneway circuit of shared spaces around the CBD. The pdf, linked below, shows the North South relationship of fort lane however, the second masterplan goal is to stich the east (Parnell) and west (Victoria park) industrial areas of the city making them a place to “go to not go through”.
Fort Lane has the potential to materialise this connection with the cross-section of three laneways.
This sketch explores the threshold between pedestrian and vehicles, illustrated by the gutter.

This image explores the catalytic moment of an object being held before being transported between Lanes.

These experimentation's have led to ideas around the scale of body, relationship of body and surface, and the breaking point of material, which will be explored in further blogs.
