In today’s fast-paced world, health and wellness have become an essential part of people's daily routines. Whether individuals aim to lose weight, gain muscle, or simply maintain a healthy lifestyle, fitness apps have emerged as indispensable tools. A fitness app, especially one with a calorie counter feature, helps users keep track of their activities, monitor their nutrition, and stay motivated to reach their fitness goals. This blog explores how a Fitness App Development Company can help you create a custom fitness app with an integrated calorie counter application and more.
At CQLsys Technologies, we specialize in developing highly functional, user-friendly, and feature-rich fitness mobile app solutions that meet the diverse needs of businesses, fitness enthusiasts, and healthcare providers alike. Whether you are a fitness startup, a gym, or a health-tech company, we offer tailored fitness software development solutions that will elevate your business and engage your customers.
The Growing Need for Fitness & Wellness Apps
With the increasing focus on health and fitness, the demand for fitness and wellness apps has skyrocketed. These apps not only help users keep track of their physical activities but also allow them to monitor their dietary intake and make informed health decisions. Wearable fitness app development is another area where we see significant growth, as devices like fitness trackers and smartwatches provide real-time data that users can integrate with their fitness apps.
Fitness apps serve as a workout tracking mobile app, a diet and nutrition app, or even a personal trainer app for individuals looking for personalized workout plans. A calorie counter application embedded in these apps can help users track their food intake and manage their caloric consumption effectively. This data, combined with workout performance metrics, enables users to achieve their health goals faster and more efficiently.
Benefits of Having a Custom Fitness App with a Calorie Counter Feature

1. Empowering Users to Track Their Fitness Journey
The primary advantage of a fitness app with a calorie counter is that it allows users to track their progress. This can include monitoring the number of calories burned during a workout, keeping a record of the calories consumed through food, and maintaining a balance between intake and expenditure. A calorie and nutrient tracker offers detailed breakdowns of food items, allowing users to analyze their diet and adjust it accordingly for their fitness goals.
A custom fitness tracker development solution ensures that the app caters specifically to the needs of your target audience, whether they are bodybuilders, runners, or beginners looking to get fit. Additionally, integrating features such as a fitness coaching app development can further enhance the app’s effectiveness by offering personalized coaching to users.
2. Building a Personalized Fitness Experience
Every fitness journey is unique. With personalized fitness plans, users are more likely to stick to their routines. Personalized fitness app development focuses on offering tailored workout routines based on a user’s fitness level, goals, and preferences. The inclusion of a workout tracker app development allows users to log their workouts, monitor progress over time, and adjust their goals as they get fitter.
By integrating a best calorie tracker app feature, users can get real-time feedback on their calorie consumption and make adjustments to their diet. This not only helps them meet their fitness goals faster but also promotes long-term health improvements.
3. Boosting Engagement with Fitness Challenges and Social Sharing
Fitness apps with a fitness tracker app solutions component often include social features that allow users to share their progress with friends, participate in challenges, and compete against others. This social aspect can be highly motivating and foster a sense of community among users. These challenges can be personalized, allowing users to set milestones and share their achievements on social media or within the app community.
Key Features to Include in Your Custom Fitness App

When developing a custom fitness app, the features you include will play a significant role in user engagement and retention. Here are the must-have features for a fitness and wellness app development project:
1. Calorie Counter & Nutrient Tracker
A calorie calculator app or calorie counter helps users keep track of their daily intake, helping them stay on top of their nutrition. By providing users with a complete view of the calories and nutrients in the foods they consume, your app can guide them towards a healthier diet and help them make informed choices. This feature must integrate seamlessly with a user's workout app development features so that their fitness data and food data are combined to give a complete picture of their progress.
2. Workout Tracking & Exercise Logging
Allow users to log their exercises, track progress, and set goals. Features like workout app development should include detailed exercise databases, including instructions and videos for each exercise. A fitness tracker app development solution can provide users with personalized routines, fitness challenges, and progress metrics.
3. Integration with Wearable Devices
To provide a seamless experience for users, integrate your app with wearable devices such as fitness trackers or smartwatches. This will allow users to sync their data in real-time and gain insights into their daily steps, heart rate, sleep patterns, and more. With mobile app development for fitness, this can become an invaluable tool for those serious about tracking their health and fitness.
4. Diet Plans and Recipes
In addition to tracking calories, users may appreciate having access to diet plans and healthy recipes. This feature can help them make better food choices and maintain a balanced diet, in line with their fitness goals. Diet and nutrition app development can also offer meal planning features, grocery shopping lists, and personalized meal suggestions.
5. Progress Analytics & Reporting
Providing users with regular progress reports is key to keeping them motivated. Your fitness app should generate analytics that show improvements in weight, strength, endurance, and more. This data-driven approach will keep users on track and show them the tangible benefits of their hard work. The best calorie tracker app will offer insightful reports that reflect a user’s eating habits and exercise performance.

jjk second years
author's note- i loveee the second years sm and there's not enough hcs about them so i had to add some lol

<3
Yuta
We know how much this man loves his friends, always asking if they've had their lunch or keeping up with their missions. So he's definitely the type to keep emergency snacks or water bottles on hand.
Unintentionally flirty due to his kind nature, but when called out, he turns red and starts rambling, “No, no! I didn’t mean it like that—I mean, not that you’re not—you are, but—ah!” Cue more teasing.
To ease his nerves, he tries different crafts or hobbies like crocheting or building model kits, but he's terrible at most of them. Surprisingly, baking actually worked out(?) and now everyone at the dorm gets cupcakes whenever he stress bakes lol. They're probably ridiculously over-decorated because he overthinks the designs.
I hc that he has insomnia or at least has trouble sleeping. So although it doesn't help much, he has a collection of different tea bags-green, chamomile, ginger, tulsi, lemon, anything you say, he has it.
About the unintentional flirt lol, toge made a joke on a gc once and now panda and maki love teasing Yuta about his "pretty boy" reputation, often telling strangers that Yuta is a famous model or something equally ridiculous.
Maki
Total gym rat. She’ll 'gently' scold the others if they don’t push themselves during workouts, "If you can’t finish this set, how do you expect to survive a curse attack?”
Has a secret stash of sweets she claims are "for energy". Some of Gojo's sweets randomly go missing, but no one suspects her lmao
Shows affection through roasts and training sessions, but she’s fiercely loyal and will stand up for her friends no matter what.
After the incident with her ass father, she might not show it but she'd be a little insecure about the burn marks. Not because of how they look but more so that they showed that he had managed to overpower her. So whenever she has those thoughts i can see her training extra hard, pushing herself on the field till she collapses. Yuta and toge got her some scar cream, there wasnt an explanation but the silent support made her treat herself a little more kindly
She’s surprisingly patient with toge and probably was the one that suggested that they should all try and learn basic sign to surprise him, she'll never admit to it though.
Toge
I mean we all know he's a total troll and a menace online, he definitely speaks in gen alpha slangs. Has spammed the gc with memes at 3 am so they all have it permanently on silent notifs now.
Has quite the... interesting music taste lol, ranging from lo-fi to heavy metal and loads of video game soundtracks. Everybody dreads it when toge gets the aux cord on long rides but they dont point it out. He knows about their suffering but he doesnt care, prolly even gets joy out it lmao.
Doesn't like signing unless he absolutely has to, like if he was talking to a stranger, that too most ppl dont know sign lang so he either texts them or writes it in his notes app. Plus he’s expressive enough to rely on context and vibes most of the time.
They had a sleepover during their 1st year and this shit decided to set the mario cart coin sound as the alarm. for 5 am. on a sunday. highest volume. and proceeded to sleep through it. Yuta and panda had to hold maki back from suffocating him with a pillow.
Panda
If someone’s upset, he’ll offer big bear hugs or sit quietly next to them until they’re ready to talk.
Comes out with random nuggets of wisdom at the strangest times, leaving everyone wondering how a cursed corpse got so philosophical.
Loves hosting movie nights and insists on popcorn fights during action scenes. Would insist on themed snacks for each movie (“Kung Fu Panda”? Dumplings!) lol ofc it's kung fu panda
The peacemaker between the group but also eggs on all off toge's or yuji's dumb ideas, “It’s for their character development.”
A shameless dancer- panda is always the first one to bust a move when music plays. He’s not particularly good, but his enthusiasm is infectious.

Day Zero chapter 3
masterlist | taglist | AO3

pairing: Simon “Ghost” Riley x plus size fem!reader
summary: Meeting another person after 2 years of loneliness was not supposed to be like this.
tags: AFAB reader, plus size reader, dog german shepherd, alcohol, weapon
author's note: I don't know... I'm not satisfied with this chapter. I think I reread it and edited it too many times. From this chapter, what happens after days 730... will be in the present tense because, for example, in the next chapter we will return to day 64, of course it is described in the past tense, so it just seems logical to me. I'm not changing chapters 1 and 2, I hope you don't mind. I think I've been spending too much time on this story and I'm starting to think too much.
Thank you all for your positive feedback. You don't even know how much this means to me <3

Chapter 3: The one when you met
Day 730
Ghost
There are plenty of things in this damn city that he will never run out of. When Ghost was left almost alone, with Riley by his side of course. Already in the first days, the man noticed that there were things here that would stay with him for the rest of his life. Even when he's gone, many of these items will remain in his warehouses for years to come.
Ironically, what he needed the least, alcohol and clothes.
He was never a demanding person. He didn't expect much from life. He was a rather simple man. A roof over his head, a supply of food, a place to train and peace of mind. So when he realized that this city was only his, he was very happy and satisfied. Not that he hated people. It was just better when they were as far away from him as possible. Somewhere in the background, preferably far from his sight and hearing. For many years he felt irritated by the closeness of another person. Of course, there were a few people who managed to get under the lieutenant's shell and understand his moods, behavior and motivations. However, there were few of them. That's right, they were.
In the army, he worked with several people. For many years he had no one outside of work. No family. No other relatives or friends. So when the captain sent him to a well-deserved rest after another long and hard mission. Ghost couldn't find his place for the first few days. He was simply irritated by mundane, everyday things. Going to the bank, store, clinic or even the gym. Too many people. Everywhere. Constant conversations, gesticulations. Noise.
Too much.
So he was grateful for the development of technology. When he could finally sit in front of his computer in the comfort of his own home and get things done in the office or via an app on his phone. The less contact with other people, the better. That's what he thought.
Now that Riley is missing, the soldier wonders about the meaning of his life. If the world had in some way done him a favor by removing other people from his surroundings, why did he have to take away the one being that made him feel alive. That his life has any meaning.
He wasn't a monster. Of course not. It wasn't like he was hoping for some kind of annihilation of humanity, that he would be the sole survivor on earth and be able to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. He just wanted some peace, on his terms.
However, he felt no sadness or regret as he patrolled the empty streets or checked another empty building.
He had lost too many loved ones in the past to grieve over nameless strangers now.
He shouldn't drink. He knows it perfectly well. Two years. 730 days of sobriety. He had promised himself that big day, he had promised Riley, that he would never feel that burning liquid in his throat again. So that he won't become such a madman when alcohol starts circulating in his system again.
So that he does not become his own father. He couldn't even think of this person as someone close to him. Disgusting creature. Reflective sadists. Sperm donor and that's it. Which should never have existed. He buried that monster a long time ago. Just like Ghost buried his own self.
Apart from losing Riley, this was the man's greatest fear in his life. That by drinking alcohol and getting closer to people, he would show them who he really was. That he was just like his twisted psychopathic father.
And he didn't want to be like that, he couldn't. He preferred to hide behind the façade of a domineering, boorish lieutenant in a mask. Pushing others away from himself. The further, the better. He didn't want to hurt anyone.
He preferred to be alone.
He wore a mask almost all the time. He hid his face from the world. He never showed his true self. He hid his identity and the man he was behind a piece of cloth.
Now that it was just him and the dog, he didn't have to cover his face.... And although sometimes in the morning he was looking for a black mask on the nightstand out of habit, he got used to the pleasant feeling of air on the skin of his face. If necessary, he placed a few masks here and there. Just in case someone, somehow showed up in his town.
Now, standing in the pantry with his heart pounding, he unhesitatingly reaches to the back of one of the shelves where he hid the alcohol.
He purposely hid the bottles in the back of the cabinets behind other things so that every time he looks here, he won't notice the colorful bottles at all.
So that nothing would tempt him.
Pulling out a bottle of bourbon, he moved the cans of food and didn't hesitate. He feels that if he does not immediately drown his sadness in a glass of amber drink, he will not be able to bear the pain of another loss. Looking at the label, he smiles to himself. Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 15 years 107 proof*. Searching the homes of these rich people had some benefits. Rich motherfuckers who didn't know what to do with their money bought everything expensive. The more zeros in a line, the better.
When he returns to the office, he doesn't even look at the surveillance system.
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Day 731
Ghost
He lost himself. He drank himself unconscious. It was long after sunrise, it is even after noon.
“Dammit”
Ghost mutters, slowly getting up from the chair he fell asleep in a few hours earlier.
He should have been looking for the dog since dawn. He shouldn't give up. He shouldn't lose hope. However, when he lost sight of the dog, something inside him broke. It reminded him too much of the previous two times he'd lost loved ones. He lost control again. Something thwarted his plan. He lost his stability. Monotony, life according to plan.
Barely walking, tripping over his feet and knocking several things off the dresser, he reaches the bathroom. He doesn't care about anything anymore. Everything is the same to him.
When rinsing her face with water, he does not look at her reflection in the mirror. He can't look into his own eyes. Again, he directs his steps to the pantry. To get another bottle. Ghost has already lost count, another bottle to forget.
It didn't matter. It's just that nothing makes sense anymore.
Wobbling on his feet, he returns to the small room, sits in the chair at the desk and takes a few sips straight from the bottle. Regret - he finally feels it. Another sip. Drown, drown. And he only hopes that alcohol will soothe this feeling, that it will help him fill the void he feels after Riley's disappearance.
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Day 732
Ghost
Another day of drinking. Once he touched his lips and felt a sharp substance with his tongue. And he fell into a trance again. It was hard to break out of it. Constant drinking. Vicious circle. Another bottle and another. Let it burn, sting, hurt. Just to feel something. Physically.
Finally, as if something was calling to him, he struggled to get up from the chair and dragged the body to the kitchen, he decided he had to do something. Anything other than just sitting here. With a lot of thinking, wondering, blaming. He's not a victim, he's not. He has to look for the dog. Keep going. He can't show weakness. Even before himself. He felt a little embarrassed. That he gave up again. Too quick and easy. He looks at the mess he probably left behind the night he drunkenly tried to make himself something to eat.
“I'll deal with it later,” he muttered, heading towards the dressing room. Trying to keep his balance, he stops in the hall, next to the small surveillance room, and freezes.
One screen was active. Detected movement.
"Fuck..." Ghost is angry with himself, pissed off. That he hadn't thought about sitting in front of the screens and looking at the city earlier. But now wasn't the time to blame himself or dwell on the situation. He must finally take action.
Looking at the screen, the soldier can't believe his eyes. He not only sees his beloved dog on the screen. Who slowly walks through one of the streets. In the live footage, he sees a figure walking.
Person.
Alive.
Without thinking, he quickly runs to his room to change and grab his gun. It's definitely an ambush. No one in their right mind would wander in the middle of the street in a strange city in the middle of the day. With a dog by my side.
Bait.
Surely the rest of the group was waiting somewhere outside the city or on the roofs of buildings. He has to do something, he has to get Riley back. Adrenaline stimulates his body, his thoughts flow in one direction. Bring Riley home. Punish those who had the nerve to steal his dog.
He had never driven under the influence of alcohol, but he had no choice. It would take him too long to walk downtown, and he couldn't let the intruders get any closer to his house. Or worse, they'll leave town with his dog.
Besides, the only danger in driving a car in such an environment was himself. And he doesn't care about his own health and life.
Before leaving, he checks the camera again, the figure slowly approaches the City Hall building.
"Easy target" Ghost smiled, plenty of space to capture. He loads his gun and runs out the door as fast as he can, his fingers firmly wrapped around the sniper rifle.
While driving through the city streets, he tries to focus on driving straight, but at the same time he is constantly looking around for a potential threat. It definitely has to be a larger group, Ghost is expecting several people. To his surprise, however, he doesn't notice anything unusual.
Finally he stops and he leaves the car a few blocks from the town hall and starts walking towards it. He hopes he's not late. That the intruder and his dog hadn't moved too far.
There were rather low buildings near the town hall, so a block earlier he turned left and headed to one of the skyscrapers, from where he would have a better view. A better place to attack. However, there is no time to enter it. He freezes in place because he hears Riley barking and then a human voice. A woman's voice.
“Shit…”
He muttered through his teeth. Of course he might have expected a group of travellers to send a woman or a child out to scout. To stir up sympathy only to have someone lose their guard.
He has to play it differently. He looks around the street and decides to enter the restaurant on the corner, remembering that there is a passage inside and he will have a perfect view of the street where the town hall was located. As he walks through the abandoned building, he mentally curses himself for drinking so much. Adrenaline helps him focus and stay upright, but he fears what will happen if he ends up having to aim his gun. When he reaches the storefront overlooking City Hall, he freezes.
Woman pets Riley tenderly and happily says something to him.
Dog seemed to sense his presence because it sits on its hind legs and looks towards the building where the soldier is.
Without thinking, Ghost raises his gun and takes aim.
He must get the dog back and show the strange travelers that they cannot take what is his. That he is in charge.
Fractions of seconds. Ghost pulls the trigger, shoots. The woman falls forward. Without even realizing the threat standing in the dark building in front of her. She falls, but not from the shot. There is not a single drop of blood. No screaming in pain.
It was Riley who pulled her over. He saved her. He protected her from the bullet.
Assessing the situation, Ghost quickly leaves the building and continues to aim his gun at the lying woman.
He didn't expect this development, of all the possible scenarios that went through his head. He did not foresee, despite years spent on the battlefield, reading thousands of training materials.
That the dog would be against him and protect some random stranger.
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Day 732
You
Everything happens so fast that it is impossible to rationally connect the facts: the shot, Riley pulling the leash and the fall. So much, in a split second.
But the only thing that is echoing in your head right now is whether or not Riley is okay.
So you don't notice the massive, tall and masked figure slowly walking towards you... The first thing you should do is check the condition of the dog. Riley. That's all that matters to you. You sit on your lap and look closely at the dog.
“Riley, oh boy, are you okay? Show yourself".
You check the dog, and after making sure that the dog is alright, you find no trace of blood or the slightest injury. Relieved, you slowly get back to your feet. Straightening up, you finally see with horror the figure standing in front of you who wanted to shoot you a moment ago. And now it's starting to dawn on you what just happened. What is really happening and that you are in great danger. You open your mouth and then close it, repeating this action several times, you want to say something. But what can you say at a time like this? No words come out of your throat.
“Stand where you're standing and let go of the leash”
The masked man growls lowly, slowly turning his gaze from you to the dog, slowly stepping closer to the two of you.
“Raise your hands above your head and don't move.”
You shiver with fear, chills running through your body. The sound of a man's low voice, any human voice other than yours after many months. Weird feeling. Irrational.
After a while, you finally recover and slowly raise your hands.
“Let go of damn leash!”
You look at the man with fear. It occurs to you that this must be the same man who left the letter on the tower. Anyone else could be masked and not call themselves Ghost. He was tall, well built. He was dressed in tactical gear, a bulletproof vest and... a mask. This was no ordinary balaclava. A skull was attached to the material. The front part, with a fragment of the upper jaw, eye sockets, and forehead. It must have been a human skull. You involuntarily shiver harder in fear, trying to take a deeper breath. This was not what meeting another human being was supposed to be like. This wasn't what you expected.
Ghost will raise his gun higher, still pointing it at you.
“Riley. Heel.., come here"
He calls to the dog, breaking the terrible, prolonged silence. The confused dog stands up and takes one step towards the soldier. But he doesn't go any further.
“This… this dog is mine”
The words finally fall out of you, you muster up your courage and whisper, keeping your eyes on the man
“Don't take him away from me. Not again.”
“Your dog? I think you've got something wrong"
Ghost growled, clearly annoyed. His arm muscles visibly tense, this entire exchange makes no sense to him. Waste of time.
"Y-yes, he's mine..."
You start to say, trying to control the emotions you're feeling. You slowly lower your hands.
“I can prove it. Just let me”
Regardless of the fact that the gun is constantly pointed at you, you have to prove it to him and keep the dog with you. No matter what, at any cost. You want to reach into your backpack and take out that old worn-out photo that you still carry with you to this day. One of the few souvenirs you have kept from your past life.
“Hands up, damn it, I'm not playing any games. Give the dog back and leave town."
Ghost shouts, you can see that he is becoming more and more irritated by your behavior.
“You can take everything you find and leave my city. Riley stays where he belongs - with me."
You shake your head negatively, swallowing the lump in your throat, trying not to cry
“No, the dog is mine.”
“Oh, damn it, I don't have all day for unnecessary discussions. Tell your people not to come back here again. Or at least have the courage to show up in person and not send a woman. Pathetic".
As he says this, he finally lowers the gun and pats his thigh, trying to get the dog's attention.
“Riley! Heel!”
Thinking little, or probably not thinking at all, you reached into your backpack and opened the zipper, looking for a photo.
“Dammit, kid, you don't understand what I'm telling you. Leave the dog and fuck off."
You don't care anymore, if you were to leave this city without your dog, you'd rather die here. Now, at this moment.
You take out the photo, which you have carefully secured to prevent any further damage. You raise your hand, holding the photo, and try to stop it from shaking. Despite your emotions, you calmly say to masked man
"Look, this is my dog. Mine. Look, Riley's missing a piece of his ear. You see? Dog in this photo doesn't have it either…”
The man hesitates for a moment, but decides to approach and take a closer look at the photo in your hand.
“That doesn't prove anything,” Ghost starts to say, but you interrupt him
"What do you mean? How many dogs of this breed have such a wound? How many have a black collar with an engraving on the back, with the exact name and phone number?"
As you say this, you state what is written on his collar
“You could take this off him and read it.”
"How do I know there's something written inside?"
There was silence. Another long, tiring one. You looked at each other without saying a word.
The man was taller than you and towered over you, his broad frame creating a shadow above you, his dark eyes narrowing as he looked at you. As if he was trying to read what was going on in your head.
You feel a little dizzy. The whole situation was so strange, so surreal. This wasn't what my first conversation with another human being in two years was supposed to look like. This wasn't how the first meeting was supposed to go. At least it wasn't what you imagined.
There's something wrong with the man across from you. Weird, dark, terrifying. His attitude irritates you and something inside you finally breaks. You explode.
“Ghost, listen…”
You started, raising your voice slightly
“I don't know what your intentions are, why you're so defensive about this town and this dog. But I came here alone! ALONE! I haven't seen a living person in two fucking years. I don't understand what kind of travelers you're talking about and why you don't want to admit that this dog is mine. But... but I don't want to leave, not after finding Riley."
When you say this, you look at the dog that sat between you and the soldier. Riley lay down, as if he was also tired of all the strange interaction between two people he knew, through which he was confused.
Ghost remains silent, never taking his eyes off you, as if wondering what to do. Pros and cons.
Finally, the sound of the watch interrupts his persistent gaze, and the man sighs loudly, as if resigned, and says
“Let's just say… I believe you. Temporarily”
The man secures the gun and hangs it on his shoulder. Seeing this, an involuntary smile appears on your face.
“Come on, kid, it's late. We have to go”
Ghost points to the sun, which is slowly starting to hide behind the buildings
"We'll finish this conversation somewhere else. Come on, both of you."
He waves his hand and points in the direction to go.
“Go ahead, I'll watch your back.”
The walk to the car doesn't take long, and you're glad that you won't have to walk another distance on your still scarred and aching legs.
"No way!"
You scream in shock when you see a large, dark pickup truck parked in the cul-de-sac.
“You have a working car! I couldn't find..."
Standing at the passenger door, a man interrupts you, stands next to the trunk and you open the hatch
“Riley, get in. You sit in the back too”
He points to the trunk of the pickup truck
"What? Are you kidding me?"
This man was behaving absurdly. You guess that years of loneliness made him unable to behave socially. He forgot what it was like to interact with another living person.
“Just. Get. In. And don't whine unless you want to walk to the tower. You know the way.”
The man looked at you without blinking.
“To the tower? Why are we going to the tower?”
You say in disbelief, letting go of another exchange of words, slowly climbing into the trunk and sitting down next to the dog. Ghost closes the trunk, making sure the dog is safe, and gets behind the wheel.
“We need to visit your companions. Since they're not in town, they're probably waiting for you there. You know my name, so you must have read the letter.”
As the car starts moving, you start to wonder if you did the right thing by getting into the trunk. Letting a stranger take you away, God knows where. There was something wrong with this man. He thought Riley was his and that you weren't coming to town on your own. Maybe he too, like you, has been living alone all these months. And he clearly couldn't cope with it. You hug the dog, just hoping that when you reach the tower, the man will finally believe you and let you stay.
Nevertheless, you did not want to be left on your own again. Only now did you feel how much you missed another living person. How much you needed to feel someone's presence. To know that you were not meant to live in isolation. You felt that the burden that had stuck with you through those many sleepless, weeping nights had finally fallen from your shoulders.
Maybe it was destiny. This was your fate.
So, you accept it already.
Even if from now on, you will have to live with this strange, mysterious man in a mask.

i can feel so scattered everywhere emotionally and mentally, or feel none of the scatter and just feel empty, void, blank inside.
admittedly i have many skills mentally and emotionally that i utilize and have worked hard to develop and get good results with. i can't afford therapy and to top everything off i still haven't gotten a job out here and i've been applying for almost a year now, still nothing. a few applications a month and nothing still. i would do more if i had money tbch.
it's weighing on me to not be able to contribute more with grocery shopping, necessities, even mutual aid and tips. i can't contribute and help the way i always would with more money and an income. it's weighing hard.
but things are a lot different than when i last got hired and the job market is awful and for me personally i've never even been someone employers were proud of or happy with despite doing the same if not more work than my peers at a more than passable rate and quality.
it's hard. it's always been like that for me, to see patterns in adulthood from people that don't know me at all that match the patterns that occurred in my childhood from people who did see me at a recurring rate (like public school) is frustrating already, and the fact that i'm trans on top of it all and that always, always sticks out to people, AND on top of that i'm neurodivergent and i've read plenty about others, too, who get discriminated against and given workplace threats to their employment because of how they were standing or an resting expression on their face or how they worded something, despite the quality of their work and efforts equating to that of their peers. i'm so, so, so sick of it.
hate that so much of my work experience has been riddled with discrimination to the point that i just get forced out, because that's what the manager or management wants. they obviously want to get rid of me.
going forward here, it's really hard. i'm overqualified for most of the barista jobs (with the exception of a "shift lead" position i tried bc i rly wanted it) i've applied for and nearly all expect 1-2 years experience to even be considered when i have ~4. being a barista and working with the public and making teas and coffees can be nice. you get to make something yummy for someone, hopefully it's exactly what they wanted at the start of their day or maybe after work or on a day off, and you get to contribute and add something nice to their day. that's nice enough.
but can i please, please just get in? every coffee shop i visit around here has queer people employed, i see them and their name tags, and their outfits and hairstyles and piercings. there they are and here i am. i apply to the same places when they have open positions and nothing ever happens. it's been countless apps at this point. i've added a cover letter to literally every single application i've submitted. all of them.
i just need something to come through.
i can't move more within my life or do more or afford anything like this. just the absolute bare minimum as it stands. i can't plan bigger engagements or serious moves (like attending wrestling school or a gym) bc i don't have an income.
i just need someone to give me a chance, with a job that does any semblance of good for the world or community and isn't a chain, that's all. my work experience with corporations is also completely riddled with discrimination.
a barista at a local cafe, some type of social work assistant somehow, someone employed working with animals or nature (doesn't have to be a vet tech job, even a shelter would be good), or something similar. anything like that, please.

BREAKING NEWS: Revolutionary AI Scheduling Model Disrupts Multi-Billion Dollar Industries
IndustriesMay 14, 2025 – In a groundbreaking development set to redefine time management across education, fitness, and the arts, researchers from the Zurich Institute of Technology (ZIT) have unveiled an artificial intelligence model capable of autonomously optimizing human schedules with an accuracy rate exceeding 98.7%.Dubbed "ChronoPilot," the new system leverages deep contextual learning to interpret not only user preferences but also emotional states, productivity trends, and even regional weather forecasts to dynamically tailor personal and group schedules. In early trials, the system outperformed existing scheduling platforms by over 400% in efficiency and conflict resolution. The implications span vast sectors. Educational institutions using class scheduling software like Lunacal’s platform for class bookings have already reported dramatic improvements in attendance and engagement. In the fitness industry, where applications such as gym booking software are crucial, ChronoPilot’s integration led to a 37% rise in client retention during a 90-day pilot. Music academies leveraging music lesson scheduling tools observed a 52% reduction in missed appointments.ZIT’s Secret Weapon: Sentient Sync ProtocolWhat truly sets ChronoPilot apart is its proprietary Sentient Sync Protocol (SSP) — a neural time-mapping engine that mimics human anticipation. SSP doesn’t just block out time; it predicts the best time for each task based on thousands of variables, including circadian rhythms, cognitive load history, and even micro-fluctuations in vocal tone during user interactions.Dr. Lena Marwick, lead AI architect at ZIT, explained, “We’re no longer asking users to fit into rigid schedules. ChronoPilot adapts to them, moment by moment.”Global Trials, Unprecedented ResultsThe AI was tested across 1.2 million scheduling interactions in 11 countries, across five major time zones. In one compelling instance, a public school in Osaka integrated ChronoPilot into its digital classroom system. Within three weeks, student punctuality improved by 48%, and feedback indicated a 63% increase in perceived classroom coherence.Meanwhile, a UK-based national gym chain used ChronoPilot to coordinate personal training sessions across 87 locations. Instructors reported a 41% decrease in downtime, and an average boost of 18% in customer satisfaction scores.ChronoPilot vs. The Old GuardWhile current scheduling tools rely heavily on manual input or rigid templates, ChronoPilot learns from passive inputs — browsing behavior, sleep app data, voice command history — with the user’s consent. This passive data synergy allows it to preemptively adjust schedules without user intervention.Analysts say the AI’s capabilities pose an existential threat to legacy scheduling systems and even to calendar giants like Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook. “It’s not just a calendar anymore,” says Gideon Lark, senior analyst at MetaMetrics. “It’s a lifestyle orchestrator.”Privacy Concerns and Ethical DebateNot everyone is celebrating. Digital rights watchdogs have raised concerns about the volume and sensitivity of data ChronoPilot processes. The AI can access everything from location logs to biometric signals. While ZIT asserts the system uses end-to-end encryption and offers opt-out data controls, some critics remain wary."We’re trading convenience for surveillance,” warns Aria Salim, director of the Tech Privacy Initiative. “There must be enforceable limits on how such AI models evolve, especially as they begin to predict and possibly influence human behavior.”ZIT has responded by publishing a white paper detailing its privacy protocols and inviting third-party audits. Still, the debate over AI autonomy and human agency continues to intensify.

uppercut - eight
summary: Maisy and Pedro deal with the aftermath of their kiss
parings: boxer/singledad!pedro x nanny!fem oc
warnings: twelve-year age gap, yearning, internal conflicts
wc: 1.6k
series masterlist here

Pedro
“Is there a particular reason your’re here this early?” Rick asks.
I hadn’t even noticed he’d come in. All I keep thinking about is how bad I fucked up by kissing Maisy last night.
We managed to avoid each other this morning, which probably had a lot to do with my leaving at six in the morning. Not a chance in hell I was going to try for small talk. I worked out for three hours at the gym, sweating and pushing myself to the limit.
“Couldn’t sleep,” I shrug and turn my focus back to the sandbag.
At home the same day, Maisy tries for small talk.
“How was training?” She asks in a small voice, trying to gauge the mood between us.
She isn’t the only one who can’t tell where we stand now. I don’t want to ruin our developing friendship because I can’t control myself.
She’s drying her hands on a dish towel, averting her eyes as she stands in my kitchen, all pretty in a tank top and denim shorts that display her thick thighs.
She doesn’t grant me eye contact and that alone cracks my heart into two.
She is hurt.
And so am I.
My session went disastrously. And it's all because I couldn't stop thinking of what might have happened if I knocked on her bedroom door last night instead of wallowing in self-pity.
I’m sure in hindsight I’ll think I did the right thing by not barging in on her and crushing my lips down hers. I did the responsible thing and went back to my own bedroom, back to my own shower and I took care of myself.
“It was fine,” I lie.
Maisy
Pedro and I pass the next week without so much as any meaningful interaction. We avoid one another like the other has a contagious disease. We’re back in the territory of polite nods, separate dinners, and conversation only concerning Oliver.
Neither of us broaches the kiss, and it’s like he hasn’t even had a single thought about it since.
I, on the contrary, replay it religiously in my mind before falling asleep. Even the mere sight of his perfectly plush and pink lips plunges me back wholesale into the memory of our kiss.
I am completely smitten by him and we’ve only shared a kiss. It’s actually pathetic.
“Maisy, can you hurry up a bit? I’m running late,” he calls upstairs.
“Be there in a second,” I shout, rubbing sleep from my eyes.
I overslept. Groggily rising from bed, I slip on a sweater and stagger sleepily down the stairs. I straighten the sweater and pull my hair from the neckline, letting it drape my shoulders.
Pedro is on his way out the door when I get downstairs, aggressively chewing a piece of gum, and his keys, phone, and water bottle are all clutched in one—very pornographic—hand.
“Sorry, I slept through my alarm,” I say.
Oliver is sitting on his diapered bum by his dad's feet, gnawing on his knuckle.
“It’s fine. But I really gotta go.”
“Yeah, yeah, sure. I have it from here.” I hoist the little boy up as he reaches for me, and place him on my hip. “Hey, Buddy,” I coo, tickling his side. He shrieks in delight. A smile warms my face.
Pedro stands there in the foyer, unmoving, watching our interactions.
“You said you were running late,” I point out, flustered under his diligent eyes.
He nods slowly, blinking. “I am. I’ll go now.” And he does, leaving me with a toddler to entertain and my head overflowing with the idea of having him.
Pedro
I lie in my bed, checking my calendar, filling in as I go with match dates, fundraising events I plan on supporting and Oliver’s pediatric check-ups that monitor his development.
As I tinker with my phone’s calendar app, I realize today marks one week since Maisy’s and I’s kiss.
The reminder catapults me head-straight into the memory of her sweet lips coupled between mine.
Her kissing technique betrayed her inexperience. She was putty in my arms, leaving all the work to me—which I wasn’t opposed to, I found it endearing actually.
Despite our kiss being hardly more than a sloppy upper lip peck with a testing lick on my part, it was a divine sensation.
A soft knock on my door pulls me from my jumbled mind. I answer it to find Maisy standing at my door.
“Can you, uhm, come to my room?” she asks, her eyes flitting around me.
“You’re not going to seduce me if that’s your goal here,” I huff, trying to lighten the tension-heavy mood.
“Stop it. There’s a spider. I need you to kill it.” She bounces nervously. “Please? Before it disappears and I have to turn the room upside down.”
I shake my head at her before pulling a few tissues from the box on my nightstand. “Show me to it,” I mumble.
When we get to her room, she stops like there’s an invisible force field, and I almost bump into her back. “Well, where is it?”
She points to the wall on the other side of her bed. It’s a decent-sized spider, I can see why she was distressed.
I haven’t gotten the chance to take in the room she’s moved into almost five weeks ago when I was here last time. I was too busy doting on her to notice how lived-in she’s made the once bland guest bedroom.
She bought some throw pillows and draped a soft-looking blanket over the footboard of the bed. String lights decorate her windowsill. A stack of books with cheesy titles towers on her nightstand. And as I delve deeper into her space, my senses are overwhelmed with the smell of hers in the best possible way. Gardenia and almond.
The brown spider scurries a few inches, making Maisy shriek and bury her face in my chest. I’ve never liked spiders more in my life.
“I’ve got it, sweetheart,” I assure her as I put my hands on her shoulders and delicately move her out of my way. I press the tissues to the wall firmly, ending the siege. “There,” I say and walk the dead spider to the guest bathroom and flush the tissues.
She looks around me to the toilet to make sure it actually went down. A shiver racks her body and squeaks a “Thank you.”
I nod and we both just stand there. Neither one of us makes a move to go, even though it’s late.
“Were you getting ready for bed?”
Even if I shouldn’t I like the glint in her eyes as she peers up at me through her lashes. I have no intention of ending this night if she doesn’t want to, no matter how tired I am. And besides, there’s nothing wrong with being friends. “No.”
“Do you wanna watch a movie with me?”
I try to suppress the giddy smile that’s tugging on the corners of my lips with little success.
Five minutes later and we’ve parked ourselves in front of the TV. She picks out a sappy enemies-to-lovers romcom. I hold back any preconceptions I have about the genre and just watch.
As she strictly keeps her eyes on the screen, I stare down at her hands, noting the contrast of her milky skin against my own. The size difference is comical—her hand could easily fit in the palm of my hand.
I ache to intertwine our fingers.
With great force, a peculiar feeling rises up in me. I try to squish it down but it nestles into my bowels.
I’m truly fucked if the imagery of our interlaced hands sends me spiralling.
Casting away my unholy thoughts, I return my focus to the movie.
As the week progresses, it’s easier to be normal. My pining remains intense but we settle into a casual camaraderie that I greatly appreciate. We’re friendly towards one another and can banter with each other.
I stifle any inappropriate urge and behave myself.
We restore our movie night tradition. We’re making our way through romcoms Glen Powell has starred in and my list of cultic action movies.
Most nights, when we have the time and mental energy, I cook Chilean food while she pretends to be my sus chef.
Every time she looks at me, it’s like the sun peeking out from behind a cloud, and I do my best to feel content, to be just another person at the edge of her glow.
The more time goes on living in close quarters, the clearer I see Maisy for who she is. She’s a hopeful romantic creature with a tendency towards solitude.
Apart from her college roommate, whom I occasionally catch her texting with, she doesn’t seek social interactions. If we don’t count her horrible date with Tinder Nathan, she hasn’t once gone out since she’s been taking care of Oliver.
In her off time, she chooses activities that are done on your lonesome—browsing bookstores, people-watching on sunny cafe terraces, or contemplating the meaning of life on my couch.
One stormy afternoon she tells me love can be found in commonplace—in how mugs hold tea, in how the flooring receives the landing of our feet. As she shares her musings, I get the urge to praise her, to stroke the back of her head and tell her how special and bright and wonderful her brain is. During our conversation, I feel my liking for her expanding.

I'm not part of a system and do not dissociate to a high degree. however, throughout my life ive had memory loss due to adhd and for various reasons and have created 'personas' for myself to pretend to be in various social situations (eg, being so anxious in gym class i would force myself to become a character i made because she loved gym and i could keep myself from panicking). also, due to my ocd i do end up trying to 'dissociate' somewhat from a stressful situation in order to not freak out over my ocd triggers. is it ok for me to use system resources (eg simplyplural) to help me manage this, despite not being a system? ive found simplyplural helpful for setting reminders and having a place for my personas to 'talk' when i need to make a big decision that normally id be too paralysed to make, but i dont know if its appropriate considering im not a system
Hey anon! I did not know the answer to whether the developers would be ok with it, so I actually ended up going to the support server (which I was already in!) and asked a vague question about if they were ok with non-systems using the app.
I got a resounding "yes, it's ok"!! The main developers themselves ended up saying that you can use it for absolutely any reason you want :3
So, there you go! Absolutely no worries about anything; you're not appropriating system resources like some people might claim, none of that bullshit. You're good! Truly, the system community (at its best, at least) is the most "you can do whatever want forever" place I know on the internet. :)
I hope this helps!! /gen

New Projects In New Gurgaon | Paras Buildtech

Searching for your dream home? Gurgaon is the ideal destination for professionals, families, and investors alike. With thriving career opportunities, luxurious living options, top-notch amenities, and excellent investment potential, this vibrant city truly has it all. Discover why Gurgaon stands out as the perfect place to call home.
A city where careers flourish
There is no doubt that Gurgaon is a career hotspot. It is home to a host of Fortune 500 companies, IT giants, and startups. If you are someone who wants to be at the center of action, then pick a house in this city. Plus, with its close proximity to Delhi and being part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, opportunities just keep growing. Imagine cutting your commute time and spending more of your day at home or doing what you love.
Unbeatable connectivity
Getting around in Gurgaon is super convenient. The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, the Rapid Metro, and the Dwarka Expressway keep you well-connected. Let’s not forget how close the Indira Gandhi International Airport is! Whether you are flying for business or a holiday, it is just a quick drive away. Paras Dews, in sector 106, by Paras Buildtech seamlessly connects Gurgaon with Palam Vihar.
Tech-driven and smart living
Gurgaon is not just about luxury – it is about smart living. Many residential areas are adopting tech-driven solutions like home automation, 24/7 security surveillance, and app-based community management. These features ensure you are living not just comfortably but also with peace of mind.
New projects in new Gurgaon that redefine luxury
Gurgaon is all about variety and luxury. From sleek high-rise apartments with breathtaking views to spacious villas that scream elegance, new residential projects in Gurgaon are coming up fast. Paras Buildtech is truly outdoing itself with projects such as The Manor located in Gwal Pahari. The residential towers come with luxury amenities like all-weather pools, fully-equipped gyms, and are surrounded by lush gardens that feel just like a resort getaway. And here’s a quick fact: in over 20 years, Paras Buildtech has delivered more than 6,500 homes! That’s quite an impressive track record.
Modern life meets nature
Gurgaon might be a modern city, but it hasn’t let go of its green side. Take The Manor, for instance – a standout residential project that is framed by the stunning Aravalli Valley. With limited space in Gwal Pahari, Paras Buildtech is one of the few developers building in this exclusive and tranquil area. And they are making it count! The Manor is IGBC Platinum-certified project, setting the standard for eco-conscious living. Sustainability is woven into every detail. About 40% of the landscape is dedicated to native and adaptive plants, conserving water while keeping the environment lush and vibrant. The other eco-friendly features include electric charging stations, thoughtfully designed interiors with large windows that flood the space with natural light and promote ventilation, and more. The Manor isn’t just a home; it is a lifestyle that combines luxury, sustainability, and the beauty of nature.
Perfect for families
If you have children or are planning to start a family, Gurgaon ticks all the boxes. New projects in new Gurgaon are including toddler zones, recreational centres, restaurants and lounges to ensure the entire family is well looked after and all their needs are met with.
A wise investment
Here’s another big reason: Gurgaon is a fantastic investment opportunity. Property values have been climbing steadily, and areas like Gawal Pahari and Golf Course Extension are booming. Whether you want to live here or rent out your property, the returns look promising. So, why wait? If you are ready to turn your dream of owning a home into reality, checking out new residential projects in Gurgaon should be on the top of your list!

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 8
Hello hello, and welcome to 2024 everyone! The world is strange and still chaotic, but one of the many constants in this life (or, I should say, my life) is Pokémon! And if you’re here for this next installment, then chances are it’s at least some sort of constant in your life too! But after the excitement of the last chapter, it’s time to wind down at least a little bit and move on to some new plot developments!
In addition, it has been brought to my attention that my game might be at least somewhat…bugged. You might have noticed that, in the few screenshots featuring the Pokémon’s moves, some of them have missing type icons. This hasn’t been that big of a deal, I mean knowing the typings of moves is more or less second nature to me. But I was also informed that- well, remember how I talked about the layout of the Field Notes app and how I thought it was confusing? Turns out, it’s not supposed to look like that- there’s supposed to be more text, but on my game some of it is just…missing, I guess.
This also isn’t that debilitating, and as far as I can tell it’s only some of the move type icons and the Field Notes text that are glitched, doesn’t seem like the UI is messed up anywhere else. So, I’m gonna keep trucking along even with those bugs, I can handle it; if it gets worse, like really worse, then I’ll consider more drastic measures to see if it can be fixed. Maybe this can be like a form of challenge playthrough. Nuzlockes? Monotypes? Forget all of that, bugged UI run is where it’s at!
But before we see the new stuff, how about we go over those other developments, hm?
In preparation to take on Julia’s Gym, we went out to catch some leftover event Pokémon, starting with Bloom the Budew thanks to the Rose Incense.
We catch Twig the Bidoof in order to evolve it into Bibarel for a trade with the one Street Rat, but are interrupted when we walk by Dr. Pharmacist again, now with a much shorter line to contend with.
A thug steals Dr. Pharmacist’s remaining painkillers, and since he cannot leave his last patient unattended, he asks Xera to go chase him down.
While searching for the thief, Xera runs into a pair of Team Meteor Grunts plotting to “liberate” someone’s Pokémon (something to be dealt with later).
Xera manages to find the thief and defeats him in a battle, forcing him to return the stolen goods. Dr. Pharmacist commends Xera for her work and fortitude, finally introducing himself as Corey.
Twig is evolved into a Bibarel, which we trade with the guy to obtain Shimmer the Munna.
Xera also catches Crescent the Teddiursa- the same Teddiursa that had been fleeing from her since she first arrived in Peridot Ward.
In a house to the north, Xera defeats the two Meteor Grunts from earlier, who were attempting to steal a woman’s Igglybuff. Concerned over whether the Grunts would return, the woman gives Igglybuff to Xera so she can protect it, and thus we obtain Kirby the Igglybuff.
Behind the Electric Gym, we find a present that an old man had misplaced. As thanks, he ensures that Xera will be “showered in presents” in return, and he gives her Claus the Delibird.
After giving a bit more money to one guy, Xera is able to access a house in an alley, where she finds an abandoned Minccino; we catch it and name her Trim.
That night, Xera goes into an apartment building having a power outage due to a Pokémon sucking up the electricity. This Pokémon is none other than a Grubbin, which we catch and name Prong.
With the party all filled out and trained (including Bloom evolving into Roselia, respectively), Xera steps into the Electric Gym for the first time. She defeats the Trainers within and solves the puzzle (read: she blows up a bunch of gates with Voltorbs), gaining access to Julia’s room.
Before challenging Julia, we head back north to pay the Magikarp thief those 500 Pokémon Dollars for the Pokémon’s return. Predictably, he does not uphold his end of the bargain, revealing he and the salesman were actually in cahoots to scam Trainers.
Xera defeats the two in a battle, but it’s revealed the thief can’t give back the Magikarp- because it was stolen from him for real, by a pickpocket who fled to Obsidia Ward. Something else to be solved later.
With some final training (including Riptide evolving into Croconaw), we return to the Gym to actually challenge the Gym Leader.
Julia engages Xera in her first Gym Battle in Reborn. After a lengthy and tense battle charged by Electric Terrain, Xera emerges victorious and earns the first Badge of the Reborn League: the Volt Badge.
Outside, Xera encounters Victoria. After congratulating Xera on her win, Victoria mentions the situation in Obsidia Ward regarding the plants apparently growing out of control. She wishes to go there and help, and suggests Xera do the same.
So that’s what we’re gonna be up to now! All signs point towards Obsidia Ward being the next destination, and I for one am excited. Finally, we’ll get to see some new sights and characters after spending so long in Peridot Ward! Will this go well? Will it go wrong? What kinds of new Pokémon will we encounter, wild encounters or static/event ones? And most important of all…will we be able to spend even more time with Victoria? We’ll have to see!

Why Canada’s Co‑Living Space Trend Is More Than Just a Fad
Urban Affordability Meets Community
Major Canadian cities like Toronto and Vancouver are experiencing relentless rent hikes and shrinking vacancy rates. Co‑living has emerged as a welcome antidote—offering private bedrooms paired with shared kitchens, lounges, and workspaces. These setups are usually fully furnished, cover utilities, and offer short‑term flexibility, making them ideal for modern renters.
Millennials: The Driving Force
Group rentals aren't just transitional anymore. Millennials, now Canada’s largest demographic, are embracing co‑living as a long‑term lifestyle. With delayed homeownership and evolving relationship timelines, flexibility, affordability, and built‑in community trump traditional housing setups.
Immigrants and Newcomers
New Canadians face hurdles like limited credit history, job uncertainty, and cultural adjustment. Co‑living makes this transition easier. Fully‑equipped rooms, community events, and simplified leasing mean less stress and faster integration.
Multigenerational Living and Cultural Continuity
For many ethnic communities, co‑habitation is tradition. Families living together across generations are reconfiguring into hybrid co‑living models that combine cultural closeness with modern design.
Seniors Eye Co‑Living, Too
Retirees are downsizing without isolating. Co‑living provides an elegant solution—offering safety, companionship, and affordability. The shared setting promotes active lifestyles and combats loneliness.
Purpose‑Built vs. Converted Homes
Some operators retrofit large single‑family homes for rental density, while others build modern developments from the ground up. These buildings come equipped with modular suites, gym areas, coworking spots, and even rooftop gardens.
Robust Investor Interest
Institutional investors and real estate developers are backing co‑living as a scalable solution in urban centres. High occupancy and room‑level leases yield stronger returns compared to traditional single‑unit rentals.
Design Innovation
These aren’t just bunk beds and beanbags. Co‑living spaces boast multifunctional furniture, Scandinavian aesthetics, smart storage, and seamless transitions between private and public areas.
Regulatory Landscape
Municipalities like Vancouver and Toronto are slowly adapting zoning rules to embrace co‑living legally and safely. Standards now exist around fire codes, privacy buffers, and maximum occupancy.
Community as Core Offering
Beyond rent, residents gain access to built‑in social experiences: yoga nights, communal dinners, professional meetups. It’s lifestyle wrapped in convenience.
Sustainability Advantages
Co‑living conserves space, energy, and materials. One kitchen instead of five. One utility bill instead of several. Lower carbon footprints are a natural outcome.
Operational Efficiency
From smart locks to centralized cleaning, tech streamlines operations. Residents enjoy included Wi‑Fi, regular housekeeping, and mobile apps for service requests and rent payments.
Pitfalls and Privacy Concerns
While vibrant, co‑living isn't for everyone. Lack of personal space, noise levels, and clashing personalities can spark friction. Clear communication and structured policies are key.
Resident Conflict and Agreement Guidelines
Noise curfews, guest policies, shared responsibilities—all need defining. Formal house rules and community managers often help mitigate issues before they snowball.
Scalability vs. Community
Smaller buildings offer intimacy; larger ones promise amenities. Developers must balance profitability with community dynamics to avoid becoming glorified dorms.
Tech Integration
Keyless entry, app‑based management, and automated billing systems have turned co‑living into a tech‑forward rental solution, attracting digital natives and remote workers alike.
Regional Hotspots Across Canada
Toronto’s Liberty Village, Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant, and Ottawa’s Centretown are evolving into co‑living hotspots. These areas appeal to students, digital nomads, and first‑time workers.
Building Investor Confidence
Rent from five individuals is more stable than one leaseholder. Co‑living units attract diversified tenants, making revenue streams more resilient.
Emotional Wellbeing and Health
Living alone in a big city can feel empty. Co‑living fights isolation with intentional interaction. Studies link shared living to improved mental health and reduced anxiety.
Future Trends to Watch
Expect growth in wellness-focused co‑living—think meditation rooms, hydroponic gardens, and creativity pods. Hybrid models for families and professionals will rise, too.
Check this detailed article for those interested in jumping into this space from the real estate side.
Why the Momentum Will Continue
Housing costs are sky‑high. Mobility is increasing. Connection is scarce. Co‑living hits all three birds with one beautifully optimized stone. It’s not just a workaround. It’s a lifestyle shift.
Final Reflections
More than a buzzword, co‑living represents a fundamental reimagining of urban life. In a world that craves connection, economy, and convenience, co‑living is rising—not just vertically in condos, but in cultural relevance, too.
