I know Mizisua is like the main doomed yuri thing here, but like can I talk about MIzihyuna because like I feel normal about them, so much.

Just Mizi, and her loving her saviors. That we have Sua who was in the dark and Mizi had showed kindness to, shining a light for them. But return they were someone human that understood them and stayed by her side enduring and reciprocating of her affection. That in the end saved Mizi by sacrificing her own life, whether fully planned or not so that she may advance the round and live on.

Then there is Hyuna who saved Mizi from the stage where she was supposed to die. That despite the tragedy and the loss of her world, she is given another one by the grace that is the rebellion and shown something that could be hope. That perhaps it isn't the same kind that she once had before, but it is another chance from Hyuna that guides her to loving life again.

And another point in that Mizihyuna is its own flavor of tragedy because oough I can't see this ending well.

That Mizi still grieves Sua and even if she was with Hyuna, she likely hasn't moved on from her old universe, after all how could she when it had defined her for so long. How could she ever do so without it hurting and perhaps making it feel like a betrayal to the person that died so she could life. Moving on from the one she devoted herself to for so long in loving. That despite everything that Hyuna has become to her and might ever be, it will never replace the empty half that was taken from her. And that even Hyuna might not be long either when there is a darkness in them, something seeking the destruction of not only a system greater than either than them but Hyuna's old shadow of her past. Because the narrative has its pattern and the world it is rooted in is one that is uncaring for any kind of love between those trying to survive and live again.

And I don't see it ending well. That in some way, when we finally see Hyuna and Lukas get their own little number together, it won't end well for whoever is going to be involved. And all I can think about is the fact that the hope in Mizi's life is going to be taken from her again and I fucking can't do this T-T

TL:DR Codependent Doomed Toxic Yuri. Long version: They are extremely codependent childhood friends who literally lived together since they were preteens because they are both orphans. Both would rather kill themselves then live in a world where they aren't by each other's side. (Spoilers) In Higurashi Gou/Sotsu, they attend a prestigious catholic all-girld school together and become more distant towards each other. Timeloop shannigans occur where Satoko keeps trying to convince Rika to not go to said school- but every loop ends with Rika still wanting to go and Satoko killing herself to reset the loop. All of this eventually makes Satoko (who has horrible abandonment issues) trap Rika in timeloop so they can relive their childhood forever even if gruesome murders occur in every loop. There's even a gut pulling scene- they are literally the ship of all time.

1) Oumota: it was literally made in a factory for me, they have everything i want in a ship

Rivals to lovers, narrative foils, an extremely doomed dinamic that could be different if they weren't in such a dire situation, height and size difference and above everything they have such an immense chemistry, muah perfect

2)Saimaki, i started shipping them as a joke but i started to love them so much! I love the kind of bond they must have after losing Kaito and surving the killing game, very codependent i think

But besides that, i wish they played their talents more in canon, because i find the detective x assasin concept to have so much potential (especially considering both of them arent the biggest fans of their talents iirc lol) theres an au i have which plays on that.

3) Kaemugi, doomed toxic Yuri, I love to play on the idea for Kaede having a sorta crush on Tsumugi just for her to turn around and betray her THAT badly, framing her for Rantaro's death

I love the forgiveness but even the necessary resentment (in vr!au), i also love to explore both of them being guilty for what happened to Rantaro (Kaede still planned it) and feels like you could do something very interesting with them in protag!Kaede au!

4)Kiirumi; not my favorite by any means, I find their canon interactions cute

And i like to think about pregame!Kiibo knowing Pregame!Miu and pontentially be her only friend (this is self indulgent, ik) plus inventor x robot slaps.

5)Komaegi, obligatory i haven't finished sdr2 nor watched dr3 so this is mostly self indulgent fun and idk why this dinamic compels me so much

I love how Nagito is designed to be a deconstruction of how out beloved protagonist, i love how they technically started the same (lucky students) but took such different paths, i think you can do a lot with them! Especially considering Nagito obsession with hope...

6) Naegamigiri, favorite poly ship ever, i think they all have such chemistry with each other is insane (yes, even togami/kirigiri but i ship them in a queerplatonic way) they are the married throuple¿ ever and im just so attached to them

7)chimondo, oh boy lots to say about this one but honestly theres a lot of very specific headcanons that i'm kinda afraid to delve into, so i all i will say is that they are cute and it personally breaks my heart how they were (seemingly) friends before the killing game 🫡 i usually ship them together with Taka but i admit I got lazy finding the ship name.

8)komahinanami, differently from the other antag/protag/support ship, this is more that ship both Hinanami and Komahina and I dont want to pick and choose, i love komanami explicitly only as friends

And especially in my au (which is my vr!au but im trying to also fit all the lore from the other games together, its a lot but i hope one day i find the confidence to talk about it), thinking about those three interacting together with all that happened just </3 makes me both happy and extremely sad, gotta finish the game and watch the anime so im sure its gonna hurt a lot

9) Sakuraoi, this is one of these ships that stuck with me a lot, I find them genuinely one of the best written relationships of Thh and chapter 4 as a whole is never gonna not gonna make me tear up

I also, love personally to have a character like Aoi which is usually very good and friendly have such a big emotional reaction that shes open to the idea of killing everyone and herself for the sake of Sakura, i love how DR never hesitates to make their character have big emotional responses that are sometimes extremely harmful like this one. I like an Aoi that has a type of grief that gets so revengeful shes willing to go lengths she'd never would otherwise.

10) Kaemaki, I admit this is for aesthetical purpose and bc Kaede personality wise reminds me of my oc that i ship with Maki

Favorite thing about them

Oooh this one is hard... "Favorite" is a little too wide of a definition for this, so ill narrow it down to what hits the hardest for me, and that is most definitely, the "flawed mother" angle they were going for her.

Sona isnt perfect, as much as she wants to claim otherwise, she believes in ideologies that actively put Frisks friends in danger time and time again, and as shown, is even willing to act on them in the imperfect routes, but they still love and see the good in her, because thats what theyve grown up with their whole life, and for someone who has a mom in a pretty similar situation, that hit so fucking hard for me.

Least favorite thing about them

I dont really understand the hair motif they were going for, it feels unnecessary, out of place, and compared to all the other powers she could have had in the concept art (Doll powers, omega form, ect) just feels... idk, boring to me? i just feel there was so much more potential for her.

Favorite line

"If you dont have determination, you have to fake it!" lives rent free in my mind. its the perfect way to show off one of her main ideologies, In Sonas mind, theres just simply no thing called weakness or imperfections, and anything that is lacking can be fixed right up like a doll, who cares if itll never be as genuine as the flawed and complex human being that they used to be?

Theres also the iconic "I only take the souls of children if they disobey me!" line, which i like for a lot less complex reasons. just, out of context funny lmao.

The possible relationships she can have with Dalv, and her relations to integrity are both very intriguing to me.

Like, for Dalv theres this whole thing with them that they are both flawed individuals who ran away from their problems in the past, but ended up with completely different outcomes (Dalv was ripped away from society, while Sona actively got herself involved in it) but also like?? for something fluffier, i like to imagine that Dalv is good with kids, and the idea of him running an orphanage with Sona is really cute to me.

And integrity... oughh, its seen both in the no romance endings and the perfect sans route of kc that Sona really cared for integrity (their ending having the most lore, only second to Justice because...well, uty reference, her giving them flowers in that one cg), So the idea of her in a uty scenario (cough cough kcy cough cough) finding out about what they did and their fate is a REALLY interesting angle to consider for me. so many thoughts, oh so many of them.

And then last but certainly not least, theres her and Chara which i feel like i dont talk about NEARLY enough but since this section is getting long, ill just end this off on that kc shouldve had more Sona and Chara interactions.

OK TS ACTUALLY HAPPENED BETWEEN TWO OF MY BEST FRIENDS. But basically my friends (I'm gonna call them Kathy and Patricia cuz I don't wanna disclose their names) have been dating for the past 7 months. They have been like best friends ever since pre-k and in October they started dating each other. Well, the past few months they have been having some MAJORRR trust issues with them constantly fighting about something. Well Patricia found Kathy's vent account on TikTok where Kathy was posting about how they think they are in a toxic relationship and so obviously, Patricia questioned Kathy about it. Immediately, Kathy lied and said that the post was about our other friend Maxine (another fake name). Patricia knew that it was a lie immediately, so they got into a big argument about it. It spiraled into just the over all trust issues that they have with each other with Kathy lying very often cuz they are worried that Patricia will get mad over every little thing. Some things including Kathy not being honest about the fact she was still talking to her ex and just other things of that nature. Patricia decided that because of all of this, that they would break up with Kathy so they broke up yesterday. Today, Patricia got a letter from Kathy saying the following, "To my dearest Patricia...I'm not bitter or anything because I know what we had was real. If I see you again in the future, i'll smile at you with joy of all the good memories we share, learning from each other, and growing in love. The most pure and deepest for of love is one that weakens the soul. One that can bring the most joy and happiness, but also the most pain and sorrow. That's what you have given me. 4. Nobara/Maki (JJK) - Nobara is the lesbian of all time omg....the way she talks about Maki and appreciates her SO much. 5. LOVE them so much the way they looked out for each other throughout everything and Vivi recognizing Nami's strengths and Nami even though she's scared of fighting getting hurt because she loves Vivi SO much. Girls of all time.

6. Ymir/Historia (AOT) - I've had my issues with AOT so I don't end up talking about it a lot, but this is hands down the best ship. Historia was my fave character and they were IT to each other and the final letter Ymir sends to her is top five most devastating moments in the whole series. Love some tragic lesbians.

7. Hinako/Asashi (Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon) - Read a lot of published yuri at one point and this one was a standout. Hinako struggles with comphet, anxiety, trying to meet people's expectations of her, and is also good ace rep! The two of them start out as friends and Hinako coming to accept herself is sooo good, probably some of the best canon rep I've read (need an anime for this asap)

8. Rhaenicent (HOTD) - After Game of Thrones bombed so spectacularly at the end I thought I would not like HOTD, but they brought me back on board with the toxic lesbians. Literally inseparable from each other at the start and the one person that they trust, and it just devolves as EVERYONE around them fucks them over in a way where they end up blaming the other and are bitter and hostile about it, but even still after everything you can tell there's some love that never went away truly? Insane.

9. Pharah/Mercy (Overwatch) - ...Exposing myself as an overwatch fan....But these two have some of the gayest voicelines in the entire game (Pharah is my main so I would know lmao. I'm also automatically gay for any Mercy that pocket heals/buffs me ajssllflglh). Fly through the skies together and protect each other...HEAVY flirting while they're at it...Mercy is like the one person to know about Pharah's mommy issues....Yeah I like them lmao.

10. Utena/Anthy (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - Woooaaahhhh who saw this one coming as my fave sapphic ship....everyone? Ok. Anyways ship of all time to me. It's healthy. It's toxic. It's doomed. It's saved. It's canon. I can't even really put into words in one short paragraph why they work so well, but them and their relationship are the heart of RGU. When they get to the point where Utena realizes that what Anthy doesn't need is a prince to save her, rather that Anthy needs her own agency, and Anthy is FINALLY able to leave her abusive situation through that agency, and be able to find and love Utena with full trust. The queer and feminist themes of RGU really just make it unlike any other ship that I've seen.

Spoilers for End of An Obsession

End Of An Obsession is the sequel to psychological horror yuri vn It Gets So Lonely Here. If you have not played both games, go do that, they're free, then come back to see me gush about them homosexually.

Is it weird that I ship Medea/Rosette? Like... They're witches, they hate each other, they love each other, they're soulmates, they're each other's abuser, they're so intimately connected that they can't be with anybody else.

And like, when I first read IGSLH, I didn't fully understand it, or why it was making my heart jump out of my chest, and I thought, "I wish there was a way for these characters to just be happy and love each other and not get murdered :<" But I have sense become enlightened and now understand that I am a sucker for doomed Yuri, especially when it has psychological horror elements (Psychological Yuri my beloved).

Cause they do love each other! And it's incredibly unhealthy! Rosette has killed Medea a minimum of three times, and Medea killed Rosette a minimum of six times. Rosette got betrayed by everyone she loved and now she's approximately 50% as prone to toxic yuri style murder as the woman who killed her. And Medea! I don't even know what Medea went through, but it created a very interesting lesbian. Like, she'd rather torture her lover than be broken up with, which is toxic as hell but also kinda like... not sweet, but you can see the love there? The desperation? The absolute, all-consuming NEED that colors her every action.

It's really interesting how in both games the... love interest, I guess you could call them? The insane lesbian witch torturing the protagonist, that's more accurate. But, it's interesting how they both have the goal of making their lover fully dependent on them. Medea does this through the storybook, making every other option just as bad as she is, and even more dangerous. Rosette does this by simply eliminating every other option, and keeping her there as that level of dependence becomes inevitable. And, it seems like Rosette is more successful, based on the ending of both games. But that's the thing- she isn't.

At the end of their games, it seems like Rosette escapes and Medea doesn't, but that's not true, EOAO shows that that's not true. Rosette changed her position, but she never managed to escape Medea. And honestly, that's how abuse and trauma works. I've seen how that kind of abuse from someone close to you can affect people, that place where they're stuck between hating and craving the person who hurt them. And that is portrayed so accurately in these games- Even though Rosette escapes, she comes back. She may be holding the chain now, but she is still, and always will be, chained to Medea. She can't escape, because you can't escape trauma, you can work with it and work through it, but it never goes away. And Rosette seems to have... not really worked through it. Not to victim blame, but she probably had some trouble coping considering she actively sought out her abuser and put her back into her life.

And it's not just the pain, it's the love as well, the love that, like all real and strong love, is unbreakable, the love that even after you acknowledge that that person doesn't have a place in your life, never fully goes away. And they were both so desperate to love, they couldn't let it fade to the background, they had to fan those flames until they were all consuming, because when you've spent your whole life frozen, the sting of the flame feels like paradise. But it's not. Going from one extreme to the other, even if there is that perfect point along the transfer where everything is right, it'll just keep hurting you. They don't just keep hurting each other, they keep hurting themselves by staying, but they would also hurt by leaving, cause losing love always hurts, but when that love is hurting you, it's a choice you have to make.

Oh, and the facades. The faces Medea takes in the first game. They're all so interesting. They all show what the core of Medea is- she holds on so tightly to the one she loves, that it's inevitable that it'll hurt both of them.

The gravekeeper, the mermaid, the princess, even if they have the physicality of their lover always with them, each of them sacrificed something for that, each of them lost the ability to conversate with her, to truly love.

And the exact same thing happens to Medea and Rosette. They hold on too strong until they crush each other, and now, even if they're together physically, that true, pure, healthy love is now forever unobtainable.

to expand on sinatra and vic: vic is visibly more into sin than she is to him (they do both care about each other, its just that vic is. himself. and is a more devoted person than she expected) and she does feel bad about it but shes not willing to bring it up and ruin what they both seem to perceive as a Good Thing. her perception of love is fucked so she doesnt think she knows what it actually feels like but is willing to try it and that just feeds into it. vic picks up on this eventually but hes like well maybe i deserve to be selfish Just This Once. (<=== he has given up many things that he wants for the sake of others and finally hit the limit on what hes willing to let go)

im torn on whether or not they both should get a happy ending together bc they do deserve it. and i cant really picture either of them with anyone else. its like "these two have a lot of issues that making out wont Solve but it wont make em worse so they might as well have issues together." also sinatra is insane and nobody else on my roster is willing to deal with that/love her in spite of it

tldr its (probably doomed) toxic yuri but theyre both fine with it

i am shuffling some things around so sinatra is holly and ezras aunt. shes been more like those two than the family i made her for (as much as i love the markovs theyre just not up to handling sin. this leaves arsinoe and camille as the oldest two of the family which means i have to rewrite some things DAMN IT)

vic and sinatra first met as a drunk hookup but continued seeing each other bc vic is clingy and sin is touch starved. its developed into a codependent relationship but theyre happy enough despite their issues

ezra and sin are so alike its kind of uncanny. sinatra would babysit ez a lot when she was little and they got on like a tree and fire (much to hollys disappointment. sin is a cool aunt but shes too chill about weird shit and her and ez maks a feedback loop of bad decisions)
