He presses his palm flat against his stomach. Too many indulgences, if he is to be honest. Still, he does not quite have the mind to stop. The world has taken its fair share from him, and then some. He does not have the strength to fight the want in him anymore, what little of it there is left. From somewhere beyond the kitchen, a song. It is soft, and jazzy, and unlike the music that Dean used to think of as his. He thinks of this music as his, now. Things are different from how they used to be. It is all so very sad. Or so very good, depending. Or; Dean has a home. Dean has been waiting. And grief comes knocking.

but i was wondering some things about passing and how you knew you were trans? and not just like- more masculine presenting 😭 and as someone who doesn’t have the money or help to buy a binder or trans tape is there anything about clothing that would help me ? 😖 (as someone with like a larger chest that i hate very much)

uhm also yeah i guess im really new to figuring out my gender identity so i suppose im scared i’ll tell people im trans but then figure out later on i just don’t like feminine pronouns or could be nonbinary so ive only just started exploring !

okay so the short answer is trial and error. the longer answer is that,,, it took a long time. like a solid year of hyper-fem presentation because i convinced myself maybe i just wanted a "pretty enough girl", then a solid period of time where i cut my hair shorter in increments, and then a solid time where i presented more "masc" but still used she/they etc etc -> it took a veryyyy long time !

i think something that really helped for me was separating my gender identity from my gender presentation, easier said than done,, and also tricky when it goes to "passing" but for me it was very much "okay, let's ignore how i look. let's ignore my hair and my makeup and everything. how do i feel?"

but idk. i didn't feel masc enough to use he/him but she/her made me so so dysphoric that i had to separate the two to actually get to a place where i felt okay to come out. that's the most importantttt bit of advice here, it's the labels that fit You (if any), not You fitting the Labels.

but all of that aside -> passing !! before T my main focus was more masc makeup, like trying to figure out how to do that, also clothing ! often people say baggy clothes and yes, helps with dysphoria but actually?? i feel more masc and feel as though i look it when i wear slightlyyyy baggy. like jumpers that hit my hipbones instead of my thighs and shirts that aren't tight but flowing about either. LAYERS ! layers 100% help and then (potentially irrelevant) but changing my glasses shape! didn't even consider that. asides from those small changes i very much stayed the same because of that separation i made but YAH ! small changes 🙂↕️ (and ignore allll the passing advice that's like "keep your hair natural colours! don't wear bright colours! erase your entire personality!!!" 🤨☝🏻 ignore. You > passing

in terms of binders! first of all, i see giveaways around a bit so this is a good reminder for me to share those here 🙂↕️ BUT ! sports bras are suchhhh a good alternative. especially adjustable ones -> do NOTTT go too small with it or you could run into some issues, but non-padded, non-wired sports bras work wonderssss and i tended to size down by one. and then again, layered clothing helped me a lot. like a fitted shirt w/ a half zipped hoodie was a godsend. (bear in mind here that i was a DD and went to like an A on testosterone, so i may not be the best for like,,, what works for larger chests? i was very much a binder person until starting T)

uhhh if i think of anything else i'll leave it in the replies !!! but ultimately? there's no right or wrong way to pass because we don't need to fit into these boxes 🙂↕️ and then on top of that, it is 10000% okay to swap and change and trial and error this! nothing about human existence is stagnant, we're all constantlyyyy adjusting and changing and no one can fault you for taking the time to do that :))

I've been having a blast writing the Jimmy in a raven’s wants are not confined by instinct! It’s always such a blast writing a character who is seen exclusively by the eyes of others, and see what bits of personhood are difficult for them to explain.

27. What do you listen to while writing?

Right now, I’ve been listening to my Wrapped playlist haha. Though I also Do sometimes put on movies that fit the tone, or shows that I’ve watched before. I’m known to baffle a lot of people with it, but I’m just a very auditory person! ^-^’
