To make your search a little easier, here are a few queer Palestinian books to add to your TBR. Please help me spread this by reblogging. Consider adding these to your least for Read Palestine Week (click for resources)! 💜

That you DON’T need to waste hours of your time attempting to understand the ‘law of attraction’, nor do you need to work hard or be extremely well connected. A hilarious, high-energy dark fantasy story where five friends are transported to a mysterious world. They then must overcome obstacles in their friendships while collecting teeth for a sentient puppet to make their way back home. It's perfect for fans of Tim Burton and Edward Gorey.

when the seasons change
sbi & child!gn!reader
part 1 of 4 \\ 2 3 4
a/n : welcome to the fall special (fun fact: this was supposed to be a Halloween drabble, but I missed that mark by...a month...and so I'm loosely calling this fall themed and calling it a day!) i've been m.i.a for so long sorry about that! anyway i got the sudden urge to write this so feast your eyes, i suppose.
warnings - mentions of death (minor character), abandonment, child neglect(...technically), situational angst
notes - tommy is around six / reader is a bat hybrid, and eight years old / techno and wilbur are 19 / art above is by @hackto-oshiro ! check out their stuff, their style is super cool!

Techno sighed, looking down once again to the hastily scribbled map Phil had handed him just that morning.
"Sorry to spring this on you, mate, but we need this potion restock, and I can't visit our supplier today. I'll be back not long after you return, I promise."
Techno resisted the urge to grumble. He had nothing better to do, after all. Still, he couldn't help but wonder why they didn't just make their potions with the supplies they had at home.
...Maybe it had to do with Tommy's insistence on touching everything he's not allowed to.
Shaking his head to rid himself of his wandering thoughts, he looked ahead. The forest around him thinned out a few feet away, and Techno figured he was almost at the clearing Phil had sent him off to find. Pocketing the scrap of paper he had been following for the past half hour, the piglin hybrid quickly took in the state of the clearing.
Like Phil described, oil lanterns in rickety old glass boxes decorated the small area, hung by tree branches and swaying softly in the autumn breeze. The clearing itself was like others in the area, save the copious amounts of mushrooms sprouting from the nearest trees.
Nestled in a corner was a little cottage, and upon spotting it, Techno could not help but laugh to himself. The home was cozy, built with stones and wood. It was aged but sturdy-looking enough. The windows were dark as he approached, and Techno hoped someone was home. It would be a pain to return home with nothing.
As he approached the front door, his ears twitched. Techno could hear squeaks and whimpers from behind the rickety wooden door he was facing from inside the tiny house.
A knock to the aged mahogany caused a loud crash to sound out, and Techno could do nothing but stand stiffly until the upper half of the door swung inwards, letting him lock eyes with...nothing?
"Hello! 'm sorry about the commotion. Wh- What can I get you?" A small voice sounded from far beneath Techno's line of sight. A quick readjustment finally allowed him to view who had opened the door. Concern quickly settled in his stomach, however.
The person in front of him was a child, and a stray voice in Techno's head recognized they could be no older than Tommy. They also appeared to be a hybrid - a bat hybrid if he had to guess by the sleek webbed wings caging around the trembling figure.
Dressed in a stained blouse and pants littered with patches and fraying strings, the child had either not taken a bath in some time or had been working very hard and very, very messily.
"Uh yeah... I'm here for an order, under the name Philza Minecraft." Techno watched the small being nod rapidly, spinning around with a soft "wait here!"
With the split door now partially open, Techno watched as the child hurried over to a towering wall of potions sorted on shelves, each with individual tags labeling them. From where he stood, he could briefly identify some healing pots and weakness potions.
Techno felt his breath hitch as the tiny hybrid climbed the shelves, picking up bottles and shaking their head in dissatisfaction before replacing them on the shelf. Techno was not a worrier- that had always been Wilbur or Phil's job. Still, he had also never had to watch as a child precariously wobbled on a shelf full of all kinds of potions.
"I have a few healing pots, fire resistance, regen, and water breathing reserved for you." The hybrid finally settled back onto the rickety wooden floor with a hollow thump, wings fluttering ever-so-slightly behind them. They quickly placed the potion bottles into a crate filled with hay-for padding- and set it at the door.
"...Thanks," Techno grunted, watching the kid once again hop over to a desk pushed against the corner of the cabin. They hummed an affirmative noise, flipping open an old leather-binded book.
"Oh...this says that you've ordered invis pots too." They worried their bottom lip between their teeth, and Techno just barely caught sight of small fangs pushed between their front incisors.
"I don't have those right now...but if you come back in a few hours, I could have some ready! They take some time to boil and all that if I remember correctly..." Techno nodded, quickly catching on to the panic in their voice.
"That's fine. I'll be back sometime today or tomorrow, then." Techno confirmed with the kid, taking the crate from them quickly when he noticed how their arms shook when they lifted the box to give to him. Techno handed them the small bag Phil had given to him that morning, nodding to them one last time.
A small "thank you for your patronage!" followed him down the path and out of the clearing, and as he stepped out of view, his ears picked up the (frankly quite loud) sound of the wooden door shutting again.
━━━━ ̥◌୭˚➶.
"Tommy, please, for the love of God, don't fucking climb into the boiling pot of water."
"I do what I want!"
Techno ignored the loud voices of his brothers shouting from the kitchen, taking his time as he unlaced his boots and placed them on the shoe rack by the front door. The crate of potions sat next to the rack, and he decided leaving them there would be too much of a risk with Tommy bustling around the house. So, carefully, Techno hauled the crate back into his arms and set off deeper into the house.
As he passed by the kitchen doorway, he was unsurprised to see Wilbur holding Tommy like a sack of beans against his side. Tommy had stopped fussing to his credit, choosing to dangle contently at Wilbur's side as the musician stirred the pot on the stove.
"Techno! Tell Wilbur to put me down," Tommy whined, squirming half-heartedly in Wilbur's grasp. Techno blinked at the kid before walking away pointedly, letting his mouth pull into a smirk when he heard Wilbur snicker at Tommy's resulting shout of betrayal.
Techno carefully made his way down the steps leading to their basement, pushing the door open with his back.
Their basement was warm, the air thick with the smell of burning coal. Weapons were hung on the walls, empty hilts and unshaped sheets of iron left laying on tables pushed against the corners of the room to maximize space.
Techno set the crate down on a table a few feet away from the anvil area, next to a unit of empty shelves on the wall. The shelves in question were for potion storage, but Phil had not found the time to restock the past season, and Techno himself has been gone for weeks at a time this summer.
Carefully, he arranged the potions on the lower shelves and made his way up the unit, careful to leave the label exposed. It hadn't happened often, but taking the wrong potion had proven to be detrimental to journeys in the past, and Techno would like to avoid a bleaker outcome if he could.
Techno finished his task with an idle sigh and picked up the crate once again. Leaving it at the front door would be easier, especially as he had to return for the other potions the child in the hut had promised.
Tommy rushed after him once Techno came into view, climbing up the stairs from the basement and making his way through the living area.
"Techno, tell Wilbur he's ugly!" Tommy yelled, pulling on Techno's sleeve. Techno set the crate down by the shoe rack and gave Tommy a fleeting glance.
"You're ugly, Wilbur." He drawled, turning only to make eye contact with his offended brother.
"Techno, we're twins." Wilbur scowled, ignoring Tommy's victorious cackles. Techno blinked once and shrugged, batting away Tommy's sudden out-stretched hands. (They had been trying to train Tommy out of wanting to be picked up, but really "they" only included Wilbur and Techno. Phil was a weak, weak man.)
The front door opened behind Techno, revealing Phil in all of his glory. But, unfortunately, the Autumn skies must not have been kind to him, as he was littered with shriveled orange leaves.
"Hello boys," Phil chimed, smiling lightly as he shook off the leaves trapped in his hair. All three of them responded in turn, their greetings making the avian chuckle lightly.
"Phil, how did the town look? Have they decorated for the Winter Festival yet?" Wilbur asked, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"No mate, not yet. They've been busy planning for Winter, from what I've heard. Farmers are taking stock, and businesses are checking their inventory; you know how it is." Phil shook his head, Wilbur deflating a bit at the news.
"Did you bring back treats?" Tommy asked, poking at the bag Phil had draped over his shoulder. The avian laughed lightly and opened the container slightly, reaching in and quickly dropping two sweets into Tommy's waiting hands. Tommy unwrapped one of the candies with an excited laugh and shoved the tiny thing into his mouth.
"How'd the visit with Lucielle go, Tech?" Phil asked as they moved away from the entrance. Wilbur ushered them into the kitchen, and they bustled around the space as they prepared for dinner. Techno noted what must have been the hybrid's name.
"Went fine, s'pose. They said to return either later today or tomorrow for the invisibility potions we wanted." Techno handed Tommy his bowl of stew and his special spoon as he spoke, the handle bearing a messy inscription reading "TOMMY."
"I see..." Phil hummed, brow furrowed. "Did she mention the last payment I owe her? I think I've been out a few silver for her from what I remember."
Techno shrugged, settling down at the table with his bowl. "She didn't say anything to me about a debt."
"That's fine, don't worry. Lucielle's usually a stubborn old woman, as kind as she is." He frowned at Phil's words - had the child...not been a child?
"Old?" Techno asked, confused. Phil gave him a look, almost as if he was concerned.
"Yes? Tech, Lucielle looks older than I do." Phil laughed nervously, setting his spoon down.
"The person I talked to was a child, Phil...they were alone," Techno said slowly, watching the older man grow more concerned.
"That can't be right. I saw Lucielle about…well, five months ago, when we doubled our stock in case you came back needing any." Phil paused, biting the inside of his cheek as he stared intensely at the table.
"What could have happened in those five months?" Wilbur hummed, hand covering his mouth as he thought. Techno knew this troubled Wilbur as well — he often accompanied Phil on his trips for supplies, as the musician was fascinated with the routines of people unlike them. Techno, however, had always stayed behind. The less happening around him, the better.
"The kid told me to come back, so if you wanted, we could check in on them now… it's only about a two hours walk." Techno offered, grimacing at the feeling of unease finally settling deep in his stomach.
"No… it'll rain soon. As much as I hate the possibility of leaving a child to deal with the night storm alone, we can't well travel in heavy rain and the dark. The sun will be setting in thirty minutes." Phil shot the idea down, running a hand through his hair.
"'D you think they'll be scared?" Tommy asked, his concern evident by the way his mouth contorted into a frown. Phil hesitated for a beat, looking down at the youngest.
"Well, we can only hope they'll be fine, Tommy. I'm sure the little mate can manage themselves." Phil smiled at the tiny blonde, but Techno was sure everyone at the table could see how it pulled awkwardly at his face, another attempt to soothe them and himself.
Techno glanced at the nearest window - the glass pitch black, raindrops splattering across it with loud thumps.
From the looks of the storm, Techno didn't think the kid would "manage."
