What is trigger finger? Trigger finger, or stenosing tenosynovitis, is a condition affecting the tendon sheath, a sort of tunnel through which the tendon slides to allow finger movement. Due to inflammation or thickening of this sheath, the tendon gets stuck and can no longer glide freely. This blockage causes the "clicking" or "snapping" sensation when you try to straighten your finger.
Causes
Repetitive motions: Repetitive tasks like typing, playing a musical instrument, or certain sports can irritate the tendon sheath.
Rheumatism: Inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis can contribute to the development of trigger finger.
Diabetes: Diabetes can impair tendon quality and increase the risk of this condition.
Symptoms
Pain at the base of the finger, often worse in the morning.
Swelling at the base of the finger.
A feeling of your finger locking in a bent position.
A "clicking" or "snapping" sensation when moving your finger.

Vous avez déjà ressenti ce petit "clic" en redressant un de vos doigts ? Ce phénomène, appelé doigt à ressaut, peut sembler anodin au premier abord, mais il peut rapidement devenir gênant et limiter vos activités quotidiennes.

Qu'est-ce que le doigt à ressaut ?
Le doigt à ressaut, ou ténosynovite sténosante, est une affection qui touche la gaine tendineuse, cette sorte de tunnel dans lequel glisse le tendon pour permettre le mouvement du doigt. En raison d'une inflammation ou d'un épaississement de cette gaine, le tendon se bloque et ne peut plus glisser librement. C'est ce blocage qui provoque la sensation de "clic" ou de "ressaut" lorsque vous essayez de redresser votre doigt.
Les causes
Microtraumatismes répétés : Des gestes répétitifs comme taper sur un clavier, jouer d'un instrument de musique ou pratiquer certains sports peuvent irriter la gaine tendineuse.
Rhumatismes : Certaines maladies inflammatoires comme la polyarthrite rhumatoïde peuvent favoriser l'apparition du doigt à ressaut.
Diabète : Le diabète peut altérer la qualité des tendons et favoriser l'apparition de cette pathologie.
Les symptômes
Douleur au niveau de la base du doigt, souvent ressentie le matin.
Tuméfaction de la base du doigt.
Sensation de blocage du doigt en flexion.
"Clic" ou "ressaut" lors du mouvement de flexion-extension du doigt.
Le traitement
Le traitement du doigt à ressaut dépend de la sévérité des symptômes. Il peut être conservateur ou chirurgical.
Traitement conservateur : Repos, anti-inflammatoires, infiltrations de corticoïdes, attelles.
Traitement chirurgical : Incision de la gaine tendineuse pour libérer le tendon.
La prévention
Réduire les gestes répétitifs et prendre des pauses régulières.
Porter des attelles si nécessaire.
Traiter rapidement les inflammations des doigts.
