THE y/n l/n? the girl on campus that everyone adores? the one that every guy wants a chance with? it cant be possible! youre sweet and perfect, like an angel gifted from above, so why him? well, you just cant help it. you love the way his face subtly flushes when you enter the room, the way he stutters in nervousness when interacting with you. its hard not to fall inlove with someone so endearing.

“w-what..?” he stutters, not knowing if what he heard was correct or if his mind was just playing tricks on him. “you heard me. i like you sunghoon, i really do.” you say with a soft, loving smile. he cant help but feel himself getting hot, even in the cool morning air inside the quiet, empty library. he stares up at you from his seat, searching for any signs of deception, except all he can see is your genuine smile and the way your eyes gleam down at him as if he’s the prettiest thing you’ve layed your eyes upon (he is). he continues looking up at you in silence as his mouth falls agape, his deep eyes almost doe-like through his glasses. “ill take that as a yes” you say, excitement etched in your voice before your place a gentle hand on his smooth cheek and give his forehead a soft, feather-light kiss. he swears he almost died on the spot from how hard the butterlies were banging against his ribs. “bye-bye hoonie!” you beam at him before skipping away as if youre the happiest girl alive.

nerd!sunghoon who follows you around campus like a lost puppy. he hates being away from you, even for a single second. during classes without him, you often receive texts about how much he misses you, and he smiles like an idiot at his phone when you tell him that you miss him too, and that you cant wait to see him. his friends tease him constantly but he doesnt care. wherever you are, he follows closely.

you sit at a table with your group of friends, talking to each other about anything and nothing. sunghoon sits close by your side, toying with your smaller hand until one of your friends asks something that makes him perk up. “hey y/n, why do you even like that nerd anyways?” she asks, looking at you with an air of confusion. “hey! dont say that about him,” you begin scolding, pointing a finger at her with your free hand, “hes my cutie” you coo, turning your head to look at him with a soft smile on your face. his heart warms at this, and he tries his hardest to stop the corners of his mouth from twitching upwards, looking down sheepishly with a flushed expression. “youre right, sorry” your friend apologises, noticing the way you look at him so lovingly. being the most responsible and nurturing in the group, your friends often find themselves listening to you like children listening to their mother. if you like him so much, they guess they can tolerate him (as the newfound father of the group).

nerd!sunghoon who will do anything you ask him to. whether it be giving you a pencil, buying food for you, holding your bag, or even playing with your hair, hes right there like a puppy waiting for instructions. he even insists on doing all of your homework for you, knowing you likely dont wanna do it. you tell him that its okay, and that you should be doing it yourself, but its hard to refuse his innocent, pleading eyes.

“hoonie, can you brush my hair for me please?” you ask him politely, handing him your hairbrush. “of course!” he beams, nodding profusely as he takes the brush out of your hands. after you face forward, he begins brushing your hair with the most gentle care, as if you would break of he were to be too rough. he puts his free hand on your shoulder, using his fingers to trace patterns across it in a way that soothes you. sunghoon keeps brushing through your soft locks, so gently that it almost tickles. “is this okay..?” he asks with uncertainty, unsure if he’s doing it right or not. “mhm” you hum in satisfaction, basking in the way his fingers glide against your shoulder and through your hair. this is like heaven to him, he just feels so privileged to be able to even breathe in the same direction as you, let alone brush your gorgeous, soft hair for you. after he finishes, he places the hairbrush down on the ground next to you before using his hands to delicately guide your head down into his lap. once its down, he starts threading his fingers through your hair, lightly scratching at your scalp in a way that makes your breathing slow and steady as you relax into him.

nerd!sunghoon who melts into your touches. you do something as simple as fixing his glasses for him during class and he finds himself subconsciously leaning into your hand, chasing the warmth it gives him.

upon noticing his glasses slipping down his face as he jots down notes in his book, you reach up to push them back into place. feeling the warmth of your hand close to his face, he immediately stops writing and looks at you, leaning in closer to your hand without even realising it. in seeing this, a smile makes its way onto your face as you place that hand on his cheek, using your thumb to gently caress his soft skin. his eyes lightly flutter at the sensation, feeling his heart beat a million miles per hour as he nuzzles into your hand. a content sigh leaves his pretty lips before he closes his eyes blissfully, basking in the feeling of your manicured hand against his cheek.

nerd!sunghoon who whines pathetically into your mouth as you kiss him, feeling completely weak and powerless at the way your fingers pull at his hair, guiding his head in the direction you want him to go.

he moans as you run a hand down his chest, giving you the perfect chance to slip your tongue inside. he whimpers as he feels your tongue exploring the inside of his mouth, digging his fingers into your hips to try and ground himself. you pull back for a moment to catch your breath, taking in his flushed face, glossy eyes, and hair sticking to his forehead. “please..” he whines, panting to get enough air back into his system. “please what, baby?” you ask, a smirk evident on your face. “please keep going.. d-dont stop” he pleads, on the verge of tears. he’s never felt anything like this before, and he cant help but want more. you lean in again, shoving your tongue back down his throat as he kisses you desperately, like he needs you. he can already feel a knot beginning to tighten in his stomach, whimpering into your mouth as he feels his release approaching. sunghoon lets out a loud moan into your mouth as he lets go, his whole body vibrating at the sensation. “please, please, please, please” he begs, moving his lips against yours more desperately. he’s not entirely sure what he’s begging for, but he knows he wants more. as you both finally part, you look up to sunghoon to see tears running down his cheeks in both bliss and embarrassment. “did you just..” you begin asking, moving your hands to his cheeks to wipe his tears. “i-im sorry.. i know im so patheti-” he begins before you cut him off, “shhh, its okay sweetie”. you hush him, giving his nose a quick peck before continuing, “go quickly clean yourself up so we can finish watching the movie, yeah?” you finish, at which he immediately nods at and goes to do what youve asked.

back at it again with the crack theories!! it's what i do best, what can i say.

initially, when i was going through the demons in the ars goetia, i was like "huh, dantalion sounds a lot like dandelion. i wonder if that's going to have to do with us." and then i got further in my list and saw it was subaru's demon and there went that theory. and THEN i read more about dantalion and holy shit dude

anyways this is just a post going a lil more in depth on subaru's stigma, demon, and where i think he fits in the story

so first off, the ars goetia is fucking bonkers. in my professional opinion (i'm an opinionated nerd and a former humanities major), all grimoires that were written around the 13-15 centuries (and were widely publicized) are so goofy. the like, "modern" witchcraft thing is so funny to me because these experts were just making things up and making up their rules and all wildly contradicting each other in every book. i love the drama

but that's not what you're reading this for so i'll get off my soapbox

several of these demons are listed in a bunch of grimoires, but the tkdb wiki (however reliable) lists the ars goetia, so we'll go with that description

shoutout to wikipedia for having one of the only compilations of info that didn't have pretentious drivel to get through (i'm not being a hypocrite shh). tumblr mobile stop deleting my drafts challenge

as far as i can gather, the rankings in the ars goetia are meaningless lol. each demon has their title and their legions and satan rules over all. each demon is also listed as the things they were meant to teach, because the purpose of having these demons in a list was for summoning purposes. you would summon a demon, wear its seal so you could control it, and ask it questions based on what it had dominion over.

the demon's other abilities were what i was really interested in, especially in relation to subaru. the first one listed is the ability to declare counsel on anyone; basically he can read minds. he knows anyone's secret thoughts and can also apoarently change them to his will.

this one applies directly to subaru's stigma. his stigma is the ability to read residual thoughts from people and objects. there is zero doubt in my mind that if we were to enhance his stigma, he'd be able to read active thoughts. or more! luca summoned a whole ass creature with his and all he can do is guard or whatever. who knows what he could do? change thoughts maybe?

the next ability listed isn't as relevant, "cause love and show similtude", but the NEXT part: "show the same by means of a vision." could subaru, in theory and while using us, project the memories he's seeing so that everyone can see them as well?? i think so!!

the last part is also just so subaru, "many faces," meaning he can appear as anyone, man or woman. ngl, i thought subaru was a lesbian the first time i saw him and got so excited, but this is definitely referring to his ability to act. we saw a bit of it in episode 15 where he auditions for the haunted house and then acts like SUCH a freak in that room. love him.

there's also a part about the demon always being depicted holding the book but idk what that means yet, will revisit later

subaru's abilities are so fascinating and honestly he has so much potential to do some crazy shit with us boosting his stigma. i do think he fits aomewhere into my theory about what's going on with taiga's memory but again, i don't have a solid theory yet just because of how little information we have.

the main theory thatni have about subaru is that i think he did have something to do with taiga's memory issues, and i do think he's the type of person that could be blackmailed into helping the faculty and work against the ghouls. his stigma would allow him to get an insane amount of information on the other ghouls simply by touching things discarded by them. the galaxy express area is full of lost items, it'd be a field day for him. who knows how much he's found out about the campus just by grabbing things in there?

maybe he doesn't leave his room anymore because he found out too much last year. maybe he doesn't want darkwick to use him any more than they already have. who knows?

what we do know is that subaru is a squishy little freak and i'm so fascinated by him and his story. can't wait for the next sinostra chapter to come out and (hopefully) get more info on taiga.

i’ve seen at least two posts today implying that jimmy and joel’s homosexual tendencies on the real life smp are a result of etho not being on when,,, in all reality,,, there’s more proof of his whole thing with etho on hermitcraft being because jimmy isn’t there. the shenanigans on real life smp are more of a return to form for joel than anything else.

He definitely has a sketchbook, no question. I feel like he's drawn each Akatsuki member at least once, not necessarily because he likes them, but it's more just an artistic challenge for him. He would totally either do small portrait sketches or a full-body sketch just because. Most of the time, he'd do it when bored, or if he just wants an "out of memory" challenge. Here's how many times I think he'd draw a member/how he drew them:

Sasori: At least 3 times. At least. I feel like he definitely likes the anatomy of his puppets, but he would never truly admit it as he'd be like, "Hmph! My art is much more beautiful!" Or something, LOL. He's definitely and probably only drawn full-body, just a layout of Sasori's anatomy.

Kakuzu: Like twice. He would probably be curious about his tentacles and how they run through his body and his 5 hearts. One would probably be a portrait of Kakuzu's face, primarily focused on the stitches of his mouth and how his thread comes out of it. Another would be a full-body, showcasing his tentacle-like threads coming out of his stitches as well.

Hidan: Once. Nothing really too interesting about him beyond his skeletal markings. I feel like it'd just be a portrait of his face when he has the Jashin markings on him. (I seriously don't know what to call them besides that😭 you know, the state his skin gets after he licks blood smh)

Itachi: Once and reluctantly. He only drew a rough sketch of his face just to test his memory and practice. He ended up stabbing and ripping the paper with his pencil smh.

Pain: Honestly... I'm not sure. It's definitely more than once, though. I'm not sure if he'd draw all six paths, but he definitely drew the Deva path (Yahiko). I think it would be a full-body drawing, just focused on his chakra rods.

Konan: More than twice. I feel like he thinks her paper wings could be artistic, so he probably drew a full-body initially. For the second time, I dunno why, but I feel like he'd gift a small portrait sketch to her just cus. Idk, it's a hunch lol

Kisame: Twice, portrait only. Deidara is probably interested in his shark-like features or something like that.

Zetsu: More than thrice. Mostly because of the two halves/bodies, and also because he's fascinated by his plant structure. Always full-body, beside one sketch of his face with both halves present.

Tobi: Once, and it's a shitty doodle portrait, LOL. Tobi definitely harassed him to do it. "Ohhh, come on, please, senpaiii!?~ Make me look good, okay?~" Tobi would say as he's like pretending to curl his hair with his finger. LMAO.

This chapter is titled "It Never Ends" in Scrivener….if that tells you anything about how much this fic spun out of my control 😅 whoops. I had zero of this except the very last scene in my plans for this fic. I told my friend he should take me out sniper style if I tried to add even more because I’d already spent two months on writing this and had all my editing to go back and do still. He did not stop me from adding more. Betrayal.

But yeah, there wasn’t originally any Belobog, much less any getting into Blade’s stalking and brief appearance as Smiling Black Dragon. I couldn’t resist the opportunity though, especially since I don’t think that event is very well known? Maybe it was just me who didn’t know though, cause I joined the fandom late.

Did Serval canonically ever visit the Express? I know we had that quest about her planning to join up, but she didn’t go through with it. I don’t know if she ever got around to a casual visit, so I’m saying it still hasn’t happened. Also that Himeko and Welt still haven’t visited Belobog. All for the sake of one dumb joke about people mistaking Blade for Welt cause they’ve never met Welt. I’m not funny -_-

The entirety of belobog: is it rude to ask a hero why they suddenly have horns and pointy ears? Maybe this is normal for people from beyond the sky? I think it should be shared somewhere that one of my edit notes on this fic was: "Make Shard Sword his emotional support sword." Because I am still laughing to myself about that They are both losers. DH had to go to the girls for date ideas because he is a nerd with nerd hobbies. Blade, meanwhile, has no hobbies other than stalking because depression and PTSD. And they want to date??? Tragic.

Dan Heng can be impulsive and emotional (still laughing about Taoran, though there was definite forethought put into that one. Get fucked, shit-breather), but at the end of the day, he’s a very rational and level-headed person. I think I struck a decent balance between these things in that last argument… But I do worry that I’ve made Dan Heng too much of a doormat at times 😭He’s not being a doormat, I promise. He’s just trying to think things through and be understanding. He doesn't like to act before having a decent idea of the full picture.

you guys are not gonna believe what i just beat red with LMFAO. set mode + no items in battle (held items ok) + i am like 30 levels underleveled on all of my guys. partially for my own amusement and pride, partially to spite people who talk about how much you "have to" grind in johto games

it took a few attempts since my strategy relies on some decent luck to happen but there's a few ways it could go and i could succeed! and it really didn't take that long!! explanation below the cut for anyone who wants to nerd about this with me

red leads with his pikachu, i lead with meganium. EQ isn't quite a one shot and i have to reset if he lands charm on me, but sometimes he chooses thunder and sometimes charm misses so it's not that bad. i just spam EQ and let him waste his full restores until pikachu goes down

next he sends out venusaur, and i set up light screen and then spam body slam until it paralyzes, which happens most of the time since i resist all his grass moves + am behind a light screen and i get a lot of chances for that 30% paralysis as a result

i let meganium go down for the clean swap into houndoom, who is able to take the venusaur out with one flamethrower after meganium chipped it a bunch (she outspeeds because the venusaur is paralyzed!!)

he sends out his blastoise next, depending on the state of light screen, sunny day from his venusaur, etc, i choose to go into politoed to resist surf or snorlax who can weather hits in general and stall the blastoise out. in my winning attempt i went to politoed, and land a hypnosis after missing it once, so now politoed is low

this is the one part that's particularly RNG heavy - i swap into magneton and use thunder twice for the KO. this requires blastoise to stay asleep long enough for thunder's shitty accuracy to actually land twice. i do have a quick claw which boosts the odds of it going well just a little bit. in this case it works out

red sends out espeon so i swap into houndoom, hopefully on a baited psychic but unfortunately he goes for reflect instead. my houndoom just barely misses out on the 2 shot and goes down to some swifts even from full HP smh. so i have to send out my snorlax who can take one psychic and take espeon's last remaining bits of HP with a body slam

now for the fun part. red sends out his snorlax. who for some reason only has normal attacking moves, snore and body slam. so i send out the gengar i trained up for catching the roamers (technically he is literally the only pokemon i ever grinded levels on in my entire playthrough because i decided i wanted him last minute and had already fought every trainer in the game, but it wasn't that bad + he's nearly 40 levels under red's team still lmfao) and well. since snorlax took a ton of unexpected damage from psychic, i first do some very careful slow ass switching to get him back to full HP... with leftovers recovery. and then once that's done i use curse with gengar

in a perfect world, i use hypnosis after curse, it lands, and his snorlax just stays asleep through all the curse damage, but unfortunately he wakes up and uses rest - this puts him in a cycle where if i'm just sitting there with gengar, he'll never die from curse damage since he rests on the turn he would faint from the damage and wakes up and uses rest again in a loop like that. SO to get him to faint from curse without having to literally PP stall him, on his second turn of rest i swap into politoed who is on low HP (this is safe because he's never going to choose a normal type attack against gengar), which baits body slam on his wake-up turn instead of using rest again, and then swap into gengar immediately to be immune to the body slam. gengar outspeeds and uses psychic to take out the singular HP point remaining

and at last all that's left is his charizard. i let gengar go down and swap into snorlax who's now at full HP again and use toxic, and now it's just a matter of a very iffy toxic stall. magneton and politoed being alive in the back means i can swap to them as sacrifices if i need a little more leftovers recovery, and in the end charizard goes down to toxic damage after rest + sleep talking him (in gen 2, if rest is called by sleep talk, even though the user is already asleep, they use rest again which resets the sleep counter and heals them again so yeah)

i'm unreasonably proud of this bullshit LMAO fuck level grinding man this is way more entertaining

Rika’s jealousy and envy of V’s “light” compared to her “darkness” is at the heart of what killed their relationship and plays a huge role in the creation of the mint eye. V certainly isn’t nowhere near as vain as Julius Caesar, but Rika couldn’t fit the role of Brutus here any better than she already does🥺🥺🥺.

“That the people would see me too as a poet, and not just the muse” is such a good line for rika’s thoughts and feelings on their relationship augh, she sees v’s ability to love her, to “save” her, and constantly compares it to her hatred of everyone in her past who mistreated and abused her, and wonders “why can’t I have the ability to love others? why am I in agony even now in this relationship? why can’t I be the savior and not just v’s muse?”

Totally encapsulates Rika’s slow mental decline as V keeps enabling her, it stoked her “devil” and it starts to create a vicious cycle of “heap on the love, get jealous of v’s light, become resentful and aggressive as an unhealthy coping mechanism, “test v’s love” (hurt him), remorse, hate herself, resolve to be “cured” by the light, repeat”. She has no idea what romantic love actually looks like, so she gets it confused with obsessive hatred.

There’s no need to change, it’s uncomfortable and scary, just stay in this place I built for you and me.” MC fuckin HATES this shit, but being in a place like mint eye wears down on you, so mc will occasionally (and very begrudgingly) lean on Rika for support. It’s very sweet (delusional).

Ok this oldie sticks out jahshj (I’m a fnv freakazoid) but it’s totally MC singing about V 🥹💕. I wouldn’t say it was “love at first sight”,,,,, but it was totally “attraction at first sight” lmao (big difference). Their attraction was really quick to spark, they had a lot of things in common and similar views (not so much in other things LOL) like their love for art in all forms, their introverted nature, their mutual appreciation for all things romantic (aka, their both in love with falling in love), and their similar martyr complex lolololol. MC singing this while spending a sleepless night tending to a sickly drugged V, while lamenting her newfound budding feelings for him,,,(cephy stop obsessing over romance as a tragedy challenge: impossible)

Their dynamic can be confusing, but don’t worry, you can’t possibly be more confused than they are, and they’re IN IT lol. Generally their dynamic is, the “ring leader” (Rika) and her two adoring affectionate “lovers” (V and MC) (more like playthings tbh). They have a whole web of dynamics though, ray made a chart to keep track of it all so when inevitably Rika has a meltdown over a perceived slight and needs him to vent to, he can keep track of what’s what (kinda)(poor guy).

Rika/MC affection: USUALLY MC does NOT want anything to do with Rika,,, but V can be super suffocating,,,, and Rika is extremely persistent with getting MC’s attention, and the line between hate and love can be extremely thin (especially in their case). MC tends to relent when rika’s upset though, she doesn’t like seeing her cry (she tries to convince herself lol) and will comfort Rika when she does. MC generally follows Rika’s led in moments like this (overstepping her bounds, even accidentally, is a recipe for disaster). Rika knows this, and will take full advantage, cue 7 hour cuddling session that takes up MC’s whole day, even if she had something planned with V 🤭🤭🤭 Rika is also wayyyy more happily (and sexually) affectionate with MC than with V lol (cause she’s closeted lesbian- wHO SAID THAT) Mutual biting, but the one biting is usually Rika.

V/MC affection: my sweet lovers,,,,, they are much too sweet to each other considering the circumstances,,, V (despite his relationship with Rika) has never felt so genuinely attracted to another person before, it’s always been a conscious choice he’s made for the sake of his art, his love, his obsession, his guilt, his light. So when his feelings for MC spring up outta nowhere, he has a kinda catholic reaction to them ahdghshgd. “Good heavens, what is this feeling??? For a woman I met a week ago, no less….. What a sad excuse for a man I am, how could I love anyone else besides Rika….i should stop…(proceeds to call MC for the 50th time that day just to hear her voice)” and MC,,,, MC has never had a more embarrassing crush on a guy, ever HEHEHE she doesn’t know how to cope with his flustering when she reaches for his hand, his old timey romantic gestures (getting her flowers and walking with her on the side farthest from the road)(throwing his coat on a puddle for her to walk on HSHSDJ). He can be a lil too much at times, (which sometimes frustrates her, she feels smothered at times, and it’s her first relationship (good lord) and she’s not a well adjusted person either) but they both have this really cute, almost innocent, puppy love thing going on, it’s cute 🥰, it’s also the only kind of real affection v gets lol (poor guy). MC has a bad case of “cute-aggression” that gets exasperated by V’s smothering, so it’s usually her giving out the bites hjajhd V takes anything she gives him, he’s so touch starved. Rika usually butts in on their time together, but more on that later.

V/Rika affection(or lack thereof) : these two,,,, the apocalyptic disaster couple themselves,,,,, well for starters Rika keeps him at a looooong distance, in most cases. The reason (at least she believes) they broke up in the first place is because rika’s devil was being burned by V’s love, BUT she admits herself that she “needs” v’s light to fuel her darkness. V also feels an obligation to shine his light on her, the initial obsession and intrigue long dead by now, but he still genuinely cares about Rika’s wellbeing, very much so. They “love” and “need” each other like a sick person needs their meds, but the sick person doesn’t feel affectionate towards their medication, right? No real heart-warming connection towards their pill bottle, it’s just something they need to live. In fact, wouldn’t they feel resentful of their medicine?? Having to constantly depend on it for survival, all the while dealing with side effects when they would rather do anything else?? Yeah that’s their relationship lol,,,,,(somebody get a therapist on speed dial) There’s Biting here too, but it’s all Rika, and not at all playful as her bites with MC, and her bites are nowhere near as passionate like the ones MC gives him.

111. JEALOUSY AND INSECURITY

Oooh lord 😭😭😭 Rika’s practically made of it, V unfortunately enables it, and MC cannot stomach it (except when she gets jealous too). Most of their fights (that practically rival ancient Chinese civil wars in casualties) stem from someone (usually Rika, never V) feeling jealous or insecure. It’s a miracle this poly trio even happened. It’s a complete scientific mystery as to how the poly trio is still going.

Rika’s jealousy and insecurity: I could write a detailed analysis on rika’s insecurity that would rival the Lord of the Rings in length and it still wouldn’t convey just how bad she’s got it, so I’ll try and give the cliff notes instead. She feels she “needs” to be loved in order to be validated as a living being, worthy of living happily. So when she feels “left out” (not the center of attention for 2 seconds) she spirals, thinking she’s being left alone just like so many times before in childhood, just like a defective doll her adopted parents didn’t want, and that maybe they were right, she couldn’t possibly deserve love. Panicking, she usually interrupts whatever V and MC have going on, and insists on reassurance of their love for her, and if she feels she’s being slighted, she’ll fly into a rage, handing out punishments and tests of love, but you can tell she’s biased cause MC’s “punishment” is being confined to Rika’s comfy bedroom for a week and V’s punishment is being locked in the dungeon for 3 weeks 😭😭😭😒😒😒 Usually best case scenario is

V/MC enjoying a moment together alone cuddling

Rika immediately being alerted via her sixth sense

Rika barging in like “make room bitches”

Rika settling smack dab between them lol

MC’s jealous and insecurity: She HATES Rika’s jealous fits so fuckin much lmaoooo 🤭. She convinces herself she would never get jealous ever…… which is an outright LIE it just manifests differently and less often. She hates V’s tendency to distance himself from her to appease Rika, it makes her insecurity flare badly, cue her starting a spat with Rika, and hoping V will take her side. It’s stupid, petty, and downright goofy behavior honestly, but it’s her first relationship (good lord) and she’s got the worst fucking partners ever 🫠🫠🫠 how else is a sheltered neurodivergent girl in her early 20s to cope.

V’s (non existent) jealousy and insecurity: As you have correctly guessed,,,,,, V is definitely not a jealous man HJDDSJSJSF 😂😂😂😂 He is weirdly secure in the relationship, due to Rika’s dependence on his “light” and though his relationship with MC is very new, he feels the tight bond (trauma bond lol) they have and doesn’t worry about whether or not she’ll leave him, also due in part to the fact he doesn’t worry about them not returning his affections, he’s more worried about whether or not he deserves to love or be loved in the first place. If he found out one of them saw someone else outside the trio, he wouldn’t be upset besides somehow twisting the event into somehow being his fault like “if my light was strong enough they wouldn’t have had to go somewhere else for it, was I neglecting them??? 😢😢😢”(poor guy) This trait of his tends to set the other two off, as they mistake his laidback “I’m cool with everything” security as aloofness, and spiral into their insecurity 😑😑😑 it also has the hilarious (debatable) effect of usually ending spats between Rika and MC.

anyways i love petty tohma he's so insane. his backhandedness was wasted in vagastrom i'm glad he's in a populace that can fully appreciate how petty he is. do you think he wore a monocle in vagastrom too?

honestly one of my only complaints about this story is that we don't see more of the classes. i would LOVE to sit in on an anomalous law lecture, or even biology. it would be soooo interesting to learn some of that. could just be the nerd in me but whatever

also what the fuck is moby dude. i know i've said it before in my faculty post but he's got to be an anomaly of some sort which makes his behavior so insane towards the ghouls. on the other hand, if he's in the chancellor's ear all the time complaining about these ghouls that are killing anomalies.........

i guess they could also be referring to jiro but he wasn't dead, just in a coma. i'm like 90% sure they're talking about dante coming back considering that comes up again in subsequent episodes

oh wait actually i just got further in the episode and they're talking about the case we're going on.....so does that mean tohma was lying when he said these were low ranking missions since he already suspected it was something strong?

(edit, finished the episode: yes lmao jin suspected there was something stronger so they looked into it anyways)

also! hyde says he hasn't seen jin's face in about half a year. so put the betrayal at about six months before the year started in the timeline!

episode one is also where we get the first mentions of jin not being able to use his stigma. god i forgot how long episode one is, there's so much info. i feel like episode one could've easily been like, three or four anime episodes. i love kaito and luca's dynamic and it's so fun to read through it all over again

it is also fun to see how much they teased in this first episode. we got the yuri/jin drama mention with yuri's reaction to just mentioning frostheim (and jiro just being great in general as usual)

new runner up for funniest moment in the script is mc saying that she blinked when kaito took the selfie

oh super interesting--when that announcement goes off from the paintings, it shows haku, yuri (&jiro), and tohma reacting to the news. haku and yuri both used to be in frostheim and tohma is now. granted, we don't know a lot of other ghouls at this point, but it's interesting that those were the three shown. damn what episode does that get revealed in? gonna up the spoiler warning just in case lol

they really do kinda have tohma set up as a red herring for the traitor don't they? or even the whole yuri tohma incident. the only reason i really say red herring is that it's almost too apparent, like a misdirect. like here, look this way! shady petty boy has too much info! someone left jin already! it feels like a very obvious set up. honestly i'm not mad about it, it adds a whole other level of suspicion to the whole situation and that'll make the reveal that much cooler when it happens

this exchange is also really interesting in retrospect. we know rui was in clementia, but did he have some sort of history with helping people darkwick thought he shouldn't? i'm about to go reread some of rui's interactions, i know he and haku have a lot of history (and a lot beyond what we even know at this point) but this kind of makes me think that rui would have been put in the "dissidents" category that keeps getting brought up

and then the end of this conversation is so crazy in retrospect. he definitely knows what happens. it's making me think that those others that haru and taiga mentioned (gen & co) had at least one of them that tried to run or something and that's how they ended up in this situation, at least partially. maybe that's why haku ends up on darkwick's side (to save his own hide) or potentially that's why he's considering flipping back to the ghouls side. the whole interaction here with rui and then haku warning mc against doing anything feels like a crazy hint, but i don't know to what yet

"I have earned a great amount of trust from the staff at Darkwick." tohma continues to be shady smh. still don't think he's the traitor though, just a double agent of sorts.

sidenote: luca bowing to jin and introducing himself while fucking COVERED in anomaly blood and still in the basement surrounded by bodies is so good i love him sm. also him covering kaito's eyes so he doesn't look at the match PLEASE

all in all this is such a good introductory episode. it's long as hell but it has good introductions with characters, with the school, with the threat of discipline, a good starter anomaly and mystery--it's so good. it kicks off one of the minor subplots of betrayal and then also teases info about the clash....ugh just good all around imo
