Who is the most tragic Greek mythological character?
Andromache 100%
Andromache had her entire family as well as her in-laws killed or enslaved, her rapist killed her child and then forcefully impregnated her, only to not defend her or their child from his wife’s abuse.

Hector and Andromache :). I just like it when there happy and will never be tragic.
Andromache clothing was inspired by this relief sculpture of a women breastfeeding, which I thought fit her. I don’t know why I picked the color red maybe it’s foreboding.

Hector’s armor was inspired by this, I don’t know where the sources came from for this image. But it looked cool, so I decided to use it.

This is a study of Chirico's "Hector and Andromache" I had to do for class, but in a different art style!
I need to fix Ada's hair a bit, as well as her belt and some other details, since I had to do it in a hurry 😮💨
But I had so much fun painting this! 🫶

I perceive Andromache and Helenus' relationship as a comfort marriage, if that makes any sense. Both of them were survivors of the Trojan War, most their family members dying either during or after the war. Both of them held the memory of what Troy used to be. And finally, both of them lost their beloved ones and home, and suffered throughout all these years before Neoptolemus' death. I'm not imagining that there was something inherently romantic in their relationship, but rather mutual pain and misery shared between them two. I also believe that the main reason why Helenus married Andromache was in order to free her from slavery after he took Neoptolemus' throne.

not a day goes by that I don't think about Andromache. first, her entire family was killed by Achilles, then the same man killed her husband, and she had to watch his body be dragged around Troy like a prize to parade. her city fell, and she was taken to become a lady in waiting for some queen or a slave, how many men threw her around for their pleasure? she probably doesn't know Astyanax was killed. I wonder if she lays awake at night and mourns her son, or if she hopes he's alive and looking for her, maybe a greek soldier had mercy on her baby boy.
