Love that Sony is essentially murdering one of the best multiplayer shooters I've ever played because they want everyone to be in their shitty ecosystem.
Look, for me on a personal level, I like the game enough that I have no issue linking a PSN account. And it was on the Steam page from the start that linking would be required. But that's not the problem.
This sort of thing should not be mandatory. I can think of *incentives* for doing this (cross progression???) But making this mandatory is a huge fuckup. For one, there are many many countries that do NOT have PSN access, so anyone from those countries are effectively banned. For two, there are people that have privacy concerns given SONY's track record with hacks and infosec. And it's pretty damn clear the game does not need this. Crossplay has worked fine as far as I've seen, so the only reason this is happening is because SONY wants it to happen.
Personally I feel that's a non-issue, given *gestures at everything*, so what's one more tbh? (Especially people complaining about this on places like Discord) but hey there are people who are concerned about that and I suppose I commend that.
Shitty decision by SONY all around. Stupid corporate morons.

You're a member of the Hazard Corps. You and three teammates join a 32-person dedicated server where each team of four is trying to accomplish smaller goals as part of a larger campaign on a shared map similar to Helldivers or Apex Legends.
Airlift survivors from a capsized boat. Rappel into a bug hive to place thermite. Fight a fire on the 77th story of a huge glass skyscraper while evacuating civilians. Place ion thusters to redirect an asteroid that's threatening a nature preserve planet. Cut into the hull of a massive starliner to evacuate people before the entire thing depressurizes. Lose a limb in an industrial accident and fire at encroaching enemies as your friends drag you back to the dropship on a stretcher.

MAJOR ORDER
The Automatons have launched vigorous assaults on multiple planets. A large-scale offensive appears to be underway, led by the Incineration Corps. Immediate action is demanded.
Preliminary analysis of troop movements indicate the likely target of the offensive: Malevelon Creek.
This hallowed ground is the resting place of many, many brave Helldivers whose ultimate sacrifices freed the planet from the Automatons early in the War. Now, the enemy seeks to defile their gravesâobviously having calculated that seizing the planet on the upcoming Malevelon Creek Memorial Day would result in the greatest net desecration.
Super Earth will never tolerate such an outrageous affront to decency.
All Helldivers are called to defend and hold Malevelon Creek. To unite, and unleash Super Earthâs righteous Justice with the fullest permitted fury.

The Authorized Command Structure may, at any point, with no prior notice, make amendments to the schedule of services outlined in Appendix A. A copy of Appendix A may, if required, be obtained by the Enlisted through contacting the relevant authorities in the SEAF Administrative Corps, with a hard copy of the Appendix to be delivered to the requesting Enlisted within 5-10 business years.
1.2 The Services performed by the Enlisted for the Enlister shall include, but are not limited to active combat operations (which may include, but shall not be limited to raids, deployments, invasions, sorties, forays, assaults, blitzes, incursions, onslaughts, liberations, razings, flattenings, and nukings), non-combat operations (which may include but shall not be limited to parades, interviews, signings and appearances, executions (both summary and otherwise), interplanetary transportation, including the escort of civilian or Democratic vessels, and any activities deemed necessary in the pursuit of the aims identified by (i) The Enlister, and (ii) The Authorized Command Structure. In order to enable full and complete enactment of these Services, the Enlisted is hereby authorized to employ lethal force, non-lethal force, non-lethal non-force, and lethal non-force, to be employed at the discretion of the Enlisted. The Enlisted may not subcontract in whole or in part any of the duties requested of them by the Enlister.
1.3 The Services shall be performed by the Enlisted at locations identified by (i) The Enlister (ii) The Authorized Command Structure. In order to enable the completion of the Services in an efficient and timely manner, the Enlisted will be entrusted with the command of a Class 6 "Super Destroyer" Series Crewed Interplanetary Combat Vessel (hereby referred to as "The Super Destroyer") Upon the Termination of the Contract of the Enlisted (refer to Section 5, TERMINATION), command of this Super Destroyer will be transferred to the next eligible Enlisted in the order designated by (i) the serving Ship Master, (ii) The Enlister, (iii) the Authorized Command Structure, (iv) Accredited representatives of the parties listed in clauses 1.3.i - 1.3.iii. The heirs, successors, and assigns of The Enlisted have no right, claim or interest in the ownership or command of the Super Destroyer. Should the actions of the Enlisted result in loss, damages, or impediments to the Super Destroyer, requiring ameliorative or restorative action, the cost of such repairs shall be subtracted from the Martyrdom Payment due to the heirs or successors of the Enlisted (refer to Section 2 COMPENSATION).
1.4 The Enlisted will be responsible for the purchasing, maintenance, replacement, and improvement of the equipment used for the provision of services. If the contract of the Enlisted is terminated due to the conditions outlined in Clause 5.1 (absence of pulse), the equipment purchased, maintained, replaced, and improved by the Enlisted shall stay with Destroyer, and shall be made available to the next Helldiver to command the vessel.
2 REMUNERATION
2.1 For the performance of the services outlined within the schedule set forth in Appendix A, the Helldiver shall receive monetary compensation for the services rendered. The compensation shall vary in line with the services performed. The Enlister reserves the right to, at any time and with no prior notice, make amendments to the schedule of payments.
2.2 The Enlister acknowledges that the position of the Enlisted ("Helldiver") is classified by the Super Earth Ministry of Employment as an "Exceptionally Patriotic Duty". Accordingly, upon commencement of the delivery of services, the immediate family members of the Enlisted (defined as parents, siblings, heirs, and successors) shall receive 4.5 citizenship points, to be allocated at the recipientsâ discretion. This compensation shall be non-transferable, and may not be exchanged for a cash equivalent.
2.3 In the event of the non-continuation of the 'alive' status of the Enlisted in the course of the rendition of services, a Martyrdom Payment shall be made to the immediate family members of the Enlisted (defined as parents, siblings, heirs, and successors) minus any dispensations outlined in Section 1.3.
3 CONFIDENTIALITY AND CLASSIFIED MATERIALS
3.1 In the course of the rendition of services, the Enlisted is likely to become exposed to information of strategic importance (including but not limited to maps, mission briefings, internal procedural documentation, details of products, prices, and seasonal discounts). The Enlister and Enlisted agree that any and all privileged information (collectively "CLASSIFIED MATERIALS") viewed by the Enlisted (i) shall be maintained in the strictest secrecy by the Enlisted, with all reasonable efforts made to avoid the transfer, leakage, dissemination, publication, conveyance, and/or seepage of Classified Materials, and (ii) shall be provided in formats which are traceable to the Enlisted in the event of transfer, leakage, dissemination, publication, conveyance, and/or seepage. The Enlisted agrees to return any and all data, documents, directories, manuals, maps, and notes pertaining to âCLASSIFIED MATERIALSâ upon (i) termination of this contract, (ii) request by the Enlister.
3.2 Any information made known to the Enlisted outside of operational parameters which is not considered customarily known to the general citizenry and/or which was not known to the Enlisted prior to the commencement of this agreement shall, for the purposes of clarity, be considered "CONTROLLED CLASSIFIED MATERIALS". For the access of "CONTROLLED CLASSIFIED MATERIALS" explicit, advance written consent must be obtained by the Enlisted.
3.3 To read these terms and conditions in full shall be considered a breach of Clause 3.2.
4 INDEMNIFICATION
4.1 Unless otherwise stated, the Enlisted shall be solely and exclusively responsible for any and all damages, harm, liability, loss, costs, expenses, craters, atrocities, and crimes (civil, uncivil, war) caused, created, or generated during the course of the rendition of services. The Enlisted hereby indemnifies (i) The Enlister, and (ii) the Authorized Command Structure, including but not limited to any employees, representatives, heirs, and successors against any costs, challenges, losses, damages, or expenses (without limitation) arising from or relating in any way to the rendition of services by the Enlisted.
4.2 Any damage sustained by the Enlisted, whether reputational or corporeal (including but not limited to incineration, evisceration, spinal separation, vaporization, crushing, freezing, burning, decapitation, paper cuts, explosion, contusion, removal of arms and/or limbs, addition of arms and/or limbs, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath and/or death) shall not be considered the responsibility of the Enlister.
4.3 The Enlisted shall not hold the Enlister in whole or in part responsible for whether they return in whole or in part.
5 TERMINATION
This agreement will be governed by the laws of Super Earth, and shall be terminated in the event that:
(i) The Enlisted is mortally wounded, such that medical attention shall not be physically or financially justifiable.
(ii) The Enlisted expresses seditious, dangerous, or Traitorous thoughts, opinions, actions or sentiments.
(iii) By the Enlister, for any reason. Notice of the cause for termination is not required. The provisions of sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 shall survive termination.

1942 04 Samoa, Curtiss SBC-4 Helldiver VMO-151 - Don Greer
VMO-151 would soon be deployed to Samoa in the South Pacific on April 7, 1942, along with VMF-111, a Grumman F4F Wildcat squadron, amid fears that the Japanese would strike and potentially occupy several islands including Midway, Johnston Island, Palmyra, Samoa and Fiji. Men, material and particularly aircraft were sent from all services to each of these areas as quickly as possible. The Marines found themselves on Tutuila, the largest island in the Samoan archipelago, where conditions were primitive at best. Mosquitos, humidity, and oppressive heat were their constant companions. They flew daily anti-submarine patrols, and an alert crew of six pilots and six gunners were on standby from dawn to dusk. Maintenance of the SBC-4âs was a problem, so much so that some of the patrols were flown in one of a handful of Grumman JRF-5 Ducks that had also been sent to Samoa. In the event of Japanese attack, VMO-151âs operational plan consisted of striking the enemy force as far out as possible, entailing a one-way mission in which they expected to run out of fuel over the ocean en route back to Tutuila. Once they ditched, the plan called for the commanding generalâs PBY to land on the water to pick them up, then take off again mid-ocean. One of the Marine aviators on Samoa, Colonel John B. Berteling, recalled, âIt certainly was not the sort of plan that inspired confidence in our survival.â VMO-151 would remain on Samoa until early 1943, when they were finally re-equipped with Douglas SBDâs.Samoa would be the final front-line service of the SBC-4. The U.S. Marine Corps would not phase it out of service completely until a full year after the Navy had retired the type. Like many other combat aircraft at the beginning of Americaâs war, it was pressed into service and stood in harmâs way until more modern aircraft were widely available.

Theirs something brought to my attention about Helldivers that I donât think many thought of but the Warhammer Fans pulled through again with the comparisons. For a bit of back story let me explain to you the most valuable Cannon Fodder that exists within Warhammer 40k. Everyone thinks of Space Marines when they think of Warhammer but theyâre actually rare on a battlefield with most wars being preformed by their normal army, typically known as The Imperial Guard. Within the Guard is a Corp (or as they call themselves the Korps) Called the Death Korps of Krieg, or Kriegsman for Short. Long backstory made short theyâre a group of Loyalistic Fanatics that were in Civil war for so long the planet turned into a nuclear wasteland and resorted to nothing but Trench Warfare. The winners surprised the Imperium by not only returning to the Imperium but already having a large contingent of Soldiers ready to enlist in the Imperial Army. Keep in mind that the Empire wrote them off as dead centuries ago and just abandoned the planet.
The Kriegsman are notable for the fact they do not fear death and instead embrace Death. Theyâve been raised since birth to treat their own lives as expendable just to win a Centuries Long Civil War and that every death was worth it for just a few inches of land. Whenever a War Front gets too perilous and turns into a Meat Grinder the Empire says âSend in the Kriegsmanâ theyâre thrown into hellish fights almost exclusively because theyâre borderline suicidal and will do anything to complete a mission even if it means climbing on the bodies of their fallen comrades.
Helldivers are Kriegsman. They consist of the most Fanatic Among enlisted soldiers. Helldivers arenât thrown in to win wars. In fact youâre not expected to survive your mission. Your thrown deep into enemy lines with no other support but your Fellow Helldivers, you Sabotage, Distract, Destroy Points of Interest and evacuate priority targets. Even if you die itâll be considered a successful mission if you complete your goals. Youâre Cannon Fodder given the illusion of being the best Super Earth has. Youâre just there to jam the gears while the real fight takes down the enemy forces. You surviving is just a happy accident and you get to be more experienced Cannon Fodder for the next fight.

I hate how the enemy subfactions in Helldivers 2 are so fun and challenging to fight against, but theyâre always available for only a limited amount of time. Were you busy with life when the predator strain or incinerator corps are attacking planets? Tough shit I guess. Theyâre gone for weeks now.
Arrowhead should just have them available to be fought at all times. Fuck FOMO. The galactic war narrative is a cool idea, but it has some major downsides. âThat cool thing is gone now because of story reasons.â

Phil Spencer has spent like a decade buying game studios and then immediately locking all their new games in the Microsoft ecosystem, even going so far as to make fan-favorite Bethesdaâs games Xbox exclusives, and that isnât really working out (Microsoft is not capable of creating quality games because mega corps are soulless and Phil Spencer, specifically, is a ghoul). Suddenly, here comes Helldivers 2 making literally barge loads of money and he starts whining that it doesnât âhelp gamers.â
Dude fuck off. Youâre just trying to backpedal because it just isnât working for you. Game Pass canât be that profitable if youâre considering shopping games to PlayStation. Plus, all the layoffs are really telling.
Anyways, CEOs suck shit.

Helldivers 2: More backstories implied by armor sets

STANDARD BLACK AND YELLOW
Two possible origins, thanks to Super-Earths use of cryogenics:
You are a veteran of the first galactic war and were a meat popsicle during super-earth's century of peace and prosperity. You've been freshly unthawed to fight in the newest war and are slightly confused by everything.
OR
You were born during the century of peace on one of super-earth's many colony worlds and signed up to become a helldiver. You have a special connections to a world within the federation. Interplanetary warfare is still kind of a crazy concept to you.

TRAILBLAZER SCOUT
Super-Earth High Command wanted to save a lot of resources by preventing war across the frontier worlds. So they authorized training and arming of an elite corp of assassins to operate all over the federation. Publically they called them The Trailblazers and depicted them in mass media as shadowy guardians against new mysterious threats to helpless colonists. In reality, these assassins would take out key dissident figures on newly settled worlds before they could organize an uprising. You were one of the trailblazers and together you all did a great job preventing a human interplanetary rebellion. As a "reward" you are now being conscripted into the war effort against non-human forces. {needs re-write do not submit until then -ed.}

COMBAT TECHNICIAN
Unfortunately, you were born with or acquired a number of minor physical disabilities. Fortunately, you were born within the super-earth federation where no citizen is useless, no matter how low their citizenship score is! That's thanks to powered exoskeletons like the one above that allows anyone to become useful! You're wearing a mass produced industrial model of exoskeleton that was adapted for combat operations. As a result it's not really good for actions that require a delicate touch.

BREAKER
You are a folksy, handicraft kind of person with no sense of fashion. Or rather you used to be, before the war came and ruined everything. Your sense of fashion still hasn't changed, although you like to tinker in your super-destroyer's engineering bay alongside the deckhands. You're not supposed to, but your democracy officers been really cool about your off-duty, out-of-cryopod hobbies.

ENFORCER
You worked in a very stressful job working VIP security for bureaucrats in the various federation ministries. Thankfully this armor set was very comfortable to wear as you stood menacingly for long periods of time. You weren't initially allowed to transfer your armor set from your old job in security to your new job as a helldiver. But then you earned enough super-credits to buy it and now you are re-united with your beloved armor.

PHYSICIAN
You used to work on the interstellar aid ships that would go to colonies in need. Xenopathogen plagues, massive industrial accidents, and cosmic disasters, you thought you had seen it all. Then The War Came. Maybe your ship was shot down by Automatons, or the colonists you were treating were attacked by Terminids. One way or another you ended up on the front lines of the war. You haven't had to use your extensive knowledge of the human anatomy to kill anyone, yet. This armor set was originally designed to protect doctors from dangers previously mentioned, and it continues to serve you, faithfully.

Vix HD2 OC Lore blurb
Character Profile: Vix
Name: Vix
Alias: FireFox
Age: 24
Pronouns: She/Her
Occupation: Super Earth Medical Corps (Former)
Rank: Chief [Fire Safety Officer)
Race: Human* (approximately 90% human and 10% Terminid)
Height: 5â7
Weight: 200 lbs.
Appearance: (see attached) Additional notes, her neck and right thigh have very heavy scarring from prolonged aggressive stim usage. Also their hands seem to have developed a thin layer of chitin resembling that related to Terminids. Lastly on her right shoulder the fire safety officer emblem is stamped. Sheâs got some extra weight compared to most helldivers due to her time she was forced to take off thanks to her DO.Â
Equipment: - SG-451
- Either the CQC-30 Stun Baton or P-72
- G-4 Gas Grenade
- Bonesnapper Armor
- Modified Physician Helmet (modified with a small bio scanner)
Skills: Very skilled with a scalpel and stim, as her medical specialty was surgery.Â
Personality: Grumpy on the outside, soft on the inside. Has become a bit callous after what happened on Malevelon Creek, and then Miridia. She has an unfortunate tendency to speak her mind without thinking, in the best or worst scenarios.Â
History:
Vix was born and raised on Meridia and chose to work hard on the farm before enrolling in medical school. Enlisted only months before the attack on the Creek. The battle went so poorly with her squadmates that she hasnât seen two of them since. She kept fighting though doing her best to keep her fellow squadmates from dying in the field. During her time in the Corps she was often found testing stims on herself to test their effectiveness. One day she got in a heated argument with [redacted] who was working on an Anti-Terminid compound, at some point in the argument the compound was smashed on her chest and she was taken to a medical center. A few weeks later she received an honorable discharge from the Corps and began spending a lot of time fighting the Terminids. She got her Fire Safety Officer certification a few months before her DO forced her to take time off from diving. And now sheâs here.

MAJOR ORDER:
The Helldivers stood their ground valiantly against the spread of insectile Fascism, and as a result, the construction of the Penrose Energy Siphon has been enabled. Massive E-710-powered rockets are now being assembled for launch into the ergosphere of the Meridian Singularity to halt its momentum.
Alas, focus must now be split, as Automaton forces have landed on multiple planets in what appears to be a coordinated, large-scale, craven assault. The forces are led by a series of new Automaton units wielding incendiary weapons. This unit has been termed the Incineration Corps.

However, the Penrose Energy Siphon, which would significantly slow the Singularity's advance, is nearly ready for activation. Every lost day could make the difference between the preservation or destruction of another planet.
High Command delegates to the Helldivers this choice: hold off the Automaton assault, or effect the immediate activation of the Penrose Energy Siphon.
