elaborate on the motherhood

regarding motherhood and p3? Sure. I’ll use minato as a name, typing hero for too long gets annoying. general p3 spoilers as we continue.

first, we’ll seperate motherhood into two concepts. childbirth and maternal presence. childbirth is the process of becoming a mother. maternal presence is the aftermath. sometimes both can fit under the word, sometimes only one exists. it’s interchangeable. keep this in mind.

let’s skip to our awakening. to my knowledge, every persona awakening so far has only resulted in one being summoned. this is an unspoken rule of the world, so when minato presses the evoker to his head and calls to orpheus, things seem relatively regular.

until, minato starts to scream.

something is inside orpheus. and it wants out. the embodiment of minatos soul twists and contorts to fit this Thing inside of him. and then, it rips out, tearing orpheus to pieces.

orpheus’s head lurches back in a screaming position as the rebirth of death occurs.

“birth” isn’t just a means of granting life. it weighs heavily on the mother, irreversibly changing her entire body structure. you can never be the same after giving birth, you tear upon a wound that cannot be stitched together. birth is painful and life altering.

but, surely this is ridiculous. childbirth, seriously? there’s something missing here. the child in childbirth? where is the child? that thing is a strange and terrifying monster, where on earth is the-

oh, right. hello pharos. he arrived along with this being. it probably means nothing. they’re totally not the same fucking guy.

afterwards, minato passes out from exhaustion, and takes a long while to recover whilst in the hospital. for minato, carrying death was painful and life altering. since now, he can never be the same.

(this is personal input, but due to the mature appearance of mituru’s persona despite being 8 years old at the time during summoning, i think it was subconsciously filling in the lack of maternal presence. again, personal interpretation.)

moving on. we first meet minato, yukari, mitsuru, junpei and akihiko. minato had a mother, but she was slaughtered in an accident. yukari has a mother, but complications exist between them. mitsuru and junpeis mothers also seem to be out of the picture. i presume they’re dead, but i could be wrong. akihiko’s adopted, and his current ‘mother’ doesn’t seem very relevant in his life. either way, they’re all clearly lacking parental supervision in the dorms.

after speaking to the chairman (the only present adult currently) minato is now part of a group fighting against shadows, referred to as SEES. in other words, you’re a child soldier now. congrats! usually children with more stable support systems and family dynamics would be less vulnerable to such things. maybe if minato had a mother, she should see through the chairman’s lies. maybe he would’ve been protected. but he doesn’t. but he does now have a child that now visits him every full moon. maybe with enough love, pharos could grow to be unlike minato.

we are further introduced to other members of SEES. fuuka. her home-life exists behind closed doors, and she can’t wait to be rid of it. she does not speak of her mother, and that says enough about her. aigis. she was created by scientists. ken, a presumably bastard child with a single mother. he was orphaned after she was killed in an accident. and shinjiro is another orphan. Mother’s Day must be a blast for this mob.

the first death of the series to due to maternal presence. well, more like a lack of it. after shinjiro killed his mother, ken has been left alone. suicidal in primary school. poor thing. he would be happier if she was still here. he devises a plan to avenge her. in the end, shinjiro dies. but he is instead killed by strega.

strega is in a similar boat to SEES. if they had mothers, perhaps they could’ve been spared from this mess. instead they were experimented on, and implanted with beings that destroy them from the inside. hm. sounds familiar.

time passes. shadows of the arcana are defeated as something else grows. tartarus is described as a nest of shadows. it’s like an anthill. but we are yet to the see the mother, the queen. pharos leaves, says he’s remembered what he has to do.

we are then introduced to ryoji.

ryoji. he’s a masculine ladies man. bit odd at times, but well adjusted. sweet thing that seems to be made with pure love. a glaring contrast to the current state of SEES. but let’s not kid ourselves here. we know what ryoji really is. but he doesn’t.

death is a constant throughout the narrative. you can sort it into two categories. the death of a loved one and Death. the Death that Tartarus is built to host, the Death is the part of the moon, the Death that tore apart orpheus, the Death holding the contract. The Death extracted from Nyx.

Death calls himself ryoji mochizuki. and she is the avatar for the maternal being.

Nyx, the planet eater. referred to by feminine terms since a deity that caused creation of humanity and all cognitive beings can’t be masculine. men cant be mothers. according to the scientists, at least.

either way, this Death that has plagued the narrative has a label. and she is introduced as a mother. it’s contradictory combination. so far, hasn’t this discussion surrounded motherhood being the giver of life? but, persona 3 is about living as much as it is about dying. if you to say to live is to die, wouldn’t you say the same about birth? to be born is to die. you come from Her, and you will return to Her.

ryoji wears a scarf. it’s often joked to be random, but i think it’s supposed to look like a nuchal cord. for those unaware, a nuchal cord is when the umbilical cord wraps itself around the babies neck during pregnancy. although rare, it can result in strangulation. i think this is meant represent the only way he can be killed. which is by the being that created him.

the fact ryoji can only be killed by minato speaks for itself. minato had a entity that placed inside him as a child, and that thing will kill everything on this earth. Death ruined his entire life, placed a limit on his lifespan. Death is a parasite that makes him weaker by the day. nonetheless, minato holds no ill will to Death. so he spares him.

the final boss battle. the final cry. we meet ryoji, or what’s become of him. or her. you cant really tell anymore.

one unspoken point ive held though this entire post is pregnancy is a form of body horror. motherhood is a form of body horror. it can still be a beautiful and nurturing thing, but it all falls down to what you make of it. sometimes it is a role you do not want.

ryojis body is contorted and twisted into something barely recognisable. nyx avatar is primarily referred to as a she. although, she still has a flat chest and a deep voice. we see a character that was introduced to us as a child, now be fully ‘grown’ and now called Mother.

the inside the moon, you’re met with a being labelled as pure “Death”

to match the avatars avian appearance, the final fight of this game is between minato and an egg. it’s a perfect final form. i don’t have to explain to you what an egg means at this point, it’s the representation of birth of all life.

i could end it there, with the primordial mother of all life and death herself being presented by an egg. but i still have some things to about minato. as i keep repeatedly stating, by holding death minato was forever changed. and finally by the end of the game, he dies.

and he becomes a massive door at the ends of the universe, with six massive eyes. again, he will never be the same. if he had never created Death, if he had never held Death inside him, he would’ve lived. but in the end, like a loving mother (and The Universe, now protecting the world that nyx created), i don’t think he regrets a thing.

Blue Lions meeting the P3 Protagonists ===============================

Byleth walked through the crowded hallways of Garreg Mach Monastery, accompanied by the two mysterious visitors that appeared during the bandit attack.

One was a blue haired boy, both hands in his pocket as he emotionlessly glanced around, ignoring the gaze of the students.

The one beside him was a brown haired girl with a ponytail, who in contrast seemed far more enthusiastic about meeting everyone, waving hello to some of the students.

(Minako) "Come on, you can at least smile a little! We're representing Gekkoukan after all."

Minato rolled his eyes and coldly replied.

(Minato) "Junpei is already ruining our reputation for us back at the entrance. No need for me to do anything."

Minako sighed and looked at her new teacher with a wry smile.

(Minako) "Sorry, this is probably not a good introduction, is it?"

Byleth shrugged, turning to face the both of them. His expression was not too dissimilar from Minato's.

(Byleth) "Honestly, I don't really know how to approach this better than you all. I'm a mercenary."

Minako put a finger to her chin as her brows furrowed.

(Minako) "Hm...Think we should have gotten Mitsuru-senpai to take care of the talking for us?"

(Minato) "Probably."

Minako shrugged shortly after thinking about the situation, her smile quickly coming back.

(Minako) "Well, too late for regrets now!...Actually, where are we going?"

(Byleth) "We're heading towards the...Blue Lions classroom I believe. Dimitri said he wanted to thank you two personally, I have to go to meet with some other people, but I'll check back with you all later."

After departing with Byleth, the siblings entered through a large double door and saw Dimitri surrounded by seven unfamiliar faces.

Dimitri gave them a nod of acknowledgement as the group scattered to make room.

(Dimitri) "I take it your group is getting accustomed to Garreg Mach?"

Minako smiled in response, first looking at everyone's expression and taking note of them before giving an answer. Minato meanwhile kept his stoic look and let his sister do the speaking.

(Minako) "Psh, not in the slightest! We've never seen anything like this back in our world."

An orange haired girl spoke up.

(Annette) "Another world? Wow, so the rumors weren't kidding! That'd certainly explain the weird looking clothes."

A larger dark skinned man standing next to Dimitri followed up her comment with a respectful bow.

(Dedue) "Where your group comes from is irrelevant, we all owe you a debt of gratitude for saving his highness."

Minato nodded back.

(Minato) "Of course. And thanks for giving our friends a place to stay."

(Sylvain) "Jeez, that guy's a little intense. Doesn't he remind you of a certain someone?"

Sylvain elbowed Felix, who gave an annoyed glare back.

(Felix) "Shut up already. They can hear you, you know."

(Minako) "Eh, don't worry about my baby brother here! He's usually like this."

(Mercedes) "Oh, you two are siblings? I wouldn't have guessed!"

Minato replied in an emotionless tone, though it did not carry any hint of malice in it.

(Minato) "We get that a lot."

(Ingrid) "If there's anything you guys need help with, feel free to reach out! My name's Ingrid, by the way."

Everyone took a moment to introduce themselves.

(Ashe) "I really look forward to getting to you know you all!"

Minako gave him a warm smile back.

(Minako) "Me too! And though he may not look like it, this one is too!"

(Minato) "Hm."

The siblings departed the Blue Lions to find their own group, leaving them to converse amongst themselves.

(Dimitri) "They appear to be...a unique bunch."

(Annette) "Minako seems really nice! Though, I couldn't really get a read on her brother."

(Ingrid) "It probably won't take long for Sylvain to piss him off."

(Sylvain) "Hey, why are you making it sound like he will get angry at me? We could be best buds!"

(Felix) "Is that right? Well, I'm not holding my breath."

(Mercedes) "This is going to be a fun year with them around, that's for sure!"

(Ashe) "Probably super chaotic too. I wonder what the rest of their group is like."

(Dedue) "If they are anything like us, Ashe, I'm sure it won't take them long to adjust."

=============================== Sylvain talking to Aigis ===============================

Aigis appeared to be standing still near the greenhouse, quietly examining the plants.

She had been that way for nearly an hour before she was approached by Sylvain.

(Sylvain) "Hey there, Aigis! Whatcha doin' here?"

Her head stiffly turned to face Sylvain and gave a single nod, her face remaining unchanged.

(Aigis) "I am observing the plants in your world. They appear to be very similar to our own, but differ in properties and how they are utilized."

Sylvain tilted his head curiously, turning to look at the plants with a look of genuine curiousity.

(Sylvain) "Huh. I never really thought about that kind of thing before, but it must be crazy for you to see plants be made into healing potions."

(Aigis) "Negative. Plants were used by humans for medicinal purposes, ranging back thousands of years. But the potency of your flora appear to be far stronger than the ones found on Earth."

Her answer confused him, making him shake his head and remember why he was there to begin with.

(Sylvain) "...Okaaay, kinda lost me there. But, if you're wanting to see other things that are different, how about going out into town with me?"

(Aigis) "Are you asking me out on what they refer to as a 'date'?"

Sylvain chuckled at her question.

(Sylvain) "If you wanna call it that, then sure-!"

(Aigis) "The answer is no."

(Sylvain) "Wha- why not?!"

(Aigis) "Minato-san has specifically warned me to not go on any dates. Especially with you, Sylvain."

Though her tone was completely static, he could gleam a bit of malice in the response.

(Sylvain) "Okay listen, whatever he told you about me is not true!"

(Aigis) "He has not told me anything."

(Sylvain) "Then who did?"

Aigis paused for a moment before resuming.

(Aigis) "...The list is as follows: Ingrid, Felix, Dimitri, Dorothea, Yukari, Junpei, Mitsuru, Minako, Byleth-"

(Sylvain) "Alright alright, I got the message across! But surely you must be curious about going outside the Monastery for at least a few hours? I can be a tour guide at least!"

Aigis paused once again.

(Aigis) "...I comprehend. If this is not a date, then I do not have a problem with this request."

(Sylvain) "G-Great! See you in half an hour?"

(Aigis) "Affirmative. I also have an order I am obliged to follow, given by Minato and Minako in regards to you."

Sylvain wasn't even sure he wanted to know what it was.

(Sylvain) "And that is...?"

(Aigis) "I am authorized to use force if pressured onto a date."

(Sylvain) "F-Force?! Now hang on just a-"

(Aigis) "Commencing preparations. Please meet me by the entrance in half an hour."

Aigis walked away, leaving Sylvain standing by himself with an open jaw.

(Sylvain) "What the heck is with her?!"

Dimitri walked into the dormitories where the S.E.E.S members had taken up residence during their stay at Garreg Mach.

At the moment it was just Minato sitting on the couch with a strange device on his ears, and Minako reading a book from the library.

Minako looked up from her book and waved to Dimitri.

(Minako) "Hey, Dimitri! Surprised to see you here!"

Minato noticed Minako moving and grabbed the right side of his device and lifted it off. Dimitri could hear words coming out of it.

"Hey, hey, hey" Fueling the fire with the burning desire-

(Minato) "Hey."

(Dimitri) "Are those words coming out of that earmuff?"

(Minako) "Oh, that's right! I forget you guys don't know what headphones are!"

Minato raised an eyebrow at his sister.

(Minato) "We've been in a medieval world this entire time, and you forgot that it doesn't have technology like ours?"

(Minako) "Hush you! Anyways, that's a small...thingy that can play music, in short. Now whatcha need?"

Dimitri cleared his throat after focusing away from Minato's headphones.

(Dimitri) "Truthfully, I was curious to see what you all got up to in your free time. You seemed to have adjusted to the school life well, but I was wanting to make sure you could do so in your free time."

Minato shrugged nonchalantly.

(Minato) "We're managing, surprisingly."

(Minako) "Yeah, who knew that hanging out with a buncha people our age who can cast fireballs would seem so normal!"

(Dimitri) "That's another thing I wanted to ask. Your group seems well versed in combat already. What exactly is your home like?"

(Minako) "Weeeeeelll-"

Her voice trailed off, waving one hand dismissively.

(Minako) "Just self defense is all! We have to deal with vagrants in our world too."

(Dimitri) "Is...that right?"

(Minato) "You're a worse liar than Ashe-"

Minako immediately pointed at her little brother.

(Minako) "YOU! YOUR FACE, SHUT!"

That made Dimitri laugh.

(Dimitri) "I apologize, I did not mean to pry. I am just impressed more than anything."

(Minato) "Relatedly...Today's the first full moon here at Garreg Mach, right?"

Dimitri noticed how both their expressions suddenly became serious.

(Dimitri) "Y-Yes it is. It also means it's nearly been a month since you all first came here. Is the moon significant in your world?"

Minato sat up from the couch and put his hands into his pocket.

(Minato) "Very."

Minato began walking away from the group before giving Dimitri one last look.

(Minato) "You might get your answer sooner than you think."

As he exited the dorm, he turned to Minako.

(Dimitri) "Did I say something wrong?"

(Minako) "Oh, don't mind him. He's usually that much of a jackass...But he's not wrong...Say, how about we spar near midnight, Dimitri?"

=============================== Byleth and Sothis meeting Elizabeth ===============================

Byleth woke up in his bed, rubbing his eye before noticing Sothis was trying to shake him awake.

(Sothis) "Finally! Do you know how long I've been trying to- Know what? Forget it, that doesn't matter! There's something here!"

(Byleth) "Something here? What are you-"

He paused when he noticed there was a blue glow coming from outside the door to his room.

Byleth immediately grabbed his sword and nearly kicked down the door with Sothis floating behind him.

Only to see another door in front of him, glowing blue and with an energy he could not place the feeling of.

(Byleth) "That wasn't here yesterday."

(Sothis) "Your keen senses of observation never ceases to amaze me, child."

Byleth made no comment as he slowly circled around the door. There was nothing it led to, even on the other side.

Byleth saw a group of students walk past the door, giving him an odd look but saying hello, not even acknowledging the door's presence.

(Sothis) "The door feels...strangely familiar."

(Byleth) "Should we go inside it?"

The two exchanged a glance before slowly opening the door and entering it.

...

Inside sat Sothis's throne, now bathed in a ghastly blue aura, a table sitting in front of it, but most notable of all was the fact a woman was standing inside, alone.

(Sothis) "M-My throne!"

The woman turned towards her visitors and politely bowed.

She had blonde hair and a strange blue attire, adorned with a small hat that rested on her head.

While everything about her seemed to be human, the way she portrayed herself and everything surrounding her was anything but.

(???) "Welcome, to the Velvet Room."

(Sothis) "Velvet Room? This is MY room!"

(???) "...Ah, so it is! I was wondering why it was so empty. I hope you do not mind that I have taken up residence here, you have my sincerest apologies!"

Byleth reached for his sword, but suddenly realized it was gone. Deciding to question instead of fight, he simply asked:

(Byleth) "Who are you?"

The woman smiled at the question and bowed once again.

(Elizabeth) "My name is Elizabeth, it is a pleasure to be your acquaintance! I am the attendee to the two under your care."

It took a moment for them to realize who she was talking about.

(Byleth) "Minato and Minako?"

Suddenly, things made sense. Everytime Sothis appeared to talk to him, they appeared to be aware of her, despite the fact no one else in their group could.

They already weren't normal, but this further solidified that something else was at play here.

(Elizabeth) "The Arisato siblings, yes! Well, truth be told my brother is supposed to be here, but alas he is nowhere to be found. But I am more than enough to serve their purpose."

(Sothis) "What do you provide that requires taking over my home?"

(Byleth) "That's in my head, no less..."

(Elizabeth) "I provide them with the fusing of Personas for their journey. Nothing more, and nothing less! For we can only assist, never directly intervene.

Elizabeth put a finger to her chin, thinking about what to say next.

(Elizabeth) "As for the occupation, it seemed this was the only place I could manifest myself that could easily reach you as well. Your fates are all intertwined, after all!"

Sothis sighed and crossed her arms, floating over to Elizabeth.

(Sothis) "You couldn't ask?"

(Elizabeth) "I tried, multiple times. But I believe you were asleep everytime I attempted, and eventually found this empty room, save the throne."

(Byleth) "...That one is more of your fault than anything-"

(Sothis) "Be quiet."

(Elizabeth) "I look forward to getting to know you two as well."

(Byleth) "Well, I'm Byleth, and that's Sothis. I guess we'll get to know you too."

Suddenly, the door opened behind them.

(Minako) "I guess it makes sense for the Velvet room to- OHMYGOD!-"

Minako leapt back in fear while Minato only flinched.

(Minako) "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

(Minato) "It's that floating green thing again too-"

(Sothis) "EXCUSE ME?!"

=============================== Blue Lions Reacting to Personas ===============================

(Dimitri) "EVERYONE, TO THE CATHEDRAL!"

The Blue Lions and Byleth dashed across the bridge leading to Garreg Mach's cathedral, bathed in the ominous light of a full moon.

The previously calm black skies had darkened to a sickly pale green glow while being chased by monsters.

While they could kill a few of them, there were too many of them to deal with. And under the moonlight they appeared to be getting stronger.

Ashe, Mercedes, and Annette attempted to hold back the monsters with spells and arrows, but if they stood their ground they would have been overwhelmed.

Instead, Dimitri, Dedue, Felix, and Byleth held the ones in pursuit off while Ingrid and Sylvain tried to find a way inside.

(Sylvain) "Damn it, it's stuck!"

(Ingrid) "Then we gotta kick the door down!-"

Before she could attempt to do so, the ground they were standing on quickly darkened, making everyone look up.

A massive blob-like monster slithered down the walls, with too many arms to count protruding out of it, all wielding swords.

(Annette) "B-BEHIND US!"

Everyone turned around and gained distance as the monster crashed onto the concrete, sending bricks flying into the air at violent speeds.

The Blue Lions had been pincered by these creatures.

(Mercedes) "I-Is this the work of the same people that attacked the burial site?!"

(Dedue) "I am unsure if even they are capable of doing this! The people I had been speaking to suddenly turned into coffins!"

(Byleth) "Here's the plan, when I count to three, we break through these monsters coming from the bridge and make a run-"

Before he could finish his sentence, they all heard someone speaking to them.

(Fuuka's Voice) "Thank goodness, you all are still okay! Can you hear me?!"

(Felix) "Is that...Fuuka?!"

(Ashe) "Is she in danger too?! How can we hear-"

(Fuuka's Voice) "Everyone needs to get back to a safe distance from the Shadows on the bridge, right now!"

Without warning, the shadows suddenly burst into a black mist from what appeared to be an ice spell.

Mitsuru, Akihiko, Ken, Shinji, Aigis, and even their dog, Koromaru, were standing from the entrance, all wielding weapons.

(Mitsuru) "Everyone, escape to us, we'll keep you safe!"

Before anyone could react, Minato, Minako, Junpei, and Yukari ran in front of them, all wielding strange devices in their hands with red armbands.

(Dimitri) "Wait, that thing is too dangerous for you to-!"

Minako turned to them with a smirk, giving them a thumbs up and cutting Dimitri off.

(Minako) "Don't worry. Bandits and cultists are your guys things, Shadows are ours!"

(Junpei) "Hell yeah, time for us to finally shine!"

(Yukari) "Please focus, you two!"

(Minato) "You wanted to see where we got our combat skills from, right Dimitri? Here's your answer."

Everyone watched with confusion as they pointed strange devices to all their heads.

(Minato/Minako, Junpei, and Yukari)

"ORPHEUS!" "HERMES!" "IO!"

The monster seemed to recoil in surprise once the four pulled the trigger, summoning monsters of their own, igniting the area around them in a bright blue flame.

They rushed the monster with their weapons raised, joined by their ghastly summons and seemed to attack with near perfect synchronization.

Looking back at the bridge, the rest of them appeared to be doing the same and wiping out the smaller monsters with ease.

(Shinji) "The hell are you doing standing still, get a damn move on!"

(Byleth) "You heard them, MOVE IT!"

The Blue Lions did as commanded, running from the fight, though most of them couldn't tear their eyes off from what they were seeing.

(Sylvain) "Holy hell, they're tearing those things apart! What even are they?!"

(Felix) "Tch, no wonder they always seemed like they were holding back, it's because they were!"

(Annette) "Are those made from magic?!"

(Mercedes) "They look more like ghosts to me!"

(Ashe) "I-I hope they're not, but I'm glad they're on our side!"

(Ingrid) "Think they can teach us how to do that too?"

(Dedue) "I do not think we should be asking questions like these right now!"

(Dimitri) "Agreed, we need to find somewhere safe!"

(Byleth) What kind of place is their world where fighting monsters like these is normal for them?!

...

(Elizabeth) "Hah, I knew they'd have no problem."

Sothis watched the ongoing fight with her jaw opened wide, not believing what was happening.

...

Once the Full Moon Shadow was dispatched of, the members of S.E.E.S moved to find the Blue Lions.

(Fuuka) "Good work everyone, the rest of the shadows are disappearing en masse."

(Mitsuru) "Operation complete, though I cannot say I feel particularly great after this victory."

(Ken) "I can't believe the Dark Hour followed us here..."

(Koromaru) "Woof!"

(Aigis) "Koromaru agrees."

(Minato) "Makes sense something would be up if we could still use our evokers here, even outside the Dark Hour."

(Yukari) "I can't help but feel responsible. We brought the Dark Hour to a place that didn't even have to deal with it..."

(Junpei) "Saving one world was already great, but maybe we'll get the credit for two?"

(Shinji) "Tch, what a pain in the ass."

(Akihiko) "Suppose we just need to keep in mind of the moon here too, on top of all the other things to worry about."

Hello hello... thank you for these... easy questions 😅 I really needed to think about the second one.

But let me start with 5 characters I disliked/hated in 2023. There were a few that I hated, but where I loved that fact (Hi Boston 💚) and then there were those characters I just couldn't stand.

Beginning the list let me introduce to you the one drunkhead I wish I could punch in his alcohol filled mouth...

Han Ji Yu from All The Liquors

It is the fact that he glorifies alcohol to a really unhealthy amount and the fact that this whole series tried to let us believe, not linking alcohol is something inappropriate just blew my mind. The writing for this series and this character was just not good at all in my opinion.

And of we go to the biggest let down for me this year:

Minato Akira from Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2

I liked him so much in the first season. I adored his awkwardness around Shin and his journey to finally accept his own and Shin's feelings. And the second season took this development away from us and from Minato. He got stuck in denial and being over-emotional. He became unlovable and really annoying. The writers took away his charme and I really couldn't see anymore why Shin loves this man so much. I would have been so fucking frustrated with him after a few weeks. It wasn't quirky or cute. I really couldn't stand him.

And next in line:

Mew from Only Friends

In the beginning, I thought okay, he is inexperienced, but he has his standards. He is a little naiv, but I can like him... yeah... nope. Since he started dating Ray to hurt Top and became a total fuck towards Boston, he lost all his credits with me. I get he was heartbroken that one of his friends betrayed him in that way, but the way he thought only the worst of Boston and never apologized for believing he SAed little Atom is just a no from me. And the way he treated Top and Ray annoyed the fuck out of me. Can't stand him.

Uhkay... next is a character some might defend, but I thought he was just a total selfish asshole:

Lomfon from La Pluie

He might have a little redemption in the end, but too little, too late. He was a selfish prick. Yes, he thought he was in love with Saengtai, but he kissed him without his consent and just tried to interfere with the relationship between Saengtai and Phat. Okay, I really don't care about them that much, but he hurt Saengthian and this was one charcater I liked in this series and I will never forgive Lomfon for it!

At last there is this one character I wanted to scrape out their eyes....

Ye Wan Ying from Stay With Me

I don't have a good gif of her and I truely don't care. She was a manipulative bitch and I wish her the worst! She tried to play SuYu and WuBi off against each other and made WuBi jealous. I don't like when someone hurt my favorites! She was evil. I hate her!

Okay, so far with the first list, let's move on to my top 5 main couples I was indifferent to in 2023.

I start with the one couple that made me drop the whole show:

Suansoon and Ongsa from Absolute Zero

I really liked the first episode. I thought those two were cute together and I was rooting for them. And then the time travel happend and everything became a big mess. I lost interest in their relationship due to the fact that old Suansoon and young Ongsa became a thing and I lost my shit (not in a good way) about it. So I stopped watching it... and never regreted this decision.

On second place come

Joke and Zo from Hidden Agenda

I liked them in the beginning, but at some point in the story I just lost my interest. I don't know why, but they really didn't catch my interest. It was okayish to watch while it was airing, but I have to say, I can't really remember what exactly was happening with them. All I know is I thought the drama was unnecessary.

The next one really made me sad

Win and Team from Between Us

I loved them in Until We Meet Again. They were the best part of this series for me and I really was looking forward to this one. And then these two were...liveless. I don't know. I just couldn't get myself interested in their relationship. They felt so bland and without any surface. I can't really explain right now.

In number four we have

Johnny and HaiYi from HIStory 5

From the start I was a Vincent/Wynn-girl. The main couple was there, but I wouldn't have mind if they just vanished. Okay, in the end I couldn't care less about all of the couples, but those two were just not for me. I think they were boring and the drama was stupid. Time travel in bl really sucks most of the times!

And at last we have a couple I adored in the beginning and just lost interest over the runtime of the show:

Saengtai and Phat from La Pluie

I know this bl is loved my many and I can understand why (most of the times), but in the same way I sober up in seconds whenever a friend of mine is in need of help, I lost interest really fast in these two when the drama just annoyed me. Phat's jealousy, Lomfon's interference, Saengtai's secrecies and in the end Phat's anger and the way he was punching Lomfon, everything made me lose interest in them so fast! And to be honest, Phat became one of my most hated charcaters, when I think about it. I would have left him and never looked back after he punched Lomfon like that. I would never trust him again, that he won't hurt me, when we fight. Such a big red fucking flag for me. And yeah, just like that I lost interest in them.

Hello everyone. As everyone knows, it is pride month! To celebrate pride, I made a post on queer media you should check out. I hope you guys like it

Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!

This manga has a live-action movie and an anime adaptation. I personally only saw the movie and the anime. There are some differences, but both are good regardless. The anime got me in a chokehold, and I've been fixated on this for a few days now.

If you don't know about Cherry Magic! It is a story about Kiyoshi Adachi, a virgin who suddenly gains the power to read people's minds by touching them when he turns thirty. Through this power, he was able to recognize the feelings of his colleague, Yuuichi Kurosawa. Will he be able to return his feelings back or not? Watch it to find out hehehe. There is also Adachi's friend, Tsuge, who is also in a similar situation and finds Tsuge and Minato really cute together.

Overall, this was really good, and I keep rewatching over and over again.

The Owl House

Unlike Cherry Magic, this show focuses more on the lore than the romance in the show but it is good to point out that there are a lot of LGBTQ+ characters on The Owl House. The main character is canonically bisexual and there are other characters that are lesbian, pansexual, non-binary and etc. It is a phenomenal show and you should give it a watch!

If you have never heard of The Owl House, it is a show that focuses on Luz, a 14-year-old human discovering a whole new magical realm called the Boiling Isles and wishing to become a wizard. It is a show filled with beautiful storytelling and amazing world-building. Overall, it was an amazing show, and I can not explain how much this show means to me and how incredible this is.

Yuri on Ice!!!

This anime is not a BL but we can't deny that Yuri and Viktor are inlove with each other. (quick spoiler ahead!) THEY LITERALLY KISSED (Spoiler ends here DUXGUXGDH)

If you dont know about Yuri on Ice!!!, it is a series about Yuri Katsuki, a pro figure skater who was about to retire but meets Viktor and Yurio, who brings his back his love to compete in figure skating. I love this series. It gave me all the feels. It's such a good series, and you should check it out!

Heartstopper

Here is another piece of media that isn't animated. It is a live action series on Netflix based on the Webtoon with the same name. It follows Charlie and Nick and centers around their school life and young love.

I love Heartstopper soo much and it has a special place in my heart. I'm not the biggest fan of live action series or movies but this is one of the few exceptions. It is filled with wholesome moments and moments where you want to scream or want to cry. Overall, it is a good series to binge on and you should definitely give it a try.

Welcome to Kyoto! Following the reconciliation of father and son last episode, we take a page out of Fourze's screenplay and go on a class trip~! As Hotaro dreams for a future between humans and Chemies, for what reason does the Dark Sister Clotho become an uninvited guest?

Spoilers, I guess...

-Y'know, we surprisingly haven't seen all that much of Furasu High School itself.

-The time has come... for Kyoto!

-That seems to be the class trip location in shows like these. Kaguya-sama, Bloom Into You, Digimon Adventure 02, the sucky stealth minigame in Persona 3 that's somehow infinitely less terrible than any of the other hot spring sections... Think it was even in Cardcaptor Sakura too, incidentally.

-Big missed opportunity, by the way, to not have even a mild crossover between Fourze and Smile PreCure, which both had school trips to Kyoto at the same time.

-The furthest I've ever gone on a field trip was in 5th grade, when we went on a field trip to Tennessee to visit Ruby Falls. I've been there before with my mom, so it wasn't anything new, but it was still fun. Never had a full field trip again after that though.

Hello I noticed that you posted something about Tsurune I love that anime and I was wondering if you could write scenario where Masaki meets his brother's photographer friend who shows up to the boys tournaments and he starts developing a crush on them.

Even after all this time, and all the tournaments, Masaki still got nervous at the start of each one.

It seemed to be worse now that he wasn’t participating. The hopes and dreams of the students he coached feeling heavier than his own. His teachings effecting their dreams, but having no tangible way to alter the outcome from the sidelines. He tried to keep it inside though.

“Oy! Masaki!”

He turned at the sound of his name from a familiar voice. Seeing Ren waving as he walked up. Another person in toe. “Nii-san, what are you doing here?”

“I was in town for some reference work on a new book, so I thought I’d come and see the tournament. You told me about it over the phone, remember?” He vaguely remembered that. “Oh! This is [Y/N]-chan. They’re a photography journalist major at the university. They’re interning with the publisher, so I had them tag along.”

“Nice to meet you.” [Y/N] said with a small bow. “I hope this isn’t too much of a surprise, or disturbance.”

“Not at all.” Masaki assured. “It’s a public event. So all are welcome.”

“Masaki-chan is the coach. But he’s also a great kyudo archer too. And a great guy.”

“Nii-san!” Masaki hissed at Ren’s compliment, while he and his guest laughed it off.

“Well, I’m sure it will be great to watch. I wanted to take some pictures. For my portfolio. We won’t get in the way.”

Masaki nodded and his brother & friend went off to the sidelines for the rest of the tournament.

He didn’t talk to them for nearly the rest of the day. He’d catch sight of [Y/N] now & then. Behind the lens. Hunched down to get a better angle. It was very familiar to him from being around Ren, but he still smiled a little at seeing their passion.

After the tournament was over, Masaki came over to talk to [Y/N] and his brother again. The two already scrolling through the photos. “Did you get any good ones?”

“A few.” [Y/N] replied. Handing him the camera to scroll through himself.

It was only a few pictures in and he could see they were very talented. Very being a still image, there was still a lot of movement to the photos. An energy. A liveliness. He flipped through a few more before he came across a photo of himself. Looking pensive as he waited for Minato to release his bow.

“Sorry. I guess I should have asked if you were ok with your picture taken. I can delete it if you want.”

Maskai blinked and released the breath he was holding. Like he had been in the picture. He handed the camera back and told them, “no. It’s ok. You can keep it if you want.”

[Y/N] smiled. “I can send you a copy? Of the whole roll I mean. That way you guys have some nice pictures of your events. They’re not professional, but it’s a start.”

“Not professional yet.” Ren chided with a wink before he nudged [Y/N] playfully.

“I would like that.” Masaki agreed. Gladly handing over his contact information to get the copies.

“I’ll send them to you later tonight. Once I go through the bad ones. Just text me to make sure you got them. Or…if you want to grab a coffee or something.”

The blunette looked a little stunned before [Y/N] jogged off. “They like you.” Ren cut in, knocking Masaki out of his stopper. “They said you were cute.”

Masaki turned bright pink and nudged his brother in the shoulder. “Nii-san!!” To which Ren laughed, but still didn’t try to stop him when he texted [Y/N] later.

you meet with the mr. ren minato and miss kagami akiho, two famous celebrities who you’ll be catering a wedding for. they’re madly in love, madly rich, and you suddenly feel like planning a marriage in two months is not enough time! in the meanwhile, you get to know your office partner, thoma, some more.

monday morning came faster than you thought. as you walked into the office, briefcase and thoma’s dry-cleaned suit in hand, you weren’t expecting a fluctuation of clicking cameras and shouting reporters. you squirmed beside the crowd, attempting to squeeze into the golden revolving doors of the kamisato headquarters.

you popped out of the horde of people, only to nearly fall into thoma’s arms. quickly, you readjusted yourself and his dry-cleaned suit, eyes trained on the shiny, marble floor. “good morning, y/n!” he said cheerfully. “you’re just in time. our clients have just arrived and mr. and miss kamisato are entertaining them.”

“glad to have made it,” you replied, nodding your head. you shifted your arms to present his suit jacket to him. “apologies for not bringing you this sooner. thank you for allowing me to borrow your jacket, mr. thoma.”

“please, no need to be formal!” he chuckled, taking his jacket back nonetheless. “i appreciate that you were well-prepared for that interview. also, you really didn’t need to go as far as dry-cleaning my suit.”

“it wasn’t a problem, really!” you hastily replied, cheeks turning hot. adjusting your feet, you stood up straight. “i suppose ayaka and ayato have been entertaining for long enough. we better get up there and get to business.”

you strode past the reception desk, moving in step with thoma. he escorted you towards the elevator and you both awkwardly stood at opposite ends of the small compartment. he pressed a finger to the top floor button, and the rest of the ride was silent.

nervously, you played with your fingers. for some reason, you felt overwhelmed by thoma’s presence. your heart pounded against your chest as he whistled, checking his phone for emails. his head raised slightly, looking at you with a soft smile. hastily, you looked away from him, ducking your head down.

soon after, the elevator came to a stop, finally arriving at the kamisato siblings’ top floor office. you stepped out, heading straight for the door leading to the workplace. the blond beside you ran ahead, quick to open up the door like a gentleman.

ducking your head in, there was a boom of laughter echoing through the office. behind his polished desk was ayato, a cup of tea in hand as he conversed with his guests. beside him was ayaka, who was busy creating another pot of tea. and in front of them, a couple--a woman with long black hair and a man dressed in a white blouse and gold watch. ayato perked up when he saw the two of you enter. “ah, there you are. right on time, y/n,” he greeted. “care to say hello to our guests?”

mr. minato and ms. akiho were the definitions of a tabloid couple. their cheekbones were sharp and smile perfectly straight and pearly white. with the way they were dressed, they both looked they had just walked off a movie set. nodding your head, you bowed respectfully. “good morning, it’s a pleasure to meet you both,” you greeted. “i am y/n l/n, mr. kamisato’s intern for the summer and one of the three assistants helping you plan your wedding.”

“ah, no need to be formal!” mr. minato laughed, black hair moving as he tossed his hair back. “please, just call me ren. my fiancee and i are flattered to have such a capable person helping us out.”

“i agree,” ms. akiho smiled back at you. she perked up in her chair, folding her hands over her lap. “oh! please, don’t be afraid to call me by my first name, kagami. really, i’m quite excited as well!”

you smiled at the compliment. they were completely the opposite of what you expected from a-list celebrities, but you supposed that ayato wouldn’t have been close to them if they behaved otherwise.

“well then, i suppose that’s my cue to leave. ayaka, y/n, and thoma will take the lead from here,” the eldest kamisato interrupted, looking at his watch. “i have a meeting with a miss yae miko for the rest of the day about holding a festival in the city next year. ren, kagami, have a great time with these three. you’re in good hands.”

as ayato passed you with a smile, white hair fluttering past you, ayaka nodded to you and thoma. “let’s begin. i’ve planned a timetable, considering how quickly august is coming up,” she said as you and the blond approached her.

thoma pulled out your chair, offering you a small smile. sitting down, you folded your hands on your knees. “miss kamisato is correct. we’ll have to be meeting twice a week to achieve anything. mr. ren and ms. akiho, how does every tuesday and friday sound, starting next week? as far as mr. kamisato said, both of you have taken time off from acting to prepare for your wedding.”

“tuesday and friday mornings should work with us. kagami’s pilates class is in the afternoon and i usually have a meeting with my personal assistant.”

“aww, you remembered that i have a pilates class on fridays? you’re so cute,” miss kagami cooed while grabbing his cheek. her fiance smiled with equal fervor, holding her hand

“not as cute as you are,” he giggled back.

leaning to thoma, you raised an eyebrow. “is this what you meant by saying that they were madly in love?”

“something like that,” he replied, shrugging his shoulders as the couple continued to obsess over one another.

thankfully, ayaka was the one to get them back on track. “i suppose this means that the next question is in order: what is your budget? from there, we can dive into the finer details of your wedding.”

“oh, we don’t have one,” mr. ren replied cheerfully and you had to force your jaw not to drop. “honestly, as long as it’s everything we want, then we don’t really care.”

“a-are you sure you want to go without a budget? we don’t want you two to be surprised if the wedding ends up being more expensive than you had planned,” thoma interjected, but miss kagami shook her head.

“no, we’ll be just fine. besides, it would be nice to splurge on something that can only happen once in your life, right?” she smiled encouragingly.

“well, i suppose there’s no arguing against it,” ayaka said, noting it down in pink ink. “y/n, i believe it’s your turn.”

“right!” you nodded. looking through your briefcase, you pulled out a list of what to plan that you had printed the night before. “hm...i suppose that leads us to the guests next. about how many people will we be expecting?”

“a ton,” mr. ren replied vaguely, and you bit the inside of your cheek. “we’re inviting everyone from family to close friends to even the producers of our movies. it’ll be a full house.”

“wonderful to hear,” you answered. “so, um, now do we have a theme or any idea of one?”

“i was hoping for a floral-themed wedding, maybe a little rustic,” miss kagami smiled, but her soon-to-be husband made a face.

“i thought we had agreed on a beach wedding last night,” he said, raising an eyebrow.

you were quick to cut through before either of them could go on another tangent. “while you might not agree on a wedding theme right now, that’s not a problem. is there anything that you two are firmly against?”

“absolutely nowhere in the city are we having our wedding, unless it’s secluded,” they both replied in sync, making each other giggle. you made a note.

“since you two both need more time to think, and with a meeting happening on friday, i believe that should do it,” thoma cut in, smiling brightly. “over the next four or so days, please prepare a guest list so we can begin to ready invitations. on our end, we’ll arrange some inspiration for your wedding theme, and hopefully, reach a conclusion.”

“sounds wonderful,” mr. ren agreed. rising, they shook his hands. “i’m sure everything will be well.”

“i suppose that should mean i should walk you two out to the lobby. your ride has been waiting here for a while, after all,” ayaka said, hiding her hands behind her back.

“miss kamisato, i can do that for you thoma reassured, but she shook her head.

“thoma, i’d like you to start making some inspiration boards for their wedding,” she smiled. “i think you had a few themes going last week, so would you mind putting those pictures up in my office? y/n, i think it’d be good to work with thoma as well.”

“you’ve got it,” you replied. nodding at mr. ren and miss kagami, you bowed your head. “thank you for visiting us today. i promise that we’ll be working hard the next four days.”

thoma’s office was smaller than ayato’s and much simpler. at the front and in between two large windows was his wooden desk, where his desktop and laptop sat. a pair of cream-colored chairs were in front of it, on top of a fluffy rug. to the left side of the room was a marble counter was slotted in between bookshelves. to the right was a large window behind a chair, lamp, and small coffee table. several houseplants dotted the room, trimmed neatly.

“your office is beautiful,” you said as he shut the door behind you.

“really? how kind! i was really lucky to have gotten such a nice position to be given an office. it’s not really something a secretary gets, y’know?” he laughed. “anyways, we should do what ayaka said, if you look to the right, there’s your desk. i hope you don’t mind working in the same room as i do.”

he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, but you waved your hand dismissively. “n-no problem at all!” you reassured. “in fact, i’m glad to be working with you. you really seem to know your way around here, and i don’t want to burden ayaka, so it’s really nice.”

thoma only let out a flustered noise, but soon straightened himself out. “i suppose that means that we should get to what ayaka asked of us,” he announced, going behind his desk. shuffling around for a moment, his face crossed into a cute pout. “oh, i swear i put it in here somewhere…”

his hair curled over his neck, cascading over his broad shoulders. as he leaned over to try and find the file, you admired his suit. it was a simple black suit and tie, but he somehow made it look dashing.

“um, y/n? you still there?” he asked, making you snap out of your daydream.

“y-yeah!” you replied hastily, walking over beside him. in his hands were various printed pictures of weddings. “i see. since you knew that mr. ren and miss kagami were so indecisive about their wedding theme, you went and prepared for any possible situation.”

he scooted a little closer, handing a stack of images to you. “that’s right. i really don’t mind, but it is kinda tedious to print out so many papers. one of ayato’s close coworkers asked me if i was planning for my marriage while on the job,” he lightly laughed. his shoulder touched yours, and neither of you moved. “anyways, while i get all of these papers organized, would you mind hopping on my desktop and printing out some pictures for a beach wedding?”

as you sat in thoma’s leather chair, you noticed that his background screen was a picture of a cute puppy, tail wagging in the grass. you let a small smile, finding it absolutely adorable. after you returned to focus back on the project at hand. the two of you worked in silence for a while. you scoured through images upon images of sand, sunshine, and air beach dresses. after you compiled them into one file, you called him over to look at your selected images. “what do you think about these?” you asked as he walked over to you, manila folders in hand.

he braced himself against the back of his tall office chair, his figure eclipsing your own. his hands grabbed the plush backing of the chair, and he let out a contented note. “it looks good. really good. i think they’ll both like it when they see it.”

perking up, you smiled. “thanks. i try my best.”

“that reminds me, what do you think of these?” thoma asked, head tilting with a grin. “this theme is traditional. while i don’t think either of them is interested in a regular wedding, it wouldn’t hurt to create a file for one.”

you flipped through the images, stunned at the beautiful pictures he selected. “thoma, they’re perfect. i’m sure they’ll love these,” you replied, looking up at him from your seated position. his eyes and nose crinkled in delight, starting to take the files from you.

“well, i suppose we should get back to work…” he began, but as his hands were placed on the vanilla-colored files, you both paused.

your breathing stopped for a moment, realizing how close to him you were. the morning sun made him look like he had a glowing aura and the illumination of the computer screen turned his eyes harlequin. his lips looked bright pink and not a blemish on his face.

“what are you two doing?” ayato asked, sending you nearly flying away in thoma’s chair, backing yourself up by his window. you covered your face in embarrassment, awkwardly scooting back into position. “oh. did i catch you two at a bad moment?”

“no, not at all, ayato,” you replied. clearing your throat, you looked at him. “your sister asked us to retrieve some inspiration from pictures online. thoma was only handing me the files.”

“i see,” he replied, placing a hand on his chin.

thoma cut in with a bright smile. “how did that meeting go, mr. kamisato?”

“ah. same as always. miss miko never budges,” he laughed. suddenly, his sister appeared beside him, hands folded behind her back.

“did i miss something?” she asked, smoothing down her shirt.

“not at all,” her brother replied. after a moment, he leaned down to hastily tell her something. her eyes flitted between thoma and yourself. her mouth quirked up into a small smile, but she quickly recomposed herself.

“while ayato is certainly keen on spending his time differently than i am,” she elbowed his arm for emphasis. “i think that those will be enough pictures. let’s head out. meet me in my office.” she swiftly turned on her heel.

“so strict. no different from mom or dad,” he grinned. “you two should follow her. anyways, i’ll be in my office. work hard, you two!”

as he left, you looked at thoma, who looked at you. you both looked away fiercely, flustered at the situation. coughing slightly, you were the first to speak. “we should get to ayaka,” you said, rising out of his chair and handing him back his papers.

“yeah…we should,” he said dreamily, following you out the door.

Top 5 MBS Characters:

Kate Wetherall. I. Was. OBSESSED with Kate as a kid. I do prefer her in the books but I love her show incarnation as well!! The weird girl energy, the autism, the ADHD, it's all off the charts. Fav line from book Kate is still "Well of course it's not funny, but what do you want me to do? Cry?" List of sentences that changed my brain chemistry as a child.

Not to be a basic bitch, but Nicholas Benedict. Oh my god, I loved him in the books already -- we love to see a "wise, all-knowing mentor" character with actual personality and limitations -- but the direction the show took his character in was truly inspired. His discussion with Reynie about the white knight in the books is PEAK.

Reynie Muldoon. Understandably, since he's the POV character, he was the one I actually related to most as a kid. I love the "always trying to stay calm" thing he has going on, and how the narrative never punishes him for trying to be kind and genuine and earnest even though so many books and shows nowadays feel the need to equate niceness with naivete.

My funky little Milligan. Yet another character who I loved in the books already and adored seeing more of in the show. I especially love how much more autistic they made this man. "Geez, how 'bout a hello?" "........Hello." / "I'll be back." [vanishes] [reappears] ".......I'm back." King shit. And no matter what incarnation it is, his reunion with Kate will always reduce me to tears. The memory that was so deeply ingrained into his brain that even Curtain couldn't take it from him... was just that memory of his little girl asking him to go to the mill again... AUGH.... 😭

Constance Contraire. Like Kate, I prefer Book!Constance, but I adore the way the show portrayed her as well. First of all, she's hilarious. Second of all, while she's often being irrational, she also can be a voice of reason in some ways, and we love that. Funky little psychic child. And I just ADORE how kindly the book treats her. Even when she's getting on the other characters' nerves in a big way, the book never suggests that she's a detriment to them, that she needs to sit down and shut up, that they would be better off if they ditched her, or any number of other things that a less understanding narrative would be claiming.

Top 5 Persona Ships

Hamugis. Ohhh my god. MFW the overwhelming guilt I feel for having potentially ruined someone's life by sealing Death inside of her as a child slowly transforms into admiration as I meet her again and begin to see her as a strong leader and then love as I begin to discover my own humanity through her. MFW "I don't want you to love someone else... I don't want that, even if that's what would make you happy!!" MFW I touch my robot GF's literal heart and leave an indelible mark on her very being. Also uhh that one post. "I do not understand hookup culture!!! Die in my arms!!!" yeah. Aigis and Kotone for number one love story of all time.

Akimina. Much less canon interaction to go off of with these two but stay with me here. T4T autism4autism. I love Akihiko's earnestness and Minato's bluntness and how they combine to make a relationship that lacks miscommunication while also leaving a lot unsaid because neither is much one for conversation. I like the idea of Akihiko's intense desire to be strong to protect someone playing off of Minato's much more reserved, almost lackadaisical attitude, despite Minato's strength, and I think it would be so interesting to watch them move in opposite directions -- Akihiko learning to cut himself some slack and trust others rather than thinking he has to protect everyone alone, while Minato learns to break out of his shell and actually care about those around him and want to protect them -- while they also, at the same time, are learning almost identical lessons about relying on other people.

Ulamaya. The two girlies of all time. I adore how Ulala's combined jealousy and affection for Maya play off each other and how Ulala is one of the only characters in the game who feels like she's fully seeing Maya as she is -- a human like any other, even if she presents herself as eternally optimistic and strong so that others can lean on her. Their relationship feels so... equal. If that makes sense. Which, as much as I appreciate KatsuMaya, can feel a little lacking in other Maya ships imo, bc it always feels like other characters (ESPECIALLY the masked circle) tend to idolize Maya. And Maya's forgiveness of Ulala's betrayal... what's that one Hozier line... "I'd be the immediate forgiveness in Eurydice." Yeah.

Pegoryu. God I just love how ride-or-die Ryuji is right off the bat. You meet him, have a near-death experience with him, and ten minutes later he's shoveling more food onto your plate insisting that you need to eat more. Even before then, it may be Akira who saves Ryuji from Kamoshida, but it's Ryuji who tackles him away, yells at him to run and save himself, who gives Akira the faith in humanity that the rest of the world had eroded away at that point.

Tie between Saoriham and Kannao. Saori's social link is one of the best parts of Persona 3 straight up, and Kanji and Naoto are just so goddamn cute together.

Orioles!!! I have such fond memories of helping my grandma skewer orange halves and fill jars with grape jelly as a kid to attract the orioles (though I thought they were called oreos for the longest time, lmao)

Robins. We get a ton of them around here and I love seeing them hop around on the sidewalk.

Magpies. Haven't seen one meself but they're such cool birds. If I could have wings I'd want them to be magpie-style.

Man, Onodera has a really... blunt way of saying things to her human clients. Wow, brave. 😲

Our chapter begins where we left off in chapter 13--Minato pinning Shizuma down on the bed. Shizuma looks up at Minato and reflects on his actions that caused the pained look he is seeing.

On the next page (title page), the dialogue reads: Shizuma wants to understand what it is about his director (Onodera) that is making Minato uneasy. // However, that beautiful liar hides it well...

(I believe we are taken back to the morning before Shizuma and Minato meet up for their date.)

The title page features Onodera walking back to the clinic, bread in hand, with a cat cozying up on her leg. We are then brought to the clinic's lunchroom, with the female staff and Shizuma on break. The roster in the room shows that Onodera is extremely busy, Nakajou-sensei has afternoon house call appointments, Tatsumi is Nakajou-sensei's support for these appointments, and Shizuma has a half day and finishes in the afternoon in lieu of working on his scheduled day off.

Shizuma asks his coworkers what presents they like from their partners and takes note of their answers. One of the female nurses asks if it's Minato's birthday. Shizuma confesses that their relationship has been affected by the various things happening lately, so he wants to get Minato a gift before seeing him later that day.

The nurses quickly pick up that the gift is a "tribute" of sorts as this line of work means a lot of missed appointments and dates, and Shizuma confirms their suspicions. While the nurses realise male-male relationships and male-female relationships aren't that different in this aspect, everyone in the lunchroom is alerted to someone shouting Nakajou-sensei's name.

Shizuma and a nurse see Tatsumi with Nakajou-sensei, who has collapsed on the floor. While the staff are concerned about Nakajou's well-being, she brushes it off as a dizzy spell. Before they can help her up, Onodera sweeps her off her feet and carries Nakajou to her (Onodera's) office. While Nakajou asks Onodera to put her down out of sheer embarrassment, Shizuma and Tatsumi are in shock, with Tatsumi commenting on Onodera's manliness in that moment. One of the other nurses gently smacks Shizuma's shoulder and tells the two to grab a blanket and a drink for Nakajou.

In her office, Onodera asks Nakajou why she's been overworking herself to the point of collapsing. The nurse (who gave the gentle smack) very obviously hints to Onodera that it is her fault. As Nakajou calms the nurse by saying that's just how the director is, Tatsumi asks Nakajou about their afternoon appointments. She says she'll be fine to go after a little rest, but the nurse says she mustn't overexert herself.

After a few back and forths about who should go and the clients' needs/personality (picky about the vet, had a pet that doesn't like men, etc), Onodera says she will go. The nurses are shocked and reminisce about all the issues they've had when Onodera interacts with the owners. Tatsumi and Shizuma stand there, and can very clearly imagine those situations happening.

While Onodera rearranges and informs the nurses of the shift changes to accommodate Nakajou-sensei, Shizuma has a terrible premonition that unfortunately comes true: he is appointed as Onodera's support for the afternoon house calls.

Wearing a sulky expression, Shizuma packs the necessary equipment in Onodera's car and reminds her that he has a very important engagement that night that he cannot miss, and as such will leave immediately after the house call appointments are done. Onodera bursts his bubble, and tells him to give up on those plans while he can since this is the line of work he's chosen.

As Shizuma reads the client files, he questions Onodera on why he is her support when he's never attended to these clients before. While Onodera tells him that good coordination is important with a physician's support and that he's the only one she can rely on to give her an honest opinion and calm the clients, Shizuma realises that he's basically the mediator between her and the owners. She confirms that this is his strong point, has great expectations for him, and proceeds to drive. Shizuma then reads the patient files at lightning speed, realising there's a threatening 'something' that Minato has sensed, but that's just how the director is. He then vows to make it to their meeting tonight, no matter what.

The first three house calls, as expected, involve Onodera insulting and angering the owners--Onodera tells the first client that his insistence on seeing Nakajou rather than a 'young' director is having a negative effect on his pet who needs immediate medical care; Onodera offends the second client, inferring from their conversation that her pet's appearance is more important than the need to shave their fur and get an ultrasound done; Onodera accuses the third client of being irresponsible in caring for his exotic animals and asks for more effort on his part. In all three scenarios, Shizuma awkwardly smiles while trying to ease the tension.

The scene skips to Onodera and Shizuma arriving at their fourth and final house call for the day. Just as Onodera explains to Shizuma that she must check a whole host of things at house calls (and indirectly be too blunt about it with the owners), Shizuma asks her to consider the owner's feelings and change when and how she says things. She glares ahead in silence, and Shizuma is just glad that she is now aware of it. He again reminds her to talk with the owner nicely and gently as he probably won't be able to help with the next client as their pet dislikes men. Onodera tells him to just sit in the corner and witness the client become furious while he doesn't help, making him feel slightly guilty for saying that. He is now adament on not helping her.

They reach the owner's home and we meet an elderly woman named Shiratori and her 9-year-old male cat, Tono. Shiratori apologises to Shizuma as her cat doesn't like men. Tono hisses at them as Onodera opens his cage, but is then coaxed into submission by Onodera who covers his vision with a towel and takes him into her lap to calm down. Shiratori and Shizuma are surprised at his sudden docile nature, with Shizuma witnessing how well she deals with animals.

As Shizuma looks on at Onodera while she completes a check on Tono, he sees she is crumbling at the friendliness and talkative nature of Shiratori, who sings nothing but praise for Onodera and how her family must be proud to have such an amazing daughter. Aiming to ease her troubles and remembering the earlier guilt-trip she gave him, he redirects Shiratori's attention to her broken fly screen and offers to fix that plus everything else that needs repair in her home.

Onodera watches as the two leave the room for a bit before apologising to Tono for ignoring him. Tono looks on at Onodera happily while she asks him how he can live with such a lively human and to tell her his secret to this. She brings him into her arms once more to check his limbs, and as Tono looks up smiling at Onodera, Onodera sees her reflection in Tono's eyes, and both seem to realise something.

BG Text: Stare...

Suddenly, Shizuma and Shiratori, who are busy fixing the window, hear a loud crash and rush into the room to find Tono atop the cabinet and Onodera on the floor, with her hair in disarray. In the next panel, Tono is shown to be hiding in the bookshelf, looking on irritatingly at the humans. Shiratori apologises to Onodera, who shakes it off and says it's nothing to worry about and no harm's been done.

Shiratori asks if Onodera will fix/tie her hair up again, but when Onodera says her hair tie was broken when Tono used her as a launchpad to get on the cabinet, Shiratori runs to get her a new one. As Shiratori gushes over the 3 piece dopey looking character hair tie set she received as a present from her grandchild (and lets Onodera pick one), a greatly displeased look is plastered on Onodera's face. Shizuma, in shock, notices her displeasure and hopes she just thanks Shiratori for it. And Onodera does, bringing a great big smile to Shiratori's face.

As Onodera and Shizuma leave, Shiratori says she's glad to have talked with Onodera and invites her to come over again. As she says this, we see Onodera looking back with a blank look in her eyes.

In Which I Attempt to Wreak Havoc Upon Panharmonium's Heart. Or Something.

Because I am an awesome friend, clearly, and possibly making people sad/verklempt is definitely an excellent way to (belatedly 😔 but I did start before the 15th!) celebrate Kakashi's birthday, right? ;)

I will admit up front that this is nowhere near as deftly structured and compiled as your Kakashi fanmix, @panharmonium, but that is precisely why I'm not even going to try to organize all these songs into individual playlists. Yet. Plus, I have a tendency to over-explain so this way I can better expound on why certain songs remind me of certain characters. Sorry that I sorta went a little... overboard?

What I'm Looking For - Brendan Benson | Kakashi → I may be a little biased with this one because it fits SO many of my favorite characters so well, somehow, but there's just something about the upbeat/tongue-in-cheek musical cues/delivery of lines such as 'I visit hell on a daily basis, and I see the sadness in all your faces' that just feels so Kakashi to me.

Happy Ending - MIKA | Kakashi → This is presumably a breakup song, but I enjoy it so much more in a non-romantic context (and the song itself isn't really boxed in with overtly romantic framing, so I appreciate that!). Anyway, some very important instructions IMO for listening to this with Kakashi in mind: everything before the bridge is about Kakashi up through his ANBU years, but when you get to the 'little bit of love' refrain, picture Kakashi meeting Tenzo, and then becoming Team 7's sensei, opening back up to Gai, adopting all the other leaf genin, assimilating Sai and Yamato into Team 7, and it keeps building with Kakashi gaining more and more loved ones to fill the hole in his heart, and then cry tears of joy with me! Just my personal suggestion. :D

→ I've seen this song used for ship vids and I'm all ????? about that because this is clearly a song about the love you have for your child! Putting The Dog To Sleep - The Antlers | Kakashi & Sasuke → Okay, on one hand, this song is One Big Oof. But I do like the (potentially odd) way I've conceptualized it for Kakashi & Sasuke? Like, the first half is Kakashi going through all the tragedies in his life and getting lost in ANBU, but then in the second half it transitions to him wanting to prevent Sasuke from having to be as alone as Kakashi once was and they can face life together? It makes me emotional!

I guess sometimes you can safely guess that the mothers are still alive/exist, but either way we hardly ever get to see them. :/ The one exception I can think of right now is Kurenai, but maybe I'm forgetting another conspicuous single mother. Anyway, I don't know if this helps or hinders more a potential Naruto fanvid for this song, but regardless, it still gives me feelings?

Who We Are - Switchfoot | Ensemble → It just makes me inordinately happy that the chorus for this song starts with 'who we are (in the fever of our youth)', you know? :D

Brother - Kodaline | all the friendships we can stuff in here and then some → Quite a well known song I'm pretty sure, but I love how many dynamics one could showcase in a potential fanvid of this. And, not gonna lie, 'oh brother, we go deeper than the ink beneath the skin of our tattoos' deserves to be used in some sort of Tenzo 'n' Kakashi or Team Ro fan creation!
