seeing bumblebees disappear into these flowers was very cute.
Unfortunately i realised afterwards that this is probably Himalayan balsam, an invasive plant I'm required to remove. :/

Transformers (Foster Lane and Nutclough)
After depositing unwanted books at the large charity shop on a windy, changeable mid-August Tuesday, we continued aimlessly up Valley Road. From the bridge over Hebden Water, we noted tall walls, old building ends and Nutclough Mill fire station, dated 1916. We ventured into Calrec carpark for a closer look and spotted the back of a tall, thin house, seemingly marooned. Previously unnoticed…

The Small Things Spreading Joy in October 2023
How have we got to end of October already? If anyone could tell me where the year has gone and how I might slow the remaining months down a little, I’d love to hear from you! More seriously, as autumn beds in and the days grow darker I hope that my little pictures can be one of the sparks of light in each day. There are thirty pictures below, – including many roses, a few views, some foraged…

I was reminded of this meme template, and I am very into symbolism so here we are.
#my art#original characters#setting: thugs and birds#for context the Himalayan balsam is considered an invasive species here#and Pepe is also very good at invading any and all personal spaces#also I know ’a lone wolf’ is considered like a very cool and badass thing to be#but I invite you to consider what a hapless creature a packless wolf actually is

Man. Not to sound like an ass, but the average person really does not know anything about plants huh
#i was pulling up a bunch of himalayan balsam again in the woods i always go to#and this person stopped me and got really mad and i had to explain#and when she was proven wrong she got all huffy#but its okay because i was also stopped by a person saying she knew nothing about plants but that it was nice of me to be doing this#and i got to explain what i was doing and what the plants were

The most upsetting part of being in plant ID subreddits is occasionally seeing people post pictures of Japanese knotweed on their property and internally screaming NOOOOOOOOOO
#draco speaks#evil plant evil plant evil plant#impossible to get rid of ecologically and structurally damaging plant#I unfortunately know what it looks like very well as there are a few 'waste land' spots in my area where it grows#we get a lot of Himalayan balsam as well but that's easy to pull up luckily
