The culture of kissing in the 18th century varies regionally, although in the culture of Eastern Europe, including the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, kissing another man was not associated with romance and was common among people of both sexes. Representatives of the upper classes kissed as a sign of friendship, humility and respect, and the places of kissing were differentiated depending on status, age, level of relationship and the ceremony of the meeting. Friends often kissed each other on the face, neck or shoulders. It was common to kiss hands, and the greatest sign of respect was kissing knees or shoes. There were often kiss fights in which nobles tried to show humility trough a kiss, so often one tried to kiss the other "more and lower". Something unbelievable for 18th century French man.

Live blogging SIREN season 2 finale, because it is so painful dumb.
The finale acts like everyone finding out about mermaids and that basically causes WW3 is the logical conclusion of season 1 and season 2. spoiler: it isn’t.
Like, one episode ago we had ā€žmermaid in vitro fertilization and singing cult peopleā€œ and suddenly we have KZs for people with mermaid DNA?! Idk if it is the lack of American education about WW2, but as a German I am watching this and I go: ā€žNo! No! No! Don’t!ā€œ who the hell was sitting in the writers room and thought: ā€žyup, KZs and WW2 parallels in a Fanatsy Teenie show about mermaid is a completely fine thing to doā€œ?!
Doctor who also did that in the season 4 finale and they walked on a really slim line. And it mostly worked. But here?! Even having KZ ā€žshowerā€œ parallels? Honesty, it’s disgusting and horrible written. Educate yourself before you write something like this in a mermaid Fanatsy show! 🤢

Honestly it's weird that roleplaying as we know it evolved from historical wargaming.
Like for example DBA rules contain some suggestions for running campaigns with narrative and "propaganda" so I wouldn't say that it's something incompatible, and 0E looks way more like wargames than say PbtA games do, but storytelling games were a feature of artistic salons for way longer and they appear much closer to roleplaying than rulesets for reenacting ancient battles on tabletop.
Salon games didn't have skill checks but neither did wargames and it's strange that nobody came up with simplistic skill checks to add uncertainty and realism to the game
I think the line is a lot clearer when the role of dice and rules in tabletop roleplaying games is correctly understood.
"Uncertainty" and "realism" are, at best, secondary to what the dice are actually doing. Even most tabletop RPGs get it wrong when they try to explain themselves – they'll talk about the rules as something to fall back on to prevent schoolyard arguments (i.e., "yes I did!/no you didn't!") from derailing the story, when in fact it's the exact opposite.
If we look at freeform roleplaying as an illustrative parallel, we see that, while newly formed groups may in fact fall to bickering when a consensus can't be reached about what ought to happen next, mature and well-established groups tend instead to fall prey to excessive consensus-seeking: the impulse to always find an outcome that isn't necessarily one which everybody at the table can be happy with, but at the very least one which everybody at the table can agree is reasonable – and that's a lot more constraining than one might think.
In this sense, the role of picking up the dice isn't to build consensus, but to break it – to allow for the possibility of outcomes which nobody at the table wanted or expected. It's the "well, this is happening now" factor that prevents the table's dynamic from ossifying into endless consensus-seeking about what reasonably ought to happen next.
Looking to the history of wargames, this is precisely the innovation they bring to the table. Early historical wargames tended to be diceless affairs which decided outcomes by deferring to the judgment of a referee or other subject matter expert, but the use of randomisers increasingly came to be favoured because referees would tend to favour the most reasonable course, precluding upsets and rendering the outcomes of entire battles a foregone conclusion. This goes all the way back to the roots of tabletop wargaming – people were literally having "rules versus rulings" arguments two hundred years ago!
(This isn't the only facet of tabletop roleplaying culture which has its roots in wargaming culure, of course. For example, you can draw a direct line from the preoccupation of early tabletop RPGs with punishing the use of out-of-character knowledge to historical wargaming's gentleperson's agreement to refrain from making decisions based on information that one's side's commanders couldn't possibly have possessed when re-creating historical battles.)
To be clear, I don't necessarily disagree that salon games could have yielded something like modern tabletop RPGs. However, first they'd have had to arrive at the paired insights that a. excessive consensus-seeking is poison to building an interesting narrative; and b. randomisers can be used to force the breaking of consensus, and historical wargames had a substantial head start because they'd figured all that out a century earlier.

Redacted characters have so much depth and I’m here to talk about it!!
Sam is soft. So soft. He feels things deep. And he knows that and is in touch with it too. We hardly ever see that side of him though because he’s always the support pillar for everyone else.
He’s there fighting, protecting, and healing during the Inversion
And also even more recently he’s there talking sense into Vincent and Porter
He’s also the emotional support for Vincent in so many ways
The only times we’ve ever seen him vulnerable and really talk about his feelings is around Darlin’. And I cannot express enough how special this. He never puts up a brave front around them. He’s not afraid that he’ll be viewed differently if he showed vulnerability in front of Darlin’. He started off slow, tested the waters, and was met with nothing but acceptance which allowed him to fully give himself to them.
He says it the best himself:
ā€œBut I also know that the way we throw ourselves at the world doesn’t have to reflect the way we tackle everything in life. People aren’t simple. We all exist in shades.ā€
ā€œā€¦And you might be right on that. I suppose this is a side of me I don’t put on display often either. But it comes easy with you. A lot of things come easier when it comes to you.ā€
There are so many beautiful moments in their relationship that make me feel so warm inside. (Not in chronological order because im doing this off the top of my head)
Ofc, the moment when he finally lets go in front of Darlin’ when they finally reunite during the inversion
Him expressing his wish to go slow in their relationship due to traumatic experiences in the past
Sam checking in with Darlin’ and making sure they know that he’s serious about them moving in as equals
Oh my gosh that time when he comforts Darlin’ after they had their own traumatic history aired out to him???
ā€œYou’ve been so strong for so long. Letting yourself feel it now doesn’t mean that strength is giving out. It takes a whole other kind of strength to let yourself feel that.ā€
(This totally applies to Sam himself too. Being emotional doesn’t mean he’s weak. It makes him strong so he can support others too.)
The entirety of Learning to Heal with Your Vampire Mate means so much to me. It just screams ā€œyou can feel, but you can use that to healā€.
AND THATS WHY HES GOOD AT HEALING MAGIC
ā€œOur powers are tied to emotion in a really fundamental way. And with something as freeform as Healing, that connection becomes that much more influential. Where you’re at inside directly affects what you can do outside, and that can be tough to work with. To Heal in a crisis, you need to know yourself in a way that not everyone wants to.ā€
I kinda went off track there. Anyway, bottom line is that Sam is probably one of, if not the, strongest redacted character emotionally (and physically). And I love that about him.
He’s the antithesis of the stereotype that men have to shut down their feelings to be strong and masculine. No tears. No weakness.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk :)
The nuances of character and personality hidden within these characters though!!! I just can’t I need to talk about it to someone so I’m here screaming into the void.

The Nerdy Prudes never really send the Lords in Black away again, so imagine if like… they just never leave and decide to attend high school since they ā€˜blend in so well’. Peter, Stephanie and Grace go back to school one day and suddenly, Wiggly (sorry, ā€˜Will’) is in a corner of the cafeteria trying to get people to sign up to the Marine Biology club he’s started because he has ā€˜a deep connection to cephalopods’. There’s Tinky (or ā€˜Terrence’) correcting the History teacher in vivid detail and sitting uncomfortably close to Peter, asking intrusive questions about his older brother Ted. There’s Pokey (or ā€˜Patrick’) overacting every minor role he gets in the Drama club and staging ā€˜unfortunate accidents’ for the rest of the cast of the school musical so he’s ā€˜forced’ to take all the roles and perform a stirring one-man rendition of ā€˜The Sound of Music’ (you should hear his ā€˜Climb Every Mountain’). There’s Blinky (ā€˜Ben’) getting straight A’s in his film class because he never takes his eyes off the screen and notices every minute detail missed by the teachers. There’s Nibbly (ā€˜Nova’) defunding the Home Ec department by devouring all of their ingredients and spending class time eating everyone’s work. Then halfway through the year Webby (ā€˜Wendy’) decides to come to the school in order to save the students, but she is immediately and relentlessly bullied by her brothers who designate her as a ā€˜nerd’ (she’s had around twelve swirlies). Oh yeah, and they’re all on the football team, go Nighthawks!

"gmmtv's 25 lineup is just branded pairings and it's killing the bl industry"
baby where have you been this has been gmmtv's bread and butter since 1000 Stars. by gmmtv's own admission they're building idols not actors lmao branded pairings are for selling what makes them actual money in merch, fanmeets, concert ticket sales. Their lineup today got 4 million tweets on twitter. They ain't changing shit and they never wanted to make art this is capitalism to a T. gmmtv is freeform meets HYBE.
gmmtv is just living by that Michael Eisner philosophy:
ā€œWe have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make a statement. But to make money, it is often important to make history, to make art, or to make some significant statement. We must always make entertaining movies, and, if we make entertaining movies, at times, we will reliably make history, art, a statement or all three.
We cannot expect numerous hits, but if every film has an original and imaginative concept, then we can be confident that something will break through.ā€
rip the tags of these shows tho for fans I'm rooting for my pals who are gonna be watching some of these shows to be able to enjoy them in peace

Gotta Get This off my Chest
Severus Snape & HBO Series
Alright first off, I know you are generally expecting well thought out essays from me but here I’m going to Ramble Freeform. You’ve been warned.
I don’t know how I feel at all about another actor attempting to play Severus Snape. JK Rowling is the main producer and honestly this worries me a lot considering the amount of hatred she has for LGBTQ people and the amount of hatred Severus has gotten in the last years. This space is bad sometimes but generally we have a fantastic community of people in this snapedom who love the character as he is written positives and negatives. I for one liked Snape from the first book I read and the first movie I watched.
I’ll be the first to admit that my image of him is very much wrapped up in Alan Rickman, and tho I greatly respect other peoples images of snape and I love the fan art they make, the thing that made Alan such an amazing character actor for the part was the unabashed love he had for the character. Look at any interview of him about Severus and you will see that he went to bat for him at every turn. What if we we are given someone who sees Snape through the eyes of the marauders fandom? What if they erase all of Snapes goodness or heaven forbid write extra scenes of cruelty to Lily that didn’t exist, or have him creep over her, or physically attack her, or characterize him as the aggressor with James when we all know it was the other way around? These kinds of fears keep me from being excited about the new series and instead leave me anxious.
For one thing, I wish they had focused more on a different period of wizard history, or a different part of the 1st wizarding war or even marauders/young Severus era, because there is so much to explore. I would have liked to explore story lines that really could use more fleshing out, and if JK Rowling is going to be a part of this she could have easily written new passages or short stories to suit this new narrative. I also worry about the fact that yet again because she is a producer there will certainly be no LGBTQ characters in the narrative and that’s a waste to me. We already have a fantastic interpretation of the books, and if they are doing a redo why not cast people of color or trans or any LGBT characters in the mix? It will be the same story just perhaps fleshed out more? I’m not sure what this series will bring to the table that the movies did not unless they radically change some things.
Yet, with this interpretation we may see many thing in the series that we don’t see in the books. Severus has two big scenes at the end of POA and GOF that were totally left out of the movies, and if this was left in and the ā€œprankā€ was explored more in depth we could get to see an even more complex narrative than Alan was allowed to portray in the movies (largely due to directorial choices).
Severus as we all know is a complex character that can be different or difficult to understand without a trauma informed lense and the last thing I want is for them to shove him into a gross stereotype, or give him attributes that don’t exist in the books in order to cater to certain fandoms. I’m genuinely worried about the prospect of this. I also don’t want our fandom safe spaces that we’ve spent years curating to be over run with Snape hate again just because of the series. I could be being pessimistic. It’s just been on my mind lately.
No hard feelings it’s just…Severus Snape is my comfort character and I don’t want the idea of it ruined by people who don’t really understand him or who wouldn’t bat for him the way Alan did. Please understand me. Does anyone else have mixed feelings this way?

Pressure and Release
Human: *hmm-ing at a set of dials and gauges*
Alien: What seems to be *translation unit catches up with the information they're displaying* OH MY GOD IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE!!! GET TO THE ESCAPE PODS NOW!!!!
H: Shh, it's fine, I'm just experimenting.
A: OH MY GOD WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE HORRIBLY!
H: Hey! Rude. *turns a dial causing a loud hissing noise* It's just air compressors and hydraulics.
A: *due to not dying, is beginning to relax* Why do you need up to 200 atmospheres running through these systems. We have invented alloy-specific magnetization mechanisms. Please, why do you keep insisting on these volatile and explosive means?
H: *turns the dial up* Because... *releases the pressure again, loud sudden hissing sound again* That's a cool sound.
A: Just because you think something is 'cool' doesn't make it-
H: *interrupts with another air build up and release sound without breaking eye contact*
A: *leaves*
H: *continues to play around*
_________________________________________
Okay, so I wanna get this off my chest. I find myself now for the fourth time starting a fun little activity, doing it for months on end, having a blast, and then almost suddenly dropping it entirely. First time I wrote some short stories or something every day for about six months and put it on deviantart. Then some longer form stuff started cropping in, sort of continuous narratives or whatever, and I stopped. Second was running a open D&D campaign with a persistent world but ever changing party, each session a sort of one-shot with a decision that would impact the whole world and what future sessions would exist. Not even 10 sessions in I felt under pressure to continue and build upon what I had already and just couldn't and stopped. Third was another kind of TTRPG, this time running my own server for Lancer. Again, open one shots, but less connected and I would hopefully get some of the players to want to run their own games within this freeform framework that I directly lifted from a D&D server I was in, even had some of the same people join as players. Few months later, I felt this massive pressure from myself to run games and come up with new scenarios that I just froze up. I cancelled game after game and just eventually abandoned the server and the resources I had made. Fourth time was here on tumblr itself. Back to writing some short form stuff on a fairly regular basis, almost daily for some time even. Had a blast, and then longer form content started creeping in. I thought I wanted to write some stories with an overarching plot and recurring characters and connected storylines, build up and pay off, that sort of thing. Again, I created this massive pressure by myself for myself of myself to do something I apparently can't. I created this sense of expectation of myself "Well, I started this, I should finish it, but where do I go, what do I do, how can I connect this?" And then this self-inflicted pressure got to me, again. And I stopped.
What I have known for a while, but couldn't put into words is that I don't want to tell a big long epic story or anything like that. I don't have one of those in me and forcing something like that only makes me shrivel up and run away. I have a world, several in fact, in my mind. Entire continents of a low fantasy character driven political intrigue and drama based world with tons of rules and restrictions, thousands of years of history, strong personalities for the main actors and so many individual scenes with them and the supporting cast, and a timeframe for when the overarching story happens and how it ends. But no story itself. Just scenes. I have a high fiction sci-fi world, again, with very distinct factions and races, most of the details I have written out back when I was a teen in a physical notebook with pen and pencil. Lots of historical points and events, how the races work, their domains if you will, near magical powers I try to explain with plausible science. Tons of specific details. Even drew each of their common symbols, how one of the languages is structured, schematics of how their cities are planned, and details on other planets in the system and how those might be important later. But, not a single individual character or story. Just dry facts. And then we have the loose sci-fi world I've created here. Bunch of different angles and perspectives, some comedic, some more serious, even put Cthulu in there. Many short and mostly self-contained stories and episodes of various humans doing things an exaggerated version of humanity would do. There is potential for a number of expanded and longer form stories here, some I attempted, and as mentioned, what ultimately made me stop. I don't have a book in me, and I don't want to write one. I just like to write little snippets and I want to get myself to accept this idea that, no, it does not need to become more than that. Because every time I start going down a path where it feels like it should be more than a one page thing, I seize up, start thinking that I need to do this, panic when I can't come up with anything, go silent, and give up. It just does not work for my brain. And that's fine.

Hi hi, beginner witch in practice here, but I've had interest for ages. I've read multiple books on the history of witchcraft, and I've been doing a lot of research, but I'm a bit (very) overwhelmed on where to start. I know protection magic/spells are where I should start, but I don't know how? Do I find someone else's spell? Craft my own? Make a sigil??
And then what's the next step after protection? (I'm drawn to chaos/eclectic magic - it calls to me and my adhd)
Hello and welcome, witchling! Glad to hear you're doing the homework. I know it's a lot, but it's a very good place to start. Let me see if I can provide a little direction.
Protection magic is often recommended as a good place to start, and it's an opinion that I happen to agree with. For one thing, it's a nice low-stakes type of magic that involves a lot of concepts and visualizations that you'll be able to apply to other types of magic later on. And for another, as with any new hobby or craft, it's usually a good idea to learn the safety guidelines first.
That being said, that still leaves you with a lot of options for your entry into spellcasting. And the answer is kind of Yes To All, in this case. It might be easiest to pick a simple protection spell that someone else has written and give that a try, just to have a premade example to work from. Take note of what does and doesn't work for you with regard to materials, methodology, and the casting process - these will help you hone your skills later.
Writing your own spells and creating sigils are EXCELLENT creative exercises at any experience level. You don't even necessarily have to do anything with them right away, you can just make them as a way of figuring out how things fit together and what works best for you.
As for where to go next, there's really no One Correct Answer. What I recommend is to choose something that interests you, research it, then maybe give it a try if it seems doable. (And yes, that means I encourage dabbling.) There's no need to choose a particular path or archetype right away (or ever). Nothing wrong with a bit of freeform exploration, especially if you, like me, are in Club ADHD and thrive off that New Discoveries dopamine hit.
If you'd like some ideas, I have a post of Witchcraft Exercises that might get your mind moving in new directions, help you parse what you've learned, and maybe give you a few activities to try.
Best of luck to you and keep asking questions!!!

Law of Casuality Write-Up (Pt.1?)
Warning!!: the following contains self-indulgence to the likes you’ve never seen before
Law of Causality: The proposition that everything in the universe has a cause and is thus an effect of that cause
Happy Sulemio week! Since it’s Fantasy Day, I decided to finally get cracking on this freeform analysis of my G-Witch series— Law of Causality. I’ve mentioned before this may be my favorite thing I’ve ever written. I was in a manic ADHD-fixation trance while writing this series. If you want the literary version of a triple-layer myth cake, this may be for you. I was considering an essay-style dissection but that’s taking too long. So here are my loose insights into this series as a whole!
Tumblr media
Art by my friend Tay, or @TaruhtQarineXiV on Twitter
As Above, So Below: Where it all began. I’ve mentioned in the A/Ns that this was spawned from my deep looks into what the show was taking inspiration from (imo). It’s my little love letter to Sulemio and gwitch, which quickly grew into something more.
Queen in White/King in Red—Beyond the alchemy, I wanted titles that sounded fairytale-esque while also hinting toward another mythos. Hastur or the King in Yellow (Signalis and True Detective enjoyers know that name) The initial King in Yellow appears in HaĆÆta the Shepherd as the benevolent god of shepherds; a domain Hastur shares with Mercury. The short story is about the impermanence of happiness and how it can only be found once you stop seeking it. It’s a theme I ran with for the entirety of LoC, particularly Elnora. The later incarnations of Hastur are malicious eldritch figures. Suletta vs Prospera 😊
On Faerytales: LoC is obsessed with cycles and the rhyming of history. To me, fairytales embody that perfectly. The oral traditions of them are never the exact same, flavored with variations throughout the years. It’s how we got mythology to local folklore to Brothers Grimm to Disney renditions. That’s why I used Eros and Psyche and Sleeping Beauty for Suletta and Miorine (I’m convinced the show does this too but ymmv)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The latter is inspired by the former with Psyche placed under a sleeping torpor Eros breaks. In Sleeping Beauty, the offending curse is a spindle and she’s barricaded by a witch in the form of a dragon. The Hawthorn serves as Mio’s ā€˜spindle’ as she suffers depression and isolation in the wake of her mother’s vanishing. Prospera (coded as witch Satan) is the dragon. Notrette is the fairies bearing gifts. In a twist, Suletta wakes her with Love as Anteros in the place of Eros. Yes I layered this cake excessively. It’s probably still confusing; I’m sorry.
Tldr; I used Sleeping Beauty alongside Greek myth.
Chaos and Night: Paradise Lost twisted into a toxic witch romance. One of the most insane ideas I’ve had, but I adore it to bits. Both Prospera and Notrette are vested to the teeth with mythology and theology.
Notrette: Besides Thelema’s Nuit/Babalon and cuing her as ā€˜God’, as a being of creation, opposed to the Devil, I fit so much into her character. She’s Lilith, Pandora, Circe, Ceres, Virgin Mary, the Morrigan, Ariadne, a deconstruction of the Mother Goddess from neopaganism, and the capricious Queen of Elphame from folklore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another figure I styled her after is White Boann, the Dagda’s mistress and wife to Nechtan (cognate with Nuada or the silver-hand) which is where you get the hazel tree link. Boann names her son Aengus because the Dagda was her ā€˜one desire’.
Tumblr media
Circling back to Paradise Lost, she also plays the willing Eve who falls to Satan’s temptation in place of Miorine. There’s likely things I’m forgetting; I was so normal plotting her character.
Elnora: What can I say about this glorious wreck that wasn’t in the text? Venus, The red dragon Satan, the Beast from revelation, pagan Horned God, Neptune to Ceres, Theseus and Bacchus to Ariadne, Prometheus to Pandora, every Phosphoros, etc I’d be here all day. She’s coded as Orion the hunter who’s undone by Gaia and also the Teumessian fox to Suletta’s Laelaps. I mentioned she’s the riders of the apocalypse at the end too. White Rider is Suletta but her mom fulfills the rest; ā€˜Riding’ Vim as War, Riding Belmeria as Famine while wielding the ā€˜scales’ (Notrette as Libra) Finally, she wears the visage of death to bring Pestilence to the kingdom. I squeezed in the other omens of revelation with symbolism such as the crown of wormwood (Revelation 8:11)
When it comes to her role as Prometheus, I coded both Delling and Mio as birds of Venus (swallow and dove respectfully.) It’s meant to symbolize the ā€˜eagle’ devouring her was primarily herself all along. She was the architect of her ruin, lampshaded by Notrette from the beginning.
Tumblr media
Remember HaĆÆta the Shepherd? In the story, there is a maiden whom embodies the ephemeral nature of happiness. Notrette is Elnora’s transformative destruction into cathartic acceptance/happiness. In Paradise Lost, Satan succeeds at banishing Eve and Adam from the garden but similarly fails when he’s turned into a snake. She’s lucky I was more metaphorical.
I liberally used Revelation 12, the woman and the dragon, as well. Look at me shipping crackships from the Bible. This is mostly self-explanatory, ofc Christ is genderbent and a role shared by Sulemio. Mio’s allergy to iron doubles as a nod to this, since she doesn’t take her father’s kingdom in this universe.
Tumblr media
There is more, such as Dionysis/Bacchus being a many-faced god with younger and older versions paralleling the Horned God’s dual aspects and the Dagda’s relationship to Aengus which led to me pitting Suletta as a lighter mirror of Elnora. But I’ll leave it here for now.
Writing this all out has me questioning what I was on, and how I can reproduce it. If you got this far, thank you for humoring my unabahed love for this world. Happy Fantasy Day, Sulemios! ā¤ļø

Part 1 of Dream Walker
Summary:
Fingolfin goes to Angband, and Celegorm is but a witness.
Excerpt:
Fingolfin looked at him, his eyes so filled with grief and guilt Celegorm couldn't quite help but look down.
A hand cupped his face, and a thumb stroked his cheekbone with the tenderness of a parent. Something he had missed for far longer than his father had been dead. His lips trembled a little, but he kept his emotions at bay.
ā€œIt's all right, sweet boy. You can move on. Uncle will take care of this. Your life will be avenged. And so will my father's be. And so will NĆ”ro’s. Moringotto has taken and taken from me. It's time for me to take something from him.ā€
Celegorm trembled at the venom in his tone, even if it was not directed at him.
What did he mean? Nothing made sense.
For the first time, he looked at his uncle, only to find him clad in mail and paddings, ready to head out for a battle. What was going on?
ā€œWhat are you doing, Uncle?ā€
Fingolfin smiled, resigned and defeated, but so full of fire. In fact, it was the first time he could look at him and mistake him for his father.
ā€œSomething I should have done centuries ago, so maybe lives could have been spared."
His other hand reached out so now that he was holding Celegorm's head, stroking his hair like he used to, untangling the silver strands gently so it wouldn't hurt.
Then, he leaned forward, placing his forehead against his. Celegorm shut his eyes, a lonely tear escaping the tight reign of his emotions.
ā€œRest now, sweet child. I shall not be long.ā€
And then, darkness.

Crabcakes is autistic and you can't change my mind.
Eido has my heart and you will never make me hate her, so I'm bestowing upon her the highest honour I can give: The Autism headcanon. Please note that I'm autistic myself, and I see a LOT of myself in Eido, so these come from a place of love and personal experience. Some of these are based on canon info, whilst others are a bit more freeform.
Ramblings under the cut
Eido is, of course, extremely academically gifted, but she struggles with more social situations. It's why she often falls back on Old Eliksni social traditions during conversations with people she doesn't know very well or just met. This leads to her being overly formal until she really gets to know someone… For better or for worse.
E.g. How she was extremely polite and formal with Spider upon first meeting him, but has grown more willing to openly push back against him or be snarky as time goes on.
She has a bunch of sensory issues. Not massively so that they severely impact her ability to do things, but she's very particular about certain sounds, textures, tastes, etc.
She doesn't wear the standard Eliksni rebreather unit because she doesn't like the way it feels on her face. Over the years, she and Misraaks have experimented with custom rebreathers until they settled on the one she wears now, incorporated into soft cloth wrappings that cover the entire lower half of her face, rather than covering just the front of her mouth and mandibles. It looks a little strange and ramshackle, but it's what works for her.
She's sensitive in particular to smells, but she does her best not to comment on individual scent because it's considered rude in Eliksni culture.
She's fidgety and often ends up using the trinkets on her clothing or her bracelets as stimming implements when she needs to occupy her lower hands.
Whilst her main special interest is, of course, studying History (especially the tales of Old Riis from before the Whirlwind), Eido has a less known special interest in sewing and crafting.
She made the leather charm on the tonics capsule she gives the YW by hand, and did the embroidery on the front of her robes herself. She also enjoys spending time repairing or adding to her existing clothing.
Emotionally hypersensitive!!!
She gets very attached to things and struggles with letting things she loves go. Her robes made out of her old Hatchling swaddles, as she would not let them go - They bring her comfort. They're made out of old Awoken-made cloth - It was the first thing Misraaks could find after he took Eido in. Both Eido and Misraaks make sure to stock up on the cloth on the occasion that they're in the Reef, to ensure she has enough to repair or expand/replace old clothes she's grown out of.
This is an alternative take on a headcanon from JaxxCapta about her clothes being made from the same material as her Hatchling swaddles due to sensory issues, where I wanted to tie it into the feelings of sentimentality and attachment you can get with objects. (This is drawing from my own personal experience, I still have some things from when I was very young because I simply cannot bring myself to part with them!)
She takes the machine-spirit part of Eliksni religion very seriously as a result of her tendency to be sentimental over objects. E.g. How she's gendered the unreliable Shank (other Eliksni sources in lore don't seem to gender shanks the same way she does).
This sensitivity makes her really good with caring for Hatchlings, complimenting her role as a Scribe (and teacher) very well. She's able to empathise with even the silliest (to the outsider, at least) of Hatchling feelings well, and play off of them well and diffuse anger or upset before it becomes a major issue.
However, she can also be very sensitive to criticism. She's definitely gotten better at handling it over the years (and lord does she need it with Variks as her mentor now), but criticism from Misraaks about her approach to handling the hunt for the Relics of Nezarec definitely knocked her confidence and strained her relationship with him, even before Eramis spilled his secrets to her.
On Eramis: She's so patient with Eramis despite her obvious issues due to her ability to empathise so strongly. Others view it as naivety, but Eido understands that Eramis is a deeply troubled individual who has had her grief and trauma taken advantage of by the Witness. The fact others don't get it is endlessly frustrating to her. (This is basically canon info, I'm just tying this into her emotional hypersensitivity.)

The Happiest Place on Earth (TM)
by Wimble_Rose It started with a good idea. A very generous one, which read something along the lines of: hey, B has been looking really tired lately! You should try and take care of that gang stuff on your own so he can deal with Scarecrow! Surely you can handle that Tim! And because it was a generous idea, and gifts weren’t really gifts if you made a big deal out of giving them, he decided not to tell Bruce. ***** Alternatively: When Tim's birthday just so happens to align with a suspicious meeting of villains in Disneyland, Tim convinces his parents to take him there in an effort to perform a one-man anti-druglord crusade. Unfortunately, it seems Red Hood had the same idea. Featuring stoichometry, the Bat-Computer's search history, and surprising amount of feelings.
