Valentine's Day Edition: Peridot Jewelry
Cleopatra wore Peridot jewelry, which upgraded its worth and expanded public interest in it. Peridot has been valued since forever ago. Peridot mining in Egypt started around 1500 BC. Peridot is alluded to as an old Jew, and the Book of Scriptures specifies it as one of the stones utilized in Aaron's breastplate and as one of the layers in the city of New Jerusalem's establishment.

Something that I don't think ever got addressed: How old is Pearl?
If Pink's and White's pearls got swapped--possibly as punishment for something--then White wasn't always controlling Pink Pearl.
Which means our pearl (White Pearl? Rainbow Pearl?) might be way older than she thinks.
#SU on the mind because we just finished season 1#I forgot how much I fucking love these characters#SU#Steven Universe#another thought: Pearl's the mom friend because she's iridescent like... mother of pearl#get it?#also: if she ever did want to run away from gem stuff she could blend in with humans if she tried hard enough#and: I think it's kinda funny that she was never made for any kind of fighting but went through a WAR and SURVIVED#like I LIVED BITCH#I think it's funny to imagine all these nice-looking young ladies who are secretaries or PAs or something but one has learned how to STAB#can you tell I've thought about her A LOT?#I also forgot until tonight's rewatching that Peridot's way younger than all of them#her being a fucking ipad kid makes a whole lotta fucking sense#also knowing that everyone was likely gone already when Amethyst emerged: she was so fucking lonely wasn't she?#until Rose and everyone found her#also very important to me: Ruby and Sapphire are SO fucking cute OMFS#speaking of Peridot: imagine her POV#random day at work and you meet a rebellion group from a war you've only read about in history books#I also thought it was kinda funny that I'm pretty sure she sounds more feral in later seasons

Sometimes I just look at Isabeau and just know that if isat came out and I got into it when I was like 16 he would be my favorite character and I would've gone absolutely buck wild over this man and feel like he was laser targeting me. But alas Odile has a grip of steel on me rn due to her virtue of being a middle aged woman
#rat rambles#stars posting#I feel like the biggest change in my taste in characters as the years have gone by is Im now far more biased towards old ppl lol#although tbf I was also the one person in 2016 who actually liked asgore so maybe Ive always liked parhetic old ppl#but yeah the reason isa is past me bait is because hes an exploration and subversion of the sort of tropes I Hated as a kid#and I still dont like them so isa still appeals to me its just not as much as he would have to a younger me#I do genuinely love all the party very dearly tho theyre all soooo good#I think my favorite part of isabeau is how like. of everyone we get to see the least facets of him but like in a very good way#this is a man who hides and bottles shit hes so fun to rotate#his self image is so carefully controlled compared to everyone else which makes him an incredibly interesting character to analyze#and I love that despite him seeming like the most emotionally stable person here on the surface he still clearly has like. hashtag issues.#like he's in that beautiful zone where its so so fun imagining what it would look like to truly break him#<- normal things that normal ppl say. like me.#I may have my very light beef with alt looping aus as a concept but hes probably the most interesting alternate looper to me#also my light beef exclusively relates to king quest stuff which is why Im a big fan of duo looper aus with sif#but honestly. isa might be the only one that I genuinely think works better as a solo looper even with taking king quest into account#although bonnie comes close. I <3 looper bonnie I <3 seeing fictional children go through the horrors#I think theres a lot of fun to be had with any alt looper au tho I just am a huge king quest fan so I like it when my favorite elements of#it dont have to be handwaved#but yeah the real question is how would younger me feel about mirabelle#because on the one hand: acearo character#but on the other hand: I have always been a little hater abt romance so idk if younger me would rly be able to follow her character well#I wasnt exactly good at character analysis back then lol#except for the instances in which I was but I dont have that sort of faith in my younger self#yknow Im thinking abt my history of favorite characters now and I think me being one of few 2016 alphys enjoyers might have been a prophecy#she was my quote unquote third favorite but in reality she was second#I think she chara and peridot su teamed up to define my taste in fictional characters for the next several years#and somehow that lead to olivia becoming one of my favorite fictional characters of all time#I say somehow as if that isnt a very natural conclusion

It’s not in the past.
It’s not set in the past.
Why is it not set in the historic past???????????
I am. Disappointed. It’s like. Okay, so, it feels like we’re kind of getting the Kalos version of Eevee & Pikachu games. However!, instead of calling it something similar to that, it’s. It’s called a name that makes you think of ancient history. Of origins and discovery.
Maybe we’ll get lore answers and insights — hopefully we’ll get them — but it’s not going to be the same as traversing time and space to get them! To help find out how the legends started!
…granted, with the Kalos Legendary themes being life and death its entire possible there’s going to be deeper stuff happening. Then again it could also just be a sign that the new battle style is gonna send me off to meet Xerneas and Yvetal so often they get sick of me.
*sigh* …It didn’t even have to be millennial “ancient” history, it could’ve just been centurial “ancient” history…
Arceus dammit. _(┐「 ৴ ࠱)_ Happy Pokémon Day or whatever.
#totodile being my bestie again is the only upside#i was so excited to see kalos history…#i was wondering we’d get a young az & see how his bg went down maybe#was hoping to see ancestral relations to modern characters & get some tea to gasp over#instead we’re getting Pokémon: Peridot Urban Planning#woof#zygarde#pokémon#pokémon day 2025#pokémon legends z a#violet haze for violet days

Napoleon's Marshals and their Birthstones Part 2
This is part 2 of my series where I list all 26 marshal's birthstones, I'll also be adding two non-marshals to the list ;). In this post I'll go over months May through August, the format will be the same as the last post. If you want to review the terms used in the post I'll put the link to the first part here .
--------------------------------------------------------------
Emerald (May)
Marshals- Davout, Kellermann, Massena, Perignon, and Poniatowski
Type: Mineral
Group: Beryl (Be₃Al₂(SiO₃)₆)
Color: Green or bluish-green
Cleavage: Indistinct to none
Fracture: Conchoidal
Mohs Scale: 7.5-8
Luster: Vitreous
Streak: White
Fun Fact: Emerald is one of the four cardinal (most valuable) gemstones, along with diamond, ruby, and sapphire. Its value is due to the limited amount of beryllium (an element in beryl minerals) found in one location on the surface of the Earth, making it rare to find. An even rarer type of emerald is a trapiche emerald, which has the shape of a wheel, with each piece of emerald separated by the inclusion of black shale; the shale becomes less present as time passes. Its green color is due to the presence of chromium or vanadium in its chemical composition. Traces of iron make the color turn into a bluish or yellowish tint.
Pearl (June)
Marshals- N/A (Honorable mention: Joséphine de Beauharnais)
Type: Mineral
Group: Carbonate (CaCo₃)
Color: White, pink, silver, cream, iridescent, blue, gold
Cleavage: None
Fracture: Uneven
Mohs Scale: 2.5-4.5
Luster: Pearly
Streak: White
Fun Facts: Pearls are made either naturally or synthetically. Natural pearls are formed inside the soft tissue of various mollusk species like oysters and mussels when an irritant such as sand gets inside the mollusk. As a defense mechanism, the mollusk covers the object with a substance called nacre, a combination of aragonite and conchiolin. These layers build up over time until they create a pearl. Man-made or cultured pearls are formed when a small piece of a mussel shell is inserted into the mollusk's tissue, causing the mollusk to secrete nacre onto the shell piece. Under a controlled environment, pearls form a perfectly shaped sphere, rather than forming in irregular shapes like organic pearls form.
Ruby (July)
Marshals- Moncey, and Marmont
Type: Mineral
Group: Oxide (Al₂O₃)
Color: Blood red, orange red, pink, or purple red
Cleavage: Indistinct
Fracture: Conchoidal or splintery
Mohs Scale: 9
Luster: Vitreous
Streak: White
Fun Fact: Rubies have the same chemical composition as sapphires, making them the same type of mineral (corundum), the only difference being that rubies are red due to chromium in their crystal lattice, while sapphires are blue, but it does come in different colors [1]. Rubies are not only known for their use in expensive jewelry but also for having major cultural significance ranging from ancient to modern times. In ancient Greece, rubies were thought to preserve mental and physical strength. Many Greek warriors wore talismans with rubies as protection when heading into battles [2].
Peridot (August)
Marshals- Bessières (Honorable mention: Napoleon Bonaparte)
Type: Mineral
Group: Silicate ((Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄)
Color: Green, yellowish-green, olive-green
Cleavage: Poor
Fracture: Conchoidal
Mohs Scale: 6.5-7
Luster: Vitreous or greasy
Streak: Colorless
Fun Fact: Peridot can be dissolved in hydrochloric acid, creating a gelatinous silica form. It was first discovered on the volcanic island of Zabargad in the Red Sea (located near Egypt) 3,500 years ago. The largest known peridot was also discovered in Egypt, weighing approximately 319 carats. The Egyptians were very fond of peridot and believed it to be the gemstone of the sun god Ra, giving it the name the 'evening emerald.' When determining the value of a peridot, its color plays an important role. Peridots with a pure green hue are more desirable than those with a yellowish tint (high iron levels are present). Peridot is also the gemstone with the most inclusions visibly present, which can affect its value, but it is often attributed to it being part of its natural structure.

Peridot History, Mining, Healing Properties, Uses, Benefits
Peridot is a gemstone whose history is filled with mythology, lore & discovery. It is believed that the term peridot may come from the Arabic word faridat, which means gem. Some also believe that it comes from the Greek word peridona, which means giving plenty. The Egyptians mined peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad, which is now known as St. John’s Island. They believed that peridot had magical properties that included protection from nightmares and provided good luck and power. They also called it the “gem of the sun.” In Hawaiian culture, peridot is associated with Pele, the volcano goddess.

While we mainly follow Arno's personal conflicts, driven by cynicism brought on by grief over his personal relationships, I think a lot about how he viewed larger French society and the time he was living through.
There's a brief moment where, at the beginning of the revolution, he says something to the effect of, "The people want to be free!" and that's the most explicit indication of how he felt about the Revolution's role in fighting classism. It suggests that he supported the idea of the French people rising up for their rights.
He himself was raised by a nobleman, albeit in a role where he was perhaps a well-treated servant. He personally has a spat with Olivier, the head...servant? Groomsman? Whom he had to answer to.
When he kills King of Thieves, he sees for himself through his memories that François De La Serre -- despite having been a good man who became his surrogate father without a moment's hesitation -- was a pompous aristocrat himself, immediately dismissing the King of Thieves and his "affairs of rats."
Arno strikes me as an intelligent man -- emotionally, intellectually, and strategically -- underneath his shitty, shitty coping mechanisms. Like, this is the kind of person who understands why he's self-destructing and how to stop it, but spirals anyway.
So I wonder what was going through his mind when he saw for himself that François De La Serre, while having great ideals that were struck down by evil men, was in some ways someone whose own arrogance brought him down? I wonder if it was a hard lesson where he had to learn that someone who was good to him was part of the problem in his society, where the working class was underrepresented in politics and dispossessed of basic human needs?
If he hadn't been wrapped up in the Assassin-Templar conflict, would Arno have been a Revolutionary himself? Or at least a supporter?
At what point in the Revolution did he become disillusioned with it? At the start of the Reign of Terror? When the populace started scapegoating other commoners?
We mainly follow Arno's interpersonal relationships, but I think a lot of his cynicism is driven by ideology and massive historical events happening around him. We're all affected by our surroundings, even if we don't consciously feel it. He went from a young, rule-breaking man to someone who was supportive -- even optimistic -- about a revolution that could change his society, only for it to devolve into carnage and just create another system where innocent people have to suffer due to the opinions of a few influential ones.
Also, he owns a cafe where people regularly gather to talk revolution and watch plays made for social commentary. You can't tell me he isn't swayed by what he sees.
#in chinese we would call him 文武双全#he could carry both the role of a strategist and a warrior or general very well#like he's a mess but arno is actually a smart man#this is probably the first game where you have infiltration and distraction opportunities AKA strategic placements#he was evie-ing before evie#he has a great analytical mind#idk what this is i'm just thinking about how historic upheavals shape us#even when we're not consciously thinking about the times we're living in#and just watches history unfold around him#knowing it affects him but being too emotionally defeated to do anything about it#arno victor dorian#arno dorian#ac arno#ac unity#tears falling like peridots#arno#ac#assassin's creed

"Peridot: A Gem of Ancient Wisdom and Healing"
Introduction:
Peridot's Ancient Origins and Spiritual Significance Peridot, a gem with a rich history and profound spiritual significance, has been cherished throughout the ages. In this article, we'll embark on a journey to explore the captivating world of Peridot, uncovering its origins, historical associations, and its role in healing and spirituality.
The Birth of Peridot:
The Gem of the Sun Peridot, often referred to as "The Gem of the Sun," has a history dating back to 1500 B.C. Its name evolved from the Arabic word "faridata," which means gem. It was originally discovered on Topazo Island in the Egyptian Red Sea, making Peridot one of the world's oldest gemstones. This gemstone was historically known as Olivine and sometimes Chrysolite. It retains its status as the National Gem of Egypt, a testament to its enduring allure.
The Gem in Ancient History:
Peridot in Biblical Context Peridot has a significant place in history and was the second stone used to adorn Lucifer, according to the Bible. It was also listed in the High Priest's breastplate and was procured from the Hebrew word "pitdah," which translates to Topaz. The gem's most exquisite specimens are found in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan, while vibrant light green Peridots with silky luster are sourced from Myanmar. Some Peridots from Arizona are typically more yellowish or golden-brownish in tint.
Quality and Distinction:
Measuring Peridot's Worth Peridot's quality is primarily determined by its color, with pure green Peridot being the rarest and most highly prized. The most elegant Peridots are found in Myanmar and Pakistan. The gem's price depends on factors such as carat value, color, size, and overall quality. For instance, a ring with a silver frame may cost around $25, while individual stones can reach nearly $900 per carat.
Durability and Usage in Jewelry:
Peridot's Place in Adornments With a hardness rating of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, Peridot is durable enough for jewelry but should be worn with care to avoid damage. This transparent olive-green to yellow-green gemstone is used in various jewelry items, including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. The gem's beauty and versatility have made it a popular choice among jewelry enthusiasts.
The Healing Power of Peridot:
A Stone of Positivity and Prosperity Peridot, often called an "evening emerald" due to its light green color, is believed to stock positive energy. It is essential for those facing traumatic emotional circumstances and is associated with prosperity and happiness. This gemstone symbolizes strength and is recognized for its high vibrational Heart Chakra crystal properties. The Bible also mentions its healing properties, as it was worn in a frame of gold to dispel "The Terrors" of the night and safeguard against evil spirits.
Peridot for Mental Clarity and Calm:
A Gem of Love and Integrity Peridot is linked to peace, love, and probity, infusing a sense of integrity in those who wear it. It fosters open-mindedness and relaxation while promoting healthy relationship values. Amulets with Peridots offer healing for asthma and sinuses, and the gemstone's vibrant energy can dispel negative emotions, fear, depression, and jealousy, making way for a more calm and cheerful mindset.
Peridot's Vibrant Allure:
A Gemstone for All Occasions Peridot's vibrancy increases with the depth of its color, making it a standout gemstone for rings, pendants, and necklaces. Whether for personal adornment or as a gift, Peridot's charm is bound to leave a lasting impression. Its versatile and dynamic nature ensures it always looks stunning, offering a sense of vitality and connection to the wearer.
Conclusion:
Peridot, with its ancient history and multifaceted significance, is more than just a gemstone—it's a symbol of strength, healing, and love. From its biblical references to its use in healing practices, Peridot's story is one of enduring beauty and spiritual wisdom. Whether worn for its aesthetic appeal or its metaphysical properties, Peridot shines as a gem of profound meaning and timeless elegance.

Hear me out what if in empires season two (and a possible season three) since flower husbands only had one date, nature wives aren’t canon, and Joey and Xornoth was over all just weird only Lizzie and Joel’s relationship is recorded in the prerapture history books.
Then you end up with things like, “Though Scott of Rivendale could always be seen wearing a wedding band no one is quite sure who he got married to and many historians believe that he wore it to get rid of people asking for his hand in marriage.” Then an image is included and it’s a golden ring with cod carved in it and emeralds between each one.
The same thing happens with Jimmy, “The Cod Father never wedded anyone but did wear this ring, possibly to avoid the trouble of being an unmarried royal.” Then bam! It’s a white gold ring with antlers carved into it and sapphires in between each!
Then with nature wives their rings are made of dark oak wood and have a vine pattern carved into them with emeralds and amethyst for the leaves and flowers. And then historians think that these clearly aren’t wedding rings since they aren’t nearly fancy enough.
Also bonus head canon about Joel and Lizzie’s wedding rings. Joel preposed to Lizzie with a gold ring that had a diamond on it. At their wedding Lizzie gave Joel a silver ring with Lapis and Prismarine creating a glowberry pattern on it. Joel gave Lizzie a gold ring that had peridot and amber making wave shapes.
