What do you find exciting about portraying Olivia?

Which character from The Kissing Booth do you personally identify with most, and why?

I identify mostly with Elle. Navigating relationships can be hard and confusing, especially when the person you love lives far away. Having faith in your relationship and in yourself is important, but not always easy. I have been through those doubts and dilemmas. At the end of the day, communication and respect are vital to making a long-distance relationship work.

Alongside acting, you train in Vinyasa Yoga and Reiki, while also running a lighting/interior design business called MOODMAKERS. How do you cope with wearing so many hats? 

I’ve got to keep up with my lifestyle somehow! Obviously, with acting, you’re not always employed and shooting. You might constantly be auditioning, but it’s been said that you book 1 in 25 auditions—so in between, someone has to pay the bills! Why not incorporate jobs that are already a part of my daily routine and always will be?! Plus, I find that the busier I am, the more I actually get done. Educating and practicing Reiki and Vinyasa yoga are more hobbies than jobs for me; plus, they all coincide with wellbeing and creativity.

Do you have any advice for young women who would like to become entrepreneurs themselves? 

You have to think about your individual strengths and potentially use those to fill a gap in the market by providing a good or service. In my case, it was a product, in the form of a portable light. The opportunity in South Africa was the inconvenience of load shedding, which refers to rolling blackouts that occur due to the lack of electricity in our country. My father is an interior designer, so being surrounded by design my whole life sparked the idea to provide a stylish solution with portable, rechargeable lamps.

How do your experiences as a dancer influence your acting work? 

I feel very in tune with my body, and every character needs their own physicality. So it helps me to sink into and develop the character’s mannerisms. Not only is it great for keeping correct alignment while staying physical, but also it provides discipline through general practice.

You engage in charity work in your hometown, can you tell us a bit about that?

Well, recently, with COVID-19, volunteer work has changed with social distancing in place. I believe charity starts at home, and home for me is in Saint Francis Bay. So, we’ve shifted focus to the local townships’ impoverished areas. We coordinated and prepared meals once a week and delivered them to the local soup kitchen for as many residents as possible. After going there each week and seeing the living conditions, and how excited these families were for their meals, I felt guilty but also so appreciative to come home and live the life I do.

How do you practice being an ally, and what does your allyship mean to you? 

It means being a part of something bigger than yourself. My mission statement is to inspire young girls to go after their dreams, not only through my own actions and successes but also by mentoring them in person where possible. Being an ally also means being committed to educating myself on struggles that differ from my own experience and standing up for others in unjust situations.

How can mental and physical wellbeing and self-care help to sustain creative work? 

I think physicality, mental health, and self-care are as vital as working on your acting skills. This career path takes dedication and perseverance. Keeping grounded in the madness and focused on your goal is crucial. This industry is tough on your body, especially when you’re working long hours on set or doing back-to-back night shoots. It’s not the usual 9-5 job. Plus, you want to be looking and feeling your best for the camera. You need to promote wellbeing for concentration and maximum performance. Having irregular sleeping patterns due to shooting schedules throws off your circadian rhythm, which can have a huge effect on your adrenals, which ultimately affects your skin, moods, and weight. You want to feed your body with the best nutrients, so when the tough times come, your immune system holds up strong. I generally tend to stick to a gluten-free + dairy-free diet and pump my body with loads of greens! Lean proteins and healthy fats! It’s so hard to say no to sugars, so when desperate, I try to go towards the natural sugars (honey, xylitol, etc.), because if I don’t, it results in inflammation and feeling sluggish. Also, I recommend loads of water to promote glowing skin and avoid water retention! Although this might all be beneficial for aesthetic reasons, it’s also preserving your body long-term for your career! Mental health is highly important, as this industry is mentally taxing when it comes to confidence and self-love. I practice meditation every day to promote self-worth and to help me stay grounded.

One of their silliest fights would be of Atsumu wanting Reader to work for MSBY Black Jackals as manager, especially during the last two years of university, where they usually have an internship somewhere. Take note: she's in Hiroshima, he's in Osaka. That's FOUR HOURS away by train or car.

He would be so whiny about it and never let it go, even when she works for EJP Raijin. To spite him, because she's almost at her wit's end, she said she's considering Tachibana Red Falcons, because Aran's there, or, Schweiden Adlers. To which Atsumu says, "FUCK NO! IMMA GO TO HIROSHIMA MYSELF AND STOP YOU!"

She's still unaware that Kageyama's crushed on her since high school, neither does Atsumu. Unless, during Hinata's debut game, he just blurts it out during the Black Jackal's celebratory dinner.

Poor Blueberry was close to becoming a Raspberry. Atsumu was LIVID. Reader was all, "...oh."

Yes, Atsumu is an EXTREMELY JEALOUS person. He's so used to getting things and having them in tiptop shape, being the perfectionist and ambitious man that he is. However, when he got Reader, it was through sheer hard work (because we all know how what went down in high school scars them both)

One of their biggest fights was because, after university, Reader was deciding to work for EJP Raijin. Atsumu really put his foot on the door and said no. It's pretty much like that time she was about to apply for Student Council, but Atsumu stopped her. Only this time, there was no shredding of paper and they were yelling and yelling and yelling. And this is a day before her graduation, by the way!

Atsumu asked if this was her way of 'spiting him for what he did' or if 'she really doesn't want to be with him' so it's a preface to their eventual breakup.

Reader would just explain that she's come to like Hiroshima, especially EJP Raijin.

Atsumu would reason that he's really missed her and their long-distance relationship was really making it hard on him.

Reader would then realize that, she too, has been having a hard time being away from him, her first love who was now her first boyfriend.

"Osaka's an hour from home. But...does it feel new to you?"

Atsumu nods. Reader considers this, considers her options - especially because her sister was about to get married and she really missed everyone from home, her best friend included.

So yes, she eventually worked for Black Jackals.

BUT! This also means that Atsumu's more annoying than ever because he has his girlfriend working as their illustrious manager and all, 'Inarizaki's Fox Keeper' was now 'Black Jackals' Keeper' AND SHE HATES THE NICKNAME!

Coach Samson thinks it's cute, though.

Atsumu gets jealous easily, especially when Reader's assigned to welcome foreign players like Tomas and Barnes, so he'll always stick by her even going as far as welcoming them at the airport or showing them around, with his arm around her waist and calling Reader, 'bae' a lot. Again, READER DOES NOT LIKE THE WORD 'BAE'

When they get into arguments, Osamu somehow has a sixth sense and calls to reprimand his twin for harming his BFF. Like, "LISTEN HERE AND LISTEN WELL BITCH, YOU MAY BE MY BROTHER AND WE MAY HAVE SHARED A WOMB, BUT THAT'S MY BEST FRIEND. IF YOU EVER HURT HER IN ANY WAY, CONSIDER YOURSELF DISOWNED. I WON'T HESITATE TO MURDER YOU AND USE YOUR REMAINS FOR MY ONIGIRI, BITCH. WATCH YOURSELF!"

Now that I think about it, Atsumu better watch himself because it's not only Osamu who'll come for him, there's also Hinata (duh), Bokuto, Sakusa, Inunaki, Meian (fanon says he's an inarizaki alumna), Coach Samson, his seniors from Inarizaki, her kits, Ginjima, Suna (who's still in love with her btw), Reiki, Mika, Kaoru, and Uncle.

However, Reader can sometimes be at fault. When she apologizes, she's very direct about it. Atsumu, being the brat that he is for a man over 6 feet, will be pouty about it. Until Sakusa whacks him in the head.

Most of their fights get resolved easily, because Atsumu, for all his pride, cannot stay mad at her. Also, he hates being mad at her because he'll think he's become that asshole back in high school. But Reader would assure him otherwise, and Osamu (who'll either do it because he does, or because his best friend forced him to). If not, then they’re forced to go on a break which lasted about two months - they were most civilized with each other though, compared to high school. When they got back, it was because Suna beat him, knocked sensed to him, accidentally saying he loves her, and threatened he won’t hesitate to take her if he doesn’t get his act together. It’s a teary talk and reconciliation that followed afterwards.

Silly fights would also be regarding SNS - TikTok in particular, because she's being forced to do those couple stuff and she's real conscious about SNS. IG stories/posts are okay, just no dancing or those weird couple stuff please.

Is it possible to be blocked like magick or energy wise? I do not know how to put it in words but sometimes I feel like there is something that i should connect to or should be able to do but I am not. Maybe I am not idk well practiced enough but it sometimes feels like I am running against a glass wall. Maybe I Idk man. I am just really frustrated. I cant really give examples just everytime I do something magick related it feels like running against a wall and it makes me wanna cry. Sorry

Yes, of course it’s possible to be blocked!  

To clarify, your first statement about feeling as though you should be able to “connect” to something is a common beginner issue.  It may simply be that you haven’t found the thing you’re supposed to connect to yet - whether that’s opening your third eye and being able to talk to your guides, finding the deity and/or pantheon you connect most to in a religious manner, or simply opening your psychic awareness fully enough to feel the energies around you.  The best advice I can give is to experiment.  Try everything, and don’t hold yourself back!  

When I was a beginner witch, I tried everything from Wicca to demonolatry to Christian witchery, from reiki to hexing and cursing, from psychopomp work and shadow work and light work and everything you can imagine.  If you can think of it, I probably tried it in some way.  Only by putting yourself out there in as many avenues and paths as you possibly can, will you find what works for you.  If something doesn’t work, doesn’t fit or “feel right,” put it away and move on.  Read everything you can - on Tumblr, in books, in every single resource you can find.  It took me probably five or six years of exploration to figure out what generally “worked” for me, and I still feel like I’m learning and discovering new outlets for my magical expression.

An extra “something” is not for everyone.  Often in magical practices, you are the source of your own power.  Sure, crystals and herbs and grounding and gods help, but ultimately the magic is coming from you.  You might not necessarily need an extra “thing.”  Let your magic be intuitive, don’t let books or Tumblr bloggers tell you how to do your thing step-by-step.  Take spells or rituals and modify them to fit your needs - that is how they’ll be most powerful and useful for you.

But back to the topic of blockages, if you have already had magical abilities previously: I have gone through blockages myself, and they are exactly what you described here: frustrating, like hitting a wall.  Sometimes it feels as though all your “power” has been taken away, and you’re left without your previous magical agency.  You might have the thought that perhaps you were just making everything up all along, that maybe you’ve been deluding yourself.  Trust me, you didn’t, and things will get better!  

In my experience, there are two general types of blocks you can have.  I’ll outline them for you and how they can be worked through.  

The first is a bit simpler, and is more like an art block.  Lots of magic-users go through periods of this softer, mental blockage at some point or another on their path.  It can be sometimes referred to as a Fallow Period, which comes from a similar phrase in farming used to refer to when a partition of soil is meant to rest for a season or two to regain its fertility.  

A Fallow Period can arise from burnout, especially from outside sources creating stress in your life.  

Magic, especially psychic and spirit work, is infinitely more difficult when you are stressed, going through a rough mental health period, or when you are physically ill.  

Fallow Periods can also be caused through divine intervention - your spirit guides or deities may have decided that you need to take a break to focus on real life, or to focus on taking care of yourself for a little while.

Blockages of this nature eventually right themselves, but it can take time - it can last anywhere from a few months to over a year.

The best thing to do when you’re experiencing a fallow period like this is to not force it.  You are only going to frustrate yourself if you continue to attempt to perform magically and have little to no results.  Additionally, you’re going to create a deadly cycle of feeling disappointed in yourself, and eventually burn out so hard you won’t want to do magic at all anymore.

Instead, take some time to create: write poetry, draw, or paint.  Write devotional poetry.  If you want to do magical work, work on your grimoire or book of shadows.  Focus on practical magic you can do with your hands - cooking, creating items with intent, cleansing and clearing your home.

Take time to meditate and perform self-care.  Perform practical, easy meditations like the simple, free ones in the Headspace app, or find guided meditations for free on YouTube that bring you into fun, brightly colored astral spaces.  Take baths and imagine all of your troubles washing away down the drain when you’re finished.  Give yourself room to heal and just feel good about yourself.

When you feel ready to move out of your Fallow Period, it will come very naturally.  Like an urge to pick up a witchcraft book or to astral travel suddenly.  Don’t worry about easing back into it - while taking it slow might be good for some, it’s not for everyone.  If you’re really excited to get back into magic, and you’re being urged to do it right now, go ahead and do it!

The other type of blockage is a physical, energetic blockage.  These are usually sudden-onset conditions.  If one day you are performing just fine magically, and the next you wake up and you can’t feel any of your sixth senses, and you are not physically sick or particularly more stressed out than normal, you probably have a physical energetic blockage.

Ensure first that it’s an energetic blockage.  Perform a reading on yourself, check your energy centers, figure out how you’re feeling physically.  Meditation goes a long way here, as well as visualizing your energy moving through your body.  Does it seem to stop anywhere?  Likewise, do you feel extremely hopeless and drained energetically for no discernible, tangible reason (i.e. depression or a recent traumatic experience)?  Can you not even muster up the motivation to check yourself?  Then you probably have an energetic blockage.

Find an energy healer in physical proximity to you.  Trust me when I say that it is not enough to go to the local Hand & Stone and ask for a reiki massage (I have tried this for you already, and please believe me when I say it’s not going to solve your problems).  Distance healings do work and are worth it, but in my personal experience physical healings tend to be much more powerful when it comes to dismantling blockages in this way.

Ask around at your local metaphysical stores.  Find someone who is a reiki master or another type of energy healer, who has great reviews outside of what’s posted on their website and who has a great deal of experience.  Ask them if they have unedited testimonials anywhere they can share with you (such as Google reviews).  

Ask what their process is, ask to see their healing space, ask them what physical tools they use in their session.  Ask them if they’d be willing to charge a small fee for them to examine you and figure out what’s going on (don’t expect them to do something like that for free).  Remember that they should never suggest that they can heal physical ailments or claim that their services replace allopathic medicine - they should only focus on your energetic issues.  

Explain to them that you feel blocked energetically and that this is exactly what you are looking to be treated for - psychics and healers are not mind readers, and they cannot help you if they’re not told what they need to fix.  

Pay attention to your gut and what feels right.  Even in a blocked state, you always have decent access to your intuition.

I won’t lie, you will likely need to shell out a good amount of money for this.  A good healer worth their salt most likely won’t charge you less than $60 for an hour session.

If you don’t feel some kind of energetic release during your healing session, mention that to your healer.  Since you’ve already told them about your issue, they may be able to give advice as to why you didn’t feel any specific change, as everyone’s process is different and the healer you’ve chosen to work with is going to have the best understanding over the situation, after you.  Again, pay attention to your gut.  Give the healing a couple of days to set in, and make sure to drink plenty of water and pay attention to how you feel.

When I personally dealt with my own physical energy blockage, when it was finally healed it felt like a dam breaking and all of my energy flowing back into my body.  It felt like I had had one of my senses shut off, and for the switch to finally be turned back on.  Not everyone is going to feel this way, but if you’ve been blocked for a particularly long time, it may feel very strong and overwhelming to have yourself be un-blocked.

One of the questions I get more often from my readers is “How can I empower my psychic abilities?” Here are the main tips I always give. As always, feel free to share!

· Trust your intuition.

How many times do you need yo say “I wish I had trusted myself in this” before you actually do it? How much do you think your life would change if you actually followed what your soul tells you? Believe me, a lot. A whole lot. And the more you use it, and the more you trust it, the more and better it will work. Just like a muscle, your intuition needs to be exercised.

· Stop believing that it only happens to other people.

Quit the excuses, the procrastination, and the lack of commitment and accountability. If it happens to other people, it is because they have put more effort, and because they rightfully deserve it. As long as you keep believing that you are not directly responsible for your success in your spiritual path, you will never get there.

· Ask for what you want. Yes, out loud. And be specific.

You and the Creator* are at the same distance than me and the Creator, or that anyone and the Creator – at one on one distance. Everyone can pray, everyone can talk to God* and the Spirits, and therefore, everyone can receive empowerment directly from them. Just ask for it – just as it happens with your intuition, your faith really does count.

 - "energy work" is a colloquial term. It's doesn't really mean anything. Things “energy” can mean depending on context : aura, center of gravity, conscious breath, thoughts, emotions, protection, spirit, "intent" (ugh), will, power, ego, unconscious, link, information, source/origin of things manifest, spark, layer of being, Being, etheric/spirit body, essence of things manifest, magic... Keep that in mind especially when you record stuff, to avoid simplification and record the subtleties.
