#How Optimism Worked Before Fault Proofs

Exploring Fault Proofs in Optimism: An Overview

The activation of fault proofs by Optimism marks a significant advancement in Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solutions, completing the first stage of its decentralization plan. This milestone is pivotal for enhancing the network's security and trustlessness, reducing reliance on centralized entities like the Optimism Security Council. Previously, the council monitored transactions and intervened to prevent fraud, but with the new fault proof system, any party can now challenge transactions, moving towards a more decentralized and inclusive network.
Ethereum's high transaction fees have made Layer 2 scaling solutions, such as rollups, essential. Optimism's fault proofs ensure that off-chain transactions are valid by allowing a challenge period where anyone can contest a transaction's validity. If a challenge is raised, a fault proof is provided and verified by the Ethereum mainnet, ensuring that invalid transactions are reverted.
This process significantly enhances the security and integrity of the blockchain. Unlike Arbitrum, which relies on 12 validators, Optimism's fault proof system is designed to be trustless and decentralized, enabling broader participation in transaction verification.
Despite initial challenges with proof generation and verification speeds, Optimism has optimized its fault proof mechanisms to be compatible with Ethereum's Layer 1. This achievement not only improves the security and decentralization of the network but also sets a benchmark for other rollup technologies.
The activation of fault proofs highlights the importance of continuous innovation and rigorous testing in the blockchain space. For more in-depth insights and exclusive research, join our Web3 Sync community on Intelisync and Learn more...

Dear Vector Prime, can you tell us about Cybertronian elections, such as for the senate? How may political parties does Cybertron have (other than the Autobots and Decepticons, of course)? How did election change from the pre-war era to the post-war era?
Dear Interested Imperator,
At the dawn of time, my siblings and I were tasked with leading Cybertron’s people, by none other than Primus himself. The lineage of Primes continues in this tradition; the planet’s ruler is chosen by the Matrix of Leadership, and through it, by divine right. Perhaps all the more so for having lived through the Age of Primes, I am a staunch advocate for democracy—people must be free to choose their own leaders. It is an unfortunate truth that, during wartime, positions in office are filled not by elections, but by the hasty promotion of those still functioning.
There was a time, long before the war, following the schism that marked the end of the Primes’ tenure, when Cybertronian society began to experiment with new political systems, in order to unify its people once more. This was known as the Defragmentation Era, and some aspects of these reforms persist to this day. Where before, leaders would have issued software commands to their followers directly, many began to adopt the alpha builds of the “Magna Cartridges”. These ancient tapes outlined voting consensus protocols using the language of network failures, and derived “peace” from the healing of faults in networked systems. The original Council of Elders, established at this time, were a group of robots sitting in their supercomputer alt-modes, in a grand amphitheater, computing away for megacycles at a time!
Various political parties have come and gone since. The Mathematical Party dates back to those early days of laborious computation, believing that the optimal leadership candidate can be calculated from logic alone—they submit rigorous proofs demonstrating the purported superiority of their preferred candidate. Meanwhile, the Chromatic Party revolves around the concept of Polarity, fielding the candidate whose spark “color” is in sympathy with the astrological movements at that point in time. A newer voting bloc is the Axalonian Party, who have removed all weaponry from their forms and tend to inhabit the lower mantle of Cybertron, advocating for techno-organic rights for visiting species.
This paints a very basic picture for you, but I’m no political theorist. There is a huge canon of work written by Cybertronian thinkers and politicians, if you’re truly interested. Have you read any Anti-Blaze?

Monsoon is Coming: Why June Is Your Last Safe Window for Exterior Stone Cladding

Summary: Since monsoon rains are around the corner, June is the most critical month to perform your exterior stone cladding work so that there would be no water damage and unnecessarily expensive repairs in the future. This article talks about how early summer is the ideal time of the year for stone wall cladding as long as popular holiday destinations like Delhi, Goa, and Haridwar are concerned. JK Stones offers knowledgeable advice on choosing the best material, gaining knowledge about natural stone cladding costs, and obtaining long-lasting, breathtaking finishes that are weatherproof.
When it is a matter of adding beauty and longevity to your residential or commercial property, exterior stone cladding is the timeless solution. The natural beauty of stone is well-suited for character, insulation, and weather proofing. There’s only one catch—timing.
If you’ve been planning your stone cladding project, listen closely: June is your last safe window to get it done before the monsoon rains arrive. Starting cladding work in July or later risks moisture-related problems that can compromise the structure and appearance of your walls. At JK Stones, we’ve seen firsthand how well-planned summer installations outperform rushed monsoon projects.
In this blog, we’ll explain why early summer is the ideal season for exterior stone cladding and offer tips to ensure your project stands strong through the rains—whether you’re in Delhi, Goa, Haridwar, or beyond.
Why Timing Matters in Stone Wall Cladding
Stone is inherently strong, but the stone cladding exterior process uses water-sensitive products like mortar, adhesives, and sealants. Monsoon rains expose the area to high humidity and perpetual wet conditions, which can interfere with these materials to set correctly. This leads to:
Percolation of water behind the cladding
Poor bonding between wall and stone
Efflorescence (white salt deposits), algae, and mold
Early cracking and degradation
By starting your project in June, you enable the adhesives and stone to fully cure in dry weather, creating a stronger, more durable installation.
The Ideal Window: June and Early Summer
June presents the ideal window—dry enough to allow proper curing but close enough to monsoon season to avoid project delays. Because of this, JK Stones recommends that you do your cladding here:
Optimal Weather: Low humidity and lower rainfall allow adhesives and mortars to properly set.
Ideal Daylight: Increased daylight helps in speeding up drying and curing.
Pre-Monsoon Inspection: Timely execution allows enough time to inspect and correct any faults before monsoon rains arrive.
Cost-Effectiveness: Avoid rush payments and costly repair work later on account of water damage.
Popular Areas and Challenges
Delhi Stone Wall Cladding
The Delhi monsoon is unpredictable, with sudden rain and extremely high humidity. These are threats to delayed starting of cladding work. If you schedule your stone cladding installation in June, you eliminate the threat of water leakage and structural damage common to Delhi’s intense monsoon.
Natural Stone Cladding in Goa
Goa experiences long, intense monsoons, in some cases starting as early as the end of June. This only emphasizes the need to plan in advance. JK Stones suggests their Goa clients begin work on natural stone cladding very much in advance of July in order to allow firm grip and eternal splendor.
Stone Wall Cladding in Haridwar
The climate of Haridwar consists of moderate rainy monsoons but too much humid weather conditions are still a problem to the process of cladding work done during the rainy season. Pre-cladding in summer secures your walls from being weakened and resistant to moss or fungal growth.
Understanding Natural Stone Wall Cladding Price
Project planning also includes more control over the cost of natural stone wall cladding. Advanced booking of your stones and work early season generally yields the best prices prior to monsoon-fueled demand surges.
We offer competitive prices for quality stone at JK Stones and offer clearly stated quotes based on installation schedule, quality of the stone, and scope of the work. Proper planning prevents last-minute costs and delays for us.
Choosing the Proper Material for Exterior Cladding
Not every stone and cladding system is equal to the monsoon. Here’s what you should know:
Stone Type: Less porous and less dense stone like granite or quartzite is less prone to water than high-porosity varieties.
Mosaic Natural Stone: Mosaic design employing smaller units offers improved drainage and lower water absorption.
Sealants: A good quality sealant bars the entry of water in stone surfaces and joints.
Installation Process: Correct installation and waterproofing membranes render it durable.
JK Stones offers a varied range of stones suitable for exterior cladding, and professional advice on material and finish selection of the most suitable consonant with your climatic conditions.
How JK Stones Helps You Resist the Monsoon Test

WORK ETHIC AND PYTHON
It would be like the street you wanted to take being blocked off, and the bureaucratic obstacles all medical startups face, they'll be going against thousands of years of medical tradition. So programmers continue to develop iPhone apps, even though Apple continues to maltreat them. But partners and suppliers are always complaining.1 Python's goal is regularity and readability.2 I suspect that tweaking the inbox is not enough, and when you expand, expand westward.3 Why are programmers so fussy about their employers' morals? In fact, what I like about this idea is all the different ways in which it's wrong. Could it be that such laws, though intended to protect America, will actually harm it?4 If people were scanned all the time.5
In 1977 there was no doubt rather surprised by the consequences of the licensing deal for DOS, just as for tax revenues.6 One developer told me: As a result of their process, the App Store, and it's combined with the emotion Really, it's Apple's fault. There's an intriguing middle ground where you build a semi-automatic weapon—where there's a human in the loop. They like to get you to the point where you're trying to convince them to buy instead of them trying to convince you to sell.7 Auto-retrieving spam filters would make the email system rebound. The quantity of meaning compressed into a small space by algebraic signs, is another circumstance that facilitates the reasonings we are accustomed to carry on by their aid. Or the would-be successors both directly, as Roger Bannister did, by lodging the idea in users' minds that a single person could unroll the future for them. It's a little inconvenient to control it with a wireless mouse, but the overall experience is much better than Microsoft today. There are two ways delivery and payment could play out. This tradition continues today. How much of the work of optimization.8
What keeps people from starting startups is the fear of having so much responsibility. Making money right away was not only unnecessary for them, but probably would have been harmful. One of my tricks for generating startup ideas is to imagine the authorities having a sense of humor about such things over in Germany at that time.9 If you regard someone judging you as a customer instead of a judge, the expectation of fairness goes away. So if they're all squawking, perhaps there is something amiss. But it's pretty easy to make $3000 a month, because the economy is so bad is making the same mistake as the people who thought during the Bubble all I have to do that with hardware, but because software is so easy to change, its design can benefit from evolution. He showed how, given a handful of simple operators and a notation for functions, you can protest that you've been treated unfairly.10 It meant that a the only way to get software written faster was to use a more fluid medium like pencil or ink wash or oil paint.
You're lucky if your productivity is a third of what it was before. The most useful comparison between languages is between two potential variants of the same language. That was exactly what the world needed in 1975, but if Gates and Allen had decided to wait a few years, it would be useful to confront directly. Photo by Margret Wozniak. Happens all the time.11 So just as investors in 1999 were tripping over one another trying to buy into lousy startups, investors in 2009 will presumably be reluctant to invest even in good ones. They didn't sell either; that's why they're in a position of power.
Can anything break this cycle? Oh boy! In our world some of the most characteristic solutions are not far removed from practical jokes. As computers have grown more powerful, the new protocol should give more power to the recipient than email does. Next year you'll have to explain how it's recession-proof. If you're doing really well or really badly. And the Internet makes copies easy to distribute. In the past, a startup would usually become profitable only after raising and spending quite a lot of startups here.
Notes
Users judge a site for Harvard undergrads. No one wants to program a Turing machine.
Merely including Steve in the sort of person who understands how to be clear and concise, because investors already owned more than make them want you to remain in denial about your fundraising prospects.
Odds are people who should quit their day job is one problem where rapid prototyping doesn't work.
Or it may be heading for a public company CEOs in 2002 was 35,560. But if idea clashes became common enough, even though it's a bad deal. Ron Conway, for example, if you make money. 65 million.
In the early adopters. Cascading menus would also be argued that kids who went to Europe.
4%, Macintosh 18. It's surprising how small a problem so far done a pretty mediocre job of suppressing the natural human inclination to say they prefer great markets to great people. This is not how to argue: they hoped they were already profitable.
There are circumstances where this is the stupid filter, which is not much to hope for, believe it or not, don't even sound that plausible. What happens in practice money raised as convertible debt is usually a stupid move, but when companies reach a certain field, it's shocking how much they lied to them till they measure their returns.
If I were doing Viaweb again, I'd open our own Web site.
In principle companies aren't limited by the normal people they're usually surrounded with. These range from make-believe, is this someone you want to approach a specific firm, get an intro to a bunch of actual adults suddenly found themselves trapped in high school, approach the queen bees thereof and offer to invest in a large company?
1323-82.
Peter Thiel would point out that there is one subtle danger you have a different attitude to the founders of Hewlett Packard said it first, and those where the second clause could include any possible startup, as it was worth about 30 billion. This includes mere conventions, like warehouses. That sort of person who understands how to execute them. It would probably a real idea that they consisted of 50 pairs that each summed to 101 100 1,99 2, etc.

PoH is a cryptographic timestamping mechanism that allows nodes to agree on the order of events without extensive communication. By creating a historical record of transactions, PoH enables validators to process transactions more efficiently.
Tower BFT Consensus 🏰
Building on PoH, Solana uses a variant of Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) called Tower BFT. This approach allows the network to reach consensus quickly while ensuring security against malicious actors.
Gulf Stream 🌊
Gulf Stream is a mempool-less transaction forwarding protocol that enables validators to push transactions to the network before they are confirmed. This feature reduces confirmation times and enhances overall throughput!
Sealevel 🌊
Sealevel is Solana's parallel smart contract runtime that allows multiple smart contracts to run simultaneously. This capability drastically improves execution speed and resource utilization.
Pipelining 🔄
Pipelining is a technique used by Solana to optimize transaction processing by breaking down tasks into different stages that can be executed concurrently. This ensures high performance even under heavy loads!
Advantages of Using Solana 🎉
Speed and Efficiency: With its ability to process thousands of transactions per second, Solana provides an efficient platform for developers looking to build fast and responsive applications.
Cost-Effectiveness: The low transaction fees associated with using Solana make it an attractive option for both developers and users who want to minimize costs! 💵

Why Predictive Maintenance Is the Key to Future-Proofing Your Operations
The capacity to foresee and avoid equipment breakdowns is not just a competitive advantage but also a need in today's fast-paced industrial scene. PdM solutions are becoming a vital tactic for businesses looking to ensure their operations are future-proof. Businesses may anticipate equipment failure and take preventative measures to minimize costly downtime, prolong equipment life, and maximize operational efficiency by utilizing cutting-edge technology and data analytics.
The Evolution of Maintenance Strategies
Conventional maintenance approaches have generally been either proactive or reactive. Reactive maintenance, sometimes known as "run-to-failure," is the practice of repairing equipment after it malfunctions, which can result in unplanned downtime and possible safety hazards. Contrarily, preventive maintenance plans routine maintenance activities independent of the equipment's state, which occasionally leads to needless effort and additional expenses.
By utilizing real-time data and sophisticated algorithms to anticipate equipment breakdowns before they occur, predictive maintenance provides a more sophisticated method. This approach optimizes resources and lowers total maintenance costs by preventing downtime and ensuring that maintenance is only done when necessary.
How Predictive Maintenance Works
Big data analytics, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are some of the technologies that are essential to predictive maintenance. Large volumes of data, such as temperature, vibration, pressure, and other performance indicators, are gathered by IoT devices from equipment. After that, machine learning algorithms are used to examine this data to find trends and anticipate future problems.
Benefits of Predictive Maintenance:
Decreased Downtime: Reducing unscheduled downtime is one of predictive maintenance's most important benefits. Businesses can minimize operational disturbance by scheduling maintenance during off-peak hours by anticipating when equipment is likely to break.
Cost savings: By lowering the expenses of emergency repairs and equipment replacements, predictive maintenance helps save money. It also cuts labor expenses by avoiding unneeded maintenance operations.
Increased Equipment Life: Businesses may minimize the frequency of replacements and prolong the life of their gear by routinely checking the operation of their equipment and performing maintenance only when necessary.
Increased Safety: By averting major equipment breakdowns that can endanger employees, predictive maintenance can also increase workplace safety.
Optimal Resource Allocation: Businesses may maximize their use of resources, including manpower and spare parts, by concentrating maintenance efforts on machinery that requires them.
Predictive Maintenance's Future
Predictive maintenance is becoming more widely available and reasonably priced for businesses of all sizes as technology develops. Predictive models will be further improved by the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, increasing their accuracy and dependability.
Predictive maintenance will likely become a more autonomous process in the future, with AI-driven systems scheduling and carrying out maintenance chores in addition to predicting faults. Businesses will be able to function with never-before-seen dependability and efficiency because of this degree of automation.
Conclusion:
PdM Solutions has evolved from an abstract concept to a workable solution that is revolutionizing the way companies run their operations. Businesses may future-proof their operations by using predictive maintenance, which will help them stay ahead of any problems, cut expenses, and keep a competitive advantage in the market. Those who embrace predictive maintenance will be well-positioned to prosper in the future as the industrial landscape continues to change.

Microservices in DevOps: Sify Technologies Leading the Transformation
In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, agility, scalability, and rapid deployment are the keys to success for any business. The synergy of DevOps and microservices has emerged as a game-changing approach to achieving these objectives. Sify Technologies, a leader in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, is at the forefront of this transformation, helping businesses harness the power of microservices within the DevOps paradigm.
Understanding DevOps and Microservices
Before diving into Sify’s role, let’s briefly understand these two crucial concepts:
DevOps: DevOps is a cultural and technical approach that emphasizes collaboration and communication between development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops). It aims to automate and integrate the processes of software delivery and infrastructure changes, ensuring faster and more reliable releases.
Microservices: Microservices is an architectural style where an application is composed of small, independent, and loosely coupled services that can be developed, deployed, and scaled independently. This approach promotes agility and scalability.
Sify’s Contribution to DevOps with Microservices
Sify Technologies has recognized the immense potential of combining DevOps and microservices to drive innovation and efficiency. Here’s how Sify is making an impact:
1. Streamlined Development and Deployment
Sify helps businesses break down monolithic applications into smaller, manageable microservices. This facilitates more efficient development and deployment cycles. Teams can work on individual microservices independently, leading to faster time-to-market.
2. Scalability
Microservices allow applications to scale horizontally, meaning additional instances of a microservice can be added to handle increased load. Sify’s expertise in cloud services ensures seamless scaling to meet business demands.
3. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
Sify Technologies promotes CI/CD pipelines, automating testing, integration, and deployment processes. This accelerates development and ensures that software is always in a deployable state.
4. Enhanced Resilience
Microservices are fault-tolerant by design. If one microservice fails, it doesn’t bring down the entire application. Sify’s architecture expertise ensures high availability and resilience.
5. Monitoring and Management
Sify Technologies integrates robust monitoring and management tools into microservices architectures, allowing businesses to gain insights into application performance and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
6. Security
Security is a top priority for Sify. Microservices enable fine-grained security controls, and Sify ensures that security best practices are implemented at every level.
7. Cost Optimization
By optimizing resource usage and enabling auto-scaling, Sify helps businesses reduce infrastructure costs while maintaining performance.
In the digital era, agility and efficiency are non-negotiable. The amalgamation of DevOps and microservices is pivotal to achieving these goals. Sify Technologies, with its deep expertise in both domains, is empowering businesses to embark on this transformational journey. By embracing microservices within a DevOps culture, Sify is not just modernizing IT infrastructures; it’s future-proofing businesses, ensuring they can adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape. As the digital transformation continues to gain momentum, Sify Technologies stands as a beacon, guiding businesses towards a more agile, efficient, and competitive future.

the great adventures of y/n tommy tubbo wilbur and phil - i’ve got a (paintball) gun
this is part 12 to the great adventures series
an: ranboo was possibly in the Uk at this point however I don’t know when this vlog was actually recorded so I’ve decided that he’s still in the us at this moment in time i also didn’t proof read
tubbo stood near you occasionally shooting you with a nerf gun whilst you were filming a cooking video making it rather hard to focus
“you alright there Tubb-ow that fucking hurt”
“let me be in the video”
you rolled your eyes before moving to the side so tubbo could be in frame, earlier on you both went to a butterfly house and since the pair of you would have to get a train tomorrow to go record a vlog with Tommy it made more sense for him to stay at yours for the night. it took a lot longer than expected to film the cooking video as tubbo absolutely destroyed the plan you had for the video after he found out what you were making
“Surely not. you have pizza in the fridge let’s cook that instead”
“tubbo no fans voted on what is make and they chose something from the great depression cookbook it’s not my fault…heh how do you know about the pizza I got it yesterday”
“I made myself feel at home”
eventually, the pair of you finished the recipe unsurprising food from the great depression didn’t taste great so you put it in the bin whilst tubbo put the pizza in the oven. the rest of the night was surprisingly chill compared to earlier on when filming (probably because after you both had eaten you were exhausted and had a long day ahead of you) the pair of you created a song together which would never see the light of day as it was a mess but nonetheless it was a memory you would never forget, you asked your parents to take some pictures of you both so you could add them to your scrapbook you ended the night by teaching tubbo how to create a scrapbook.
at 8 am your alarm went off at 8:30 you made it to the train station a few hours later you finally arrived at your destination
“what are we doing today tubs”
“I have no idea but tommys over there with Phil and will”
tubbo dragged you over to the three of them where you were met with Tommy holding a paintball gun whilst yelling that he has a gun and that it’s ‘gun time’ tubbo went to go get the pair of you a paintball gun with the others whilst you offered to help Tommy continue the introduction
“y/n you’re going to be with tubbo and Phil sorry you can’t be on the winners team with me and will”
“oh no how will I ever survive, you seem rather confident that you’re going to win so let’s make I deal if I win I get to pick the next vlog if you win you can pick the next vlog for my channel”
“have fun facing your fears in your next vlog y/n as I’m going to win”
“sure thing tom however I never lose so have fun at the trampoline park”
tubbo ran up to you as you finished your sentence and handed you the gun that’s when you split off into two teams and made your way to start the game
“you both ready”
“I'm going to be shot several times the answer is no”
“I’ll protect you y/n”
you laughed shaking your head as much as you adored tubbo there’s no way he’d be the one protecting you in paintball you stood picking up rocks putting them in your pocket not realising the game had started until tubbo hit you with a paintball
“OI DICKHEAD THE GAMES STARTED”
“WERE ON THE SAME TEAM HAVE YOU CONSIDERED SHOUTING THAT THE GAME STARTED”
you ran straight to the bunker leaving tubbo and Phil behind simply because you had already been shot and it hurt like hell, you managed to hit Tommy a few times and occasionally was able to hit will. it didn’t take long for tubbo to catch up to you
“oh hello tubso”
“hi y/n. OW WHY DID YOU SHOOT ME”
“giving you a taste of your own medicine”
“I'm telling Phil”
tubbo found one of the grenades on the floor throwing it towards the hiding spot Tommy and will were in dragging you through the now colourful smoke which resulted in Tommy shooting you both with paintballs several times as will encouraged him to shoot wildly into the smoke
“phillllll tubbo used me as a human shield my body hurts where are they I’m getting revenge”
“tubbo…maybe don’t use y/n as a shield “
you stood with tubbo as Phil shot a paintball towards Tommy you assumed he hit him as you heard Tommy shout in pain and tubbo laughing next to you, you noticed as you continued walking to hide, tubbo was picking up the grenades putting them in his pocket
“I have rocks in my pocket tubs if I ever run out of paintballs I’m just going to throw the rocks it’ll probably hurt less too”
“y/n don’t encourage tubbo to throw rocks at people”
“quick over there we can team up against Tommy”
and that’s exactly what you and Phil did god knows where tubbo went however it did allow you to secure a win.
not long later the second round began however this time it was just you and Phil
“where the fuck is tubbo”
“I can’t believe they took tubbo he’s the best of us and they knew it”
“they took my tubbo I’m getting revenge also rude I’m pretty damn good with a gun”
you both ran to the next hiding spot creating a plan to get your best friend back and hopefully win the game, you ended up hearing tubbo shouting in the distance, you and Phil agreed you'd run first probably getting their attention and Phil would follow about a minute later
“hang tight tubso I’m coming for you”
the plan worked you successfully made your way to where tubbo was guaranteed you got hit with paintballs a lot but you also managed to get some good hits back as did Phil. as soon as Phil made the grenade go off you quickly climbed up the steps and made your way to tubbo whilst hitting the others with paintballs whilst Phil made his way up after you
“I ran out of paintballs tubbo can I borrow your gun”
“we surrender we surrender”
“Phil…y/n you saved me”
“I am in pain”
it was now time for the third round
“I've played capture the wool in hypixel don’t worry guys I’ve got this”
“y/n you lost every game”
“tubbo didn’t you get captured for the entirety of the last game…hmm”
“will you two stop and just run to the tower”
tubbo ran straight to the tower but you decided to ‘accidentally shoot tubbo’
“Y/N”
“SORRY I WAS UM JUST TESTING IF MY PAINTBALL GUN WORKED YOU JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE WAY”
once in the tower you and tubbo aimlessly shot at the others while Phil left to go capture Tommy and wills flag
“so tubbo how’s your day”
“not too great bossman I got captured, shot, betrayed by my so-called best friend”
“betrayed…you’re so dramatic”
“I'm leaving”
“I’m not defending the flag then”
you laughed as tubbo left the tower standing next to Phil coming up with a new plan
“tell me you didn’t leave y/n to defend the flag”
“I CAN STILL HEAR YOU BOTH”
tubbo and Phil ran to attempt to capture their flag whilst you stood defending the flag, you put up a decent fight getting strong hits on Tommy however he was able to capture the flag before Phil or tubbo could capture their flag, you continued to hit Tommy several times as he ran back to his team’s tower, however, in the end, he was able to make it back scoring a win for his team
“don’t even think about blaming me you two”
it was now time for the final, you had one aim and one aim only…defend the briefcase
“oh these little shits”
you and tubbo looked at each other before nervously laughing you all had been shot enough and honestly you were all in pain you just wanted to win and get this over with.
“We have 10 minutes guys we’re fine”
“y/n I admire your optimism”
“I could be brutally honest and tell you both that we’re probably going to lose if we don’t come up with a plan”
and with that the three of you started creating a plan which wouldn’t be used as you were going to end up staying close to tubbo, you all started pretty strong you and tubbo stayed together the entire game giving the pair of you extra strength compared to the others as you worked together. you and tubbo left Phil to do his own thing mainly because you had forgotten the plan you created earlier.
“y/n here’s the new plan wherever I go you go and we have to defend each other”
“hey tubbo look I found a shield…you stay behind me and tell me where to go as I can cover us both”
you ended up losing that round but it doesn’t matter you had faith you would win the next round
“so all we have to do is defend the briefcase”
“y/n stay with me”
you and tubbo proved to be a great threat as tubbo would point to where either will or Tommy was and the pair of you would shoot at them whilst Phil would aim for the other person
“good shot Phil”
“thanks y/n”
you were all doing a pretty good job of defending the briefcase you would often whisper to tubbo that you were convinced they were about to surrender
“surely not”
“tubbo look at them they’re in pain they’re going to surrender I bet £10 and being the first to hug ranboo at the airport that they’ll surrender deal?”
“deal”
you all aimed at will scoring many hits practically encouraging them to surrender, Tommy eventually got wills gun and started aiming at you all mostly hitting you and Phil making tubbo laugh
“I hate you right now tubbo”
“sure thing bossman”
you noticed Tommy was in serious pain and started feeling bad for him however you pushed that feeling aside as you really wanted to win every bet you had made earlier so you continued to aim for your best friends
“YOU WIN”
you looked at Phil who was clearly proud of his team before looking at tubbo before tackling him into a hug
“we fucking won I told you they’d surrender you now owe me £10”
“I'll give it to you when we go to pick up ranboo”
after putting everything away you made your way to Tommy to check that he was okay
“you okay Tommy? you did great, that was a pretty smart tactic during capture the flag”
Tommy pulled you into a side hug as he thanked you before congratulating you on your win
“you and tubbo best make your way to the train station before you miss the train, call me when you're at tubbos”
“will do see you soon!!”
“see you after you’ve finished isolating”
“…heh”
tubbo walked over to you both laughing as he noticed everyone but you knew what was happening from tomorrow
“your parents dropped off a bag of clothes etc at mine so we can just get the train straight to my house we should probably sleep earlier as we have to get up ridiculously early tomorrow to pick ranboo up from the airport”
time flew by rather quickly as before you knew it you were sat on a bench with tubbo waiting to meet ranboo
“tubbo ranboo just sent me a text he's here”

IF I were to write a Maribat fic
It would be mostly a played for comedy and drama take on “Marinette picked up this whole Bat thing way too quickly.”
Like, post Miracle Queen, Marinette is just overtaken with so much guilt about Master Fu and is also desperate for a new mentor to be a replacement and a distraction from the blame she puts on herself and the burden of being the new Guardian. She is absolutely sure she is not ready to be in charge.
She calls Damian and asks for an audience with Batman. Damian is like, “Oh, isn’t this the girl who kicked me out of Paris? What was it you said? ‘No Gothamites in my city.’ Isn’t that what you said? Didn’t you say you can’t have our “type” of vigilante in Paris, because we’re too, what was it, overemotional? Is this that girl who is on my com right now? The one who rejected joining the Teen Titans? That’s you? You want me to TALK to my FATHER? I would barely ask him a favor for someone I actually LIKE.” Except then she kind of blows up at him and tells him the situation, and Damian gets real quiet and listens, and he feels a little sick because he’s remembering the Ric Grayson situation and also Alfred’s most recent death, which he ALSO blames himself for, so like... they got shit in common. He says he’ll talk to Batman about a video call.
Cut to three months later, Marinette has just THROWN HERSELF into being Batman’s disciple. She calls him Master. She practices fighting day and night out of the suit, and IN the suit she uses her powers for training and is often seen sprinting for miles or scaling the Eiffel Tower with only her upper body strength. She comes to school covered in bruises and with the darkest circles under her eyes, and her friends are WORRIED, they really are, but she’s like 80% less bubbly then usual, so no one is really confronting her and are just silently wondering what the heck happened. Most people assume that this has something to do with her taking Adrien and Kagami being an official couple really hard.
For fashion design, well. Marinette has gotten really into armor lately.... huh. (It’s because the Batfam encourages her to not rely on a magic suit that can turn off at the worse time, and she is convinced she must be prepared to be Ladybug at any and all times. If anything, she’s lamenting that she doesn’t know how to make weapons.) (She got a grappling hook styled like a yo yo as a present from Master Bat.)
She texts Kagami out of the blue one day like, >>Hey. Come over. I am in the process of making my masterwork >>Oh and bring a sword >>A sharpened one, not a training sword And Kagami comes over to see a twitchy (”ok that’s pretty normal”) super serious (”well that’s not. she’s usually so flighty and indecisive”) Marinette. And in the place where there was once an Adrian shrine and stalking schedule is now what seems to be a Hawkmoth shrine and stalking schedule. Marinette brings out what looks sort of like shiny silk with jewels woven in, and Kagami’s assumption is corrected. No. It’s a polymerized titanium she synthesized herself with light elemental defense crystals woven in by hand. Marinette is very proud. It’s a prototype. She plans on making a material that can be beautiful formalwear and as stab-proof as any kevlar. But it’s still a prototype so Kagami can you pretty please do some slashing and stabbing on it pretty please? See she wants it to be really good before giving it to her other Sword Friend, because Dami is a really harsh judge, and her motivation just won’t be able to take it if she gets notes from him this early on in the process. Kagami is actually really on board and helpful in this venture.
She does like indirectly ask Marinette if she’s heartbroken of if she’s with Luka or what have you, and Marinette just gets really harsh and says she has other priorities. She also makes some grandiose proclamation that neither of them are good enough for Adrien, because Adrien is pure goodness, he’s kindness and forgiveness personified, and it’s just... it’s just... it would be really clear to anyone who has ever heard Batman wax poetic about Superman where she is getting this highkey cringe behavior.
She’s on video calls with Batman all the time. They definitely have a conversation that goes something like this:
“I am certain the mean girl from my school is working for my main supervillain.” “Good. You can find him through her.” “Yess! I have been looking forward to the chance. I am going to interrogate her.” “Ladybug, no.” “I am going to tie her up with my yoyo and dangle her over the highest skyscraper in Paris and tell her I’ll drop her if she doesn’t tell me the identity and location of Hawkmoth.” “Befriend her at school and track her movements.” “Ok but wouldn’t it be quicker to dangle her off a building?” “You’re letting your emotions about someone from your civilian life interfere with your judgement and letting yourself act hastily and with negligence, which is exactly how you lost your first mentor.” “Ah....... you’re right. I’m sorry, Master. I won’t be reckless.” “Good. Tap her cell phone.”
As for Chat Noir, he is FREAKED OUT by her change and all the secrets she’s keeping now. And her behavior towards him has REALLY changed. Well not too much, but it’s noticeable in a way that unnerves him sometimes. Like she’s become a super serious workaholic, but she’s also insanely protective of him, to the point where he feels a bit resentful that he’s not being treated as a competent partner. He’s really trying to get Ladybug to talk out what she’s going through, and he’s anxious all the time that she’s on the cusp of becoming akumatized. Honestly, he’s not wrong on that part. He knows that this is all because she blames herself for Master Fu, and he is also aware that she is spending much more time in contact with that Robin from Gotham who they met once or twice, and he knows she’s keeping some secrets, but NO he is not aware for at least half of the story that she is being remotely trained by Batman. She’s telling him to shut up a lot more and bossing him around more and seems to know way more about Hawkmoth’s movements than him and it feels like he’s out of the loop, but she’s also, like, often spewing out how important he is to her as her partner and keeps giving him handmade pastries and saying, “An army crawls on its stomache,” so like honestly wtf mixed signals much
Batman agreed to mentor her temporarily and has been trying to find someone else from JL to take over, preferably Wonder Woman or Flash, because he agrees with Ladybug’s assessment that to be a hero in Paris it is necessary to have weaponized optimism, or Zatanna or Shazaam, because they could train Ladybug in her magic hopefully. He is told several times that it would be easier to get her mentorship if she agreed to join Teen Titans or Young Justice, which of course they all know, so thanks, but Ladybug would def refuse to leave Paris and her partner, so her joining YJ isn’t really up for discussion.
Flash said that she’s great but that, “She’s SUCH a Bat,” and that clearly she’s so attached to him that she should just stay one of his. Batman asserts that she is only being like this because she is desperate for a mentor, and if someone else took her on, she’d probably/hopefully change again just as fast. Flash says he isn’t so sure, and that at this delicate point in time, being handed off to someone else might, like, retraumatize her or smth.
Ladybug literally started breaking fingers interrogating someone.
It is on camera.
The LadyBlog is in SHOCK.
No one knows what to do.
Even Hawkmoth sees the video footage and is like, “Jeez, am I... Mayura, are we in over our heads here? Did we break the teen hero? Is this our fault?”
Anyway, those are all my favorite ideas of the ones I’ve daydreamed so far. There is also stuff about how she interacts with the other members of the Batfam and that she uses the Horse Miraculous to travel to Gotham to be trained in hand-to-hand and also to just sob for hours and scream at things because she CAN’T let her emotions out like that in Paris and the bafflement of the Batkids like “you... came to GOTHAM... to NOT repress your emotions. um, k.” And Cass loves her and thinks she is Baby Sister and if someone is mean to baby sister in front of her she will stare into your soul until you are quiet ect ect many ideas.
The reason this is an IF and not a WHEN:
dudes I have no plot

By Hook or by Crook (7)
“So! How does it look?” Toshinori asked, with a booming voice and his best hands-on-hips pose to kickstart the endeavor with a healthy dose of enthusiasm.
He wasn’t particularly successful.
“Daunting. Impossible. Like I’m gonna die of old age before I’m anywhere close to making a change.”
“A little optimism goes a long way, you know?”
“...I may not die before I’ve lugged away some of this.” Midoriya amended tentatively, scanning the extensive length of garbage-filled beach stretching before them. “And… what doesn’t kill me will make me stronger?”
“That’s the spirit!” Toshinori gave him a pat on the back, strong enough to make the boy stammer forwards. He walked around the back of the truck and started unloading the few supplies he’d brought.
“Wear these.” Toshinori threw him a pair of work gloves. He hoped he’d eyeballed the size right. “I trust you’re up to date with all your vaccines.”
“Uhm.”
“Hopefully no one’s dumping organic waste in here, but I’ll bring some traps if you see any rats. They won’t solve the problem, but it’s better than letting them scurry around freely.”
Midoriya’s eyes darted between the gloves and the beach with muted horror. “R-Rats?”
“Scared of rats?” Toshinori couldn’t help but tease. “Did I mention that I had to wade through the sewers for half an hour before finding you and the sludge villain the other day?”
Midoriya instantly looked mortified. “I-I’m sorry-”
“Not your fault! Don’t apologize!” Toshinori tossed his hands in the air. This kid desperately needed to learn the basic mechanics of humor. “I’m just saying that heroes can’t be squeamish! Rats come with the job, as well as a variety of nasty stuff and filth.”
“Right.” Midoriya followed him as Toshinori, cooler in one hand and bag of papers in the other, sat down on the last steps of the stairs. He picked an egg sandwich for himself and fished a folder out of the bag, opening it on his thighs and starting to read it.
It took him a few seconds to realize that Midoriya was still staring at him, as if awaiting further instructions.
“Well? Have at it!” Toshinori gestured widely at his new playground.
“Oh, uhm, okay.” The kid donned the gloves and took a single step towards the piles before pausing to look at Toshinori again. “I thought you wanted to ask me… stuff.”
“Yes, but I’m not sure you can handle working and talking at the same time without building up some stamina first.” Toshinori answered, eyeing the boy’s scrawny frame critically. “We’ll talk while you’ll be taking a break to catch a breather, which is probably going to happen sooner rather than later.”
“Oh… All right.” Midoriya turned away, his arms hanging limply from hunched shoulders as he muttered to himself. “...Where do I even start...?”
“From the small things. Working your way up to the heavier objects.” Toshinori explained patiently, then gave him a pointed look. “I get the feeling you’re procrastinating.”
The boy approached the closest stack… and did nothing. Was he ever going to stop waffling and get cracking? “Meanwhile, you’ll just, uh… do your own thing?”
“Surely you don’t need me to guide you through the elaborate process of moving objects from point A to point B, do you?” Maybe the kid detected the hint of annoyance in Toshinori’s voice, because he finally, finally set to grab the closest piece of junk- “...Oh. Okay, that’s not a great start.”
“What?” Midoriya stopped halfway through picking up what was probably the first electric fan ever invented, all the way back in the Iron Age. “I haven’t even done anything yet!”
“Bend your knees, not your back. Otherwise you’re going to- do you really not know this? Isn’t the correct way to lift weights Household Chores 101?”
“Oh, right, I know.” Midoriya rearranged his stance in a way that was less likely to earn him a slipped disk within the next two hours. “Do people really lift things like this though? It’s… a lot harder than the normal way.”
“For your legs, yes. For your back, no. You’ll thank me when you’ll be old enough to realize you aren’t made out of rubber.”
Toshinori munched slowly while he watched the kid carry his first loads to the truck. That act alone seemed to distract Midoriya to an amusing degree, his gaze often flicking to meet Toshinori’s eyes for just a moment before shooting back in front of him with blatant self-consciousness. Toshinori allowed the boy a few minutes of warm-up, just the time for him to finish his sandwich and sip a small cup of apple juice, before deciding to kick things into proper gear.
“Running from the truck to the heaps and vice versa would help you gain some endurance too, rather than leisurely strolling back and forth.” Toshinori commented as Midoriya walked past him.
The kid stopped in his tracks and regarded him with a mix of horror and aversion that vaguely reminded him of death-row inmates when faced with their executioners.
“What?” Toshinori went on, unperturbed. “Are you expecting to get fit without getting tired?”
“No, of course not-”
“Besides, you’ll need to keep a swift pace if you want to clear the whole beach before the admission exam.”
“Wha- All of it?! Before the…” Midoriya sputtered, arms wrapping more tightly around the broken chair he was holding as if that was supporting him instead of the other way around. “Y-You never said…”
“But of course! They don’t do things by half measures in U.A., so why should you?” Toshinori grinned. “Plus Ultra, am I right?”
Midoriya let out an incredulous chuckle. “You’re kidding, right? There’s no way I can do something like that...”
“Depends on how much elbow grease you’re willing to put into it.”
Midoriya’s expression shifted minutely as he caught onto Toshinori’s seriousness. “But… but that’s impossible! No matter how hard I work, I can’t- I can’t move stuff like that!” He griped, pointing at the wrecked husk of a van half-buried under a mound of assorted refuse. “Even if I do my best-”
“And pray tell, what’s your best?” Toshinori stood up and walked to the kid, ditching the whimsical demeanor. If playful cajoling wasn’t enough to stir him, maybe it was time to bust out the big guns. “What’s the heaviest you can lift? The fastest you can run? The hardest you can push yourself? When’s the last time you actually tried your very best, and how did it fall short?”
Toshinori was already well and truly spent for the day, but he let the provocation and drive in his words stoke the fire within him, and it flared. The Symbol of Peace broke out of his diminutive shell among dramatic wisps of steam, ready to bestow his wisdom more effectively than his rickety counterpart ever could.
“Do you know what’s the only way to gauge your limits? Reaching them. And the only way to get stronger?“ Toshinori held out his arm between them, and clenched his fist resolutely. He relished the sensation of unyielding muscles tensing and bulging under his skin, tangible proof of the truth of his assertions. “Gritting your teeth and smashing past them! Little by little, but constantly!”
Midoriya had only witnessed that transformation once, poorly and by accident, and it showed. The chair had slipped from his hands without him even noticing, and now lay forgotten at his feet on the bare sand. The kid was gawking at him with wide eyes and mouth agape, the very picture of spellbound rapture. It was far from an unfamiliar reaction from whoever was graced by the Symbol of Peace’s presence, and yet it was still flattering, every time.
“You’ll never improve if you keep dwelling on what you think you can do now. Focus on what you want to do next. Visualize it as a clear goal. Build an image out of it, and then carve it in reality. If you really want that van to move, then it will move. If you really want this beach to be clear, then it will be. But you have to put your back, sweat and heart into making it happen!”
All Might captivated his one-man audience with the usual effortlessness, boisterous showmanship and honest positivity deeply intertwined in a way that boggled his detractors’ minds, but that felt so natural and appropriate to Toshinori. He’d made an art out of it, down to the rumble of his voice and the firmness of his gestures and the levity of his attitude, the art of highlighting and displaying the very best parts of himself so that they could resonate louder, better, brighter.
“So what will it be, young Midoriya? Will you clean up this place within the next ten months or not?”
“Y-Yes. I will.” That had done the trick. It was obvious from the way Midoriya’s back straightened and his expression toughened. It was obvious from the spark kindled in his eyes, a reflection of Toshinori’s own passion, still lacking in heat but full of potential.
“Then you’d better get down to it!” The hero sealed the deal with a radiant smile and a thumbs up. “Time’s a-wastin’!”
“Yes, sir!” Midoriya picked up the chair and dashed towards the truck to unload it there, then he immediately bounced back down the stairs and towards the nearest heap of waste. Toshinori observed the boy’s next rounds with his unwavering smile and few approving nods that kept the kid a bit lighter on his feet.
How much easier it was for All Might to touch people’s hearts. How much easier to inspire, to reassure, to nurture. How much easier everything was for All Might, really. If only that shining beacon of hope wasn’t shackled by the whims of a withering body, how much richer society at large would be for it.
Toshinori let out a deep exhale that took more than just air out of him, and the flame settled down to a low glow. He couldn’t hold back a few wet coughs, and he promptly turned his shrunken back on Midoriya’s concerned glance to sit back on the cool steps.
Unfortunately, there was a lot more than motivation to strength training. Right off the bat, Toshinori could tell that Midoriya wasn’t going to last twenty full minutes of workout. He honestly didn’t know that an ostensibly healthy individual could reach the ripe age of fourteen with such poor body awareness. The boy had coordination and balance on par with a toddler’s: he stumbled on his feet, he tripped on sand, he nearly fell off the stairs twice before realizing that trying to climb them while his view was obstructed by the very items he was carrying might be a less than optimal solution. He seemed to be unaware of the existence of entire muscle groups, and Toshinori had to physically get up and mime movements for him to understand how to exert force more efficiently. Not to mention that he needed incessant needling lest his sprints quickly devolved into lax jogs.
This whole training thing was going to be… an interesting experience, Toshinori could already tell.
Exactly sixteen and a half minutes later, the boy all but collapsed on the stairs beside Toshinori, gasping for air and wiping his forehead on his sleeve.
“B-Break?” He pleaded, quite redundantly.
Toshinori took pity on his plight and pushed the cooler in his direction. “Have a drink.”
“Oh, thank you…” The lack of polite refusal made Toshinori suspect that Midoriya had forgotten to bring his own water.
“There’s sports drinks and fruit juice in there too. Save the snacks for after you’re finished, food and heavy workouts don’t always agree with each other.” Toshinori had packed food primarily for himself, expecting their after-school meeting to last long enough for him to slot in one or two meals in the meantime, but he had taken care of adding a few extras for the kid. A good idea, because the possibility of Midoriya face planting on the ground halfway through out of sheer exhaustion seemed more and more likely by the minute.
“Thank you, you didn’t have to…”
“I promised bribes, didn’t I?”
Midoriya flashed him the tiniest smile, and eagerly drank some water while Toshinori retrieved a small journal and a pen from the other bag. He skimmed through the list of preliminary topics he’d scribbled on the first page under Tsukauchi’s advice, wondering which one he should tackle first.
“All right.” Deciding to follow his instinct in spite of basic common sense, Toshinori decided to begin from the end. “These phone calls of yours. Give me an idea of what they’re like. The last one you had with your father was on April 1st, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Tell me about it. Everything you talked about, as precisely as you can remember it.”
The good thing was that Midoriya’s memory was very accurate, and he was able to recall the whole conversation basically step by step. The less good thing was that said conversation was largely commonplace and unremarkable, consisting of very ordinary small talk and inquiries about school, grades, news, local events-
“Quirks?”
“Mh-hm.” The boy nodded. “We always end up talking about quirks, in one way or another. Quirks and heroes. It’s always been… a common interest.”
“Always, uh?”
“Yeah, we’ve been doing it since… forever, really. I’ve always found quirks fascinating, and he has lots of great insight to offer.”
“I can imagine...” Toshinori mumbled. Asking who had initiated that habit was probably pointless, it sounded like it had started too early in the boy’s life for him to remember - or even to understand if he had been deliberately led to develop that interest. Some intriguing nature-versus-nurture speculations could be made on the matter, but they weren’t likely to aid Tsukauchi’s case. “And in what way do you talk about them?”
“We… analyze them, discuss them. What is known for sure about a certain quirk, what can be deduced from footage and descriptions of its use, what its unmentioned limitations might be, how it could be further developed… You saw my notebook, right? Basically the kind of stuff that’s in there.”
“Wait.” Toshinori blinked. Could he have already stumbled into a treasure trove of All For One-certified information? “You mean that all that’s written in that notebook was dictated by your father?”
The kid almost choked on his next gulp of water, and shot Toshinori an almost offended look. “No! No, no, it’s all stuff I found out on my own! Well, almost all of it, there are some additions of his here and there, but… Uh, I’d say at least 90% of it is mine, and 10% of it is his… Actually, more like 95% and 5%-”
Well, that sounded less promising, but it was still a lead. “So he’s been basically teaching you how to conduct your own quirk analyses?”
“Well, I wouldn’t say teaching. I wish our school teachers were that engaging...” Midoriya let out a small sigh. “But I guess we do go about it a little like with school essays. Research, deadline, discussion and all that…”
“Pardon?”
“Well, every month we decide which heroes or quirks we’re going to talk about the next time - back in March we chose Hawks, Kido and Snatch for last month’s call, for example. During the rest of the month we gather information and draw our conclusions, and then we compare them during the next chat.”
“You’ve got quite the well-oiled routine going on there, haven’t you?”
“Actually, I think it’s just to give me a chance to make my own deductions with a clear head instead of on the fly.” Midoriya scratched said tousled head in embarrassment. “I bet he doesn’t even need to do any research, he’s always on the top of his game. I’ve never been able to, uh… one-up him, you know? He always knows what I’m driving at, and somehow he always brings my hypotheses two or three steps further than where I stop.”
Toshinori answered with a non-committal hum. No surprise there, the man was a living quirk storeroom complete with its own self-congratulatory, sentient database. “You don’t seem too bothered by it though.”
“Oh, I’m not. It’s not like he’s ever… disappointed or angry or anything, even if I don’t get stuff. He just enjoys chatting, I guess.” That he surely did, Toshinori grimly thought. Way too much. “And I do too. It’s kind of like a game. Or a challenge.”
“A challenge?”
“Yeah, uh… How can I explain…?” The boy drummed his fingers on the bottle as he collected his thoughts. “Okay, for example: one of the first things dad asked me about Hawks was what shape his wings are, and what I could deduce from that about his flight capabilities. Which was a trick question! I knew it as soon as I heard it, because I’d already figured out the real answer during my research.”
“Ah.” Toshinori blinked. “And… how is that a trick question, exactly?”
“Because Hawks doesn’t actually fly! Not like a bird, at least, so his wing shape doesn’t matter!” Midoriya beamed, and suddenly Toshinori realized that that was the first real, genuine, enthusiastic smile the boy had given him since they’d met. And, without exaggeration, not crying, panicking or grimacing made him look almost like an entirely different person. “He simply can’t! Humans can’t fly even if you stick a pair of wings to them, they’re just too heavy! Other heroes who can fly properly are mostly transformers, like Ryukyu - their whole bodies change when they shift, bone structure and all - but Hawks’ body is entirely human if you exclude his wings.”
Midoriya reached for his backpack and drew out the same charred notebook Toshinori had signed days earlier. An item so vital to the kid’s daily life that he always had it with him, apparently, even more essential than beverages during a workout session. A peculiar, if questionable, trait.
“What Hawks actually does isn’t flying, it’s levitating!” The kid held the notebook open before Toshinori’s eyes on a spread page dedicated to the hero in question. “He uses the second facet of his quirk, the telekinesis that allows him to control his feathers singularly! That also explains his incredible speed, which is completely unjustifiable if you only take into account normal bird flight aerodynamics. His propulsion is powered by his feathers - and each of them is quite speedy and powerful on its own, so it stands to reason that he would be lightning-fast when his wings contain so many of them pushing him in unison!”
Toshinori politely elected to wait for the onslaught of words to subside on its own, although he already suspected that it was a little like standing right under a waterfall and waiting for someone higher up to turn off the faucet.
“That said, that doesn’t explain everything about his quirk… For example, a single feather of his is capable of lifting and transporting an adult person, that has been extensively documented. Yet, he loses the ability to levitate relatively soon after dispatching too many of them - he becomes unable to float even when he still has at least several dozens of them attached to his body. We couldn’t figure out why that happens with the information we have. Maybe it’s harder for him to apply his power to himself, that is often the case for emitters. Maybe it messes with his proprioception, and he can’t control the feathers he hasn’t detached as finely as all the others…”
If there was one thing Toshinori was absolutely certain of at this point, it was that the kid wasn’t short on breath any more. “And this is the part you inferred on your own.”
“Yep! And dad agreed with all of it!” Midoriya’s smile grew even wider. It was astonishing how much it didn’t look like dad’s deranged, shark-like, nightmare-inducing sneer, and Toshinori could only send a quiet thanks to the heavens for that. “This is all guesswork though. Do you… by any chance, do you know if we were on the right track? I’d be really curious to know…”
“Ah, I can’t help you there, kid.” Toshinori felt suddenly on the spot. “I’m not acquainted with Hawks, nor do I know more about his quirk than the average person.”
“Oh, I thought… Since you’re both- I mean, I thought All Might may have met him during the billboard chart events, what with them both being in the top ten.”
“We passed by each other, yes, but we were never properly introduced. He wasn’t particularly interested in rubbing elbows with the old guard, I suppose.”
“Oh. Well, that’s his loss, for sure.” Midoriya, funnily enough, pouted. “Pity, I was wondering… Even if he doesn’t fly, he does flap his wings in a way that resembles a bird’s. I wonder if that’s intentional, to mislead opponents and prevent them from figuring out how he actually moves. Or maybe he does it subconsciously…”
“I’m afraid I really don’t know…” Toshinori had never met Hawks on the field either, it wasn’t common for accidents to require more than a single big-name hero to intervene these days. Especially if one of them was the number one, who often showed up first and invariably solved any incident in mere minutes-
Toshinori suddenly came back to himself and almost facepalmed in frustration. Why was he letting himself be interrogated about completely irrelevant hero trivia? He was the one asking questions! God, he was bad at this. “And your father had nothing to contribute about all this?”
“Not about this specifically, but he did raise a point I hadn’t considered.” Midoriya looked up at the sky, once again lost in his very wordy, very deep lucubrations. “Hawks has an astonishing control on his quirk. He can use his telekinesis to move hundreds of feathers at once, to sense his surroundings, he can even harden them and turn them into weapons. He made Fierce Wings into an incredibly versatile ability, and he’s so young too… And yet, there’s no record of him attending any hero school or training facility in Japan, nor abroad. He claims to be self-taught, but… admittedly, it is hard to believe. One would think he must have had some excellent education and tutoring to make it into the top ten when he was only eighteen…”
Toshinori didn’t reply. Midoriya looked back at him when the silence stretched, and whatever he spied on Toshinori’s face made him immediately backpedal. “I-I mean, it’s odd, but, uh… not suspicious per se, nor a sign of anything… weird or bad about him. There are many heroes who, ehr, prefer to keep their personal history private, especially geniuses, and that’s fine! They have all the right to! Same goes for their quirks, it makes total sense-”
Toshinori massaged his left temple slowly. Right, better just nip this topic in the bud before it got irredeemably out of hand.
He peered again at the notebook in Midoriya’s hands. So All For One had been imparting occasional, amicable quirk analysis lessons to the kid for a good decade, which sounded suspiciously like the kind of knowledge a potential underling or successor might use. On the other hand, Toshinori could think of a million other ways for the Symbol of Fear to instil skills in his son - all of them remarkably more efficient, safe, manageable and ruthless. The whole thing was contradictory in a way that didn’t sit right with Toshinori.
“Mind if I take another look at that?” Toshinori had been in a bit of a rush the first time round, and he’d only taken a cursory glance at the contents of Midoriya’s notes. But if there was a chance of those pages containing words uttered by All For One himself, a more thorough examination was in order.
“Not at all! But, uh…” Midoriya was fast to hand out the item, but his eagerness to assist was even faster to dampen. “Are you going to retain this as evidence too?”
“Mh, I don’t think that will be necessary...” Right, the poor kid’s house had probably been ransacked even further after Toshinori and Tsukauchi’s first pass. No wonder he was worried about losing this prized possession too. “But if it will be, I can make a copy of it for you to keep, so you won’t lose all your, uh, data.”
“Oh, thanks! That would be great!” The kid perked up instantly. He was so easy to please. “Although… I guess I should make a copy of it myself anyway. It’s already kind of… unrecoverable. I could detach the pages with All Might’s sign and preserve those separately, and just photocopy everything else…”
Toshinori’s imagination mercilessly supplied him with the picture of a new addition to Midoriya’s bedroom decor, his five-second poorly-made signature hung to a wall in an elegant frame. He repressed a groan, deliberately neglected to point out that he could simply provide as many new authentic signs as needed, and directed his attention back to the scorched edges of the notebook. “Right… What happened to this thing, anyway? Did someone put it in a toaster?”
Midoriya let out a totally not nervous chuckle as he wrung his hands in a totally not nervous fashion. “Oh, uhm... You know…” Toshinori didn’t, actually, but the kid didn’t elaborate either.
Well, he was allowed to have a modicum of privacy, still. Toshinori let the issue drop, and nudged the boy with his foot. “You seem well rested. Back to the trash you go.”
Midoriya shuffled to his feet less than enthusiastically, and resumed toiling away at his task. While still checking on him often, ready to poke and prod at the first hint of sluggishness, Toshinori browsed through the kid’s notebook. While the contents were indeed worthy of attention, they were scarce in quantity. It must be rather new, since less than a quarter of the pages had been filled. However, the promise of more material to be discovered made Toshinori withhold his judgement on the matter for the time being.
Once that was done, he continued his perusal of the few files Tsukauchi had already put together about the Midoriya case. Toshinori had practically begged his friend to let him have an active role, any active role in the case: he simply couldn’t bear to twiddle his thumbs until someone else kindly pointed him to All For One’s hideout for another overdue thrashing. He simply needed to be involved, or he’d probably start crawling up walls within a week.
Questioning the kid was pretty much the only suitable occupation for him, currently… Well, it was either that or questioning Mrs. Midoriya, and Toshinori was fairly sure that his brain would leak out of his ears if he heard any more details about All For One’s romantic escapades. He wasn’t exactly an expert when it came to investigative work, not by any stretch of the imagination, but he was going to spare no effort to earn some results. If that meant poring over reams of police reports in the hopes of spotting some helpful clue, so be it. At least it would keep him busy, and busy was good, especially in trying times.
He’d applied the same logic to Midoriya, in a sense. The boy seemed the kind of person who’d very easily overthink himself into a negative spiral, even in less dire circumstances than the messy family drama he’d found himself into. It would do him good to focus on a better future, rather than on his depressing present. Giving him a goal to set his sights on would keep him going more smoothly.
At first Toshinori had thought to motivate him towards his dream career, but it turned out that the boy’s strategy about the admission test was… nebulous at best. Not that he could truly blame him for it: fourteen-year-old Toshinori didn’t exactly have a multi-step plan towards becoming the Symbol of Peace either, one couldn’t help being somewhat scatterbrained at that age.
The illegal dumping site had been a serendipitous discovery, and cleaning it up was the perfect type of goal to incite the boy towards. It was very obvious and straightforward, and required no intricate planning: he simply needed to roll up his sleeves and buckle down. And the muscle he’d build while doing it would serve him well for heroic purposes too, so it was a win-win on all fronts. Not to mention that some good old physical exertion would help him sleep at night, which he was still struggling with, if the persistent bags under his eyes were of any indication. Toshinori dearly missed the times when that trick still worked on him too, when driving himself to the brink of exhaustion was a guaranteed one-way ticket to restful and regenerative dreamland. Nowadays, if he accumulated even a sliver of excessive fatigue, all he got was… well, fatigue. And a metric ton of unrelenting body pains and lasting debilitation.
The rest of the afternoon went by smoothly and unremarkably. Midoriya drudged through many rounds of garbage disposal with decreasing energy and verve, but that was to be expected. Toshinori collected more barely relevant and generally useless information, but that was to be expected too. They were both in for the long haul, there was no point in getting upset about it. Eventually the sun started to set, and Toshinori beckoned the boy back to him with a handwave.
“You have more of these?” Toshinori said, tapping his index on the big 13 on the cover of the notebook still on his lap.
“Uh, yeah.”
“Could you bring them with you next time?”
“All of them?” Midoriya seemed frazzled.
“If you still have them, yes. Would that be a problem?”
The boy scratched his head as his cheek reddened slightly. “N-No, not a problem, but some of them are really… I finished the first one when I was seven. They aren't just outdated, they’re… ehr, childish. Just doodles and misspelled ramblings.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not like I’ll be grading them.” Not yet, at least. Toshinori smirked at his own private joke. Maybe he should grade them, as a small practice run. “I just want to give a quick read to a few things here and there.”
“O-Okay…”
“Good. Well, I think we can call it a day.” Toshinori rummaged in his cooler to fetch a chocolate energy bar, and tossed it to the exhausted boy. “Catch.”
Despite the warning, Midoriya did not catch, and the snack bumped against his chest and fell to the ground with a sad clack. Reflexes were MIA too, apparently. What a rare specimen of a prospective hero Toshinori had crossed paths with.
“T-Thank you!” Midoriya immediately picked it up, unwrapped it and shoved it into his mouth as he hopped into the passenger seat of the truck. Whether it was real hunger or fear of passing as rude, Toshinori couldn’t tell.
The drive to Midoriya’s house was brief. The boy was too tired to chat - as if they hadn’t already had their fill for the day. When they arrived and Midoriya climbed out of the vehicle to be on his way, Toshinori finally addressed one last pressing issue.
“Tomorrow your father is going to call you.”
“Yeah.” The kid’s eyes dropped to the ground. Maybe Toshinori should have brought it up sooner. Way to end the meeting on a sour note.
“How are you going to handle that?”
“I’m not.” The boy shrugged. “Mom will tell him I just got my tonsils removed. It's… safer for now. I think.”
Toshinori nodded. “Let’s take a day off then. Even if you can’t speak, he might want to say something to you, and it would be strange for you not to be at home while recovering.”
“Okay.”
He looked so very small, and so very young like that, bathed in the warm hues of sunset, but with no real warmth to his eyes and demeanor. He was too small and too young to be dealing with this shit. No one was old or big enough to deal with any of All For One’s shit, really. Toshinori would have to make sure no one would have to ever again.
“Thank you for your help today. It’s very appreciated, believe me.” Toshinori offered, with his most sincere smile. “Feel free to text me or Tsukauchi if anything comes up, you should be able to reach at least one of us at any hour of day or night.”
“Okay. Thank you. Have a good evening.”
“You too, kid.” Toshinori watched him until the door of his house closed behind his back, then he drove off.

pokemon rant time
this one’s about the 2 new things, and is at least slightly intended for people actually excited/interested in them, click keep reading or perish
Gonna try and keep stuff short cus there's a lot of topics this time and I've already gone off about how pokemon Isn't meant for me or meant to be a good video game anymore, but gamefreak is right back on their bullshit, so I feel I need to at least point it out.
I'd like to preface all this with, if you are a fan of pokemon still, please realize you can ask for more out of this series. Expect perfection, even if you don't think you'll get it anytime soon. Pokemon won't go anywhere, the old games won't go anywhere, and gaming is a hobby, not a necessity; don't accept low quality products from a company just because you feel like you're supposed to.
With this next wave of pokemon games, gamefreak is clearly testing how little they can put in to a $60 game while still keeping the 2 major audiences they've cultivated. By responding to the most obvious and vocal complaints from the community, gamefreak is aiming to make games that seems like what most players want, without having to put in the work on quality products.
GEN 4 REMAKES Pokemon BS (I am not calling this shit BDSP) is intended for the audience that put up with let's go and RS remakes. The most vocal and obvious complaints for these games is their failure as definitive versions of the games they are remakes of, such as missing features/content, or drastically changed story/dialogue/style. In a way, the recent remakes are inferior versions of incredibly old games, which shows a lack of improvement in pokemon as a whole.
To address these issues, BS is very, very, VERY clearly aiming for a more 1-to-1 recreation of the DS games, but with fully 3d graphics. Clearly the map layout has been transferred exactly, and gen 4 already had mostly 3d environments to begin with, and everyone knows about the future-proof pokemon models at this point, so the amount of effort required to create something like this is absolutely minimal. Assuming dialogue, trainer teams, move lists, etc. are also lifted directly from DP, then this game could be developed in basically no time at all, leaving the team time to ensure the product is of decent quality and includes ALL of the content of the originals, if not more, like the earlier pokemon remakes did to ensure they were truly definitive versions of the games. That being said, it is unlikely the team behind BS has been making use of this saved time to improve the game.
One failing already clear is that the quality is not very good, at least graphical quality. The footage we have shows environments lacking in color compared to the original, with messy, unpleasant textures that contrast poorly with the simplistic environments. The characters especially do not work. As cute and fun the fanart of tiny dawn has been, BS dawn and all other characters look awful. They have gorilla arms that reach down to the floor and lifeless faces, as well as incredibly stiff/simplistic animations. As it stands, BS is a visually inferior game to DP, though most consumers will simply see it as 3D>2D without any understanding of what an artstyle is, so this might not be a problem for many, but that doesn't mean you should accept it.
What remains to be seen is what content will be added/missing from pokemon BS. It is very possible that massive parts of the game, such as the underground, variety of online modes, postgame areas, and content from platinum could be missing entirely. We also do not know if pokemon from after gen 4 will be worked into the region, or even supported. Gen 8 still currently does not support a large number of pokemon, and the remakes may continue this limited dex trend.
Even assuming the remake includes everything from the DS games and doesn't add anything that slows down the story or harms the experience, it will still only be an exercise in forced obsolescence. The main reason people can't really play DP still is that the online isn't supported anymore. If BS turns out to be exactly the same as DP, then you're buying the same game for at a higher price, only to play it until the online service goes away again, or the next game comes out, if both don't happen at the same time.
Don't let yourself buy a 13 year old game at twice the original price.
GEN 4 NOT-REMAKE KIND OF NEW THING On to legends now, gamefreak is targeting the people who put up with sun/moon and sword/shield. The obvious problem with those games to most people was simply a lack of change from the standard pokemon formula. Even when changing the gyms to trials or stadiums, most people still understand that the format and story structures are mostly unchanged. Of course, this problem has seemingly been addressed by changing the game structure a fair bit, but almost entirely by removal.
Trainer battles, and by extension, gyms and tournaments/elite 4 have been confirmed to be absent, meaning all battles are only vs single pokemon, in spite of the player likely having a team of 6 pokemon. Even if battle difficulty is increased to compensate (doubtful), this will still drastically increase the simplicity of combat and make it even less likely for the game to include any meaningful challenge. Exploring towns and meeting NPCs is also seemingly missing, as the game is confirmed to have only a single village, which frankly looks incredibly boring and we've yet to see a single NPC inhabiting the village.
Battles now use an ATB format instead of a turn-based format (for those of you who don't know what that means, it basically means nothing, it's still turn based, it just means the speed state determines who gets more turns instead of who goes first, that's it), but beyond that there seems to be no noteworthy changes, pokemon learn 4 moves with limited PP, type advantage will still definitely be the most important aspect to battle, and the player being able to walk around during battle provides no meaningful impact. While the little dash the pokemon do to approach each other is cool, it is already a sign that gamefreak will not be addressing the issue of lacking animations for pokemon battles, as they can't even be assed to animate and program pokemon walking around the environment during combat, and lucario doing 1 kick for a move described as a series of punches isn't a great sign either.
On the topic of lacking animations, the new "pet simulator feature" for legends seems to be an advancement on the ride system from sun/moon, which presumably people missed from sword/shield. Being able to ride on your pokemon to do stuff sounds cool, but in all likelihood, this system will be limited to only a select few pokemon who will each do a select few actions, and is not a reasonable replacement for all the other pet raising features that have been removed in the past. Similar to BS, the total number of pokemon included may also be limited arbitrarily, in spite of the fact that no new pokemon need to be added, as these games are not claiming to be a new generation.
The largest issues I personally have with this new game is the horrible technical quality and gameplay quality shown in the initial trailer. Unfortunately, these types of problems seem to be difficult to explain to the average consumer, even though the issues seem incredibly obvious and inexcusable to people like me. Most people were able to understand the problem with the berry trees in gen 8, because it was easy to explain, "this tree doesn't look like the other trees, and it sticks out, isn't that weird?", and so gamefreak has eliminated any immediately obvious issues like that, sticking with a very consistent artstyle for legends, making it almost impossible to easily explain its faults to the average pokemon fan.
People have been really quick to compare legends to BoTW; the game that invented grass, trees, and mountains. In spite of these comparisons, nobody seems to point out that legends looks dramatically worse than that almost 5 year old game from the previous generation. Plants are stiff and lacking in energy, draw distances are poor, colors are drab, and textures are messy. Many parts of legends seems to ape BoTW on just the surface, essentially just following market trends. Even the controls seem to follow after modern 3rd person shooters/stealth games, including a seemingly pointless roll and a clunky looking ball lobbing arc that feels unfun before even getting to play it myself.
The largest issue, painfully obvious to some, and impossible to explain to others, is the framerate. The trailer clearly was ran on actual switch hardware, and not prerendered, which would be a good mark for gamefreak if it didn't result in a trailer that never once hit 30fps. Even with empty fields, with only 1 or 2 characters on screen, the game was incapable of meeting the target speed, and had to resort to optimizations like reducing the frame rate of pokemon only inches away from the player to stop-motion levels of choppy. If situations with almost nothing going on result in slow-down, how will the game perform during actual gameplay? Even though slow-down is something everyone can feel, many people aren't capable of identifying it.
The major things to wait and see for legends is if the removed aspects of the series are made up for by some additional systems or content, and definitely wait to see if the performance improves. As with BS, preordering a game like this only shows that gamefreak only has to market the game by saying it's different, not improved, like they've been doing for years now.
TL;DR FUCK GAMEFREAK One major thing of note is that gamefreak is releasing 2 games based on gen 4 at the nearly the same time, meaning they have no obligation to design new pokemon or even include pokemon not from sinnoh, and also that the sales of each game can be used as an indicator for which of their 2 audiences is more loyal to them. Both BS and Legends are in a position to be pushes aside if they fail, but if either succeeds, gamefreak can continue in the direction of the more successful game and reap the benefits, without any need to innovate, improve, or adapt to criticism.
The last thing I feel I have to remind people about is that gamefreak is a company; you don't need to be "grateful" to them. I've seen that word thrown around far too much by people who seem to buy pokemon games like its a tax, and not something they want to do. You don't have to suck up to a company that made games you liked as a kid if the games aren't what you want anymore. Pokemon is so wildly successful that it can't possible die, so don't buy the games out of pity, or out of some feeling of obligation. Buy the video games you want to play and nothing more.
Basically, if you are considering getting any of these new games, please wait until the games are out before purchasing them, and decide for yourself if they are worth your money, and more importantly, your time. Preordering these games only lets gamefreak know their audience will buy and put up with anything. They have no real competition at the moment, so the only thing the audience can do to encourage improvement is show some of restraint.
#juvenile rant#pokemon#if you read all that then good job cus jesus that got long#please just respect yourself#you deserve better games#you arent weird for wanting things to be good#anyway have a good night

Atsushi Nakajima x Reader| Fluff Alphabet
A/N: Umm???? I finished this earlier to celebrate this blog reaching 80 followers but over the weekend I managed to reach 90?? Thank you!!! ♡♡♡ (and a thank you to Mai for helping me with J).
Words: 2,053
Activities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Atsushi loves to go shopping with you! Going into stores and seeing what they have never fail to amaze him, and he has this cute little shocked face when he sees new things.
He also enjoys going to the library with you, being able to escape reality for a little bit is calming to him. And he’s able to brush up on his studying too, he knows basic things but there is still much left for him to learn. If he has any trouble reading a certain character he’ll come to you for help.
Not long after spending time with him, you learned about his liking towards chameleons and decided that you would take him to the zoo for a change in pace. You planned it to be a surprise for him, and couldn’t wait to see his reaction! It was hard to contain your excitement but you managed to pull through and it was worth it.
He got extremely happy you thought of something so special just for him. He was so overjoyed by the gesture a few tears came down on his face. With a gentle motion you wiped his tears away.
“It’s just… It’s just that no one has done this for me before,” He grabbed your wrist with his hand and leaned into your touch, “Thank you, (Y/n)... so much.”
Beauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
Atsushi admires your kindness above everything else. Growing up, kindness was something he never got, so as an adult he cherishes any generosity he receives.
He loves your eyes and the story behind them, he can see that you’ve been through stuff in the past but despite all the challenges you still stand tall. How can he not find that beautiful, especially considering he finds himself weak, so he has you to look up to.
Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
If you’re panicking, then he’ll start to panic too. But he’ll think about how he'd want to be treated in that situation, so he’ll wrap his arms around you and hug you till you calm down.
It surprisingly works, his warmth is so comforting and soothes you till your heart beat goes back to normal. He’ll listen to whatever is bothering you and encourage you that you can get through it. He assures you that he’ll be by your side the entire time and that if you get overwhelmed again he’s never too busy for you.
Dreams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
He doesn’t have his hopes up too high, he fears that if he asks for too much it’ll be taken away. So for now he’s perfectly content doing domestic everyday things with you.
Others may see that type of future to be rather tame, but he’s never experienced anything like this before so being able to share these tender moments with you is more than he could ask for.
Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
Atsushi has never dated anyone before you, so he is still learning even while in a relationship. He’s more passive since he doesn’t want to do anything wrong or upset you in any way. He knows that if he messes up you won’t punish him, but that anxiety is still rooted in him.
At the beginning he lets you take the lead for the most part, but after time and many words of affirmation from you he feels semi-confident to make the first move.
Fight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
He forgives easily since he believes that he’s in the wrong, and that by apologizing it’ll make you feel better. When you notice this pattern, you tell him that he is not at fault, and that small disagreements are bound to occur.
Fights between the two of you doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s very awkward and tense.
Gratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
Atsushi is very grateful for everything you do for him, sometimes he questions about what he did to deserve you. Everything you do for him is so sincere and full of love he can’t help but cry out of happiness.
Honesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
He’s as open with you as he can, he doesn’t tell you everything at once but he’ll gradually tell you all there is about him. He doesn’t tell you to seek out sympathy, he just wants there to be someone who he’s able to confide in.
After telling you his past, his heart feels lighter, like one day he’ll be able to let go of all that has happened to him and keep his eyes on the future without anything to hold him back.
Inspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
Being with you has definitely boosted Atsushi’s confidence. Whenever he messed anything up he would blame himself for not being good enough, and that he couldn’t do anything right.
You decided to help him change that type of attitude and told him that he is worth much more that he’s given himself credit for. That even if he doesn’t see it, you do and that you’ll stick by his side till the end.
Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
Atsushi doesn’t feel jealousy, if he sees you spending time with someone else more than him he thinks that something like this was destined to happen. That you found someone better than him, and forgot about him.
So when he saw Dazai talking with you, making you smile and laugh he didn’t know what the tug at his heart was at first. Then he saw Dazai whisper something into your ear, which made you cover your face in embarrassment.
Atsushi has never seen you react so strongly like that, of course they’ll be times where he’d get to make you laugh and smile but never to the point where you felt the need to cover your face. He sighs and looks longingly at the two of you. Taking a deep breath he continues the rest of the work day without bothering you.
You notice this and approach him after work and ask him what’s wrong. When he tells you how he felt, it’s heartbreaking to hear him talk about himself like that.
“You know that I love you Atsushi, right? Please know that I won’t leave you.”
“You tell me that but..” He averts his eyes from yours, he sighs, “it’s hard to believe sometimes. You, dating someone like me...”
“Someone like you?” You echoed. “Of course I’m dating someone like you! I wouldn’t want to be with anybody else.”
Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
His first kiss with you was very awkward, he was unsure as to what to do and ended up getting tense the moment you leaned in. With time however, he does get better. Though if you catch him by surprise he does react a bit late.
Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
When Atsushi gets the confidence to confess to you, the boy is a blushing mess. While talking to you he keeps stumbling over his words and fidgeting.
You try to listen and comprehend what he’s trying to say but you can’t understand a thing he’s saying.
“Atsushi...” You call out, gaining his attention, “slow down. It’s just me, okay? No need to be so nervous.” You offer him a gentle smile.
He shakes his head, “That’s exactly why I’m nervous… Because it is you. You mean a lot to me, y’know?” He takes a deep breath. “(Y/n)... I like you… a lot.”
That caught you off guard for a second, but you regain your computer and give him a wide smile, “I like you too, Atsushi!”
Marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
He’s still young, so the idea of marriage hasn’t really crossed his mind. He has to admit though that since being with you it made marriage an achievable dream.
If you were to marry, you guys would be known as the cutest married couple. In private you make sure to show him tons of affection and he reciprocates it back to you in full.
Nicknames - What do they call their s/o?
He’d call you things like sweetie and sunshine. Atsushi thinks the world of you and he wants to prove it to you.
On Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
He’s very obvious when he’s in love. He becomes more awkward around you, and stammers a lot. His face is proof too since it gains a lovely shade of red when he talks to you or when anyone mentions you.
He expresses his love by devoting his time to you, as much as he might embarrass himself he doesn’t want to let go of this feeling you gave him. So he spends most of his free time with you, which leads you guys into talking more and then to his inevitable confession.
PDA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
He likes to keep it lowkey with you, he knows that the others are bound to figure it out themselves but he likes to keep what you two have to yourselves. He’s open to lingering touches and hand holding in front of people but any further and he might lose face.
Quirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
Atsushi’s optimism is refreshing, despite the situation you guys are in he always finds a bright side. While it might not come naturally to him, he still tries to see the light no matter how bleak the present may look.
Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
He doesn’t think he is but at times he can be unintentionally romantic. He had gotten you flowers one day cause he saw them on his way to work and they reminded him of you. When he gave them to you, you swear your heart was going to explode from how cute he was.
His gestures are somewhere in between, some ideas he’ll get from romance movies or he’ll think up of something that is unique to only the two of you.
Support - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Atsushi is your biggest supporter, and he’ll be sure to let you know every waking morning. He encourages you, and believes in your inner strength.
It’s also why he likes you so much, you don’t want to let anything hold you back from accomplishing your goals.
Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
Atsushi is perfectly fine with how your relationship is currently going. If anything out of the norm happens his anxiety starts to act up. He much prefers when he’s able to anticipate what's to come.
If you want to do something out of your guys’ comfort zone, depending on what it is he’d be more than glad to oblige. All you have to give him a heads up to he can mentally prepare.
Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
He tries his best to understand you, he wants to know all there is about you. He’s always been empathetic towards people but with you it’s like your hearts have become one.
Value - How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?
Atsushi cherishes his relationship with you more than life itself, being with you has opened his mind to possibilities he didn’t even know about. You have shown him what being alive is all about and he doesn’t want to lose that feeling.
Wild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
Sometime Atsushi would wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares either about his time in the orphanage or about losing you. He’d wake up in a cold sweat and look over to you to make sure you’re okay.
When he sees you sleeping peacefully it calms his racing heart just a little bit, he’d lay back down next to you and hold your hands before going back to sleep. He doesn’t wish to bother you with his problems so if possible he’d like to avoid waking you up.
However, there are days where his night terrors do wake you up, but you don’t mind. While he’s apologizing about waking you up, you go into the kitchen to make the both of you some chamomile tea to help alleviate his nerves.
You guys end up talking about whatever is on your minds till you fall asleep.
XOXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Atsushi loves to receive affection from you. He grew up touch starved so when you show him attention and cuddle with him he’s instantly hooked.
Depending on his mood he’ll either be the little or the big spoon. When he feels down there’s no better place than being wrapped around in your arms with your hand combing through his hair.
Yearning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
When Atsushi misses you he feels as if he’s missing a part of himself without you. He’ll be sure to keep a part of you with him to look at and remind him how lucky he is to be with you. And in turn he’ll give you a part of himself as well.
Zeal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
Atsushi will move mountains for you if you ask him. This boy loves you so much that he’s willing to do anything he can to make you happy.

Crazy, Rich, and They Hate Me :: Finale
Jaehyun finally takes you home, but he forgets to mention that his family is the richest in South Korea.
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five
Part Six Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine
Jaehyun x Reader ft. NCT
Genre: Angst/ Fluff

You and Jasmine had ran to eachother for a lot of things. Boy problems, girl problems, health problems, money problems; any problem. But as you stood infront of her door, the audio of the doorbell making your ears ring even worse. You didn’t want to be here.
This had to have hit too close to home, right? I mean, during your whole friendship it was a running joke that the two of you were the complete opposite, when in reality you were more alike than either of you had wanted.
You knew if you just pulled up, sad attempt to confess what just happened, you wouldn’t be able to open your mouth. You were guaranteed to make up some lie about how his mom officially forbade you to be in a relationship with Jaehyun, so you told her the whole story as you walked to this destination.
Before an hour ago, you felt so pretty. Usually you hated red, but that way Jaehyun’s eyes just couldn’t leave your body made you feel a confidence you hadn’t felt in too long looking so dressed up. You hated him now. You knew it wasn’t his fault. But you did. You never wanted to see him again.
A now familiar sight to you, the door slid open, but the Jasmine you had known all your life wasn’t behind the door. There was nothing but pure sympathy in her eyes, and she opened the door at a slow place. She clearly didn’t know exactly how to react, not that she was supposed to.
“I’m so sorry.” Her voice trembled.
Tears were the only source of communication you could give her.

“I’ve been gone a month, Jangmi. A month!” Minjun screamed, clearly fuming as he paced back and forth around their eerily empty mansion.
Jaehyun hadn’t had such a moment since he was a child. No one in sight except the three of them. No workers running around, ready to do whatever they asked. Not even the smell of dinner from his grandma could be scented. And his dad being here? This couldn’t be real.
“What is that supposed to mean?” His mother argued, staying seated on her velvet loveseat. Her and her son both silently agreed that they couldn’t be near eachother right now. She was on one side of the seat, while Jaehyun had completely rose when she arrived to the scene, unable to look her in the eye.
“I told you that Jaehyun was serious about that girl, didn’t I?”
“Was I supposed to take you seriously? Hm?” She protested loudly, her voice raising in volume with each word. “Why are you yelling at me when you should be yelling at your son!”
“My son?” He scoffed. “You mean our son.”
“You know what I meant.”
“Our son found a woman that he loves. What’s the problem?”
“Did you not just hear what I told you?” She accused. “Her life will completely ruin our reputation. Every single thing the world thinks our son is, will crumble as if it was never there. Why can’t you see that!”
Jaehyun was trying his best to keep up with the heated discussion that echoed through his childhood home. But the only thing at the forefront of his mind was you. A nervous habit he had formed after falling in love with you; his body rocked back and forth, and his fingers couldn’t remove themselves from the grip of his teeth as he thought about all the terrible things that could’ve happened to you in the last hour.
He had never hated himself until today. Why did he bring you here? He should’ve just kept you a secret. He should’ve flew for the festivities, and came back to you tomorrow morning, where your life would still be intact. Your self-esteem would be at its normal level, where all he had to worry about were things that he could fix with his kisses and sweet nothings.
His bloody hands had been wrapped all alone, although in any other situation, his mother would’ve taken care of it. They probably would’ve joked around about his bruises, or something similar. That was the mother he knew. This vile, angry beast that he watched approach his father with sharp fingers wasn’t who he loved.
He didn’t want to be here anymore. Even in the bask of his fathers glory who was clearly fighting for him, couldn’t make him want to be here. His life was over, and not because of your news. It was because he knew; he fucking knew clearer than ever now that he had lost you for good. And it was his fault. All those times he tried to be the good guy, not trying to start any conflict. For the sake of you, and him, and your serenity, but it was doing nothing.
He let this happen, and now he had to pay the price.
He stood up abruptly, the both of his parents stopping their arguing to stare at him. He looked broken. He didn’t need a mirror to see that. He felt it. He felt too many things right now. If he didn’t go into his room right now, he didn’t know what was going to happen.
“Where do you think you’re going!” His mother spat. How bold of her. If anything, she should be begging for his forgiveness, but she couldn’t even stuff her pride.
“Jangmi, let him deal with everything that just happened. Let him breathe.”
“No. He needs to hear what we’re going through simply because of him. You came home expecting good news, but now we’re broken.”
Jaehyun continued to take gentle steps forward, remembering your own techniques for calming down. He never thought things like this worked, and he was correct in this theory.
“Your mother is—
“Mom! I am angry at you! More than angry!” He yelled suddenly, shaking the house. The minute he had to use his diaphragm, the burning of his nose took it as a signal to let the liquid drip from his eyes. “Do you not realize what the fuck you just did to me? Are you really that blind? You ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I let you.” He trailed, looking at his higher power in embarrassment. “I let you.” He giggled through his tears now, looking nothing less of a psychopath. “You, the cousins, Yuna, grandma, everyone here. I let you guys trick me into believing you could be saved. I watched you destroy everything she had going for her when she came here, and I let you.”
“Son...” his father attempted to approach him, but Jaehyun snapped his shoulder away, making him flinch at once.
He wanted to say so many more things. Things that he didn’t mean, just so his mother could feel the hurt that was making his body pulse. But he decided to keep walking, knowing he wouldn’t be stopped this time.

Days had passed, and your phone had been off for the same amount of time. You wanted no parts in seeing any pictures of you and him. You didn’t want to see all of his apologies. You wanted to go home.
“Y/N, you need to eat.” Jasmine would say everyday. Even Heechul, who always had a snarky comment was being extra sweet to you, making you little pastries that were said to soothe you.
You’d always eat just enough to protect yourself from any true damage you could do to your body. You would always feel as if you had to throw up, but it would never actually happen. You knew it was all in your head.
The silk sheets that rested on your body were so uncomfortable right now; more proof that this life wasn’t for you. They were making you so hot.
“Y/N.” Jasmine’s soothing voice whispered into the large space of her many spare bedrooms, one you had happened to choose. You expected her at this time, with a tray of your favorite snacks. But when she appeared infront of you, she was empty handed. “We need to talk.”
You couldn’t deprive her of that. Neither of you had spoken about what you learned, and you truly believed it was because neither of you knew how to approach it. You weren’t ashamed of being adopted, and you hoped she knew that. Your lack of eating, and showering, and good hygiene in general wasnt because your true parents. It was because you knew you and Jaehyun were officially done. And you knew you were probably going to ruin his life, as his mother was just too spiteful. She would probably get the information out just because he was surely fighting your love; even through all of this drama.
Just to make him look bad, she’d do it.
“Do you have any questions?” She questioned awkwardly, fiddling with the rings she never took off. A gift from her new family, she explained.
“No.” Was all you could say, unable to look her in the eye.
“I hope you’re not ashamed. Or see yourself as less than because of what you know. You still have great parent—
“Jas.” You whispered in a purely sincere tone as your eyes filled to the brim with tears, “do you think I looked at you differently because you’re adopted?”
“I just—I know it’s not ideal. And I didn’t come from good parents and I just—“ Her voice cracked, and for the first time in your life, you were watching her cry. Her fighting spirit had her refusing to be in your arms, but you didn’t listen to her silent wishes. You snatched her up just as she had when you were on her doorstep about to have a mental breakdown.
“I have never looked down on you. To be exact, I’ve always looked up to you. I know you had your demons, and things that upset you, but you were always positive. I always wondered how you could be like that. How you could be so damn strong even though you had every right to be pissed off at the world.” You kissed her forehead, hating the way you were mimicking Jaehyun’s every move right now. “I love you, Jas. And so does your family. I hate that you met them later than you wanted, but what do I always say?”
“That everything happens for a reason.” She choked out.
“Exactly.” You took a deep swallow, knowing that was slogan but wanting it to be un-true in your case. You didn’t want this to be what fate wanted. You wanted there to be mistake in that foreign world. A mishap. But as you continued to dwell on your thoughts, you didn’t have positive feelings on it. No optimism.
You woke up the next morning with Jasmine in your bed, her tears still stained on the pillow beside you. Today was your last day before you had to take your flight, but you couldn’t just leave.
You turned your phone on, knowing it had a chance of practically blowing up from all the texts you knew you recieved. They were all from him. Every single one.
Twelve missed calls. A no exaggeration—twenty separate text messages from him. They started off so concerned, begging you to answer the phone. He was explaining that he just needed to hear you voice to make sure it was actually you responding to him.
As you continued to read, he told you that his father was here, and that he finally told his mom off. He confessed that even so, he felt no better, because he was weak. He didn’t say everything he wanted to say, and he wanted to go back in time to say everything over, better.
He then went on to tell you how much he loved you. He seemed to be arguing with himself, as he kept mentioning that he wasn’t enough. That it was he who didn’t deserve you, and he hated how terrible he was with words. He was trying to fit all of his love for you in a text message, and believed he was failing.
Even as the days skipped, he updated you about his day. He said he wouldn’t eat until he wanted to, which was never. His apologies were never ending, and your heart was close to its end.
He told you he was crying, and couldn’t stop. He told you that he cried so much that he had thrown up, but that he needed it. That it made him feel better for all you had gone through for absolutely no reason.
You couldn’t read any longer, feeling sick to your stomach as you knew he was telling the truth. A man didn’t do all of this for a woman he didn’t love. At least, not a man like Jung Jaehyun.
But love didn’t matter anymore.
You texted her, setting a time and place. She argued, saying that it would be best if you just came to the house.
Unlike every other time you were at the Jung residence, you weren’t dressed up today. Even with the preaching you planned to do in just a few moments, you couldn’t help but to feel so insecure. So less than.
“Y/N.” Was all she said when she let you in. “As you can see, he’s not here. I wasn’t lying.”
“I didn’t think you were.” You whispered, looking at your toes.
She didn’t look good. Now more than ever could you see the resemblance between the two of them. His dimple always shined at you when he was happy, but the exact same one was now moped out, cause being because she had her lips sucked in. It was the kind of expression one wore when they didn’t know what to say.
“So, what did you have to say to me?”
“You know I love Jaehyun, right?”
She was quick to answer. “Yes.” You knew she wasn’t going to miss a beat just yet.
“Do you think Jaehyun loves me?”
“Yes.”
“Then why did you fight it so hard? Why wasn’t love enough for you?” Your tone was surprising gentle considering the words you were speaking. You preyed around her home, eyeing all of the artwork you never got to admire because you were always being bullied when you came here. Their family portrait actually read them to be great people.
“Because love isn’t enough. Do you know how many people in the world love eachother? If we married just for love, the world we be in a deeper hell.”
“So you don’t love Mr. Jung?”
“I got lucky.” Her voice waivered. You couldn’t see her facial expression. You didn’t want to look at her just yet.
“Lucky how?”
“Me and Minjun were soulmates who happened to come across eachother. We had love and the resources.”
“So you’re saying that if you didn’t have the resources, you shouldn’t have been able to marry the man you love?”
Her trailing of your moves stopped, as she could finally understand your game. She obviously didn’t like it. “Say what you want to say or get out of my house.”
You turned around from the splash art you were observing deeply, staring straight into her cold eyes. If you didn’t know any better, you’d assume she had no soul. But you knew that wasn’t the case. She just didn’t like you.
“This will be the last time you see me.” You confessed, and you saw the way joy sparkled in her eyes. It hurt, even though you should’ve seen it coming. “And I know even right now you’re planning my departure, and trying to figure out who should really be Jaehyun’s bride. Who actually deserves him. Your choice. But never forget, that it was me, a poor girl from Los Angeles that is the reason that you will get your son back.”
She seemed shocked at your strong words. She clearly thought this was a bold claim from the way her eyebrows connected immediately, scoffing in offense.
“You can say what you want about me. And you can say what you want about our relationship, but your son is in love with me. And I know that eats you up inside, but read my lips when I say that we were in love. And we made eachother happy. I will always love him.” Your voice cracked, but you quickly sniffed to pull it together. “So ten years from now when you have little grandchildren running around, making everyone in the house laugh, but Jaehyun’s sitting in the corner and you just can’t seem to understand why he looks so unhappy, know it’s because he’s thinking about me, and about how this could’ve been us if only; you didn’t make me leave.”
“You watch—
“I’m giving you what you want. So I hope your happiness continues to override his own. And I hope that whoever he does marry doesn’t have to go through half the hell I did.”
And with that, you left. Even with her yelling after you. Even when you wanted to badly to turn around, and run upstairs, because you knew he was listening. You knew he heard every word, and would probably go to cry again. But you had to. They got what they wanted. And now you had to sleep. You had a flight in the morning.

You forgot how hot the California sun could be. Especially on a day like this, where you were already in such a horrible mood, nothing felt right. At the same time though, it felt so good to be home. Even though you had only been here for a measly three days, it was so refreshing to not get weird stares and judge mental looks from people who didn’t even know you.
The streets were busy as always, people walking across the road to get to other shopping centers, but your focus was on the familiar diner that now brought you horrible memories.
God, you remember how excited you were when he told you about Johnny’s wedding. It had never even crossed your mind that it would be the last time you saw him, and the last time you would ever call him your boyfriend.
“Y/N! How was the trip!” The owner yelled in an enthusiastic tone, clearly missing your buisness.
“Good.” You responded simply, sitting down at your usual booth.
“Just good? And in that tone? Who died?”
“My relationship.” You chuckled sadly, feeling it all rush back to you at once. All the memories of you two wouldn’t go away.
“Don’t tell me...”
“Yeah.”
You hated that you sounded like this right now. This was exactly how you behaved before you met Jaehyun, and he made you bloom into this so-called beautiful human being. You always shut down.
You couldn’t see what the older man was doing. Out of your peripheral, you could see him whispering to the cook in the back through the tiny window they used to communicate.
Jaehyun hadn’t texted or called since your conversation with his mother. Maybe he hated you too. Everytime your phone would ring, or vibrate, you would rush to it praying it was him. You were so broken. All it would take is one more text, and he could have you back.
Gusto—the owner of your favorite eating place, sat across from you now. He had your favorite milkshake in one hand, and an abundance of fries in the other.
“Thought you might’ve wanted this.”
“Thank you.” You laughed, trying your best to be happy. Or at least look it.
“Listen to me doll,” his hand reached for your chin, lifting it up from its grip on the food. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but I do know that you are a very strong girl. You know, your dad was just like this. When him and your mom would get into it, he’d come in here.”
“Did he really?” You sniffled, being reminded about the problems you had to deal with now. You were still trying to figure out a way to approach your mom about it.
“Yeah. And he would get this exact milkshake too.”
As it had been for the last few minutes, the bell connected to the door rung; indicating someone had swung it open. Probably some teenagers who had just came from the rink.
You put the straw to your lips, knowing that the taste of Oreo mixed in with chocolate would soothe your scrambled mind even if it was for a few. It didn’t feel the same now that Jaehyun wasn’t sharing it with you, but it was still so delicious. You hadn’t even realized that Gusto had risen from his position in front of you.
Your breathing unconsciously got deeper and deeper, trying to take in all the familiar smells of LA. One deep breath, and your heart stopped. You choked on the cookie that was so close to going down your throat.
It was him. He was here.
“Jaehyun—I—
“I know you have a million things you want to say to me.” He whispered. His hair was its usual messy nature, and he was no longer in a polo, or suit as he had been during your whole trip. His grey sweats made your heart beat for a few seconds at a fast pace, but his eyes finished the job.
They weren’t swollen. If you didn’t know any better, you would even say he was happy right now. His eyes were filled with sincerity as his scent hugged you all around.
“Usually people say that when they met their soulmate, they had no idea that they’d love them as much as they did.” He began, taking your hand into his own. “But when I met you, I swear I knew. I called Johnny and told him I had met my wife. He laughed, but I knew it was true. I knew you were the one, Y/N.”
Neither of you could notice, but the crowd began to form, clearly seeing something coming that you couldn’t.
“And still, right now, I look at you and know you’re the one. No matter what anyone says. No matter who tries to stop me from getting what I want, it’ll never happen.” He sighed, reaching for his back pocket and slowly skimping down to one knee.
“Jae...” you trailed off, emotions trying to come out from your eyelids.
“Let me finish.” His voice was wavering, a clear indication that he was incredibly nervous. “I love you, baby. Every damn thing about you, I love. I love how much you love to stay at home, doing absolutely nothing. I love how strong you are, even when you don’t have to be. When every damn thing in the world is trying to get in your way, you kick it down, and I admire you. I can’t even properly get my words out because their aren’t enough words to describe you. Hell, I even love the excessive amount of ketchup you put on your fries. All of that makes you, and I want it for the rest of my life.” His hand was shaking now, but he still managed to open the box, revealing the ring that was seemingly forbidden in his family. His grandmas ring was standing right infront of you.
“Oh my goodness.” Was all you could breathe out, clutching your chest for support.
“Please, make me the happiest man in the world, Y/N. Let me show the whole world who I love. Marry me. I can’t live without you and I know you love me just as much. Please.”
The hell you went through was trying to replay through your mind like your favorite song, but you had to block it. It didn’t deserve to win in such a moment, and all your focus was on your boyfriend. The man who you would die for.
“Yes. How could I say no?” You choked out, letting him place the ring in your finger as you bounced around like a child, immediately jumping into his arms as he held you tighter than he had ever held you in your whole relationship. His face nuzzled into the crevice of your neck, and even in this crowd of people, you couldn’t save it. You had to kiss him.
“I love you, Y/N.” He whispered as you two embraced once more. “And I meant it when I said I always will. No matter what.”
“No matter what.” You cooed with a head tilt, pressing a teary kiss to his plump lips once again.
This was fate. This was how your story was going to end. It may have hurt like hell to get here, but you were going to marry the love of your life, and you didn’t care what anyone thought about it. Neither did he.

A/N: Wowwwww it’s crazy how long this series has been going on. I am so appreciative of the love y’all gave this, and I am truly sad to see it go. I know you guys probably hated this as the final part, but I plan to do an epilogue soon and also a surprise conversation between two people that I think you guys would enjoy. Thank you so much and I can’t wait for you guys to see the things I have planned next.
