By Sunday a flare that has gotten progressively worse puts Y/N down for the count on a day of the week that she loves the most. Sundays for her means cozy, walks by the waterfront with Connor and Charlie when the weathers nice, meal prepping for the week and laundry that needs to be done. This Sunday is was totally different she woke up unstable and stayed that way all day. Hannah and Ava checking in with every vital log. It so bad that Connor was putting logs in every 30 minutes. While laying on the couch with Charlie, Connor, like he does every Sunday, goes through every med kit in the house. Slowly but surely she has started to not apologize for the village that she has looking out for her and admires her husband for being a overprotective, loving, smart and funny husband he is.

The Stillness in the Storm
Summary: Sundays are usually Y/N’s favorite—waterfront walks with Charlie, soft music in the kitchen, meal prepping while Connor makes fun of her color-coded spice jars. But this Sunday is different. A flare that started quietly midweek has reached full tilt, and she’s down for the count. As she lays curled on the couch, vitals being logged every thirty minutes, and Connor checking every med kit in the house, she starts to realize: she doesn’t feel guilty anymore. Not for needing help. Not for needing him. Because loving her means loving the flare days too—and Connor? He’s the kind of husband who never once makes her feel like a burden.

By Sunday morning, she already knew the day was going to be different.
The dizziness didn’t hit when she stood up—it was just there when she opened her eyes. Her head swam, her skin felt off, and her stomach turned the moment she shifted.
Charlie was already awake, pressed into her side like he knew something was wrong. He always knew.
Connor noticed too.
He came back from the kitchen with the tea she never had to ask for, crouched at her side, and didn’t say anything when she whispered a barely-there, “Not great today.”
He just nodded, helped her shift into her spot on the couch, and quietly started prepping her protocol.
By 10 a.m., she’d logged vitals three times—each one worse than the last.
By noon, she couldn’t sit up without her vision tunneling.
By 2 p.m., Connor was logging vitals every 30 minutes. Quietly, steadily. Keeping her covered in soft blankets, heating pad across her lower belly, fluids running slow and steady into her port.
And every so often, he’d murmur: “You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
Sunday was usually their day.
A walk with Charlie by the waterfront if the weather was kind. Coffee stops. Meal prep with music playing and open windows and Connor trying to sneak lemon into recipes she’d specifically told him not to touch.
But today, the house was silent.
The weather was beautiful. But the three of them stayed curled inside—the dog at her side, her husband pacing gently between the couch and the medical drawer, restocking with quiet precision.
She didn’t speak much. Couldn’t, really.
But she watched him.
How he checked every single med kit. Made sure her sublinguals were fresh. Flushed her port gently. Ran through her med chart out loud, half to himself and half for the log. How he texted Hannah at 12:17 and Ava again at 1:03.
They were both checking in like clockwork now.
But he didn’t look tired of it.
He looked steady. Focused. Unshakable.
It used to break her—this part.
The needing. The stillness. The dependence.
She used to cry from the guilt of being “too much.”
But now?
She watched the man she loved double-check her anti-nausea doses with one hand while scratching Charlie’s ears with the other.
And all she could feel was gratitude.
Not just for Connor, but for the whole village. For the Sunday that didn’t look like it was supposed to—but was somehow still safe. Still soft.
Still theirs.
By the time the sun started to dip outside the window, she was still down.
Unstable, quiet, exhausted.
But not broken.
And when she finally whispered, “Sorry today was like this,” Connor leaned over, kissed her forehead, and said, “I don’t love Sundays because we’re out and about. I love them because I get to take care of you.”
She didn’t say anything.
Just reached for his hand, pulled it gently to her chest, and held it there.
Right over her heart.

Three weeks journal about my struggles with time
Week 1
The week started with me feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of tasks on my plate. Each day seemed to blend into the next as I struggled to managed my time effectively. I often found myself jumping from one task to another without completing any of them, leaving me frustrated and anxious. I attempted to create a to-do list to help organize my thoughts, but I quickly realized that I wasn’t prioritizing tasks properly. Instead of feeling accomplished, I was left with the nagging sense of unfinished business haunting me.
By midweek, I decided to try time blocking. I allocated specific chunks of time different activities, hoping this would help me stay focused. However, it is soon became apparent that I underestimated how long tasks would take. I found myself extending my time blocks, and while I did manage to complete a few projects, I felt like I was still chasing my own tail. Each evening, I would reflect on what was supposed to be accomplished, only to realize I wasn’t making the progress I wanted. It was disheartening.
As the week came to close, I felt a yearning for balance. I longed to reclaim my time and find a rhythm that allowed for both productivity and personal well-being. I started thinking about how I could implement small changes in my routine that could lead to a more fulfilled life.

Weekly journal 1st week: A Week of Challenges & Overcoming Obstacles
This week was filled with challenges, but I’m proud of how I handled each one. On Monday, I started with my Arab language project, which initially felt overwhelming. To make it more manageable, I broke it down into smaller tasks and, by the end of the day, I had a solid outline in place. This helped me stay focused and organized for the rest of the week.
On Tuesday, I shifted my focus to applying for a Mara loan. The process was quite daunting at first, with a lot of paperwork to gather. However, I sought advice from a friend, which made everything clearer and gave me more confidence to proceed. By the end of the day, I had completed the application, feeling more at ease.
Midweek, I had a reading assessment that made me quite anxious. To prepare, I focused on writing study skills notes and practiced various comprehension strategies. These efforts helped me feel more prepared and less nervous about the assessment. It was a relief to see my hard work pay off during the test.
Thursday was all about refining my study notes. I took the time to review and consolidate key concepts, making sure I had a strong grasp on what I had learned. This gave me a sense of control over my studies and allowed me to approach the upcoming tasks with greater clarity and confidence.
I wrapped up the week by completing my portfolio. I carefully selected pieces that best showcased my growth and took extra care to polish everything before submission. Each challenge throughout the week taught me valuable lessons in time management and seeking help when needed, leaving me feeling accomplished and ready for whatever comes next!

Monday Madness: The Case Presentation
The week kicked off with one of the most intense and nerve-wracking experiences: our case presentation. I knew this would be the make-or-break moment, not just for my grade, but also for how I would handle the pressure. Presenting a real-life scenario, demonstrating my understanding of the case, offering solutions, and answering those mind-bending questions was no easy feat. It was a full mental workout, but I pushed through, delivering my points with confidence and making sure every detail was on track. The adrenaline rush was real, but in the end, I was proud of how I handled it.
Shifting Exam: A Test of Time and Knowledge
The same day, I had the shifting exam. Now, imagine this: you’ve just finished one challenge and there’s no time to catch your breath before jumping into the next. The clock was ticking, and the questions kept coming. This was no ordinary exam. It tested everything—skills, knowledge, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. As someone who is used to pushing herself to the limit, I knew this exam would demand every ounce of focus. Had it all planned out.

Though I didn't eating perfectly through the holidays, I didn't do that badly if I am being fair with myself. I have emerged into the new year, entered week 4 of this training program, feeling great.
Thinking I had it all figured out, allowing myself some strategic carbs, pasta on Friday nights before Saturday morning long runs. Carby brunch after the Saturday long run or race. I could do this.
Doing some shopping with my wife midweek, drive by Waffle House, she says she could go for that again sometime soon. I say how about after my long run on Saturday? I joke maybe I can run here then you can meet me here for brunch. I check Google maps and see that this Waffle House is 7 miles from our house. Saturday long run is 7 miles. OK, we're doing this.
My kids get involved, they want in. My daughter especially is in on the plan. I make a 72-minute Taylor Swift playlist, perfect for a 7-mile run at a 10:15 easy pace.
I can't stress enough how good I am feeling, Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday. My runs are going great. I've emerged from the holidays inspired to eat well. Been watching running videos on YouTube and Instagram, really getting excited about more running. I should do more races. I should admit this is more of a thing in my life. I run. I am a runner.
But I haven't weighed myself in a while, tell myself I need to.
Weigh myself on Friday. 194.4. Ugh. OK, I can do this, it's probably still some holiday bloat. If I stay on it, I'm sure next week I'll be a few pounds down. Then there's no reason I can't lose a pound a week or so for the next month or so. Weight loss will be tough the last month or so of training. But I can still be in the mid-180s. No, I need to do this race sub-185 I tell myself. No, I feel great, don't worry about the scale I also tell myself.
My youngest son has a soccer game Friday at 6p. It's outdoors and it's chilly for Florida. I wear my jeans. They're a little tight, but not too bad. 36 waist, they should feel better. After we go out for pasta. Salad and breadsticks before the meal. I eat too many breadsticks. They aren't part of the strategic carbs plan, are they? I devour my plate of spaghetti and meatballs. The booth no longer feels comfortable in these jeans.
The 35-minute drive home is even less comfortable. I unbutton the top button on my jeans--a nod to my fatter days--there's no reason to be a martyr in uncomfortable pants. The way these 36 waist jeans feel shake my confidence in an attitude about not focusing on the scale and just feeling great. I need to lose weight and don't want to go to 38.
Get home, change to pajamas and feel better. My wife mentions a storms is blowing through Saturday morning. My run to Waffle House plan is looking like a bad one. Was planning on running at 9:15a, meeting family there at 10:30a. Now looks like 7a will be the best time to avoid the rain. I will need to wake up earlier and run earlier than I really want to on a Saturday. And stick close to home.
Wake up at 5:30a on Saturday, drink my morning coffee, still reeling about how terrible I felt after dinner in those jeans. I order 38 waist jeans from Gap online because I need jeans that fit for the next few months.
I go out for my 7-mile run shortly after 7a. It rains off and on. The Taylor Swift playlist was fun. Easy pace, 10:05 average, it's crazy how easy these easy pace runs feel. I hope I'm doing this right.
Go out to Waffle House with the family, eat my carby brunch, drink more coffee, feel great in elastic waist shorts. For a moment I stop worrying about my weight.
