i think it says something about the force of the inquisitor’s mind — specifically a faithfully dalish mage inquisitor — that the events of inquisition and trespasser did not immediately turn their brain to dust.

and perhaps that’s just the world of dragon age, that long believed stories of old are bound to shatter at any moment. but in one playthrough, depending on your leanings, they learn that:

the rite of tranquility can be reversed

ameridan was a dalish elf mage who knew that the whole time before he disappeared

that the old gods were not gods at all

that they enslaved the elves of old

that the veil was created by fen’harel and that was the cause of losing their immortality and not the presence of humans

and that their closest advisor in all things spirit (and potentially their great friend and lover) was the dread wolf in the goddamn flesh

not to mention the knowledge of the well of sorrows, which potentially submits them to the will of flemeth/mythal herself.

i truly think sera is the only one who really understands the mental ramifications, in her own way. her hatred of the fade and the crossroads in trespasser makes her at times flat out terrified, and the thought of the veil at one point not existing at all almost gives her a conniption. but it’s more than understandable considering that everything the elves know about the world, about their own history, is a lie.

everything that the inquisitor potentially leaned on to lead their people, a desire to return to the old ways… vanishes in the span of a few days, potentially an evening, with the exalted council.

He could have used his powers to slip into the nursery, unseen and unnoticed.

But where would be the fun in that?

Instead, Hermes appeared before his son Eudoros at his home in Phthiotis. The lovely Polymele was absent, and so too were her father Phylas and husband Echecles.

The three of them had decided against sending Eudoros to Perse and Chiron for training, since they could afford the best of tutors. Which was fair, Perse had admitted, but that could not be said of all families.

Even for those who could afford to teach a demigod to fight, the prestige of being taught by immortals could outweigh the distance for some noble families.

He supposed it was affection which kept Eudoros at home as Perse taught his lesser-born siblings how to slay a variety of monsters and not die if they had to flee with nothing but their wits. It didn't seem to have done him any harm at least, he was doing well enough for a demigod his age.

"Lord Father!" Eudoros greeted, hastily standing to bow. "What brings you to my humble home?"

Hermes smiled. Humble? Perhaps when compared to Mount Olympus. His daughter Elaphia lived in half a ruin, her mother's kin too poor to fix what time and malice destroyed. Shame, it had been a lovely little village fifty years ago.

"I was just in the area" of Hellae "and heard some gossip I thought I should share." Hermes smiled genially, gesturing his son to sit back down.

"My son Autolycus now has a great granddaughter, from Odysseus and his Queen!" Hermes boasted.

His noble son visibly suppressed a frown at the name of the great thief. Which was a shame, his noble lovers tended to instil such strange proprietary regarding thievery.

Camp might have done him good in that sense, the sea-eyed Athenide had made a game of it. Had lessons in it even, for those not as skilled as he.

"Father, has not Autolycus passed?" Eudoros asked, which was a very diplomatic recovery. And a very good question.

"Autolycus has not been seen in mortal lands for quite a few years. It may be so, it may not." Hermes answered honestly. "I mostly wanted to let you know because of the gossip surrounding the birth."

He knew exactly where his son's mind went as scandalised outrage crossed Eudoros's face. Which was a bit much, considering which bloodline he belonged to. Several of his half siblings had been born into a marriage! Just not between the parents who made them.

"Not like that. Apparently my great granddaughter was brought to the throne during the Palace's petitioning hour, again, not like that," he interrupted himslf as false realisation dawned again. "Brought to the palace in the arms of the dark haired Athenide."

Eudoros blinked in shock. "Perse Athenide?" He blurted.

So much for trying to avoid her name. "The very same!" Hermes said, deciding to continue the story. "She proclaimed, after what was apparently a lovely bit of theatrics, that the child had been made especially for them by her twin sister."

Thankfully Eudoros caught himself before he named Arsinoe aloud. "How? Did she shape the child from clay as your brother the Smith was?"

Yet another advantage to Camp, the Demigods didn't hear half so much false rumours.

"The Blacksmith of the God's was made the old fashioned way between my father and his wife." Hermes educated his son. "And no, apparently the child was woven in Penelope's image."

"How literal is that?"

"I have no idea. Perhaps if you had a message for the blessed couple I could deliver it for you, and then come back and tell you about it."

Eudoros glanced at his desk. "I have never corresponded with the King of Ithaca before. I do not know if he would accept such a message."

Well, that would be awkward. "Do you not have acquaintances in common? Did not Phthiotis have men among Eleni's suitors?"

"A very thin connection, as I believe every eligible man of royal blood presented themselves for Eleni's hand." Eudoros said dryly. "Perhaps you might agree to deliver a gift instead?"

That would do. "Gladly. Just a short three day journey there to stretch my legs, and I'll be right back!"

"For a God perhaps." Eudoros stood to go over to a chest, beginning to search through it. "You need not travel back on my account, I will be satisfied if the gift is received."

i know someone else has shared the wayback machine's link to thedevilsgarden's profile where a handful of mistynat fics were visible and only some could open, but i've done some hunting and have links to what i think are all the viewable/saved mistynat fics of theirs, so i thought i'd share direct links to all of them. most are wayback machine links but the last three don't work and could only be found in pdf format, so i uploaded those to a hosting site so they're readable online and there's no downloading necessary.

stranded series: canon divergent teen mistynat in the wilderness, where they get together early in season 1. there are 4 parts, but sadly, part 3 is impossible to access, as far as i've been able to try. it seems to be set during the last two episodes of s1 based on the summary and references to the events of it in part 4, but you can read part 4 without having read it since that's what i did.

nothing heals the same: nat breaks misty's nose by accidentally kicking a soccer ball into her face at practice and her good old catholic guilt has her unable to leave her side as she goes with her to the hospital and then home for the night.

sidelined: nat gets jealous when the yellowjackets biggest fan misty starts getting distracted during practice by new kid walter.

no strings attached: nat meets misty in college and they start up a friends with benefits arrangement, until nat finds herself catching feelings when walter enters the picture.

godless: canon divergent post s2 finale fic, where nat doesn't die, but she does temporarily lose her memory. she stays with misty as she struggles to adjust to everything, and misty struggles to adjust to this version of nat that isn't like hers.

at the end of my road: age gap fic, with canon adult misty and early 20s rockstar nat. it's the third part of a series, and i haven't had any luck finding links to try for the first two parts unfortunately, but in my opinion, it can be read on it's own well enough, even if you'll find yourself wishing you could read the first two parts.

- Just the cutest Angel you ever did see! When Serum descended to Earth, she decided 1.to be a girl and 2.to be cute as she could!

- Speaking of which, before Serum came to the surface, she spent a millennium in the sky watching over the world(alongside any other hypothetical angels/gods idk they didn't interact). Eventually she felt the overwhelming desire to join them, and after a long period or hemming and hawing she descended from the sky to join humanity!

- Upon reaching the surface, the first person Serum met happened to be Infected. Serum learned much about the world from him and the two just clicked! Shes friendly with most all the fellow elevator passengers but closest with Mozelle Poob and Split :) 

- About the "needs reminders about what is/isn't socially appropriate" thing, its MOSTLY about making out with Infected in the elevator. They're a very physically affectionate couple and somehow they just keep forgetting to chill out in public! (Don't worry though! As an angelic being Serum is immune to all sicknesses)

- Adores cooking and eating and sleeping and dreaming and everything new to her that she couldn't do before! Constantly in awe of this whole new world around her that was just outside her reach for so many years. Tries to cherish every moment

(i love google) It's a Scottish surname (also first name) that originates from the Gaelic word ceiteach // ceit which means “woodland” or “forest” and how fitting is that for him?? like the moment they go to Olkarion and he's looking at the outdoors, he says, "I like it out here. It's quiet" (s2e4). I feel like there are more instances of him expressing/showing his love for the outdoors, but I can't seem to remember any ahaha.

Keith living in the desert shack in isolation after Shiro went missing on the Kerberos mission is kinda tricky, but I gotta remind myself that canonly speaking, VLD Keith is an independent guy with a big heart (he does so much sacrificing for team Voltron, and he's constantly doing stuff for the greater good). I don't think he inherently likes being alone -- the poor guy has abandonment issues, and he's so lonely my heart breaks for him -- but I definitely think he appreciates nature. He has a hard time accepting and trusting people because of how he grew up, but he's never been let down by the outdoors. I think he finds a lot of solace in it, and I love how fitting this love is with his name :)
