It isn't even reading between the lines, we see Charles physically obstructing Alastairs movements and yelling at him on-page. Cordelia hears Elias throwing things at him on-page. Cassie explicitly said at an event I attended that Alastair has as much PTSD as a war veteran because of Elias. We also see him TELL THOMAS ON PAGE that the other kids at school beat him.

I know exactly who you're talking about lmao. Just block those blogs, they're always at it and literally comprehended nothing in TLH. They like 4 TSC characters and have done so much mental gymnastics to convince themselves that everyone else is Horrible because they apparently wronged those characters in ways they made up. They've been on and on about me personally for like 2 years (which is why I'm okay posting this) and it's honestly hilariously free entertainment when people send me screenshots. CASSIE!!!! YES her name is cassandra. partly because of greek mythology cassandra and partly because of taylor swift cassandra. (did you get apollo saying he thinks cassie never actually liked him?? wasn't really included much in the fic like i intended but cassie had a bad feeling,,,, darren didn't believe her)

she was absolutely the best aunt to kayla <3 this will be briefly mentioned/covered in the next pollen fic but darren moved in with cassie's parents after everything went down. they are very much what apollo's family is to nico, which i wanted to parallel (the reason i created cassie as a character in the first place bc usually i stay away from oc's - the last time i created one (alison from the shelper fic) she somehow became a new character in s2 of pjo. the most insane coincidence)

anyway she was a huge help for darren while raising kayla though once darren was once again stable she followed her dreams and traveled the world <3 she still visits very often but she is much more of a free spirit compared to darren and doesn't like to stay in one place. eventually she might find that she could be friends with apollo now that he's matured.

I've only read yj 98 and some of tim's robin run (i don't understand the timeline of new 52 at ALL)

are there any yj character moments from the new stuff that you really like or think were a good choice? do anita/greta/lobo/red tornado even show up at all in it?

POST YJ98 (2003-2016)

- anita shows up in YJ/titans graduation day which is the lead in to teen titans 2003. I think graduation day was Fine but it was very clearly just built to kill off donna and split the teams up into teen titans and outsiders

- teen titans 2003 is the continuation of the core four but cassie does end up moving schools to saint elias where we see greta + anita + cissie at school together iirc. I can’t in good conscience recommend you read this (the cassie character assassination was BRUTAL) but if you want to follow the storyline after the ending of yj98, this is where you would have to go. but if you’re asking my opinion — this is terrible

POST REBIRTH (2016-present)

- young justice 2019 was cute !! people have strong hater opinions but idk it was fine and I think a solid read if you’re really missing the core four. none of the girls besides cassie show up but we get a core four reunion. and it was pretty decent (unlike other stuff on this list). I genuinely think it’s on the better end of tim characterization and kon and bart and cassie are all like. back and existing and kon got his old design and I really can’t hate it that much

- greta shows up in stargirl: the lost children which I read all of but like . hmm. it’s good as a limited run but greta is only in the background and cameos a little, she is not the focus, and she’s a ghosty girl again </3 I don’t. super like that. but if that’s what they want to do it’s fine I just want greta back

- anita was literally accidentally retconned into a villain in dark crisis: young justice 😭 do NOT read that it’s so bad

- that being said cissie does actually play a role in dcyj but her character was assassinated so bad it was actually tragic

- I believe cissie shows back up in green arrow 2023 but I haven’t read it / idk if it’s released yet but she’s back as arrowette which is an. interesting choice (<- DC has no idea what to do with cissie and it SHOWS she hasn’t been good since ttv3)

- the WFAification of tim means he is pretty much unrecognizable from his yj98/robin 93 self in the modern stuff. I hate the direction they have taken him

- I heard superboy: man of tomorrow was pretty good if you want to read something for kon ‼️

- bart was depthless but cute in one minute war. he was the only one who was semi okay in dcyj

- cassie is in the new wonder woman run and people have Opinions about how they handled her but I don’t hate it for what it is, which is trying to reconcile cassie’s character arc into some sort of linear order

What "formula" are they talking about exactly (and if it's just specific to Ant-Man movies), because this one (Ant-Man wise) seemed a bit "darker" compared to previous ones. Whatever, I’m not going to delve more into whether it’s good or bad because there’s no point in that. I’m personally fine with it.

I’m also tired of people badmouthing Quantumania because I personally think it’s good. Yes, it’s darker than the first two, but if I recall correctly, we were told Phase 4 would be darker, and since Quantumania opened the phase, we shouldn’t have been surprised it was darker too.

I’m not saying you’re badmouthing anything, Anon. This frustration is not directed towards you; I promise. You’re fine.

So anyway, Anon, here’s the Marvel formula:

Hero intro (which, ya know, important for a hero movie)

Villain intro (bonus points if villain is like an evil version of the hero)

Add a pinch of romance

Have someone important to the hero die (optional) bonus points if it’s a sacrifice

Add lots of humor. This isn’t DC comics after all. (Jk DC comics fans, I had to make the joke I’m sorry)

Make sure the villain is or becomes more powerful than the hero (which makes it more interesting imo but whatever)

Okay🫡 here are my thoughts on the first chapter 🧍🏼‍♀️

Magnus/Will/James interactions are HILARIOUS it's seriously the best part. I love this "two friends vibing while the third one's trying to find the most convenient window to jump out of" energy. Will having fun and asking James "r u still depressed kid?" every few hours is MY family dynamic, I relate so much it's scary.

I just don't understand why Will and Magnus don't try to push him harder? He's on the verge of telling everything and if he doesn't do it in the next chapter I'll blow up this book and then myself🧍🏼‍♀️

Matthew/Cordelia dynamic is... Strange 👀

So on one hand it's pretty satisfying to watch Cordelia living her vogue model life and her and Matthew eating in most fancy places and just enjoying their lives✨💃🏽 Great to know at least someone is having fun in this book😮‍💨 + now I must have an art with Cordelia in all those dresses, I'd look at them like Matthew did 👁️👄👁️💭❤️‍🔥

But on the other hand, Cassie is making Cordelia blind for the plot sake and it makes Daisy look stupid and selfish which is not her fault at this point, it's for the "OMG HE'S STILL DRINKING?!?🤯 I didn't see him drinking when he was around me which equals he stopped😦he promised to stop why it didn't work 😱🙎🏼‍♀️" twist.

I genuinely believe that Ariadne's arc is gonna be one of the best.

I don't know, I just love the way Beau always introduces himself and Jenny (helps for me to also remember to not pronounce his name with a French accent 🤣). The way he just says deputy, as he's the sheriff and it's a given that she's his (deputy), so it suffices 🥺 So sexy of him 🔥💘

"Do you mind if I call you Toby?" Why's he so funny for? 🥰🤣

"I know how that goes." Give me more of Beau's backstory! Clearly he's still mourning and feeling guilty. It has got me feeling some type of way. I want to know (in Beau's own words) what happened with Randy, I want him to be able to talk about it with someone who genuinely cares *cough Jenny cough*, so he can start to let go of the misplaced blame he's feeling and heal 😭💔

Beau jumping in to stop the dead guy's dad from doing something he'd regret, and then being there for him, I just love him so much ❤ He's such a good guy, and he's so good at his job. And he understands people 🥺

I love the way Beau and Jenny sit leaning towards each other 🥺💕

They're being good cop, good cop with Walter this episode. I enjoy that.

What was the reason Cassie vented about her boyfriend, and then asked Jenny about Beau, if not to show that there's something there? And that Cassie knows it (and Madge. And Poppernak. And Gigi.)?

Jenny barely restraining herself from reaching out to Beau and comforting him when he was talking about the "victim" blaming himself, you can see her physically reaching out before she stops herself, it says everything. She cares about him so much 🥺💕 If they make her lose him..... (especially when it isn't necessary, Beau can be written out in other ways).

What I really love about the scene with Frank is that though Jenny is surprised and maybe doesn't agree with Beau's reaction, she presents a united front. She doesn't say a word, doesn't undermine & embarrass him by saying anything. She always has his back 🥺 Jenny understands that it affected Beau, and simply stands by him. When they're alone, she gives him a chance to open up and is willing to listen to as much or as little as he wants to share, is there for him & supports him. It shows how much she cares about him & respects him 💕

Seeing how at home Beau and Jenny look in his office together has my heart all 💓🥺

This episode, they literally paralleled a wife who'd stuck with her grieving husband who was in a dark place and blaming himself, with Jenny being there for Beau and supporting him with his guilt and grief, and that's a choice they made so I hope they follow through with it

The chase scene 🔥 I stan 👑💯💅🏻

Beau turning towards Jenny when she's restraining the bad guy, looking to make sure she's okay 🥺

Beau and Jenny sitting together, talking under the shooting stars makes me feel a lot of emotions 🥺💕✨ There's something so sweet and special and wholesome about it. And the fact that Jenny points out the shooting star to him and says "the shooting star", not "a shooting star", meaning they were actually sitting watching the sky, looking for shooting stars, and that just has me feeling all the emotions 💞

Them hanging out together, having a heart to heart, I love that for them and I love that for me 🥺💕

And Jenny once again telling Beau that he's a good person, I love this so much. She's so good for him, they deserve to be happy together 💕 And he called her Jenny again! 🥺 Might our good sheriff be on his way to letting her in completely? 👀

Beau and Jenny have such a complex dynamic, they work so well together as a team, trust each other with their lives, they support each other in hard times, they can flirt and tease, but also have intimate conversations, the sizzling chemistry!🥺💝 Definition of true love. And this episode the Beau/Jenny true love energy intensified. The whole episode, Jenny was so worried and caring, but didn't once push him to share something he wasn't ready to, just was there for him and supported him 🥺

Jenny's getting hurt next week, possibly quite a lot, and if I don't get scenes of Beau worried sick about her, running around unhinged trying to find her, fussing over her, if they're glossed over (because I KNOW he's going to be worried), I riot

And I have to say this, if they're trying to push Beau with his abusive, manipulative ex, then I don't understand why they'd consistently show Jenny having feelings for him. Just to humiliate and hurt her again, have a man pick another woman over her. Again? A third time? I hope the focus on Jenny's feelings for Beau means that they're not going down that route (a route that would be detrimental for him), because I can't imagine someone disrespecting their lead like that, making her the third wheel in a love triangle. That would just be very disrespectful to treat Jenny, a lead, and Beau, a season regular, like that. Especially when there are better ways to write out the character, ways that don't end with Beau in an abusive relationship and Jenny heartbroken. Here's to hoping that if they're showing Beau and Jenny having feelings for each other, and focusing this much on her feelings, then, that there's a reason (Beau/Jenny endgame reason). Not to mention, how ooc it would be if Beau were to suddenly have feelings for his ex, after the way him and Jenny are together. There's the flirting, and the heart to hearts, the trust. The way he looks at her! Beau just isn't the kind of guy to be being this way with someone while being stuck on someone else. I just don't buy it.

Jenny Hoyt a better woman than me, because with the way Emily acts, and the way Carla is always insulting Jenny for no reason, I don't know how she managed to say that Emily is a good kid, or that Carla could ever raise a good kid.

The McCallisters

Beau deserves a better daughter. After all season (and the months during hiatus, the 6 months before), NOW she wants to hang out when she can snoop and use him for an internship? That's not love. Love is what Beau's been showing. Thinking about her, caring, being concerned, trying over and over again to hang out with her, even when she does nothing but dismiss him. That's love. And she doesn't deserve it. And the way Emily would literally stoop to snooping on her own father, no one is safe, I can't with her. And she knows what she's doing is wrong, she knows she's invading his privacy and he wouldn't want her going through his things like this (that's why we see her looking back to make sure he's not coming), and yet, she does it anyway because she has no respect or care for him. I'm very confused about which aspect of this character I'm supposed to find endearing or why I'm supposed to care about her safety. And like, why is she being rewarded for her snooping and encouraged to do some more? Wasn't finding one dead body enough? I truly cannot, she is SO annoying, and I'd prefer to see less, not more, of her 😑 And I hate that they're messing with characterization to do this. They're writing Beau so ooc, just to make Emily more important (as if she wasn't unfairly taking up enough of the focus as it is). This is a man who was ready, every single episode, to get her out of the camp if there was any trouble not at the camp itself, but in the vicinity. He was on the verge of tears when he couldn't get her on the phone, even though service was bad up there. And now he's going to help her be at a detective agency? Yeah, no, that's just not right, I'm sorry, but it's not. And sure, could he be doing it to keep her out of trouble, have the agency essentially babysit her? No, because he's not stupid, and he knows what she's like, so having access to all that stuff, she is going to snoop. And nothing in the way he's been written shows that he'd want that. I just can't, smh.

No, but like, Beau left everything behind, his family, his home, his friends, to live in a cramped trailer in the middle of nowhere for Emily, that's not a big deal. Not a sacrifice worth acknowledging. He did let the cereal expire though, so he truly is the worst, smh. Jail. Jail for a thousand years 😔 And am I to understand that this is the first time Emily is visiting Beau in the past 8-9 months? Because you know she's spoiled enough that if she'd seen it before, she would've whined about it already. Also also, do the writers just think it's funny to make fun of him when these two women are around, or..... because this doesn't make sense. He hasn't even been living in the trailer (or Montana) for a year. So unless he already had a box of expired cereal in his house in Texas, that he decided to lug all the way to Montana, then keep in his cabin for 6 months, and then bring it to the trailer, he couldn't have a box of cereal that expired a year ago. Also, the way it was supposedly his fault that breakfast wasn't ready, except, it was Emily who was too busy snooping to find the grill.......

I hate the way Emily breaks the rules, snoops, gets into "traumatic" situations, it's her and Carla's decision for Emily to not spend time with him. And in the end, it's Beau who sits there feeling guilty and like he's not enough, for things that are a direct result of their actions 😒

Carla (or the people who think Beau going back to her would be a good idea), I truly cannot stand. We have yet to have a singular interaction between Beau and Carla without her being condescending and rude to him, putting him down, not even one, and I'm supposed to believe he's still in love with that? W H Y ? And that's not how the character's written or acted. Every time there's danger at the camp, Beau's all, I have to get my daughter out. He said he had to stay in Montana, for his daughter. He hates Avery and how shady he is, for his daughter. Never once Carla. Sure, Beau wants Carla to be okay, but that's because he's not like her, he doesn't have a need to inflict harm upon her because they're no longer together, AND it's not inherently romantic, quite normal actually, considering they have a kid. I just really hope they're not suddenly going to do a 180 and start to write Beau super out of character and weird, as if he has feelings for that manipulative woman, who has not a single loyal or kind bone in her body, nor any concern or respect for him. Also, why is she once again calling Beau next episode? Go call your husband and ask for his help 🙄 Leave Beau alone. And I don't understand people who want Carla to leave Avery. What are y'all on, he's literally perfect for her. They're a match made in hell, both equally shady, condescending and rude 💏

The Barnes and The Bleeding Heart Killer

Something that's so interesting and funny, but also spooky, is just how scared of Sunny Donno is. Donno, who worked for the cartel. Donno, who lived in the back of a butcher shop and thought he heard the animals moving. Donno, who we've seen chop people up with no qualms. But one word from Sunny, and he's so scared. He can sense her darkness.

Sunny and Paige unhinged team up!? 😱 I'd like to see. But Paige really fell for Walter, huh. Maybe not at the "I love you" stage yet, but definitely ready to risk it all to save him. I'd consider Stockholm Syndrome, but if anything, she was manipulating him more than the other way around, soo.... 😈🖤

I don't know yet why Buck has been carving the hearts, but I don't think he's the killer. He's probably been doing that to make Sunny think Walter is just a bit crazier than he is.

And I do have a theory about who the Bleeding Heart Killer is: Walter's adoptive parents. They "hurt" at least Meredith. The killer had several victims whose names we don't know yet. And the killer stopped 20 years ago, right when Walt burned and killed his adoptive parents. And being raised by serial killers would explain.... a lot about why he is the way he is.

- the bane chronicles is fun especially if you like magnus.

- tftsa was so cute i loved her (read nothing but shadows before you read tlh)!!

- ghosts of the shadow market is definitely super important for world building for tlh and twp, so i strongly recommend reading it before them (it could be a little boring at times, i admit. but jessa is adorable). read cast long shadows and every exquisite thing before you read tlh. the rest is a lot of world building for kit’s background and jessa.

- OH OH also read the tec series if you haven’t (it follows malec) and i think it’ll eventually connect to twp.

- i believe cassie has these short stories about the tlh cast set before chain of gold. i remember reading them every month on her newsletter before the book came out. i think you can find them on her website? they’re not super important but they do get referenced once in a while in tlh

Okay I'm gonna start by saying that I had a strange relationship w TDA. I mentioned some of this in my initial post but I'm just gonna go through everything for continuity sake, if you will. Last summer I intended to finish the 3 series before my semester started. I got through all of TMI and TID but finished only LM and 150-ish pages of LoS. I waited till this summer to pick back up. I remember feeling bitter when I started LM because it was strange to have a modern-set book that didn't focus on my fave TMI gang (I watched the CoB movie religiously when I was younger and, before I knew better, watched the show weekly). It took me a while for Emma to grow on me and I initially had a hard time keeping track of all of the Blackthorns because there were so many of them. What kept me going were all of the connections to Mr. Poe (yes, I just called him that. deal with it.) I've started rambling so let me summarize this portion by saying that TDA didn't snatch me up until mid-LoS. okay, onward.

QoAaD was so reminiscent of CoHF and I loved it very much. WARNING SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO MAY READ THIS FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON. I appreciate the importance of the Thule portion and know the book would be shit without it, but, despite it still being fantastical, the apocalyptic vibe was not my fave. It was nice to get Livvy back for a bit (can I just say how shocking it was to have her death right after Robert? cause I feel like cc v rarely kills important characters so I thought Robert was fulfilling the death requirement yk?) and I LOVE to hate Sebastian. I'm gonna say something crazy here. I love Kit and Kieran more than I love a majority of the Blackthorns. Kit has been my fave character from this trilogy and I am not ashamed to admit it. The entire Ty Livvy spell shit was crazy because I completely felt Kit and wasn't angry at him for not outright saying that it was a bad idea, especially given the situation. I just can't believe cc had me expecting them to be fully in love with each other by then end, ONLY FOR THEM TO NOT EVEN BE ON SPEAKING TERMS (yes I know I need to be up to date w SoBH, I just need business day or two to marinate in my TDA emotions). The battle was epic, Julien's meeting was genius, Kieran is a great king, and the Malec wedding nearly had me sobbing. I'm gonna stop here w my thoughts on QoAaD cause it's getting out of hand. I am so sorry I am typing you up a full essay.

Predictions:

watch cc give us a 3rd plot that gets crazy because of some questionable heavenly fire incident (I mean, technically all three series plots that I've read have involved it if you count Jace's affect on Jem).

I'm super worried about a main character death because I think it would shatter me but it's also probably necessary? idk I dont wanna think about it

I also feel like something crazy is gonna happen to Aline and Helen because although they were literally exiled, nothing too traumatic happened to them in the main line of the story that the reader got to directly experience

not a prediction but truly me BEGGING ON MY KNEES for Jace and Kit content. I need them to be drama Herondales together. Also, Jace literally told him to come to him for personal advice so Jace helping Kit deal w his relationship w/feelings for Ty would be ideal (I really don't know how that would happen but let a person dream)

Don't worry about mansplaining, youre good bae. I'm in the loop but I'm also not at the same time, if that makes any sense at all (there goes my promise of writing in a comprehensive manner). The only reason I haven't purchased the novellas is solely because it's more efficient for me to purchase a box set of a trilogy. (I do have the Codex and The Denizens of the Downworld books though). when chrissy locks eyes with you for the first time, her heart beats faster than it ever has. she feels like it’s the first time she’s ever been able to see clearly her entire life. it’s not until you tap her shoulder to bring her back to reality that she realizes you’re right in front of her. you two got paired up for a class project, and now for an entire month, you had to study the human mind and how complex it works. you don’t know how grateful chrissy is that you were willing to repeat the assignment to her, because she was NOT listening to the teacher the moment you sat beside her.

chrissy had always known she liked girls the way she shouldn’t. she tried her best to distract herself with men, and with jason especially, she felt like she’d been getting somewhere. but when every single weekday, she sat beside you and got to know you more, nothing seemed to work anymore and she couldn’t handle the feeling. oh, and don’t even mention the fact you two not only were together period six every day- but now, every saturday was study day for you two. chrissy felt like she was going crazy.

somehow, a discussion landed on sexuality. with how close you two became in the past month, chrissy felt comfortable confiding in you about how she felt about girls but never mentioned anything about how she felt about you in particular. you weren’t just any girl, you were you. you were the beautiful awsten she could never seem to get her mind off of. wait a sec, why are you making that face? why do you look so confused?

“Oh my goodness, did I just-“ Chrissy put a hand over her mouth and a hand over her heart. “I’m so sorry, I can’t believe I just said that out loud, I-I was just- I was talking and… that all came out. I’m really sorry, jeez I’m so sorry!”

“Chris, it’s okay,” you reassured, a soft smile on your face as you bashfully looked away to gather your own thoughts into words. “Um, I actually… I really, really do like you. I just, I didn’t know what to say considering you’re with Jason and everything, and the fact you’re just… you. Not like that’s a bad thing! It’s just, well, I don’t want to lose you. Not over something silly like this.”

Chrissy looked back up at your eyes, her hands still placed where they were previously, but she put them by her sides and stood up in front of you. You were very visibly confused until you were pushed backward from your sitting position on your bed to a now laying one, Chrissy’s arms wrapped around you as she hugged you with her face in the comfort of your neck.

“You won’t lose me. You’ll never lose me, Aws.” Chrissy smiled into your neck. You happily hugged her back in a more comfortable position, the two of you laid there for the next few minutes. You could worry about Jason and everything else later, but now- it felt too perfect to let this feeling go.
