Where has Eao been 2023 edition

Another year, another bunch of excuses from me about why I am not nearly as active as I was. The difference this year being whilst I may have kept to myself before but still logged in and enjoyed solo content in a limited capacity, the solo content stream has become a slow drip. Every day log ins have become once or twice a week to save my houses and resend out airships.

I can say that life has been hard, but that's an understatement. Expect PWYW pet comms to come back accordingly because of it, at least until I can get a promotion (more on that later). Health issues are abundant, going to a doctor with any family member (husband or child) feels a bit like running into traffic. My child is handling middle school exactly like I did, minus a few disturbing behaviors that I did but add in new disruptive behaviors that are uniquely her own. I myself am still fighting treatment resistant depression and I am often thinking of the quote "I am my melancholy and my melancholy is me".

It's not all bad, however. I am making a concerted effort to stay grounded in the real world. Whilst it would be so easy in theory to just run back off to Eorzea and hide from the real world for a break, I recognize this is not healthy for me.

I've instead been focusing on redirecting intrusive thoughts into home improvement. I've been in a constant state of renovating one end of my house or the other. I could have a pressure washing channel at this point for how often I have used it.

I've also made a steadier effort to connect to with my friends. Once a month hang outs have turned into random nights out on short whims and planned crawfish boils, cookouts, spa days, you name it.

I've been focusing on my job in a way I haven't in a long time. The efforts have paid off and within the next three months I should be receiving a promotion that would change my life. It would be a position offered to people with social work masters degrees, but I just stuck around and learned over the past three years. I am so excited, not for the raise (maybe not just for the raise) but for the real world impact I can make once I get there...

I've been almost most importantly focusing on the health of myself and my entire body. I am down over 60 lbs and it's been freeing. To go outside and touch the grass figuratively, I can't actually touch it because I am very much allergic to it. Walking has become my exercise of choice and I'm doing upwards for five intention miles a day which feels amazing. I'm proud of where I have been and where I am going, but also where I am.

All this to say.. I may be back, but at this point I may not be back in anywhere near the capacity I once was, and that's okay. To be the old fogie in the corner keeping to myself and just watching others in their adventures and silently cheering them on in my head. Or butting in occasionally on Alric and making quick friends for the night. My future in this community is one that is uncertain, but that isn't a bad thing. Merely a "I'll be there when I can."

It’s been 3 hours.

He’s been serving, spiking, tossing for 3 whole hours.

This was how he blew off steam - repetitively trying to prove to himself that it wasn’t because he’s incompetent. 

I didn’t lead my team into defeat, he tries to swallow. I didn’t fail them. These thoughts plagued him loudly, completely drowning out whatever sounds surrounded him at the moment.

Volleyballs littered the court; a billowing clap echoing through the gym from the impact of each spike. This has become a routine he has with himself when suffering a loss - he channels his restlessness into practice until he has no other but to rest. Anyway, he’s used to picking himself back up every time, realizing that some things are beyond his control, but he knows he has to let himself ride this wave of uneasiness. And what a mighty wave it was today.

He toppled over out of exhaustion. He sat on the floor of the empty gym, head bowing down, trying to catch his breath from overexertion. With palms faced up, nearly purple from all the friction, he didn’t even notice how numb they’ve gotten. He had to admit he was being a little cruel with himself today.

“Finally had enough?”

He was jolted out of his wallowing by the familiar consolation of your voice. His head whipped to look over his shoulder, and there you stood - the very subject of his affection. Somehow, even with concern pooling from your eyes, fondness still curved over your lips. Just the sight of you made the ringing in his ears stop, and he was now wrapped in a warm silence - like the heat from a fireplace after hours in a blizzard. 

You walked over to where he sat, finding a spot on the floor across him. You reached out and held his hands in yours.

“Go easy on yourself,” you pleaded as you studied his callouses, “I don’t like seeing you like this.”

He sighed as you started to trace shapes on his palms. “I don’t know how else to quiet my thoughts, dearest,” he tried to explain, “this is what I’ve always done to make myself feel better.”

You raised an eyebrow at him. “And how’s that working out for ya, Mr. Hotshot?” Your tone was playful, clearly referring to the sorry state of his hands. Even your teasing brought some slight comfort to him, like it was a reminder that everything else in his life remains the same. 

“You know, you and I are a team, right?”

He blinked at your words. His mouth was slightly parted, about to question the intent behind them, but right then, it hit him.

He was no longer alone. Years spent trying to be an icon, an image, an idea for others to project themselves on; a person who was worth looking up to, who was worthy of being put on a pedestal - these were the things he had always worked towards, carrying this weight on his shoulders by himself. But these were the same things that got him to where he is now: soaked with sweat, barely able to catch his breath, hands swelling from a numbing pain.

Now, it was different. He no longer felt the need to prove himself constantly. The fear of not being enough no longer lingers, and nothing worries him in the middle of the night when he lets his own walls down. He now knows that when his hands are grasping for relief, they don’t have to be numbed by electrifying pain. You’ll be right there, as you are now - soothing circles into his skin, quieting the voices that plague him even when there’s no one in the stands.

Witchy wanderer altar (Step by step) #CreativeUpcycling

Yeah that’s for the little pagan sparkle of soul within you <3

I’ve filmed (uploading rightnow) a complete tour of my handmade from Z. Wanderer Altar. Meanwhile i do adapt this step by step which i initially shared with a forum, and i thought it could very well please a larger group because of the upcycling notion.

This complete tour (yes even inside the drawers, you kids ! ) consists in sharing what i did, how i did, for what need, so that if you’re a creative soul too, with a connexion to nature and/or the universe, or “putHereYourOwnBelief” guys, embark the journey of creative upcycling ! Anyways, you can adapt to your path, tools, ressources, and taste, i’m just here to resend sparkles of inspiration & hope for the best :D

So i called it an “altar” but let me clarify why. I’m not a religious person at all, really, i’m definitelly into quantum physics and experiments or theories when i wonder about something, and the universe sends me (litterally) weird experiences opening even mooooore arborescent questions haha ! Do you know that feeling ? like “ Yeah, funny joke, well played Universe... well played ! “

So my perception is really a big equation of connected dots, made out of experiences, brillant ppl’s very “truth” sounding theories (follow your guts, it’s your path), about so many various subjects. I was born with too many questions and that so F. Frustrating feeling to have lost a tremendous knowledge that couldn’t retrieve in a whole life. so i constantly watch docs, read, take notes, connect the dots. #Truthseekingbookworm...

So as i say, i don’t properly need some god/goddesses/deities/archetypes/spirits/anthropomorphisations of actually vibes, frequencies that i can rely on, connect to, at any time, from within me. I created statues i Think it’s both for aesthetism and i’m very attached to the celtic culture, i spent parts of my life as a kid in french britany among the standing stones and feel rooted there for ever. Among natural reasons i feel drawn to : I actually live in a city built on an ancient Meldes tribe site the romanised gauls named “thorianicus”, it’s close to paris by a river that was worshiped by gauls (french celts) and re-named in latin by the romans “dea matrona” meaning “mother goddess”. Modern french name became “La Marne” sadly we lost the real name. But a part of her is probably inspiring me for the nayade hidden in the tree branches ;)

This small universe in a nutshell box came out to be actually my everyday, but on the go #TheEndIsNear ... temple ? tabernacle. I Bet that if i die it will become one, and that shit will be haunted XD

I’ve always spoken “to the universe” since i was a kid, from anywhere, from inside, bc. it is inside of each of us. So basically, no need to have that box but now i feel attached to it ! It's not perfect but made out of scraps so i absolutely wouldn't change for a readymade fancy stuff, i put all my soul into that like any artistic work. So i share too, may some elements inspire you too !

Yes it took me a while but totally worth it. Thanks to:  

1.what I had around. Matters may inspire you a lot. when i see scraps i see a potential, try to search around with that perspective.

3. What you wonderers & wanderers altars inspired to me+ maybe whatever creative guide i channeled, who knows ? :p

4. my own needs, like basic essential oils to cure basic “bobology”, my little tresaures like family link and talismans, crystals, tarots, pendulum, a space for cleaning salt box, cauldron to burn things, herbs, resines... make my own inks for drawings, a space to stock symbols of elements like water and earth, to keep me connected, rooted the old way. + some hooks for samples of herbs so i can let them dry while on a trip ... well you’ll have to adapt yours depending on your needs ! :)

well for my experience, it gave this (not that heavy) cabinet and I absolutely adore it.

Here I gathered a few pics that I took during the process, for those temeraire people who feel they can take the same path 😅 And welcome to my Atelier!

Basic stuff i used for the basic boxes assemblage (like reused fruit boxes + a rough wood jewellery box fitting in the big boxes -> i reused the metal parts onto the big box, the mirror as a shelf and cases as a crystals drawer. the top part became the front board of two small cardboard drawers inside, you'll see later)

Measures -> cutting a spare thin (and light) wood board to fit around the fruit cagettes

Gluegun is my bestie ! Reinforcing the hinges with a fabric strong ribbon, filling all the holes with glue like a gross job really, but it will be strong :

Sanding angles to have a smoother aspect on the shelves

Being careful to remove some sticking out traps :s

putting nails to reinforce the outer structure + sanding all edges :

Before painting it in a very dark "ardoise" grey, only one layer so it looks odd&old. I may sand it a while in the end to make it look older, i'll see. I don't want it too steampunk. Maybe just a little authentic shabby boho type o'shit. I kind of oscilate btw my gypsy and my goth generation side XD  Goth saves the Cube ! *bats dramatically flying all over*

You saw that type of rough nails ? i like it.

here i added (left side) 2 dollar store cardboard boxes that fited nicely including the size of the thin layer in btw, to guide the 2 drawers (lucky me) but use whatever you have and adapt, it's the key. If you don't find anything, build it (see my all wooden box on the right) just gluegun and scraps, sanded the excedent and it fits fine.

Here i used wood scrap + glued upcycled leather with rivet buttons (old jacket sewed borders and rivets + table”cloth” made of transparent vynile) to close the papers/carnet pocket but keep a possiibility to stuck a visualisation card of mine to help meditation focus possibly. Wood scraps are here to create a depht to the pocket, up and down the square :

Meanwhile, sculpting/modeling my treetrones/shelves/deco/pagan wibbly wobbly

Meanwhile, also doing a cauldron out of remaining clay, (recycling a metalic succulent pot by the way) including binded protective and empowering runes blablahblah

Then i added a typical Horned or green god/cernnunos/male solar yang god principle loved inside the feminine tree & a Triple feminine lunar yin archetype within the male tree

Acrylic painting, dry paint, no water (clay will absorb it). Used an army green and black as an underlayer, then i added old gold touches as a patine and contrasted theblack areas and that's it.

Added a led copper garland to bring the light anywhere with the box and i’m done :)

Ask-a-Palooza Round 5:  Fitz

As I said in a post a bit ago I simply have too many asks in my inbox to take them on one by one.  Because there some overlap I’m doing metas for the big ones.  I will have to go through and delete what is in there after so once I”m done if I didn’t properly address your ask feel free to resend.

Since I’ve been out of the mix there have been a number of great metas on what happened with Fitz and what could still be going on.   I feel like I’m a day late with Starbucks coming in now.  This is where I”m at on this and many of these will shift as more information comes out.  

What happened to Fitz?

He suffered a break/split.  Overwhelmed by stress, exhaustion, fear, his previous TBI, and the events of his Framework it all became too much and he suffered a split.  

The Doctor persona emerged in full force in order to ‘protect’ Fitz in a way and do what FItz couldn’t bring himself to do in order to close the rift. 

What triggered the split?

It’s been building for a long time and a lot of factors contributed to it.   

His previous TBI

The life he lead in the Framework from AIDA’s manipulation to Alistair’s abuse.

Fitz’s guilt about the Framework and events of last season.

FItz’s fear of losing Jemma or her getting hurt.  

The previous times The Doctor appeared this season were when Jemma was in danger.

Rewind:  When he watched her taken by another monolith and Enoch refused to help.

Fun and Games:  When Kasius had her as a slave he channeled and used The Doctor’s persona to get into Kasius’s head and free the girls.  

Past Life:  When the Kree were hunting them down.

FItz trying to protect Daisy and honor her wishes.  Deep down he knew what the solution was but was unwilling to do it.   The Doctor was.  

Six months of captivity and isolation with Hale. 

Stress

Fear

Exhaustion 

Desperation to close the rift. 

Is Fitz the Doctor and evil now?

No, the Doctor I saw in 14 was not the same Doctor from the Framework.  This one was a result of Fitz’s spit.  And his purpose was to do what Fitz wouldn’t.  We all know what the Doctor is really capable of.  Had had access to Hydra bots and the Base’s Command Center.  Had he wanted everyone dead, they would be.  Had he wanted to escape after, he could have.  

Fitz doesn’t want to take over the world, doesn’t want to kill or experiment on Inhumans, doesn’t want to hurt his friends, he wants to save the World and protect his friends and family.  

However, the Doctor is very much part of Fitz now and he has to find that balance.  Use that shadow when he needs too.  Daisy and May had no hesitation about using it in the clip for 15, literally saying they wanted to use the super villain they had to get insight on Hale.  

A common trait that Fitz and The Doctor shared was his protectiveness of his friends and the woman he loved.  AIDA twisted it, put herself in Jemma’s place, and exploited that in order to get him to protect her, build Looking Glass, and give herself powers.  That protectiveness, that desire to protect and save not just Jemma but everyone else, is stronger than ever.  What Fitz has to work out is the best way to go about doing that...the Doctor’s methods might be the most ‘effective’ for lack of a better word but aren’t always the best way to go.  IE how he stopped the Kree.   

Fitz needs to and will find that balance.  

What does Fitz have?

Fitz’s exact condition is currently unknown and it’s unclear if they ever give him a proper diagnosis.  I am by no means an expert on mental illness and am not going to step on the toes of those who are far far far more qualified to speak to this.  The options I have seen metas on include. 

Its an extension of his TBI from Season 2.

Schizophrenia, as Fitz

What now?

It’s complicated.  Fitz needs help and by the end of 15 its very clear that Jemma is going to be there for him, “we are invincible”.  

Jed said Jemma is the one who will be able to help him heal.  Now that she knows what he is facing she can help him get to that place where he has a balance.  His love for her is never a question, nor is hers for him.  Recovery is going to be rough but she knows they will be okay and they have a future together, the literal embodiment of that future is now living with them in Deke.  

I feel this family dynamic will go a long way in helping Fitz heal as well.  

The rest of the team all seemed to have different reactions and these reactions could contribute to the rift I see coming.  

Mack was the one that gave Jemma the “we are invincible” realization.   He said that even in the Framework there was good in Fitz.   

Elena ???? She was asleep during the clip.

May empathized with him, she was Hydra in there as well, and she also regretted some of the things he had to do (not that she condoned the how it happened).

Coulson kidnapped and has no clue what is going on back home.

Daisy is rightfully angry at him.  Fitz isn’t even going to ask for her forgiveness.  She is also worried for and desperate to find Coulson.

Fallout has to happen before healing can being.  They can’t have a game changing plot twist like this and then everything be okay.  So hang tight.

Is Fitz going to die?

Every season I get more asks about Fitz dying than anyone else combined as the end of the season draws near.  

No, I am actually not really getting any main character is going to die vibes yet.  Last season at this point I was very certain as to Mace and Radcliffe’s fates.   

I also don’t feel that Fitz dying and then them finding the Fitz off orbiting with Enoch is an option either.  It throws all of the development away.  The engagement, wedding, his relationship with Deke, and the good and bad of what is to come as he continues to recover.  

What does this mean for the Fitzsimmons Family?

As I addressed in Round 2 Fitzsimmons are going to be okay.  Jemma left him to help him in Season 2 but she won’t do that again.  She never lost faith in him in the Framework and she won’t now.  He needs her now more than ever.  

The recovery won’t always be happy, but they will get there, together.

Deke knows that they get through it too.  He is a beacon of hope for both Fitz and Jemma.  Proof they have a daughter and she goes on to have a son.  He is full of stories about how kind his Grandfather was and what a good man he was.   Deke also knows from his mother how much his grandparents loved each other.  

Jeff said in a Wondercon interview that Deke sees the mother he loved so much in Jemma.   So I think that if 17/18 goes down how I suspect and Fitzsimmons land in mortal peril Deke isn’t only going to be fighting to save his friends/grandparents but his mother (especially if Jemma is pregnant).

Back to Work

As you likely know by now, I had a bereavement in the family earlier this week, and have been taking some time away from videos to get my head together. I had announced on Friday January 27th that I was taking a hiatus while I rushed to join my family before the passing, which has helped me cope with what has just happened. Since I got back home, I've mostly been taking things easy, and I was preparing to get back to work soon, since this is a very busy period for me.

What I will say is that the uploads may be a little intermittent, since events are still ongoing. I could put out loads of videos at once, or be away for over a week; I can't be sure at this point, but I mention it just in case.

I think the first video I will likely have out is a Projector for The LEGO Batman Movie at some point in the next few days, since I wanted to review that and it's likely going to be an easy one to get me back into things. I've also got to catch up on T2 Trainspotting, as well as reviews of A United Kingdom and Ballerina (AKA Leap!) that I didn't manage to do before these sudden events unfolded. One that will probably be shelved for a while is a review of Mum's List, a small British film that deals with the issue of bereavement and cancer, which you can understand why I don't want to talk about that at this present moment.

I am going to do a Bad Movie Beatdown 2016 video, but it will not be a full "Review Of..." video like previous years and simply a "Best and Worst" video. This is partly because the longer retrospective takes a very long period to make that I simply don't have at this moment with all my other projects and it's just not realistic to start doing such a video in February (some of my patrons may recall that I didn't post a single video in January 2016, which is because the "Review of 2015" video took so long to make). It will still be the same format, but without the looks at specific events in the year, and my apologies to anyone who is disappointed by this. I should have started writing it earlier, but work got on top of me somewhat.

Speaking of Bad Movie Beatdown, there is another episode in the can that still needs to be completed - namely, Leap Year, which has now taken an entire year to come to fruition (it was scripted last February). This episode was filmed in August 2016, but because of preparations for ALcon and my trip to Chicago in September, which led to me trying to catch up on my backlog (again, my work getting on top of me), I never got around to recording the voiceover narration. Now I'm in a somewhat awkward situation because the opening link has me reference that I'm recording the episode in an actual leap year (2016), which no longer makes sense unless I insert a title card there, or I reshoot the link to mention I will be releasing the episode in February. Either way, apologies for not getting this one out sooner, and if it seemed like I was little grouchy when people were asking me where episodes were, that was the reason.

On a related note, you may have noticed that there have been more episodes of Bad Movie Beatdown going up on YouTube these days. This has been deliberate: I've wanted to get more of the vintage videos back on my main YouTube channel where people will be able to see them. These videos do require re-editing, further than I did when I re-edited them for DailyMotion (which mostly tightened up the editing and removed some inappropriate jokes), which is necessary anyway because they need to comply with UK Fair Trading, which is different from US Fair Use (you'll note that many of my videos now have captions listing film clips with their directors and owners, and this is why). I've been gradually drip-feeding them alongside my new content so there's not big of a lull in content; I spent part of the week before the call to visit my family re-editing these old videos so I had a backlog of work to put up should something happen. The only episodes that I am currently not taking a chance on right now is anything held by Fox, who I have had struggles with on YouTube before, which is unfortunate because of how many of my most popular videos are films by them (I wanted to re-upload Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, for example, to coincide with the Nostalgia Critic episode, but it was globally blocked outright moments after it was uploaded).

Also intended to be out soon is another Patron-requested retrospective video, this time on The LEGO Movie. This is something I've been excited to cover, especially because you'll get to see me talk about my days before That Guy with the Glasses and Channel Awesome, where I used to be part of the Brickfilming scene, so this one will be a little more personal. I was glad about the positive feedback to the one for Doctor Mordrid, and this format will likely be how I handle requests that don't fit into the Bad Movie Beatdown mold. Speaking of which, I intend to do my first Patron-requested Beatdown video on Branded, that I've been wanting to do for quite some time - if you're the person who requested this and you're reading this, please get back in touch, and I'm so sorry it's taken this long to fulfill your wishes but I've not forgotten it.

There's also some additional crossovers that you will see in the future. I recorded another review with Diamanda Hagan at ALcon that I had to resend the narration for because I sent her a silent audio file the first time (d'oh!), and there's another video from my Chicago trip that will be quite fun too, so these again should tide you over should things mean I need to take another break.

I think that should cover everything for the next month or so. It's going to be hectic, more so than usual (and some of the blame for that goes to me, outside of what has just happened),  but we'll see. I hope you keep on enjoying my work, and thank you once more for all your continued support and well wishes, especially after the news broke. I couldn't ask for more gracious and understanding fans, I love you all.

Business of Inteligen

While looking further at Inteligen, we’ve found we were unable to locate the company who actually makes this product. There do however, appear to be a number of red flags associated with this product and the mysterious company behind it.

There’s a lot of information making its way around the internet suggesting that Inteligen is a scam. An article on the Supplement Police webpage had several comments from people who had ordered the supplement and claimed it never showed up, or that they were charged for unauthorized purchases.

Additionally, there are several articles that mention the people behind Inteligen are making false claims that this product can boost users’ IQs a certain amount, or that this product has been endorsed by several celebrities. They’ve also created a false Forbes article that made its rounds on social media channels.

One of the sites set up by whomever is responsible for this products has a call-to-action listed that says “rush my order,” which links to another product with the same design. This other product is known as GenBrain, and seems to advertise the same benefits as Inteligen.

While it appears there may be some sort of scam behind the scenes here, Inteligen is available for sale on Amazon. They are running low in stock, but there’s evidence people did receive the product.

Based on the above information, we strongly advise looking for a different product to boost cognition. There are simply too many issues associated with this product for it to be a viable solution.

There weren’t too many reviews available for Inteligen though there were a few suggesting this product delivers mixed results. “I did actually get something in the mail, unlike many others who shared their reviews. Unfortunately, this may well be made from wood shavings or something, this product simply doesn’t work.”

In one comment we found, a woman mentioned she found this product after Inteligen hacked a friend’s Skype account. Additionally, there is no clear way to purchase this product through the official website, and no pricing. There’s only a form asking users to share their contact information in exchange for a free bottle of the product.

Aside from the horrendous business practices we learned about, there were no positive reviews from people who were able to get their hands on this product, all claimed they saw no change (good or bad) after using as directed.

With all that in mind, we strongly advise those looking for a way to boost cognition, memory or increase their productivity look for a different product. It’s clear the company behind Inteligen is not looking out for the best interests of consumers and likely doesn’t work very well at all.
